to that "every comic book" anon: im sorry you feel that way but i think that's like 90% just a problem of marvel and dc. if you want some comics where characters points and personalities don't get utterly fucked over (or develop in natural ways), you should look into more indie (or even just smaller publisher) stuff. those writers tend to be more passionate about actually following through properly, because it's a story they want to tell with characters they truly care about, instead of writer-of-the-week just trying to finish a quota. this isn't universally true of course but it is definitely a noticeable distinction.

depending on your taste, i would recommend:

•"Love and Rockets" by brothers Jaime, Mario, and Gilbert Hernandez (which ran for decades and actually had characters age naturally over time. this started as a fantasy sci-fi thing and eventually became more slice-of-life but it's very good, largely character-driven, and has surprisingly 3d-feeling art for how simplistic it is)

•"I Feel Sick" by Jhonen Vasquez (yes, this is the guy who created invader zim. kinda gorey but a quick read, both darkly funny and compelling, about a woman struggling with art block and mental health after a series of traumatic events. this is only 2 books long and is actually a spinoff of the 7 book "Johnny the Homicidal Maniac" but that's harder to recommend to a stranger because of just how over-the-top fucked up it is. i still love jthm too but definitely look up a list of trigger warnings if you read that one).

•"Not Drunk Enough" by Tess Stone (this one has been on hiatus for years so maybe it doesn't count but there are two full books out and the first chapter of book 3, all online (ndecomic dot com). it is also kinda gorey but it was created as a metaphor for the author's feelings when he thought people would judge him for coming out as trans. he felt trapped, felt like everyone was judging him, etc so he didn't come out for a long time. that's where the whole "trapped in a building while thousands of eyes watch" thing came from)

i might come back w more recs in the future if ppl want more but i think im runnin outta space oopsies

SO I GET U!!! But it's ok! We have so much time to do our comics and other passion projects, I really wouldn't stress over doing it asap! It's ok to take things slowly and not rush into it (trust me ik)!

To answer your question- I haven't thought about it! Mostly because Kuroshitsuji actually does have an official series of musicals, so I didn't think my contribution was necessery? But... I kinda wanna do it know... I'm not sure which songs I would use but I wanna do it...

@zoeyfoster-blog Omg I'm extremely biased, but I would say yes. For one, GX is a comedic masterpiece especially if you watch the dub. Yes the dub takes itself way less seriously and changes a lot of stuff from the canon japanese version BUT. It's so funny. It's so so so funny. Other then that I mean, GX is just a fun show with fun characters. I love the characters dearly (Chazz it up for life), but it's not like. The most brilliant piece of media out there. It's a pretty standard show for kids really. Though it get's really angsty and dark in seasons 3-4. Idk I really love it personally. If I were you, I'd watch s1, maybe early season 2 dubbed, because those parts of the show are a lot more silly and watching them dubbed would make it more funny/enjoyable. But def switch to sub on the more serious episodes like those in s3. Also thank you for liking my art :'D!!

1: What was the first episode you’ve seen? Episode 1 because I intentionally looked for the show to watch it after seeing clips of it online.

2: What’s your favorite episode? Episode 1. It's one of my favorite first episodes of a show ever and I really like how well it introduces everything. I love other episodes of the show of course I just think the first episode did a great job and should get more praise for that!

3: Favorite Irken? I like the main character a lot but if I had to choose a second favorite uhhh the Tallests as 1 entity I can't choose one over the other

4: Favorite Human? I like the other main character a lot also but as a second Professor Membrane bc he's funny and I had a mental image of him before watching the show

5: Favorite Other Race? There aren't really a lot of those to pick from :V

6: Any fan characters? Yesssss a few but this particular one I made several comics about

7: Favorite fanfiction? It's NSFW and I haven't actually finished the full series because it's long and I suck at reading! I might consider linking it at another point :V Favorite bc I took some inspiration from it for Est and I enjoy NSFW fics lol.

I've got a few really inspirational ones on my computer! I recently made a long comment on the Irken propoganda poster fanart (and made my own fanart based off of it), I like the Corrupted Data 99% one (and made my own fanart based off of it), I like this sketch dump of Tallest Zims bc it's cool and bc of the comment "all I do is lie to myself" which I quote all the time now, this FnF song video that I keep trying to do a full version of because the OP said I could but haven't gotten around to it yet, and a bunch more I don't feel like tracking down lol.

9: Do you write for the fandom? Well I make comics but for fanfiction I've made one, short ZaDr fic but in character somehow

11: Would you be scared if Jhonen found your art/fanfics/blog? I've watched his Twitch streams (he might still be doing that every Monday?) and sometimes when he searches stuff up he ends up scrolling past fanart and doesn't acknowledge it lol. So not really, he's not as mean a guy as the fandom seems to demonize him wrongly as. I actually think meeting him would be pretty cool!

12: Do you like pairings? If so, which? I mean aside from ZaDr I like RaPr and basically am open to any if ppl write it in a way I like. Those two I just enjoy in particular.

13: Do you believe there are any canon pairings? Like, intended by the writers? I don't remember any prominent characters dating canonically no lol.

14: OTP? ZaDr. I watched episode 1 and shipped it immedietely after their first interaction XD If that's not a "One True Pairing" I'm not sure what is.

15: Favorite enemies? (Tak and Zim or Zim and Dib… etc) Does enemies to lovers count? Idk I am more of a HELPLESS ROMANTIC type I am only into enemies if it's charged in some way XD Otherwise it sticks out to me less so nothing really comes to mind that easily.

16: Favorite Tallest of the four? I can't choose Red or Purple it changes every day! I like Miyuki and Spork but come on they don't have that much screentime and Red and Purple have far more changes to be funny lol

17: Favorite thing about Invader Zim? ADHD and artstyle

18: Least favorite thing about Invader Zim? that's hard. Even when the show disturbs me I take it as a positive. Uhhh. when ppl in the fandom are judgemental about other people's headcanons in a mean way lol

19: Do you have any blocked tags, relating to the fandom? probably but finding out would mean I'd have to look through my blocked tags! I frequently block people though.

20: Do you ever do crossovers? I had some Gravity Falls crossover sketches back in 2021, and I've done a few crossovers between characters in my own discord servers sometimes, but nothing large/prominent.

...Unless crossovers between zim askblogs count.

21: Any parts of show that actually scare you? Probably not scare but definitely disturb me. I'd need to rewatch it to remember.

22: Any parts of the fandom that actually scare you? I'm very sensitive as a person and have anxiety so people scare me easily!

23: Part that made you laugh the hardest… I'd need to go clip hunting for that! Good news though I recorded myself watching IZ with a friend in 2021 and am slowly editing the clips so I'll find out eventually.

24: Part that you could relate to… Zim very ADHD

25: Least favorite episode? I like all the episodes and I see grossing me out as a bonus bc rarely do things disturb me and it means that it succeeded but uhhhhhh I mean least likely to rewatch probably rise of the zitboy lol

26: Least favorite scene? Sometimes there's fatphobia in the show and that sucks :V

27: Do you like G.I.R.? YES I don't draw him as often as other characters but if you look around my askblog he makes it into tons of the posts lol

29: Are the Tallest intelligent or not? Yeah they just don't care lol

30: What do you think an Irkens blood color is? I like it when it's either pink or matches their eye color. I want a rainbow blood smear of irkens after war. imagine it.

