I think I've figured out what makes an ideal "hero's party"
~ the hero; calls the shots, generally a sort of "everyman" character, usually the heir to a throne, often acts as the moral compass ~ the strategist; usually has a back story where they worked in the royal court ~ the knight; literally a one-man army & always the first to be loyal to the hero and often the MOST loyal ~ the musician; quite flirtatious with everyone, silvertongued, yet still astoundingly good in a fight ~ the badass woman; a beautiful woman who is about equal with the knight in fighting prowess, and turns down all affections and flirtations as a matter of course ~ the thief; can be merged into other roles, this person is all about money and fame ~ the cook; AKA the one who keeps everyone else alive, they manage meals and fix their injured party members, can also be the moral compass and/or voice of reason
*this is just my own opinion **all characters can be any gender, except for the badass woman, and this is because most parties are overwhelmingly male and is to ensure a female character exists - if rest of the cast is female, then flip to male

So I got my switch recap results of the year.
It's skewed real bad to not be quite right. Mostly that the top three aren't right if we included the last 2 weeks.
Tumblr media
And yes, I played Animal Crossing for at least 2 hours every year since it came out. What of it?
But anyways glad to know like less than 30 hours of my 110 hours so far in Persona 5 Royal were before December started. Also 89 is a very typical number in a single month to play a thing that is long. Because I know my DQXI file is at least at 100 hours as well.

(I love you omori, I'll come back when I'm ready to go the hikikomori route, that won't be until next year I'm guessing)

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: when you forget to bring your jacket, an unlikely hero comes to your rescue; is there more to his chivalrous action than meets the eye?
pairing: kaiser x gn! reader
warnings: fluff, kaiser being kaiser; i’m still on hiatus but i have to free this idea from my mind or it won’t let me go, also i thought it was super fun when they spoke german in the manga so here we are
blue lock masterlist
Tumblr media
“Is it me or is it chillier than normal in here?” You asked, rubbing your palms over your goosebump-ridden arms. As an assistant manager, you’d been next to the pitch more often than you could count, but on this day it seemed like someone turned up the AC.
“Hm, dunno. Seems normal to me,” Kurona said after contemplating for a few seconds. “You’re not getting sick, are you?”
“I don’t feel like it, no,” you wondered aloud as you watched the Bastard München and FC Barcha players walk onto the court. As much as you’d hate to miss the beginning of the Neo Egoist League, perhaps you should make the track back to your room. “I think I’ll go grab my jacket—“
Your sentence was cut off by fabric covering your head, making you flinch in the sudden darkness.
“Hier, nimm meine. (Here, take mine.)” A voice that had quickly become familiar since the foreign teams were introduced passed by and when you lifted the front of the jacket, you found none other than Michael Kaiser in your field of view. As usual, he was looking rather smug for no reason whatsoever.
Still, he was one of the last people you’d expect to help you out, so the raise of your eyebrow was somewhat inevitable.
“Versteh mich nicht falsch, (Don’t get me wrong,)” he continued, cerulean eyes trained on you, “ich mach das nur, dass du von Anfang an zusehen kannst, wie ich Blue Lock vernichte. (I’m only doing this so you can watch from the beginning as I crush Blue Lock.)
“Und da ich sowieso nicht auf die Bank gehöre, macht’s mir nichts aus, wenn jemand meine Jacke aufwärmt. (Also, since I won't be benched anyway, I don’t mind having someone warm up my jacket for me.)” And with that, he sauntered off towards the centre of the field, the self-satisfied grin still tugging on his lips.
“He’s such a jackass,” Raichi scoffed, his jaw locked and a vein protruding from his neck. “Now I wanna play even more, just so I can teach him a lesson.”
“Now now, let’s not get hasty,” you chuckled, holding the Bastard München jacket in your hands. “As much as I understand where you’re coming from, I don’t think it’s a good idea to pick a fight with our guests on the first match day.”
The fact that you knew about the auction system and livestream you’d keep hidden for now.
“While I really don’t like the guy,” Kurona cut in before Raichi could add anything else, “I still think you should wear the jacket. It won’t do anyone any good if you really get sick. You can still go get yours after the match.”
“As much as I hate to admit it, I agree,” Isagi sighed next to him. “It is probably for the best.”
“Fine, fine,” you mumbled, sliding your arms through the comfortable sleeves of Kaiser’s jacket, bunching it up at your wrists so it wouldn’t cover your fingers.
And with that, the whistle signalled the start of the match.
To no one’s surprise, the match was shaping up to be a great one from the start, the quality and speed of the plays upped significantly with the inclusion of the top league players. Though, for some reason or another, you just couldn’t tear your eyes away from München’s number 10, the same number currently decorating your back.
You knew Kaiser was good, considering he was hailed as a prodigy for the New Generation World XI. And yet, seeing him play was a whole different experience from watching the tapes. From his superb ball control to his efficient movements and precise awareness of the field, all culminating in a lightning fast Kaiser Impact, he basically demanded your attention to be on him.
So when his gaze crossed yours after scoring a goal, you felt like you were getting caught red handed by the amused crease of his eyes. With the way heat shot up your body in embarrassment, you might not have needed his jacket anymore.
By the end of the match, your brain felt as tired as if you had played yourself, trying to keep up with the new level to which football at Blue Lock had been raised. Subsequently, you zoned out for most of Ego’s explanation of the auction system, only to zone back in as Kaiser’s 300 million Yen bid was displayed for everyone to see. And while you swallowed hard at that number, the striker in question seemed rather unfazed.
Instead, he sauntered over to where you were standing, still wearing his jacket. You were halfway out of the garment already when he came to a halt in front of you, his long fingers tangling in the fabric to keep it wrapped around your shoulders.
“Hast du nicht gesagt, dir ist kalt? (Didn’t you say you were cold?)” He asked, blue eyes sparkling down at you with an unreadable expression. “Behalt sie an. Zumindest bis du deine eigene holst. (Keep it on. At least until you get your own.)”
“What? No!” You protested, further trying to shrug off the jacket. Despite shoving it back down to where it came from, a small part of you agreed with him, not wanting to give it back quite yet. “You need it more than I do!”
“Hm? Es ist süß, dass du dich um mich sorgst, (It’s cute that you’re worried about me),” he teased, amusement written all over his face, “aber es ist wirklich unnötig. (but, really, it’s unnecessary.)”
“Absolutely not! If you get sick because of me, I’ll never hear the end of it,” you groaned, finally wrestling yourself out of his jacket and shoving it in his arms. “So just take the damn jacket, Kaiser.”
“Nenn mich einfach Michael, okay?) Just call me Michael, alright?)” One finger tilted up your chin, so you wouldn’t avoid meeting his gaze any longer. “Immerhin kennen wir uns gut genug, dass du dir meine Jacke leihst. (After all, we’re close enough for you to borrow my jacket.)”
“Whatever you’re trying to play here, cut it out!” Before he could have a chance to feel the heat rising to your cheeks, you whirled around to make a swift exit and get your thoughts in order again.
In that moment, you were so distracted by the blond, you’d forgotten the whole world could see you wearing his name on your back. You’d later be reminded of it when seeing comments flooding social media, cooing about the gesture or speculating about your relationship with one another. But that was still far from your mind at present, which was still trying to figure out his reasons for behaving like he did.
Meanwhile Kaiser, who watched you retreat into Blue Lock’s hallways, couldn’t stop the smile from tugging at his lips. Perhaps someone here was worthy of devoting his time to after all.

safe and sound \\ alexia putellas x bronze!reader
This is for @patriwoso who requested this many months ago! I hope I did it justice :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Y/N Bronze.
Lucy’s little sister.
