Nightfall - Druig

A dark mob/gang AU Eternals fic
Paring: AFAB reader x mob!Druig | Mob!EternalsAU
*I am kind of using mob and gang interchangeably here
Note: hi. I’ve crept out of my hibernation hole to repost this fic after some edits. This is the only fic I’m motivated to finish at the moment. I will also be turning it into a fantasy gang type book with OC’s on my Wattpad that are inspired by the Eternals gang. If you're interested for that version to be posted here too, let me know! :)
warnings: 18+ | Language, violence, descriptions of gore, mentions of SA and physical assault, drugging. This is a dark fic, so dark topics will be mentioned and discussed.

The Rosaris. The most popular and elite club in the city ran by Genesis Rose- who was arguably the scariest gang leader in the state… and also happened to be your boss. He was a filthy man with one hell of a rap sheet. Murder, money laundering, prostitution, trafficking, you name it, he’s done it- or made someone else do it for him.
At surface level the Rosaris was a fancy and elegant club. One you had to be on the list to get into. No exceptions. Underneath, however, the Rosaris was a scary and torturous place, filled with drugs, sex, and booze. Only the elite of the elites got access to the Underground; they were vetted and initiated through a series of challenges. If they could handle it all, rather, if they made it out alive, they were granted access. Genesis only hired the best of the best strippers, prostitutes and bartenders- all women, all sexy and desirous- as a reward for the initiation process.
You were one of them… no, you were more than that. You were Genesis’ favorite, his go-to when he had too much whiskey or when he closed a huge deal, dragging another filthy elite into the club’s inner ring.
Thalia was his other favorite. She quickly became your best friend, taking you under her wing when Genesis declared you the best of the rest.
“Just do what they say honey bunny, there’s no use in fightin’ back. Don’t let your status fool you into gettin’ cocky- you’re still nothin’ more than a piece of ass to them.” She warned you, her southern accent present while she swiped bright red lipstick on her bottom lip. You looked down, scared of what was to become of you.
Genesis had found you on the streets. You had been kicked out of your apartment, and your ex left you battered and bruised on the sidewalk when Genesis had knelt above you. The streetlights illuminated around him, making him appear angelic; you thought he was your savior. What a stupid idea. His sinister smile was mistaken for kindness, something you would come to beat yourself up over for a long time.
He had you drugged, before Kingston- his right hand man- grabbed your limp body and threw you in the car that transported you to The Rosaris Underground- where Genesis’ office resided.
You had awoken with duct tape on your mouth, your wrists and ankles bound together, your clothes stripped off and torn. That’s when Thalia came in. She had a pitiful look on her face as she untied you.
“I’m so sorry honey,” she had whispered, trying to delicately rip the tape off of your mouth. She draped a blanket around you, and then led you to the girls’ changing room that Genesis was nice enough to give the girls.
Thalia helped you get dressed into the outfit Genesis had picked out for you. It was all red and all lace, exposing almost everything. Small strips of fabric covered your nipples and cunt, but it didn’t do much good. As you had looked around the room, you realized you were the only one in red. You thought it was just an initiation thing, to let everyone know you were the new girl. Instead, it was just because Genesis thought you would look sexy in it- and he was right. You were easily the sexiest one there, trumping all the girls below you. In any other circumstance- in any normal circumstance- you would have felt elevated, confident. Instead, it just terrified you more.  You were highly requested by the elites in the club, which made Genesis very jealous.
That’s how you became his favorite. You spent most of your nights with Thalia up in his office with his men, servicing them how they pleased. This was how you met him.
Druig- the city’s drug dealer. He had his own empire, the Aeternus. He wasn’t the leader, but he was a fundamental part of their success- he was where the money was at. Everyone wanted drugs- not just the elites. His business went farther than the others, bringing in the most money. He worked closely with Genesis, bringing him only the best of the best.
You had been working for Genesis for a year before you finally, officially, met Druig. His dark black hair was a stark contrast against his pale face and gray eyes. He always wore a leather jacket with black jeans and a pair of black combat boots. You had seen him pass through the office multiple times, but tonight… Tonight was different.
“Druig, my boy!” Genesis chuckled, grabbing Druigs cheeks in between his two hands. “What did ya bring me?”
“You don’t even want to know, Genesis.” Druig smirked, dropping off two duffel bags that were filled to the brim with various antidotes.
“I want to introduce you to my newer favorite girl, as a thank you,” Genesis said, motioning for you to come over. You got off of the lap you were sitting on- Daniel, one of the famous politicians- and walked over to Genesis. He wrapped an arm around your shoulder, pulling you in tightly.
“This is Y/N. She’s been up here for about a year now, and hasn’t had any complaints yet. Go ‘head, try her out,'' Genesis gave you a little push in Druig’s direction.
“Ah, Genesis, you know I can’t.”
“I insist.” His tone was demanding, and Druig knew he wasn’t going to let this go. He placed his hands on your waist, drawing you near him.
“I know you like to do your business privately, you can use the room,” Genesis said, pointing to a door off in the distance.
Druig thanked him, before leading you down the hallway, his hand on the small of your back.
“Dont worry,” he whispered once he knew you both were out of earshot. “We’re just going to go in for a few minutes and come back out. I’ll leave you a glowing review,” he smirked, as he pushed you gently into the room. He flicked the lights on, illuminating the cramped space you both stood in. You made your way to the bed and sat down, while he sat in the chair across from you.
You sighed as you fell on the bed, your whole body aching from exhaustion. Druig watched you closely as you closed your eyes.
“Feels good to just rest,” you whispered. Something in Druig’s chest burned as he heard your voice, an ache awakening deep inside of him.
“You must work a lot since you’re one of Genesis’ favorites,” he said.
“Yeah, the only pro of that is you’re less likely to be assaulted- well anymore then usual that is,” you muttered, rubbing your face with your hands, careful not to mess with your eye makeup. Druig stiffened in his chair as your words hit him.
“What did you just say?” He asked, standing up. You snapped your eyes open, fearing you said too much.
“Fuck, I’m so stupid. Please don’t say anything, please, I’m begging you.” You shot up, kneeling in front of him. God why did you have to speak! If Genesis knew you spilled about the filth that had gone on down here, if you had actually confirmed it, the repercussions would be insurmountable.
“I’m not going to hurt you… or let you get hurt. I just want to know what you said.” He placed a hand on the side of your cheek. You resisted the urge to lean into him. The last time you mistook someone's kindness, you ended up here.
But something inside of you urged you to tell him the truth. To tell him that by the end of the night you were sexually assaulted at least once, physically assaulted at least four times. That you, for some god forsaken reason, were treated ten times worse than Thalia- probably because she could hold her own, unlike you.
You fought the urge and instead of speaking you just undid the red lace corset you wore, letting it fall to the floor. Your chest was bare before him, but you didn’t care. Somehow, deep in your mind, you knew you could trust him. His eyes trailed over your skin, over the bruises, scars, and blood stains from earlier tonight. You had a deep scar across your lower belly, where it looked like you had been cut open before.
Druig’s hand had begun to shake with rage as you slowly turned, exposing your back to him. Red scars all over, the result of being whipped repeatedly, mostly for pleasure… some for punishment.
He snapped.
“Who did this to you?” He asked, his voice so low and deep you barely heard him.
“I… I can’t even tell you. It’s been so many people,” you broke, the tears began to flow. He knelt down, drawing you to him, petting your head as he had calmed you down. You weren’t sure why you just confided in him. It was as if some supernatural pull had calmed you, told you it was okay. That he was okay.
“Put this back on,” he whispered, handing you the red corset. You nodded and did as he said. He turned to face the door, prepared to knock it down and beat the shit out of Genesis and his men.
“Follow me,” he reached for your hand, helping you up. He led you out the door, back into the room.
“How did you like her?” Genesis asked, a smirk on his face.
“Too well,” Druig smirked, trying to play coy. “Think I could take her home with me?”
“Ah, now you know the rules my boy. She stays here,” Genesis clasped a firm hand on Druig’s shoulder.
“Alright, how much?” Genesis laughed. The idea of being paid for made you tremendously uncomfortable. You attempted to let go of Drugs' hand; he just squeezed it harder.
“Not for sale.” The tension was rising, and Druig looked around the room. The various men were now standing, facing Druig, their hands positioned questionably on their hips. Druig wasn’t dumb, he knew they were all holding on to some sort of weapon. He counted them, there were five total. Five against one? He could manage that.
“I’m going to give you one last opportunity,” Druig muttered, giving Genesis a psychotic smile, “or I will kill everyone in here.”
“I’d like to see you try,” Genesis laughed. His laugh was cut short, however, as Druig threw a punch in his direction, hitting his face just right. His cheekbone was easily shattered, causing him to grunt in pain.
The four men in the room charged at Druig, some drawing guns, others drawing knives. You shrunk back into the corner, watching in amazement as Druig took them out one by one. Blood covered the windows and the walls. Shouts were heard in the distance, and you knew that someone had saw. You raced to the door, shoving the heavy dead bolt through the lock just in time. The guards pounded on the other side, each thud making you flinch slightly as you backed away.
The grunts behind you came to a stop, as Druig knocked out the last of the men. It was Daniel. Taking his knife to Daniel's neck, he sliced it open in one quick movement, blood splattered the carpet, and Druig’s already stained clothes, as he let Daniel fall to the ground. You covered your mouth in horror at the carnage before you: bloodied bodies everywhere, brain matter and other bodily gore painting the walls, the carpet.
A low grunt caused you to turn around. It was Genesis. Druig hadn’t killed him, and he wasn’t going to.
“Let this be a lesson. I get what I want, when I want it. No one can tell me otherwise. You got it?” Druig asked, kneeling over Genesis, knife in hand.
“You bitch,” Genesis whispered, spitting in Druig’s face. Druig laughed psychotically. There was no stopping him as he stabbed his knife in Genesis’s cheek, dragging it down before pulling it out. He wiped the blood on Genesis’ shirt, before turning to you.
You were shaking, your mouth hanging open, hand poised in the air just under it. You could not believe the horror in front of you; there was so much blood.
“You’re safe now,” Druig said, shoving his knife back into the waistband of his black jeans. He had blood splattered all over his hands and his face. You slowly backed away from him, now utterly terrified at the only man who has ever killed for you.
“I promise I will never hurt you. I will, however, hurt anyone who ever touches you again.” He said slowly, as he made his way towards you. Your back hit the wall, Druig’s body towering in front of you.
He lifted a finger, trailing it along your hairline, before pushing hair out of your face. You were trembling, tears filling your eyes as you turned your head away from him.
“There’s no need to be afraid,” he whispered. “You have to trust me.”
The same feeling from before washed over you, as you turned to face him. His gray eyes now had golden specks in them, as he caressed your cheek.
“I trust you,” you whispered, unaware you were even speaking until you heard your voice, disembodied in the air.
“Good, because that door is about to break down. We have to get out of here.” He pointed to the door you had locked. At some point, you had managed to drown out the sound of the guards pounding away at it. You saw the lock bending with each bang.
“There’s a back door over here, it leads to the loading docks.” You whispered, pointing to one of the doors on the northern wall. Druig nodded, following your lead as you climbed the stairs that led to your safety.
Shouts begin to fill the stairwell as the door to Genesis’ office broke down. Panic set in, causing you to attempt go up the stairs faster. You tripped, your heels betraying you and breaking. Druig caught you by your hips, steadying you as you took your heels off, throwing them down.
Suddenly, a bullet flew past your ear ricocheting off the railing. You screamed and Druig’s grip on your waist tightened.
