It wasn’t explicitly stated in the game but for the second half of The Last of Us Part II, Ellie canonically has a UTI and it burns when she pees, so if you ever stop so she can pee you lose health. This was so Neil could make sure you knew Ellie was having a very bad time.

Ooh a good idea. I bet if I saw Seth pat a dog on the head I’d forget all about the whole slur thing. Aw man, seeing a scene set before her death where we learn more about Shimmer and the mean words she’d say to Ellie would really add some depth to her character and really humanize her to me. Good work!
