NETFLIX: EVERYTHING NOW
[Trigger warning: the show is centred around the main characters recovery from her ed so that’s mentioned in this post.]
I am in love with this show. I just put it in as something to watch in the background whilst I did some light work and now I’m a day behind on it because I couldn’t. Stop. Watching! (and I couldn’t see the keyboard through my tears 😭).
I don’t even know where to start- it’s been so long since I’ve seen a show and seen myself in so many of the characters and seen people I know in those character as well. In an emotional sense, a situational sense and a physical sense I literally found Cam so jarring just because he reminds me so much of two people i know.
The Script Dialogue ?
🎶 For the first time in forever 🎶 the script, written about gen z, using terms and reference of the youth, didn’t. Feel. Forced. IN ADDITION, they used reference that weren’t just globally relevant but phrases and references that are very British/Londoner gen z!
“Are you not embarrrrassssed? This is emberaasssing” - perfectly used.
I also love how there’s no pressure to announce their sexuality, everyone is just them. I’m straight, so my opinion on this means nothing in comparison but I love that. l can see why coming out is important to many and a needed process to go through but I also know many people would rather not and just love and live and from an ally’s perspective I feel like this perspective of LGBTQ+ stories are so refreshing. The kids are freely figuring themselves out with no judgement, as they should be.
The Music Choices ?
First things first because I need to point this out for people not from London who have or are looking to watch the show. These kids come from rich families- and I mean RICH. They’re not from old money wealth (like Young Royals) but they live in modern detached houses located in zone 1 more or less (that’s already worth like £1M+ range), have cars that I know for a fact definitely don’t abide by ULEZ so they defo pay extra, AND have back gardens??? Mad.
But why is this relevant? To be honest I don’t know how to word this but, the house music at the house parties, the drops of garage, when Cam was in his home and working out and they played Cench, my first thought was “Cam is defo the type of boy to know all the words to all Cench’s songs and then rap the words with vim, as if he’s from ends 😂” (translation: “ends” = “the hood”, think Top Boy).
The music choices accurately depict today UK youth and it’s not just music that fits their lives or their characters progression but instead rounds out the characters. For instance I listen to Pop Smoke despite not being able to relate to a lot of what he’s saying as I’m not from NY or live that lifestyle, but will I scream the lyrics? Yes. And that’s how I feel it is with these characters. The soundtrack was like a dip into their own spotify accounts!
AND WHEN THEY PLAYED “MY HOOD” BY RAY BLK ? I cried. That was my “bus ride to school” song in secondary school.
The Character Development ?
I haven’t routed for and been annoyed / pissed off to high heavens by / cringed for / cried for a bunch of characters in so long. I don’t want to say more about that because the show is very plot character driven and I don’t think I can explain what I mean without spoiling it.
What Got Me About The Show ?
Through the show I came to the conclusion that even when I was mad at the characters I couldn’t be completely mad because I knew where they were coming from and I knew they were struggling but still mad because it didn’t excuse or make it okay that they spread the pain. The only character that hadn’t done that I believe is Mia’s little brother (even though I myself really wanted him to give everyone what for).
As I am not someone with an ED I can’t fully relate and my two cents on this is worth nothing in comparison to those who have had the presence of an ED in their life in some way. But from my perspective I do believe that this show is very educational and brings great awareness to the mental side of it all. It’s very raw and real and unapologetically what it is.
I don’t really know how to end these things and tbf but I love this show and needed to express it especially since no one around me has watched it yet 😭.

Paring: Rachel Weisz as a photographer x model!reader
Summary: Rachel hasn’t had a photo shoot in a while and she’s been moody for the past week.
Warning: swearing, slight guilt tripping
Currently, I’m attempting to raise Rachel’s spirits after none stop cancellations and push backs of photo shoots that she had planned endlessly for.
It’s hell for the both of us. She is upset. And i’m upset because she’s upset. Yet, she won’t let me help her.