“Go,” he yelled, pushing you up. You continued going as fast as you could, thinking he was behind you. When you reached the door at the top you threw it open.
“Just through here… Druig?”  He was nowhere to be seen. Looking down the empty stairwell instilled a fear deep in your bones. You began to hyperventilate, panic setting in once again as you realized the stairwell was eerily silent. Tears fell over the brim of your eyes as you sank down against the wall. Fuck, when Genesis finds you it's all over. He’d probably torture you in more ways than you could count, holding you up in the dark room you had spent too many nights in, where you lost your sanity more than once.
You heard heavy footsteps climbing up the stair, and your sobs got harder, messier, as your fate was about to be set in motion. Your body shook uncontrollably, as you covered your face with your arm, trying to control the sobs.
“Shhh, y/n, it’s okay, it’s just me,” Druig whispered, rushing to your side. The relief you felt was almost euphoric as he wrapped his arms around you, pulling you tightly against him.
“Shh, it’s okay, but we have to go now,” he said sternly, trying to help you stand up. By this point, your legs were like jello, unable to move.
“Come on y/n, we have to go, we don’t have time for this.” He was more stern now, trying to reign in his annoyance at you not moving.
“I-I can’t Druig.” You sobbed, gripping tightly onto his arm.
“For fucks sake,” he muttered, snaking his arm around the back of your legs, lifting you up. “You have to tell me where to go though babe. I have no idea.”
“Turn right,” you said weakly. Druig did as you said, carrying your traumatized body through the dimly lit corridors.
“Left.”
“Another Left.”
“Through those doors,” you directed him, trying to keep your eyes open long enough to guide him. When he finally reached the loading dock doors, he threw them open stepping out into the night.
A blacked out SUV sat outside, the backdoor already open. Druig carefully helped you in, before sliding in next to you. You settled in, laying down on the seat, your head on his lap. You were too terrified to move. You had no idea who this man was, or what he belonged to. If he was doing business with Genesis, it probably wasn’t good. Had you just replaced one hell with another?
“Took you long enough- WHY are you covered in blood?” A feminine voice yelled, causing you to flinch.
“Lighten up Sersi, it’s not my blood.”
A short girl sat in the driver seat, speeding off.
“Who’s the girl?” She signed, turning to briefly look in the backseat at you.
“Y/N. She’ll be joining us.” Druig said, resting an arm on your body.
“Is she okay?” Sersi whispered, turning in the seat to face you.
“I think so. Just shaken up. It was a bloodbath,” Druig muttered, shaking his head.
“Did you kill him?” Makkari signed.
“No, but I left him somethin’ to remember me by.”
“Druig you didn’t…”
Druig smiled proudly, thinking of the deep gash he left in Genesis’ face.
“Shit, Druig! That was not a part of the plan.” The girl in the passenger seat- Sersi- yelled.
“Neither was rescuing her, so looks like it’s improv night. Hey, did Gilgamesh cook dinner?” Druig asked, quickly changing the subject as he felt your body tremble under his arm.
“No.”
“What the fuck.Thats like his only job. Can we stop and get some food then? I’m starving. How about you, y/n? Are ya hungry?” You merely nodded your head, too scared to speak.
“Druig we can’t stop anywhere with you looking like that.” Sersi said.
“Just go through the drive through.”
Sersi rolled her eyes as Makkari smiled, already pulling into a McDonald's parking lot.
***
You woke hours later, a thick black comforter wrapped tightly around your body. It was soft, something you weren’t used to. Every joint in your body ached from the night before. Memories before began to flash in your mind, You groaned, rolling over in the bed to bury your face in the pillow.
“How are you feeling?” A voice suddenly spoke beside you, startling you. It was the girl from the car. She had long black hair, half of it tied back while the other half fell over her shoulder.
“Like shit,” you muttered, moving to sit up in bed. You noticed her right arm was covered in intricate tattoos- at least the part you could see under her three quarter length sleeve.
“Do you want me to get you something for the pain?” She asked, moving over so you had room to sit.
“That would be great, thank you…” you paused, realizing that you couldn’t remember her name.
“Sersi,” she smiled, getting up and walking to the adjacent bathroom.
She grabbed a bottle from the medicine cabinet, pulling two tablets out before putting the bottle back.
“Here, it’s just Advil but it should help,” she said, handing you the two little white pills. There was a glass of water on the nightstand next to you that you grabbed to wash the pills down with. “We have stronger stuff if you need it, but I figure this is a good start.”
“Thank you,” you whispered, analyzing her kindness. She hadn’t offered you actual drugs... a stark contrast to the copious amounts of narcotics handed out daily at the Roasaris.
There was a soft knock at the door.
“Come in,” Sersi yelled. You winced, your head still splitting. She gave you an apologetic look as the door opened. It was Druig. He stepped in, his eyes darting right to you. You were a mess- your hair was all over the place, your makeup smeared down your face. His face softened as he took your appearance in.
“Sersi, why don’t you help her shower.” He said, looking at her.
“I was about to ask her if I could help her before you knocked.”
You tensed up, suddenly aware that you must look ridiculous. You blushed, looking down. The awkward tension was somehow even worse than the previous events of last night. You heard the door open before shutting again.
“Let me go grab some towels and a fresh change of clothes, then I’ll help you get in the shower- if you’re okay with that,” she said gently. You nodded, bringing your knees to your chest while you waited on Sersi.
A single tear fell from your eye as you finished reflecting on the previous night. You felt a mixture of gratefulness and fear as you curled up in the bed waiting for your much needed shower. What if Genesis found you again…? You didn’t even want to think about what he would do to you.
“You ready?” Sersi asked, bringing you out of your thoughts. You nodded, before carefully getting up and following her to the shower.

Gentle fingers grazed against the bark of the looming tree, it stood right beside the intimate cottage offering shade and protection to those who choose to reside there.
It’s been hundreds of years since she decided to move there away from humanity and those she considered her family, wanting nothing more than to be better for the people she loved and for herself.
She memorized the curves and dips of the bark, fingers softly tracing the edge of the skin, almost as if the open forest itself had a life of its own, breathing and living to protect her from the outside world.
Although some may say that living in solitary for centuries may feel lonely and isolating, she never once felt alone.
“Druig, Ikaris. Stop fighting one another.”
She huffed as the noise continued, unwillingly moving away from the forest to where the animals reside. A group of alpacas rested next to the patch of sun that met the ground, embracing the warmth, which led to two of them deciding to fight for space in the sunlight.
As she stepped into the sun she felt her body relax, welcoming the heat onto her body. She sighed, stretching her arms and softly closing her eyes for a few beats before being disturbed once again.
“Just like in real life.” She claimed, shaking her head in mock disbelief whilst laughing to herself as she allowed her eyes to glow a shade of gold, a golden aura enveloping her like a warm blanket while the foliage covering the sun from the ground began to open, leaves and branches that were once intertwined now separating from one another while sunlight began to pour over the entire ground like liquid gold.
She couldn’t help but allow a smile to form on her face as she watched the group of animals begin to roll on the grass to bask in the sunlight.
Days like these she’d love to step over the rocks that were strategically placed in the flowing river and pick berries from the bush, a woven basket looped in her arm as she held up her dress with the other to ensure she didn't slip. She felt as though today was a perfect day to make something she hadn’t made in a while, something Gilgamesh taught her, years ago.
Once at home she began to lay out all the ingredients needed.
“Blueberry or Raspberry?” She questioned, glancing at the stray cat that laid on her window sill basking in the warmth of the sunlight, the ginger fur turning a shade of golden as it welcomed the sun, meowing in response to her question.
“Yeah you’re right, I should've thought of that.” She responded, unable to stop herself from giggling as the feline hopped off the window sill to make its way to the Eternal, nuzzling its face in her dress. She picked her companion up, gently stroking the fur before feeding one berry to the animal.
“I won’t tell if you won’t.”
Hours later the Eternal found herself sitting in exhaustion, the freshly baked dessert sat on the table in front of her. She turned to look out the window to admire how the sunset peaked through the windows and danced across the room, covering it in an orange hue. Her eyes were closed for a few moments, resting for a couple minutes before she had to make her way outside once again to practise her abilities before nightfall.
There was a stampede of footsteps heard running in the distance, she hurriedly stood up, wondering what the fuss was all about. Making her way outside she walked towards the patch of land the Alpacas adored to play in, only to find nothing, glancing around in bewilderment and concern she attempted to follow where she believed the sounds came from.
As she neared the depth of the forest where the sunlight never met the grass, the view of her home shrunk, the sun slowly beginning to settle behind the moon.
The crack of a branch was heard causing the Eternal to raise her arms in defense, eyes slowly turning from her natural shade to the gold. The aura lightened up her surroundings, she opened her arms slightly, the manufactured light widened around her allowing her to see further into the depth of the forest.
She heard another step, although faint, she knew the animals that lived around her were trained to tread around fallen branches to prevent injuries to them and the nature surrounding them. And because of her abilities there were never fallen branches, she cared for the nature around her more than she did herself.
She snapped her arms up, pulling them away from each other and in return the trees parted for her, as if she was Moses and the forest was the Red Sea.
The trees continued to part as it made its way towards the culprit, shock written on their face as they stared at the woman who parted a forest like nothing.
“Sersi? Ikaris?” She exclaimed in shock, almost unable to recognise her family due to the distance between them and the years that had passed.
The three met each other halfway, embracing one another before making their way to the cottage. She asked them questions as they made their way to shelter.
“How did you find me?” She asked in disbelief, assuming Ajax never told anyone about her whereabouts, Ajax occasionally visited to check up on the Eternal and to see her progress.
“I pestered Ajax until she told me.” Sersi admitted, overjoyed to be reunited with one of her favorites once again.
She snickered in response, remembering how adamant Sersi is when she wanted information.
The three sat at the table, Sersi and Ikaris glanced around in interest, wondering how their friend had lived in the last few centuries.
“So, why the visit? Is everything alright?” She questioned, concern written on her face as she remembers Ajax’s words,
‘When we need you, we’ll know where you are.’
Sersi looked at Ikaris nervously before glancing back at the other Eternal.
“Well, Ikaris and I decided that we want to wed and we’re here to invite you to come.” Sersi began. “not that you have to if you don’t want to.” She hurriedly added.
She congratulated the couple before agreeing to go, the two Eternals agreed that it’s the right time for her to come back due to how much her powers had advanced.
“He’s going to be so glad to see you.” Ikaris commented, causing the smile on her face to fall, she quickly tried to cover it up by turning around and changing the subject. She couldn’t allow herself to think about him, she can’t fall back into familiar patterns
Days had passed since their visit. After the Eternal bid them farewell she got to packing up her belongings to move back to the place she used to call home, it’d take a couple days before she’s able to leave and she had to ensure that the animals that took shelter near the cottage would be safe and regularly fed.
She spent years alone in that home and although knowing it was temporary, it didn’t make leaving any much easier. She fell in love with the rushing water, the sweet melody the birds would create at sunrise, the luxury of being able to practise her abilities with no one there to witness or judge them.
She learnt more about herself in those couple hundred years than she’s ever learnt in the last thousands of years.
She found herself standing in the Domo days later, looking exactly as it did when she left. Same narrow passageways, same icy chills that cause you to shudder as your skin briefly brushes against the dark walls. She was told that the other Eternals had no idea about her arrival, besides Ajax herself of course. After settling back in she attempted to mentally prepare herself. It was a surprise for all the Eternals except for the three that were involved.