31: If you could write an episode, what would happen? I've thought of several fake episode scripts, like where Dib gets suspended for pushing Zim at school and goes to a better nicer school, then ends up back at normal school at the end of the episode because the world is built to hurt Dib, or an episode where Zim gets stuck in his elevator and can't get out bc his PAK legs are too long and his rockets are useless and GIR is useless.

If I could write an episode though it'd probably end up being gay shit tho ngl

32: If all the voice actors and artists were different, would you still want Invader Zim to come back? Well if the writers are the same... hmm, though a lot of what was good about IZ was the synnergy between all the writers, artists, and VAs, like Rikki who voiced GIR also being a background artist, and somehow a bunch of these ppl are still friends 20 years later.

I think it'd be fun to see it even if they totally and completely fuck it up though because then the fandom would tear it apart and it'd be funny

33: Do you consider any of the characters your ‘babies’? Depends on the day but I do love random navigator drone from Florpus. Baby bc Evv is totally based off of them XD Adopted!

34: Do you have any fancharacters that are the result of two canon characters getting together? Fankids? I'd say Wur, even though it's not Dib's biological kid he's still its dad XD

35: If you could meet any of the characters, who would it be and what would you say? Dib's insufferable but I think he just wants someone to listen to him lol

36: If you could meet any of the voice actors, who would it be and what would you say? Probably Richard bc I've seen lots of interviews with him and he just seems really friendly and nice to talk to!

37: Other than Zim, who is your favorite Irken Invader? Damn :V Well we don't really get to meet the other invaders much, do we? Like it's either Skoodge or you just REALLY like a background character lol

38: Professor Membrane: a good daddy or a neglectful cold father? I'd like him to be good but yk all the times he's good it could just be argued it's because his kids are science experiments XD When I write him he's neglectful and cold but more on accident than intentional abuse. He wants the best for his kids but he's just not equipped to deal with their emotions.

39: Favorite quote? I'd need to rewatch the show there's too many good ones lol

40: Zim’s taken over the planet… Now what? Calls the Tallests to tell them about it and they're like..... We're not flying over there!!! Uh... we told you to watch it not take it over!!! uhhhh whatever, good job [disconnects].

Zim would have his fun being king for a day then things get back to normal by the end of the episode lol

1. caffeinewitchcraft - absolutely incredible author, everything they post on here gives me damn shivers when i read it. my favorite prompt fill they’ve posted is one about having made up a language as a kid but you meet somebody who also knows the language you thought you made up. again - CHILLS. they just have so many wonderful ideas and their writing can really just grab ahold of you and take you on a journey, it’s amazing!

2. luckystarchild/luckychild - this is my FAVORITE fanfic author EVER. i love their yyh fanfic lucky child! i have re-read it several times (tho i am currently behind on the updates atm) and UGH i just love their writing so much!!!! again, another incredible author that i just super adore. it makes ME want to write when i read their writing! (and re-read their writing, because even if yyh isn’t my current hyperfixation atm, their writing is so fantastic. i can almost always just go back and re-read their stuff and love it all over again, i’m never not in the mood for it. :D)

3. bamsara - aaaaaaaaah i love bam’s art so much. like literally i know their fic only JUST dragged me into this sun and moon hyperfixation, but there’s also a really WILD overlap of interests?? they write (and draw) for invader zim, too, and they also love (as far as i can tell) lilo and stitch. and like??? that’s 1. my favorite movie ever and 2. my FIRST fandom ever. and their art style just gives me life?? and their writing??????? holy fuck! bam is just really incredible all around and they do SO much, even though they constantly have people stealing their art and are frustrated by dealing with that. i just think they’re super cool and talented and i frequently scroll through their art tag abshsajkd they have so many funny ideas that they turn into comics and put in their fics;;; all around just. yeah. cool. god i’m so embarrassing

4. shandzii - again, another SUPER incredible artist who’s work and art style i adore. i CRAVE. iirc they are an animator on helluva boss? which i LOVE???? and their art-style (much like helluva boss) is that wonderful cartoony style SO reminiscent of invader zim era animation (i think i am NO expert) and their stuff is pretty much ALWAYS colored, and AHHH THEIR ANIMATIONS - just a lot of incredible art i adore basically!!!! every time i see one of their animations it makes me want to try my hand at animating too, tho i have a problem with any project that can’t be finished in one sitting lol. tho i’m working on that!!! another artists that tbh when i look at their stuff it makes ME wanna draw more and improve my art :D

5. gigiree - my friend!!!!!! gigi is an INCREDIBLE author that i’ve been so SUPER DUPER LUCKY to befriend through her fic, and we’ve known each other for years now. (which is WILD to think about omg) she’s super talented and super kind, and i love throwing around ideas with her and seeing her art and all the CRAZY stuff she does (her COLORS, the elaborate BACKGROUNDS, she ANIMATES)! gigi is one of those authors that inspires ME to write more and also work on my writing, and i’m so glad that we’re bros now omg. honestly just a person that brightens up your life! sometimes i read a line of her writing that just fuckin punches me in the gut and grabs my heart in a death grip because it just, effects you. god damn. she’s incredible! not to be gay, but i’m lucky to know her and ecstatic to be her friend :D

i think those are the main ones! there are a LOT of other authors, artists, and blogs i adore - twinanimatronics, maudiemoods, bones-of-a-rabbit, thebibliosphere, cultureandseptember - those are just a few! But these ones were the first to come to mind, off the top of my head, that i had a LOT to say about. and if i gush about ALL the incredible artists and authors on tumblr that i adore, we’ll be here for days. :D

Rarity from My Little Pony because while Pinkie Pie is defenitely who I'd pick if I was choosing who like, represents me or who I gell with, or maybe rainbow dash & fluttershy for the gelling with/getting along thing (stares at Seán <3), I also rlly appreciate rarity's drama and her artistry and how she's glamorous. I guess there's just a lot of media demonizing femininity and as much as she comes off as prissy to people I've grown to realize that a lot of that is just that she's easily frustrated/upset/angered and also like cares about her appearance, neither of which is like evil or anything. She's actually reminds me of me in that way because I have a short fuse both for crying and deciding to like bite people so like. same girl. She gets a bad rep and I don't think she deserves it. we stan her for that reason. support ur local diva

7. Fizarolli from Helluva Boss because he's the next thing came to my head. don't interact with the fandom at all actually!!! but we watch the show and Fizz is like, pretty pog. he's poggers. I like his design and I like that he's blorbo.

8. Bocchi from bocchi the rock. MECOREMECOREMECORE because of the spiraling and "the world is ending" but then SEÁNCORE SEÁNCORE SO HIMCORE because she's socially anxious and can't talk to people. Both of us see her and go "wow me". our shared kin if we had a kinlist. Holding hands over her.

