How to install TS3 for the ✨chronically TS4✨

Getting back into TS3 posed a challenge for me as compared to TS4. It's a 10+ year old game and of course requires some extra TLC as compared to TS4. So I hope this guide will help y'all to get everything set up cleanly and smoothly! It took me three separate tries and if I can help the next person struggle less, then that's great. Happy simming!

You'll need a copy of TS3 and these resources:

How Use CCMagic YouTube video by @florydaax

No Intro mod edited for 2023 (original by retired creator EllaCharmed) The original mod from Ella does not work for current patch 1.69. I fixed it in s3pe with the help of some commenters on MTS so that it does actually remove the intro. If the creator happens to see this and would like this modified version removed, let me know.

How to clear cache by Carl's Guide

Got everything pulled up? Great! You're ready to start.

1. Download a FRESHLY INSTALLED copy of TS3 to your computer. If you're able, I'd highly recommend having all the packs you're wanting to own already so you don't have to do all of this again. If you are redownloading the game for any reason (like me bc I was struggling lol), remove the existing TS3 folder in your documents and save it somewhere so you can keep all of your mods or worlds there. Back up any reshade stuff from the bin folder. Completely uninstall the game through the EA app/Steam. You may lose your saves and sims due to a change in script mods through this tutorial. This cannot be avoided, trust me I tried. But it's worth it for a smooth game.

2. Do a test launch so that the game generates a new TS3 Folder in your documents. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT INSTALL ANY SIMS 3 PACKS THROUGH THE LAUNCHER! NO WORLDS, NO CLOTHES, NO HAIR COLORS, NOTHING. This will be very important later on when you merge your CC using CCMagic. If you need worlds or other CC there are alternative ways to obtain them.

3. CLEAR THE GENERATED CACHE

4. If you use EA and open to test anywhere between steps (which you shouldn't really need to after step 1 of the Bug Fix Guide) or after playing at any point, open up task manager and ensure that you end the tasks "EA" and "EA Background Services" before continuing. It doesn't really use much memory but I noticed that it caused stutters if it's open when launching using your shiny brand new Smooth Patch. It will look like this:

5. Begin following the steps in the Performance & Bug Fix guide. The first thing you'll do is set up your mods folder. Follow those steps exactly as they are in the guide, except use the No Intro mod I linked above instead of the one you get in that folder if you actually want the intro removed.

6. Continue to FOLLOW ALL REQUIRED STEPS IN THE GUIDE UNTIL YOU'RE DONE. I mean it, all of them one by one. Heck, if you're open/able to do the bonus and optional ones, I'd suggest doing those too.

7. Once you've completed that, go check out nectar-cellar's excellent post for tips and a fix to make the smooth patch to compatible with Master Controller. I will not be providing an edited version of this as LazyDutchess who created the Smooth Patch is still active and I want to respect their work.

8. If you've made it this far, you're doing great sweetie. Do another test launch through the patcher and if everything runs correctly it means you've done everything RIGHT. You're ready to start playing or downloading mods if you want! If you do start downloading mods merging them will 100% be a must do if you want to maintain any sanity. You can use CCMagic to do so. I linked that handy lil video above!

Keep in mind script mods, overrides, patterns, and CC counters should NEVER be merged. Always check the creator's notes, yada yada. And always clean up your cache on a regular basis. Have fun y'all!

A/N: wow the last fic i posted got so many more notes than I was expecting!! thank you all so much!! - mod angel

Pairing: Spencer Reid x GN!Reader

Summary: Spencer comes home to a crying partner and tries his best to comfort them about their body.

CW: body image issues (body dysmorphia), depression, brief diet mention

I sat on the couch, my knees hugged to my chest. My hoodie fell loosely around my body, my pajama pants untied so the fabric was hardly touching me.

Tears were welling in my eyes. I was trying to focus on the tv in front of me to stop worrying about myself, but it was playing another diet ad.

I huffed and turned the TV off, throwing the remote on the table in front of me. It bounced off the table and landed on the floor. I let out a choked sob, tears streaming down my face. I hugged my legs closer to my chest, sniffling.

