So when he was scared to give back cdream's headbutts he did this to show him how much he loves him

i am such a big fan of the idea that c!techno shows affection by nuzzling and sniffing and snorfing people. he knows people by scent so so well that it's actually a bit of a comfort to him, to gently press his snout against one of his friends and have their familiar smell wash over him. it's them! his friend! phil is absolutely used to this, it takes the others some time.

i actually have this headcanon that when techno first went to the prison, when things calmed down, and he was able to pay attention, to get close, maybe hug dream, he noticed how different dream smelled. not just because of hygiene, but because he had been hurt and scared for so long that the smell of all that pain and fear lingered, like a scar or a bruise.

even after they escape and dream gets his first real bath, he still smells of the prison. it takes awhile for that scent to fade.

but it does and the first time techno notices, he scoops dream up and sniffs him real good and exclaims, 'dream! you smell like you!' and dream is just half-heartedly pushing him away and laughing and says, 'what the hell else would i smell like?' techno's face gets sad for the briefest of moments before he says never mind and sniffs him again, just for good measure.

hey guys remember like a few days ago when a good chunk of this fandom thought ed and stede weren't going to reunite until like the very end of the season, or at least that they were going to spend a big chunk of the season separated? and then the full trailer dropped and suddenly we got all this footage of them in the same frame interacting and everyone realized how unlikely those predictions are??? and how literally just a tiny bit more detail changed everyone's perspective on things?????

anyway yeah maybe we need to all think abt that for a minute and like. rethink the way we're treating certain theoretical s2 plot points as if they're a given.

What Starstruck Dee theory have people made that is your favourite?

there have been quite a lot, and i genuinely love them all!

early on i think the most popular theory was that she was possessed or had been possessed at some point, most likely by dark matter. she actually debunked this theory personally, but i think people just assumed she was lying! 😂

my favourite part is not any one theory, but watching a shift in thoughts over time as more things are revealed, and seeing people share theories/work together in comments and reblogs. i like the "OOHHH WWWWHAT...!?!" moments a lot; whether they are a reaction to my storytelling or to other folks' detective work!

early theories revolved around how she was weird for a waddle dee, or at least a native of popstar. despite my never explicitly confirming anything to the contrary, theories have now broadly shifted to assuming she is not from popstar at all, and most people do now generally agree she's not really a waddle dee.

i don't recall exactly who first came up with each theory (though some big players are @the-void-is-a-disappointment who did a huge amount of early deetective work and encouraged me to build it as a story for solving, @shibuya-toasted-with-extra-cream, @graycoin and @jojo-schmo) and i'm not sure which of these theories are still held by anyone

but here a few of my favourites, roughly in order that they started appearing...

♻️ she's a total mimic species like kirby or void, copying things around her either by intent or by accident 🗑️ similar to above, but she's an incorrect copy or a "beta" mock-up type of a waddle dee 🧚 that she was just born different, like a fae changeling, and might have been hidden away when young as a result 🕰️ she is something totally inorganic and/or mechanical, created by or like the clockwork stars or stardream, perhaps wish contingent 🥇 sometimes attached to the above, she was created to serve some sort of Greater Purpose. she might have failed at it or been flawed, and was subsequently discarded on popstar 🌠 a dozen and one wildly different things connected to the "falling star that hit her". alien life form on the meteor transferred into her on impact. infection by intergalactic bacteria/dark matter. simply massive concussive trauma that fucked up her signature (back when we thought that was the only thing wrong with her). the star was magic and fused with her. she hatched from it and is literally a star herself. probably missing some here. 🪐 waddle dee from a different place/planet. this one is quite a sensible theory, given that we do see many quite different dees! 🤍 she is a fragmented piece of void/void termina. this one in particular i know is @shibuya-toasted-with-extra-cream 's ongoing theory and she's put in a lot of really cool work towards it! ⚔️ she's somehow connected to the heroes of yore. this theory i think has only started popping up since galacta knight has become a reoccurring visitor in her storyline and we've started asking questions about her familiar looking magic spears, but you can certainly 1hko @moonverc3x with this one 🧿 she's connected to the matters. sometimes soul, because it's sometimes star themed and lacks a token representative. where as a connection to dream might link her to fecto forgo/fecto elfilis in some way (a creature also well known for a catastrophic meteor attack). i've also seen folks confident that she's connected to heart matter as well, probably again due to everyone's favourite grumpy swan showing up

