she's lost count of how many days she’s spent in this bed. not that it matters much anymore ; she doesn’t have a life to return to once she’s discharged. at least she’s made enough progress that she’s able to sit up, albeit against several uncomfortable pillows, and even occasionally move her arms— that is, until the bandages tied around her midriff press into her still-healing ribcage and lungs, and she’s forced to up her morphine dosage to find relief.
her throat hurts like hell itself ; every breath sends scalding fire down her trachea. reluctantly, she’s been relying on the cannula fastened around her ears to provide oxygen through her nose. it hurt less, but only physically. her pride took the greatest wounds, she thinks. several words break through the room’s monotonous, repetitive sounds — the steady beep of the heart monitor, the occasional hiss of the respirator — as a woman practically waltzes into the room, which annette had been told was kept private for legal purposes.
physically, the visitor rings no bells. but that voice — it's one she's heard recently, one that's stuck with her since her evacuation from the city. the EKG beeps rapidly as recognition sinks in, and tired blue eyes, rimmed from lack of sleep, widen in disbelief. her pride takes a hit again, while her self-preservation takes a backseat. she's in no condition to fight back. perhaps she doesn't deserve to.
' 'adore' is a strong word, ' she practically croaks, a potent mix of anger and something akin to fear lacing her tone. her throat burns with every word, pleading for her silence. ' you should be dead. why are you here? to... taunt me? well, get it over with. '

Sam Claflin and Adaptations (there's a lot more than you think!)
Articles and interviews be like: Sam, you have done so many book adaptations and then name at most three titles. Every fucking time. Luckily, I'm here to tell you about them! (Under the cut as it got long.)
Hunger Games Catching Fire and Mockingjay (books written by Suzanne Collins) - YA dystopia. The most obvious, of course. Sam plays Finnick Odair, the coolest character. (He's not dead, Katniss is lying.)
Daisy Jones and the Six (book written by Taylor Jenkins Reid) - story of a rise and fall of fictional band in the 1970s. Sam is Billy Dunne, the main male lead and a real rockstar!
My Cousin Rachel (book written by Daphne du Maurier) - Gothic thriller, 19th century. Sam is the narrator, Philip. This is my personal favourite.
Their Finest - adaptation of Their Finest Hour and a Half (book written by Lissa Evans) - Drama with bits of comedy. Set during WW2 in the film industry. Sam plays screenwriter Buckley, a member of a film crew working on a film about Dunkirk evacuation. Also features a side character who is gay and is alive at the end. More people should watch this film, imo.
Enola Holmes (book written by Nancy Springer) - kiddie Sherlockian pastiche. Sam plays Mycroft Holmes, at least that's his character's name, but it's not the usual Mycroft; his version is dumbed-down and cartoon-villainised so that the eponymous teenage girlboss can have her story.
Adrift - adaptation of Red Sky in the Mourning (book written by Tami Oldham Ashcroft) - survival drama of a seafaring couple lost at sea after a hurricane. Sam is the main character's love interest, Richard.
Two mini series from Sam's early career (that I haven't watched so can't give you any info):
Pillars of the Earth (book written by Ken Follett) - TV mini series set in 12th century about building of a cathedral. This was Sam's very first role.
Any Human Heart (book written by William Boyd) - TV mini series, chronicles a life of a writer in 20th century. Sam plays the youngest version of the main character, Logan.
Adaptations of plays - it counts, okay?
Journey's End (play written by RC Sherriff) - WW1 war film, but not a regular one (there's no battles). Covers a week in the trenches in March 1918. Sam plays Captain Stanhope, an officer at the edge of nervous breakdown. One of his best performances, if not the very best.
Riot Club (play written by Laura Wade) - contemporary film about a posh elite club at Oxford. Sam's character, Alistair, is a spoiled brat, Draco Malfoy-like. (Not the good fanon version, the bad canon version.) Btw, this is no Dead Poet's Society, no dark academia - the titular club is based on Bullingdon Club (of which Boris Johnson was member). They book a table at restaurants, trash them and then hand the owners a cheque to compensate. You see now why we have all these problems...
You can make an argument for:
Snow White and the Huntsman - (folk tale recorded by Brothers Grimm). It's a darker retelling. Sam plays William, the prince charming of the story.
Snow White and the Red Shoes, (as above) an animated film, he voices a character named Merlin. No idea what this is as I haven't seen it.
Okay now I'm stretching it
Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides - adapted from a Disneyland ride. BUT the ride itself was inspired by legendary tales of pirates, among others the books of Emilio Salgari. So, not that crazy. Might be the weakest of the franchise, but Sam's storyline--he plays the missionary Philip--is what saves it, his romance with the mermaid is just the cutest!