I heard keys in the lock to the apartment door before it swung open. “I’m home,” Spencer announced, dropping his keys on the table next to the door.

I looked up at him, tears still streaking my face. He looked over at me and frowned, concern in his eyes. He saw the remote I had thrown on the ground and quickly picked it up to put it back on the table before sitting on the couch next to me.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” he asked softly, wiping my tears away and wrapping his arms around me. I buried my face in his chest, a few more tears leaking out. He stroked my hair soothingly.

I sniffled, mumbling into his chest. His finger stroked down my face to lift my chin. “Can you say that again so I can hear you?” he asked, smiling sadly. He reached out to where my knees were hugged into my chest, straightening my legs so they could rest over his lap.

I sniffled, hugging him a little closer. I gestured to my loose clothing. “Bad body day,” I responded, looking at him with sad eyes.

He made a sympathetic sound and hugged me closer. He rested his forehead on mine. “Aw, sweetie,” he cooed, his nose bumping into mine. “Tell me about it. What’s wrong?” He pulled me into his lap.

I sniffled again. “Everything” I whined, probably sounding dramatic. A small sob escaped my mouth. I moved so I was sitting on the couch right next to his legs. I felt like I was going to snap him. “Everything about me is wrong. I’m just too much.” I continued sobbing, rubbing my eyes to try to stop. “I’m so chubby. My stomach sticks out too much. My thighs are so big I can’t wear the same pair of pants for too long because they’ll rub holes in the sides. My hips stick out too much and it makes all the bottoms I wear look awful. My arms don’t have any strength in them and they’re just squishy. Even my face is too chubby. And none of my clothes fit anymore.” All the words were rushing out in a hysterical cry. I couldn’t stop it.

When I was done I buried my face in his chest and continued sobbing. He rubbed circles in my back soothingly, his head resting on top of mine.

We sat like that for a few moments as he let me get all my emotions out. Eventually I sat up and took a deep breath. My sobs were dying down and reduced to occasional sniffling.

He reached out to cradle my face, thumbs wiping the tears from my eyes. He hugged me close, placing a hand on my chest so it was resting over my heart. “None of that is true, you know.” He said softly. “And no matter what, I’ll always love you.”

I shrugged, trying to retract further into my loose hoodie. My emotions were on complete overload, so I couldn’t really think straight.

He sighed softly, “I know it’s hard to deal with things on a bad day.” He ran his fingers through my hair gently. It felt nice. “But I hope you know that I think you’re beautiful. And that’s not going to change no matter what.”

I looked at him, my eyes puffy from crying. “You mean that?”

“Of course I do” he said, without hesitation. “All of the things you’re insecure about, I don’t think anything of them.” He planted a kiss on both of my cheeks. I smiled slightly.

“Your face is not too chubby. It’s beautiful.” He traced my lips with his fingers. “And your smile always brightens my day.” I smiled a little bigger.

His hands ran down my arms, over my hoodie. He toyed with the end of my sleeve. “Can I take this off?”

I made a face and tensed my shoulders. “I’m not wearing anything underneath it.”

He raised his eyebrow and smirked at me. I giggled and playfully swatted his arm, blushing lightly. He smiled brightly at me as he was laughing along with me.

He gently moved his hand down until it was resting just under the bottom of my hoodie. I thought for a moment before taking a deep breath and slowly taking my hoodie off. The cold air hitting my skin made me shiver.

He took it from me and gently set it on the couch behind us. I started to squirm, trying not to look at my bare body.

His hands were back on me, gently stroking down my arms. He nuzzled his face in my neck, kissing up to my cheek.

He stood up and gestured to the open space on the couch. “Can you lay down?”

I nodded and lay down on the couch like he asked. I unconsciously covered my stomach with my arms.

Spencer knelt down next to me, gently pushing my arms away so they were resting at my sides. He met my eyes and smiled at me before leaning down. He kissed my cheek, moving his lips to kiss down my arm. He kissed over my stomach, making me giggle. He smiled at the sound, obviously happy that he could make me laugh.