10. OH MY GOD VIRGIL??? ANXIETY???? FROM SANDERS SIDES???? He reminds me of Seán and also he has so much character growth and development over time and I just rlly feel like we as an audience get to know and understand him better than anyone else really so it creates a sense of closeness with the character that like. Of course he's the fan favourite!! not just because he's edgy but also because he's someone people know and can understand as a character really well, can write fics well and make comics well, can see themselves talking to or hanging out with. or arguing with if they wouldn't get along IRL. It's a stacked deck right now I feel like. although,,, roman is so close in that #2 spot so he might just overtake asuming he can both get an actual episode where he breaks down finally and also that I don't end up still picking virgil because "my husband is an anxious emo boy too omg!!!"

Things that happened in middle school

1. In sixth grade, I became convinced that a boy from our adjacent high school (context: my middle school was in the same building as our high school) was madly in love with me. There was literally no evidence for this except that I made him laugh once during a school assembly, and it’s also worth noting that I didn’t even have a crush on him. I just wanted a nice guy to like me. Anyway, I decided I would ‘confront’ him about this, so as we were going to class one day, I blurted out his name in the middle of the hallway. When he stopped and looked at me, I immediately panicked and forgot what I was going to say, so I just shouted, “There’s a guy, sleeping on the meat!” (this is an obscure reference to an old YouTube video, in case you’re wondering) He just stared at me for a few seconds and then just said “Oh, no,” before going to class. Sometimes I wonder why he thought I yelled that at him or if he even remembers but I definitely remember

2. In fifth grade, I started taking vocal lessons with a woman from my church. She was a good teacher and she was really nice, but the thing is she had recently graduated from college and was still living with her parents. Her dad ran a comic book shop out of the same house where I had the music lessons, and…well, let me just say that a few of the comics were um. Pretty raunchy. I’m talking LOTS of half-naked ladies and cleavages. So in the same room where I had my vocal lessons, I was surrounded by comic books about sexy female vampires. Also I wasn’t allowed to touch or read any of these books. I’m not confident, but I think this made me more gay. Thanks, Miss Chrissy!

3. Since my mom was a teacher at my school, there were several times I stayed very late after school while my mom got paperwork done in her office. I would use this time to go on the school computers and watch Warrior Cat AMVs, or I would write a bunch of very terrible Invader Zim fanfics on Microsoft Word. Not a big deal, except that it was the SCHOOL computer, meaning that any of the teachers could have accessed the files on these computers at any point and found all the shit I was writing. To this day, I wonder if any school staff ever happened across my fanfics long after I’d left that school, or if they just got buried under everything else in the school database or whatever

4. I had this teacher who loved to split people up into groups for in-class assignments. Her classroom was very small, though, so when we’d have these group assignments, we would be sent to just like…random areas of the school where we could work, and she would occasionally come and check on us. One day, she sent me and my friend group at the time to work in the school kitchen (no lunch ladies were in there, they had already left for the day), and expected us to work efficiently, but since we were all a bunch of giggly middleschoolers we immediately started messing around the second she left the kitchen. The school had a mouse problem, so there were mouse traps everywhere, and I (jokingly) said, “Hey, what if we put a pen in the mouse trap?” One of my friends thought this was a hilarious idea, and she actually did it. The trap make a really loud noise, the pen exploded and ink went all over the counter, and we all just sat in silence for a long time until we decided to just finish our work and go back to class. The next day, someone discovered the pen in the mousetrap, and our principal had to give the whole middle school class a talk about why we don’t mess with mouse traps. No one ever knew it was my friend’s fault, and she never admitted to it.

5. Speaking of broken things: in seventh grade, I used to think it was really funny to make ‘cocktails’ in chemistry beakers. Basically, I would get a beaker from the science room and fill it with bits of paper and markers, essentially making it look like what I thought alcoholic drinks looked like. I would pretend to drink them to make my friends laugh, because I guess none of us had better things to do. One day, while we were doing this, I set the ‘cocktail’ on top of a TV we had in the room, and the beaker slid off of it and shattered on the floor. We all panicked, and I frantically swept it up and disposed of everything before the teacher showed up. But one of my friends was determined that I tell the truth about breaking the beaker, like she brought it up several times throughout that day, but I shut her down each time because I was terrified of getting in trouble. Now, a bit of context for what happened next: my mom was our English teacher, and she had this computer program called ‘Spelling B’ (I think that’s what it was called?) where she would design online spelling tests for us to do. Each test question would be a funny sentence that used whatever the word was, and because she was the one writing the test, she would always find a way to reference things that happened in class as a way of keeping it silly. Anyway, like a day after the beaker incident, I was taking this test when one of the questions included my name, and while I don’t remember what the exact sentence was, it included me breaking a beaker. I assumed my friend had told my mom about the incident, and I got upset but I was like, “Mom hasn’t yelled at me about it yet, I guess it’s not a big deal”. After school, when my mom was driving me home, I turned to her and said, “So…(friend’s name) told you about the beaker thing, huh?” My mom got really quiet, before she said, “What beaker thing?” Turns out the test question was just a silly, fictional scenario my mom came up with, she had no idea I had actually broken a beaker. This is still the wildest coincidence that’s ever happened to me, but my mom never told the science teacher for some reason

ok so im actually going to give a few answers because i have 3 characters i reallysuper dont like

so lets go:

my most disliked character from a purely canon stance is.... sizz-lorr. i feel like this is a pretty safe choice for Least Liked. like man he was an asshole to zim et cetera, sure zim escaped but idk i just dont like him at All. hes the kind of character i love to hate yaknow, frycook is one of my favorite episodes and i live to just yell at the tv whenever hes on

but ngl the whole “sizz-lorr did nothing wrong” side of the fandom rubs me the wrong way. like you look me in the eyes and tell me that authoritarian-ass irken empire would be just.... fine with sizz-lorr enacting vigilante justice like that wrt finding zim and borderline torturing him? “its just like any retail job” man i remember when my mcdonalds manager made me climb into the ronald mcdonald costume that was filled with grease. standard part of the job!

(and yea they might be fine w the vigilante justice thing bc zim but i feel like theyd still give sizz-lorr SOME sort of punishment because that sort of thing is... generally frowned upon)

so yeah that side of the fandom really pisses me off bc theyre the type that tends to force their headcanons onto others and be The Correct Ones. like let people do whatever goddamn. im not reading ur dissertation on why sizz-lorr is a good guy..... im happy for you. or sorry that happened.

anyway im putting the other 2 under the cut bc then i can nuke the post if controversy happens

other most disliked: ZIB. in the comics he’s.... okay. he’s a cool villain! i liked the reveal! BUT THE FANDOM....... guys, y’know he was planning to commit multidimensional genocide, right? he’s not an uwu softboi? right? you know this right??? i REALLY like him as the worst traits of zim and dib combined and showing that dib can (literally and figuratively) BECOME zim in the worst possible timeline and im sure a sort of rehabilitation of him could be treated well but idk nobody rly does much w him other than making him a slightly more prickly dib to project on

i feel like its part of the fact that a lot of the fandom is newer fans from florpus where dib is more the good guy and WAY more mellowed out, so they tend to project on him, so when a Meaner Dib shows up they can project on him too while kinda sanding off the edges to make sure theyre not being TOO problematic

