I read issue 63, and more unpopular opinions down the cut:

Well, let’s get the good things out of the way first. Silver truly wasn’t written as awfully as I had expected him to be. I would even go so far as to say he was mostly what I would expect of an in-character Silver: friendly, eager and strong, kinda smug about his powers, and not really suited at tackling social interactions like an argument so well. And the fact that Whisper believed him about Duo was not something I would have expected, truly. Though, since Duo is on the cover of issue 67, it leaves me wondering if the both of them will not be believed by Tangle and Lanolin... but more on covers and solicits later.

First Lanolin: because I truly do not get the feeling this girl is even supposed to be likeable in any way. Forgive me for saying it bluntly, but with basically every new appearance in the recent issues her characterisation has become more of an eyebrow-raising “Jesus, what a bitch” kind of thing for me. She’s got a lot of nerve mouthing off to a far more experienced fighter and telling him to “Next time, do better” when she herself admits that the Urban Warfare story went disastrously for the Diamond Cutters. Silver literally is a hero of the Resistance and Restoration: can you imagine her telling someone like Amy or Knuckles to do better? Silver is on equal footing with those examples (and furthermore saved the world from the Metal Virus with Super Sonic), so I truly do not see why Lanolin gets a free pass to be so disrespectful to him. And considering the whole purpose of this training was to “coordinate moves and communicate in the field”, laying the blame solely on Silver while defending Duo instead of making this a training moment for him too (or informing him that leaving someone to die is not the best course of action, even if he was frightened and did not know what to do) is even more striking to me. So again: is Lanolin simply supposed to be rude, bossy, short-tempered and haughty, or am I the only one who is seeing that?

And secondly, the solicit of 63 was simply incorrect.

Stuck in the past with no clear directive, Silver decides to spend some time with the Diamond Cutters and their new member. But he’s too busy being star-struck over Whisper to notice that he’s interrupting their training! Elsewhere, Sonic takes Blaze sightseeing so she can enjoy her vacation.

This did not happen in the comic, simple as that. He kind of fawns over the Diamond Cutters twice: when they invite him to train (page 2), and when telling Duo it’s cool he joined the Diamond Cutters (page 3). However, I must say that I am actually glad that the part of Silver fawning over Whisper and therefore being disruptive did not happen. Though I strongly dislike Lanolin’s reaction, what we got with Duo buttering Silver up and then abandoning him after he got Silver in trouble is much more preferable over Silver himself causing trouble and unjustly so by marvelling over Whisper too much. And I can forgive Whisper not speaking up during the training itself by figuring that Mimic would perhaps have attacked the four of them and put Tangle and Lanolin in danger, even if that was not outright shown. I don't want to take the more cynical route of her knowing that Lanolin would have reacted the same way as she did to Silver.

But to bring back the point from my first paragraph, since the solicit for issue 63 was incorrect, I wonder if that then means that the cover for issue 67 also is. If it is incorrect, it likely would mean Duo is caught as Mimic which would put a very quick end to this storyline... but if it is not incorrect, it would mean both Whisper and Silver are somehow not believed by Tangle and Lanolin. Considering Lanolin’s reaction to Silver literally nearly dying (because the Giant Chopper makes for a 1-hit KO in Generations), I would still heavily prefer the former over anything she can say to disregard Silver and Whisper for the latter.

She kills as she sees fit, for profit or because she was annoyed

Ravager/ Rose Wilson (DC/ Batman)

Rose Wilson is the daughter of Slade Wilson, Deathstroke the Terminator, and for a while... she basically worshipped him completely. She would do anything for his approval. Not helped by the fact he drugged her to make her more obediant and to heighten her natural abilities so her training would be more effective. Leading to her carving out her own eye to be more like her dad

She is a skilled warrior with the ability to see a few seconds into the future, a devastating ability when given to a skilled warrior. She is a bit brash, rude and arrogant... but also very sassy and playful.