After dressing up in the attire given by Sersi she gingerly began to make her way to the location, it was only a few miles away which pleased the Eternal, she was able to calm her nerves before feeding herself to the wolves.
Well, that is an exaggeration but the Eternal was frightened of the idea of seeing him. What if she looks at him and the feelings come flooding back? The wall that she used all her energy to build would tear down like it’s paper. The heart wrenching feeling of loving someone you can’t be in love with will come rushing back.
“No- I’m saying that if Phastos and I had to fight it’s clear that I would most definitely win.” Kingo claimed, arms folded as he tried to convince the rest of the Eternals.
Sprite began to speak, struggling to let her voice escape from her mouth while she stared at the Eternal. The rest of the group looked at Sprite in confusion before following her eyeline.
“Oh my-“
“You’re here!”
“Did you guys know about this?”
Voices were overlapping with one another as the Eternals grouped around her, enveloping her in a long overdue hug.
“All right, give her some space.” Ajax announced, chuckling as Kingo unwillingly let go of the Eternal he considered the person he was closest to.
She pretended to not notice the lack of a warm welcome from Druig, deciding it was best to focus on the celebration itself. All the Eternals wore special attire handpicked by the bride herself, each color of the fabric wrapped around an Eternal corresponded with the color of their armor.
God, he couldn’t take his eyes off of her.
But of course, she was oblivious to that, unlike others.
He hadn't seen her in centuries yet Druig was convinced she looked as beautiful as she did the day they first met.
Druig was completely enamored by her, even if she may hate him, even if he hasn’t seen her for years. She was glowing, genuinely. Her laugh was lighter, more carefree. His feelings for her never once faded, even after all these years she was the one to hold his heart in the palm of her hands, he didn’t care what she’d do with his heart because it’s always been hers, whether she’d step on it, tear it up or smash it into pieces it will still be hers.
For someone who is portrayed to have a heart of stone, a misguided villain. Druig loves her like he is the moon and she is the sun, she manages to bring the best out of him when he cannot do it himself.
If she was broken, bruised and damaged Druig would destroy himself into thousands of little pieces just to make her feel whole once more.
And years later historians would assume things about the members of the Eternals. Did Ikaris truly fly too close to the sun? Can Sersi turn men into swine?
But there’s one thing the historians cannot deny, Druig does indeed care for and love humanity, but not as much as he loves her.
Druig felt overwhelmed.
He was pressed up against a wall, eyes focusing on anything else but her, everytime he found himself staring at her he found it impossible to look away, but he had to, it’s not fair to her.
Didn’t she leave because she hated him? And because of Ikaris?
But as the destined lovers they were, the night somehow inched the two closer to one another, eventually making it impossible to avoid one another. Druig sat looking at the view outside, admiring the starry night above, the streets seemed hauntingly empty during the moonlit night, as the sun hid behind the moon the temperature dropped, although still bearable due to the climate the Eternals were in.
“Phastos where’d you go? That practical joke was funny, we were kidding!” He heard her call out as her footsteps made their way towards him, he heard the footsteps still as she took in a sharp intake of air before making her way towards Druig hesitantly.
She stood next to him, arms leaning against the stone balustrade looking out at the city displayed in front of the two, rather than at the person beside her.
They stood in silence, wondering who would be the first to break, the first person to give in and lose.
A frustrated sigh disrupted the silence, cutting through the tension like a sharpened knife, Druig turned to face her, an exasperated look on his face. She hesitantly turned.
And all of a sudden she fell back into familiar patterns, lost in the shades of blue in his eyes, the crinkles by his cheeks that became more prominent when he’d laugh. Just being in his presence brought her comfort yet terrified her completely, Druig was the only one to make her want to give up everything just for a chance for him to always be happy, whether that’s with her or not.
“Why did you leave?” He finally spoke, voice laced with emotion.
“You know why Druig.” She responded, voice low almost as if she was afraid to speak, afraid to accidentally say something she’d end up regretting.
He shook his head in response, not accepting that as an answer.
“Was’ it because of Ikaris?” He questioned, hesitating before asking.
“Ikaris? Why would it be because of him?” She questioned, eyes widened in surprise at the question.
“I thought- well don’t you like him?” Druig argued.
She was in disbelief, how could Druig get such an idea in his head?
“No! What?- How did you get such an idea?” She probed, stunned at the question.
“The week before you left, I saw you with him, you held his hand while sitting next to one another. A week later you were gone and he was with Sersi.”
“I don’t like Ikaris, Druig. I was helping him with Sersi.”
“Then what made you leave?”
“Nothing, I chose to leave myself, nothing made me.”
“Bullshit, you avoided me for more than a week before you abruptly left without a goodbye, no letter, nothing. Like you never gave a shit about us.” Druig scoffed in response, taking a few steps away from her.
“I’m shocked you were able to notice my absence, given the fact that you were too preoccupied to even look in my direction.”
“That’s not true and you know it, I was with-“
“Makkari, yeah I know.” She cut him off, voice distant as if relieving what happened in those weeks.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” He demanded, she froze in response, not realizing she spoke out loud. She glanced back at the night sky, admiring the glow of the moon to calm her from the intense argument.
Druig sighs, leaning his elbows on the balustrade. She mimicked his actions. The streets were quiet, peaceful.
Druig fumbled with something in his pocket before pulling it out and twirling the object in his fingers before passing it to her as her eyes glanced down, a sudden noisy breath escaped whilst she stared at the rose, it’s blush pink petals were unmistakable as it turned a shade of gold as his fingers curved around the edge of the petals.
He kept the rose.
After all these years.
No more words were spoken between the two, her fingers reached for his own hesitantly hovering over his hand before he interlocked their fingers together. It was a simple action yet it had spoken the words they cannot say, and that was enough for them.

Countryside, England
"Has anyone seen Druig?"
You walked through the main meeting room of the Domo, looking around at the couple of Eternals that were lounging about in the early afternoon.  You only saw Sersi, Sprite, Phastos, and Gilgamesh, the rest were out on a patrol when some Deviants were seen out near the countryside.  Thankfully the Domo was well hidden in the forest, away from the humans and their curious eyes.
"He wandered off earlier today," Gilgamesh explained to you with a shrug, "He's been wanting some more alone time these days,"
"He hates not being able to help." Sprite commented as she was sitting on one of the benches, watching Phastos as he was twerking a piece of machinery that he was perfection with a hint of agitation in his brow, "It's making him more of a sour puss than anything,"
"I doubt that Sprite," Sersi reasoned as she walked over to you with a sincere smile, "I just saw him walking out to the fields in the East.  It's real quiet out there, that would be your best bet to find him,"
"Thanks, Sersi.  I'll go see him," You said to her lightly, clasping her on the shoddier before you walked off, a bit of a pep in your step.
"Make sure he gets back before the others do," Phastos said behind you, "Ajak will tear him a new one if she finds out he wandered off on his own again before nightfall."
"Will do!" You said over your shoulder, hearing Sprite snort.
"She's the only one who can talk to him these days," She commented, hearing a chuckle from someone else as you walked gracefully.  It didn't matter too much in your mind that they were talking about the two of you.  You knew they mean well, mere observation and gentle comments were never harmful to you.  They didn't see the true nature of Druig, not as you did.
It was a sacred friendship that developed over time.
Since the night of Sersi and Ikaris's wedding, Druig became your friend and comrade on the ship.  You felt like you gained an ally of sorts, someone who listened to you spill out your feelings and what was being battled within you.  Druig never once looked at your differently, not since that night.  On the contrary, he looked to you for some company a lot more in comparison to before.  It was rather nice, having Druig around to eat meals with or be on patrol together as a pair.  His company was comforting, your small talks and conversations were always positive and light.
As you grew closer to Druig, you were also feeling protective of him.  You fought alongside the others during Deviant attacks, never once diminishing your bravery and your need to protect the humans.  The ability to transform into an animal was a huge advantage on your end, and you were well notoriously known for transforming into a massive bear.  Something about the spirit of the bear and the thirst to be loyal and protect those you loved move through you with your cosmic energy.  It was such a contrast to your human form: the confident yet soothing woman with curves and a gentle smile that would morph into a massive and deadly bear.
There are a few times when you felt Druig's life was in the balance, and you would protect him without a second thought or in hesitance.  It wasn't just Druig, but the others that you knew weren't vicious fighters.  In your mind, they were your family and they came first in your life.  Every time you saved them, or even Druig in particular, you would feel a wave of admiration from your fellow Eternals at your selfless act.  It made you happy, truly happy, that they saw your value and your love for them and they loved you back.
Especially Druig.
Walking out of the Domo and going through the high trees that were shielding the Domo, you were once again attuned to the sounds of nature there in the afternoon and with the warm sun.  Once in a while, when you needed your own alone time or a time to recharge mentally, you would go out into the woods and shapeshift nto an animal.  Sometimes it was a fox, quickly and lively to graze along the grass or find a burrow to curl up in.  Other times, you were a wolf, wanting to stretch your legs and weaving your way above the tree trunks and fallen logs.  As tempting as it was to change into a wolf and bolt, you decided not to and just merely walk in your human form.  It was only a 7-minute walk, give or take, to the open field that you knew where Druig was going to be at. So you merely enjoyed the sun on your skin and the wildflowers under your fingertips.
Finally, you reached the opening onto the plains, seeing the small slope of the tall grass and the blue sky high above it. It was almost picturesque to see and breathtaking, the mixtures of green against the light blue above with the puffy clouds that seemed like mist.  You kept walking, your feet were quiet on the ground as you were scanning the field around you for some kind of sign of Druig.  After a few moments, you saw a small hole in the grass off to the right near the top of the hill.
You gave three long whistles, intimidating a bird.  It floated in the wind as you stood a fair distance away.  It was a signal you and Druig would give to each other to alert each other.  There were times when Druig needed to be alone, perhaps to have his own time for grief or to vent.  You would give him space, but you’d signal to him that you were close by in case he needed your company.  Druig did the same for you, and it became the little tactic you two would do with one another.
Finally, you heard three high whistles back from the hole in the grass, having you grin as you slowly walked in that direction
"I was wondering where you wandered off to," I called out as you strolled.
"Just needed some air is all," Druig's voice rang from the hole in the wall while you were walking closer.  You finally approached the hole, standing right outside of it as you peered down to see Druig sprawled on his back, the tall grass around him like a force field, with his hands laced on his chest and his eyes closed.  He looked content there in the grass, the warm sun hitting his face as he was taking in long breaths with a grin on his face knowing you were right above him.
"Did I disturb your beauty sleep?" You asked coyly, hearing him chuckle from his spot on the ground.
"Not at all," He replied in a hum, then opening one eye to see you almost perched over him with our hands folded in front of you.  He grinned at you, then motioning with his head to the spot next to him, "Come join me,"
"If you insist," You replied, making your way to the ground to be on his right side with your own back on the grassy floor and your head tilting up to the sky.  You could see the sun hitting your face, some of the shadows coming from the tall grass that blocked you from view and tickled your skin as your snuggled in a bit and giggled, "Wow, this is quite nice,"
"I wouldn't be down here on the floor if it wasn't comfortable," Druig joked back with you, having you look over at him and see the content gaze he was giving to the sky above you both.  You knew it was getting harder for him to restrain from helping the humans, being told to stay back and let the humans run their course.  He wanted to stop the hurt and pain, to bring down the wars and mass murders that would happen everywhere.  Druig craved to bring peace and tranquility, with no more blood spilled.  However, time was still going on and the once innocent planet you occupied was being tainted in sin and flaws.