(this phenomenon is why theres not much serious tallest stuff i dont think. many tallest fans r antis so they gotta be Nice N Pure so they cant actually do any deep dives bc theyre assholes and Bad Space Dictators so no nuance here! only funny jokes)

anyway my number one disliked character.... that i cant even watch the episode she appears in...

i just.... i just find her so overrated!! i thought id like her better nowadays since i disliked her AND gaz when i was younger but.... i dont??? I REALLY DONT GUYS..... I DONT GET IT!! (fwiw i fucking love gaz now)

her WHOLE schtick is just, Zim, But Better. it gets old REALLY quickly and i always thought her disguise kinda sucked? like, think about it. sure zim’s disguise looks shitty but its at least TANGIBLE. you can just... UR HAND IS GONNA GO THRU A HOLO THINGY!!! WHAT HAPPENS IF SHE HAS TO GO ANYWHERE AT NIGHT? OR IN THE DARK??? WONT IT GLOW?? SINCE ITS A HOLOGRAM???? every time i see her im like MA’AM WHAT IF DIB TOUCHES YOUR HAIR?? HIS HAND IS GONNA GO RIGHT THROUGH!!

also if she was such a brilliant invader she shoulda figured out how to get out of a room.... bet zim wouldve figured it out. sure he wouldve figured it out by blowing the whole building to smithereens but hey.... he figured it out!

and idk i just find her SO OVERRATED by the fandom like shes EEVERYWHERE and it just makes me hate her even more like idk i just donnnnnnnt get it shes NOT THAT COOL she just brooded for 20 years or however long it was until she could get to zim and kick his ass and take his already fake mission?? if she didnt have that hypno thingy she wouldve been toast.

Top 5 Zims in the Zimvoid

After seeing Stella/Krizland do her top five Zims, I may as well do so myself. Note that I barely hate ANY Zims whatsoever for those who’s favorites are lower. If anything, I doubt there such a thing a “most hated Zim” since I LOVE every single one of them. In my viewpoint, when I say “top 5 Zims”, it would mostly be the ones that I love them to the point where I think,draw, mention them....ALOT. And note that I will be counting down from #5 through #1 so nobody gets confused.

So without further ado, let’s get started:

Number 5: Number 1

This character might be THEE BEST antagonist Invader Zim comic has ever made. Not only because of how threatening he is and look, but because of his background and his motivation.

As far as we know, as I post this, Number 1 is the most mysterious character in the arc. So much so that make fans create tons of theories about him. And the more we learn about him, the bigger the theories get. The more we learn about him, the more interesting he becomes. He’s not only a villain, but very likely a victim, as his condition is horrifying beyond any Zim and Dibs’ imagination. Whatever his motivation is, you can get a sense that it’s not good. There’s just a vibe to him makes you both scared of him yet pity him.

If this is what Sam is aiming for, than he knows damn well how to make a great villain.

ISSUE 49 UPDATE: I take it back. He’s not a victim. He’s just straight up evil and insane.

Number 4: Number 2

I always imagined what the Number 2 Zim would look like before we were introduced to him. And let me just say that once they finally revealed him, I was not disappointed whatsoever. Sure I sort of expected him to be this huge and scary bodyguard of Number 1. But I think that’s what I love about him. That it turns out he’s really not. In fact that’s what I love about 1 and 2’s appearance. They don’t NEED to look too threatening in order to make them good antagonists.

Number 2 is an average looking Zim in which his only difference is that he is taller than our own Zim and wears a purple cloak that is suppose to be a mixed representation of a monk and an assassin. Which very well represents his connection to the Elite Zims’ ego. In fact he has both the representation of a worshipper/follower AND a lead soldier. Followed with him often calling the Elites his “brothers” as well as giving them extremely strict physical training. It doesn’t help that he is pretty much plays the role of Number 1’s eyes outside of his room, given he makes sure the elite’s system is stabled.

As of right now, we don’t know yet if he knows of Number 1’s true identity. But one thing is for sure is that he will do ANYTHING to please the leader so that he can become a powerful Zim as him.

Number 3: The Elder

I don’t know why, but I love him. There’s a thing about him that gives him the teacher/father/grandfather figure kind of character. And the fact he’s one of the first Zim to enter the Zimvoid and that he is responsible for forming the Resistance makes him more interesting. I would REALLY love to see if he has an interesting backstory. Like...the WHOLE story of his experiences in the Zimvoid.

If they don’t do that than hell! I can make one myself!

Also, I can expect him being the type of grandfather figure that cares for each one of his members (specifically 2K and Palindrome) who would like bugging them or tricking them just so they can learn a lesson as well as playing around with them. I don’t know, I just love those types of teachers/parents.

Number 2: 2K (Number 2000)

Ok. Go ahead. Bonk me. This was honestly the toughest thing to decide though. Yes, he’s baby. And don’t we all love babies. But it’s not the only reason he made it this high on the list. I think there’s more to that. Like...Sam could have honestly made 2K just a whiny and helpless infant who wants nothing more but attention like...a typical baby would do. And I wouldn’t mind whatsoever if Sam went this route.

But when you are going to make him the major character of this arc, he needs to have a PURPOSE on being a major character. Therefore, Sam was able to successfully do this by making him sort of the lead of the Resistance. Ok, I wouldn’t really call him the leader (even though he kind of is), given its already stated the Resistance has more than one leader. So I would more likely say he plays as the navigator of the gang. As well as the one who encourages the Resistance to give out their full strength in order for every Zim to succeed in taking down Number 1 and getting back home.

I also love how his character is more detailed with the fact that he is still a ZIM regardless of being a baby. This is proven with the fact he always tries to stay self-confident. Along with the fact that he’s willing to prove someone, including a Dib, that he can still be a good competitor despite his fragile looking appearance, which makes him different from his partner Palindrome.

I guess his only flaw to his character would be his....selfishness? Yes, I’m aware he is a Zim. But I still find it odd that one issue, he’s willing to join a fight and then in the next one, he decides to just hide behind the door while the rest of the Resistance are fighting. Maybe it’s a huge war he can’t handle? Who knows.

Regardless, I can’t hate him for that because of how well detailed his character is. I think his interaction with Palindrome is what also makes him a great character. I don’t think either of them would have been a great character without them being together.

Honorable mentions

Number 100/2004/Big Zim: honestly, i can’t imagine that they would make a character from going threatening looking to someone who is just a sensitive and lovable muscular teddy bear. I just...I love him. Just...protect him at all cost.

Number 500: I honestly love that they made a Zim that is sort of a bookworm. It just would have been a little nice if we learned more about him but I can see myself reading a good fanfiction about him if someone does so.

Number 501: he’s sort of like Number 2 which is why I loved him so much before 2 entered the picture. I always see him as the one in charge of the guard and I could sort of see him playing the antagonist role in issue 46-47.

Number 1: Palindrome (Number 2002)

He is not JUST an older brother figure to 2K. He is THE EMBODIMENT of a older brother AND parental figure (mostly towards a Gir in my opinion). It’s also surprising that out of all the Zims we seen, he is the one who acts the least like....A Zim.