Black Widow (Marvel/Avengers)

Natasha, the Black Widow. Famous super spy who can use every weapon known to man, as well as her body, to fuffil her mission

She-Venom/ Venom Symbiote (Marvel/Spider-Man)

She-Venom… Or just call her Venom. The Venom Symbiote is an alien parasite that bonded with Spider-Man… And got very jealous after he removed the black suit he did not know was a living being that was using his body as he slept for dangerous joy rides. Can be the Symbiote by itself or bound to a female host.

She-Carnage/ Carnage Symbiote (Marvel/Spider-Man)

Venom's first spawn, Carnage is chaos incarnate. Laughing at the pain and slaughter she causes for fun.

Emma Frost/ White Queen (Marvel/ X-Men)

Emma Frost is the White Queen. Originally a villain for the Hellfire club, eventually joining the X-Men. She is sexy, she knows it, she flaunts it. A confident smirk on at all times as her telepathy, telekenisis and the ability to turn her body to diamonds makes her a rather tough boss bitch

Madame Hydra/ Viper (Marvel/Avengers)

One of the generals of HYDRA, and ocasionally their leader. Sensual but dark, sadistic and evil. An honest to god sadist dommy mummy who wishes to rule the entire world.

Second Chance

Hello, me again! I just got back from re-reading Snap, and I was wondering if we could get a little peek at how the second chance rule went when it was first implemented? (Nooooo, this isn't a thinly veiled excuse to read more hurt/comfort, what are talking about?) – diamond-blade

(also, if you'd by any chance be interested in reading some original fiction from me, please sound off in the comments! I've been working on a couple projects recently and i'd love to share them but I wouldn't want to shout into an empty void.)

When Roman isn't in his room, Janus turns and heads for the Imagination's library instead.

Something he's still wrapping his head around is that Roman isn't at all how he expected him to act when he's hurt. He doesn't protest at the smothering from Patton or Virgil, he doesn't struggle against the prescribed mother-henning from Virgil, and the moment he's allowed off the hook he doesn't go out of his way to act like everything's back to normal. He is, in fact, one of the most sensible of them when it comes down to it.

Which, ironically, has posed its own list of problems.

Because Roman is so sensible, or perhaps because he has had to get so good at rationalizing and defending his actions, he is equally adept at explaining why, exactly, the things he is doing are sensible. So much so, in fact, that Janus has actually seen him talking his way through being allowed to do something he shouldn't by explaining how he's being reasonable about it.

Now, this isn't a problem when said thing is, oh, taking longer to eat his fill of the food that someone had generously taken the time to…experiment with and prepare, but it is a problem when it comes to him working after he's been suffering from creative burnout for the past few weeks.

Janus is certain there is a wonderful explanation prepared.

The library doors are closed, which is a good sign, but he can see from the light underneath that the curtains have been drawn, which is less good.

"Roman?"

"In here!"

Janus pushes open the doors and glances around. "Ah, there you are."

Roman waves from a table piled high with books. Some are from the library, others are not. Janus would bet good money that most of them are Roman's notebooks, each page filled with his neat little letters. He shakes his head slightly, marveling at how many notebooks Roman's managed to amass.

"Did you need something?"

He looks back at Roman. "You weren't in your room, I was worried."

Ah. Roman shuffles a little, looking away. "Did you…expect me to be?"

"I've seen Remus look less guilty than that," he says, not unkindly.

"So that's a yes," he mutters, flicking through a book.

He sighs. "I'm not mad at you, my prince."

"…you're not?"

"Should I be?" He quickly holds out a hand when Roman flinches, eyes widening and hands clenching on the book. "Relax, my prince, there's nothing you've done wrong, don't fret."

"Sorry." He toys with the corner of a page, "I'm…trying not to be so jumpy."

"You're still healing, I won't hold it against you." With Roman's permission, he sits carefully on the bench next to him. "When was the last time you took a break, my prince?"

"…what time is it?"