Alexia thought she had zero to no chance of you saying yes to a first date due to your older sister. When you said yes, her whole demeanour changed. Everyone can see how much Alexia loves you, except your sister. Keira had expressed Lucy’s concerns with you and you shake them off as you don’t care what Lucy says. Yes you love Lucy and she’s your best friend but her older sister concerning phase is getting old and you’re annoyed.
A tight arm pulls you out of your slumber and a kiss on your shoulder blade makes you turn around with a soft smile. Alexia pushes a stray piece of hair from your face before kissing your lips softly.
“Good morning my angel”
“Good morning Ale”
“We have a little time before the match. So you and me, breakfast date?”
“Sounds divine”
You kiss Alexia as she rolls you on top of her, straddling her waist. Alexia showers you in compliments before taking you to the actual shower to get cleaned up before your date. You get dressed in a cute, summer outfit and Alexia does a double take when she walks back in the room after feeding Nala and is speechless.
“Freeze bebita, don’t move. Dios mio where is it?” Alexia rummages through the drawer for the polaroid camera, only to find it has no polaroids inside. Scrambling for her phone, Alexia takes many photos and stares at you lovingly.
“Are you ready to go?” You nod and your hands intertwines as you go downstairs to leave. Getting to Alexia’s car, she opens the door for you and gives you a peck as you get in. On the way to the café, you get a text from Keira that Lucy’s in a grouchy mood she she will probably be a little over protective today. You sigh and slouch in you seat, thinking how annoying Lucy is going to be today. Alexia stops at a red light and looks over at you, putting a hand on your bare thigh.
“Forget Lucy, forget everything. For the next few hours it’s us time. No phones or anything. Just us” You nod and hold Alexia’s hand in yours.
“How do you always know what I want?”
“I just know you so well mi amor”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A delicious breakfast leads to a scroll through the Sunday markets and Alexia buying whatever you want. Towards the end, Alexia went to pay for somethings a few stores down so you decided to buy her a bunch of sunflowers. She comes back and you give her the flowers, making Alexia confused but happy at the same time.
“For always taking care of me and for treating me like the most delicate thing in the world. Te amo mi amor”
Alexia kisses you and you both head back to the car to get ready for the game later on.
Alexia pulls up to the stadium and you wave to the fans waiting to get a glimpse of their favourite players. You both get out and Alexia grabs your bag before you could even close the door. A look is shared between you both and Alexia shakes her head with a smug smirk that paints her face. Grabbing your hand, she pulls you gently into the stadium to prepare for the game. Little did you know, Lucy watched the interaction with a hard, ‘don’t fuck with me’ look on her face and headphones on.
As everyone is about to go, Alexia gives your a quick kiss and wishes you good luck as you’re in the starting XI. A hand on your lower back guides you out and you know it’s Alexia immediately. Lucy didn’t like that at all. She moved Alexia’s hand up before walking past you both.
Barca win the game 5-0 unsurprisingly as the team is one of the lower teams in the league. You scoring a hattrick and Alexia assisting the other two goals. Turning slightly to your left, Keira and Lucy seem to be talking about something that’s getting a little heated. You keep watching them and two strong arms wrap around you and soft kisses on your cheek.
“You played good princesa”
“Thanks Ale”
Looking back at Keira and Lucy, Keira gets fed up and walks away. You sigh and start to walk into the locker room with Alexia following you like a lost puppy. You both quickly shower and leave to get home to have leftovers and cuddle on the couch. Tying the last knot in your shoe lace, a presence next to you grabs your bag. Alexia holds out her hand and you take it silently. A scoff is heard from behind you as you both are about to walk out and you turn to see Lucy rolling her eyes. About to comment on Lucy’s actions, Keira signals not to engage but you ignore her, it’s enough.
“What’s your problem?”
“Nothing, leave me alone”
“Well it sure is something. Don’t think I haven’t seen all the times you tell Keira or someone about how Ale treats me after she does something. I knew it was you who told Mum about the incident and how you pulled Ale’s arm off me earlier. So Luce, what’s your problem?” You finish with a loud and angry tone in your voice, one that is usually soft and almost quiet.
“Not here” Lucy mumbles as her behaviour is finally being called out.
“Why not? You behave like this in front of everyone”
Alexia pulls on your arm and whispers for you to stop. Shaking your head and you turn back to Lucy, determined to find the reason why.
“Just drop it okay, for crying out loud!” Lucy swings her bag over her shoulder and storms out.
Keira mumbles to come over later and talk to Lucy as she’s going to Aitana’s. Silently agreeing, Keira hugs you and goes after her girlfriend. Tears begin to well up in your eyes as you face Alexia. She pulls you into a tight, secure hug and whispers that everything will be okay. Saying goodbye to your teammates and hopping into Alexia’s Cupra was your favourite part of the day (when you usually love training).
Alexia decided that after what happened in the locker room, takeaway is the best option for dinner. Ordering the few different things from your favourite pizza ship, the doorbell rings while you’re in the shower and Alexia opens it to find Lucy holding the pizza and sides. Alexia moves out of the way, silently inviting Lucy in. The pizza is placed in the living room and Alexia quickly mentions getting something from the bedroom. Running up the stairs, Alexia goes into the bathroom gently alerting you of her presence.
“Bebeita, pizzas her and also Lucy” The shower turns off and you wrap yourself up in the towel Alexia’s holding.
“Did she say what she wanted?” Alexia shook her head.
“Okay, I’ll be down in a minute” Alexia decided to give you some privacy so she kisses you softly before whispering.
“Whatever happens downstairs, I’m not going anywhere” Before giving you the softest forehead kiss.
Five minutes later, you come downstairs and Lucy stands up quickly.
“I may or may not have come to my senses”
It’s your turn to roll your eyes before gesturing for Lucy to continue as you all sit on the couches. You lean back into Alexia and of course hold her hands.
“I did some thinking and realised my behaviour since you two began dating was not sister or best friend like. I want to apologise and say I’m sorry for all the death glares, eye rolls and scoffs” Squeezing Alexia’s hand, you silently tell her it’s going well, so far.
“I guess I’m still in over protective, older sister mode. I realise, with Keira’s help, I need to cool it. I can see that you two are so in love with each other and Alexia treats you like the most delicate thing. Bienvenido a la familia Alexia” (welcome to the family Alexia)
You look back at Alexia, realising she might not have understood the whole speech but the last part put that beautiful smile you love on her face.
“Yeah I hope so soon” You mumble but Lucy gives you a smirk.
“So we’re good?”
“Yeah, we’re good sis. Just stop being an overprotective little shit”
You both hug tightly and Alexia goes to get plates.
“Pizza time?”

Michael Kaiser, Alexis Ness — Food Analogy
PAIRING: Michael Kaiser/Reader/Alexis Ness WORD COUNT: 3.3k TYPE: Humor, Bad Flirting (it's never been worse), Rivalry WARNING(S): Canon-typical football derangement, tw Kaiser, tw Ness, tw Y/n 💀 NOTE: This is the Dog Walking origin story does anyone remember me hi?
Believe it or not, Isagi never took you for a nutcase. Can your words sometimes be a bit absurd in nature? Over the top, maybe? Yes, but the environment you’re in is easy to blame. Otherwise, you’re a respectable individual, if not aloof, always keeping a certain distance from everyone else.
This is all to say, there is no way Isagi could’ve anticipated the utter nightmare he is in the middle of right now. If there was, he would’ve ran away the moment he heard your footsteps approaching after Kaiser blocked his shot and gave him that shitty speech.
You seem to have witnessed the whole thing, and with Kaiser gone, you wrap an arm around Isagi’s shoulders. “Do you know what he said to you?”
“In German?” asks Isagi, confused. “No.”