It wasn't just Druig that felt that pain in not being able to stop conflict or turmoil.  You had those moments too, having to watch humans hurt each other and murder one another with no chance of stopping it.  Although it wasn't as heavy on your heart as it was for Druig In those times, it wore you down.  So you leaned on each other when one was feeling low or broken down, whether it was just sitting next to each other in silence or giving each other words of encouragement.  You both kept each other strong.
"You have something on your mind," Druig said, making you look over at him now and see his gaze at you with intrigue on his eyes.
"What makes you say that?" You asked him back.
"You scrunch up your nose when you think too hard," Druig explained, "Like this," He scrunched his own nose to match yours, cracking a smirk in the process.  You rolled your eyes as you gave him a light smack on his chest, hearing him chuckle as you looked back up at the sky above you, "What are you thinkin' about?"
"You won't judge me if I tell you?" you asked him, not in fear or hesitance but mere curiosity.
"Since when have I ever judged you?" Druig countered back.
"Druig…" You commented, hearing him sigh.
"I won't judge you if that's what you want to hear," Druig explained, sounding like his true self now as you both were laying in the grass, side by side, watching the clouds roll by.  You took in a long breath, already having those lingering thoughts that you've had on your mind all morning become magnified.
"Do you believe in love?"
Druig shifted a bit in his spot next to him, looking a bit confused at the question as your hands were resting on your lower stomach, moving with your inhales and exhales.
"That seems like a loaded question," He hummed, sounding soft but also serious at the same time, "Do you mean the concept of love?"
"Being in love, falling love…. all of it I guess," You hummed, watching a particular pattern of birds fly by high above you, "Just the word in itself is so vast and yet simple.  Love can mean plenty of things and take many forms,"
"You've been talking to Sersi again, haven't you?" Druig asked, having you shrug as you waved your hand in front of your to bat away a fly near your nose.
"Perhaps I have," You answered, seeing him gently smile as he was watching the clouds high above the two of you, "There's nothing wrong in talking to another person about love.  Humans have had love since their beginning here on the Earth, Sersi and Ikaris have it…"
Druig hummed nonchalantly, showing he was listening as you placed one hand behind your head to be a pillow.
"Do you ever picture yourself falling in love?" You asked him, seeing looking over at him for a moment.  His eyes were still up at the sky, but you could tell he was thinking about it to himself.  You made it sound like this was another conversation you two would have together, but it was such a heavy and delicate topic to have between you.
"Don't know," He said softly, sounding genuine in his answer, "I never thought about it."  He then looked over at you finally, having you see the kind stare he was giving you and how his brown hair was almost melting into the brown soil beneath his head, "Have you?"
"Yes," You replied with no hesitation, giving him a soft smile before looking back up and pulling a long glade of grass between your fingers.  You held it up in your view, over your head, and against the view of the sky as you twisted it in your fingers.
"Love is such a simple word, but it can mean so many things," you explained, watching the grass move in your fingertips, "Humans fought for love in wars and battles, they gave out love in songs and poetry, it's so easy for them.  But to give it to someone whom you care for, seems like the ultimate goal for life on this earth, wouldn't it?  To find that one person who knows you more than you know yourself, that will cherish you and bring you peace, and just being in their company alone makes you the happiest you've ever been,"
It always festered in your mind, the pondering thoughts if you were ever going to find that kind of person to be with.  You saw it in Sersi and Ikaris, how they loved and took care of each other.  How they looked at each other like the other hung the moon, or how they brought out the best in each other.  It made you wonder late at night in your bed, or when you would be alone on your patrols if you were ever going to have the chance to have yourself.
If someone was going to give that to you.
"Would it be so wrong to be in love with someone?" You asked out loud, maybe not directly to Druig but yourself as you let the blade of grass fly away with a gust of wind, "I know being an Eternal doesn't really leave us with the opportunity to love someone here on Earth, since we're immortal and all, but still…..to have that just for a moment wouldn't be so bad, would it?"
You didn't think that Druig would ever answer, only to listen and have you air out what was stuck within your brain.  But as your watched more cloud patterns float from the right to the left, the soft sounds of grasshoppers singing to signal the sun setting, the comfortable quiet was almost a moment of zen and time stopping.
"No, I suppose it wouldn't," Druig replied in a mumble, almost like he was in a trance himself.  You grinned shyly blinking a few times.
"I heard Gilgamesh say that if you love something, you protect it.  We've been protecting these humans all this time on this planet, and I wouldn't take it back, Druig.  But if someone did love me, truly loved for who I was and who I am, I would protect them with my life,"  you explained, making your stomach feel a bit lighter.  In your mind, love was deeper and more intimate than being physical with someone.
Love and sex seemed the same to most, but not to you.
Your reservations against sex were still there, it was still something that was now a part of you that you knew was never going to leave.  But you were content now, more at peace with it.  Yet love, love seemed so different.  It wasn't just being physical with another person on that level.  Love was about having your soul intertwined with another soul, it wasn't biology or evolution.  You even thought about spending the rest of your immortal life with a person and just simply being there in the moment.  Whether it was holding their hand or cuddling them close to you, or filling them up when they were down.  You yearned less for physical intimacy and more for romantic and emotional intimacy.
Was there such a thing?
"Maybe you'll have it one day," Druig said to you in a breath, having you grin and look at him once more.  He was peering back at you, a tenderness in his blue eyes and along his body as he was staying still on the ground next to you.  You felt like you were under a microscope with him, but it wasn't in a negative way.  Was he reading into your mind?
"You think so?" You asked almost sheepishly, seeing him give you the softer smile you have ever seen from him.  You knew his smiles at this point: the forced smiles he would give when he would try and put up a front, or the sincere smiles when he saw humans being kind to one another.  Yet this one, this was he has never used on another person, or in another situation.
"I do," He replied.
Tumblr media
Over the next few centuries, you saw little things creep into your life thanks to Druig.
It was the smaller things that you were noticing with Druig that made you question for own feelings for him.  He would always seek out to be by your side during meals and talks, which was not a huge change.  But he would consistently seek you out for company when he did it the most.  You didn't mind it, you enjoyed having him around you.
The more you hung out together and stayed close together, the more you could read each other and the moods that you would have.  For Druig, his facial expressions would give him away for you instantly.  When he was in his better moods, he was loose in how he stood and in how he walked.  On the negative side, he would so stiff in his face and almost look like he would punch a wall.
You consoled him plenty of times when he was in his negative moods.  Sometimes he would come into your room when you were reading or mending your civilian clothes, saying nothing but merely sitting next to you on your bed and taking deep breaths or sprawling out on top of your bedding with a huff on his lips.  You would let him, not wanting to push him or make him uncomfortable.  He would vent to you at times, but other times he would simply just breathe and try to release the tension in his neck.
When you were stressed and drained, Druig knew how to take care of you then.  He would steer you from the situation that was draining you, placing his hands on your arms and walking with you to calm you down.  You couldn't help it when you were feeling drained after fighting a Deviant or diffusing a situation.  All you needed was to breathe, and Druig knew that instantly.
"Take some breaths, it's going to be okay," He would say to you like a mantra as he walked with you and consoled you.  You felt safety with Druig when it was just the two of you, the protectiveness that he had with you was growing throughout the years.  He calmed you and made you feel safe.
Safety was something that you loved having with Druig.
You were willing to put your neck on the line for Druig when it came to a fight.  You knew he was no real fighter, he only fought with his words and with his mind-controlling ability, never with his fists.  It was his nature to use his words and sway people in that manner, where for you it was better to just fight it out with the Deviants.  You were strong in your animal shapeshifting, yet at times it was a bit dicey on your end.
At one time, over in the 1300s when you were all out in Asia, you were in the form of a red-tailed hawk flying over the area to look for Deviants within the area deep in the rural jungle.  The rest of the team was below in the ground, Druig being the only one who could communicate with you through your thoughts as you were flying through the air and scanning with your hawk eyes for any more Deviants within the area.
"What do you see?" Druig asked in your mind.
"Two Deviants to the west, near the tree line and close to the main city walls," You thought back, then looking up and dipping out of the way just in time as a flying Deviant nearly collided with you mid-flight, barely touching your feathers, "Druig, I have a Deviant on my tail up here in the sky!"
"Fly back to us, we can get rid of him for you," Druig urged you, having you hear the urgency in his voice and how serious he sounded.  You are flying hard, trying to dip and dodge the Deviant that was right behind you and trying to nip at your tail feathers.  It made you go faster, a sense of fear now itching over you.
"He's right on me, Druig!  I can't lead him back to you all!" You yelled in your mind, barely feeling the Deviant's tweet about to snap right at your talons.
"That doesn't matter!  Get back here and we'll handle the Deviant!" Druig argued with you now, sounding stern.
"I'll lead him off and take him out in the tree line!" You explained, not listening to Druig and his pleas to get you safe.  The last thing you wanted to do was to lead a Deviant back to the group when they were already trying to take care of two others on the ground.  Deviants that were airborne were harder to maintain and handle, leaving only yourself and Ikaris to the task on handle those.  Ikaris was nowhere to be seen, which meant you were on your own.
"Damnit, listen to me!  You're going to get hurt—" Druig argued with you as your heart was beating so fast.  You were about to take a sharp turn to the left when you then felt a stabbing pain in your left-wing like it was sliced.  You screeched out, your hawk cry was heard and vocal in the sky as you were then falling to the ground and spiraling.
The last thing you remember was Druig calling out your name before your vision went black.
Tumblr media
Something inside you was warm, rolling over you like a blanket as you finally woke up in a gasp.  You are on the jungle floor, looking high above you at the high trees that made you feel like an ant.  Your body seem so stiff and in pain, your head was against a fallen log and your left shoulder felt like it was on fire.  You were trying to breathe, but your lungs weren't working properly.  There was somebody perched over you, your face was being framed and held in calloused and shaking hands and wide eyes looking down at you.
"Hey!  Hey, you're okay!"
It was Druig, protectively perched over you and was cradling your head in his hands.  Your own eyes were wide from the pain in your shoulder, and you also felt some thick moister along your arm and onto your fingers.
"Where's Ajak?" You heard Kingo above your head, sounding concerned himself as you were still watching Druig with your wide and scared eyes.
"She's coming over now.  Ikaris killed off that Deviant before it could do any more damage," Thena answered him to your right, sounding more in control but stern too.  You wanted to look at Kingo and Thena, purely out of instinct to make sure that they were okay, but you were in too much pain to move.
"W-what happened?" You gasped out, hearing the pain in your tone and feeling it on your shoulder.  Druig said nothing, looking petrified over you on the jungle floor as you looked with your eyes to your left shoulder.  That's when you gasped loudly, seeing a rather large dent in your shoulder through your orange armor and on your skin.  A hole was seen, drenched in blood and some blood was oozing out from the wound.
The Deviant pierced your arm.
"Ajak's coming right now, just stay still for me, okay?" Druig said to you as you looked back to him, still seeing the desperation on his face in his voice as you were trying to breathe again.  The shock was coursing through you from the attack, your brain trying to get back into focus and your left hadn't was shaking.  Druig looked down at your shaking hand, hearing you gasp out for breath consistently.  Druig moved one of his hands from your face, reached down to lace your fingers together to hold it in a death grip.
"Are y-you guys o-okay?" You asked Druig, seeing him pause for a moment as he was squeezed your bloody hand.  He almost scoffed at your genuine question, though you were still thinking about the others and what happened to them.
