Onion and Herb Toad in the Hole

This hearty and fragrant Onion and Herb Toad in the Hole, makes a wonderfully comforting dinner on a rainy night. The goat's milk also adds a deeper flavour to this staple of pub grub!
Ingredients (serves 2):
1 cup plain flour
½ teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
2 large eggs
a heaped teaspoon Dijon Mustard
1 ½ cups goat's milk*
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 (100-gram/3.5-ounce) good quality pork sausages (like Toulouse sausages)
a Green Onion
4 leaves fresh Garden Sage 
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary
*I used goat's milk to make it suitable for my Mum, who's allergic to cow's milk
Preheat oven to 200°C/395°F.
In a large bowl, combine flour, salt and black pepper. Dig a well in the middle and break in the eggs. Add Dijon Mustard, gently whisking while gradually adding the goat's milk, until the mixture is smooth and silky. Set aside.
Place a medium baking tin on the stove, over a medium flame. Add olive oil. Once hot, add the Toulouse sausages, and cook, browning on all sides, about 5 minutes.
Thinly slice white part of the Green Onion, saving green part for later, and stir into the tin. Fry, a couple of minutes.
Finely chop Sage, and stir into the tin, along with dried thyme and rosemary. Cook, a couple of minutes more.
Place the tin in the middle of the oven, and allow to heat, a couple of minutes..
Open the oven door, and quickly pour the Yorkshire pudding mixture. Close the oven door, and cook, for a further 30 to 35 minutes, at 200°C/395°F.
Finely chop reserved green part of the Green Onion. Set aside.
Serve Onion and Herb Toad in the Hole hot, sprinkled with chopped green part of the Green Onion.

When first growing a garden, attempt to put as much effort into the first bed as possible. Land that hasn't been used for a while needs an overhaul to begin changing into a viable spot for plants. Usually these regions either lack the right nutrients or consistency of soil. If you plan to make a garden out of patch, make sure that it has all the right pre-conditions to planting.

What to use: food & herbs (correspondences)
So these are some of my correspondences for food and herbs that can be used in kitchen magic. Here I’ll be listing each item under the intent for the spell, because I usually reference by intent when I’m planning a spell. I’ll include reasoning for each item, and you can check out this post if you’re interesting in a starting point for coming up with your own food/herb related correspondences. 
Generic:
Salt can be used in pretty much anything. I use it to banish unintended effects and amplify intended effects. 
Stir deosil (clockwise) to charge and widdershins (counterclockwise) to banish unintended effects/cleanse.
For some reason, I associate apples with pretty much everything, so those can be used as a stand-in for certain dishes if I don’t have a particular ingredient. 
Healing
I generally associate staple, comfort and local foods with healing, because staple foods ensure we have the basics we need, comfort foods are good for helping us to feel looked after and local foods are often the foods that our families would give us as children when we’re sick, or our parents and grandparents would have used to help them get better. 
Foods include:
Apples
Honey
Potatoes
Barley
Root vegetables - carrots, onions, garlic, parsnips, turnips etc. 
Mushrooms
Porridge oats
Chicken
Citrus - lemons, limes, oranges
Bread (particularly homemade bread)
Butter
Milk
Jam
Eggs
Herbs/spices include:
Sage
Thyme
Rosemary
Herbs de province
Dishes/beverages:
Warm milk with honey
Egg in a cup - eggs mashed up with butter in a cup.
Soup (especially with homemade bread)

Hot lemon with orange juice, ginger and honey.

I associate local and luxury foods with love, because love is always close at hand (even if not necessarily physically close), and you share the things you most enjoy with those you love. Most of these associations are even more personal and emotional than other types and follow less logic, so they may be less likely to work for you.

Toad-in-the-Hole Skillet
From the food blog Seasons & Suppers
A hearty and delicious skillet dish of sausage, bacon, and red onions surrounded by a simple batter, accented with fresh herbs and spices. That's right, contains two kinds of pork!
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes
Servings: 6            
Calories: 466 kcal         
Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
4 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 Tbsp grainy mustard
2 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley, rosemary, chives, and/or thyme
2-3 Tbsp vegetable oil
4 pork sausages
4 strips bacon
1/2 medium red onion cut in to large slices
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, eggs, milk, mustard, and fresh herbs. Cover and let stand 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 425 F. Place oil in oven-proof skillet or baking dish (enough for a thin layer over the entire bottom) and place in the preheated oven while you prepare the sausages.
Wrap each of the sausages with a strip of bacon. Remove hot skillet with oil from the oven. Place the sausages in the middle and scatter the red onion slices around the outside. Place in the oven for 15 minutes, then remove, flip sausages and stir onions. Return to oven for a further 15 minutes. Have a baking sheet handy and re-whisk the batter near the end of this cooking time.
Remove from oven. Place skillet on the baking sheet and quickly pour the batter over-top. Return to oven and allow to cook, without opening the oven door, for 25-30 minutes, or until puffed and golden.