“What’s so special about you that one of the New Gen World XI players is picking a fight with you, huh? Because it was the last goal? He didn’t even glance at me and I finished the course before you.” Your eyes narrow at him with easy, second-nature condescension. It’s the first time you’ve hurled such provocations his way. “You’re always hogging the spotlight, you know?”
Isagi huffs, annoyed by your attitude. “Try harder in the next match, then. I don’t know what you want me to do. I’ll devour you either way.”
“Stop telling people you’re gonna devour them, you cannibal. It’s so tasteless.” You click your tongue, bemused by his lack of style — no wonder you get along with Aryu — and then you gesture at Ness and Kaiser in the distance. “Look at him. He even has a servant. It’s not fair. I want someone to do my bidding!”
“Why are you acting so childish right now?”
You push him off of you like you weren’t the one who got so close to him in the first place, then stalk up to Kaiser and Ness with the confidence of someone on a mission. At this point, Isagi knows he should look away, and yet his attention is glued to whatever is about to ensue like he’s a spectator of a car crash.
Ness offers you a fake smile and reaches out to hand you the same translation gadget he’d given Isagi earlier, but, of course, because you’re insane, you decide the most appropriate course of action is to take out one of his and shove it in your ear. He blinks.
“You seem vulnerable and easy to boss around,” you say. Wow, what a first impression. Ness’s smile slips. “I’m looking for a henchman or a goon or something similar. Are you interested?” Then you address Kaiser. “That was a cute little show you put on for Isagi. For how long did you practice it?”
“It was improvised,” he lies.
“Sure it was.”
“Who the hell are you?” Kaiser shoos you away with a wave of his hand. “Third rate actor trying to intrude on my stage. Bo-ring.”
Isagi cannot discern if Kaiser doesn’t recognize you from the U-20 match for real or if he’s just pretending in order to insult you, but his best guess is that you’re going to make him… very aware of your identity after this.
___
This is, perhaps, the most insulting thing to ever happen to Isagi.
The field falls into a conclusive silence, everyone still lingering by whatever spot they’d been in during the game before it finished. Isagi knows he’s staring at you like a serial killer, eyes drilling holes into your side profile with utmost offense. The football-induced neurosis he usually gets lost in while playing is yet to wear off, which is probably why he’s taking this to heart.
Without a doubt, you were ahead of him at least in the final moment, despite failing to stand out for the rest of the match. You’d predicted he wouldn’t cave in and pass to Kaiser and got in range, jumping in between them out of nowhere, stealing what was supposed to be Kunigami’s goal.
Though what made your outplaying him so galling is that it was all a way of picking a fight with fucking Kaiser. Not even with him, but with Kaiser. His act of relenting — of not trying to score on his own because of concepts like rationality and recognizing limits — became an instrument in this stupid fight you’ve been picking.
Then Isagi watches you figuratively spit in Kaiser’s face because, of course, your obnoxious ass can’t just win and leave it at that. No, unnecessary amounts of gloating seem to be what you run on, and now you grab Kaiser by the chin and mock his introduction, “On your knees, Bastard München.”
This is the worst transgression of Kaiser’s life. You’ve addressed him like he is a dull, unnoteworthy part of a collective, not even bothering to say his name while sporting the shittiest sneer he has ever seen. He’s pissed, and all he can do is stare in confusion. Despite his long going career as an instigator, this response (to his general existence and demeanor) is still somehow unique and, worse, effective.
When you let go of him, you withdraw your fingers from his face like he’s dirty. You shrug, then raise your hands in the air in a victorious manner, and you look happier than Isagi has ever seen you before. “Ta da. All eyes on me.”
But the shitshow doesn’t appear to be anywhere near over because while everyone else is frozen, you’re approaching him now, unperturbed by the attention you’re receiving as if it’s your birthright. Like you were made for the spotlight.
“Isagi, didn’t you say you were going to ‘devour’ me?” you ask once you’re right in front of him, your exterior growing more complacent by the minute. “Didn’t you challenge me? Seems to me like I’m too big for you to chew.”
If nothing else, though, unbeknownst to himself, Isagi, too, is insane. He has unreasonable amounts of determination and loves when things get difficult just so he can chase the satisfaction of overcoming them, among his other eccentricities. “This was just one match. We’re one for one now. I’ll defeat all of-”
“What are you two doing?!” Ness asks through a tight, passive aggressive smile. You hadn’t noticed him closing in on you, too high on your own power trip. He grabs you both, one shoulder in each hand, and squeezes with a death grip. “Do you think this is your show? This is Kaiser’s team, not the figure-out-which-good-for-nothing-is-slightly-better team. Either behave and follow the rules, or face the consequences.”
“Good for nothing? Shut up, little midfielder, you’re too scared to stand on your own feet, so you have to degrade yourself as Kaiser’s boytoy instead. I guess his shadow is a comfortable spot to hide in with how enormous his head is,” Isagi says. His tone is so matter of fact, it leaves minimal room for argument.
“He’s good, though. I can see potential in him to be almost as good as Sae. I want you to pass to me, too, Ness. Right? You can emphasize my star qualities with yours, can’t you, Ness? I can shine on you. It’s fine by me.”
It’s like two predatory animals are staring him down, trying to gauge his taste through smell alone — you with your fake innocent, curious expression, and Isagi, who doesn’t seem to realize he spewed vitriolic insults with the nonchalance of a weather cast announcement.
For sure both of you would’ve gotten a broken ankle each the way Ness is gritting his teeth right now, but emerging out of his stupor, Kaiser intervenes. And when Kaiser speaks, he commands Ness’s full attention, rendering him speechless. He pushes Ness out of the way, deeming this a fitting way to insert himself in the conversation. Then he looks you in the eyes with a… smirk? Isagi was hoping his dolour would last a little longer. “I figured out what your role is.”
“I’m not interested in starring in movies made by incompetent directors.”
“You’re going to be my love interest,” declares Kaiser, not at all fazed by your dismissal. “I’m not that bad,” he continues, because naturally, nice people always have to declare themselves as such. “I can recognize when someone has skills. You’re my darling in distress, and I need to save you from the peasantry of Blue Lock, so your talent can flourish. That’s your role.”
You continue observing him with mild amusement like what he told you was normal. Meanwhile, Isagi is wondering if your stunt earlier gave Kaiser whiplash or vertigo or something. Maybe he went and snapped. Clearly, these aren’t words coming from a sound mind.
Even Ness, who at this point should to some degree expect Kaiser to be deranged, gasps. Whether at his audacity or lack of shame, it’s not clear.
“How unoriginal. Think of a better one.” You shoo him to decline the proposal. “Besides, you already know I’m more interested in your lapdog.”
“What?!” Ness calls out, now moving onto being offended. “Are you rejecting Kaiser? And you- me?! What?!”
Isagi’s entire face scrunches. Did this man seriously not even flinch after getting called a lapdog?
Apparently no longer finding this conversation a proper source of entertainment, you wave them off dismissively and walk away without sparing them a second glance. Isagi watches as Kaiser stares creepily at your retreating silhouette with this little infatuated(?) smile on his face.
What is this lunatic so happy about, anyway? Does he even realize he was the perpetrator of his own public humiliation ritual? Leave it to Kaiser not to understand that he embarrassed himself.
Ness runs after you, yelling objections, but at this point Isagi isn’t even listening. He doesn’t want to listen. Neither are you, if the way you’re picking your ear and not responding to him while ducking out of his way is anything to go by.
After everything cools down a little and everyone has scattered about, Bachira inches towards Isagi. Easy-going as ever, hands interlocked behind his head, he says, “You’re all psychos on your team, huh? Must be fun.”
Oh… Yes, Bachira witnessed all that… Everyone did. Isagi almost forgot. The vortex of the utter absurdity of this situation sucked him in for a second there.
