Kristen is only 17 years old. Her parents abandoned her. She is looking for certainty and is only finding doubt. She's hurting and struggling and her brain feels like mush.
Cassandra is only 5 months old. Her creator is abandoning her, but won't actually let go. She is looking for love and is only finding doubt. She won't abandon her back. She's hurting and struggling and her chest feels like it's fracturing.
Kristen made her bed. And it's not a bed it's a person. And she has a responsibility to either hang on or let go. She can't do both. Executive dysfunction explains but does not excuse. Get her help.

REDESIGNING MAGIK
Welcome to Limbo! Our group chose Illyana Rasputina, the marvelous Magik for this round! Introduced as the younger sister of Colossus, Magik joined the 80s New Mutants team as a young teen and has since flourished into an A-Lister in her own right. She's been a member of the Phoenix Five, Cyclops' renegade X-Men squad, the Krakoan New Mutants, and the 2022 X-Men team.
She has several inspiration points for artists and redesigners to pull from. She's most well-known for her all-black 2012 look but has also sported demonic and fantasy influences as someone connected to the hellish Limbo and her malevolent alter ego, the Darkchylde.
See what our enthusiastic and talented team of artists did this round, and make sure to follow them on social media for more fantastic art!
(The handles presented after artists names are their Twitter handles, but many use the same name on other platforms!)

"I went full speed ahead into medieval land and dressed Illyana in a full metal shiny armour, putting emphasis on her sword bearing arm with a biiiig spiky shoulder pad. Gave her a punk lesbian haircut while keeping her iconic bangs, because I think she should be allowed to be more of a punk lesbian. And I couldn't resist adding a touch of demon form with the horns. She's gloomy she's menacing she's spiky and shiny she's the girl of my dreams."
Giovanni Saroldi | @/RaulGiova
Tumblr media
"Just like matter, let’s give ‘Yana three states! Solid, liquid, gas? Kinda, not quite! From angelic to demonic, with her main form being the in-between totality of herself, where she can draw whichever power she needs.
It’s geometric, it’s chic, it’s retro-futuristic Terry Moore with the Horns of Galaxy The Prettiest Star meets Ludmilla from Bartok mid-transformation."
John Caden | @/johncaden64
Tumblr media
"I've always felt the Bachalo design was great, but could get very male-gazey.  I tried to make it more comfortable, while also keeping the same goth feel.  I do feel she needs to just go all-in goth, so let's shave her head, get some thick black mascara and commit to the bit! "
John Marsh | @/pastelrake

"What if Illyana had been a Russian figure skater?"
Joe Pryde | @/joeprydecosplay

"My inspiration for this design came from the idea of “what if Magik was an elder emo” complete with Kristen Stewart fem mullet, high waist buckled tights, and sleeveless crop top hoodie. I also wanted to pay homage to previous designs."

"I had but one simple thought: What if the Soul Sword was a rapier? And thus fencing Magik was born. I wanted the geometric shapes of the dark bodysuit to contrast with the curves of the golden armor, whilst still adding a little magic and mystery with her cloak and mask. "

Tumblr media
Version 1 "The Savage Magik". Having been stripped of her magical knowledge, Illyana Rasputin hunts down various enchanted artifacts to replace what she's lost. Becoming desperate she seems to be willing to steal and sometimes kill to get these talismans. Among these are the Soul Dagger of Pixie, the medallion of Daimon Hellstrom, Holy bands from "Heven" and a cursed skull from an alternate version of Lockheed.
Version 2 "Mistress Magik" This is an older more seductive Magik that's been corrupted by the influence of Selene and embraced her sensuality, opening up a whole new avenue of mystical arts that she hadn't dared explore before. She now uses her SoulSword to capture the essences of her foes and much like Selene feeds on them keeping her young and vital.
Version 3 "Magik, Queen of Hell" Many questioned the logic of Magik giving Limbo to Madelyne Prior but the end game has been revealed. Illyana allowed Madelyne to tether her magic to Limbo, knowing eventually "Maddie" would get greedy and begin bringing more power to that dimension. With a carefully hidden clause in the Limbo transference spell Magik takes back Limbo and all the power within it and successfully overthrows all the Hell Lords, unifying the many dreaded dimensions under one fearsome rule, hers.
Anthony Ruiz | @/thwwipstickers
Tumblr media
"Almost as soon as Magik was decided on for this design challenges I had two ideas strike me simultaneously ... The first of those ideas was the image of Illyana as a 90's Riot(ish) on the cover of a Magazine. I wanted to give her an edgy grungy vibe but still pay homage to her Demonic nature.
Shortly after Finishing my first Design I just knew I had to make my second idea come to life.
What if Illyana was an Anime Mech Pilot and Wore a Plugsuit... thats it... thats the idea. I really wanted to strike the Balance between Anime Plugsuit but still being noticeably Magik and X-men.
I kept the Bright yellow Color scheme with hints of black and red and chose to interpret her Armored arm into a Mechanized oversize cybernetic arm that helps fuel her Plasma Powered Soul sword that springs forth from her Gauntlet."
Isaiah Cox | @/isaiahbeenlost
Tumblr media
"When designing my Magik look, I wanted to expand on ideas I had when drawing her a couple years ago by keeping her look sleek, yet scary stylish! So, I referenced a lot of Castlevania and Yoshiaki Kawajiri designs to get that cool anime look for her down! I plucked some fashion inspirations for the costume from places like: Mugler, Alexander McQueen, LaQuan Smith, JRPG rogues and medieval accessories! And for her new soul sword, I decided to give her an Odachi because since she already lived her Cloud Strife fantasy starting from the Bendis-era, I thought it was time for her to live her Sephiroth moment with this giant Japanese sword!"
David J Hughes | @/0ddeity
Tumblr media
"I think with Magik I started out pretty traditional for her. Then I got to thinking our Russian Queen deserves a Mugler-esque fit. I wanted to go down the knight or warrior route, but then I thought ‘What If’ this was an AU Illyana raised by Patch and she got all of Logan’s training rather than Kitty and Jubilee, or, alongside them. So, bham, Oni-demon menpo mask and samurai elements on top of the Mugler flair."
Fleshmonk | @/fleshmonk
Tumblr media
"Went through a bunch of design iterations, but settled on this cool plasticky vinyl plugsuit like version of Magik. I gave her a bob to mature her a bit and to move her towards a new silhouette."
Joshua Bruckner | @/joshingtonbear
Tumblr media
"I took a bit from Magik's more armored designs, which I've always liked the most, and her goth jock aesthetic, and blended them. I rejected the Bachalo booty shorts in favor of a skirt, which gives her a bit of a 'cheerleader from hell' look."
Seye Sanyaolu | @/seye_art
Tumblr media
"My intention for this redesign was Magik in a very dystopian future and so I imagined a 3/4 darkchylde Illyana that is in control of her self and powers (although almost lost it). In this future, most of the X-Men are gone and Illyana keeps a worn and frayed X-jacket on for the nostalgia :’)"

helloooo love yj was emotionally destroyed by latest ep but needed your take on the fact that 1) no one seemed to really react to last episodes beating? like there were some snide remarks at Shauna but otherwise hardly anything. Like I was feeling some residue anger towards her and her violence and I thought there *might* be some suggestion to sacrifice her instead. And secondly 2) how did they all get on the same page about killing through cards? Again I don't need them to discuss the steps or anything but just...some protests some dealing with the darkness of the matter....
1)
Lottie has SO much power over them at this point. Last week there was an interview with Courtney Eaton where she said that even thought Lott's on the brink of death here the other jackets still speak for her, and I think they really got this across (especially the way they keep cutting to her laying there, alone, like she's somehow following along with events she's not there for, and others are saying what she'd say, especially when Van says the wilderness chose Javi).
Nat says to Coach that if Lott did die it wouldn't be such a bad thing because of how much she's messed them all up, how heavily she's gotten into their heads. And she's completely right. The reality is that when Lott told Shauna to let it out, she wasn't just giving her permission, she was giving her an ORDER and nobody in the cabin was going to go against it. Shauna's not really held responsible for her actions, because it wasn't her choice, it was Lottie's.
Finally, Lott told her to do it because she said "We NEED you." If they'd have said "We should kill YOU to save Lottie" then they'd be abandoning everything that Lott had suffered for in the first place. They'd be saying that Lottie was wrong for getting Shauna to beat her in the first place.
2)
I think that the setup was there in terms of the way that Melissa and Gen had been talking in s2e7 about eating Kristen if they found her, Misty and Kristen had talked in s2e3 about enjoying eating Jackie, that Shauna had herself said it wasn't the worst thing, that Lottie had agreed that it was a good thing that they'd done, that they've been starving constantly ever since, that Ben's brought it up multiple times, that it's had to have been just CONSTANTLY on all of their minds.
I don't think that it's a taboo that you can break without it haunting you, and without it just... remaining in the back of your mind for the rest of your life. It'd fundamentally change the way that you look at other human beings, as potential food sources not just people. And moreover, it had SAVED them. And now they're starving, again. And they're not incorrect in that Lott's immune system is collapsing, her ability to heal from such damage is practically zero without food. In very brutal terms, she needs protein to repair.
(the actual medical reality of long term malnutrition is far more complex than that, but in the logic of the show, a solid meal will absolutely help)
And when we're talking about human sacrifice I think there's two aspects of it. The first is that they're talking spiritual. The Wilderness sees them, and helps them. If they give the Wilderness a life, maybe it'll give them one.
(Lottie herself said it doesn't work like this, but she's out of commission right now, and her grip on how it works isn't strong anyway, so in her absence this is 100% a thing they can grab onto)
The other aspect is pragmatic. A physical sacrifice of meat, of nutrients IS useful. But more than that... to the cult Lottie is the MOST important of them, the one they cannot live without, period. Van said "I can't imagine being here without her." And Lottie's already said that if she dies they should eat HER. She's already opened this can of worms, already sacrificed her own body, in theory. So they're not... so much attacking each other, as they are all volunteering to take her place on the chopping block, all for her sake (AND for the sake of each other, with the shared understanding that without Lottie they'll probably all die). Publicly acknowledging they're less important than her they're willing to sacrifice themselves for the whole.
See we're used to human sacrifice being this thing where you take someone ELSE and you kill them, for the sake of getting what you want. This is something else. This is taking YOURSELF, and sacrificing YOURSELF for a thing that's more important to you than your own life. To them... they think it's honourable, an act of love, not cruelty, or selfishness.
If it hadn't been Nat who got the queen, I doubt they would've put up any amount of fight. Because Nat's the only one at this point not really on board. Like, if it'd been Mari, she'd have probably cried or something but she'd not have argued, and nobody would've stepped in on her behalf.
The cards are just... a system they already had. If they had straws they'd have used those. They were already dividing up chores with the cards, it makes sense in their little world to use cards as a fair and random system. None of them WANT to die, none of them WANT to do the killing, they just see it as... another unpleasant thing that has to happen.
Which as a sidenote makes me think about the necklace. Jackie gave it to Shauna as an act of love and protection. Shauna gave it back as an act of love and protection. She took it back from Jackie's corpse in the same way. We're so used to seeing it as an ominous thing, but I think that when she put it on Nat it was meant in the same way, as a sign of ... this isn't personal, not malicious. It's love, it's hope that on the other side you're okay.