"Are you serious?!  You nearly got killed from a Deviant punching a hole in your shoulder, and you're asking if we're okay?!" he asked in shock, almost angry with you as you watched him try to control his anger in front of you.  Your eyes went wide in shock.
"Druig that's enough," Thena scolded him nearby, her voice having authority in it while you saw Druig grimace a bit from how he sounded.  You were quiet, part of you understood why he was angry with you.  But the other part of you was shocked at how he was reacting to you. He never spoke to you like that before, and you thought your heart broke slightly.
You looked away from him for a moment, feeling foolish then.  Maybe it was the wrong choice to take on a Deviant with no help and no aid.  You are injured now on the jungle ground, covered in blood, and someone whom you care for was angry with you and your actions.
"I'm sorry," you said in a low tone, feeling rather guilty being in this mess because of your choice.
"No, don't say that, okay?  I'm the one who should be sorry," Druig said in a hushed tone, almost in pain as you were looking away from him.  He still had his hand on your neck, the touch was so gentle and almost possessive as you tried to take in another breath, "I'm sorry I said that, okay?  I'm just…I'm scared for you,"
You finally looked back at Druig, seeing his face change from the slighter anger and seriousness he had moments before to something more tender and fragile.  There was a new pain on his face, maybe it was self-inflicted in how he was handling this with you, but you could have sworn you saw love there within in his eyes.  He was emotional in how you were injured in front of him, emotional in how you were thinking of others before yourself, and finally, he was emotional in how he made you feel guilty.  It was all bubbling within him.
Several sets of feet were heard rushing over in your direction, Kingo sighing in relief above you.
"Ajak!  We're over here!" Kingo called out, Druig moving away then with a small amount of pain still on his face as Ajak was now in your eyesight.  Druig's hand on your neck left you, that warmth was no longer there against your skin as Ajak was now the one cradling your face and looking in your eyes.  But you still felt Druig cradling your bloody hand within his own hands, almost afraid to let you go.
"I'm here now," Ajak reassured you, petting your hair with your fingers before she placed her hand on your wound, "You'll be better before you know it, alright?  Just breathe for me,"
You breathed through the uncomfortableness that was seeping through you thanks to Ajak healing you, yet it wasn't as painful with Druig holding your hand as a lover would.
Tumblr media
That night you stayed awake in your bed, thinking back to what happened earlier.  Your shoulder was all better, merely a bit sore not a blemish left behind.  Your mind though was more occupied and filled with Druig, you couldn't help but.  You thought back to how he was holding your hand, not minding how it was stained in your blood.  How his voice sounded so broken and hurt from seeing you hurt on the jungle ground.  And lastly, you thought back to the concern and pure emotion in his eyes and face.
Something clicked inside of you then as you were sprawled in your bed.  You were in love with him.
It all made sense, and yet it surprised you.  All those hours together talking and being together.  The small gestures that Druig would do with you and around you when he thought you didn't notice came into your mind then too.  Sneaking you snacks that you knew you liked during meetings, giving you some flowers every once in a while when you were down just to make you smile at him, or even giving you sound advice when you needed the council.  You loved hearing his laugh and snarky tone from a joke, or his gentle soothing voice when it would just be the two of you sitting together on your bed, swapping old tales that Sprite conducted about the both of you.
Druig's presence soothed you, no matter if you were happy or if you were sad.
You never saw or admired Druig sexually, that wasn't the issue.  That sexual attraction that you never had to anyone wasn't there with him, but it was other attractions that took place.  The emotional attraction of feeling your full self when Druig was around, almost fully connected feeling the love and respect he had for you and vice versa.  The physical attraction of being physically close to Druig and feeling cared for.  Whether it was a shrug of the shoulders when you walked together, or how he would hold your hand when you are in distress.
You didn't know what to do, but you knew that you loved him and you would do anything for him.

Tenochtitlan
"If you want to stop me, you're gonna have to kill me,"
You watched in pure sadness and defeat as Druig was eyeing Ajak up and down with pure pain in his eyes and anger festering under his skin.  The flames that were engulfing the city below with the recent Genocide of the people tinted his face, showing his anger and pain as you were all at the top of the temple.  It all happened within a blink of an eye, so any factor going in at once and there was no chance of slowing it down or stopping it.
Druig didn't want to play by the rules anymore, not when he saw people being murdered right in front of him and the slaughter of innocent people was being taken place.  You saw his breaking point that night, and it didn't matter if he didn't lash out outwardly at first, he did after when you all saw Thena and her Mahd Wry-Ry almost kill Makkari and wound Phastos and Sersi.  You were in stunned silence as Druig was unleashing all that was screwed in tight within him on Ajak, feeling in your bones as he was crying next to you and staring hard at the others in pain.
Finally, after he said that to Ajak, he looked over at you before he would walk away from the family.  He searched your eyes, the redness in his eyes and blue orbs made you feel your tears about to fall too.  All you could do was simply take his hand in your own, the two of you close enough to almost breathe in the pain of each other.  As selfish as it was that you wanted him to stay, that you wanted him to work it out with the family and try to make things better, his mind was already made up.
He made his choice.
You didn't have to say anything to show that you did understand, and he didn't have to say anything to know that you were going to stay with the family.  Your paths were going along a different way now, no longer in sync as it was for the past few centuries.  You two were inseparable then, but now at that point, you both knew what you had to do.  Deep within yourself, you wondered if you were going to see him again if that warmth that he brought to you would be there once more.
Your heart was breaking, but you hid it.
Druig pressed his forehand against your own, having you press your head back and hold his hand in a tight grip.  You knew matter how badly you wished to tell him to stay, you had to let him go.  It ached your heart, it pained it like a gutted wound.
"Will you stay safe?" You asked with your thoughts, not wanting the others to hear.
"I will." He replied calmly, though you heard the pain in his tone as you nodded your head against his and took in one more breath, “Please stay safe for me.  We'll see each other again,"
"Will we?" You had to ask, almost not believing him.  He looked at you directly in the eyes, having you see the reflection of the flames in his eyes but they were looking so certain at you and not at all hesitant.  You wished to take that pain and heartache away from him and make him happy again, but maybe letting him go was going to be enough.  Gilgamesh's words rang in your mind again.
"If you love something, you protect it,"
Letting him go, away from this fracturing family, was in a way protecting him.  He needed to be away from them all, away from the hostility and the downward spiral of negativity and anger.  Druig would be fine on his own, you said it over and over in your brain as you two were staring at each other intensely and with some affection there.
"I know we will," He replied in his mind to you.  You watched with a heavy heart as he walked down the steps, out of your life.  For now, you repeated.  This was only temporary, you had to know that you two were going to meet up again sometime in the future.
If only you knew when your heart will stop aching, and your love for him would continue.
To be Continued....

No Surprise this Time
Word Count: 1860
Druig x Eternal!Reader
Warnings: angst I guess. Fluff. Rusty writing
So it’s been a while since I’ve written anything and I’m trying to get back into the swing of things so here is a Druig fic. Sorry for the lack of dates. I couldn't be bothered to figure out when things were. No pronouns in this fic btw.
Tumblr media
Greece
The early morning light slowly but surely convinced your eyes to open up. You adjusted your eyes to your surroundings just in time to see your beloved try to quietly sneak out of the room
“Druig? Where are you going?”
He paused at the door and turned around, “I’m just going out to the flower field,” he said
“Do you want me to come with you?” You asked in a cheerful voice
“No dearest, I'm afraid you can’t come”
Your brows scrunched softly in confusion, “But we always go there together”
“I know, but I have something important that has to be done alone. But I’ll see you later, I promise” he walked back over to where you laid in bed, and gently kissed your lips.
“Ok I’ll see you later then” you softly smiled and tried your best to hide your disappointment.
Tumblr media
Present day
You had been walking for days, trying to find the perfect spot to build your newest life. But the rainforest you were in, so close to where tenochtitlan was, brought back painful memories of abandonment. You hoped that wherever Druig was these days, that he was safe, but you couldn’t help the pang in your heart and the anger you felt when you thought of him. You kept walking though, trying to distract yourself from your own pain and the undeniable love you still held for the mad that left you. You pushed away your thoughts, and returned to finding a new home and eventually, just before nightfall, you found a spot nestled in between a small cliff and a creek. It was exactly what you needed, near water and remote. If you were lucky you could be here for decades. You set up the tent held in your backpack and started a fire as you settled in and thought of the house you would build.
Tumblr media
Greece
You’d kept busy that day by helping Makkari try to plan out where else to look for the emerald tablet she’d been searching for but when the sun had started to drop from its highest point you became impatient. You left the grand house you were all living in and began walking the trail that led to the flower field. It was a rather long walk to the field and you hoped you would find Druig on his way back but as you got closer and closer to the field you still hadn’t seen him. The sun was beginning to seek shelter under the horizon and you were growing very worried for your beloved. Finally, you made it to the field and saw the large tree that twisted at its center.
“Druig? Are you here?” You shouted
You saw him move from behind the tree and quickly make his way over to you
“Y/n what are you doing here?”
You looked down at the floor, you suddenly felt embarrassed that you came out here when he told you not to.
Tumblr media
Present Day
You ran your hands along the walls of the cliff, trying to feel if it was deep and sturdy on the inside. After determining it was stable ground you rubbed your hands together and slammed them into the wall of the cliff, creating a loud boom and an opening in the cliff. You continued inside, sculpting the earth with your powers until you were satisfied with the space, making sure there were plenty of windows and ceiling space. You moved your tent and sleeping bag inside and also made a fire inside. You decided to look around for some fruits after deciding you were fed up with cereal bars.
When you got back, your backpack was filled with many different fruits that you set next to the entrance of the hole, and you were just about to step inside when you heard the snap of a twig. You froze in your place, attuning your ears to the forest but then you heard your name.
“Y/n?,” the deep voice paused before continuing, “what are you doing here?”
Your heart raced and your nostrils flared, you could feel the anger begin to boil in your body. It only made sense that this would be where Druig had been.
Tumblr media
Tenochtitlan
Druig turned out of where the Eternals were arguing, his steps on the stairs quiet and his face somber. You chased after him, not wanting to be left with the people you disagreed with, not wanting to be left by the love of your life.
“Druig wait!” You shouted, running down the steps to meet him. He stopped and turned to face you but didn’t meet your eyes.
“Can I come with you?”
He took a long breath before answering, “no dearest, I’m afraid you can’t”
“What?” You asked as your hands began to shake
“You can’t come with me, you need to stay with them. I- this is something I need to do on my own. You’d be miserable if you came”
“Druig why would you say that? I belong with you, I don’t understand-“
“You can’t come y/n,” he paused and turned away, not wanting to let you see a tear fall down his face, but you saw it anyway. He knew the life he would set out to build wasn’t what you deserved, you deserved a family, “I’m sorry”
You couldn’t move as you watched him walk away, the rejection you felt spreading grief through your bones. After everything you two had been through, after the love you shared, how could he just leave you alone?
Tumblr media
Present
You slowly turned around to see Druig about 20 yards away from you. Your jaw clenched as he started to make his way towards you, his eyes never leaving yours. You lowered your eyes to the ground, not wanting to look at him anymore.
“What are you doing here?” He asked softly
“Well I was hoping to find a new home but it seems this area is occupied” you said, a bitter tone in your voice
He searched your face, seeing the anger and pain in the tension in your jaw and the way your brows were close together. He felt guilty and angry at himself for leaving you, but now he was drowning in those feelings.