The amount of times Rachel has complained and then ranted and then complained again about how unglamorous being a photographer was, is uncountable.
I walked to the back of the couch after making dinner and then putting it into the oven, my hands on her shoulders and rubbing them affectionately.
“Rachel- You’re still as gorgeous as ever-“ I attempted to cheer her up out of the blue, not wanting to annoy her.
“Don’t start..” She huffed.
“No, i am starting.” I laughed, walking around the sofa and taking her hands into mine
I sat down beside her, pulling her legs that were sprawled over the sofa onto my lap and then took one of her hands which she tried to pull away but I didn’t let her.
“Ray.. I know these past few weeks have been shit, but you can’t keep being nasty and moody and grotty- And you can’t keep denying my compliments!” I laughed at the last part I said, my arms slightly being thrown in the air.
Rachel said nothing, looking at me to let me know that she was listening and a slight glimmer in her eyes let me know that she didn’t mean any of it.
“I just want you to sit here, kiss me and then watch a shitty TV programme and eat my lasagne that I have spent the last two hours on.” I mumbled, trying not to make her feel bad but it seemed as though I did when she turned her head away and her bottom lip moved in-between her teeth.
“I’m sorry, Y/N..” She whispered, sniffling slightly before turning back to me and sat up, pulling me into a hug and her head quickly moving into my neck.
“Oh, my darling..” I sighed, knowing that these feeling have all been bundled up inside for ages, I just set her off with my attempt at being overly nice.
I let her cry it all out and I ran my hand up and down her back as my hand had moved under the back of her shirt, letting her calm down.
Around five minuets later, Rachel pulled away and looked at me with a sad smile before snorting and wiping away the snot and tears that coated her face with the sleeve of her shirt.
“You absolute grub- we have tissues!” I shouted, my eyebrows furrowed as her sleeve was now covered in germs and was wet with tears.
“It was gunna be washed either way..” She spoke with a playful smile, then turning her head to the kitchen as the timer I had set went off to take the lasagna out of the oven.
“Now, how about some dinner?” I asked, stroking the side of her face.
“Yes, please.” She sighed, standing up with me but smacked my ass as she followed behind.
My Ray Ray was back.

Silver and Green scales reflect the light from the sun as his tail catches the brilliant rays. He is hovering close to the surface but his focus is down below. 20m underneath where he swims, he sees another group of Mers, happily flitting about playfully. He smiles watching the female with her Lionfish pattern flare out her spines as a much larger male with silver and purple scales tries to grab her without poking himself on the venomous barbs. They are both all smiles and giggles as they lunge and dodge at each other.
Some 3m off to the side of them is a massive Leviathan who he has come to know. The once boogeyman of the deep is now a normal facet of his daily life. The 45m behemoth looked curious as he did a slow and lazy infinity sign in the water. The predator's way of showing he was completely at ease in his environment. Occasionally the large Apex creature would half-heartedly grab at one of them making them squeal in excitement and they would tease him for a bit. Staying just out of his reach before darting off, back to their game.
Goldenrod and Sanguine eyes look up and lock onto Violet eyes and narrow. The Scarlet and Gold-bodied, monstrous creature casually swims up to him and cups his face with taloned fingers. “You are not participating. Why?” the other male asks as he wraps his serpentine body around the silver and green mer. “Is something wrong?” The Leviathan’s hair frames his face and fans out in a beautiful golden halo. He tenderly strokes the other man’s face and leans in to nuzzle his nose. “Mmm?”
“I’m fine Kyojuro. Just watching.” The smaller siren says contentedly as he looks at the Leviathan fondly. One of his green-scaled hands cupped Kyojuro’s cheek. “Prey?” Kyo asks with mischief in his voice. He tightens his coils around the Mer body he has restrained and flicks the other Mer with his caudal fin.