FROZEN THE MUSICAL // F1 & F2 (+ theories about F3): Why Colder By The Minute is a very important song.
youtube
"Colder By The Minute" is one of my favourite songs from Frozen The Musical, not only because it's the climax of the story in song-form, but also how the couple Kristen & Bobby Lopez came to realize how this whole situation works as two parallel duets:
"And the other thing we realized, that really helped us, [...] was that we realized that it was two duets: it was Anna and Kristoff, and it was Elsa and Hans, in a duet. Once we realized that, and those were the pairs we were trying to connect, then we were able to put the puzzle piece together in Bobby's computer, bit by bit."
Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Colder By The Minute - Commentary)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the ensamble (rappresenting the snow storm), we have Anna, and then Elsa, taking the center of the stage and singing their lyrics, while Kristoff and Hans sing respectively as the "other-half" of these duets.
For me, this song is amazing because it reflects pefectly that "narrative balance" in Anna & Elsa arcs that the Musical manages to do, compared to the movie, which's mainly Anna's story (but this is for obvious reasons: more time, more songs etc etc). What the Musical enforces even better is Kristoff & Hans role, with their arcs becoming, the more time passes, perfectly parallel to those of Anna & Elsa.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Colder By The Minute" summs up this narration, showing how insecure and desperate these two girls are, "supported" in opposite ways by these two male characters (Kristoff out of his genuine love/Hans out of his lust for power), who are much more experienced with the outside world.
As we know, the sisters will disprove these "fairy-tale archetypes", each one solving their own issues themselves, thanks to each other, with Anna performing the act of true love by sacrifying herself to save Elsa, and Elsa finding the way to control her powers and freeing Arendelle from the Eternal Winter, all thanks to Anna's proof that she deserves love:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Frozen 2 gives me the idea that, working on the Musical in general (this song afterall it's the climax), than the next step was for Anna & Elsa to follow a even clear parallel path, something that would focus entirely on THEM as individuals, making their own choices, rediscovering their own family heritage, under the more self-defining concept of "destiny":
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a way, I see the two sisters following "under a different light" the paths that Kristoff and Hans took in the 1st movie, with Anna facing the changes that are coming in her life and choosing to do what is right despite the cost (just like Kristoff chose to lose her forever to ensure her safety ) and Elsa searching for her true self, risking to cross a "determined line" for her own good (just like Hans schemed in order to plan her demise and take the throne).
The resolution shows then Elsa saving Arendelle from the tidalwave, helped by Nokk and being granted with the full power of Ahtohallan, thanks to Anna freeing the Enchanted Forest from its curse by destroying King Runeard's Dam, also thanks to the help of Kristoff and Lieutenant Mattias:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is why my main clue in case of a Frozen 3 lies in the sisters "Balance", and in the idea that Kristoff & Hans can be the key to a new story now that our two protagonists have found their "roles in the world", going through a common journey where they both hold the responsability of this whole situation, of course in opposite ways, but it was truely about THEM (the sister central discussion happens in front of the remains of their own parents ship):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Kristoff & Hans were the "experienced figures" in F1, Anna & Elsa are now the two "in charge" of this new status quo thanks to F2.
Even if less impactful, Kristoff has an arc, an evolution where we can see him letting some of his "inner-walls" down and finally express his feelings more openly, after a life-time used to be a nobody, living in the woods with only Sven and the Trolls giving him company, and now he's engaged to the Queen of Arendelle herself, that would clearly put him more under the spot light. Hans is not present, but it's clear that the "13th son of a king" everyone was looking at has now become a complete nobody, mocked and deprised, and with none caring about what was of him even after 3 years from his terrible actions.
Even if it's not as explicit as someone would expect (or hope for), there's actually a very strong, thin line of potential that the best way to handle Anna & Elsa status quo, to subvert things, and not losing the "Two world dynamic", may come from the only two other main human characters that actually had great importance in shaping their own present when they were struggling with their own past.
Tumblr media
After all, Anna's relationship with Kristoff and their engagment resonates with the love of her own parents, which is now a symbol of the unity with the Northuldra, a new path she is leading Arendelle through, and Elsa's role as the Fifth Spirit is to connects the magic of nature and humanity, bringing balance through her powers and protecting the Enchanted Forest from threats like their own grandfather was:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe I'm wrong ... but the logic seems to add up pretty well, considering what direction they took Frozen 2 on, how it parallels with F1 and how much the Musical was important in its development. The characters on a path that was meant to view the 1st Frozen itself under a different light, so that could be the next step in order to carry on certain themes and concepts, which doesn't mean we wouldn't get new things.

Yeah, I'm going to keep blaming KR for things she is doing, people can keep waiting for Buddie until the show has ended, that is no reason to be OK with the relationship desapearing now, speacially if it means Buck won't interact with Chris at all. It's not about the expectative of them becoming a couple it's about the fact that right now they are barely friends. They stoped talking. That is how you kill a ship, probably KR's intention. I don't get your logic at all.
"I don't get your logic at all." Because you don't want to. I don't care if people "blame" Kristen. Just don't forget to blame her boss, TOO. Tim CHOSE to walk away from OG. He CHOSE to put her in charge. He continually CHOOSES to let her make the decisions when he has the ability to come back and make changes. Kristen is getting "blamed" for doing her job the way she wants because Tim stopped doing HIS. That is my fucking logic.

acting like people hate kristen because she called buddie a “friendship” in that article while purposefully ignoring the rhetoric she used and how a lot of people who have been played before over gay ships have seen that exact language used before is extremely reductive. nobody is mad she scalled them a friendship. we know thats what they are CURRENTLY but her saying “actually this isnt whats happening this is all in your head you are seeing things that arent there” was still extremely harmful in the language she chose ? acting like people dislike kristen and that shes “homophobic” for calling them a frienship is just. untrue.
oh, you want to do this? okay, let's do this.
first off. the quotes being discussed come from an article by max gao, renowned terrible journalist with a grudge against the writers who thinks buddie is queerbait and that any good buddie scenes are accidental. you might say he has an agenda. it's also an article, not an interview transcript, which means he can frame quotes however he wants. you know, like according to his agenda.
Reidel said that, while the writers' "original intention is never to string anybody along," she doesn't know if there has been a goal about defining their dynamic, even if she realizes the actors who play them "have terrific chemistry." As a woman who has many "amazing, deep relationships with other women in my life that are platonic," Reidel said, "I personally have always seen [Buck and Eddie] as a great friendship."
so. they're not stringing anyone along on purpose. buck and eddie are friends. next question
"But I think the struggle with the Buck and Eddie relationship is, we write a thing and we have an idea in our head of what the scene means and what those lines mean and an intention behind it, and then it goes out into the world," Reidel added. "People may receive it in a way that we had not expected or that we had not planned on, and I'm not gonna tell people that they're watching the show wrong because people see what they see. But I think that they're very good friends, and in a lot of ways, they are family, and I think that's where they are right now."
"To me, that's kind of an example of, I intend one thing and people see it a different way. And there really is no right or wrong—you see what you see," Reidel added. "So I completely get why people saw that as something deeper and more meaningful. They went from two guys who didn't really get along because Buck was super jealous of Eddie when he got there, and they have become family. And family doesn't always look the way you think it's going to."
please explain to me how "i'm not gonna tell people that they're watching the show wrong" and "there is no right or wrong here" translates to "actually this is all in your head"
like. what exactly is the problematic rhetoric here? is it that kristen herself has great platonic friendships in her life? does that somehow poison everything she touches and mean she can only write platonic friendships?
it's also worth noting that max (as well as other journalists apparently) has a tendency to bring specifically buddie up in places where buddie doesn't belong. so it's entirely possible--i would even posit likely, just based on the way it seems to take her a second to find the point--that these questions weren't originally planned on, so she didn't have a response ready to go. so she had to prevaricate, because i promise you they're not gonna spoil something this big in an interview with a random 20-year-old who hasn't even finished journalism school yet.
also, kristen has written some pretty iconic buddie content, and continues to do so. she wrote survivors. she wrote kids today. she wrote hero complex. she wrote eddie's queer as hell breakup in desperate measures and eddie being petty about abby in what's next. she wrote all the buddie parallels and callbacks this week. surely if she was actually anti-buddie she would have started steering away by now?
tl;dr kristen is not the enemy (max gao is the enemy) and i'm gonna bite the next person who tries to tell me she is
(also i'm not 'acting' like people think kristen is homophobic i have seen people calling her that with my very own eyes)

Raquel Leviss Apologizes to Ariana Madix as Tom Sandoval Threatens to Quit Vanderpump Rules
Tumblr media
When Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, and Jax Taylor were fired from Vanderpump Rules back in 2020, there were concerns that the show’s most dramatic days were over.
Last week, however, Tom Sandoval and Raquel Leviss looked at the show’s former lead troublemakers and said, “Hold my Pumptini.”
As you’ve no doubt heard by now, Sandoval and Leviss were caught having an affair behind the back of Tom’s longtime girlfriend Ariana Madix.
These two have reportedly been hooking up since September, but Ariana just found out about the affair last week, when she discovered explicit texts that Raquel had sent to Tom.
Tumblr media
These days, Tom and Raquel are weathering a PR storm that threatens their careers and reputations.
They’re both doing their best to convince the public that they’re not such bad people, but the results, predictably, have not been great.
Tumblr media
“I want to apologize for my actions and my choices foremost to Ariana, and to my friends and the fans so invested in our relationships,” Leviss wrote in a statement that was almost identical to Sandoval’s.
“There is no excuse, I am not a victim and I must own my actions and I deeply regret hurting Ariana.”
Tumblr media
“Although I chose to be on a reality show accepting the good and bad that comes with it, beyond my own actions I have been physically assaulted, lost friendships, received death threats and hate emails in addition to having had my privacy violated,” she wrote.
From there, Leviss explained that she has sought counseling in order to better understand her “patterns of codependency and addiction to being and feeling loved.”
Tumblr media
“Right now I must focus on my own health and well-being and as I strive to be a better person moving forward, I will prioritize my mental health and learn from my mistakes.”
Meanwhile, it looks as though Sandoval is not handling the blowback very well at all.
Tumblr media
The trouble reportedly arose when Tom filmed a scene with Raquel and then requested that it be reshot.
“Tom wasn’t happy with how the scene went with Raquel and felt like it was going to paint him in a negative light. He told producers he’d like to re-film the scene, but producers weren’t having it,” a production insider tells Entertainment Tonight.
Tumblr media
Yes, Tom has spent the past decade building a reputation as a “nice guy,” and now it’s all out the window.
But it’s hard to feel bad for the guy.
After all, to be regarded as a nice guy, you have to actually do nice things, and clearly, Tom can’t be bothered.