Janus raises a disapproving eyebrow.

"No, really, what time is it?"

"A few hours past noon."

"So…" Roman counts on his fingers, "about forty minutes ago."

"And the last time you ate?"

"A meal? Three hours ago. But…" He rummages around beneath the table, producing a thing of jerky and a bag of candy. "I have snacks!"

"And drank?" He holds up his water bottle and Janus snorts. "You're not on the road, sweetie, we have cups and mugs and plates, you don't have to snack like you're taking from provisions."

"I know, it's just easier. I am less likely to make a mess and get stuff on the books. Plus, when I'm clumsy and forgetful, then these things have lids and closures and I will not be spilling everywhere and ruining things." He makes a face. "I don't speak from experience or anything, though."

Janus chuckles, shaking his head slightly as Roman tucks his 'provisions' away and draws his book closer, squinting at the text.

See?

Reasonable.

But the same problem exists here as it does when he finds Remus in here after burnout, even if Roman's chosen to carry it out in a much less…obviously self-destructive way than swinging a sword at a dummy or insisting on sparring with a still-weakened body.

And to convince the prince of that will require the same amount of resolve.

"Roman," he begins as gently as he dares, "will you take another break?"

Roman looks up, a frown forming on his face. "Why, is something wrong?"

"Does something have to be wrong for you to take a break?"

"…it's just that I took one not too long ago, so…"

He waits for Roman to finish, and when he doesn't, reaches over and gently, tenderly, cups his cheek. "Second chance?"

Roman's eyes flutter closed and a shaky breath warms the skin just under Janus's glove. "Can I have a second to put words in order?"

He nods and lets the library lapse into silence again, still gently stroking the soft skin of Roman's cheek. He smiles when Roman leans into the touch, his other hand slowly moving from the book to the table, from the table to the bench, to nervously take the edge of Janus's cape between his fingers. He rewards the ask by scooting a little closer, enough to let the poor thing lean on him if need be.

"I've been struggling," Roman confesses in a delicate whisper, "not just because I've been…burnt out for so long, but because it's…it's still hard to ask."

He swallows and Janus adjusts his grip to let Roman lean against his shoulder.

"Part of it is…coming to terms with the fact that I'm not as useful to you all as I can't do the thing that makes me valuable anymore right now. Intellectually," he says before Janus can gently smack him, "I know that isn't true, that I don't have to be useful—or even be useful in the same way—I know I'm not about to be…kicked out or anything just 'cause I'm not what I was, but in the same way that intellectually knowing your leg is broken doesn't stop it from hurting."

He glances up at Janus, then at the hand clutching part of his cape.

"But it's fine."

Janus hisses gently. "Second chance?"

"I just don't want to be a burden, okay?"

There's a sudden vulnerability to his words, a weakness and meekness that's been absent from the conversation so far, and it gives Janus pause. His hands still in their ministrations and he turns just enough to cup Roman's chin.

"You're wanted," he says softly, feeling Roman's fingers twitch on his cape, "you're not a burden."

He can tell by the way Roman shifts and resolutely avoids his gaze that he doesn't quite believe it, not yet, but at least he doesn't try to argue. He cups his head and pulls him back in for a small cuddle, gently squeezing the back of his neck as Roman's free hand curls more confidently into the front of his shirt. He hums, low in his throat, gently kissing his temple.

Roman's stomach rumbles.

"Are you hungry?"

"Guess so."

"Hey," Janus calls, reaching out to stop him as he goes for his snacks again, "come down and have a proper meal, please?"

"Okay."

Janus smiles and helps him up, gently kissing his cheek as they leave the library. The Imagination carefully closes the notebook Roman left open, a single beam of golden sunlight illuminating it so that when he's ready, he can come back right to where he left off.

Come on, Janus isn't a monster, alright?