Gen 2. Cinderella #14 The Coronation
Princess Royal Ella and King Florian
At the beginning of the ceremony:
Queen Gabriella and Prince Consort William Dracul came to the coronation in an act of goodwill. Crown Prince Soren was tense the whole ceremony.
Princess Mariah: "Come sit down, won't you?"
William: "Why so stressed, Prince Soren?"
Soren: "What are you and Gabriella doing here?"
William: "Queen Gabi wanted to show her support for the new King and Queen, nothing more. She always thought highly of King Jeffery since she was a child." (They autonomously became friends that day the Evil Queen confronted Snow)
Everyone was doubtful, though. And Joy was pregnant again 😒
Another Sage showed up to this coronation.
(Did I mention Anastasia and Drizella have a Difficult relationship? These two are constantly bickering as well... It grows tiresome having everyone tense all the time.)
Drizella: "Wait, so we don't get any titles?"
Madonna: "Not today... I'll make sure to talk to Florian about this."
"The Almighty Watcher let the light of her countenance shine upon your majesty..."
"Congratulations, Your Majesty."
"Presenting Her Royal Highness, the Princess Royal, Ella Tremaine of Tartosa."
Queen Madonna: "What are those two whispering about??"
Queen Gabriella presented herself to King Florian and Princess Ella. Gabriella: "If you would ever like to visit the Magic Realm with me, Your Royal Highness, I would be happy to sponsor you before the mage."
Ella: "But why would you do that? Didn't you hate my mother?"
Gabriella: "It was my mother who hated her, not me. I've always been confused about her irrational hatred toward Snow. She's kind of my half-sister, you know, so that would make us family."
Ella nods her head doubtfully...
Madonna felt slighted. Gabriella didn't even say a word to her.
Back at the castle, the stepsisters were exhausted and felt jilted. Queen Madonna stared at Her Royal Highness balefully as Ella was saying good night to Major.
Ever faithful, Florian continued to sleep in his office next to Snow.

'Production images have been released for the Donmar Warehouse’s revival of Macbeth.
Leading the production are David Tennant (Doctor Who, Good) and Cush Jumbo (Julius Caesar, Hamlet), taking on roles of the regicidal Macbeths, alongside Moyo Akandé (as Ross), Annie Grace (as Musician and Gentlewoman), Brian James O’Sullivan (as Donalbain/Soldier/Murderer and Musician), Casper Knopf (as Macduff’s Son/Fleance/Young Siward), Cal MacAninch (as Banquo), Kathleen MacInnes (as The Singer and ensemble), Alasdair Macrae (as Musician and ensemble), Rona Morison (as Lady Macduff), Noof Ousellam (as Macduff), Raffi Phillips (as Macduff’s Son/Fleance/Young Siward), Jatinder Singh Randhawa (as The Porter/Seytan), Ros Watt (as Malcolm), and Benny Young (as Duncan/Doctor).
Director Max Webster’s production employs binaural technology to create an immersive 3D sound world, courtesy of sound designer Gareth Fry (The Encounter), which the audience experience through wearing headphones.
In addition, live music comes from an onstage Scottish folk band led by Macrae and featuring award-winning Gaelic singer MacInnes.
The creative team also includes Rosanna Vize (designer), Bruno Poet (lighting designer), Shelley Maxwell (movement director), Macrae (composer and musical director), Rachel Bown-Williams and Ruth Cooper-Brown of RC-Annie Ltd (fight directors), and Anna Cooper CDG (casting).
Macbeth officially opens tonight and runs until 10 February 2024.'