I spent half a day completely offline, so I've now experienced the pizza-in-hand-room-on-fire meme in first hand 🤣
yes, I'm talking about the Tim and Kristen interview.
my thoughts, very briefly, just to add my voice to the ones still believing buddie is endgame:
1 - showrunners (and actors) lie. they would never spoil future episodes, so if they have to talk about the past, if they have to give non-answers or flat out lie, they will. Tim has lied many times in past interviews and he will keep doing it.
2 - what's already obvious from the promos is that Eddie is going to have a breakdown, and in the interview they mention an identity crisis. ok, he left his firefighting career and that could lead to it, but that can't be all, can it? because Frank's question is about fear, and Eddie's panic attacks started way before he even considered leaving the 118. so what identity crisis is Eddie really dealing with here? I'm still firmly convinced this is a queer awakening arc and if it isn't, it's the biggest wasted opportunity in the history of television.
3 - Max isn't a journalist and it shows. he has a hard time keeping the viewer/fan Max apart from the journalist Max, he keeps blurring the lines and, even though he should be well aware of Tim's "lies" (see point 1) he insists in taking every single word at face value and making tweets about it. this interview was weirdly timed imo and the only one gaining from it, via twitter engagement, is... Max.
4 - the on-screen chemistry between Oliver and Ryan is amazing, both actors are on board with the possibility of buddie becoming canon (they baptized the ship, ffs!), their story so far as been very well crafted and, if done right, it could make tv history. to throw this all away would be incredibly dumb, and for what? just to stomp a foot on the ground and say "making them a couple was not in our initial plans, so we refuse to make it happen, fans don't tell us what to do"? I find that highly unlikely (no, not impossible, because * insert "I see dumb people everywhere" meme here *, but still very very very unlikely).
so yeah, I'm one of those 9-1-1 fans that is still saying "let's wait and see". yeah yeah, I know, how many more seasons, right? and I tell you: this one. two things must happen for buddie to be canon by the end of this season or the next: Eddie must go through a queer-awakening arc (and him going into therapy it's the perfect time for it, he has many repressed issues to deal with, sexuality can be one of them) and Buck must realize that he deserves to be in a relationship because he chose to and not because it just sort of happened to him, so he'll have to decide to break up with Taylor because she's not the right person for him (and not because he hooks up with yet another woman).
if none of these things happen, if by the end of 5b Eddie and Buck are back at the 118 but nothing has changed between them or about them, then yeah, I'll be picking up a pitchfork and heading to Tim and Kirsten's office to have a few words with them. until then, I remain a very enthusiastic buddie shipper. 😉

Imagine Pedro being teased and questioned about how close he is with you, Gal’s adopted sister, and trying his best to hide the fact that you are actually dating.
Tumblr media
“So, Gal, I am going to direct this question mostly at you but of course anyone can get to answer. I actually wanted to know your opinion about it.” Conan said, as Gal herself nodded her head with a smile.
“Oh, please, with pleasure.”
“There have been several photos, and I do not mean just from paps or professionals. Even you on your personal instagram posted a few. Which, to say the least, broke the internet as we all saw.”
“Yeah uh truth is my instagram wasn't working for several hours afterwards and I thought it was just me but then I kept asking others and got the same reply from everyone! Turns out, we caused a blackout of sorts.” Gal laughed, admitting to it before looking away in embarrassment while the rest of the cast nodded their heads as if almost giving her a a playful glare, even through the screen of the computer.
“And the reason behind that, who would have thought, a couple photos!” Jimmy nodded his head “Your sister, your adopted sister (Y/n), came to visit you on the set of Wonder Woman 1984. It was, for lack of better words, a historic moment not just for instagram who crashed because of the popularity of the photos but also for comic book fans worldwide. It was the closest we could get to a Marvel and DC crossover.”
“You say that because she was in her costume in some of them yeah?” Gal asked with a bright smile, always loving to talk about her little sister as Conan nodded his head “Yes, it was (Y/n)'s idea and everyone knows it, I can never say no to my little sister. Plus, she was right; we had so much fun fooling around in our costumes! I had more fun than I've ever had on a set of a movie before. And, yes, I almost always enjoy the movies I'm in, but this one- this one was truly something else! We- almost everyone, I think, played along as we acted as our characters and filmed some scenes just for laughs. I really really hope they make it into the bloopers somehow.”
“So you're planning on taking down youtube next, I see. I see.” the host nodded his head with playfully narrowed eyes, seeming all suspicious and making everyone laugh.
“No, no I swear! I don't want to!” she said in between laughter “We all had so much fun and an amazing time on set and in front of the cameras, playing superheroes that it would be incredible for the fans to see! It's- Really, it is kind of an unofficial crossover that should make it to the internet at least!”
“I'll have to-” Patty spoke up “I'll have to give it to Gal, she is right. (Y/n) had this amazing idea and creative at the same time because she had a small plot in her mind and lines and everything concerning the set. We all did a small setup and filmed it and, honestly, it came out to be real good!”
“Patty is no even exaggerating and Gal is certainly right. We had so much fun filming that small crossover, and (Y/n)'s ideas were brilliant! Fans will definitely love it!” Kristen said in addition.
“She truly is an incredibly talented, smart and creative person, besides an absolute darling. So kind to everyone and sweet, we all couldn't get enough of her. And-” Patty raised a finger “I will say it here once more because Gal has heard it before: the fastest we've filmed a scene in this movie. And it was all thanks to how professional she was, it was truly incredible!”
“Well, I can't ever deny it, my little sister is the biggest star there is! Oscars or other awards aside, she proves how great she is on every set on her own!”
“And you are definitely her biggest fan, as we all can clearly tell.” Conan pointed out with a small laugh “Speaking of, I think we do have someone who could only be described as your main rival on that sweet stop of being your sister's number one fan. Someone who hasn't been shy about expressing his admiration about (Y/n) but who has yet to utter a word.” Conan looked back up from his papers and said someone almost felt his heart jump in fear and nervousness, hoping that at least nobody noticed that he was indeed being silent for a reason “Pedro, you're being uncharacteristically quiet about this one, especially for something that caused Instagram to crash within thirty minutes of the photos being uploaded. I'm not- I'm not used to this from you. Come on, talk to me. Say what's on your mind.”
“This is oddly- I'm getting strange deja vu vibes here. Must be cause of that one time I visited a therapist. Long story short, it was only one session for me and about hm at least 25 for him. I heard he's still going to a therapist now.” he shrugged casually, earning laughter from everyone. He chuckled slightly himself, glancing over the screen of his computer while trying his best to keep anything from showing on his face even more so his smile, rubbing the back of his neck.
“I mean-” he cleared his throat “Ah man, what else can I say? The ladies have spoken, and they've said exactly what- I believe anyone that gets the opportunity to work with (Y/n) or watch her movies would agree she is one of a kind.” he shrugged softly with an adorable smile “Besides, it feels like anything I say is just going to be used against me, so I- I better keep on silently observing. That does seem like it's the safest option here.”
Pedro's laugh was more of a nervous if not awkward one, but he was pretty confident it was just no different to how he would usually laugh away questions he didn't want to answer in interviews. Most celebrities did the same, he wouldn't be the first nor the last, so he didn't expect Conan to insist any further. He didn't want to push his luck, he had been really successful (if not blessed after all these close calls) with all these online interviews to not have everything revealed by accident, so now especially with the current topic, he didn't feel like messing things up. He loved this privacy, he didn't want to lose it not yet, he wanted you and this all to himself for now. And he wanted the story of how you met, of how over that one month and a half on set he felt himself fall in love with you.
And yet... Yet, he was probably a weak man, a man who couldn't help but indulge even if he knew it could probably get him in trouble. You were worth it, though, you were worth all of it and as you were his weakest spot and so indulge he did. He slowly chewed on his lower lip and he so subtly looked over the screen of his computer.
His eyes fell on you, still splayed on his bed, book in one hand and steaming mug on the nightstand – your nightstand on your side of the bed, the thought of which made his heart flutter inside his chest – hair slightly messy, that oversized Mandalorian shirt on, which you'd gotten all excited amongst many many more fandom related toys a couple months ago and couldn't wait for him to see. A shirt which had, inevitably, ended up being taken off you barely ten minutes later starting from him stealing kisses and leading to the two of you making love till the very morning in between endless giggles. The pup you'd gotten – the both of you – not so long ago made a small noise drawing your attention for a short moment as you kept petting him, the both of you too tired to do anything else after an exhausting day of playing. Pedro couldn't complain, although he'd been a part of it he had mostly spent time filming everything even if you hadn't been the one to ask him to, he couldn't help it.
It was something that the both of you decided on and although you hadn't said it out loud, you both knew and at least Pedro hoped, that it was the next step, a very important one, in your relationship besides you moving in with him. To be responsible for another living being together was, if not a test, at least a way to see how well you could cooperate. And, if he could say so himself, you had been doing great so far.
“Good morning, darling. Here for morning kisses? Yes? Come up here.” your giggles were able to warm him more than the sunlight coming through the window “Ooooh someone really loves mommy, don't you?”
And then your words set his entire being alight. Or more specifically that one particular word.
“Well-” he stretched a bit, his arms finding your waist again to bring you closer and cuddle with you “Who doesn't love mommy in this house?” he couldn't help it as his smile turned into a lovestruck grin “Morning, mi amor.”
“Good morning, darling.” you pecked his lips “And don't worry, mommy loves daddy back, enough to make up for the rest of the world.”
As if reading his mind, you chose to look up from your book at him, smiling as you held his gaze for a good few seconds. So much love was evident, even in those few seconds, he could almost feel his own heart burst. Yet another reason for him to control his reactions from showing just how much on high on happiness and love he was. You shook your head, eyes wide as you heard Conan speak again, you playfully mouthed to him “Focus!”
As subtly as possible he tried to clear his throat and taking the mug of coffee that was beside his computer, he took a sip and decided to focus on it as much as he could. Until the subject changed, at least.
“...Wise man. I feel you, so don't worry I'll leave you to it.” if only he knew the big sigh of relief Pedro tried to hold back as Conan continued “It's the tactic I follow 99% of the time when I'm out with my wife, just smile and wave kind of thing. Alright-” he nodded his head in thought “Alright, well, let me ask you all something else. You keep saying in front of the cameras and talking about this small crossover, but I assume she must have been around for longer than that, yes?”
“Yes, yes she was there for at least a month, a month and a half I think. She was on vacation, after being done with filming, and she decided that before heading home that she'd come by and visit us. It was meant to be for a short period of time. She loved the place... the people, perhaps, how could I know for sure?” she shrugged not looking innocent in the least bit, earning a few laughs.
“Anyway-” she cleared her throat “And you see before she knew it, before we all did, one week turned into two turned into three and so on. It-” she chuckled “She was around on set and with us on all those beautiful locations we were in. And while we were all working and walking around with purpose and the need to finish this scene with so much pressure on- on our shoulders and she was just sitting around with a iced coffee or tea on her hand, sunglasses on and phone on the other hand looking she didn't have a single care in the world. It kind of made everyone a little bit jealous to be honest.”
“A little? Cause I sense that there's more than you're letting on, Gal. Come on, spill the tea.”
“Alright more than a little.” she laugh “I mean, it wasn't all the time, of course. Just the first couple days mostly but you can imagine how it was. It seemed like she did it on purpose sometimes.”
“Twistin' the knife even deeper, that's what she's best at. Oh I know!” Conan nodded his head “I'm actually afraid to invite her on the show because I fear how bad she'll roast me. Andy-” he laughed “Andy is the only one who has the most fun during those interviews.”
“I know right? Boy you tell me!” Gal exclaimed “That little shit. I adore her to no end but I really had the hardest of time when she was around. She just had to make comments on everything she could, especially when I was acting. I couldn't stop laughing sometimes, but nobody got mad at her. It was always my fault somehow!”
“I mean she's just so sweet, how could we be mad at her?” Patty added.
“She messed up so many of my scenes!” Gal pretended to be angry but her smile gave it away “But it's true, I couldn't even be mad at her. I don't get to see her that often, because of the work we both do, so I would give anything to have my sister with me like that every other chance I got. Even if I got all the blame for it, there's nothing I wouldn't do for her, you understand.”
“Aw that's- that's incredibly sweet, actually. It's- that's the exact opposite of me and my brother so no I can't really understand to be honest, but alright.” Conan laughed “Well, then, you really got your chance this time, right? You had the opportunity to spend all this time with her. When you were not working of course.”
“I...” Gal trailed off, her smile turning into a mischievous one but the rest of her expression trying to remain innocent, and failing at it because she truly wasn't even trying “Well, I would say yes. And I would agree with you. And I would even ramble about the wonderful two months I spent with my sister... If that had been the case. If I had really seen her for more than a week total, then yeah I would say that.”
“Wha- P-Pardon me?” Conan blinked in surprise “Didn't you j-just say your sister was with you on set for about two months? Or have I been in a parallel universe all this time and I just now came back to our reality?”
“Oh no it's very much our reality but I also did mean what I said. My sister was on set, and I did see her quiet often. But did I spend almost all of my free time with her? Did she spend hers with me? Nope. And that-” again with a far-from-innocent shrug “That is probably the only question I can answer. What she did? Did she have fun?... Who she was with? I wish I knew. What I know is I wasn't the one closest to her on set.”
“So you're telling me, (Y/n) was on set full of people she didn't really know, and you, her sister, barely spent any time with her? I'm gonna assume the rest of you didn't spend more time with her compared to Gal, right?” he asked and got nods from everyone, well, everyone who had their eyes on their screen and therefore looking at Conan, because there was still one that would avoid eye-contact even through the screen “Well, then, who was closest to her on set, if not you?”
“She, well-” Gal paused, smile all too sweet as she added “There could be someone...”
Said someone who couldn't even look up from his mug of coffee, as if it was the most interesting thing in the entire world, and didn't dare say a word for fearing of messing things up; even if his silence spoke volumes as it was. A silence which was... even more intense than before. Even more... real. Probably because it wasn't just in his head, probably because it wasn't just from his part.
Blinking several times, he slowly raised his head to look up from his mug and at the screen of his computer. Only to be met with the eyes of the rest of the group staring at... well, they were staring at the screen of their own computers but for some reason – a reason which he knew all too well – he felt like all eyes were suddenly on him. And they probably were. Because Gal was being nice about it but almost everyone had noticed how much time you had spent with Pedro during those almost two months. You had just met back then so they didn't imply anything back then but now... now they could just as well do so.
“I-” he laughed and he hated how nervous he sounded “Is it time to talk about my character?” he asked almost shyly, nearly praying on the inside that they would say yes and let him change the subject “Well, Max Lord is a guy who-”
“Are you trying to change the subject there, Pedro? One can wonder why.” Conan narrowed his eyes “Come on, don't be shy. Share your opinion here, or maybe your personal experience. Since I am assuming you do have one?”
“Yes, Pedro, why don't you share your opinion with us?” Gal raised an eyebrow, small smirk on her lips “You've been particularly interested in that drink the past couple minutes apparently.”
“I-” Pedro paused, before shaking his head with a laugh “This is going to be a long interview. I can tell.”

