for those kills, he takes michael's mask. i think he takes the mask to feel like the people that hurt him are getting the worst punishment -- he wants to deal out the worst of the worst for them, and how better to embody that than to become michael. michael who has had a crushing grip on this town for years, the one person everyone is unanimously afraid of.
but then i also feel like he wears the mask for those killings to fulfil a tiny part of him that always wanted someone to come and save him. he'd been waiting a long time for this higher power, be it his dad, god, his soulmate, fate or anyone, to save him (because surely things have to get better, right?!) and it never came.
but now he is that higher power -- he gets to play god (or play michael, the closest thing to god he's ever found) -- and he's going to save himself. he's going to destroy everything that ever hurt him, if it's the last thing he ever does.

Reunion and Volley ball || Song of a Nightingale Pt.4
Author's note : English is not my mother tongue, I am french but I wanted to try to write in English so here we are ! (Don't hesitate to tell me about the errors…)
Pairing : Mitchell! OC x Rooster, mention of Kazansky! OC x Hangman, mention of OC × Iceman
Summary : Two years after the uranium mission, Maverick enjoys his new life. Working on his plane, drinking beer at the Hard Deck, building a limpy little family with Penny and her daughter, Rooster, his WSO's son and Blizzard, his wingman's and old friend's daughter. 
Everything change the day he got a call which announces the existence of a 26 years daughter.

Maverick and Allyson spent the weekend together. Ally was a pretty good guide. She made him visit some beautiful spot, the kind of spot that only someone that grew up there knew. 
They talked a lot about everything. She took him to her favorite motorcycle store. They talked about their common passion. 
Maverick was amazed about how it was easy to talk with Ally. She was always enthusiastic, curious about everything. He was very nervous about meeting her. But everything looks natural for her. Days after days, Maverick became less and less nervous and enjoyed more and more of the time spent with her. 
Her favorite things were walking and the beach. At the moment they put a foot on the sand, Ally took off her shoes and dipped her feet in the warm sun. Maverick smiled at her. She looked at him, smiling. “There is nothing better than walking barefoot in the sand !”. Saying that she ran towards the ocean and walked in the waves. Maverick smiled wider. Her joy was contagious. 
And then Tuesday was there. The funeral’s day. Allyson was with some friends of her mother and family before the ceremony. Pete and she agreed that he rejoined her at the cemetery. 
Alyson stayed with her aunt. When she started crying Mav, who was some rank behind, wanted to walk through the crowd and take her in his arms.
But he didn’t know if it was what she wanted and he didn’t want to embarrass her in front of her family. 
After the funeral, Ally took her father for a walk. Even though Pete was glad to spend time with her, he didn’t want her to feel obligated to stay with him. “If you want to stay with your family it’s fine for me.” He said. “I can spend one day alone.” 
Ally shook her head. “I don’t want to be with them. You saw them cry but they are just hypocrites. They all judged my mother when she got pregnant and she decided to raise me on her own. I think they are upset to see you with me. But I don’t care. You are more interested in me in four days than they dis in twenty six years.”
There was no anger in her voice. She spoke as if she just said a simple truth. Maverick looked at her, took her hand and took her to the beach. When they arrived at the edge of the sand, Pete let go of her hand and leaned forward. He took off his shoes and rolled up his pants. Ally giggled with surprise and imitated him. 
Maverick felt proud to have managed to make her smile. The rest of the week passed on a wink. And then it was the day for Pete to come back to California. Goodbye at the airport was heartbreaking. But they promised to each other to stay in touch.

It’s Penny that picked him at the airport. He was happy to see her again, he missed her. But his heart was still heavy at having left his daughter in Australia. They didn’t know each other for a while, but Allyson has already become one of the most important people in Maverick’s life. 
When Penny saw her boyfriend look, she immediately understood his feeling. She took him in her arms with a sweet “Oh, Pete.” 
She brought him back home where Amelia and Kat were waiting for him. As it was foreseen, Rooster and Hangman were back on mission. 
The girls welcomed him and they talked about his trip all day and the evening. Pete told them everything about Ally. How she looks, how she speaks, how she dresses, some stories she told him about her childhood, her wish to work as a mechanic. His face lit up when he talked about her. 
Penny and Kat glanced at each other, smirking. He was talking like a true father.

