Enchantment Lake by Margi Preus was a very cute mystery novel. It takes place in a very small town in Northern Minnesota where people keep mysteriously dying. That’s pretty much it :). If you like easy to follow mysteries, I would recommend this because it’s pretty short but also intriguing. I wasn’t able to figure out the mystery before the end but the clues and things were fun to try and put together. As I first said, it’s cute but not amazing. It definitely isn’t bad, though! I liked all the Minnesota-y stuff in it which made it fun for me to read.

This is an amazing mystery series for older middle grade/YA readers full of mystery, murder, and mayhem. Female protagonist Francie is a more modern and edgy Nancy Drew, digging up secrets from the past to solve the crimes of the present.

In the latest book The Silver Box Francie is solving a mystery particularly close to her heart, to solve the mystery of her missing mother in the North Woods of Minnesota.

Synopsis from the publisher: When she wakes in her aunts’ cold cabin on the shore of Enchantment Lake, Francie remembers: everything about her life has changed. Or is about to. Or just might. Everything depends on the small, engraved silver box that she now possesses—if only she can follow its cryptic clues to the whereabouts of her missing mother and understand, finally, just maybe, the truth about who she really is. Francie, it turns out, has a lot to learn, and this time the lessons could be deadly. Her search for answers takes her and her best friends Raven and Jay as far afield as an abandoned ranch in Arizona and as close to home as a sketchy plant collector’s conservatory and a musty old museum where shadows lurk around every display case. At the heart of it all is a crime that touches her own adopted North Woods: thieves dig up fragile lady’s slippers, peel bark from birches, strip moss off trees, cut down entire forests of saplings to sell for home décor.