He kissed over all the places I said I was self-conscious about, his lips trailing down to my hips and thighs before moving up my body back up to my cheek. His lips finally found mine, giving me a few gentle kisses.

When he was done, I sat up and smiled at him. He sat down next to me and I leaned into him, resting my head on his shoulder. He kissed the top of my head.

I looked up at him and he smiled down at me before I asked, “can I put my hoodie back on now? I’m cold.”

We both laughed and he handed me my hoodie. I put it on and let him put his arm around me and pull me into his side. I rest my head in the crook of his neck.

“Are you feeling a little better now?” he asked, gently stroking my hair.

I nodded. “A little, yeah… thank you.” I kissed his cheek. “You always know how to make me feel better.”

He smiled and pulled me a little closer. “We don’t have anything to do today, what do you say we just sit on the couch and we can watch some of your favorite movies?”

I smiled. “You’d be willing to do that?”

“I’m willing to do anything to make you feel better.” He kissed my forehead. “Now, what do you want to watch first?”

We sat like that for the rest of the day, me in his arms, watching movies and just talking, until I forgot all about my insecurities I had been so hung up on that day.

First of all, if that had been an actual farewell, it would have been the most heartfelt, lovely, amazing goodbye I could have ever gotten. Despite the nature of the ‘holiday’, everything I said towards all of you was completely genuine. It’s been great having all of you as roleplay partners throughout this time and I hope we keep being as such.

Yandere Elliott Mod is funny as hell (to me)

Disclaimer: None of this is meant to be taken seriously, this is me rambling into the void and to my friends.

I cannot believe I'm reviewing a mod, lol. Is it a review? I don't know anymore, just giving my take on it.

It's been like 2 weeks since I gave the Yandere Elliott mod a try and honestly I find it more unintentionally hilarious than off-putting in most places.

I felt that some of the moments could be interpreted as genuinely wholesome and sweet if you isolated them (but that's just how context works in a nutshell I suppose. Look, I genuinely thought the insomnia scene and the post-moonlight-jellies scene with adorable, alright?).

The fact that I have to go out of my way to play very different than I ever would have certainly modifies my overall perspective. If I played normally, the only really unsettling thing would be his unhinged letters. Well, one in particular at least. Most of the letters were campy and funny, knowing how melodramatic this character is naturally. Only 1 letter made me and 2 other people I showed it to go "Oh GOD". Everything else? Unintentionally hilarious, or wholesome if you take the obsession letters out. His stalker-schedule was funny as hell. What do I mean by that? How is the "stalker schedule" funny? The mod alters his schedule after 1 heart, so he'll periodically go spy on you on the farm. This was scary only twice for me because I didn't expect it, and there was a long gap between the first time and the second time. Once summer hit, however, it got funny. He was showing up every single day at 6:30 on the dot, except for Friday and Sunday. He was so punctual that I'd look at the clock, see he's about to show up, and prepare myself for my daily convo with him/gift giving if it's Monday and Tuesday. Man was so consistent it was hilarious.

Even better: when he's standing there for so long, his pathfinding kinda... glitches? He'll act like there's something in front of him preventing his movement (like when a player character standing in an NPC's pathing) and suddenly just... book it across the map into the void. Practically died laughing (though I did freak out the first time it happened because I thought "WAIT THIS MOD LETS HIM CHASE YOU?" only for him to run passed and into nothingness)

It actually got a bit lonely in autumn when he stopped showing up and opted to camp outside the mines instead all day. (Elli, sweetie, Ignatius is not going there most of the time because autumn 1 is a busy season for him, come back!) The fact that I have to fully romance all the other bachelors in order to activate one of the legitimately most unhinged aspects of the mod is what throws me off. I know they're fictional characters, but I've always felt icky at multi-dating personally. Just not for me. I pick one and I stick with my decision. Reading the text in the content file is one thing, but I wanted to see the event play out for myself.

After the event, it got hilarious again completely on accident.