//What a LANDSLIDE victory, and one that's very well deserved in my opinion.
//But with that, we come to our GRAND FINALE, and I don't know about you guys...But there's only one person who can bring a spectacular despairful finale to this Death Battle series...
//Connections:
Afton: Both are antagonists from video games that are both psychopathic and intelligent, and they both started a horrible event with little to no rhyme or reason behind it, that kickstarted the main timeline of their respective series (the Tragedy and the end of the world for Junko and the multiple child murders that Afton committed). Both used their designated place of work/study as a death trap for their victims (Hope's Peak Academy and Freddy Fazbear's Pizza) and both are connected to mascots with animal themes, one of which they hide behind to keep their actual identities a secret from others (The Monokuma's and the Animatronics, more specifically the RC Killing Game Monokuma and Spring Bonnie). Both of them have control of a variety of gadgets and tech that help them kill their victims, the most potent of which are a small army of animal-themed killing machines (Monokuma for Junko and the AR Animatronics and Twisted One's for Afton). Ironically, their death would come from being crushed by the very thing that they used to commit their murders, as well as being brought on by their own victims (Junko died in the Ultimate Punishment after Makoto and the other Survivors of the first Killing Game defeated her, and Afton was crushed by his suit's spring locks when confronted by the spirits of the 5 missing children that he murdered), but they would soon resurrect in order to carry out their murderous plans; initially, they would take over a robot, and later, they would emerge as a virus that would infect users' virtual games and take over their minds (Junko created an Alter Ego AI of herself that initially took over Kurokuma and Shirokuma before it's concentrated code was uploaded into the Neo World by Izuru, where it then tried to possess the bodies of the Remnant's of Despair. Afton's spirit possessed the Spring Bonnie suit, becoming Springtrap, and then later Glitchtrap in the Fazbear Virtual Experience, where he tried to corrupt the minds of the game testers). These AI's also successfully took hold in the minds of young females, who became their most devoted follower (Yukari Koime and Vanessa). Both are also notorious for coming back from the dead time and time again, no matter how many times people try to get rid of them.
Chris: Both are twisted presenters of reality TV programs where teens are coerced into risky and life-threatening situations for extremely petty and illogical reasons (Junko did so for her own amusement and to spread the feeling of Despair to all of mankind for no reason other than boredom, and Chris not only enjoys watching people suffer, but he's obsessed with gaining views, clout and money through his show). The majority of their victims are a group of teenagers who are all centered around a single stereotype (The Ultimate's and the Contestants). Both also have/had a partner, whom they tormented and picked on all the time (Mukuro Ikusaba and Chef Hatchet), they both have armies of robots at their disposal, among many other traps and gadgets.
Major: They are both the charismatic, nihilistic, and completely insane leaders of their own personally corrupted terrorist followers (The Ultimate Despair/Organization Zetsubou and The Millenium Organization). They have unleashed unimaginable levels of terror and carnage on the world and are in constant conflict with an organization that works to fight the evils they bring about (The Future Foundation and the Hellsing Organization). They have long since passed away from what should have been their premature demise, but they still find ways to return and wreak more havoc (Junko comes back as an AI and by employing prodigies like Monaca to carry on her legacy. The Major was once revived as a cyborg.) Their pursuit of destruction stems from a single, overarching concept that defines their identity and motivation for wanting to see the world burn (Despair for Junko and War for The Major)
Joker: Both are insane manipulative masterminds who are fixated on a psychotic and flawed philosophy that emphasizes the negative aspects of humanity (Despair and Insanity respectively). Their obsession frequently drives them to manipulate and put other people in bizarre situations to demonstrate the superiority of their philosophy and drive people insane. Both drove admiring women in the medical field into a similar state of madness and twisted undying affection by manipulating them (Mikan Tsumiki and Harleen Quinzel) and they have both brainwashed countless others, have unpredictable personalities that cause them to act erratically, have hatched elaborate plans to bring about anarchy in society, and they both enjoy killing people in bizarre and inventive ways. Both are the nemeses of men who solve intricate crimes and directly contradict their ideology and thwart their schemes (Makoto Naegi and Bruce Wayne/Batman) whom also partner with a law-abiding individual who has ties to the police (Kyoko Kirigiri and Commissioner Jim Gordon). Both have multiple selves that they frequently switch between (with Junko continuously switching between different personas and Joker asserting that he had a multiple choice past and that he was even three people in the "three jokers" plot), are willing to harm and betray their own allies in an attempt to validate their beliefs (Mukuro and Harley Quinn, multiple times), and, despite their obvious mental health problems, are remarkably unsympathetic (Junko lost all sense of humanity and could only experience true life when she was in the depths of despair. Joker was a failed comedian who completely lost faith in humanity, and later fell into a vat chemicals during a heist)
Monika: Both are the main antagonists of Visual Novels who are initially portrayed as talented high school girls and possess an abnormal degree of control in the world around them (Junko is the Ultimate Despair/Fashionista/Analytical prowess, and is extremely powerful and influential for a mere high-school girl and regularly breaks the fourth wall, while Monika, who is the president of the Literature Club and a very popular upperclassman in the school, not only also breaks the fourth wall, but has access to the game files, which she can play with how she fits) They both commit graphic crimes on the world and their classmates/friends for seemingly petty and nonsensical reasons (Junko does it to feel Despair and spread Despair, while Monika actively deletes the other characters from DDLC's game files until she's the only available romance option left) however, they do it with slightly contrasting motivations which makes one more sympathetic than the other (Junko is hopelessly fickle and does terrible things simply out of boredom and a desire to feel any sort of excitement. Monika does it out of desperation and love for the player, since the game denies her any role outside of a background character, and not an initial date option). Both, at least at one point, are also AI/coded characters in a digital world that they desperately want to escape from (Junko came back as an AI after her death and tried to use the Remnant's of Despair's bodies to escape the Neo World Program and wreak havoc on the world again, while Monika desires nothing more than to get out of the coded reality she's in so she can be in a romantic relationship with the MC behind the screen.) As a side note, Junko's protégé from Ultra Despair Girls is also called Monaca, though it is spelt differently.