So I have to just talk about this episode for a second and how out of sorts it felt to me. I have a lot of feelings and I just need to get them out and throw them into the void. I still have my rewatches to do, of course, but I truly am trying to connect some of these events to the characters' overall stories and basic logic.
Let me just start out with I think we're in a very good place with Buddie. But everything outside of that? Whoa.
I'm not saying the episode was bad. It was meant to be intense, a closeup to the chaos arc, and a lot was going on. But did anyone else feel like some things were...not fitting well? The resolution we got to Athena's situation with Hudson and of course thankfully Harry is safe, it all played out well I thought. Though the circumstances around it felt a bit odd to me.
For example, Michael who was married to Athena for such a long time knows she's not going to wait at home, but didn't once think that during a blackout, it might be a good idea to keep track of who is walking in the front door? I get it, be helpful to your neighbors, a very nice thing to do, but how do you know someone walking around the neighborhood won't take advantage of that fact? And not even in the whole they'll eat your food or possibly knock off something kind of way but in a this-person-could-be-potentially-dangerous-to-everyone kind of way. That felt like an odd choice of common sense to not only have Michael being dismissive of but to then call attention to it twice, once of Harry being the one to call Hudson out on not knowing who he is and then showing Hudson helping himself to a drink while Michael and David are having a drink in the background, laughing and talking, only paying attention to each other. And then to have Michael turning around and getting angry at Athena for not telling him that Hudson was on the loose (when she only figured out mere minutes beforehand that she might be a target) so he would have been on the lookout and wouldn't have let their neighbors in...it just felt so off to me. Not that parents wouldn't snap at each other in that situation, not that Michael wouldn't feel guilty and was probably lashing out, but I don't know how else to put it, it just felt off. The only thing I can think of is that due to the writer being Kristen Reidell is that this situation will be revisited at some point with Harry and Michael.
Then you have Maddie's disappearing act. I get that JLH is taking time for her family behind the scenes but I guess I'm a little confuzzled as to why they chose to do it this way? What was wrong with Maddie being checked into a treatment center to get the help she needs? And when I say being checked into, I mean her checking herself in. Leaving Jee-Yun at the station with Ravi and taking off, not even talking directly to Chimney (I get it, his phone was dead, but still) or Buck, that just feels incredibly off. And her leaving like that is really off for her character. I get it, she is suffering from PPD, but still. It would have been a more positive message I think to have her check herself into a treatment center, with the support of Chimney and Buck and those who love her, rather than have her dump the baby at the firestation and run. I'm sure the writers have a plan and I do trust in it, but I do wish they had thought about the message choosing that action sends. This isn't the 50's, there are multiple resources to help mothers suffering from PPD. But ever since it was confirmed Maddie had PPD, it kind of felt like we were back in the 50's and no one talks about it. I just didn't care for the way that was handled if I'm being completely honest.
Eddie and Ana's breakup. While I'm not too broken up over this, no pun intended, I did find their handling of it to be a bit odd. Don't get me wrong, it was a very good scene for Eddie and it was more emotional than I expected it to be (I think some of us have been where Ana was in a relationship and can be somewhat empathetic to her plight), but Eddie not talking to Christopher? Us not seeing Ana saying goodbye to Christopher? It's almost as if Christopher got relegated to the background. I mean, I get it, this was about Eddie and his relationship with Ana, and of course he threw up the Christopher shield again. "Chris loves you so much." But to have Christopher there in the beginning, to have Eddie say that to Ana in front of Christopher but then try to back track, then to move right in for the kill after closing the door, I don't know man, it just felt off to me. It was good to see Eddie make his decision, a decision we all saw coming to be quite frank. But the way it did, I don't know, it just felt extremely off.
Buck and Maddie - where tf did this sibling relationship go? Like seriously. We never saw a phone call or a text (which didn't require both actors to shoot) when Eddie got shot. We only see Maddie interacting with Chim about it. Then we never see Buck finding out about her PPD (that we know of). During the chaos, Buck never even asks about her (that I can remember). The only mention we get of Jee-Yun is during the power czar scene in 5x02. I get it, Buck is in a new relationship, but as we've seen so far, it's not all it's cracked up to be and he's not twitterpated so to speak. He still has a life outside of Taylor and vice versa. So wtf? (this is why I usually binge everything once it's aired btw for all other shows, I can't watch some of these live but I couldn't wait, I needed to know how my 911 faves are doing!!!)
The only thing I can think is that we've seen Bobby's earthquake (I think it really hit this episode with Harry's kidnapping and Athena's standoff with Hudson), Chim's bombs hitting (with Maddie running off), and some of Eddie's mudslide (I have a feeling that there may be a reaction from Christopher, maybe not a strong one, but something after this episode, especially since we didn't see Chris' reaction this one or Eddie even talking to him about it). The only people we're still waiting on is Hen's having an emergency (which if people's predictions for 5x07 are right, then there you go) and Buck's tsunami. This is truly going to be the season that shakes this team up. The ransomware attack and blackout may be over but I don't think the chaos is if I'm being honest. Not in our characters' arcs for this season.
Even though Buck's reaction to Chim in the promo for 5x04 about Maddie is hurting my heart, I'm hoping Chim tells him then and that snaps things into perspective really quick. And of course, I'm looking forward to more Uncle Buck time. <3