Like...it’s funny. Just like every Zim, he is attempting to conquer Earth and has his Dib as an enemy. And yet, he’s almost the complete opposite of our Zim.

He’s very quite, he not too confident (note the times he complained about his water, missing previous experiences/encounters etc.). And one thing. ONE important thing that makes him the complete opposite of a Zim is that he BARELY hides his EMPATHY.

As far as we know, OUR Zim would BARELY EVER show a sense of empathy. Examples like showing any sense of emotions towards his Gir (yes we have seen him show a sense of empathy to Gir few times. But he’s able to hide it to the point that it’s barely recognizable). Palindrome straight up gave a heartfelt and happy expression towards Gir for TWO panels (even excitedly and happily saying hi to Gir) before trying to brush it off by saying he didn’t miss him whatsoever....which in my opinion I totally doubt it after the reaction he just made a second ago. 2K, Our Zim, and all the other Zims barely showed any reaction towards Gir’s presence whatsoever.

And one thing our Zim would never do is to comfort someone or show a sense of lending a helping hand (you saw him abandoned people in trouble multiple times without hestitation as far as I know). The moment Pal saw a Zim crying, he went up to him to share the feelings he was going through as well as show a sense of comfort at the same time.

I think that’s what makes me love Palindrome so much. It’s not that he’s NOT a Zim. He’s a Zim but in a completely different manner. And he might kindest and calmest Zim were EVER gonna get. Not to mention....he’s adorable. He’s straight up a fish in a scuba-diving suit. If I were to imagine the kind of Zim I would create, Palindrome would be the closest to it next to 2K. Both him and his partner...they are perfect. They’re design is just perfection.

Actually, y’know what? I’m gonna do that thing with the first 10 chapters of aip. They’re pretty short but I’m sure I’ll be able to find one bit for each. Commentary in parenthesis.

1- “You’re not cheating on me, are you?”

“Who else would put up with him?” The computer chimed in.

(My characterization of the Computer- and the little confetti comment- comes a lot from In Short Supply, I think. I like him as just, like.... a guy who can’t quit his job because it’s his only function and also he has no body outside of it, but is still going to gripe and make jokes about it. Also Zim’s complete denial for TWO DAYS that he was pregnant and just imagining the Computer getting more and more tired of trying to tell him is great. I do see why people saw this and decided they wanted to hop on and follow for more.)

2- Zim dragged himself up by tugging at Dib’s arms in one fluid motion, before gripping the collar of his shirt in an iron fist and staring down at him, feet planted firmly on top of Dib’s thighs. “You! You did this!”

”It sounds like you did it to yourself,” Dib said, shoving Zim off him on instinct, but that just tightened the irken's grip, nearly clunking their heads together as Dib was tugged forward by his own force. “I didn’t know you could even do that!”

(Trying to convey the show’s physical comedy style in text is really, really hard, but I did my best- both in AIP and in TD. Zim making excuses when he does in fact want the kid is also pretty damn cute.)

3- “I’m starting a log, so we can keep track of progress.” He turned the camera up to show Zim better, and Zim smacked it into Dib’s lap, the phone turning off.

“You will not use your record-y thing to show anyone my true form!” Dib grabbed the phone and held it protectively against his chest.

“Relax, I’m not going to show anyone. This is for my personal notes. Besides, if it’s like an experiment, you’re going to want records, right? Half the city has seen you out of disguise by now anyways.” Zim glared at him, and Dib threw up his arms. “Okay, go grab your disguise, happy?”

(I’m glad that I showed that while they WERE dating, they still had a bit to go when it came to trusting each other, it allowed a bit more development later on.)

4- “If you’re telling me you actually screwed Zim, I’d rather carve my ears out than hear about it, so I’m going to stop you right there.”

(Yeah, this one’s just funny, no smart commentary here.)

5- The elevator started its descent, and Zim tapped his chin. “This shouldn’t be too bad. I’m an elite soldier, some discomfort for a while is manageable, and I’ll have a new squishy servant to help around the house. Which is more than anyone else around here does!” He called up. “Except for Minimoose. Minimoose is good.”

“I can stop this elevator right now and you can crawl the rest of the way down.”

(More fun Computer dialogue. This one also has Zim totally brushing off the risks, great job Zim.)

6- “This is insane. I knocked up an alien who forgot how to count.” Dib raked a hand through his bedhead.

(This is one of my favorite lines in the whole fic lmao. I debated so, so hard over including the aging thing for fear of being Canceled or whatever. Even though Dib says they need to go back to it, they never did, oops. AIP Zim is roughly in the 17-22ish range in irken years since I do think they send out smeets while they’re still in the human 13-ish range, so while he’s an adult it’s hard to shift it over to Earth years.)

7- Gir nodded, eyes flashing red for a moment. “Understood!” He went back to normal, nuzzling his cheek against Zim’s chest. “We’re a big happy family, like those ones on tv where they all yell at each other but hug it out after twen’y minutes!”

(Writing Gir is really fun, he’s got some good lines in this one. You SHOULD be able to roughly trace almost everything he says in my fics to a sort of Gir-logic, filtered through his brain. Also this was the first one to get chapter art, besides the cover!)

8- If there was an opening on the board, he’d take it in a heartbeat. Hopefully they wouldn’t hold ‘dating the alien he spent years trying to destroy’ against him. No one knew besides Tunaghost anyways, and he’d like to keep it that way. (Tunaghost was herself dating a werewolf and had admitted it to him first, thank you very much, he hasn’t just blurted it out and now they had blackmail on each other like reasonable people)

(I probably should have done something with this, but oh well. It’s a good line. I think it really feels kinda in the... style of the show’s humor I guess? If not directly than in the spirit, at least. Also pregnant Zim with blowtorch was one of the first images I had while brainstorming.)

9- “You’re going to be fine. Trust me, if seven years of living on Earth haven’t killed you yet, especially with about four of them with me actively trying to finish the job, nothing will.”

“You’re just terrible at it.” Zim was grinning again, though, and Dib smiled back.

“Good thing too. I’d much rather have you here than hanging up on somebody’s wall right now.”

“Ugh, that’s what you had planned?”

“Look, I knew up to the autopsy, everything after that was just details,” Dib said. “It doesn’t matter now.”

“I’d deserve a tank and a spotlight!”

“Yeah, yeah.” Dib nudged him. “What would you have done with me?”

“Hmm… made you into a zombie slave.”

“That’s… actually kind of cool,” Dib admitted.

“The offer is still on the table if you’re interested.”

“I’ll pass,” Dib said.

(This is some fun banter to lighten the mood up a little after Zim got sick.)

10- “Aw, don’t be mean! It’s cute, you’s a big dolly.” Gir had a wide grin as Dib cautiously set Zim down. “No, Gir. Not cute. I am an invader!”

“I mean, he’s got a point. You are kind of adorable.” Dib said, holding down a hand for Gir to high-five, something the robot eagerly did.

The moment was a bit spoiled, however, by the fact that Zim took the distraction of the high-five to kick Dib right in the shin.