___
Isagi doesn’t even bother removing his sweaty uniform before he approaches you, looking all determined. He can’t get it out of his head… Did you read him? Or was it a guess? You got there too fast, as if you foresaw what he was about to do before he even decided it. “How did you know I was going to pass to Kunigami?”
“Isagi, don’t ask me narrow-minded questions. We just had a match and I need to revitalize myself,” you tell him as if what you’re saying makes perfect sense. It’s like you make it a point to phrase everything in the oddest way possible.
“Narrow-minded? Could you stop being a pain in the ass and answer me?”
“Well, you weren’t about to pass to Kaiser, and you used to be buddies with the ginger. So, pray tell, where else could the ball go?”
Surely, it wasn’t as predictable as you’re making it out to be?
“You could’ve collided with them, lost your starter spot and cost us the game without even touching the ball. It wasn’t worth the risk.” Isagi isn’t really sure why he’s even saying this. It paid off for you, but he needs to understand the intricacies of all the ways his rivals are ahead of him just so he can overthrow them. You’re another mark on his football hit list.
“Since when are you so trifling? You’re losing me more and more by the minute here.”
“What are you even on about?”
“I’m a striker. I’m sublime. I score. And you’re asking me why I chose to score?”
Isagi tries to glean some hidden wisdom from this statement — there is none — but before he can at least offer a response, Yukimiya intrudes on your conversation by talking about something wholly irrelevant.
Yukimiya berates him. You fade into the background of this conflict, observing, while everyone else makes an attempt to de-escalate the argument. To make matters worse, Kaiser makes an obnoxious entrance and delivers a useless speech about how you all better follow him and blah, blah, blah.
“What a stupid thing to say,” you point out, taking a step forward as if to challenge him. Isagi doesn’t like that he has to bear witness to you and Kaiser making eye contact again. “We’re in Blue Lock. Would the world’s best settle for just surviving?”
“None of you will be the world’s best and I’m here to show you. By the way, I meant what I told you earlier. Don’t go fading into obscurity following the wrong king. I really can’t stand it when someone doesn’t know how to use their talent, and your talent would make a good accessory to mine.”
“The only king I obey is my desire.”
“You say that now, but I’ll get you in the end.”
“Did you walk in here half naked to try and seduce me? You jezebel…”
Isagi makes the wise decision to tune out the rest of your bickering with Kaiser for the sake of his ears and mental clarity. Still, he can tell there is something here which is evading him. If he can identify everyone’s priorities — Kaiser’s need to live out his emperor fantasy, and your hedonism, and Yukimiya’s dedication to his ideals — can he use this knowledge to his advantage and come out on top?
___
You’re fighting with Kaiser again. It’s not real fighting, though, is it? Isagi has become well-acquainted with all sorts of depravity since the beginning of his stay at Blue Lock — most often had been the victim of it, even — so he can recognize it with ease. Because of this, he pays you minimal attention during the unfortunate moment when he needs to waltz by.
But the next display of obscenity, he truly does not anticipate. He turns around the corner of the hallway on the way back to his room, and what does he realize he’s seeing? Ness peeking his head out from behind the corner to watch you go at it from a distance, that’s what. Why is he even doing this? He’s always doting on Kaiser, so it’s not like it’d be weird if he was there, up close and personal. He’s literally making it stranger than it needs to be.
“What are you doing?” Isagi blurts out, before he can think better of asking.
Ness startles. Apparently he’s been focusing so intensely on… observing you and Kaiser, he didn’t register someone passing by a few inches away from him. He opens and closes his mouth a few times before eventually coming up with, “I, uh… Um, I- I… Uh.”
Isagi almost lets it go, but then Ness says,
“Everyone has their… interests and passions, so… You can’t judge me.”
“Wait, this is an interest and a passion to you?”
“Um, I, uh.” Ness’s face contorts into that reflexive creepy smile Isagi has come to expect of him. “Yes. Now go away, you’re interrupting me.” Oh no, he’s becoming confident in his… Whatever this is.
Isagi exits the vicinity with an unnecessary amount of caution. He can’t tell if the feeling of someone’s gaze burning his back is just paranoia on his part.
___
Today’s bullshit: another one of your arguments is unfolding, and this time, Isagi doesn’t have the choice to feign ignorance. You’re supposed to be splitting up in two for a practice match. Obviously this devolved into an inane dispute about who the biggest hotshot is. Isagi, holding the glorious title of ‘captain of Team B,’ tries to follow the plot of this whole thing. Mainly to figure out a way to make you and Kaiser shut up and get on with the game already because your voices now automatically register as a cacophony in his head.
“I’m not going on your team unless I get to be the captain,” you say. “And Ness passes to me.”
“I won’t play midfielder if you’re center forward!” Ness protests.
“Come on. We’d be a hit together. Stop pretending.”
“You’re putting yourself on quite the high pedestal there,” Kaiser says. “Is the altitude messing with your head? Don’t give yourself vertigo now.”
“If you died on the field, I’d do a penalty kick while standing on your corpse.”
Leave it to you to escalate things for the sake of getting a reaction out of Ness. He shakes you by the shoulders back and forth while yelling something unintelligible as Kaiser snickers, maybe finding this to be an amusing or god forbid romantic mental image.
Why are they acting like children? Isagi holds back an audible groan or perhaps an onslaught of derogatory words. He’s not sure how to solve this, though. You’ve been going in circles for a few minutes now, and Kaiser got mad when you said you’d be on Isagi’s team, and Isagi got mad when you tried to steal his aforementioned prestigious title, too.
The debate of who the superior striker is — objectively it’s Kaiser, but Isagi admires your dedication to your delusions in the face of Ness’s sectarian wrath — continues. Then, it happens. Something awful to honor your skills.
“What did you call it, Yoichi? Devouring?” asks Kaiser, before turning his attention back to you, sly smile on his annoying face and all. Then he puts his stupid hand over your loony head and pushes it aside, giving a good view of your neck. “I think in that case, I might want to take a bite out of you.”
What…
Oh my god, Isagi thinks, stomach churning, and truly, he might vomit. The state of affairs has never been more dire than this. No way that demented freak just did this without any shame?!
You open your dumb mouth, probably to respond with a snarky remark (which will inevitably somehow make this ten times more inappropriate). Isagi won’t stand for this.
Interrupting you before you’ve even begun speaking, he points an accusatory finger at Kaiser first. “You’re a pervert. Not only are you a pervert, but you’re doing it right in front of everyone. All the time! What’s wrong with you?”
He stares at Isagi incredulously. “What?”
Next, you enter the line of fire. “And you try to provoke him into doing things like this on purpose! Just so you can embarrass him! You’re a pervert in a much more pretentious and obnoxious way. You’re enjoying this!”
“What the fuck,” you blurt out. This is the first time he’s heard you sound defensive. “No, I’m not. We aren’t doing anything.”
“Yeah, we aren’t doing anything,” Kaiser agrees. “Fuck off, Yoichi.”
Isagi ignores these protests. They’re futile, anyway. He knows he’s right. Even if he isn’t, all of you deserve this slander in his opinion. For a moment, Ness makes the mistake of assuming he’s been spared, but, “You’re the worst, though. You like it when they fight over you. You have no self-respect.”
“Wh- What?! But I didn’t even do anything!”
“Yeah, that’s the thing, suck-off.” Isagi grabs him by the wrist and tugs him over to his side, apparently having decided this is the answer. “You’re going to be on my team.” Then he glances at the two of you, and that part of his brain which he tries to ignore when he’s not on the field sends a spark of joy and satisfaction coursing through his veins at the unadulterated indignation on your faces. “Deal with each other, yeah? Since you’re so inseparable.”