Lately I can’t stop thinking about Adam, like I’m legit crushed over what this show did to him. I know Supernatural was never perfect but the way it treated this character was so damn vicious, condescending and nasty; no different than a high school bully picking on an injured elementary schooler.
He never stood a chance. The thing is I don’t know what it was that made me latch onto Adam so strongly for over a decade. Maybe I could just sympathize and easily relate to his situation of being discarded and forgotten by family members. Or maybe I saw potential in this character and couldn’t fathom why no one else on that writing staff and the SPN fandom couldn’t.
I want you to take a second and absorb these pertinent facts about Adam Milligan that this show put forward. This is not anti-anything this is all the truth so bare with me:
He was the illegitimate youngest child of hunter John Winchester; a man who treated his older sons Sam and Dean like soldiers on his platoon.
Adam only saw his bio dad ONCE A YEAR and it was only to take him to ball games not to train him so that he could protect himself and his mother from (supernatural) threats.
He never knew the existence of his older brothers nor did they know about him because John deliberately ripped those pages out of his journal. Essentially trying to erase any evidence of Adam and Kate.
Because Adam grew up having no clue what was out there or about the “family business”  he and his mother suffered VIOLENT PRE-MATURE DEATHS at the hands of ghouls which Adam STILL REMEMBERS long after being murdered.
Oh and John failed to kill those ghouls, providing them the golden opportunity of impersonating him and his mother so they could kill John and his half-brothers.
Adam was only an 18 year old pre-med studying medicine. Probably wanted to follow in his mother’s footsteps in helping people as she was a nurse.
Because Kate worked nights as a single mother, Adam had to grow up being his own parent at times; cooking his own meals and putting himself to bed.
Adam was ironically born on September 29th (1990) which is also known as Michaelmas aka the Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel and Raphael. A potential storyline that could’ve gone somewhere but didn’t.
Adam is also by birthright a Men of Letters legacy though his brothers fail to mention that 10 years later.
The last thing Adam was doing while he was in Heaven, designed to look like his Prom, he was kissing a girl Kristen McGee; whom we’ll never know about or if he’ll ever see again.
Adam was ripped out of Heaven against his will by the angels to be used and manipulated as their backup device in the Apocalypse because Sam and Dean refused to comply with their demands.
After being resurrected, Adam was then recovered, kidnapped and held hostage by TFW (Sam, Dean, Bobby and Castiel) where they all took turns mouthing off at this angsty teenager about why he should trust a bunch of complete strangers over those who made him promises.
Adam only wanted to work with the angels in order to stop Lucifer and return to his mother. Highlighting that this character had a sense of justice, responsibility, cared about doing the right thing but also had his own reasons for wanting to save the world.
Sam tried to emotionally manipulate Adam with excuses for why their dad never told him about his family. And actually had the gall to say that him and Dean would’ve looked for him had they’d known he existed so they could be a family. Forgive me if I just laugh at this for a moment 🤣
Zachariah was able to get into Adam’s head because he knew how vulnerable he was. Telling him that trusting the Winchesters would only let him down which *SPOILER ALERT* turned out to be true.
Zachariah tortured Adam for hours before the Winchesters arrived to save him. And Dean was only willing to submit to the angel when Sam was just briefly tortured.
One of the last things Dean says to Adam in 5x18 after he was shocked to see his half-brothers come to his rescue was “Cause you’re family”. Again I have to...🤣🤣
At the moment of their escape, Dean doesn’t even help Adam (WHO’D BEEN INJURDED AND TORTURED) out of the room nor does he care about ushering him to safety. Dean just grabs Sam and hurries out the door. So much for being part of the family.
The last thing Adam screams before before being possessed by Michael was “Dean, help!” and then he hears Dean say “Just hold on!”
Adam, not being Michael’s true vessel yet born from the powerful Winchester bloodline, was able to look directly at the archangel’s true form without his eyes burning out. And this is NEVER explained why.
Dean mentions Adam only a total of THREE TIMES after this happens in 5x19, 5x22 and 6x11 while Castiel mentions it to Sam in 5x21. And Sam, WHO’D BEEN THE MAIN EMOTIONAL MANIPULATOR, just doesn’t give a shit to remember him.
Castiel threw a Molotov cocktail at Michael (who was using Adam’s body) to briefly cast him out which Adam probably felt in excruciating detail based on what Michael says in 15x08.
Sam, possessed by Lucifer, pushed himself and his innocent half-brother possessed by Michael into the cage for all eternity.
Castiel somehow managed to pull Sam out of the cage but decided to leave Adam behind.
After Dean bargains with Death to get Sam’s soul and Adam out of the cage. Only to get just Sam’s soul and leave Adam to his fate. The issue is never brought up again between the Winchesters.
Adam sits a prisoner in a cage with an archangel for 10 years our time but thousands of years Hell time.
Michael most likely protected Adam from some of the horrors in Hell which is why he was able to keep his sanity.
Sam and Dean went to Hell to talk to Lucifer in the cage but continue to ignore Adam’s existence and don’t bother releasing him yet they let Lucifer escape.
Dean also went back to Hell to retrieve Bobby’s soul so he could go to Heaven and again doesn’t even bother with Adam.
Season 10 for Supernatural’s 200th episode, Sam and Dean were reminded by SPN fans putting on a musical that Adam was still in the cage yet THEY NEVER DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
Mary Winchester STILL doesn’t know about Adam even though she was reunited with John during the 300th episode. He’s never mentioned during their big family get-together. I guess he never counted.
Adam and Michael are finally set free of Hell only because Chuck threw a giant hissy fit at the Winchesters and opened all the gateways.
The first thing Adam wanted to do as a free man in 15x08 was not seeking revenge on his brothers for abandoning him, but to eat some diner food, change his clothes and get a “little job”
After years of imprisonment, Adam actually befriended the Prince of Heaven aka the one friend he has/the only other person besides his mother who actually gave a damn about him.
TFW trapped, kidnapped and imprisoned Adam and Michael at the bunker in order to force them to help against Chuck.
And Adam, though still angry, hurt and worn out over the situation; chose to help his brothers when there was NOTHING in it for him and successfully convinced Michael to do the same.
Despite how his brothers treated him, Adam STILL believed in their best and vouched that they “always try to do the right thing”
Adam went to Hell a cranky, sassy, angsty, naïve teenager and returned a kinder, wiser, more patient, humble and rational-thinking man who still managed to smile and laugh after enduring centuries of pain.
Dean gives Adam his much due apology for not saving him but Sam doesn’t. In fact Sam doesn’t even bring him up the next time the Winchesters see each other.
Adam’s last words on this show are to Dean and they’re “Since when do we get what we deserve?” and “Good luck” 🤓
Chuck Thanos-snapped Adam’s soul out of existence OFF-SCREEN yet Michael somehow remained in his body.
Adam was 90% of Michael’s impulse control hence why he was so dark in his last appearance without Adam because that’s the only way I can cope with that disgusting character assassination in 15x19
Jack supposedly revived Adam along with everyone else after becoming the new God. BUT his current status now reads “Unknown” instead of “Alive” so what the fuck am I suppose to think now?!
Sam and Dean didn’t even think about checking in on Adam to make sure he was okay before they hit the road on their last solo bro-outing.
If Adam really is alive then he’s doomed to a miserable, lonely existence without his best friend (who’s now dead). Broke, homeless, jobless; his brothers STILL DON’T GIVE A RAT’S ASS after he’d helped them in good faith. He’s legally deceased thanks to the ghouls. And he gets to look forward to demon city the moment he dies cause guess where he’s ending up?
No one remembers him even after he’d returned in 15x08
The car and the dog are more important to the Winchesters than their innocent half-brother.
Okay I realize I just unloaded a whole mountain of salt but this is the full outline of Adam’s tragic story on Supernatural. These writers never cared about him and why? What did he do to deserve this gross treatment from the show’s protagonists or just in general? Why was he even introduced if this was going to be the outcome of it all? I don’t know what’s worse leaving him in Hell (cause at least he had Michael for company) or bringing him back and not knowing what became of him after. It’s insufferable 😣 I just want everyone to know that the showrunners and writers may not care about him BUT I DO.

“Wonder Woman 1984” review:
Short review: It’s Tobey Maguire Spider-Man 2 but not as good. I give it a 7/10.
Long review: It’s kinda hard to describe my issues with this movie. I liked it...but I do agree with the critics that the writing was a bit off. Here, let me use an example from the movie as a way to describe the movie’s faults.
The movie opens with young Diana Prince in a competition with other Amazonians. She cheats near the end of the race, which gets her disqualified. She then gets a lecture about how she shouldn’t seek shortcuts in life. So, right off the bat, it’s established that the theme of the movie is that life isn’t easy and we shouldn’t seek shortcuts to get around our problems.
But as the movie goes along, the theme of shortcuts doesn’t really come into play for the main character arcs. Like, it’s somewhat correct because of the concept of wishes but I felt there was a disconnect between the young and adult Diana sections. For me, the actual themes of the movie were 1) that sometimes we need to give up the thing we want most in order to do what’s right and 2) that absolute power corrupts. It doesn’t matter if you’re a person with good intentions, like Max and Barbara, power and the pursuit of power will destroy you. That’s more in line with Diana, Barbara, and Max’s character arcs, as opposed to taking shortcuts. The opening is fine but it doesn’t feel like it connects with the rest of the movie, especially with adult Diana’s arc.
Even if you make the argument that taking shortcuts could also be another way of saying that seeking quick and easy solutions will corrupt your soul, that still doesn’t fit with Diana’s character. Diana doesn’t struggle with power corrupting her soul, her arc is more about the fact that she didn’t get closure with Steve Trevor and that she’s struggling to move on.
And therein lies my main issue with the movie; it’s overall well-made and the direction is competent. However, the writing feels off in places. That’s why the problems aren’t obvious; there’s nothing outright wrong with the movie, it’s just the writing itself feels weak.
Another example of where the writing was weak; the main plot itself. See, there wasn’t anything outright bad about the plot. The story is coherent and I wasn’t questioning the motives behind the characters actions. But the plot feels weak in substance, despite the coherent script. Wishes and the downsides of making wishes isn’t a bad idea but...it’s been done to death. Plus, it feels a bit lame that this is the story they chose to tell for Wonder Woman. You just have this feeling throughout the movie that the writers should’ve been more daring, or taken more risks.
Now I’m not saying this was a bad movie. It’s entertaining and I was fully invested in the plot. However, the movie just feels like it was lacking a certain spark. It feels like the makers just wanted to make something safe and passable, so they went with a story that’s been done before and they hit story beats that everyone’s familiar with.
Basically, anyone who has ever watched an episode of Fairly Oddparents will know how the plot develops, which isn’t a good sign.
Some other points I wanted to highlight:
1) I liked the orchestral callback to “Batman v Superman”, that was a nice touch.
2) The villains owned the movie. Pedro Pascal was brilliant as Max Lord and, honestly, he should’ve played Lex Luthor. Also, Kristen Wiig was great as Cheetah. You really felt sorry for her character but at the same time, her descent into villainy was well done.
3) Small point but the guy impersonating Ronald Reagan wasn’t that great.
4) Despite all my negative points, I will say that the climax was thrilling and well done.
5) Surprisingly not a lot of action for a superhero movie, which wasn’t a problem for me since I was enjoying how the drama was unfolding.
6) Steve Trevor was...okay. I get what the movie was going for with the theme of closure and moving on, but the movie didn’t give much for Chris Pine to do.
7) The special effects were lacking in some spots but I didn’t mind.
8) I know a lot of people hated the campy parts but I thought it was a cute throwback to the Silver Age of comics. Superhero stories used to be incredibly corny and campy, so I didn’t mind  the movie’s small moments of camp as references to the old comics.