Pete didn’t expect a reunion so soon. But about a week after he came back, during a call, Allyson asked him if he minded if she spent some days in California. Maverick’s smile became wider. He couldn't wait to announce it to Penny so he ran towards the Hard Deck and as soon as he was near her, he told her. 
Ally arrived Friday evening. Pete picked her at the airport. When she saw him she ran toward him and jumped in his arms, almost causing him to fall. They laughed together and Ally kept talking all the way to her father’s house.  
Penny and Amelia were waiting for them. Kat had the duty to accompany Phoenix to a Party. “She is my Wingman.” Kat apologized. “She’s got the power to make me kill on a mission.”
When Pete introduced Ally, she immediately hugd Amelia then Penny. She looked at Penny. “You are much more beautiful than I thought !” Penny replies with a smile. “Thank you. You are beautiful too.” Ally giggled.
The rest of the night was full of smiles, stories and laughs. Pete’ heart grew up with love by seeing this family which took him so much time to have.
After dinner,they stayed talking in the living room. Penny sat in Pete’s arms until their two daughters literally fell asleep. Mav had to carry both of them to their room. While he was edging Allyson,he told himself that he could easily get used to this life.

Top Gun Fightertown, 1986
All class members were gathered at the volleyball court. The atmosphere was electrifying. And for good reason : the match was between Maverick/Goose and Iceman/Slider. Storm was the only girl in the stands. Maverick wasn’t focused. She could see it. He was watching his clock all ten second and he sped up the match. Despite this Goose and Maverick led the game. 
Maverick finally left. Goose begs him to stay even for one game. But Maverick didn’t want to hear anything. Storm came closer, smiling. “She has to be really pretty.” Maverick looked at her. “What do you mean ?” 
“The woman you’ve got a date with. She has to be really pretty to make you abandon Goose.” 
Maverick looked at Storm and smirked. If she knew him as much as she knew herself, he knew her as much as he knew himself. “Prettiest than Iceman.” And before Storm could reply, Maverick went away.
Storm turned around and ran to Goose, her ponytail swinging at each step. Goose sigh of relief seeing her. “Thank god I’ve still got someone I can count on !”
Iceman and Slider looked at her. “You want to play with us, Storm ?” asked the taller pilot. “It’s a problem for you, Slider ?” She replied, raising an eyebrow. “Afraid to lose against a girl ?” It was Iceman who answered. “But you’re not a girl. You’re a pilot.”
Storm tried to ignore the butterflies in her stomach. He didn’t consider her like a girl. And it was not an insult. He saw her as a pilot, as his equal. 
She pulled herself together and went on her side of the court. In her way, she took off her Tank Top, revealing her colorful bikini top. There were few whistles, Slider gasped like a fish and even the cold Iceman couldn’t hide the blush on his cheeks.
Perhaps she was a pilot, but she was a damn beautiful woman too.

Natalie, She/Her, Pansexual. 28- Compassionate leader of a group of survivors after the emergence of the Roots. Tries her hardest to help out and rescue other people. Is strong and affectionate
Serena, she/her, lesbian. 16- young, but intelligent girl. She's self taught in first aid and basic medicine and has an insatiable sense of curiosity and always yearns to learn. Very sweet.
Ava, She/Her, Trans lesbian. 17- a young winged folk, she's had a difficult life due to discrimination and bigotry as a trans girl and struggles with her identity. Protective and quiet.
Daniel, He/Him, just some guy, 22- The next in line to a Magnolian noble family, due to his sister refusing to be the heir. Smart and caring, but a fair bit egotistical. Shares a love for the environment and nature like his father before him.
Clover, She/Her, Bi and Ace, 25- Daniel's sister, a usually shy and reserved women, she's an exceptional sharpshooter and participated in many marksmanship competitions. Very sympathetic and most find her a joy to be around. Absolutely smitten with Valerie.
Dr Bennett, They/Them, Ace, 30.- A researcher in ecology and biology, they've taken an interest to the Roots and the Shadows that came with them, studying their behaviors and trying to find ways to keep people safe from them. They're eccentric but well regarded as both a friend and asset.
Alex, He/they, gay, 27- Childhood friend of Natalie's. A doctor but not a fighter, he dedicates his work currently to stitching up and taking care of the survivors Natalie rescues.
Michelle, She/her, Bi, 18- Childhood friend of Serena's, once a very kind and loving friend. After the loss of most of her friends, along with months of isolation, has become extremely bitter and hateful. Blames Serena for the death of Samantha, a girl she was in love with but whom Serena was dating at the time.
Kellam, he/him, just some guy round 2, 17- Childhood friend of Serena. Chivalrous and kind, he aspired to be a knight of Magnolia when he was an adult. Got separated from his friends during the emergence of the Roots. Protective of his only 2 remaining friends, but hates seeing what Michelle had become and tries to help her.
Pokemon OCs
Lavinia (Pokemon Desolation), she/her, lesbian, 19. An energetic and theatric young women who loves the dramatic. Very flirtatious with girls and prefers to be an optimist. Preference in bug types, but uses several types of Pokemon, an Ariados is her signature.
Anya (Pokemon Rejuvenation), She/They, Bi and Ace, 18 (chapter 1) - 19 (Chapter 15, current). A shy and quiet young women who used to live in the pre-Meteor ruined Reborn region before dying in an accident. Brought back as the Interceptor in the Aevium region 15 years later. Very shy due to a childhood of bullying from her peers, and horribly unconfident in her own abilities, she perseveres regardless. They're a Grass and Ground specialist, and her ace is a crested Delcatty.
Allyson (Pokemon Reborn), trans lesbian, 22- An outwardly warm, but somewhat meek person who loves music, and wants to master her battling skills. While she hates the idea of killing and refuses to, she is however, inclined for violence on terrible people. A dragon type and dragon adjacent (see serpent like Pokemon along with species like Charizard and Tropius) specialist, her ace is a Steelix.