You spoke up, hoping he wouldn’t come closer, you knew you’d break if he did, “How did you find me Druig?”
“I heard loud booms, and I can see now that you were using your powers. They always were so loud” he said as he continued to walk slowly until he was just inches away. He gently lifted your chin up so he could look at your eyes, he missed looking into them when the morning sun had just said hello to the world and when the stars reflected the complexities in your irises.
Tumblr media
Greece
He lifted your face to look at his, he loved your eyes because even though he couldn’t read your mind he could see your emotions clearly in them. He especially loved how your breath hitched when he was near you, always nervous, he loved it.
“My beautiful, beautiful y/n… I’m sorry I told you that you couldn’t come here with me” he apologized, voice as sweet as honey, “I’m sorry I upset you”
“You didn’t upset me Druig” which was sort of the truth. You were upset but he didn’t upset you, his absence did.
“I know how you feel my love, you’ve never been good at hiding your emotions” he chuckled, “I just didn’t want to ruin the surprise”
Confusion spread across your face, and he simply smiled. He was glad that Makkari had rushed here to help him prepare when you left. He knew it wouldn’t be done in time if she hadn’t. He grabbed your hand and led you around the large tree to where a blanket laid on the ground, candles and plates and foods all around. You turned to meet his eyes and say how beautiful it all looked but when you looked next to you he was down on one knee, tears beginning to form in his eyes as he smiled at your beautiful face. The ring he held up before beginning his speech taking the words out of your mouth.
Tumblr media
Present day
You finally met your eyes with his, and all he saw was the anger and sadness they carried ad they began to water up, and your breath hitched the same way it did when you were both younger.
“My beautiful, beautiful y/n” he whispered, his voice cracking with his next words, ”I’m so sorry I told you that you couldn’t come with me” he said softly, “I’m sorry I upset you”
You didn’t say anything for a minute, before softly whispering that, “it’s fine. I’m fine” you were truly lying this time.
“It's not fine. I know how you feel my love, you’ve never been good at hiding your emotions”
You couldn’t believe how the words you were hearing had such a different meaning from the first time you heard them. When you were both where you belonged, with each other.
“There’s no surprise this time” he said as he brushed a tear away from your face, “I didn’t think what I wanted to create would be good enough. I didn’t want you to be miserable with me, you don’t deserve that. And I’m sorry, for everything.”
You shook your head in disbelief and anger, all the emotions threatening to spill out uncontrollably, “It would’ve been enough for me Druig,” you paused to hold back a few tears, “you would’ve been enough for me. I would’ve followed you wherever you went. I can never be miserable with you”
“I was an idiot, telling you no was the worst thing I ever did, and I’ve paid the price for it everyday”
“So have I Druig.”
He wished he could turn back time, and taken your hand in his when he stood on those steps. He cupped your cheek in his right hand and pulled your face towards his, searching your eyes for permission. You lightly nodded your head, the movement so discreet that a normal human would’ve missed it, but he met your lips with his own. The feeling of your lips and the taste of you had almost become unfamiliar by your years apart. He was gentle and hesitant, but he needed to make it clear how much he missed you, so he wrapped his arm around your waist and pulled your body against his as he deepened the kiss. You felt his tears land on your face, your head spinning as you became dizzy, but not wanting to break apart from him. You wrapped your arms around his neck, hoping you could stay here forever and forget about everything that had happened.
He pulled back to catch his breath, resting his forehead on yours, you could feel his lips brush yours when he spoke,
“Y/n, I love you with all my heart, and I’ve missed you so much my dearest. Will you please come with me?”
You softly smiled at his words, “I’ll follow you wherever you go my love”

(An): Thinking about writing a fic where reader is in love with Druig but Kingo is in love with the reader. Maybe after Druig leaves everyone the reader goes off on their own for a bit and eventually visits kingo and realizes what they’ve been missing idk. I need some practice writing before I work on my series again.

In Paper Rings, In Picture Frames (Oh, You're The One I Want)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Makkari smiles as they stand by and watch sweets passed around as the bride and groom embrace. They offer their congratulations and Druig supposes they'll be moving on but Makkari tugs on his sleeve before he has a chance to.
'Let's get married too,' she tells him and for a second he wonders if he's read the signs wrong. She clearly realizes because she rolls her eyes with an amused grin and repeats herself.
‘Are you sure?’ Druig signs, feeling more than a little breathless, his heart stuck in his throat. This was the last thing he expected her to say and it's making him lightheaded. His beautiful Makkari nods like she's never been surer of anything.
"How do we tell the others?" he asks when they get back. It's already nightfall. The sound of laughter around the kitchen table can be heard from inside the Domo.
Makkari pauses in consideration, coming to the same conclusion he is. She doesn't look like she wants to be the one to tell them either.
'How about a bet?' she proposes playfully.
"A bet?" he smiles back. "I'm listening."
Or, Druig and Makkari get married and wait for the rest of their oblivious family to figure it out.
Ao3 - FFN
Fic based on this Drukkari post.
The fic is finally all posted. I had so much fun sharing my take on this dysfunctional amazing family with you all and exploring their relationships with Drukkari at the forefront even though I haven't seen the movie yet. It's only made me more excited for January 12. I am also already working on a second fic so I hope you guys who like this fic will look forward to my second fic too. Also, if you enjoy this in any capacity I hope you'll express your thoughts with a comment or review about how it made you feel. Even constructive criticism is welcome!

*Cain’s POV*
I felt the warmth of the sun disappear from my skin which gave me a sign that nightfall was not far behind and I still have yet to find Hela. I know I could’ve used my enhanced hearing to find her by following her heartbeat but I’ve already lied to her once, I don’t want to scare her away for good in her knowing how exactly I found her.
The sound of wings flapping soon came over me and I could smell the scent of earth from the Misty Mountains and dried blood aroused my nose. Icarus had found me.  I turned towards him and asked.
“Have you found her?” he let out a few trills and his wing extended outward to his right.  “Lead me to her Icarus.” He walked closer to me and I felt his body lower down in front of me allowing me to mount on top of him as he took off flying.
I heard the sounds of the river creek just below us as Icarus flew downward, flapping his wings accordingly before he landed safely on the ground.  It was then Hela’s heartbeat rang fast yet would skip a couple of beats, like when you splint a wood when hammering a nail into it.
There was no need to have Druig’s ability to read minds for me to tell how Hela was feeling, even her voice alone earlier today spoke of betrayal, heartbreak, shock, confusion, and anger.  Slowly I approached her, the sound of the water growing louder with each step I took closer to her.
“Hela.” I spoke her name.  I heard the fabric of her clothes adjusting as she was probably huddling herself closer trying to become invisible (even though that wasn’t possible). “Hela we have to talk.” I told her softly.
*My POV*
Talk? Talk about what?  All this time, all these years…..these past two Ages I’ve walked Middle Earth, another Celestial existed and he did nothing to help me or our brothers and sisters.
“All this time. You’ve been here. Hiding in the shadows while our kin—” I trailed off harshly wiping away my tears.  “Another Celestial has been alive all this time. How am I supposed to process this?”
“Hela…..” I turned to face him, rage boiling within me as I snapped.
“No! You abandoned us! Abandoned your kin! How could you ever live with yourself with all this. And you knew I was out there suffering! Alone! Living with the guilt of not being able to revive my family from the Deviant’s sting. Living with the sorrow of seeing their stoned bodies every day for this whole Age. Living with—living with loneliness. At the fact that you made me believe to be the last of my kind.” I rambled on in pure rage before trailing off and finishing off brokenly.
I couldn’t look him at his blindfolded gaze any longer. I turned and sniffled as I tried to stop the tears from falling but I couldn’t stop them.
“Not a day goes by where I don’t think that. Knowing that I was forced to never have contact with you or any of our fallen kin.”
“Forced? Wait-what? What do you mean forced?” he didn’t speak a word as he reached up and took off his shirt and from the light of the full moon I saw just above his heart the Mark of a Betrayer.
In our kin; if one commits an act so heinous or vile of our laws, they are marked with a symbol just above the heart in the shape of what would look like an X.  However it was more broad, like a star put sideways with one point going down longer than the rest of the other three points.
“That was curtesy of our sister Thena.” He didn’t speak her name with any bitterness as he put his shirt back on.  “The reason you could not know of me, was because I was already marked as a Traitor amongst our Kin. And as such…..”
“No Celestial could speak your name. Unless in a curse.” I finished softly.  He nodded softly but grimly as he walked up and sat down by the lake.
“If I didn’t do what I did, I would’ve given anything to stay with you. To have gotten to know you, along with Druig, Makkari and Sprite.” I looked down nervously picking at my nails debating whether or not I should even continue to speak with him.
But Galadriel’s words came back into my head.  How I deserved to know who he was.  And as I’ve learned in the world of Men, there are two sides to the story.
I walked over to him and sat down beside him, a deep frown was on his face and his jaw clenched with regret.  And if I could see what was underneath the blindfold, I’m sure his eyes would be brimming with tears and regret.
“Cain, who are you?” he took a deep breath before turning his head upward and asked me.
“Tell me, can you see any stars in the sky yet?” I looked up and saw that there were some starting to shine along with the moon.
“Yes. I can see a few.”
“That’s the one thing I miss. Seeing the stars shine in the sky. Being up with them and holding them in the palm of my hand.” I turned to him and responded.
“You were a Celestial of Starlight?” a bitter smile came at the corner of his mouth as he looked back down.
“Once. Yes. In fact I was the first Starlight Celestials born. 50 years before Ikaris was born. Out of all my brothers and sisters od Starlight he came the closest to gaining my spot of the High Celestial Council. Had his ego not gotten in the way.” I softly chuckled.
“He was rather cocky. Spent more time with Elves than any other race.”
“Hadn’t changed a bit then.” Cain chuckled.  “I told him he could one day surpass me, if he showed compassion and kindness to the lives of the Mortals like he did with the Immortals. If he didn’t, then he’d always be one step behind me.”
“In a way he did give it to them. But he never formed a strong connection with them. Always told me to be weary of forming bonds with Mortals. For their lives are brief and losing them can only bring about heartbreak.”
“While that is true, but is it not better to have formed connections with them, rather than—”
“To have not formed any bonds with them at all.” I finished. “I say that to myself all the time whenever my mortal friends question why I continue to return to them.” Cain smiled as he turned in my general direction.
“It would seem we both share the same philosophy.”
“I suppose so.” I said with a small smile and rubbed my injured shoulder.
“It still hurts, doesn’t it?” I looked at him and asked him.
“How exactly can you tell that?”
“What I’ve told you about my senses is true, to a degree. I’m able to hear the friction of your bones in your shoulder grinding together.”
“You-you can actually hear all that?”
“That’s not all though. I’m able to stretch my senses far beyond any mortal capability. If I wanted, I can hear and tell you exactly what is happening with your Hobbit friend Bilbo Baggins. As well as what is happening in Dale with your human friend Bard.”
By the Valar! He can hear and see all of that?! How is that even possible?
“I suppose you wish to know how that’s possible?”
“Oh don’t tell me you can read minds too without Druig’s power?” he softly laughed, the corner of his eyes crinkled under the blindfold as he said.
“No. I just get asked that a lot when I tell people of my true capabilities.” It was then the smile dropped from his face and his body language turned sad with his shoulders lagging and his head down.  “However it…..it brings up to why and how I got this scar.”
“I want to know. Cain I—I want to hear your side of the tale.” He swallowed hard, his adam’s apple bobbing a bit before he turned to me.