S3 EP 1 : My fanmade gravity falls season 3 to fill the gap in my soul
[We see Dipper sleeping peacefully for 5 seconds, then Mabel pours water on his face]
Dipper: AH! Mabel! What the heck?!?
Mabel: Heheheh!
Dipper: What is so important that you have to wake me up with water?
Mabel: Duh! Mom said we can go to Gravity Falls this year!
Dipper: Wait, really?
Mabel: Yup!
Dipper: Aw yeah!
Both: Woohoo!
New Intro plays
[We see them getting off a bus]
Dipper: Wow! This place hasn’t changed a bit! I wonder if anyone is waiting for us..
Mabel: Well obviously! I texted Pacifica that we would be here!
Dipper: Wait what?
Pacifica (off-screen): Guys!
[We see her running on screen]
Pacifica: Why is the town border so far?
Mabel: Hi Pacifica!
Pacifica: Hi Mabel, hi Dipper.
Dipper: How long have you had Mabel’s number?
Pacifica: Since last summer.
Dipper: Oh.
Pacifica: If you're looking for your Grunkles, they're in the shack waiting for you. I think Stan is doing taxidermy? Never mind.
Mabel: Thanks for the instructions! Bye!!
[Mabel grabs Dipper's hand and runs off-screen.]
Pacifica: You’re welcome?
[Skip to Dipper and Mabel exploring town. Some townsfolk are waving at them]
Mabel: Wow! It hasn’t changed a bit.
Dipper: To be honest, this doesn't look like the kind of place that changes in a year.
Mabel: Look! It’s the path to the mystery shack!
Dipper: Oh, you're right!
[As they are running down the path, they bump into someone]
???: Hey! Watch it!
Dipper: Jeez, you don’t gotta be mean about it!
Mabel: Instead of fighting, let’s apologize and start over! I’m Mabel!
[Mabel offers her hand for a hand shake]
Ally: Well, my name's Ally.
[She shakes Mabel’s hand]
Ally: Lemme guess, you wanna go to the mystery shack?
Dipper: How’d you know?
Ally: Um, cause this is the path to it?
Dipper: I- touché.
Ally: Well, bye.
Mabel: Wait! Can we be friends?
Ally: ...Fine. But bye..
[Ally walks away]
Dipper: She was kinda shady…
Mabel: Not to me! Now let’s go!
[We see Ford and Stan in the shack. Stan is trying to make some sort of taxidermy]
Stan: Should we add antlers?
Ford: Why am I helping you?
Soos *yells offscreen*: Do not question his wisdom!
[Dipper and Mabel bust through the door]
Both: Hello!!
Ford: Hi kids!
Stan: Lemme just finish this-
[Ford knocks the taxidermy off the table]
Stan: NOOOOO!
Ford: You haven’t seen the kids in a year Stan please stop working on that stupid taxidermy.
Dipper: So what have you guys been doing for a year?
Ford: Just getting rid of nuisances, [Points at Stan] keeping him out of trouble.
Stan: Yeah, yeah, mock all you want!
Ford: I readied your bedroom for you.
[Upstairs with Dipper and Mabel]
Dipper: Wow! This bedroom still looks the same!
Mabel: Even the mold on the ceiling.
[Both shudder]
Dipper: Well, maybe we should ask anyone around about Ally?
Mabel: I mean, I guess?
[Skip to when they are in the gift shop. Wendy is at the counter with her feet on it.]
Wendy: I was wondering when you guys were gonna come down here!
Dipper: Oh, Hi Wendy!
Mabel: Hello!!
Wendy: Dipper, wanna do hat exchange for the Summer?
Dipper: Again?
Wendy: Well duh! Maybe we can do it every Summer!
Dipper: Well...ok!
[They exchange hats. Dipper gains his old hat back while Wendy gains hers back.]
Mabel: So, do you know anything about a girl named Ally?
Wendy: You mean that secretive girl? Yeah, she started appearing a month after you guys left last year. It’s odd that she has been living here since 1990! I think she was in a band once.
Dipper: 1990?! We didn’t see her at all!
Wendy: Weirdest part is, no one knows her. The only thing everyone knows about her is that she promised in 1990 to find something called, “The wolf’s curse”, which is something that terrorized them starting in 1980!
Dipper: I knew she was bad!
Mabel: Well, she did say she was gonna help the town.
Wendy: Ya know, she might be shady, but someone else in town knows who she is, and she said Ally is fine.
Dipper: Well it’s getting late, we’ll do more studying on her later.
Mabel: Bye!!!
Soos[Busts through the door and panting]: Wait!
Mabel and Dipper: Soos?!
Soos: Sorry I’m late, I was finishing something!
Dipper: Well, hi?
Soos: Hi dudes!
Wendy: Soos, you gotta stop being late.
Soos: *Chuckles* Ok! [Wait for 3 seconds] Wait, why is there taxidermy on the floor?
[Skip to Ally talking in front of someone. The person has light gray hair with a dark gray streak in her hair. She is wearing a white t-shirt and long jeans, along with sneakers]
Ally: We need to know who has the curse! It’s been years!
???: So? Maybe try finding the blue secrets book with SECRETS in gold?
Ally: I have been close to finding it…. Very well we start the hunt next week.
[Ally looks at the person with a devilish smile]
*Episode end*
End credits scene plays
[We see a shadow walking around the forest with yellow tea in a bottle for 7 seconds. They wait 3 seconds, then look at the screen for 2 seconds. Their black shadow is still present, with a body of 100% black tint, with white glowing eyes. The screen goes black.]