Laura Kinney. X-23. Talon. Wolverine. This young lady has gone by so many names. A clone of Logan, being grown inside the womb of a scientist known as Sarah Kinney. So yeah, she's the Wolverine's daughter. Raised as an assassin, she eventually escaped. For a while she was emotionally dead, very dead on and quiet. She's slowly grown into her own person, and she is is a badass with a cocky smirk

Emma Frost, the White Queen

Scarlet Witch/ Wanda Maxamoff

Wanda Maxamoff has had a complicated history. A mutant, not a mutant. Related to Magneto, not. Her POWER SOURCE existing, then not. So... here is the super simple way I am playing her. A confident MILF of a woman, and a skilled heroine

The sun had begun to set as Poe De Spell slunk about the streets, flipping back and forth between his thoughts and the city sights. It was one of the few activities he could manage that consistently brought him any sort of joy these days. Or at least, it would if he weren’t stuck on the impending winter, looming above him in the mid-autumn sky like an ominous cloud of impending attempted murder.

He’d been fortunate - as much as one could consider the situation - enough to have returned during the milder months of the year, giving him enough time to gain his bearings before the harsher seasons blew in. Poe never had a particular disdain for winter, though he’d usually had some sort of reliable means of shelter to defend from the cold. Way to ruin a somewhat enjoyable event, universe.

A car horn yanked him from his musings with a startled jolt, whipping his head toward the sound to see some random civilian get cut off in the bustling traffic outside a large, ornate building. His eye wandered to the marvelous architecture of the complex across the street, scanning the gorgeous stone columns lining the top of the stairs to the building. A collection of banners hung down between each column, advertising some sort of newly opened artifact collection. Clearly, the building was some sort of museum.

As he skimmed the banners dangling from the building’s front, Poe perked up at the mid-left image. Something stirred his brain as he laid eyes upon the peculiar, ornate artifact displayed for all potential patrons to see. A crystal skull stood upright on a perch. Even from across the street, Poe could make out the thin network of intricate designs pressed into the skull. They jutted across the entire visible surface of the skull, converging together into the eye sockets, where two diamond-shaped maroon gems were inlayed, a jagged gold border around it. On a small plaque, only four words were written.

The Crystal of Kadavus.

A sharp puff of breath escaped his beak. Then three more. There, in the middle of the sidewalk, the disheveled man began to softly chuckle to himself, his eyes sparkling with recognition and relief.

“Well, now…” he muttered to himself. “That should do quite nicely.”

I can’t believe lily is gonna make me defend Bucky Barnes but if you look at his fanbase allot of it is actually diverse and contains allot of queer poc solely cause.. well back in 2014 allot of the mcu was predominantly white so folks latched onto the trauma survivor who’s whole story was about escaping the nazi organisation and reuniting with their only friend. Like there’s a reason people don’t like the war criminal capitalist iron man and much prefer captain America and the winter soldier.

Plus stating the obvious, the character has existed since the 40’s and most marvel fans pull knowledge of the comics into their mcu fanworks all the time. If anything the criticism of mcu bucky should be how the mcu puts action sequences above characters (literally Lily’s fave character wanda was just there for action scenes and didn’t have an arc whatsoever aside from one film where she was a Nazi for a little bit before have a snapshot redemption ironically just like the Steven universe diamonds)

For someone who claims she loves stories about healing I guess Lily’s sympathy towards trauma survivors doesn’t apply when the victim is a man.

Funny how all of criticisms lily has for works can easily be applied to her own faves but she ignores them flat out.

she doesn't have any sympathy for male victim, but this lack of compassion extends too in general to any victim that doesn't act on the exact way that she wished she could act. by murdering the abusers (because all trauma is always about one singular responsible person and nothing else), plotting revenge or taking control of the universe. if they do anything else like... try to process their trauma and be sad sometimes, then they also don't deserve anything.

Marvel really was a bless and a curse for Chris. I love him as Steve Rogers. He embody that character so good. I can't see anyone else play him, only Chris.