I always kinda wanted to self ship with Leon or have a sorta self insert or original character but I'm not sure as there is Cleon or even Aeon and I'd feel like I'm imposing as i don't know whether or not Leon has any canonical love interests as I'd feel I'm doing him disservice and to his character. Do you have any advice or thoughts to share? I haven't been relatively too long in this fandom but Leon is my favourite so far, i really love him.

Write, have fun! There are no canon ships in RE except Ethan and Mia or William and Annette.
You are not imposing. HCs and ships are all for fun. There are plenty of others selfships out there, too. If someone feels pressured or bad about other people's HCs and Ships, I think it is about time they turn their PC off and go touch some grass. Leave their parents' basement or whatever.
Leon is not even a real person, no need to worry about doing him "disservice". About if he has (or not) a canonical love interest: The closest we can have to a possible "Lover" for Leon was from a 90s interview when Hideki Kamiya in one of the RE2 databook saying that Leon arrived late in RC because he got drunk after his ex-girlfriend broke up with him.
And even that was never really addressed or mentioned in the OG timeline (then again, the director and designer do their job, and it is up to the developers to acknowledge and put out there every bit of info - or not, during the world construction of the game).

I’m not asking this to be facetious but I’m genuinely confused. What do you mean by a rival court? Putting aside Royalty doesn’t exist in the US, I don’t understand what aspects of a RC they could try to emulate. Do you mean setting up ‘engagements’ with people who didn’t ask to meet them & being photographed? They don’t represent any head of state, government, charity or the armed forces. They don’t have patronages & they don’t have the palace infrastructure. So what does a RC entail?
They wanted to establish themselves as the equivalent of the future King aka William in order to attract donors who would not know any better.
Yes, it's a dumb and unrealistic idea but you have to remember that facts have never really gotten in the way of their hare brained schemes.

This is really random and something I can definitely do a google dive on myself, but was curious if you know off the top of your head since I like how you explain things. Is there something especially significant about April 1st in Japanese culture?
I feel like I've seen sooo many characters in anime/manga that have that as their birthday? Though maybe Tsubasa RC having like...5 of them is an outlier and shouldn't be counted lol, and obviously in Yuumori it could be leaning more into Easter/Christian themes.
Anyway, just wanted to know whether it's something you know about before I go a-researching. :)
I don't think so, no. If there is, nothing I know. There's just a lot of overlap when there's so many anime characters, sometimes it happens. 25th of December also lands with a lot of characters, although even Japan recognizes some significance to the date.
As for Liam, Easter actually was April 1st in 1866 (I legitimately looked it up trying to figure out why people said this was his birthday a couple years ago). And then later, Miyoshi-sensei posts birthday art for him on Twitter that says "Happy Not Birthday" with a red string wrapped around his throat, and the vindication, because I'd been insisting it wasn't his actual birthday; it was OG William's, not his. And, confirmed!
And then one of my friends started wondering how I got this so right about Liam being strangled by the fate of his fake fucking birthday.
Anyway, it could be a detail because of the year they decided to set YuuMori in (although they haven't taken most of the other details of any of the years). It could be because it's a false date and April Fool's. Or it could be not much of anything.