30 Day Poetry Writing Challenge, Day 2
2. Where is home to you? Tell about a location or people you feel the most comfortable around. Paint a picture with words, capture what you see and feel. 
Coming Back by Achillean Femme
Burning pine needles have a very distinct smell.
Their smoke is a light gray and
As you watch it twist and twirl in the autumn air
It is easy to get lost in its dance and minty aroma.
I still remember the time that I hit my cousin Allyson
In the neck with a very large pine cone.
It was quite literally a softball-sized pine cone.
I was about 15 
And had borrowed my grandmommy’s clamping arm
That she used to grab cans out of the upper cabinets 
In her kitchen when she couldn’t lift her arms very well above her head
Because she was going through radiation treatment
For her cancer that had come back for the third time.
She had passed about a year prior.
Anyways, 
So I had borrowed the clamping arm 
And was running around the yard outside her house 
With my cousins Zeke, Savannah, and Allyson.
I picked up one of the large pine cones that was lying on the ground
With the clampers
And began to spin around whimsically with it
(Because I have always been a fairy princess).
Suddenly, the pine cone ripped out of the grasp of the clamper
And hit my cousin Allyson squarely in the neck
With a loud thwack!
I was mortified 
And apologized profusely.
She didn’t talk to me for like 2 hours.
Then 6 of my cousins, including Allyson, my sister, and I 
Decided to play a board game on my grandmommy’s 
Golden-colored wooden kitchen table
As we had done countless evenings prior.
We cackled over silly stories from years past.
Like the time that we almost set grandmommy’s house on fire
Burning a mountain of pine needles that we had raked up in the yard
And set ablaze in the burn pit
On a particularly windy afternoon.
She was rightfully really mad when that happened.
I can still see us frantically rushing buckets of water 
Back and forth
From the water hose faucet outside 
To the site of the growing fire
Desperately trying to put it out as it 
Kept fighting to come back.
But if she were with us on that night that I hit Allyson 
In the neck
With the giant pinecone,
I think that she would have cleaned Allyson’s wounds,
Applied some neosporin or iodine to the injured area,
Given her a kiss,
Given me a smile and a wink as she passed me 
Waiting nervously in the hallway on the red carpeted floor,
And beamed with joy for the rest of the night as we played games
Around her golden-colored wooden kitchen table.

HALLOWEEN ENDS: Satisfying, Complex Conclusion to the Halloween Saga

With David Gordon Green's Halloween Ends--the story which began in 1978 with the release of John Carpenter’s terrifying, suspenseful Halloween--comes to a satisfying conclusion. 
The end of the revitalized Halloween trilogy which began in 2018 with the new sequel to the original film, explores Laurie Strode’s (Jamie Lee Curtis) journey to live her life away from the constant fear of Michael’s inevitable return time and time again. 
Halloween Ends examines how the presence of evil lived within Michael now roams free and permeates every corner of Haddonfield–living in the subconscious of every resident, leading to disastrous accidents sparked by the fear of Michael being around every corner. The evil spreads its way through the town, impacting how everyone lives with the constant fear of the boogeyman's return. 
Halloween Ends is a great conclusion to this story of Laura and the evil she fights against throughout her life. The film asks: Will Laurie finally find some peace and quite–some time to truly live her life? 
Complex, Believable Performances 
Halloween Ends gives us everything we could hope for in this final installment. We see glimpses of our favorite final girl having a moment to catch her breath. Jamie Lee Curtis gives an amazing performance which explores how Laurie has grown as a person.