Cue Elli not letting Ignatius leave the farm because of his jealousy. It was winter when this happened. The Obsession Cage-Loop event is designed to where Pierre will send you 50 of a random seed packet every day to make up for the fact that you cannot leave.

Crops don't grow in winter.

The mod makes up for this fact by Pierre sending you ANCIENT FRUIT SEEDS. I had over 300 seeds by the time spring hit. Elli straight up SCAMMING Pierre during the Cage-Loop completely on accident. I'm just sitting here thinking "Dang, had I known this would have happened, I'd have activated this sooner AND kept Elli's heart-level low just to get more bang for my buck. Endless supply of Ancient Fruit Seeds just because you're jealous? Yes please!".

After the cage-loop is over, that's pretty much it. Elli apologizes, wants to do better so you feel safe around him, is willing to just be tormented by his jealousy; etc. and things just kinda go... normal??? After that. He still has his eye-brow raising marriage lines afterwards but after everything has passed, he's not too unsettling.

He's just a weirdo who doesn't know how to handle his love.

Other than ONE letter, and the fact that I had to go OUT OF MY WAY to deliberately activate the Cage-Loop event?

This mod vanilla as fuck, lol.

And no, I didn't do the divorce event. I have a history relating to such dark thoughts and even just reading the dialogue in the content file made me uncomfortable.

Overall 10/10 good way to have spent my week between my 2.0 vtuber model work.

It also do not help at all that what makes this mod hilarious in my head is that I play as an inhuman farmer who absolutely towers over Elli in every way. Ignatius is not threatened by this obsessive weirdo in the least bit.

Welcome, everyone, to Unions In College: Targaryen edition! That's right, all my fears about the distant cousin dating situation are about to come true and as a sign of things to come, I originally started this update last weekend and then got food poisoning in the middle of it. We've finally reached the point where the Unions are making me actually vomit and not metaphorically! Because of the new pic limit, this is part 1 of the update and I'll post part 2 right after.

We have arrived at La Fiesta and everyone looks simply amazing, especially Barth in his cowboy look. As Felina and Meadow (Fedow??) immediately reconnect, we are greeted by some #MajorDormieDrama:

Apparently a love triangle between Purple Hair Glasses, Awesomely Dressed Raver Dude and Former Blue Dog Shirt has formed right under my nose! It's so moving to see how between Gunther, Cyn and Sophito, we have used and discarded all 3 of these people multiple times over each generation❤️

Seriously when did you dormie losers even find the time to develop relationships?? Last few gens we've been staying at the dorms for about 20 seconds each run like wtf.

Cousins aren't the only thing we brought to college with us, as someone also brought over this FUCKING COLD that's been ravaging the neighborhood this entire generation.

I've been tracing this thing and I'm pretty sure it originated in Claire's household where fucking Wilfred came home from work sick and he passed it to Spice, then Spice came over to visit his bum dad Sugar, passed it to the main house, then Sunset came over from school with Barth, got it from the main house and passed it to the June/Julian/Blue Meatballs/Stacy household who then passed it to Daniel's household. So basically the only unaffected house is Gunther and Melody! That's why never seeing your kids is the right call.

We spend our first night skilling as everyone this generation is a complete moron with no skill points. I had both Barth and Felina choose the psychology major as I feel they will need those skills (for vastly different reasons) given their LTW's and Barth wastes no time putting his new charisma skill point to good use!

Ok everyone, this is the official megathread to discuss this post from Eddie. Mods have decided it’s been too crazy in here and it needs to be compressed.

If you missed it, although I don’t see HOW at this point, Eddie and a man (who was named by fans in the 90s as Hotdude Inthebackground) have apparently been engaged since 1989 and were among the first same sex couples to get married in Indiana this morning. Hotdude has previously been assumed to be part of their security but *shrug* looks like we were wrong. We’ve been overwhelmed with posts on the subject so keep it in this ONE PLACE please from now on.

Bots and mods will be on patrol to mute/ban where necessary. Don’t be fucking rude.