But at the same time Chris hasn't done a lot of good projects after Marvel. I think it must have been a combination of him being too exhausted shooting the Marvel movies to try other roles/movies and movie people didn't want to cast him because they didn't want their movie to be associated with superhero movies and they started seeing Chris more like Captain America.

If I'm not mistaken I haven't seen RDJ in other good projects while in Marvel or after. Only now that he's in Oppenheimer. I'm excited bc is so different to his other projects and I assume challenging for his acting skills.

I haven't seen people talk about it but Chris in A teardrop diamond was good, I was surprised to see him in this type of movie. I saw the movie before I became a fan. It's an alright movie overall.

Simce he claims to be romantic I expected he would have been in more romantic or romcom by now. (I don't know how to express this in English, I'll try my best) Sometimes I think Chris is afraid to play roles that would make look silly, vulnerable or not so much like a manly man. In most movie that comes to my mind of Chris he's this hot manly guy. In gifted he plays the bachelor young uncle, in defending Jacob the strong, reliable lawyer that wants ro protect his family. I know that the fans would thirst over him even if the roles doesn't calm for it but at the same time I think both Chris and movie people know that. Like he's afraid to play unattractive roles that his fans or people in general won't find him attractive.

I would disagree with you on the RDJ point. He did the two Sherlock Holmes movies while in Marvel, and they were both well-liked and box office hits. Perhaps not so much after Marvel ended.

Perhaps what we're all arguing around is typecasting? Perhaps the more lowkey diverse roles dried up because only big budget movies started being offered after Marvel? Who knows.

I’ve noticed that people like to point out how they prefer Book!Edwina over show!Edwina, because apparently they’re super different, which is absurdly funny given that they’re almost the same personality wise.

The similarities:

BOOK!EDWINA: Her sister was still young and impressionable. What if she couldn’t resist one of his smiles? Or his glib tongue? Even Kate was willing to admit that Lord Bridgerton exuded considerable charm, and she didn’t even like the man! Edwina, with her less suspicious nature, would surely be overwhelmed.

SHOW!EDWINA: Kate: All you are doing, my lord, is toying with the emotions of an impressionable young lady.

BOOK!EDWINA: “I know.” Edwina let out a little sigh. “But the truth is—and you know this even if I am not supposed to let on in public—I’m really rather bookish.”

SHOW!EDWINA: I myself am fortunate to have found a love of literature, but also of learning as well. (...) You are much too busy to read, and I am very much in need of someone to tell about my stories.

BOOK!EDWINA: “Oh, he does. The differences:

Book!Edwina says that she’d like to marry a scholar and show!Edwina doesn’t specify much besides the “charming, handsome, prince” thing.

Book!Edwina never shows interest in Anthony, therefore she never gets in the way of Kathony. Book!Edwina not having feelings for Anthony (unlike show!Edwina “K: You love him? E: Watching how nobly he defended us at dinner tonight, how could I not?”) means that she is more aware about what is going on or not around her-- Kate and Anthony liking each other.

So, if you haven’t read the book and wonder how is like this marvelous book!Edwina everyone praises, know that she is the exact same to show!Edwina only without the liking Anthony part!

Nobody lies to her, she doesn’t have an almost wedding with Anthony and she is not humiliated in front of London high-society, therefore she never argues with Kate and instead takes only 0.2 seconds to accept Kate and Anthony’s engagement (because she never liked the guy in the first place!!!!).

I love Edwina to pieces, of course I would have preferred if the writers went with the plot of the book instead of go and break Edwina's heart. But we are talking about the plot there, not her personality. She is the exact same to book!Edwina.

also! did a quick look and realized that I've posted consistently every week for going on three years now which uhhhhh wow time is passing

but I've realized that i want to work on some of my original projects and i'm struggling right now to find time to do both fics and do that so i wanted to ask and see how y'all would feel if I took a bit longer to post stuff or took a brief hiatus

"Of course. I'm happy to help out both on and off camera."

And that could've been the end of it, had Logan not caught Janus trying to hide a scoff.