Seeing a character we have watched throughout the Halloween franchise fight for her life–and the lives of her loved ones–stand up and let pent up emotions out in the open, is cathartic and freeing. Jamie Lee Curtis's performance is exhilarating as a character who finally has had enough and releases all the emotions she has been keeping inside. 
Halloween Ends boasts challenging, captivating performances of complex, well-written characters who question their life as well as the history and overpowering pull toward evil in their hometown.
Andi Matichak returns as Allyson–who now lives with her grandmother Laurie Strode. Halloween Ends explores her character more intimately–examining how growing up in this family–and Haddonfield–has impacted who she is and what she wants out of her life. 
One of the standout performances in Halloween Ends is Rohan Campbell as Corey Cunningham–a young Haddonfield resident- who comes under fire from the town after a mysterious and deadly night. 
Campbell brings the complexity of his character to the foreground. We see Corey as an awkward, but well-meaning kid, trying desperately to deal with how the evil of Haddonfield permeated his subconscious during that fateful night. Corey’s accident, which begins the film, highlights how Haddonfield residents are always looking over their shoulder, waiting for the worst to happen–waiting for Michael’s return, even when he’s nowhere to be seen. 
Throughout the film, Corey tries to handle the outcome of that night, leading to a complex and challenging role which Rohan Campbell portrays perfectly from every angle. 
Gore and Creative Kill Scenes
Halloween Ends does not skimp on gory and intense kill scenes which harken back to the suspense which made us all fall in love with this iconic horror franchise with Carpenter’s 1978 horror classic. 
The horror of Halloween Ends erupts beautifully from well-crafted suspense and a dark, gritty atmosphere capturing how evil seeps into Haddonfield. 
The cinematography throughout Halloween Ends captures both the darkness of the holiday along with the joy of costume parties–and the warm, yet menacing glow of jack o' lanterns.

The visual world of Halloween Ends all bursts from one central location–which helps create a lived-in and scary world where we expect to see Michael Myers emerge from the shadows at any moment. The bridge–which was filmed in Sylvania, Ga–used within the film acts as a hub for the town’s evil as well as the film’s strong visual tone.

Halloween Ends builds suspense beautifully from its opening scene and continues throughout all of its kill scenes–which are both brutal and creative. Every moment of gore builds from an overwhelming sense of suspense, and utilizes the atmosphere and location of each moment well to create unique scenes that are both terrifying and unique. 
Halloween Ends maintains a strong visual style throughout the film both in its most horrific scenes as well as in its scenes which capture the bright lights and excitement of the holiday. Neon lights, motorcycle rides, and the dark, open road recall juvenile delinquent films of the 1950s–brought to even more through the performances of Rohan Campbell and Andi Matichak during these moments. 
Conclusion
Halloween Ends is a perfect conclusion to the Halloween franchise and is a fun, suspenseful trip inside the haunting world of Michael Myers and Haddonfield. Halloween Ends is a wonderful celebration of the season–both its tricks and treats–giving us spooky atmospheres, complex performances–especially from Jamie Lee Curtis, Rohan Campbell, and Andi Matichak–and an amazing cameo horror fans are sure to love.

This clip - an 1898 silent film "Something Good-Negro Kiss," with music added by @kyalbr - is thought to be the earliest depiction of #BlackLove in American cinema. The song #Agape by @nicholasbritell is from the original score for @bandrybarry's 2018 @bealestreet film adaptation of the #JamesBaldwin novel "If Beale Street Could Talk." @IAmReginaKing won best supporting actress @theacademy award for her role in the movie, while both the sceeenplay and score were nominated.

When I discovered this restored 1898 microfilm, from the dawn of cinema, I wanted to use the score from Beale Street because I wanted to build a bridge to a point 120 years ago. "In 1898 #WilliamSelig, vaudeville perfomer turned film producer, took a knock off of a Lumiere Cinematographe and shot a 29 second love story titled 'Something Good-Negro Kiss.' In a time when racist caricatures of African Americans were rampent this short film shows a welcome and tender departure and may be the first representation of African-American intimacy on-screen. The actors are #vaudeville stars and dance partners #SaintSuttle and #GertieBrown and on [12.12.2018] the film was added to the Library of Congress’ #NationalFilmRegistry [@librarycongress]. The University of California School of Cinematic Arts archivist Dino Everett discovered and restored the film and it was properly identified by scholar Allyson Field of the University of Chicago.
