I am once again pissed at diet culture. I just watched three tiktoks in a row. how to cook dairyfree. How to meal prep without carbs. How to make healthy snacks without sugar. I keep getting (and stupidly clicking on) those articles that are like "ten things you shouldn't eat if you want to lose weight" and "why xy foods are bad for you" and wouldn't you know it last week i got recommendated articles that said those specific foods were super healthy and great for weight loss and now i should "never eat" them?? Is there any food we're still allowed to eat without being made to feel guilty?

Just had to deal with non bug owner shenanigans 🥱🥱 (when I say non bug owner I don’t mean all people who just don’t own bugs, I mean THOSE non bug owners who say shit like “squish it” when you’re just trying to talk about your pets)

So exhausting and sad how normalised and even celebrated it is to hate and kill bugs. Even when it’s a pet. Insane. I don’t go off on people often but I had no choice right there bc that’s just something I don’t wanna have to deal with rn.

Many elitists seem to only find something valid as long as they are mystified by it. As soon as they can see the process being done by someone from start to finish they adapt the ‘I could have done that’ or ‘if anyone can do this its not valid’ mindset and then dismiss the matter. Case solved to them. Category found. Pigeon hole sealed.

How about you do that exact thing yourself? What about now or in those moments of free time you have coming up? Oh you don’t have the time or the patience or the tools or the inspiration or the creativity or or or or for it? If you ask me that could lead one to surmise that you would in fact not be able to do that particular thing and need to desperately reconsider your looking down on things kind of stance before going straight to critic mode in the future. It would help you and others very much.

Watching the dynamic between bonny and read vs stede and ed in s2 ep4 was such a rollercoaster cause it went from me thinking "oh no they're just like stede and ed but if they actually ran off to China together and had a loving happy relationship" to me getting further into the ep and thinking "oh no they're just like stede and ed but if they ran off to China together and their relationship turned fucked up and toxic cause that's what happens when two traumatized pirates run of to live in isolation with eachother on a whim".

I've been seeing a lot of posts lately talking about how no one comments/reblogs/replies/etc anymore, and, as someone who comments regularly on a lot of fanworks, it sometimes makes me wonder if my efforts are worth anything. Then I remember how much happiness I get from comments on my own work/posts and how much the community of fandom can matter, and I remember the power that can be found in spreading joy instead of disappointment.

So -- to everyone who comments on fanfiction: thank you. You make the writing process worthwhile and so very rewarding. You make people happy every day.

To all the people who reblog art and gifsets and meta and anything else with enthusiastic tags: thank you. You make people smile and promote interesting conversations and make being on Tumblr so much more fun.

To anyone who sends people asks about their works, whether it's unprompted or part of an ask game: thank you. You give people reasons to talk about things they love and feel like a part of a community.

To the people who makes reclists: thank you. You give us more to read while showing the author how much their work is loved and appreciated, benefitting so many people.

hot take (or not idk)

People who complain about the encanto fandom being “dead” are annoying. Encanto isn’t a huge fandom anymore but it’s still active and by forcing the narrative of “nobody likes this movie anymore it’s forgotten” is just dead wrong. Encanto being forgotten sounds hilarious because everytime ppl mention modern disney it always pops up in conversations like ALWAYS. We need to stop thinking that just because not as many ppl are interested because it’s been 2 years now means that nobody cares. Also the people saying this primarily ignore the fanarts, hcs, fics etc! People are talking about it but you’re too busy complaining to notice it!

genuinely i think if i have to see taylor swift’s name one more time i’m going to start breaking things.

okay well. one thing that i absolutely adore abt ieytd3 specifically is their dedication to The Bit. The Bit, in this instance, being the telekinesis.

i first heard of ieytd pretty much the year it came out- although i wavered in and out of the community until a few months before the sequel was announced. within that time, there was this trend in what few ieytd fics were published that they would reject the telekinesis mechanic entirely. they would pretend it didn't exist. they brushed it off as a mandatory game mechanic for a VR title, but obviously it doesn't actually matter in canon. it's unnecessary.

but seeing schell games literally go "nuh uh". and take what's a pretty significant step in a unique direction from their source material. and say "actually, not only is telekinesis canon, but we are going to make it's existence critical to the plot of our entire third installation" was so much fun. i respect them so much for that.

a lot of times i find the best sort of games are those that take their silliness seriously. they don't feel ashamed of doing their own thing- breaking the mold a little bit, if it means developing a deeper sense of identity. they took this mandatory mechanic- essentially the only obstacle between them and an untarnished james bond-esque experience- and said "we can roll with this". and just did.

i love a game that's not ashamed to be what it is.

getting into actual angry arguments: awful. terrible. going to be thinking about it for the rest of the day. leaves me seething about what I could have said differently for the rest of my life.

getting into friendly debates: ohhhhhh enrichmennce.. :) mine brain is so full and thinking..........yippie yaaaaaay!!!!!!