Flashbacks and Flapjacks
(Read on AO3 - It's sad in the beginning, but it gets funny and chaotic I swear! I had come up with this scene a while ago but was inspired to write it down by this post by @aelwynrights)
Summary: Adaine has a bad dream, the girls have a sleepover, chaos ensues. Also pancakes. Lots of burnt pancakes.
~~~
Adaine is in an orb. She looks out into a clearing in a dark, twisted forest. She’s been here before. She knows she has. She feels herself gasp for air, her lungs burning as if she hasn’t taken a breath in a while. The clearing is empty. As she realizes that she’s alone, two figures step out of the forest.
“Adaine! How nice of you to join us.”
Arianwen and Angwyn Abernant stand in the clearing. Arianwen sighs.
“Adaine, just tell us where your silly little friends are and this can all be over with.”
Adaine is filled with a deep sense of...not knowing. She feels her blood turn to ice in her veins.
“I...Even if I wanted to help you, which I don’t! But even if I did, I don’t...I don’t-”
“Oh, Adaine...you don’t know where they are?”
“Don’t twist this.”
“And you call them your friends?”
“Stop.”
“They don’t even trust you to know their plan.”
“Please!”
“I thought you were supposed to know all. Aren’t you-”
“Oh YES! Another Elven Oracle joke! Very funny, mother. Good job.”
“Don’t be rude, darling. It’s terribly unflattering. Regardless, it seems that you are no longer any use to us.” Arianwen turns to leave, her hand brushing Angwyn’s shoulder for a moment. “Do what you must, my love.”
Angwyn’s hands crackle with electricity. It’s so familiar...
“Adaine...I really tried to show you. I tried to help you. I really did. But it seems that you were too stubborn to even realize how truly deluded you are. The pain that you’re in is self-inflicted. If you had just listened. If you had just let us change you. We could have helped you. You could have been happy. But no. And now, you’ve left us with no other options. I am going to fix you. Goodbye Adaine.”
The orb is gone. Angwyn raises his hand. His magic surges towards Adaine. She can’t move. There’s no one else here. She is alone. Completely alone. There’s no one to stop him. The magic is only an instant away. Adaine squeezes her eyes closed, but all she sees is millions of futures of her body, dead on the ground. Alone, abandoned, unloved.
~~~
Screams rip from Adaine’s throat. She is sitting bolt upright in her bed, completely sweat-drenched. Someone is sitting on the end of Adaine’s bed, attempting to hold her forearms still, as Adaine thrashes, still screaming.
“Adaine? Adaine!” Aelwen looks completely panicked, searching Adaine’s face for any signs of possession or perhaps answers. Adaine can feel a dispel magic tingling in the air around her. She feels herself stop screaming as the sight of her sister reminds her of what had been missing in her dream. “Adaine, please...what’s...I...are you?”
Tears stream down Adaine’s face. She stops fighting and completely sags. Aelwen pulls her sister into the tightest hug she’s ever given. Adaine tucks her head under Aelwen’s chin, burying her face into her chest and sobbing. Adaine’s fists hold onto Aelwen’s shirt as if it was keeping her afloat. Aelwen’s breathing slows back to normal as she strokes Adaine’s hair.
“It’s ok. It’s ok. You’re safe. We’re safe.” Aelwen whispers into the top of Adaine’s head, her own tears of both panic and relief welling up.
The door to the tower slams open and a very concerned looking Jawbone rushes in, followed immediately by Sandra Lynn who has an arrow nocked, and is rather frantically scanning the room.
“Adaine, are you safe? We heard you scream and came running,” Jawbone walks to the edge of the bed and kneels down next to it. “What do you need?”
Adaine raises her head, gulping in air, and practically leaps into Jawbone’s arms. As Adaine leaves her arms, Aelwen pulls her knees to her chest.
Adaine mumbles into Jawbone’s fur, “I’m ok, I just had a nightmare,” She pulls back, wiping away tears, “I’m sorry I woke you up.”
Before Jawbone can answer, Fig bursts into the room, dragging a fully dressed, very panicked Ayda behind her.
“Adaine!” Fig gives her a quick, tight hug, before pulling back to carefully study Adaine’s face. “What happened? Are you ok?”
Ayda briefly takes a break from looking around the room wildly to also train her eyes firmly on Adaine. “Adaine, is there some sort of spectre or invisible being that you would like me to destroy?"
"No, it's ok. I just had a nightmare. I'm sorry."
Fig frowns deeply. "Don't apologize! I-"
Kristen finally appears in the doorway, breathing heavily.
"God, my room is so far away! Adaine, are you ok?"
“Yeah, it’s fine, I’m sorry.”
Sandra Lynn sighs, finally relaxing a little. “Why don’t we all give Adaine some space? It’s a small room, and there’s a lot of us.” She lowers her bow and puts a hand on Fig’s shoulder. “Adaine, why don’t we all go downstairs and I’ll make you a cup of tea.”
“Ok.” Adaine stands, and everyone starts to leave. Aelwen is still sitting on Adaine’s bed, knees still pulled to her chest, staring off into nothing. “Aelwen?” Her eyes snap to Adaine. “Are you coming?”
“Oh...do...do you want me to come?”
“Of course, but if you’d rather trance…”
“No, if you want me to come, I will.”
“Ok.” Adaine holds out her hand to her sister. Aelwen smiles shakily, takes Adaine’s hand, and they walk downstairs together.
Downstairs, Adaine sits down on the couch, Ayda lights the fireplace, Sandra Lynn puts a mug of herbal tea in Adaine’s hands. While everyone gathers in the center of the room, Aelwen hangs back in the doorway. Sandra Lynn sits down on a footrest across from Adaine.
“Look, Adaine,” She looks down at her hands. “I know that whatever you just went through, it was...less than fun. And I just want you to know that those dreams are normal.” She looks back up. “Well, not normal necessarily, but for adventurers, and you know, people who have been through some shit. It’s not uncommon. Obviously I trance, but I've seen it a lot, and even in trance, those feelings can still happen, and...I guess what I'm trying to say is that you’re not alone in this.”
“Yeah, I know that. It’s just...I feel stupid for even putting myself in that situation. I don’t have to sleep. I just keep reading all this stuff about the Oracle, and how often they chose to sleep because it helped them connect to their powers, but I don’t feel like it’s doing that for me. It’s just a lot of nightmares about the past. It feels like I’m doing something wrong.”
Jawbone speaks up, “Kiddo, I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way to go about this. You’re still really young. To compare yourself to people with centuries of experience, it’s not fair or productive. But you know, maybe bring this up with your therapist on Thursday, and see what she thinks about the pros and cons of letting yourself experience these dreams. Regardless, I don’t think worrying about the big picture stuff needs to happen tonight. Why don't you just try and relax and stay calm tonight, and we can talk about it more tomorrow, or not, if you don't want to."
"Yeah, ok. That makes sense."
Sandra Lynn stands up. "Alright, I have to go to work early tomorrow, so I think I'm going to go back to bed. I would recommend that all three, actually," She glances over at Ayda, "given that Ayda appears to be wearing the same clothes as yesterday, four of you try and get some sleep."
The girls all chorus affirmatives, and Sandra Lynn goes to leave. As she passes Aelwen, still hovering in the doorway, Sandra Lynn subtly squeezes her shoulder. Jawbone also goes to leave.
"Am I all set to leave, kiddo? It seems like the gals have got you covered." He ruffles Fig's hair.
"Yeah, I'll be ok. Thank you."
"Just doing my job, sweetheart." Jawbone kisses the top of Adaine's head. "I love you.”
“I love you too. Goodnight, dad.”
Jawbone’s eyes well up and he pulls Adaine into a tight hug. He stands back up and smiles at the girls. “Alright, try to keep the shenanigans to a minimum, ok?”
“Look, my guy, I don’t know what you’re trying to imply,” Kristen leans over the back of the couch grinning combatively at Jawbone, “but we are the reasonable ones.”
Fig laughs, “Yeah, we never get into shenanigans. That’s all on the boys.”
Jawbone smiles wryly “Uh-huh, goodnight, girls.”
He leaves to a chorus of “goodnight”’s.
“Ok!” Fig lies down with her head on Adaine’s lap and her legs sprawled across Kristen. “Soooo…” Fig looks up at Adaine. “I don’t want to push you, but do you want to talk about your dream?”
Kristen turns her body towards Adaine, putting her arm up on the back of the couch. “No pressure, but you know we’ll listen if you want to.”
“Oh, yeah, we can talk about it. It was about what happened to me in the Nightmare Forest.”
Fig’s eyes widen, “Oh, shit.”
“Yeah.”
Kristen sighs and nods, “I guess we never really talked about what happened to us.”
Fig sets her face resolutely, “Well, let’s talk now. We might as well. Fear is fake, right?”
Just then Ayda, who had been watching quietly from the floor pipes up. "Would you like me to leave?”
Adaine frowns, “Why would I want you to leave?”
“I thought perhaps you might want to only be with your friends.”
“Ayda, you’re my friend!”
“Right, yes, of course, you are my best friend.”
“You’re my best friend too!”
Wonderful. I meant the friends who were in the forest with you.”
“Oh, well, you were there too. We were all separated. Ayda, if you want to stay, I want you to stay.”
“It will make you feel better for me to stay?”
“Yes.”
“Then I will stay.”
“I’ll go first,” Fig offers, her face completely neutral, “I don’t mind.”
Adaine looks down at Fig, “Are you sure?”
“Yeah. I mean, I’ve told people before. Ayda and I have talked about it. Honestly, telling you guys will actually be a big step towards confronting those fears, so I might as well.”
“Ok. Yeah, I mean if you want to tell us, I think I’d like that.”
Fig sighs and closes her eyes, “Ok, settle in.”
As Fig begins to tell her side of the story, Adaine’s shoulders relax a little, as she’s comforted in her friends’ willingness to share, and from across the room, Aelwen notices this and slips back up the stairs to the tower.
The girls talk the night away, confessing the horrors they experienced in the forest. Fig cries when retelling how she saw herself in Ayda’s nightmare, Kristen has the group gasping when she tells them how she punched Helio, and in the first time Adaine has ever really told the group about what happened with her father, had everyone looking frankly murderous.
A deeply sad look crosses Kristen’s face. “I honestly think the worst part of it for me wasn’t losing my god or even my spells, although I will say that sucked because I felt like I had fucked everyone else over massively, but the real worst part for me was when Tracker found me. Because I know she was possessed and didn’t mean the things that she said, and we’ve talked about it, but when I went invisible she was screaming all these things about how I was selfish and how it was always about my faith journey and nothing was ever about her. I didn’t really have time to process it in the moment, but it cut deep, because she said it and I knew she was right. It is always about me. And you know, we talked about it for a long time, and obviously she’s off on her own now, but I have felt guilty about that, and I did ask her if she wanted me to go with her, and I guess I learned that we kinda have different ways of dealing with stuff like this. ‘Cuz she said no, and at first, that felt like a scary bad thing, but the whole reason I couldn’t go was because it has to be her thing. Like on my journey, I needed support, but her thing is that she really values her independence in a way that I’ve never really understood as someone who has always been a part of a close-knit community. But Tracker has been on her own for a long time, and she told me that although she liked supporting me on my journey, she needed me to support her from a distance because she needed the journey to be wholly her own.”
The girls nod somberly and Fig says, “Well, I think it takes a lot of trust to respect that decision, and I think you guys are doing really well.”
“Yeah, I know, it just makes me feel like I’m a bad partner for not seeing that she felt that way before. But we talk about that and her journey as much as possible, and we’re working through it together, so it’s ok. But yeah, that was the worst part for me. I just love her so much and the idea of me hurting her...” Kristen shudders.
Fig sighs, “I mean, it’s hard to pinpoint the worst part because it just hit all my deepest insecurities, but honestly, I think the worst part was mom shooting me. I know I played it off, but it sucked. I’m really insecure about my relationships with my parents still, and I’d already fucked up and gotten my dad stuck in a ruby again, and Gilear kept getting killed, and my mom and I were finally getting closer, and then she shot me and I KNEW it wasn’t her. Logically I knew that, but like...the way she said she was awake...it just felt so much like her. I just felt her ripping out my heart. But I know it wasn’t her. It was just the hardest part.”
“Weirdly enough the hardest part wasn’t my family stuff. I mean that stuff was so deeply painful, but I had been preparing for it for perhaps my whole life, but certainly for the whole trip. The worst part was confronting myself and confronting the idea of me being unloveable. Which obviously ties into the family stuff, but yeah. That was hard. Because that is truly what I most worry about, but I hate thinking about it, and up until that moment had tried to suppress those thoughts entirely.”
“Well, we love you, Adaine.” Fig reaches up to touch Adaine’s hands which have been gently stroking Fig’s hair, “And it’s so shitty that you had to go through that, and we all had our dark moments, but I hope you know that we’re here for you, and if you wanted us to we would kill your mom in a heartbeat.”
A laugh that clearly comes as a surprise to even Adaine bubbles up from deep within her chest, “Thank you, I know. I love you guys.” She glances over at Ayda, who is fully asleep on the floor.
Fig glances over too and smiles, wrinkling her nose, "She hadn’t gone to sleep. She’s been researching a new spell, and you know how she gets. It’s a mission to get her to even eat, but I will say I did manage it a couple of times, so I’m proud of that.”
Kristen nods, “That’s great. You two are so good for each other.”
Fig beams. “I know!”
The girls talk away the rest of the night, just rambling about everything. At some point, Fig and Kristen end up openly sobbing about how much they love their girlfriends. At another point, all three of them end up cry-laughing while recalling their first fight together, how horrifically executed it was, with Fig being out most of the fight, Kristen fully dying, and Adaine killing Doreen. One by one, they fall asleep, Fig first, then Kristen, and then finally Adaine decides to, at the very least, trance for a few hours.
Adaine comes out of trance to see Fig staring up at her.
Adaine raises an eyebrow and whispers down at Fig, “What?”
Fig grins and whispers back, not at all suspiciously, “...nothing.”
“You have never looked more up to something in your entire life.”
“I’m not up to anything!”
“Suuuurrreee, Fig.”
“I’m not! Let’s make breakfast!”
“What?”
“We should make pancakes for everyone!”
“I can’t cook.”
“Neither can I! It’ll be fun!”
Adaine glances over at Kristen who is slumped uncomfortably over the back of the couch and Ayda who is now fully curled up in a ball on the floor. She sighs and shrugs, “Fine!”
“Yessssss!”
The two of them extricate themselves from the couch and creep across the room to the kitchen.