(I appreciate it when I nail the comic timing- like I mentioned above, it’s difficult to do in writing.)

Aaaaaand... yeah, there’s definitely a lot that feels sloppy now, but there’s a lot of cute or funny little moments in here too that I didn’t even copy over. I really was putting my all into it, and I feel a little better about it now, after looking for the positives instead of dwelling on the stuff I don’t like as much anymore.

8 Freddie Freeman from Shazam, the movie. I'm not too familiar with the comics. I just love Jack Dylan Grazer and Freddie is a funny motherfucker and a huge mess.

9 Zim from Invader Zim. He's a misunderstood alien trying to fit in on Earth. Need I say more?

10 Garth Algar from Wayne's World. Deep cut. 😅 I love him to pieces. He loves playing drums and he loves Wayne. Also doughnuts. And he has ADHD. So... yeah. Those are good movies, go watch them!

This was really hard to pick 10 because I love so many fandoms. Probably over 100. Also how can you pick just one character from a franchise? I ship hardcore so I'm always going to have multiple favorite characters.

Monthly Movies #3: August 2019

Ít’s that time of the month again! Time to look back on all of the movies/specials I watched in August!

Missing Link (2019): By the Ancients, this movie came out in 2019? It feels like years ago to me somehow. Maybe it’s because of weird sudden influx of Sasquatch/Yeti movies recently. I don’t know. Anyways, this movie was kinda okay? I enjoyed it fine. The animation was breathtaking obviously and Susan was a nice character. The main character is a bit of a problem for me because he’s such an unlikable and selfish jerk throughout a lot of the movie that his redemption kind of feels too late. There’s also some possible transphobic subtext in this movie I’ve noticed (and seen others notice, too) with how everyone keeps “deadnaming” Susan.

Coco (2017): What even can I say about this film that hasn’t already been said? It’s gorgeous, has amazing characters, a true heart to it, memorable songs, a twist villain that actually kind of works, wonderful world-building for the Land of the Dead... I just love this movie and it’s up there with some of my favorites of Pixar.

The Lion Guard: The Rise of Scar (2017): I remember so little of this. Like, I really like this show, but I just for the life of me cannot recall what happened in this special of The Lion Guard. I know Scar returns but, really, that’s it? I didn’t enjoy this special too much, that’s what I do recall, since I only gave it two out of five stars.

Savva: Heart of the Warrior/Hero Quest/A Warrior’s Tail (2015): Yes, this movie really has three titles. It’s a chaotic mess of a film, mostly in tone and character designs. I felt like it did have a good idea somewhere deep down inside this. The world and world-building isn’t too horrible and could actually be interesting with more fine-tuning and some rewrites. The character designs were also promising, and some of them were definitely good (the wolves, the Rickies, Savva, the dragon). Even the main message wasn’t too horrible. But the rest... not so much. The main villain, a three-headed ape, is simply comic relief and not really a threat. The comic relief was just over the top and all over the place in this film. It’s just a tone-deaf mess. Don’t even bother watching it for the wolf designs like I did.

The Croods (2013): I remember really hating this movie when I first saw it, but, honestly, I don’t get it anymore. Sure, Dreamworks has done the “overprotective father figure against another character that brings all sorts of new ideas with them”-trope before with Over the Hedge, but it felt new enough. The world this family of cavemen live in is nicely colorful and has tons of interesting animals. The characters weren’t anything new, but the rest held up well enough. The animation is good, though I never liked the human character designs in this movie much.

Hoodwinked! (2005): I’m saying what a lot of people have already said. The animation is utter shit, but the humor is so absurd it’s actually kind of hilarious. I laughed out loud quite a bit at this movie. So ultimately I do recommend it, if you can stomach the shitty visuals.

Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling (2019): I have like no memory whatsoever of the original show, but this special had a trans arc in it so I obviously needed to see it. I support Rachel Bighead so much. You go, girl. As for the special itself, it was pretty funny and had a good message. Nice animation that looks similar to the screenshots and clips I did see of the original.

Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus (2019): Come on, I had to watch this. It’s got Richard Horvitz in the role of an over the top small villain. As a Kaos fan I cannot pass up the opportunity. Now, for this thing, I also had no idea what the original show was about. I watched it when I was little, unlike Rocko, but never truly liked it or got it (probably was too young). The animation in this one was nice and I liked the voice acting, but the rest just became one big blur for me. It was really hard to keep my attention on this one.

Alpha and Omega: Dino Digs (2016): I present to you, the after-one worst movie I’ve seen all year until now. Funnily enough, the actual worst movie I’ve seen is also an Alpha and Omega sequel, except it’s the fifth. The only reason this one isn’t below Family Vacation is that FV was so unforgivably lazy with everything. It’s just a clip show with some new tidbits of animation added in between. As for Dino Digs, it’s every bit as nonsensical and bizarre as you expect, but not in the good way. The writing is lazy as shit, things just go unexplained forever, the animation horrible, the villains complete jokes and there’s... bird dance numbers. Enough said.

Dark Shadows (2012): It had some fun moments in it. That’s all I can say. The rest is just a blur of a memory by now. It has some vampires and werewolves in it, so that’s nice.

Speckles: The Tarbosaurus (2012): This movie/documentary focuses on a Tarbosaurus named Speckles and his struggles in life. I’ve been recommended this movie several times and, yeah, it was all right. Informative (though I don’t know if the information is still accurate) while also telling a story. Honestly, this movie is pretty depressing considering the amount of death in it. My main point that’s holding it back is the voice acting. The voices just sounded too forced and the acting wasn’t too great.

The Lion King (2019): Yes bitches I watched it in cinemas twice. I love this movie, I love the hyenas, I really like the visuals and music. The rest I’ve already said in my July Movie Thoughts when I first saw it.

The Angry Birds Movie (2016): It’s just really, really boring. A nice colorful world, but the rest is just such a drag to get through. Props for the animation, but not much else. I will give them credit for at least succeeding to make a movie out of something as small as a mobile game.

The Last Unicorn (1982): This movie is just really pretty to look at. It feels like an old painting come to life. I didn’t find myself caring particularly much about any of the characters, but the animation and visuals were definitely what gives it major points in my book. Just look at this one if you want a nice hand-drawn fantasy movie.

Beauty and the Beast (1991): This is a very good Disney movie. Belle and the Beast are wonderful characters, the animation is nothing short of spectacular, the colors beautiful, the villain genuinely threatening and enjoyable to watch... It’s just one of the better Disney movies if you ask me. It does still have some iffy stuff in it with how the Beast treats Belle at first and I’m actually not a fan of the songs in this one, particularly Be Our Guest. But other than that, this is a definite fave.

The Jungle Book (2016): I re-watched this one to see whether I prefer this one or The Lion King remake, since I both love them very much. I’ve ultimately come to the conclusion that I still like this one better, but The Lion King 2019 is a close second for sure. Beautiful animation on the animals and a remake that actually differs in the right ways from the source material and surpasses it by far.