Noa tells everyone to hurry up, and the rest of the spectators mutter in agreement before Ness can even regain his senses and put up a fight. His eyes are wide and glossy, his jaw is hanging, and he is looking at Kaiser and then at you and then back at Kaiser with the sadness of a character in a Shakespearean play.
Kaiser looks like he is about to pop several blood vessels.
You huff, cross your arms, and pout. Why does Isagi always win?!

Pay it no mind
Part XII
In which reader confesses their feelings to Gojo, but it seems these are not returned (maybe?).
Warnings: reader is on the receiving end of rejection (kinda), and the fact that I'm obsessed with unrequited love is a warning itself. There is a mention of a stranger making unwanted advances (it doesn't escalate, but yeah), and light drinking.
Previous: Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV, Part V, Part VI, Part VII, Part VIII, Part IX, Part X, Part XI
----------------------
“It’s too loud.”
“What?” you asked.
“It’s too loud,” Shoko repeated, closer to your ear this time.
You and Shoko had decided to go out for dinner, and after that, she had suggested hitting the closest bar for a quick drink. The loud music, however, was making her wish she had picked a different place.
“Tell Gojo we will head out. There is another place not far from here; he can meet us there” Shoko half-shouted into your ear and then pressed her glass back to her lips. You nodded and took out your phone to send a message to Satoru, who was supposed to be on his way to join you both there.
After a few minutes, it looked like he had not yet checked your chat, so you thought it would be best to call him. You were going to stand up and head outside to make the call when a stranger asked “Sorry, is this seat taken?” He was pointing at the seat next to you at the counter.
You shook your head no, observing the man. He had dark hair, apparently lean but maybe a bit older than you, and was wearing a gray suit; probably a salary man who worked around the area. He took the seat. “Thanks.”
And you thought that was all, but then he spoke again. “Are you here by yourself?”
“I’m here with my friend.” You gestured to Shoko, who gave him a court nod.
The man quickly started a casual conversation with your and soon it turned into him talking too much. Ieiri was focused on her drink listening disinterestedly to him going on about how a drink is nice after a tough day at work. You forced a smile, each reply coming out sharper than a knife.
Shoko took a quick glance at you. It was obvious you wanted to end that conversation.
If he’s trying to hit on them, he’s doing terribly.
“I need to go outside for…” You were standing up, taking advantage of the fact the man had stopped talking to take a sip of his drink, but he moved his hand to reach for yours.
“Finally found you.” You felt an arm wrapping itself around your shoulders. It’s weigh was instantly familiar.
Shoko looked at Satoru. He had not acknowledged her yet as his eyes were on the man keeping you in your seat. She knew how this would go. It was Gojo’s usual behavior, if he saw someone trying to make a move on you, he would stand next to you to stare them down, especially if that person was making you uncomfortable. If they were pushy, Satoru would even play the part of the clingy boyfriend, pulling you close to him, whispering into your ear, just enough to make anyone back off.
The man immediately pulled his hand away from your arm.
Shoko smiled. Wise choice.
Satoru’s stare could be menacing, even over the brim of his glasses. Ieiri had seen it a few times, and she understood why fellow sorcerers both respected him and feared him, and why average men would be easily intimidated by him to the point of refraining from approaching you if he was around. The ones who were not under the impression that you were Satoru’s, would certainly not risk it.
“I was going to call you. Shoko wants to go to somewhere else.” You looked at Gojo.
“Could I get your number before you leave?” the man spoke to you.
Satoru disliked individuals like this. He knew he would find this man disgusting since the moment he spotted him talking to you when he entered the bar. There had been something about the way you were sitting, and how you kept averting your gaze from him that told Satoru you wanted to get out as soon as possible, and when that stranger had tried to touch you, he just had to intervene.
Of course, he knew you could handle yourself just fine, and you were with Shoko. If push ever came to shove, she would step in, he had no doubt. But that did not mean he would not do it if he was able to.
You were looking at the man, ready to refuse his request when you felt Satoru’s gaze on you. If Shoko had been paying more attention, she would have realized that what was going to happen next was not part of the script.
Gojo turned his head to you and leaned down to press a kiss to your cheek, except that you turned unexpectedly and his lips ended up meeting yours.
One second, maybe less.
You were surprised, but Satoru did not seem affected at all by the accidental contact. He swiftly turned back to the man and said “Sorry, but our friend wants to leave already.”
The man’s face revealed he had finally taken the hint. “Oh, sorry, I didn’t know.”
At least he has the decency to look embarrassed, Satoru thought when the man changed seats, but his arm did not leave you until you were all finally outside.
“Took you long enough to get here.” Shoko looked at Gojo.
He smiled and wrapped an arm around yours and Shoko’s shoulders. “But I made it, didn’t I? Now where do my precious friends want to go?”
***
Shoko guided you to a different bar. The place was quieter but now your head was louder.
One second, maybe less.
You figured Satoru had meant to go for your cheek. It was unnecessary, really; in those type of scenarios, if one of you wanted to help the other out of an awkward situation, you would just decline or stick to each other, whispering loud enough so whoever that was bothering you would get the message.
Kissing your cheek would have been an aggressive way of demonstrating you were (fakely) taken. It was an accident, you repeated to yourself, watching Gojo’s lips move as he talked with Shoko.
You had kissed each other’s cheeks before. It was not that different, and it had been just a second, not even enough to recall how his lips had felt against yours. Why were you giving it so much thought? Was it just curiosity?
Satoru glanced your way and smiled.
Oh, no. No, no, no.
You could not possibly be curious enough to want to kiss him again.
***
“Shoko is home.” You were looking at your phone, specifically at her text saying she had made it home all right.
Satoru only hummed in response and plopped into your couch.
After a few drinks together, Shoko had left you and Satoru. When you decided it was time to call it a day, he walked you home and, unsurprisingly, said he was too tired to go back to his own place.
You observed him. Satoru looked too big for your apartment, and he was never one for trying to take little space. Legs and arms all spread over your couch, making it look small despite being the larger one of the set.
“You look like a starfish.”
A laugh came out of him and you watched his Adam’s apple move. “Good. I always wanted to be a star.”
Satoru expected you give him a smart comeback, but it never happened. He fixed his posture to look at you staring at him.
“Enjoying the view?”
He saw an indescribable expression on your face for a second, and maybe, in a different lighting, he would have noticed a blush on your cheeks.
Huh…
He was not really expecting to get a reaction from you.
“You wish.” With that, you walked to the kitchen.
It did not take long for Gojo to be standing behind you, peeking over your shoulder.
“What are you doing?”
“You are so nosy.” You added half a teaspoon of sugar to the coffee you had poured into your favorite mug.
You felt the hairs on your nape stand on end when Satoru half whispered in your ear “Isn’t it good that I am sometimes, though?” You realized how close he actually was.
Why was it making you nervous? He had always been like this after all.
You recalled the interaction with that man from earlier. Maybe sometimes having a nosy friend was indeed helpful.
“Thank you.” Your voice came out lower than you had intended,
Satoru tried to look at you, but your eyes were fixed on the coffee mug your hands had firmly secured.
“For what you did at the bar,” you continued, turning to him. “I could have handled it, but thanks.”
He remembered that man, and then his expression when he had realized you would not give him your number,
“And sorry about the… the kiss.” A somewhat nervous smile appeared on your face.
That was right, he had kissed you, briefly and accidentally. Only then it dawned on him that he should probably apologize too, even if he believed it was nothing to apologize for.
“You moved.” He was smiling out of nervousness too now. “But don’t mind it. It was barely a kiss.”
Satoru questioned himself. Why did he not want to apologize? He saw you nod. So, he was right, it was barely a kiss.
He went on. “It’s nothing.” But he should probably stop. “In other cultures, friends do it all the time.” Why could he not stop?