"Well," Logan says as the Sides rise back up into their own living room, "I'd say that went well."

"Yeah!" Patton rubs his hands together, smiling gleefully around as the rest of them shake off the 'personas' they wear for filming with Thomas. He adjusts his glasses and claps his hands. "Oh, it's so nice to be filming with all of us again, it's been so long!"

"Wait, has it really?"

"I think so, I mean, it's been since…"

"Oh, shit—"

"Language!"

"Sorry, Pat," Virgil apologizes, "but yeah, I think it's been since…Remus's introduction?"

"No, no," Logan corrects, "technically the five-year anniversary is the last time we were all involved in a filming process."

"Wait, but weren't we technically all involved in—you know what, I'm just gonna look it up."

Janus rolls his eyes. "Regardless, Patton is right. It's been…not unpleasant."

Virgil slowly raises his eyes from his phone. "Was that sarcasm or no?"

"I don't think it was, kiddo, but—"

"Oh, for crying out loud, yes, I had fun."

"I don't know, Patton, it still seems like—alright, alright, hey, hey!" Virgil holds his arms up to defend himself from Janus's pillow-wielding arms. "Enough! I give, I give!"

Janus sniffs as he sets the pillows down, trying and failing to hide the fond smile on his face, when his attention catches on the twins. "Roman? Remus? Are you two alright?"

Both of them startle, as if they'd forgotten everyone else was in the room. Roman recovers first, quickly putting on a bright smile and waving his hand nonchalantly.

"Yes, of course, my dear snake, we're both alright."

Virgil narrows his eyes. "You know we're done filming now, right? You don't have to keep doing…that."

"Maybe that's just how he feels," Remus shoots back as Roman blinks, "how about you keep your nose out of it?"

Patton raises his hands. "Whoa, kiddos, let's take a second."

"Remus, are you…good? Is something wrong?"

The twins exchange a quick look before Roman takes a deep breath. "Character bleed."

Logan makes an ah sound as the rest of them look around in confusion. "The twins—as Creativity in general—have a harder time 'leaving the filming space,' so to speak, and so it can be harder for them to leave the 'characters' they portray for Thomas's videos."

"Thank you, Logan."

"Of course. I'm happy to help out both on and off camera."

And that could've been the end of it, had Logan not caught Janus trying to hide a scoff.

"Is there something you take issue with, Janus?"

"Oh, nothing, nothing," he says in a tone that belies just how much there is, "just…marveling at your capabilities."

"Okay," Virgil mutters, "that was definitely sarcasm."

"Indeed." Logan draws himself up a little taller. "Speak plainly."

"Oh, and I'd never dream of disobeying an order from you." Janus holds a hand to his chest and gives him a look. "After all, we all know just how important you are."

"I am important. We all are. Has that not been the crux of the latest discussions we've had with Thomas?"

"Mm, yes. Important. Invaluable." Janus examines an imaginary speck of dirt on his gloves. "Where would we be without your priceless font of wisdom?"

"Okay, guys—" Roman steps forward, raising his hands—"I don't know what this is about, but—"

"I also don't know," Logan interrupts before Roman can finish, "Janus, why don't you tell us what this is all about?"

Janus mock-gasps, holding his hand over his mouth. "Logan? Doesn't know something? What a travesty!"

"Janny," Remus says, voice oddly serious, "don't do that. What's your beef with Logan?"

"Have you seriously not noticed?" Janus gestures around, mock attitude disappearing in a flash. "All of you, you're just letting him get away with it?"

"Get away with what?"

"He keeps insinuating that he's the most important character! On and on about how much we don't listen to him, or overlook him, and all of this and it's insufferable!"

"Whoa, wait, hang on—"

"No," Janus interrupts, "you know it's true."

"We're building up to his character arc," Roman says, "of course he's going to have a bit more prominence in the videos, we've been over this, we did the same thing for you! And Patton! And Virgil!"