“First, you need to see this.” He lifted his hands and reached for his blindfold.  “I warn you, this—tends to make people uncomfortable. That’s why I hide my eyes from the rest of the world.” Once his fingers touched the blindfold, he slowly untied it and allowed it to fall into his lap.
“By the Valar.” I breathed.  In place of where his eyes should be looked to be two stars that had been taken from the sky, shrunken down, molded into circles and then placed into his eye sockets.  They shined a pure white glow with a hint of light blue around the rims.
“I wasn’t born this way. I—lost my sight when I—when I lost……” he slowly lifted his hands towards my face.  I slightly flinched but he told me, “I won’t hurt you. It’s……it’ll be easier to show you what happened, through my memories.”
“I trust you.” I told him after a brief pause.  I then took his hands and pressed them on each side of my face.  His thumbs at first gingerly stroking my cheeks while his index fingers felt for my temples and I felt a warm sensation come over me as a flash of light came over me and I found myself before a gorgeous waterfall.
It was unlike anything I’ve ever seen before in Middle Earth. And along it was a small house of wood and stone.  A crowd gathering outside with gifts and lantern lights in their hand.  I even saw amongst the crowd Ajak, Thena, Gilgamesh, Ikaris, Phastos and a young Kingo.
‘It was the birth of Elwing, and we Celestials gathered to celebrate the birth of who would grow to be an important figure in the future to come. And it was here that my life would change forever.’ Cain’s voice rang out to me.  Soon walking beside me was Cain.
However he looked younger, more vibrant and confident in his stride.  His hair was longer, about midway down his neck and his eyes were a deep brown mixed with green.  He walked around holding the power of a Starlight Celestial (which was the glow of the stars themselves) at the palm of his hand.

Tumblr media
He walked towards the waterfalls just a bit away from the house when he stopped and came across a beautiful young woman with long blonde hair. She was fair in face but she was no elf, in fact she was human.  A mortal. Her long blonde hair was as almost as golden as Lady Galadriel’s, her skin white as snow and her eyes reminded me of Haldir’s.
She turned around to head back when her eyes caught sight of Cain and the two of them just stared at one another like a rabbit freezing in fear. It was then Cain smiled nervously and gave a gentle wave at the young woman all the while looking down at his hand and tried to dim the Starlight from his palm, with little to no success.
The woman softly laughed behind her hand before coming up to Cain and I saw her mouth out ‘May I?’ Cain awkwardly and nervously smiled again and nodded as he held out his starlit hand and she was in pure awe at the stars Cain held in his palm.
Tumblr media
‘Her name was Yvaine, daughter of Yalanna and Korath. Korath was a family friend to Elwing’s father. Though they were elves who chose a mortal life, they remained friends and were invited to celebrate the birth of Elwing.’ As Cain spoke I saw the memories of him and Yvaine together.
Taking long walks along the forests, him showing her his powers and abilities, riding horses together and watching both the sunrise and sunsets together.  The two of them reminded me of Haldir and myself just shortly after we became more than friends.
Cain was so in love with her in fact, that I saw as he stood before both Yvaine’s father and Ajak to discuss what may have been a marriage proposal.
I saw as Ajak’s lips spoke some words to him but Cain stood firm and I could tell he had said to her that he’s willing to give up his immortality and his Celestial power just to be with Yvaine.
With that, the next image I was shown was their wedding day. Yvaine and Cain standing together side by side in their wedding clothes, her family on one side and ours on another.
As they kissed, the crowd cheered and I saw Gilgamesh, Thena and Ikaris bow before their new sister in law, while Ajak, Phastos and young Kingo embraced Yvaine with open arms welcoming her as a part of the family. And Phastos was willing to gift to them a special gift that Ajak believed wasn’t quite ready yet, he called it a photograph.  Said to be like a painting but more realistic and smaller and it was that gift he gave to his younger brother and new sister in law.
I now stood before a castle that I’ve only seen pictures of back in Rivendell.  The large castle and Elves everywhere told me that I now stood before the once great Kingdom of Gondolin, the very place where Gandalf’s, Thorin’s and Bilbo’s swords were made.
I stood before a quaint little house and I peeked inside to see Cain sitting on the bed with his eyes closed and Yvaine pulling something out from a small jewelry box.  Cain kept trying to peek through his fingers, but Yvaine laughing would tell him to stop peeking and Cain would tell her that he wasn’t looking.
That was when she pulled out a small baby bootie and held it out before Cain and I saw her lips tell him to open his eyes.  When Cain opened his eyes, he gasped and a wide smile came across his face.  But his smile dropped when his jaw dropped and she revealed two more baby booties of a different colors.  The first was white, the other one was blue and the other pink.
Cain then fainted on the bed which caused Yvaine to hover over Cain in a brief panic but Cain launched forward and brought her down to lay beside him.  He stroked some wild strands out of her face as Yvaine laughed happily behind her hand and Cain kissed the top of her head before peppering her face with kisses. After kissing her, he pressed his forehead against hers and the two of them kissed each other passionately and ever so sweetly.
Tumblr media
I saw them together with their new babies, seeing their first steps, the first time they spoke, playing together, and being a family. However not all things end happy, and from what I’ve read in the first Age, a lot of terrible things were going on at the time.
Like what I was witnessing now.  Fire had spread throughout the kingdom as Orcs, dragons and Balrogs attacked the great city of Gondolin.  From inside the house I saw Cain fixing his daughter’s cloak while Yvaine was helping out their two sons with their cloaks.
Glorfindel, whom I remember Ikaris telling me was a good friend of his, came to collect them and together they along with anyone they could find in the wreckage escaped into the mountain passage while the city was left to burn, and thousands of Elves perished in the fire.
Suddenly they were ambushed as Orcs came riding up behind them. Everyone in a panic began to run, mothers and children running as fast as they could.  Through the panic I saw as Cain, Yvaine and their kids briefly stopped and Cain turned to his family.
He knelt down before his children and kissed them each on the forehead before looking up at Yvaine.  He stood up and gave her one last kiss before telling her to take the kids and run.  She shook her head, refusing to leave without him but Cain wouldn’t take no for an answer. As he saw some of his former Starlight brothers and sisters flying along with the great Eagles of Manwë, he called out to sister Vers, Ikaris and brother Orion to take his family and go.
Vers, Ikaris and Orion tried to hold back Yvaine and his kids who were trying to break free and be with their father and husband.  Cain then took out what looked like to be Orcrist and charged towards the orc army to fight alongside Glorfindel and some other Elves who were willing to hold off the orcs, allowing the others to escape.
Cain fought exactly the same way I’ve witnessed him fight, the ferocity yet precision in the way he wielded Orcrist and how he used his body to take down the orcs.  Suddenly he took notice of a bright flame just ahead of where Ikaris, Orion and Vers had taken his family and where the others had tried to escape to.
Terror came about Cain’s face as he fought through Orc after Orc to get to the top cliffside of the mountain.  Glorfindel racing right behind him and I followed right behind to see the Balrog that was also said to be there, the beast that Glorfindel took down and sacrificed himself to save hundreds of others before being resurrected.
I saw as Cain screamed out in pure heartbreak and horror as he raced towards his family who were hiding behind some rocks while his brothers and sister tried to handle the Balrog but were failing.  I watched as the Balrog summoned his whip and send it down right towards Yvaine and the children and soon a flash of light from the whip blinded my entire vision.
When the light dimmed, the battle was done and I saw the corpses of Yvaine clinging onto her dead children, and just a few feet away from them, Cain with his eyes completely burned out from the light of the whip that ended his family.
Vers, Orion and Ikaris landing down beside Cain but it was Ikaris who held Cain in his arms crying and pleading to the Valar to spare Cain.
As the picture faded and I was left in darkness until another image was brought up.  Cain was lying on a bed and Ajak stood over him with Ikaris holding his hands together anxiously, his leg bouncing up and down nervously.
‘Ajak, at Ikaris’ desperation, gave me a second chance. My immortality and Celestial strength restored.’ Cain’s voice rang as I saw Ajak reach into her chest and she actually took out a sliver of her very soul.  The pure whitish-blue energy was within her palm and she placed it over Cain’s eyes.
After a few minutes she removed her hand from Cain’s eyes and for a brief moment, Cain remained still until I saw him let out a gasp and his body shuddered as his head looked around frantically.  His lips repeating out his wife’s and children’s’ names as well as the fact that he couldn’t see.
‘But I would forever remain blind. Not just in the physical sense, but also by my rage.’ Cain’s voice said as I now saw another flashback of Cain walking with clenched fists and a furrowed, angry scowl on his face.  ‘So blinded by my rage in fact, that I took it out on the one Celestial who couldn’t say goodbye.’
Ikaris soon came into the picture and Cain let out an angered yell before pouncing on Ikaris and the picture went black.  I stood there in the blackness until Cain suddenly appeared before me again.  This time his hands were completely covered in blood, bits of blood splattered across his face and his body trembling in both rage as well as sorrow.
‘And—I would give…..anything to tell him how sorry I am.’ Cain’s voice sounded so broken with nothing but regret and remorse for what he had done.  ‘You and the future Celestials couldn’t know of my name Hela,’ the vision went black and I was now back in the real world with Cain in front of me. Him taking his hands back as he turned away from me in disgrace, “Because I will forever be…….Cain the Wrathful.”
I saw as tears fell down his face and dripped down onto the lake which caused some ripples in the water.  I sat there in shock at hearing his tale but before I could say anything, Cain stood up and walked away in silence.
I felt a soft nudge at my back and turned to see Icarus who let out a couple of sad squawks, and even his permanent furrowed brow was raised up in sorrow as he looked at me with pure sad eyes.
‘You are not the only Celestial to suffer Hela. Both you and Cain may have different stories, but you both share the same pain. You not only need him.’ Lady Galadriel’s voice rang in my head.
“He needs a sister. He needs me.” I softly replied out loud.  Icarus closed his eyes and gave a small nod.  I got up and Icarus lowered himself down so that I could get onto his back and he immediately took off back towards Cain’s cabin.
I got back to the cabin and I waited along the front porch waiting for Cain to return.  All night I waited until dawn was just moments away.  My head perked up when Icarus’ lifted his head and tilted his head after hearing something.  Soon coming toward us was Cain, he paused for a moment sensing my presence was close to him.
I stood up and I walked towards him.  He remained still but his starlight eyes refused to look at me. I took a deep breath and finally I stood before the exiled Celestial that was is my brother Cain.
“Brother Cain.” I softly spoke to him.  Hearing him being called Brother after so long, it got him to raise his head up in shock as he looked at me.  “I can have some understanding.”
I slowly reached out and took his hands in mine, I felt his hands tremble within my grasp but I eased his worry by stroking his knuckles as softly as I could.
“You lost your family. Lost—both families. You’ve suffered so much…..all on your own. Something that…..I myself have only known. I thought that—no one else could know my pain, until I was told about your story. In a way, your exile is worth it. You’ve helped the people of Harad from Sauron’s forces because of your exile. You’ve kept the South under control of Deviants because of your exile. Because of your exile I—I have a Brother. A living Celestial brother who knows my pain. And maybe—while I’m here being trained by you, perhaps; there is a chance, even just a little, that we both can be healed. Together.” I spoke as I would tighten my grip on his hands trying to give him as much comfort as I could muster.
A solemn yet broken smile came across his face as tears once again fell from his eyes.
“Every night; I pray to Yvaine for help. And little sister,” his hands reached up and came to my shoulders before gently guiding up towards my face.  Once again his thumbs gingerly stroking my cheeks as I smiled at him.  “She and the Lady of Lórien have sent me you.”