You looked a bit confused, processing what he was saying. He had travelled more than you had, so maybe he knew about that, right?
While you were internally debating whether or not he was right, Satoru was facing his own personal battle and was far more confused than you were.
He knew he had not kissed you on purpose, but that did not mean he had never thought of doing it. In his teenage years, he had blamed such desires on his hormones. He was young, too young, and seeing his dear friend blooming before his eyes has nursed strange thoughts in his head back then.
But now, he was an adult man, was he not? Still, more often than he would like to admit, Satoru would entertain those thoughts, and then scold himself for it.
He could not tell you about that, of course not; he was convinced you would be aghast if he ever did. You would consider him a wicked friend.
“Do they?” Your voice was soft, and Satoru remembered how close you were as you did not need to speak louder for him to hear you.
“They do. It’s a way of showing affection, isn’t it?” He saw your gaze slowly drop to his lips. You were leaning in, and he knew he should not give in, but what can you do when you are so close to something you have wanted for so long?
Before he knew it, he had closed the distance.
Satoru’s kiss was longer than the one at the bar, but shorter than you would have liked. At that moment, you thought that maybe people did kiss the way they felt, because no other person had kissed your lips so tenderly before. For a few seconds, you thought he was truly trying to convey his love for you, but then, he pulled away and averted his gaze.
You were the first to break the silence. “That was… different.”
Satoru had stopped because, as gentle as he wanted to be around you, he could feel himself losing control, and there was no way he would ruin a lifelong friendship over a moment of weakness. That assuming he had not ruined it yet.
He could not read your expression and it terrified him. Had you hated it?
“Yeah, different, but...” How could he salvage this? “...We are friends, so it doesn’t mean anything, right?”
You met his eyes and Satoru thought he had made things worse just before seeing the ghost of a smile on your lips. “Yeah… Right.”
That night, you tossed and turned for a while before finally falling asleep, exhausted from overthinking, while Satoru, who always slept better when he stayed over, or so he said, laid on the futon in your room, wide-awake, a bit too aware of your sleeping figure on the bed.
He had replayed the events of the night a hundred times and scolded himself just as many.
He sighed.
That’s why you don’t give in to temptation. You will only end up wanting more.

Word count: 1500+
Warnings: emotional and mental stress
I couldn't resist. Azriel is so🥵
Part IX | Part XI
Tumblr media
Shimmering light woke you up from a slumber so deep your head throbbed with pain. And it wasn't only your head. Every part of your body felt heavy and painful. What happened? With still closed eyes you searched your memory.
Solstice. Tamlin decorated your cottage and made a fancy dinner. He gave you a delicate pendant that you felt resting on the sensitive skin between your collar bones now. You cried and then you danced. As lovely memories slowly flooded back you felt your lips stretching into a smile. Behind your eyes a picture of Tamlin playing the fiddle shone brightly and your heart started to race.
And then it all fell down as pieces of shattered mirror. The dark figure invaded your happiness and took it away along with the light. Rhysand. A male who claimed to be your family, your brother. He came, snatched you from Tamlin and winnowed you away. And Tamlin just stood there, unmoving, letting him to take you. Stinging pain of betrayal wiped the smile from your face. He didn't fight for you. He simply gave up on you.
When you stepped out of darkness there was unfamiliar room full of strangers who stared at you. You couldn't make out their faces because as soon as your feet touched the floor, an excruciating pain took over, crushing your body from the inside out.
Were you dead? Certainly no. It wouldn't hurt this much if you were, right? So you were alive then. You knew you had to open eyes at some point, but you were scared to find out where you were. As far as you could say, this definitely wasn't your bed. It was too comfy, too soft, sheets felt too smooth. The scents around you were novel to you, too.
A small rustle of wings sounded on your left, something overshadowed the bright light and rough fingers touched your hand lightly.
"Aury?" The quiet voice was deep, much deeper than Rhysand's. A shiver ran down your spine, hair on your neck stood up. It was so sensual sound that it made your heart beat faster again.
The smell of cedar and early morning mist filled your nose and for a moment it felt like being back home in your cottage. Slowly you cracked your eyes open. You weren't ready for the too bright light to hit your eyes and you had to blink through the pain. But as soon as your eyes got used to it, you saw him.
It was the most beautiful male you'd ever seen in your life. He was even more handsome than Tamlin and his exact opposite in so many ways. His face with full lips and hazel eyes with gold flecks had to be carved by gods, by Mother herself. His hair was dark as night, ears round. He apparently wasn't a High Fae.
Behind him a pair of folded wings rested, visibly bigger than Rhysand's. His body, wrapped in tight black shirt and breeches of same colour, seemed to be another masterpiece, but you didn't want to explore this topic any further. It was too dangerous, too intriguing.
On his wrists two cobalt blue gems shined. Your eyes fell to his hands and you almost gasped. Otherwise smooth looking tanned skin was on his hands marred with deep burn scars. You couldn't even imagine such kind of hell that could mark fast healing Fae like this. You'd never treated burns, but you instantly knew what massages and herbs you could use to prepare oils and ointments to ease the pain and twitching of affected muscles. How could you know something like that, was beyond your understanding. It had to be something that belonged to the forgotten part of your life.
However beautiful he was, he didn't belong to this light coloured room. Even surrounded by bright light, his presence was attracting the darkness that gathered and swirled around him in thick tendrils.
You probably looked like an idiot staring at him with open mouth, because he smirked and a faint blush tinted his cheeks. "You are looking at me as if it was the first time we met," he cooed amused, leaning forward. "How do you feel?"
You didn't answer, still too stunned by his appearance. The amount of emotions invading your simple life lately, was so confusing, making your headache even worse. You closed your eyes, hoping it would help.
The male raised an eyebrow and then frowned. With a rustle his wings spread out to shade the bright light. "Better?"
You nodded. That helped a lot and you immediately felt better.
He cleared his throat. "Rhys had some urgent High Lord obligations, but he should return soon," the stranger seemed to be disappointed. He straightened in the armchair, his eyes giving you a pleading gaze.
Why? What did that mean? You felt uneasy. You looked up at the ceiling, hoping to find the answers written there. You didn't understand a thing and you had enough of this.
As if he heard the stranger, Rhysand rushed through the door. "Aury," he smiled as soon as he saw your eyes were open.
"Don't call me that," you snapped at him angrily as you pushed all the pain deep down and sat up. You'd never lost it, but this entire situation crossed all limits. There was only one thing you wanted. You desperately needed it. "Take me back! I want to go home!" You blinked away the tears stinging your eyes.
Rhysand halted in the middle of the room, his eyes meeting with the other male's. They both stilled, an absent look on their faces. Whatever it was, Rhysand soon looked back at you, giving you the exactly same sad gaze as the stranger did moments ago. You frowned at him, letting him see all the anger and displeasure you felt.
"Would you leave us alone for a while, Az?" Rhysand said to the other male quietly. The other male shot a longing look your way, but nodded and left.
When the door closed behind him, Rhysand stalked closer and sat down on the edge of mattress next to you. You moved as far from him as you could. He gave you a sad smile.
He sighed. "I'm so sorry for how I behaved before. I should have heard you out. The pain you suffered.. it shouldn't have happened. I sincerely apologise."
Was he talking about what happened after you winnowed? "What do you mean by that?"
"You were trying to say you can't leave that place because they cast a spell on you, but I- I was too angry to pay attention. I'm sor-"
"I don't know what are you talking about," you shouted at him, tears stinging your eyes once again.
"Aury, you-"
"Stop calling me that!" you sobbed, pushing hands to your ears. It was too much.
