The chicken coop I started way back in April is finally done! It may not look the prettiest but I’m really proud of it because It’s made out of recycled and leftover materials from when we built our home. The only thing I purchased is the insulation.

Yesterday we picked up the chicks! We got 6 but we don’t know how many of them are gonna turn into cocks (or rooster, if that’s what you prefer to call them) yet. They’re just over a week old so we basically have ~5 weeks to do some finishing touches on the coop and to build the run.

i've been a vegetarian for like 11 years but i still support the use leather bcs it's much better for the environment than synthetic leather which is essentially plastic & far less durable (harmful manufacturing process + ends up in landfills after a few years). a lot of popular vegan food substitutes are also terrible for the environment and/or for the people farming them (ex. quinoa & agave) idk i wish people would think critically about their consumption and stop assuming that vegan = more humane

#also like some people in some areas cannot cut out meat because other food is so expensive to import #not to mention health conditions #i definitely support people at least reducing their meat consumption or turning to more sustainable meat products #like poultry and tilapia and stuff #& supporting local farms #but i hate when i mention being vegetarian and people immediately get defensive. bro im not judging you im not taking some moral high ground #ive had the same pair of leather boots for 6 years and they aren't even scuffed