"Oh, please, I never spent an entire meeting all smug with a stick up my ass about how important my character was to the narrative."

"I have never once," Logan says gravely, "attended any of our meetings with Thomas with a stick up my ass."

"But you don't deny being smug about being important!"

Logan's brow pinches and he straightens his tie, standing to his full height. "There is a difference between being smug about one's own self-importance and being confident in one's worth. Though I wouldn't expect you to know the difference."

Janus's expression twitches. "And why not, O Wonderful Logan who Knows All Things and Can Do No Wrong?"

"Simple. You embody the sense of self-preservation that only seeks to protect, defend, and better itself. Your very existence prompted the Selfishness versus Selflessness arc to begin with. It follows that you wouldn't recognize the difference between a healthy sense of self and an unhealthy one."

"Logan," Patton says, "that's not fair, he—"

He falters when Janus starts laughing.

"The truth," he crows almost triumphantly, "at last! God forbid we have nuance, god forbid anyone express themselves differently to you, god forbid someone try and offer insight when they're not you."

"If you'll recall," Logan says, voice sharpening, "all of your attempts at teaching something have ended in failure or other disastrous consequences."

"Because they were scripted to be that way. And oh, look, let's remember, who argued for that? Oh, that's right, it was you!"

"The closest you got to succeeding was when you impersonated me."

"And yet I managed to accomplish something that you didn't in all the episodes beforehand."

"Do you now understand how building stories works? It takes time to resolve issues, it takes work, you need pacing—"

"And a villain to defeat, right?"

Logan's silence is telling.

"That's what you've made of me, isn't it? Just some bad guy to be redeemed? A snake, tempting you all away from the path of righteousness," Janus hisses, glaring around at all of them, "while he gets to stand there unquestioned?"

"My role is to provide clarity. Yours is to obfuscate. Or have you forgotten, Deceit, the way in which you were introduced?"

It's Janus's turn to fall silent as Logan raises his chin.

"You impersonated Patton, Morality. You manipulated both Creativities to your own end, using Roman to ingratiate yourself with Thomas and Remus as the consequences for disobeying you. You held Virgil's past and secrets over him and yes," he finishes in a near growl, "you impersonated and attacked me."

He takes a step closer.

"You have always used us as a scaffolding to climb to get closer to Thomas, closer to the center of the videos. Don't forget that."

"And what exactly have you been doing?" Janus stares defiantly back at him. "Do you know how many videos are just you versus another Side? Do you know how often you're defined by your disagreements with all of us? Do you know how often you are the one who needs to be taught instead of teaching?"

He scoffs.

"You talk about what I've done to Roman and Remus but at least I know what I've done. You, you just pretend to be the impartial one who never takes a side, always about what's logical, what's right, never acknowledging the nuance in what you pretend is unquestionable."

"What do you want," Logan asks suddenly, "we finish filming and immediately you pick a fight with me, what are you getting out of this?"

"Because you're creating the very situations you keep decrying!" Janus throws his hands up. "Your whole arc, the things we've been seeding into the videos, they were by and large your ideas! Half of the things we pitch and script have come from your brain and then when we film and release the videos, you sulk about how much you're being overlooked and how frustrating it is to have us not listen to you!"

Logan draws himself up but remains silent.

"You can't construct the narrative to do something and then be all 'boo hoo, the narrative is ignoring me and overlooking me,' that's not true! Don't act like some terribly mistreated tragic hero when it's you who's put yourself in that situation." Janus glares at him. "I'm sick of you acting like you're the overlooked and underappreciated character when you're the one advocating for the plot points in the meetings like you're the most important character!"

"Well, maybe I am!"

The room goes quiet in the aftermath of Logan's shout. He steps even closer to Janus.

"You said it yourself, we don't examine how Logic can be subject to bias even though it claims to be impartial. We've yet to explore how important it is to examine your own biases that you don't even know about yet. So yes, maybe I am the most important when it comes to that, maybe I'm the only one who can do that."

