Thinking about how Alice Oseman really balances the portrayal of parenthood in all her books. We have amazing, supportive parents (Sarah Nelson and Lana Janvier); neutral/absent ones (Julio Spring, Stéphane Nelson & Mr. Mengesha); those parents that seem cool but we don't get to see a lot of them (the Quintanas and the Farley-Shaw dads) ... AND then we get Ellis Warr's parents, Jane Spring and the one and only Carol Last.
It feels realistic and shows how not all parent-children relationship are all good or all horrible, and how the actions and attitudes of parents can impact their children even if they are not necessarily classified as abusive.
