There's been something I've been thinking about for a while now with how fandom wank has grown into a monster that has begun to hurt more and more people in very real ways and one of those topics (only one. I want to say that because there are SO many factors that go into social politics in general and I can't speak for ALL of them. So please don't come in here with 'well what about-' No. I'm only talking about this single one.)

There's been a lot more talk about adults (I would say 20+ as far as that goes) reading/writing fanfiction that is based on teens/young adults (13-14 to 19-20) and how it's obviously a bad thing somehow and that is how people know you're a p/do or know you're a bad person somehow.

And I want to say something that I haven't really heard anyone talk about before but what it really feels like to me is going on.

Most often (I say most often because there are always going to be bad people in every demographic. You cannot take a group of people and find that everyone in that group are 100% good people. That's just how life is and it's up to you to keep yourself safe and learn how to set boundaries.) people are just...people. They are nuanced and layered and have have varying arrays of trauma and issues that they too go through their own life. There's culture and family environments that are different and depending on the age you are, your life experiences are going to be different too.

The life experience part is what I want to really talk about as far as Fandom goes. When adults (20+) read/write fiction about Teens/Young Adults (13-20), most often the reason isn't about them being a teen that is the main desire of reading/writing. The main desire is to read about First Experiences.

And what I mean by first experiences is that as you grow up, you experience firsts in your life that once experienced, you will never get that same feeling as the first time.

You can fall in love many times, but there's nothing like that first love, that first experience of falling head over heals for the crush you have who you fear to talk too because you might make a fool of yourself. That first experience of stepping foot out into the real world and feeling like this is your oyster. The first experience of sneaking away with friends or doing something taboo while your heart beats rapidly in your chest because it's fun.

For me specifically, those are the feelings I'm looking to get when I write/read stories about these younger characters. Sure, you can write a 25 year old who never fell in love before, but there comes a baggage with age that you don't have as a teen. With age, that 25 year old character who's never had sex or never fallen in love before gets a stigma placed on their shoulders by society. They grow insecurities that teens don't experience until their grown.

There's a layer of outward influence that gets placed on adults as they get older and hit different stages in their lives that things no longer effect you the same way as they would before, as they would if you were still fresh minded and unaffected by the needs of adulthood.

It's not about their age, it's just about the way you can experience things at that age that's different and nostalgic.

Body swap movie where one of them has invisible disabilities and when the other one lands in their body they immediately collapse catatonic on the floor from the pain and fatigue and the first one is like 'oh damn guess I don't have to worry that I'm faking it anymore'

so hellena taylor almost definitely misrepresented her situation with platinum and this has definitely harmed discussions on wage pay for voice actors. this is honestly a really heavy blow but this does not change the fact that voice actors are still being mistreated in the industry: Mob Psycho 100s english voice for Mob isn't going to be returning because Crunchyroll refused to sit down with Union representatives , and the voice actor for Breath of the Wild's Revali said he made more from voicing a character in an indie game than his roles in Breath of the Wild. I encourage you all to read into the way voice actors are treated and to not let this incident paint over this industry wide problem.

papa bakugo and the thought that he intently raises his kids in ways to be unlike him.

and when they're older, asking serious questions about parenting like: why did you make sure we were friends with everyone on the playground? why did you always have to step away when you were mad? how come you don't like us seeing videos of you when you were younger?

he tells them it's because he never wanted them to turn out like him—that leading by example has always been more effective, and he wasn't exactly the best example back then. still doesn't feel like he is now but he's trying (at least, that's what you say, and it must count for something).

and his kids are confused because what does he mean he isn't the best example? all they want is to be like him.

they want the same fire, the dedication he puts in day in and day out; how he only ever gives his best and never backs down. one of the greatest lessons they've learnt from their papa is that a promise is a promise and you deliver on it. no matter what.

they want the same balance he's achieved, making time for both work and his family but especially his family—how they've never once felt second in his life; how he's managed to show up to every game, every performance like the superdad he is. and even when he doesn't make it for the entire thing, you can bet he's rushing in, all soot-covered and polo unbuttoned with the base of his suit underneath.

(you never told your kids, but on katsuki's 14th father's day, you held him while he cried, tears of relief from his eyes. he was watching their surprise, a day-in-the-life reenactment video of pro-dad bakugo katsuki, starring the kids and you).

they want to love the way he loves them, the way he loves you—attentive and all-in because bakugo katsuki never half-asses anything. he adds personal touches to each plate of breakfast he cooks: bear pancakes for his little girl, egg done scrambled and another sunny-side up for his two boys. and you always insist on having what he's having because you don't want to add to the hassle, but he knows your signature morning drink and serves it right by the plate beside his, always yours.

you always tell him that having your kids turn out like him now is all you could ever want, and he always scoffs, tuts and laughs like it can't possibly be true. but maybe if your kids tell him now, that they want to be just like their papa, he'll believe it—all the good in him that everyone sees but he can't seem to.

you hope he doesn't see it as a bad thing—that his kids have grown and chosen to in the shape of him.

cass cain is so emotive and I hate that so many of yall fall straight into the stoic asian woman stereotype thing because like, the only reason cass wouldn't vocalize a feeling is when she would struggle to find the word for it because she literally wasn't taught how to speak. that's so fucking upsetting.
