#Sonic Zootopia AU

My brain is writing checks that my hands can't quite cash, but I've been blowing up @ahsokaisawesome 's phone all day with ideas for Sonic and Tails in Zootopia, so here we are. Thoughts under the cut.
Sonic is in his late teens or early 20s, and is Miles' legal guardian. They live in what used to be two neighboring studio apartments, but they knocked down a wall and made it a hybrid. Each side of the apartment is at a different scale, so from the outside there's still two front doors. The place is modest but homey. Miles sleeps on a futon, and they have an old CRT tv and Sega Genesis that they fished out of a dumpster and Miles repaired.
Sonic's main gig is with Zuber Eats. He primarily serves Little Rodentia, and he's one of the best because he's super fast and the perfect size. Small enough to comfortably move through the district without worrying about stepping on anyone, but large compared to the shrews, lemmings, and mice who live there, so he can carry a relatively large amount of food. He can easily accommodate big parties or many orders at once.
Sonic and Miles would be colored more naturally to match the Zootopia aesthetic, if I wasn't too lazy to ever color. And they don't have super powers. But Sonic still has a reputation for being very fast, partly because he's just used to keeping up with his ever-growing little brother, and partly because he zips around town on a skateboard. And Miles still has two tails because I want him to.

Is my style really all that unique? I guess I never realized that...
I actually remember I think reading a story of Sonic and Tails in a Zootopia AU months ago. I wish I could find it to reread it. But I guess it's like Zootopia in the sense that everyone is wearing clothes and are actually height accurate to their species, but everyone still has their powers, magical rocks that can grant the user god-like powers exist, and magic & monsters roam the lands.
Oddly Zootopia wasn't on my brain when I did the doodle request for them.

Saw this challenge in my Suggested, and decided I'd go ahead and go for it, with a couple caveats:
I don't exactly have a WIP folder, so I'll just be listing the names of story ideas lurking in my noggin - whether content has been made for it or no.
I know most people are following me for my Pokémon content. The majority of these will NOT be Pokémon content. Anything not including Pokemon will be under the break.

So I’m usually on the side of the AI supporters. Because AI isn’t going anywhere; that cat is already out of the bag. We literally cannot put it back in, no matter how hard we tried. (My husband and I have had this discussion a lot. It basically involves a lot of legal stuff and Disney ensuring that it’s the only company that can use it, to the detriment of everybody else.)
But I’m laughing so hard right now over the thought of the AI scraping up AO3.
Did the programmer even know what AO3 was before they decided to do it? Were they aware of the AI’s decision to go after it?
I once read a Star Wars Reylo AU where the two of them were in a DDlg relationship. Rey literally pooped a diaper.
I once read a Harry Potter Sevmione fic where Severus, Luna, and Draco were a dominatrixes who taught Hermione how to be a good submissive.

Random details about the Sonic & Tails apartment in the Zootopia AU:
It was originally two neighboring studio apartments, but they punched a hole in the shared wall to make it one unit. Each side is on a different scale.
They just have a curtain for the hole. From Sonic's side, it looks like one of those giant "tapestry" wall hangings and goes nearly to his ceiling. But it's usually left open anyway.
At the moment Tails can crawl into Sonic's side of the apartment, but the older he gets, the harder that is. Sometimes he lays on the floor and pokes just his snout in.
There are DIY stairs and ladders all over Tails' side. Mostly so that Sonic can get around and access anything he needs, but also because Tails is still a short kid and also can't reach the top cupboards otherwise (no flying in this AU).
There is a strict "no leaving a full sink unsupervised" rule because of that time Sonic fell into Tails' sink and almost drowned.
They share meals at a table on Tails' side. It's got a large enough surface area for Tails' dishes, but is low to the ground. Tails sits on a cushion on the floor, while Sonic has appropriately sized chairs.
Their Sega Genesis has 2 controllers, but they're both for "mid size" animals. Sonic plays his like he's working a DJ turntable, and wins regularly.
Since Tails' side has more floorspace, Sonic sometimes skateboards around in there.
When they make chili dogs at home, Sonic's use cocktail weenies.
To save on heating costs in winter, Sonic joins Tails on the futon and sleeps curled up in his tails. He wears a beanie so his quills don't poke him.

First of all, hi! How you doing?
Now, I love Zootopia. LOVE IT. So, why not create an AU where Sonic becomes a cop and Shadow's a con artist! I always wanted to do something like that and follow a similar (but not the same) plot as Zootopia :) It would be pretty cute to have Sonic be a little serious for once, and for Shadow to be nothing but a tease. Just imagine, Sonic helping out Shadow buy his "kid" a popsicle and like finding that cute. Eventually, though, he finds out that Shadow didn't have a kid and just wanted the large popsicle to make money from his side business >:) Thinking they'll never meet again, they leave their argument at that, but oh do their paths cross again when Sonic gets involved in a big case. He ropes in Shadow after he learns that Shadow was the last person the victim saw, which leads to both hedgehogs solving the case together and possibly catching feelings? Heck yeah, I can picture it!