this is all i can think of or locate right now, but there's been a pretty wide range of things. i feel there has been a rather interesting transition over time from "she's a messed up waddle dee" to "she's probably connected to a universal superpower of some kind" which i am genuinely really really thrilled about?! 😂 what a glow up for a pathetic little wawa!!!

i'm also personally really fond of seeing how people's existing biases influence what they can find and draw connections in. for instance: i know @jojo-schmo loves the forgotten land and elfilis, and digs into those connections and draws out some really cool stuff because her knowledge is already so specialised! i think this is the true highlight of working on this story for me, people theorising and engaging in the lore, and laser pin-pointing things that tie into our personal faves-- the way we tend to do with kirby lore as a whole-- is such uninhibited delight

i sincerely hope people will enjoy where starstruck's story does go, in the end!!

In chapter nine, Batman told Vic to gather information on the kids. I wonder if that's going to lead to them learning about the kids' families and for Billy, Uncle Ebeneezer. It's a possibility they would check there for Billy since Ebeneezer is a legal guardian in the area (if he's still in Fawcett). From there, they could find out how crusty dusty mean Ebeneezer is (Flash would make fun of that name, tbh), and more things about Billy. Which through this, they learn more about Captain Marvel, their friend who they used to know nothing about.

Also, at the end of Chapter Nine, Vic wondered if this was all a big distraction from the truth, and I think he's onto something. What if, through his research, he does find out that there are kids going missing? What if he tries to find street footage of the kids and ends up discovering Scott, possibly alive from weeks ago being kidnapped or found dead. The JL only thinks the Captain is missing. They don't know about the serial killer on the loose yet.

I get the feeling they might find out soon, since in the 10th chapter, we see a flashback of Captain Marvel talking to Flash, where he says things are busy in Fawcett, and that Flash says he looks "spacey". I don't know if Barry will connect the dots and remember this conversation, but it seems important.

You have some really excellent observations skills!

The JL have a long way to go with their investigations and they will be in for a lot of twists and turns before they learn the truth. They are only working with a part of the problem, completely unaware of how far reaching all of this is (they have to figure out about the missing kids, serial killers, and secret identities!)

They will all be thinking back to their interactions with Captain Marvel (both recent and not) so they will be connecting dots eventually (though whether they come to the right conclusions is yet to be seen)

Your continued investment in this fic is so motivating to me (I literally reoutlined the whole thing this afternoon in preparation for the next update and I am so excited for what's coming up!)

Listen, Power Rangers Samurai was my first Power Rangers show. I watched it when I was eleven with my little brother and it has a very special place in my heart- which means I am the first one to say that some of the decisions made in canon pissed me off. Making Lauren the first female Red Ranger and the first Red Ranger to fail to defeat her Big Bad? I still get a pit in my stomach thinking about it and it has been TWELVE YEARS.

So in this fic, I wanted to dedicate time to exploring her backstory going into Samurai as well as the aftermath of the show (and, yes, she gets to be part of the final push to defeat Xandred because I'm not an idiot). As an asexual lesbian, Lauren has a LOT of trauma wrapped up in the training process/her isolation/the fact that she had to give birth to a daughter to maintain the bloodlines (hello, Hatsu Shiba, one of my favorite OCs in this series). But with Mia and Lauren's friends and her brother, she gets to learn how to recover and how to be an aunt to the daughter she was made to have. This fic is angry and bitter and sweet and devastating and healing and it meant so much to me writing it back then. It definitely stands the test of time, too!
