My HC (mention of Cleon in the end)
My personal HC about Leon's family is that his father -, Leon Kennedy (YES. His dad's name is LEON, too). Meant to start a family thing where every firstborn son, has to have the first name to be "Leon".
That is why Leon has the name Scott in the middle. That is how the family used to differentiate the Leons in the family.
Leon - Always the father
Scott/Called by their middle name - the children and grandchildren.
At first, Leon thought that to be dumb and silly. But now, he is hitting his 35 years. He kinda grew soft to the idea...
Claire, pregnant with a baby BOY now has to look for a good name that can be in the middle of Leon and Kennedy. She won't say it out loud... But she is insanely proud and happy to continue this "Leon legacy". Anything family-oriented just has a soft spot for her and she will gladly make her own son be a part of such a 'family ritual'.
Chris wants the baby to be a Redfield. LOL

I'm always glad to know there are people against the toxicity of that one particular ship. Leon deserves better
Assuming you're talking about Aeon (since they kinda are that one ship known to be "toxic"), I say Ada also deserves better. As much as I love Leon, he is also toxic for Ada.
His accusatory glares at her, always reminiscing her about the past and certainly holding it against her the things she HAD to do... It is not different from Leon keeping the chip to himself in Infinite Darkness without giving Claire much background to his decisions.
The difference is that we know Leon's alignment and that he does feel remorse about it all. And that he is working against his will to the Government. But for Claire, as an outsider viewer, what Leon did was just a Douchebag-Ada Wong-Styled move like when she took the Plagas without saying much about it.
We don't know much about Ada so all we can do is SPECULATE that she MAY be doing her work Against her will - or NOT.
But either way, at the core, they're not that different. The toxicity does not come only from Ada... But also from Leon.
At least, that is how I see it.
Maybe I don't ship them more because I don't like the type of man Leon is when around her and how "trapped" Ada seems to be when it is about him. They are not bringing the best out of each other for ME. in MY opinion.

No but i just think most of us Cleons might just be the sanest. Wasn't it meant to be when my first notion was "they're so lovely together" when i first played RE2R 6 years ago? 😭