"Okay, sweetie," he raised his hands, trying to calm you down as if you were a frightened animal. "It's okay. Everything is okay. I won't call you that if you don't like it." Slowly he moved closer and reaching for you he tried to pull you to his chest.
"Don't even try that!"
His mouth opened and closed, but he backed, putting a space between you. "Fine, I won't. Don't be..scared. I won't hurt you."
"I want to go home," you sobbed. You couldn't care less if you sounded as some brat. You needed to be in your cottage, go to the forest to sort out your confused thoughts and feelings and pull yourself together.
"But," Rhysand said gently, "you are at home."
You shook your head. "No, I'm not. How could this be my home. I don't even know this place."
"A-.. sweetie, you are in Velaris. Don't you remember it? Velaris is your home."
"I've never heard of such place," you sobbed pulling knees to your chest.
Some emotion flashed through his face too fast for you to recognise it. His violet-blue eyes darkened. "Do you know who I am?"
You again shook your head. "Tamlin called you Rhysand, so you must be High Lord of the Night Court."
His eyes narrowed at you for a second. "Well, that's correct," he said gently. "But except of that, do you know who I am to you."
"You told Tamlin that you are my brother, but I. Don't. Know. You," you said through gritted teeth.
He watched you silently, thinking, his face blank. "You don't remember me." You shook head. "Do you remember what happened that night? When you lost your wings."
"I don't remember having any wings. I don't know this place. I don't know who you are. I just want to go back home," you cried.
Rhysand reached for you, pulling you closer and this time you allowed that. "Nobody will hurt you again," he whispered as he caressed your head and back. "I promise you. We will solve this together. Just give me a chance."
You cried so hard you didn't notice the other male returned. He handed Rhysand a cup of tea. Giving you a worried look, he silently left again.
"Here, sweetie, drink this tea. It'll help."
You strongly doubted it could help solve the confusion, the amount of feelings that made it all even worse or piercing pain stabbing into your heart, but you accepted the cup anyway. After drinking the strange smelling tea, you became sleepy and before you knew you again fell asleep.

i. so 2 days ago, i think i almost got kidnapped.
ii. there's this line in mitski - okay, so i'm a stereotype but - she says i've been big and small. sometimes i think she means physically. and sometimes i think she means like how it feels small to be alone in a grocery store.
iii. i'm babysitting my brother's dog. my dog is much bigger than his; goblin's 70 pounds and comes up to my hip. but his dog (an australian shepherd) - she's tiny. like 30 pounds or something.
iv. i called my sister before i called the cops. it felt like a big move to call the cops. i didn't like doing it, either. i felt like, embarrassed this happened.
v. it was getting dark, right. and the rain had really started in earnest. and we were coming off a trail we'd seen a guy on, deep in the woods. this white unmarked panel van was just sitting there, at the trailhead, lights on, engine on. i had to squeeze past it to get to my car. i kept telling myself - this is fucking stupid to be freaked out by. it's just a guy. it's just a van. it's not a movie. move along.
vi. sometimes i think about those chain emails that used to go around. you know, the ones with "survival tips for women" in them. in the age of the internet, where did all of those go? where is the masterlist of holding your keys in your fist? did anyone print that up and put it on their wall. do they sleep beside it.
vii. the van started to move while i put the dogs in the car. very slowly, he turned and backed up so he was blocking me in. i felt my heart racing. the rain was in my eyes. he opened his front door, just stuck a foot out. my brother's dog immediately freaked out. i had to physically restrain her. he closed his door. i got into the car with the dog, through the passenger side. i locked everything. the van stayed behind me for a little bit. when he finally left, i found him parked at the edge of the road. he waited for me to turn, and then followed me for a few intersections.
iix. i just couldn't stop thinking - this isn't real. this isn't something that happens. you're making this a bigger issue than it needs to be. this is the way it would play out if you were on tv. i didn't want to be that person, you know? jumping at shadows. freaked out about nothing. you know, a hysterical woman.
ix. my friends and i joke over dinner that i would be the first to die in a horror movie. then we go around and assign death warrants - who dies first, who is the serial killer. there are times in my life i have been jokingly folded to fit into the trunk of a car. every time someone picks me up, even in a friendly way, i have the sudden, horrible thought: oh. i couldn't really stop this from happening if things got too far. that feels small and big all-at-once. like breathing in glass particles.
x. i didn't get the license plate. the cops were not helpful. i didn't really expect them to be, but i didn't want anyone else to get hurt, just-in-case something bad would have happened. not that i get to assume something bad would have happened. it feels small and stupid. i feel like an idiot. what if calling the cops causes more hurt than good? maybe calling them was foolish. the first thing i said when they picked up was - uh, so i don't really know if this is a big deal or not but i think something weird just happened.
xi. in the last 48 hours i have gone to work and done my laundry and walked the dogs some more. i didn't even bring it up with my therapist. on the phone with the police officer, she said - you're actually being very calm about this. it is just something that can happen, i guess. i think i'm probably not the only person walking around with something that should-be-big rattling around inside of them. since nothing did happen, i don't really get to be upset. bad things have happened to me. i am statistically speaking extremely lucky.
xii. sometimes i think about all the diary pages that exist. and all the places where people hide the things that are too horrible to look at, even if it's a memory. it feels big-and-small to know that my diary knows the worst of me. it feels big to know someone else probably has the same diary. like - ha! same trauma. how endearing. i told my sister - well this is just part of being femme presenting isn't it.

Here’s a 30,000 word document about the implications of Brit’s promotion within the Marshford group and how it would lead to her eventual demise and also how she rose to the top in her group. It also delves into her relationship with Mallick, whose existence, I believe, is an obvious literary reference to an ancient Roman play read by only me and three other people currently alive. I translated relevant passages and included them in my work. I got understimulated around page 8 so I did take a break to pierce myself in the same spot that I believe Mallick would have a piercing. If you read my fics on AO3 you will already be familiar with the location.

Health and Hybrids (XI)👽👻💚
[I can't remember the original prompt posters  for the life of me but here's a mashup between a cryptid!Danny, presumed-alien!Danny, dp x dc, and the prompt made the one body horror meat grinder fic.]
PART ONE is here PART TWOis here PART THREEis here PART FOUR is here and PART FIVE is here PART SIX is here and PART SEVEN is here PART EIGHT is here PART NINE is here PART TEN is here and this is part eleven.
💚 Ao3 Is here for all parts
Where we last left off... Bart and Wally bonding! Wally met his kid relative's weird friend. Stuff got thrown. Everyone enjoyed the thought of playing around with offbrand floam in the ao3 comments.
Trigger warnings for this story:  body horror | gore | post-dissection fic | dehumanization (probably) |  my awful attempts at following DC canon. On with the show.
💚👻👽👻💚
Danny’s alone when the itch starts.
And. When it starts. It’s just that: an itch. It tingles, and Danny tugs at the loose skin with his claws, and it fades into the choir of background pain in his mind.
It happens a few more times. In his stomach. In his eyes; Danny bats at the sensation with his hands, curled and careful, and it…tamps down. A little.
And then the itch stops going away.
He gets visitors; the humans like to play with his toys, and Danny lets them, because they’re young and he’s nice and they’re not mean to him. Not like— Their names escape him, but all the beings in his head are blue and firey and loud and not nice, and the green inside his blood burns instead of soothes.
Danny presses himself against the mattress of the cot. His towel wraps around his middle, to catch the Grossness. The young humans are nice. They are not a threat. Even when they’re loud, they’re not mean; they’re just young, and just playful.
He doesn’t want to play with them today, though. They ask him to play, and he bats them away with his claws put away inside his skin.
The itch has become a burn. He can’t play with them today.
It hurts.
Danny hurts.
Danny hides under his blankets and then he doesn’t, because the blanket on his cot scratches up against his itchy parts and he can’t sleep away the burn.