"How dare you," Janus says lowly, "how dare you accuse me of being nothing but selfish when you gladly stand here and appoint yourself the most important?"

"I've never had to claw my way to importance using the misfortune of other Sides that I myself inflicted."

"And yet it's taken you this long to have an arc of your own?"

"You don't start with the biggest arc, you—"

"Oh, the biggest arc? Getting a bit self-aggrandizing, are we?"

"You would know! Was there a boundary you didn't cross on your quest to be featured more prominently?"

"No, because if you'll remember, we all participated in making sure my arc would work for everybody. I asked—"

"You're a new character! You needed to fit with all of us, you needed to—"

"Conform to what you wanted, I see, I see, oh, it's all becoming clear now. You're right, Logan, you really do provide clarity."

"I will not be blamed for the ignorance of others!"

"Oh, you're calling me ignorant now? You really do just devolve into insulting others' intelligence when you don't get your way, don't you?"

"It's not an insult if it's true."

"So I could call you an egotistical hypocrite and that wouldn't be an insult?"

Logan's eyes flare with orange. "Don't you dare—"

"Enough!"

A blinding flash of light fills the room and everyone winces. When it fades, Roman and Remus are standing between the two of them, Roman's arms out to Janus to hold him back, Remus's feet braced to keep Logan at bay.

"Both of you stop it," Roman says firmly, "you're both being ridiculous."

"Looks like we're not the only ones suffering from character bleed." Remus stands up, giving a warning look to Logan as he lets him go. "You two need to remember that we're not actually fighting each other, we're all working together on a project where we play characters with opposing viewpoints."

"But he's—"

"Stop," Roman says, raising his voice and cutting Janus off, "you just picked a fight for no reason. I don't care if your concerns were valid or not, there was no reason to act on them like that in front of everyone."

Janus glowers but lowers his head.

"If you felt like you weren't being heard in the meetings or if you wanted the opportunity to have a teaching role in upcoming videos—" here Janus's head snapped up, for he didn't realize Roman had realized— "you can bring that up at the meeting in a way that isn't this."

"And you," Remus says before Logan can look too smug, "can get right off that high horse of yours."

"But I—"

"You're not blameless in this either," Remus says, "Janus is right. You've been acting a bit too big for your booty shorts recently, especially in scripting meetings. You talk all big about how you want to write your arc and make sure that this story gets told and then you mope about how your character is getting ignored on camera. And then you treat us, not our characters, us, like shit because of the narrative that you wanted to write. You can't have it both ways."

Logan avoids Remus's gaze as he fiddles with his glasses.

"Now," Roman says, "we're all going to go get out of character and decompress for a while, and then when we're all ready, we can have a discussion about the videos. Whether or not we go to Thomas can be decided later. Yes?"

A small chorus of 'yes's from around the room. Patton and Virgil make eye contact and sink out quickly, probably to go decompress together and talk about what just happened while they redo Virgil's nail polish. Roman gives one last warning look to Janus as he opens his mouth to say something.

"I'm sorry, Logan."

Logan looks up.

"I shouldn't…I shouldn't have picked a fight like that. That was rude."

Remus looks at Logan who swallows. "I'm…sorry too. I…I've been excited about getting an arc after so long and I guess I...got over-excited."

"Go decompress," Remus says to both of them, "we can talk this out later."

Both of them sink out, each giving apologetic and hopeful looks to the other. As they go, Roman shakes his head.

"It feels fitting that we're the ones with the most fraught dynamic on camera and the least fraught off camera, doesn't it?"

"You're telling me. Part of me wants to send them to therapy before we keep working on Thomas's fake video one."

"Is that the Logan part of you or the Janus part of you?"

"The part of me that wants to go fuck around in the Imagination before we have to sit through another 'I feel' meeting."

Roman groans sympathetically before a manic gleam comes to his face. "Race you there!"

"Hey, no cheating!"
