In what they call "beta canon"*, every Star Trek character portrayed by Majel Barrett is actually the same person, an immortal being called Morgan Primus, who also will end up being the Federation's standardized computer voice (of course). And like what does this imply, man. Could Lwaxana even really read minds? Did Morgan just make that all up for shits and giggles? Why did she serve on the same ship with Spock as Number One and later come back blonde as Nurse Chapel and NOBODY NOTICED IT? It has so many holes and is so stupid, it can't be anything but canon to me

* because star trek fans have not yet embraced the doctor who way of thinking (everything is canon if you set your mind to it)

Brikars in Trek

I've been thinking about how different Rok-Tahk looks from Peter David's Zak Kebron. They're both Brikars, yet Zak has a chiseled look. Of course, Rok is a child, so I'm curious, does their appearance change as they get older (the equivalent of humans losing "baby fat") or are there different species of Brikars?

BTW, I think it's so cool that Brikars are canon now!

Star Trek: The Next Generation - "Double or Nothing"

(Double Helix book Five)

Riker takes command of the Excalibur much to Shelby's disdain whenever Captain Calhoun has to do an undercover operation to stop a terrible virus from being released. I never really connected with this series of books because only three of them seem actually relevant and they coulda turned em into one book.

Never forget that in Peter David's New Frontier novels (and comics), the ancient immortal character Morgan Primus is vaguely implied to be every single one of Majel Barrett's onscreen Trek characters.

And she's the mother of Robin Lefler.

And then the immortal is finally killed and... actually ends up becoming the ship's computer consciousness, after an earlier Peter David novel established that the Majel computer voice was in fact Number One programming the Enterprise computer with her own voice.

Obviously it doesn't work in a modern Trek world where Number One and Nurse Chapel definitely aren't the same person and are on Pike's Enterprise crew together

But still, just a weird 90's thing that happened

Theres a specific type of blorbo that's just a guy you hate so fucking much upon meeting him and he's the authors specialest little boy but every time he does a special boy thing you feel like killing yourself because it's so annoying but then as you keep going you start to kinda get what the author meant with it and he becomes like a somewhat cool character that doesn't make you wanna shove thumb tacks up your ass. I call this type of character the Mackenzie Calhoun

Can I have more of them in Strange New Worlds, please? Especially since they've finally got a Scottish actor to play Scotty. Also, if they can ram Spock/Chapel down our throats and make me love T'Pring, not to mention change Kirk to knowing he's got a son, then this is no different. "I don't like what happened to Selar in Memory Beta canon. It's not the fact that Selar went into pon farr for someone whose species is both male and female, because that doesn't bother me at all. (Though there are better names for the love interest's species than Hermat, which sounds like hermaphrodite, an outdated and slur word for intersex people). I just hate that Selar and her son's other biological parent had a stupid custody battle over their child, which ended up getting Selar killed."

Now I'm sad :(