He wants to hide in his core. He wants to hide. He doesn’t, because he’s safe here, and if he goes back into his core then his flesh body won’t heal.
But it hurts.
Danny doesn’t even notice he’s curled up and crying until something touches his shoulder. It’s gentle, but Danny is so scared. He bolts upright—
Oh. The touch is from the alien’s friend. The lady.
He knows this lady.
…Danny starts crying again. He doesn’t know why—except everything hurts, and he’s unhappy, but he’s well fed and well watered and clean, so why does his body hurt so bad?!
The lady pulls back his sheet, makes quiet, insistent, worried words, but Danny can’t understand her and everything hurts and he doesn’t know why and he wants his mom. Danny wants Mom, and she’s not here, and she never ever ever will be ever again—
There are gentle hands on his body. They hurt, even when they’re light and gentle.
Danny cries.
The human lady peels back his towel, and—he doesn’t know what she sees, but she says something stern and not as gentle-quiet and Danny hisses, scared, so scared, so hurt, so frightened.
The soft words come back. A soft touch to his shoulder. An apology.
The whole world hurts, and no one can help him.
…And then there’s a hissing sound.
Something very very cold touches him.
It’s not real cold because it doesn’t make him feel better, but his nerves are trying to interpret what he feels and what they come up with are a “????” that blisters across the wildfire of pain burning through him.
The hissing sound comes back. Again. More cold. More—something else touches him. He’s moved. Something else touches him again.
It hurts. Everything hurts. Everything hurts and Danny wants to go home and go to bed. And he can’t. And—
Someone pulls his blanket. Something pulls at him. There are hands, and there is a hissing sound, and there is a sensation of something Cold and Wet touching him across his burning abdomen.
Danny cries.
He cries.
He cries when a pillow appears in his arms and he cries when his spaceship appears there too. He cries when he’s alone and he cries when he knows humans are there. He cries, and he cries, and he doesn’t stop crying until the wildfire pain becomes only a burn, and then only a pain, and then only an itch again.
It itches.
Danny sniffles through brand-new sinus cavities. He itches. Everything is sore and he’s unhappy.
He’s also…on his back. The lady is there in the chair the buzzing-human-adult left there after its own visit. She is slumped over.
Danny doesn’t have the strength to purr for her attention. He’s too tuckered out.
He just. Warbles.
Thankfully the noise is enough. The woman carefully rises in her chair. She doesn’t move for a second.
Danny warbles again. A little quieter. A little more scared.
She leans closer. She says something—the syllables don’t make sense, but she sounds wet, and she sounds tired, and she sounds sad. And she’s still sitting with him anyway. There’s something in her hand, and—
Danny taps the occupied hand. What is it?
She makes a noise. She lifts her hand.
Danny moves the hand instead of the object of interest. It’s objectively easier.
The item is a spray bottle. He sniffs it. Smells kinda weird. Does it taste like anything? He presses his tongue to it.
Well. That tastes bad.
…And then his tongue goes numb.
Oh.
Oh!
And Danny’s still too tired to purr, but he makes a few grateful noises anyway, and the lady pets his hair with her blue-gloved hands.
The itching is gone. Numbing spray doesn’t last forever, but it’ll work for now. He has to rest while he can.
The burning will be back.
But for now...he’ll nap.

What Tai Sui is and Why Everyone Should Read It
So if you follow me, over the past couple weeks, you've probably noticed me obsessively screenshotting and posting about a book called Tai Sui. And now that I've finished it, I'd like to try and convince y'all to give it a chance.
What Is Tai Sui?
Tai Sui is a chinese web novel—a relatively unpopular work by the very popular author Priest (author of Guardian and Sha Po Lang, among others). Unlike a lot of the most popular web novels on tumblr, it's not a danmei. It's in fact rather important to the plot and themes that there is almost entirely no romance, but I promise you, it is absolutely worth it regardless.
What is Tai Sui About?
Tai Sui is a steampunk xianxia cultivation story. For those unfamiliar with xianxia and cultivation, this is a particular genre of Chinese historical fantasy.
The official summary of Tai Sui reads as follows:
“If I had a choice, I would only want to be a little insect in the mundane dust, born in confusion, dying in mediocrity, never seeing the light of day beneath the fog of Jinping City.
Better than taking this wrong road to heaven.”
You may have noticed that this summary is not in fact really a summary. It gives you a glimpse into the story's themes, mood, and destination, but it doesn't exactly tell you what happens in it.
That's because Tai Sui is one of those works that's incredibly hard to summarize. The story is incredibly wide in scope and changes massively over its course, to the point that any summary that encapsulates the whole thing is going to feel like a spoiler. However, I can try my best to add a little detail without giving too much away.
Tai Sui is the story of Xi Ping—an obnoxious, trouble-making rich boy with no interest in cultivation—who gets unwittingly involved in a plot to resurrect the "evil god" Tai Sui. This plot pulls him into the cultivation world against his will and, over time, threatens to rewrite everything he is.
Tai Sui is the end of immortality.
Why Should You Read Tai Sui?
Tai Sui is one of the most compelling stories I have ever read. It is a love letter to the power and promise of the whole world and its many mundane people. It also has some of the best worldbuilding I have ever seen.
Tai Sui is written in omniscient perspective, and though Xi Ping is very much the main character, as the story progresses, we spend more and more time alongside characters that aren't him. By the time the novel ends, his entire continent is at stake, and we the audience know that continent and its troubles inside and out from countless angles. Everyone from the immortal demigods of the cultivation world to the most wretched, miserable paupers is given a grand sense of emphasis.
Tai Sui is a deconstruction of the cultivation genre. It establishes a magic/cultivation system and its history, lets the main character live in that system for a while, and then dives deep into that system's depths. It looks at the cultivation genre, at the idea of people who leave behind their status as mortals for greater things, and asks "How does this really work?" and "Is this how the world should be?"
Tai Sui is the story of countless people who were never supposed to be powerful coming together to make the world a better place. It's well written (and very well translated), exciting, heartbreaking, and incredibly beautiful. It's also funny as hell.
I cannot recommend this story enough.
Warnings/Caveats
As I said before, Tai Sui is a deconstruction of the cultivation genre. If you're unfamiliar with this genre, while the book is certainly readable, you are going to be thrown head first into the deep end with the tropes and terminology at play. It's absolutely worth the learning curve, but it will be kind of a lot. Maybe do some light googling about what a cultivator is before you pick it up. (Or just ask a fan. I think most of us would happily explain anything that would win a new reader).
There are portrayals of people/cultures in Tai Sui that are heavily inspired by minority cultures in real-world China, and some of these portrayals play into pretty harmful stereotypes. It's not SPL "Barbarian" or TGCF Banyue levels of racist, but it's something to be aware of and careful about. I'd really recommend reading from the perspectives of those from the cultures in question (including but not limited to the post I linked) for more about the issues I'm talking about.
Tai Sui's English translation is 930,000 words long. I believe this is a strength, since its length is what allows it such an incredible scope. It is also a fucking daunting commitment, and I acknowledge that.
Finally, while Tai Sui doesn't need too many trigger warnings, it does contain some pretty viscerally upsetting depictions of inequality and mistreatment, as well as a few instances of violence toward children. You can't uplift without first seeing what the people need uplifting from, and hooboy. They need it.
There's also some scenes that are technically rather violent, but the goriness is not presented as gore, if that makes sense. It never feels intensely or overly violent in the way some fantasy novels do.
Links
If all my gushing and propagandizing has convinced you to give it a try, you can find the original Chinese version (where you can buy chapters to support the author) on JJWXC.
The complete English translation is free on the website of E. Danglars, who does a truly incredible job with the translating.
Happy reading :).