And for the first time, I embraced a brother that was neither Elf, nor of Man or even Dwarf.  I was embracing a Celestial of Starlight, my brother Cain and he was embracing me back with as much love and strength as I was holding onto him.
The rays from the rising sun shined down upon us as Icarus let out a few prideful screeches before flying over our heads several times before taking off high into the sky off into the sun’s rise.

Your feet hit the pavement and you took off running as fast as your legs could carry you; your heart pounding hard in your chest as you struggled to breathe. It was three in the morning, the sky pitch black above you save for the street lights illuminating the dark alley you ran through. You tightened the grip on the bag slung over your shoulder, careful not to let it come undone.
How could you let yourself get in this situation? All it took was one pleading look and you were instantly risking your life for him. The anger pushed you to run harder. He had one rule: “come back to me…alive.” It was the only thing you had to do… besides steal an assload of drugs. Easy.
Now you were questioning everything as you ran through the side streets, the sounds of dogs barking and guns firing filling the atmosphere around you.
“Fuck!” You whisper to yourself as you skid to a stop. A wooden fence stood in front of you; the pounding of feet growing louder and louder behind you. You sighed, before slinging the bag over the fence. You scaled the fence, climbing over and picking up the bag again.
Lucky for you, the fence led to the other side of the street. You took off running, pulling out your phone to call him. The phone rang a few times before he finally picked up.
“Did you get it?” He asked while he held his breath. The last thing he wanted was for his girl to be held up, the thought of anyone else touching you made his blood boil. So why the hell did he send you on this mission?
“Yes. I have it,” you responded breathlessly into the phone.
“Ah, that’s a good girl. Now come on back to me baby.”
“Oh you know I-” you were cut off, the phone ripped from your ear as a hand grabbed a fist full of your hair. They pulled hard, a scream erupting from your lips from the pain.
“Ah, looks like we have ourselves a little trouble,” a rough voice spoke into the phone. His voice sent chills down your spine, and angered Druig through the line. He knew exactly who it was. Genesis Rose, leader of the rival gang and leading night club in the city: The Rosaris.
“Let her go,” he said through gritted teeth. “Or I will make sure you won’t live to see daylight- and you know I’m good on my word.” Druig thought back to the last time he fought Genesis, leaving a deep rugged scar on his face.
“About that… I’d say it’s time for some payback. Starting with your delicious little thing here. She looks absolutely yummy Druig. My men can’t want to get their hands on her,” Genesis spoke harshly in the phone, before holding it away from his ear.
The man with his hand in your hair yanked harder, before dragging a knife along your cheek leaving a shallow cut. You screamed in terror and pain as the blood slowly dripped down your skin.
“You have an hour. You know where to find me.” Genesis dropped the phone, stepping on it hard shattering the screen.
“Lets go, pick her up and take her back to Rosaris.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” you spat. You weren’t going to go down without a fight, that’s for damn sure. You made it this far, the last thing you wanted to do was give up; the adrenaline rushing through you clearly affecting your decision making.
“Oh sweetie, now is not the time to play hero,” Genesis spoke as he slowly made his way to you. He was a big man, 6’4 and nearly 300 pounds of pure muscle. He wore dark jeans and a dark shirt, a blazer over it with a white pocket square, radiating his status in the city.
He knelt to your level, running his finger along your bloody cheek, before popping his finger in your mouth. The taste of your own blood awakened something feral in you. The second he pulled his finger out, you spat, your blood spewing all over his face.
“Now that… that was a mistake,” he chuckled darkly, before raising his fist and connecting it to your face. The punch knocked you out cold. You fell limp in the arms of Genesis' right hand man, Kingston, who picked you up and carried you to the blacked out range rover that pulled up next to the sidewalk. He carelessly threw your body in the back.
“Lets go,” Genesis yelled as he climbed in the passenger seat. Kingston hopped in the back where you were, grabbing the rope he had in his pocket and tied your hands together.
There was no escaping now.
Druig was seething as he threw open the doors to the arsenal where he met Thena and Gilgamesh- his weapons dealers. If he was going to come and save you, he needed the best of the best, which Thena most definitely had. She was the leader while Gilgamesh created the weapons.
“Well hello dear, what a lovely surprise,” Thena taunted.
“I need the big guns,” Druig said, grabbing a black duffel. He began throwing a various assortment of knives and smaller guns inside, as well as grabbing some ammunition from the case against the wall.
“What for?” Gilgamesh asked, stepping out of the welding room, wiping his hands on a white rag.
“They took Y/N.”
“Who?”
“Genesis.” Druig stopped and looked up at them, his eyes pleading for their help.
“Do Ajak and Sersi know?” Gilgamesh asked. Druig looked down, which was answer enough. No.
“I can give you three. That’s it.” Thena said making her way over to the steel vault. She put in the code and opened the large door. She disappeared for a second, before coming out with three large guns in her hands. They each had golden embellishments on them, meaning he would have to be careful not to lose these.
Thena placed them gently in his duffel bag, before placing the ammunition and mags next to them.
“I just need one more thing…” Druig trailed off, before looking quickly to the matte black door in the corner of the room. Thena followed his gaze, before smirking.
“Oh you owe me big time,” she muttered, grabbing the key from her neck. She unlocked the door, carefully opening it. She muttered some words in Russian, before a loud bang came from the room.
“Hello Soldat,” she grinned as she led him by the arm out of the icy room.
“готов служить.” His gruff voice sent chills down Druigs spine as he looked over their secret weapon.
The Winter Soldier.

The Rosaris. The most popular, most elite club in the city ran by Genesis Rose- who was arguably the scariest gang leader in the state… and also happened to be your boss. He was a filthy man with one hell of a rap sheet. Murder, money laundering, prostitution, trafficking, you name it, he’s done it- or made someone else do it for him.
At surface level the Rosaris was a fancy and elegant club. One you had to be on the list to get into. Underneath, however, the Rosaris was a scary, torturous place, filled with drugs, sex, and booze. Genesis only hired the best of the best strippers, prostitutes and bartenders- all women, all sexy and desirous.
You were one of them… no, you were more than that. You were Genesis’ favorite, his go-to when he had too much whiskey or when he closed a huge deal, dragging another filthy elite into the club’s inner ring.
Thalia was his other favorite. She quickly became your best friend, taking you under her wing when Genesis declared you the best of the best.
“Just do what they say honey bunny, there’s no use in fightin’ back. Don’t let your status fool you into gettin’ cocky- you’re still nothin’ more than a piece of ass to them.” She warned you, her southern accent present while she swiped bright red lipstick on. You looked down, scared of what was to become of you.
Genesis had found you on the streets. You had been kicked out of your apartment, your ex left you battered and bruised on the sidewalk when Genesis had knelt above you. The streetlights illuminated around him, making him appear angelic; you thought he was your savior. What a stupid idea. His sinister smile was mistaken for kindness, something you would come to beat yourself up over for a long time.
He had you drugged, before Kingston grabbed your limp body and threw you in the car that transported you to The Rosaris Underground- where Genesis’ office resided.
Instead, it was just because Genesis thought you would like sexy in it- and he was right. You were easily the sexiest one there, trumping all the girls below you. In any other circumstances, you would have felt elevated, confident. Instead it just terrified you more.
You had been working for a year when you finally, officially, met Druig.
“I want to introduce you to my new favorite girl, as a thank you,” Genesis said, motioning for you to come over. You got off of the lap you were sitting on- it was Daniel, one of the famous politicians- and walked over to Genesis. He wrapped an arm around your shoulder, pulling you in tightly.
“This is Y/N. She’s been up here for a couple of months, and hasn’t had any complaints yet. Go ‘head, try her out,” Genesis gave you a little push in Druig’s direction.
“Ah, Genesis, I can’t.”
“Don’t worry,” he whispered once he knew you both were out of earshot. “We’re just going to go in for a few minutes and come back out. I’ll leave you a glowing review,” he smirked, as he pushed you gently into the room. He flicked the lights on, illuminating the cramped space you both stood in. You made your way to the bed and sat down, while he sat in the chair.
“Yeah, the only pro of that is you’re less likely to be assaulted,” you muttered, rubbing your face with your hands, careful not to mess with your eye makeup.
Instead of speaking you just undid the red lace corset you wore, letting it fall to the floor. Your chest was bare before him, but you didn’t care. Somehow, deep in your mind, you knew you could trust him. His eyes trailed over your skin, over the bruises, scars, and blood stains from earlier tonight. You had a deep scar across your belly, where it looked like you had been cut open before.
Druig’s hand had begun to shake with rage as you slowly turned, exposing your back to him. You red scars all over, the result of being whipped repeatedly, mostly for pleasure… some for punishment.
He snapped.
“Who did this to you?” He asked, his voice so low and deep you barely heard him.
“I… I can’t even tell you. It’s been so many people,” you broke, the tears began to flow. He knelt down, drawing you to him, petting your head as he had calmed you down.
You attempted to let go of Druigs’ hand; he just squeezed it harder.
You raced to the door, shoving the bolt through the lock just in time. The guards pounded on the other side, each thud making you flinch slightly as you backed away.
The grunts behind you came to a stop, as Druig knocked out the last of the men. It was Daniel. Taking his knife to Daniel's neck, he sliced it open in one quick movement, blood splattered the carpet, as he let Daniel fall to the ground. You covered your mouth in horror at the sight before you: bloodied bodies everywhere.
You could not believe the carnage in front of you; there was so much blood.
“Beautiful, beautiful, y/n. There’s no need to be afraid,” he whispered. “You have to trust me.”
The same feeling from before washed over you, as you turned to face him. His gray eyes now had golden specks in them, as he caressed your cheek.
“I trust you,” you whispered.
You began to hyperventilate, panic setting in once again as you realized the stairwell was eerily silent. Tears fell over the brim of your eyes as you sank down against the wall. Fuck, when Genesis finds you it's all over. He’d probably torture you in more ways than you could count, holding you up in the dark room you had spent too many nights in.
“Come on y/n, we have to go, we don’t have time for this.”
A blacked out SUV sat outside, the backdoor open. Druig carefully helped you in, before sliding in next to you.
“Took you long enough- WHY are you covered in blood?” A feminine voice yelled, causing you to flinch.
“Lighten up Sersi, it’s not my blood.” A short girl sat in the driver seat, speeding off.
“Who’s the girl?” She signed, turning to briefly look in the backseat at you.
“Y/N. She’ll be joining us.” Druig said, resting an arm on your body.
“Is she okay?” Sersi asked, turning in the seat to face you.
“I think so. Just shaken up. It was a bloodbath,” Druig muttered, shaking his head. ‘
“Did you kill him?” Makkari signed.
“No, but I left him something to remember me by.”
“Druig you didn’t…”
Druig smiled proudly, thinking of the deep gash he left in Genesis’ face.
“Shit, Druig! That was not apart of the plan.”
“Neither was rescuing her, so looks like it’s improv night. Hey, did Gilgamesh cook dinner?” Druig asked, quickly changing the subject as he felt your body tremble under his arm.
“No.”
“What the fuck. Can we stop and get some food then? I’m starving. How about you, y/n? Are ya hungry?” You merely nodded your head, too scared to speak.
“Druig we can’t stop anywhere with you looking like that.” Sersi said.
“Just go through the drive through.”
Sersi rolled her eyes as Makkari smiled, already pulling into a McDonalds parking lot.

“Thank you,” you whispered.
You heard the door open, before shutting again.