The smaller Mer crinkles his nose at the fin messing with his nose. “Yeah. I’ll hunt.” He says calmly. Tone not betraying the bubbling excitement he felt hunting alongside the monster from the depths. Kyojuro releases him and turns to face the other two who are watching with curiosity but too far away to hear the conversation. “Wise choice.” the blonde comments as he lazily waves at the male and female pair. “Smile and don’t let them suspect a thing,” he warns.
The other Mer nods, his white unruly hair dances in the water. “You are the one that is suspect.” He comments back. Nodding his head at the other two and waving them off. Kyo dives down and circles the pair grabbing at them playfully as he had earlier. The larger male darts his eyes from the scarred green and silver male siren back to the flamboyantly patterned female. The male nods his head and stills his body. He appears to be completely relaxed and chill.
All of a sudden, he rockets at the woman grab tackling her and continuing his path. “SANEMI WHAT THE HELL!?” the woman yells smacking him with her hands and pushing against his chest. She wasn’t trying to seriously escape. She is still smiling and laughing and he swims away from the group. Prize En hand.
He swims around with her held against him until he finds a coral cave. He pulls them both inside and presses her up against the ridged walls of the bioluminescent cavern. Blues, greens, and pinks lighting up the area as the algae and corals are disturbed. Tiny little glowing fish swim around cautiously. “Sanemiiiii” the female whines and she turns her head away from him coyly.
“Mmm?” he hums against her neck as his hands begin to play with the sensitive fins of her ears. “What is it my little lionfish?” “ ‘nemiiii...” she whines again. Squirming under his touch. “Do you know what today is?” he leans over and nips at her bottom lip. “uhh...” she starts to wrack her brain trying to figure out what today is. His face begins to fall and he pulls back. “Seriously?” he asks incredulously. She turns to face him. Her eyes look past his shoulders for a second then she dives under his arms and out the mouth of the cave. He groans and swims after her annoyed.
Spinning around with her fins fully flared out in her most impressive display, she halts her movements and poses for him. Face beaming. Flanking her on either side are their pod members. The family unit of Makio, Suma, Hinatsuru, Kyojuro, Tengen, and their shared little Lionfish. Behind them were his brother Genya and his friends, Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke. As well As Nezuko, Tanjiro’s younger sister. Off on the far left and avoiding touching the Scarlet and Gold Leviathan was their half Leviathan, Half Siren pod Leader Gyomei. Smirking to himself.
“Of course, I know what day today is!” She surges forward and gathers his face in her hands. Kyo’s body wrapped around Sanemi’s while Tengen and his three mates encircle and hug his frame.
“Happy Birthday, Sanemi!” Everyone says together with affection. He blushes and tries to duck out but his movements are hindered by Kyojuro’s muscled serpentine body. The female holding his face chuckles and nips at his bottom lip for a change. “Happy Birthday ‘nemi. I love you,” she says quietly. Only loud enough for the Mers holding him to hear. The celebrated Siren's blush deepens and he looks her directly in her eyes. One of his clawed fingers takes her chin and pulls her forward. “I love you all too.” then he flicks her on the nose and kisses her lips as she pouts.
Gyomei clears his throat which causes Tengen to snap his fingers drawing attention to him. “Unless you two plan on giving us a show... We have a feast to get to and celebrate the birthday fish! Let’s go!” He announces and pokes at Sanemi’s ribs. “Yeah, yeah. Let’s go. Thanks, everyone. I really appreciate it.” He says in earnest smiling at his loved ones surrounding him. Once more group hug, he is released to swim back with his pod for the feast in his honor. Members of his family unit holding his hands or touching his fins delicately as they swim off to celebrate his creation and life.
He feels content and at peace. Full of love. For he has everything he could ever want or wish for right here and now. The chaos and mischief of his family. The daily drama from domestic misunderstandings or adventures. The late-night cuddles or love-making sessions. Even the arguments and their sometimes-tearful resolutions. All these things bring him warmth and joy. And he wouldn’t change a thing.