“Where’s my crystal? I’ll look up a recipe.”
“No! We’re winging it!”
“What?”
“It’ll be more fun!”
“That’s not fun, Fig!”
“Yes, it is!” Fig starts pulling bowls out of the cupboards.
“Shhhh! You’re going to wake up Kristen!”
Fig grins and keeps pulling random things out. Adaine begins reluctantly helping. Cut to about thirty minutes later, both Fig and Adaine are covered in flour, have batter in their hair, and are sobbing with laughter. Fig knocks a spoon off the counter and it clatters loudly to the floor.
“Fig!”
Fig doubles over with silent laughter, “Sorry!”
Kristen stirs and looks up, groaning, “What the fuck?”
“Look, you woke up Kristen!”
“Noooo!!! The surprise!”
Fig and Adaine dissolve into hysterical giggles. Kristen looks over at the still sleeping Ayda and then back to the chaos in the kitchen. She sighs, rolls her shoulder and grimaces, and then stands up and walks over to the kitchen.
“Are you guys cooking?”
“Yes, Adaine and I,” Adaine snorts, “I haven’t even said anything yet! Adaine and I are making pancakes for everyone for breakfast.”
“I have honestly never seen either of you cook before, and this is fascinating. Why are you covered in flour?”
Fig sighs, “Look, Kristen, things happen…”
Adaine rolls her eyes and puts her hand in Fig’s face, “Fig exploded a bag of flour on us.”
“NO!”
“Yes!”
“It’s more complicated than that!”
“Ok!” Kristen sits down at the island, “Do you guys have coffee?”
“Yup!” Fig pours a cup of coffee and slides it across the island to Kristen.
“Did you spike this?”
“What?!”
“Figueroth Faeth,
“The Infaethable”
“Fig.”
“Kristen.”
Kristen sighs deeply, “Figueroth Faeth, The Infaethable, shoot me straight,"
“Mmhmm.”
“Did you spike this coffee?”
“No, Kristen, I’m not an alcoholic! It is six o’clock in the morning,”
“WHAT?!” Kristen looks at the clock on the microwave, “Fuck! No wonder you guys are acting stoned! You got what? An hour of sleep?”
“Kristen, I feel like you have a lot of anger that you’re directing towards me, and I’d like you to chill out. I didn’t spike the coffee and I got at least two hours of sleep.”
Kristen raises an eyebrow and glances behind Fig. “Your pancakes are burning.”
“What? No!”
“Fig! That is the tenth pancake in a row! Let me do it!”
“Back the fuck off, Adaine! You monopolized the batter making-”
“Monopolized?! You refused to use a recipe and exploded a bag of flour!”
“Why on earth would you not use a recipe?”
“That’s what I said!”
“It’s more fun this way!”
“Neither of you know how to cook! Also, if you don’t move that pancake you are going to burn the house down.”
“Fuck!” Fig frantically cleans up the pancake, and Adaine shakes her head.
“Fig PLEASE!”
“No!”
“Just please let me do the pancakes!”
“NO! I’ve got this! Hey, Kristen?”
“No.”
“Kristen!”
“Ok fine, Fig, what do you want?”
“Hypothetically,”
“Oh god…”
“No, hear me out! Hypothetically if I were to have put salt in the pancakes, how much would be a good amount?
“How much did you put in?
Adaine facepalms, “...we should have used a recipe.”
“It’s fine! Like only a...tablespoon?"
"A teaspoon or a tablespoon?"
Adaine, still rubbing her temples, "It was a tablespoon."
"Fig! That is so much salt!"
"I just...look, I feel like you're being really judgy and…"
"Judgy?!"
"Yeah!”
“You put a full tablespoon of salt in your fucking pancake batter, Fig!”
“Go to hell, Kristen, ok? Do you want to go? I’ll take you there. We can go right now! I let Bill Seacaster sell all my dad’s stuff, but I’m pretty sure the house is still there!”
“Yeah? You’re going to send me to hell?”
“Yeah!”
“I’ll bless water and throw it on you, bitch! I’m a saint!”
Adaine gasps, covering her mouth and doubling over, giggling. Fig’s jaw drops, “WOW!!!”
Adaine, still doubled over with laughter, hisses “Shhhhh!!!”
But it’s too late, Ayda stands up rubbing her eyes. “Fig? Are you alright?” She looks at the three girls in the kitchen and tilts her head to one side. “Why are you covered in...flour?”
“Kristen is threatening my life!”
Ayda squints, “Is this hyperbole?”
“NO!”
Kristen is laughing hysterically. Adaine pulls herself together enough to say to Ayda, “Technically, no. Kristen did threaten Fig’s life, although it is a bit of a question as to whether her threat would actually be effective. However, even if it would have worked, she was joking.”
“Um, I wasn’t.”
“Kristen.”
“I wasn’t joking! She threatened to send me to hell, I threatened her with holy water! It’s fair!”
“I am very confused as to what is going on.”
Fig says, much louder than she really should considering it’s six-thirty in the morning, “Honestly, me too, Ayda. This started as one thing, and now I feel like it’s completely devolved!”
“You devolved it! You’re the most chaotic person I’ve ever met! This was all you!”
“GUYS!” Everyone looks at Adaine, “We are going to wake everyone up.”
“Adaine, you’re right. This got out of hand, and I-”
Kristen takes a sip of coffee and cuts Fig off, “Aaaannnd, that’s another burnt pancake.”
“WHaT?!” Fig whirls around and starts attempting to save the pancake, “Fuck! Warn me next time, Kristen! God!”
Adaine buries her face in her hands. “Fig, please let me do it.”
“No, I have everything under fucking control!”
“You clearly don’t.”
“Shut up, Kristen!”
Ayda looks even more confused and says, “You have answered none of my questions, and in fact, have only created more.”
Kristen sips her coffee and pats the stool next to her. “Yeah, welcome to the club, Ayda. Have a seat. Do you want some coffee?”
Fig turns back around from the pancakes and points at Ayda, “Ayda, do not sit next to my MORTAL ENEMY, Kristen Applebees!”
Adaine bursts back into laughter, “Mortal Enemy?”
Kristen snorts and says, “Yeah, hold up, Fig, I thought your mortal enemy was Fathethriel.”
“Oh fuck…” Fig looks at Adaine. “Can you have more than one mortal enemy?”
“I wouldn’t know. I’m immortal so technically all my enemies are technically immortal enemies.”
“What? I…” Fig sighs, “Ayda, can you have more than one mortal enemy?”
Ayda considers this, “That is certainly an interesting conundrum, but technically I am also immortal, so I suppose I don’t know either.”
“Ok, well, I guess if I have to pick one of you to be my mortal enemy, I guess it’s Fathethriel.”
Adaine giggles harder. Fig glares over at Adaine. “Why is that funny, Adaine?”
“I just...I feel like you hate Fathethriel a little more than he deserved…”
“No! That guy sucked!”
“I know, but-”
“He was an asshole to Ragh, and he tricked me! He’s terrible!”
“I know, but I just think maybe he doesn’t deserve mortal enemy status…”
Fig and Adaine start arguing about whether Fathethriel is the embodiment of evil, and are really starting to get into it when Kristen starts interrupting.
“Fig.”
Fig ignores Kristen.
“Fig.”
Adaine glances over at Kristen but Fig continues to ignore her.
“Fig!”
“What?!”
“Pancake.”
The pancake is very burnt and is almost smoking. Fig fully yells at the top of her lungs, “DAMN IT!!!”
Adaine grabs Fig’s arm. “Fig! SHHHH!!!”
There’s a light popping sound and Aelwen teleports into the kitchen looking panicked. “Is...are...is everyone ok?”
Fig slaps a hand over her mouth. Adaine groans and says, “Yeah, we’re all fine, Fig’s just being chaotic.”
Fig grimaces and whispers, “I’m so sorry.”
Kristen, starting to look genuinely concerned, pipes up again, “Fig that pancake is about to go up in flames.”
“Shit!”
Aelwen sighs, visibly relaxes, and then turns to leave again. “Ok, well that’s good. I’ll leave you to it.”
Adaine immediately stops glaring at Fig and turns to her sister. “You can stay if you want! We have pancakes and coffee.”
“Oh...well if you want me to stay…”
“Please do.”
“Ok.” Aelwen tentatively sits down at the island next to Ayda.
Kristen slides a cup of coffee across the island to Aelwen and raises an eyebrow at Adaine. “So which burnt pancake are you going to force your sister to eat?”
Adaine begins picking through the stack of blackened pancakes. “No, I'm pretty sure there's a couple of salvageable ones."
Adaine finds a passable pancake and gives it to Aelwen. Aelwen takes a bite of the pancake and although she doesn't make a face she does seem to struggle to swallow a little. She smiles and nods at Adaine. “It’s not bad.”
Kristen leans forward to look across Ayda at Aelwen. “It’s not?”
Aelwen looks back at Kristen completely neutrally. “No, it’s not.”
Before Kristen can say anything else, Fig looks over apologetically at Aelwen. “I really am sorry I freaked you out, Adaine and I were just talking about the asshole that helped you escape in Fallinel, and I got really mad.”
Aelwen doesn’t typically show a lot of emotion around anyone except Adaine, but at that, she visibly cringes. “I’m very sorry about that whole situation. I stole your father.”
“Oh, yeah. You did.”
“I’m sorry.”
“It’s ok, honestly I was more upset about how he used Ayda to trick me because yeah, it sucked losing my dad and I did feel awful about that but also like...I’d already fucked up with my dad by putting him in that gem in the first place, and what was happening with Ayda was new and good, but you didn’t have anything to do with what he said, that was all him. So yeah, I appreciate the apology, but we’re good.”
“Ah, I see. Well, I’m still very sorry for whatever mental anguish I put you through, be it directly or indirectly in Fallinel.”
“Um, thanks.”
There’s an extremely awkward silence, just five teenage girls around a kitchen island surrounded by the smell of burnt pancakes and the unsavory memories of the past.
This intense moment of introspection is shattered by the screech of the fire alarm.
Everyone jumps, Adaine even screams a little, and before anyone can even process what’s happening, Aelwen shoots a Ray of Frost across the island, seemingly at Fig. Fig manages to jump out of the way, and the Ray of Frost hits and freezes the pan with a completely black, heavily smoking pancake in it.
“My apologies, Fig. The pancake was on fire.”
“Um, it’s fine! How do you turn off a fire alarm?”
Adaine whirls around, “I don’t know!”
Kristen gets up from the island and starts opening windows. “Sandra Lynn is going to KILL us.”
Fig groans, “I know!”
Adaine is still looking around, wide-eyed, “I told you this was a bad idea. You should have let me do it.”
Ayda is standing just outside the kitchen looking up at the wall and grimacing. “I think I have found where the noise is coming from.”
Fig looks over, “Really?”
“Yes, should I destroy it?”
“No, no, no!” Fig runs over, “There should be a button you can push.” She points up at the alarm, “There!”
Ayda reaches up, wings lifting her up off the ground slightly, and she turns off the alarm.
Everyone relaxes, and for a moment there is calm.
“What the FUCK is going on down here?!”
The girls all whip around to see Sandra Lynn standing in the doorway, bow readied, looking frankly murderous. Before anyone can answer, Jawbone appears in the doorway with a fire extinguisher.
“Where’s the fire?”
Kristen is the first to be able to speak, and says, “There’s no fire! There’s no fire! Aelwen put it out! Everything is fine!”
“Everything is fine seems like a bit of a stretch, gang,” Lydia Barkrock appears in the doorway, arms folded, but looking more amused than anything else. “Not going to lie, there’s a lot of smoke, and everyone is covered in flour, but you know, no fire is good for sure.”
Sandra Lynn sighs and puts down her bow. “Ok, help me understand what happened here. Because it is seven am, and the goddamn fire alarm just went off.”
Sandra Lynn looks at the girls with such authority and power, that immediately Adaine and Kristen say, in unison, “It was Fig!”
Fig gasps dramatically, looking extremely offended, “Guys! What the fuck?”
“Fig…”
“Mom.”
“What are you doing?”
“I wanted to make breakfast for everyone!”
“Fig, sweetie, you have never cooked anything in your life.”
“I know! But you have to start sometime! I’m going to be an adult soon…” Sandra Lynn snorts, but Fig continues, offended, “I AM! So anyway, I thought today was the day!”
Adaine holds a plate out to Sandra Lynn, “Do you want one?”
“No thank you, Adaine.”
Kristen looks at them, “Are you sure? They used a completely normal amount of salt in it.”
“You know what, Kristen, I’m good. But why don’t you eat it? A completely normal amount of salt? How about you have some?”
There’s a moment of tension and silence as Sandra Lynn and Kristen stare down. Jawbone smiles a little and goes to put away the fire extinguisher, and Lydia snorts and comes into the kitchen.
Kristen finally breaks eye contact and grabs the plate “You know what, I will eat it. We shouldn’t waste food. You know, the swamps…”
“Yeah, for sure.”
Kristen takes a bite of the pancake and manages to chew it twice before dropping the plate on the counter and running over to the trash, immediately spitting it out. “Oh my god! That’s fucking poison!” She turns around on Fig and Adaine. “There is so much more wrong with that than the salt! What the fuck did you do?” She pauses, realizes something, and then turns to Aelwen. “How the fuck are you eating this?”
“It’s not...it’s fine.”
“It’s inedible!”
“I…”
Jawbone walks over and puts a hand on Aelwen’s shoulder. “You know, you don’t have to eat something just to be polite. You’re allowed to say no.”
Aelwen glances around for a second, and then visibly relaxes, “Oh, thank god.” She grabs her coffee and swishes it around her mouth. She looks at Adaine pleadingly, “I’m so sorry.”
Adaine gasps, “Why did you eat it if it was gross?”
“I just...I don’t know, Adaine. I don’t know how to be a normal person.”
Kristen nods, “You know what, though, I don’t think any of us do. We’re all pretty traumatized.”
“Right, my apologies, I don’t know how to be a kind person.” There’s a moment of silence as everyone looks at Aelwen. “I don’t! I’m working on it, but I don’t know. I don’t know where the line is. Saving your little sister, stopping the Nightmare King, they may not be easy to do, but it’s easy to say that they’re good. They’re moral. But what’s kind? In the tiny little everyday moments? I don’t know how to find that.”
Adaine stares her sister in the face, “Yet. You don’t know how to find it yet.”
Jawbone smiles, “That’s very true, Adaine. Now, everyone is awake, so why don’t we clean up the kitchen and make some actual food.”
Lydia nods, “Yeah, do you kids want to know how to actually make pancakes? Because I’ve got a killer recipe if you want it.”
Fig looks over at Sandra Lynn. “Mom?”
Sandra Lynn sighs, “If you clean up and promise to follow what Lydia says, yeah. Fine.”
Kristen grins, “Oh, you don’t want to help?”
“I’ll shoot you straight, Kristen, I never really made breakfast. That was always Gilear.”
“I’m sorry, turkey crackers and yogurt guy?”
Fig’s jaw drops, “Kristen! We don’t talk about the turkey crackers!”
“I will never stop talking about the turkey crackers!”
Adaine nods sagely, “The turkey crackers were gross.”
Fig glares at Adaine, “You didn’t even EAT them! Also, he was trying his best!”
“The idea of them was gross.”
Kristen jumps in, “They were also actually gross.”
“ALRIGHT! I have no idea what you’re talking about, but I feel like whatever the context is, the problem might have been a lack of resources over anything else.”
“Tell ‘em, mom!”
“Ok, Fig, just...chill out for a sec. Gilear is a good cook, and I feel like maybe that time where you all were living at Strongtower wasn’t the best reflection of that, but I also think maybe let’s table this conversation, get everything cleaned up, and eat something, because I feel like I’m losing my mind.”
Kristen pulls herself together. “You know what, she’s right. The vibes got weird.”
Adaine rolls her eyes, “The vibes always get weird.”
Lydia laughs, “You’re teenagers! It’s in the job description. Now, let’s make some pancakes!”