Leafie: A Hen into the Wild (2011): A gorgeous movie that should get more recognition. A wonderful mother-son story that will tug on your heartstrings (especially the uncut ending). Perfect backgrounds and amazing animation. My only gripes with it are the completely useless subplot with the rooster and some of the gross-out.

Kayla: A Cry in the Wilderness (1997): Just a nice “kid befriends husky and ends up doing a sled dog race”-movie. I’m pretty sure that’s a genre by now? The simple story of a boy coming to terms with his father’s death and befriending a feral husky named Kayla in the process. Nothing really stood out about it.

Two Brothers (2004): A cute idea for a movie idea about tigers, but I really think they should’ve used less actual animals in it and more animatronics/CGI/greenscreening. It might not have looked as spectacular, but with the real tigers they did use I pick up on a lot of scenes that made me and, looking at the animals’ body language, the animals too, uncomfortable.

My Little Pony: The End of Flutter Valley (1986): This just should’ve been a special of the series instead of ten awkwardly cut episodes that form one movie/special. The way they paced it, especially with this being ten episodes, was just really awkward. This might work for shorter specials (two/three-parters), but not a flat out movie. The animation is average, the villains jokes (seriously, who thought it was a good idea to bring back the annoying as fuck witches from the original?) and the voice acting really grating.

The Lion Guard: Battle of the Pridelands (2019): Nearly forgot to put this one on the list because it doesn’t have a Letterboxd entry yet. But it definitely counts. I really enjoyed this special episode of The Lion Guard, actually. It may not be the strongest series out there, but season 3 definitely was much better than the rest. This special has a lot of what I wanted to see: nice songs, the cast aging up, more explanation as to what exactly Scar and his “mark of evil” are and Janja’s redemption arc. It still has some flaws. When Scar first said “Sisi Ni Sawa” in his threatening speech, it actually felt genuinely fear-inducing. But then he started to sing the rest of the song as he went on and it just became cringe-worthy. Also, as much as I love his character, Janja was too easily forgiven and redeemed. He literally attempted to murder two cubs in season 2. You can’t just suddenly come back from being an attempted child murderer and get forgiven just like that.

Frozen (2013): I don’t get the hate nor love for this movie. It’s nice. That’s it. Good animation and songs, but I don’t connect much to any of the characters. Also, hey, guess what? A twist villain that doesn’t work.

The Lego Ninjago Movie (2017): These Lego movies are just so damn good for whatever reason? While the animation is a bit different in this one (not everything, including elements like water, smoke and fire, is made out of existent Lego pieces anymore), it’s still really good. We also get some breathtakingly realistic cat animation on Meowthra. Lloyd’s arc also felt really heartfelt, and the villain was quite enjoyable.

Equestria Girls: Sunset’s Backstage Pass (2019): Eh, still not a fan of these Equestria Girls specials, sorry. While I thought this one was a tad better than the last few we got, I still do not care much about them. Pinkie was quite obnoxious in this one, which just irked the heck out of me.

Top 5 Underrated Characters

Zoophobia has a lot of characters, doesn't it? Because of that, it's easy for a few to slip between the cracks. Either that, or the only way they get popularity is by Vivz going "hey, they might end up in a relationship with a popular character *wink wink, nudge nudge *" (looking at you Elijah ) I say we discuss 5 of them today.

For this list, I'm looking at characters that personally surprise me as to how few people show interest in them. I'm not just talking about fan art. I rarely see them discussed or anything. However, if a character hasn't gotten a lot of attention from Vivz, then to me it makes sense why no one talks about them, so you won't see anybody like. ...I dunno, Penelope. Anybody here know Penelope? How about Koko, or Calvin? No? Didn't think so.

I'm going to break habit and announce my 2 dishonorables together since I put them on here for the same reason.

DM 1 and 2: Camilla and Elijah

Ok, so it's not so much I feel as though they have no fans, I feel as though they have fans.....that don't actually give a shit about the characters themselves and like them for reasons not relating to their personalities or anything.

Starting with Eli, let's be honest here guys, how many people actually gave a shit about him before we got the implication that he could potentially be Damian's boyfriend? I mean, once in a blue moon, I'll see someone who says they like his character traits or his design, but that doesn't happen very often. Hell, this happened even back when Eli was green and was called Eiglet. Nobody cared about this character that much. We just got the idea that he could end up with Dame, and then the fandom started to take an interest. I find that incredibly disappointing.

With Camilla, I think we can all agree on one thing. Camilla is hot. I see a lot of people going crazy over her design, and the fact that she's a stripper. Sad part is, there's a lot more to Camilla, and Vivz has done several pieces of artwork depicting this side of her, and yet everyone just goes crazy over tits. Again, it's disappointing.

5. Justina

Ok, so this bitch didn't appear in the comic. Well, she did at one point. Zoophobia originally had this prologue where we meet Justina. However, Vivz deleted this prologue so we can assume that prologue is retconned. You can still probably find re blogs of it somewhere. Still, it makes sense why not a lot of people would know about her, thus why she's at the bottom of the list. However, she still showed up at one point, and fuck it, I see plenty of shit for Mirage who hasn't appeared yet. Also, this is my list.

Justina is interesting to me. She has apparently been exiled in Hell and is forced to watch over dreams, a job she finds tedious. She's also the embodiment of Pride, and mistreats her daughter, Ink. Ok, so reread the second sentence. She got exiled. ...in Hell. A place where there's a bunch of crazies and crime, and that's super loose on rules. This bitch somehow got exiled. Also, the sins run over entire sections of Hell. Justina was a politically powerful figure. So what crime could she have possibly committed to get exiled? Why no one talks about this is surprising to me. Like, can we get some headcannons at least? The other reason I like her, and I know this is petty, but she hates being colourful. Am I the only one who finds the concept of a Vivziepop character despising how colourful they are kind of unintentionally funny? Yes? Ok then.....

4. Kaycee

Kaycee's lack of popularity or recognition also came as a surprise. She's basically this story's version of the Cheshire cat. She's the puppet master pulling the strings of characters, kick starting the story. And yet she's neither an evil nor good character. She's morally grey, seemingly seeing the whole story as entertainment for herself. She also seems to be somewhat omnipresent, hiding in plain sight, watching shit go down. The first chapter gave her plenty of panels to shine in, and I'm not sure about the rest of you, but her scenes seemed pretty effective. So why did the fandom collectively forget that this character existed? With a character like Kaycee, you would've thought that the fandom would be abuzz with speculation and theories. Not to mention her connection with Cameron. What does Kaycee see in her? What's her end game? Does she want something, or is all of Safe Haven Kaycee's personal doll house? Come on fandom, what's the hold up?

3. Narissa

Ok, ok, odd choice, I know, and that's partially why she's so low. So why do I think she needs more attention? Because she's high key a major contender for the most badass mom of the comic award. First off, she's the queen of Hell, despite being a mortal and not a demon. She has Lucifer, FUCKING LUCIFER, wrapped around her finger so tight that Vivz has described them as the most lovey dovey couple in the series. On concept alone, I'm already intrigued. And in the comic? Everybody, I want you to look at the panels she appears in, and just notice the body language, posture, facial expression. It could be just me, but Narissa seems to scream "get on your knees before the queen bitch". Also, notice how when Lucifer is full out raging and is about to stab a bitch, while everyone else is fucking terrified, Narissa's just puts her hand up like "Shattup bitch, I'm taking over." Finally, I find her reaction to Damian's actions interesting. I theorized in the past that she may be alright with Dame going to Safe Haven since she kind of gets it, since she experienced something similar in her life, except instead of Earth, she wanted to litteraly go to hell. I think it would actually be really interesting if there were some sort of parallel between Dame and his mum, and that being the reason she lets him do his thing. I see a lot of people give attention to Lucifer and especially Dame, but Narissa is almost always left out. I dunno about you guys, but I vote that we need more Narissa love.

2. Tentadora

Yeah, yeah, blah blah blah, insert Jessica Rabbit joke here.

In Tentadora's case, I think people tend not entirely get Tenta's character. A lot of people criticize Tenta for not being a good parental figure for Damian despite being so doting to him. And I'm about to blow some people's minds here, but Tenta being a bad parent?

That's the point

Yeah, Tenta is actually a really shitty parent, and this is actually intentional. While she does care for Dame, she spoils him rotten and she's even surprisingly neglectful. She just lets Dame hang on Earth where she knows he'll be in danger. Oh but it's alright. He's happy. That's all that matters right? Even when searching for him, she doesn't take it seriously and would rather goof off than make sure he's ok. This is much more evident in a comic you can find on Vivz's art portfolio. It's done in a way that mimics the Invader Zim art style and stars Dame and Tenta. I'll probably reblog it later, but in the comic, Dame is (as confirmed by Vivz in the description ) not entirely mentally healthy. The kid is litteraly under the impression his dolls are talking to him. And Tenta's reaction? She just tells him he's too old to play with dolls.

I feel that Tenta gets a little too much criticism. Yeah, I agree with the design thing, but a lot of criticism I see towards her personality is criticism I have trouble buying. The whole thing with people asking why she's such a shitty parent is one thing, but there's also the accusation that she not only looks like Jessica Rabbit, she acts like and has the same role as her, when really she doesn't. Look, I don't deny the similarities. But Tenta isn't a clone. She's clearly inspired by and shares traits with Jessica, but she's hardly a carbon copy. Personality wise at least. She's silly, not ashamed of being sexy or inconvenienced by it, and she's far less mature. Can we just. ...I dunno, give the pink robot a break?

1. Zechariah

Ok, so hear me out. I know I put him on my worst character list. However, remember how I restricted that list to just characters that appeared in the comic? If it weren't for that restriction, Zech wouldn't have made the list. The main problem I had was his stupid decisions. That's it. Also, this character has appeared in 3 out of the five chapters we got. He has a lot of panels to show up in. However, despite this, nobody pays this guy any attention. Except, oddly enough, the NSFW part of the zp community...... Yeah, I don't know either. Still, you rarely see this guy get spoken about or fan works made for him, while characters like Tom who show up once get more attention than he does. I think that this list has shown me how confusing the zp community can be.

Weird people I met on DeviantArt

This is a post I’ve been wanting to make for a while, and I dunno what kind of response it’s gonna get but I’m posting it anyway. Basically, I mentioned somewhere before that I don’t use DeviantArt anymore, and there were some people confused as to why. To be honest, it’s really because the people I met on there were...strange, to say the least. You’re probably like, “What made them strange?” And in order to answer that question, I put some of my interactions with/observations of odd individuals I’ve met into a numbered list.

Also: if you’re confused about why most of these have to do with Invader Zim, that’s because that’s the fandom I was most active in during this time. Also note that this is not a call out post! This stuff happened years ago, so I don’t actually remember a lot of names anyway.

1. There was this guy who would frequently favorite and comment on my posts, and he seemed polite and friendly, nothing too weird. I thought he was cool, occasionally I would reply to his comments, until one day I made the mistake of checking out his page. This dude...dear god.

I learned from his journals that he was married and had a newborn baby, so he was an adult, but he would draw these extremely bizarre comics in MS Paint that looked like a child drew them. I don’t remember what any of the comics were about, but they followed the life of this woman named “Gina” and they all had this weird focus on abortion or miscarriages. They weren’t terribly graphic, but being thirteen at the time was I super confused so I asked him about it.

He proceeded to become EXTREMELY angry with me for asking about the comics, called me a “fat bitch”, and then blocked me. To this day, I’m still very confused about this.

2. There was an artist in the Invader Zim community I was in who was somewhat well known. I don’t think she was super popular, but I saw her name pop up a lot because she was always commissioning various artists. Every commission piece she asked for always had to do with Dib, and it was pretty clear that he was her favorite. Dib was my favorite, too, so I decided to go to her profile to see what content she’d made of him.

What I found completely caught me off guard: not only did she LOVE Dib, like, to the point where it was almost an obsession, but she also HATED Gaz with a burning passion. Now, Gaz was pretty rude to the other characters in the show, especially Dib, but I never hated Gaz for it. In fact, I liked her and I still like her a lot. This artist, however, couldn’t stand Gaz, verbally attacked people who liked the character (she said they were ‘supporting bullies’ by liking Gaz), and on top of that, regularly drew images of Gaz getting hurt, humiliated, or even tortured.

Now, as a thirteen year old kid viewing all of this, I kinda just backed away in fear and never went to her profile again, and I wrote her off as a ‘weirdo’. But now that I’m an adult, and I look back on this, I can’t help but wonder why this grown ass woman (yes, she was an adult and she had a husband) was drawing images depicting horrible things happening to a character who was essentially a little girl. I mean yeah, I get that they’re fictional characters, but this woman was SO attached to Dib while also showing extreme hatred towards Gaz to the point where I swear it couldn’t have been considered healthy. If she was mentally ill, I feel bad for her and I hope she got help, but...yikes.

3. Now...I wanna tread carefully here because the next artist I’m gonna bring up was one who was very well-known in the Invader Zim fandom. I mean like— she was SUPER popular.

I liked her art before I even went on DeviantArt, and when I joined the website I made a point of going through her gallery and commenting on a lot of her pieces in hopes that she would notice me. The comments I made were cringey, now that I look back, but they weren’t bad at all. I could see how they would be annoying, though, as I was just a kid and I thought I was being funny.

She never replied to any of my comments directly, but one day she posted a journal update where she complained about the “stupid kids” leaving comments on her art pieces. She was basically talking about how annoyed she was with all the dumb comments, and while she wasn’t calling me out specifically, I knew it was about me. I ended up crying after reading that because this artist who had inspired me so much actually thought I was irritating because all I wanted to do was talk to her.

I found out later that she also was just not nice to her any of her younger fans whatsoever. I’ll never forget the time she picked a totally useless argument with one of them (this kid was like 12 or 13, by the way) and she ended up calling them a bunch of horrible names and just straight up bullying them. However, other people in the community constantly defended her from any criticism, always claiming that she could do no wrong. It was wild.

There’s more, but I’m gonna stop the list here because it’s getting kind of long. I’ll tell more stories from my time on DA if anyone is interested.
