This is in a manhwa au?? I don't want to call it a royalty au since neither of you are royalty but its essentially your average manhwa plot

I've decided to write something completely unrelated to the canon plot of jjk since I'm still in the process of watching the anime lmaooo

i feel overwhelmed by this anime tbh someone save me , i might just skip to the second season since i've already seen the first one back when it first came out but lowkey forgor everything😵

He's talking to her with that smile on his face again. You really shouldn't be bothered by this anyway, so why do you keep staring? You know how this story ends for you anyways.

You quickly turned around, not wanting to invade upon Satoru's buisness any further. You weren't outright bothering him, but you have a feeling he wouldn't enjoy you staring at him from behind the corner like some stalker. Not when he has better things to be looking at.

You've been married to Gojo Satoru for exactly 3 months now. It was a marriage born of neccessity, pure interest to stop marriage pressure from your families. Atleast on his side, it was. He made that clear during the marriage proposal.

"Well, I'm mostly just doing this so mom stops nagging me about finding a wife already. I'm sure the same applies to you."

Those words have been replaying in your head for a while now. You've known Satoru only for about a year at that point, and even then it was mostly through social events you attended that he also happened to be attending.

So needless to say, it was simulaneously a complete surprise and completely expected when he suddenly gave your family a surprise visit to offer his hand in marriage.

You knew there was zero romantic feelings involved from the very beginning, so you know you shouldn't be surprised if Satoru wants to leave you for Lady Ichikawa, the girl he talks to almost every day. But your heart can't help but clench at the sight, and you wish Satoru could...

Nevermind.

You should be attending to your duties anyways.

You sighed, practically collapsing on your bed. Finance is not fun, to say the least. Being the Lady of the house is a suprisingly tiring job, and definitely gives you more respect for your mother.

The servants had already helped you change into your night gown, and you were perfectly ready to hit the hay right now.

As the servant put out the lights in the chandelier, you thought about Satoru again. The guy is an annoyingly persistent thought in the back of your head, that's for sure.

You haven't even talked in a week.

Sure, the two of you tend to get busy, but this essentially just proves to you what kind of marriage this is. If he did care about you, he would've checked up on you atleast once, wouldn't he..? You don't have a right to complain about it anyways, since you were the one who agreed to the marriage in the end. You should be grateful you even had a say in it.

As the servant closed the door behind you, you clutched the pillow in your hand. Maybe if you keep being useful, he won't discard you. You've only been thinking of yourself up until now. You just now realise that if he leaves you for Lady Ichikawa, you'll lose your family face.

This is shaping up to be a nightmare.

Suddenly, you hear a knock on the door. "Oiiii, can I come iiiin?"

Well, speak of the devil. You would recognise that voice anywhere. "Sure, come in." you said so, but did you want to face him right now? You felt conflicted, both really happy and really nervous.

As the door opened, you turned your head, his silhouette, illuminated by the lights in the doorway coming into view. "Man, it's dark in here. You're going to sleep so early?" he said casually as he turned on the oil lamp on your table.

You only nodded in response, looking at him with half wonder half suspicion. Why is he paying you a visit all of a sudden? "What..? Can't a husband visit his wife?" Satoru furrowed his brows, noticing your dimmly lit expression and sitting down on the edge of your bed.

"I'm happy you're here." You assured him. And you truly were.

"Right, of course you are." Satoru smirked boldly at you, but somehow, you could tell that he was relieved to hear it. He looked in front of him.

"I got you this." he said a little more quietly, handing you a book as you sat up in bed. But it wasn't just any book. "No way... how did you even get your hands on this?!" you blinked multiple times in the dim light, making sure your eyes weren't playing tricks on you.

When you realised how loud you just were, you quickly covered your mouth, and Satoru laughed at you for a bit before saying "I have my ways."

"That... doesn't answer the question. How much did this even cost?"

"...You shouldn't worry so much."

That idiot... You took another look at the book in your lap, the rare book you were trying to get your hands on for 3 years at this point. You can't help but wonder if the emergency finance work you had to do today has something to do with this.

"...Why?" you looked back up at him.

"Why what?" he flashed his usual smile at you, his white lashes fluttering as he gazed at you. This all seems... odd.

"Why did you get this for me? Why would you spend so much money on me? How did you even know I wanted this? What are you trying to do... here..." your last question died off as you saw his expression slowly shift to one of concern.

"You're... my wife? And I happen to know you want this? What kind of questions even are those, seriously." he scoffed, shaking his head.

"But... Lady Ichikawa..." why would he spend money on you when he could be putting it towards his future with Lady Ichikawa? Wait, why did you even start assuming that he'll leave you any minute to begin with? Gosh...

"Oh, her? Wait... are you jealous?" he raised his eyebrows playfully, leaning back. "Not really, I just thought that you... like her more than me." it felt strange finally admitting this to him.

"Ehhh.... She's just a friend, ya know. And I actually mean it. Why would I like her more?" Satoru looked as unaffected as ever, smiling at you. But beneath that nonchalant attitude and those shining blue eyes of his, you could feel confusion, doubt, and something else.

"You said in your proposal t-that... So I thought Lady Ichikawa..." all the turmoil that had been building up inside you for the last three months finally let loose, with you trying your best to speak through your tears. Isn't this pathetic?

"Shhh, I know what I said back then. But now that I actually have you, I dunno anymore. I wanna try out this whole love thing." Satoru moved up on the bed, moving over to your side and gently petting your head.

"In other words, you can stop crying now. Because I'm not letting you go anytime soon."

Houseki no Kuni Chapter 103 Thoughts: Can't Stop the Inevitable But It'll Be OK (Maybe...)

Hello hello hello. Long time no see, Houseki no Kuni fandom! How have you all been? It's been a while. That hiatus Ms. Haruko Ichikawa took much longer than expected. That's fine by me because I've been pretty busy these past few months. Mostly the usual stuff; had some major ups and downs for me and those who I care about, annoying work/life events, though I had the wonderful opportunity to branch out and meet people who could help me with my career, found some new stuff to obsess over, etc. I honestly forgot about Houseki no Kuni for a little while until I saw the announcement about the latest chapter.

And now here we are.

This chapter was very dialogue heavy, though fairly straightforward. It seems to confirm some of the thoughts and theories other fans and myself had made back in chapter 102, though I left me asking a few new questions. They aren't big questions, but I just can't help but wonder...

This will definitely be one of my shorter posts because I don't have any big analytical thoughts here, just with lots of pictures from the chapter, so I'll make sure to add the spoiler tag. As always, please feel free to share your own thoughts in this post and sorry in advance for any mistakes or ramblings. Might add more later, but I can't promise anything.

Anyways, here we go!

It'll Be OK: Liberation Of Internalized Suffering

The interaction in this chapter was interesting. Like I stated above, this chapter confirms that Phos is scared of corrupting the new rock species or being the catalyst that would cause humanity to come back. They don't want to be the source of suffering again, even if it meant destroying the very last remaining piece of their original self. They were ready to do whatever it took to prevent that from happening, even by having the entity who hated humanity do the deed.

But what surprised me a little in this chapter was Eyeball. For one, even though he could have fulfilled Phos's request, he didn't. He claims that there's only a trace of humanity on Phos's remaining piece, but states that it'd go away over time, therefore there's no reason to destroy it, even though Phos initially wanted that. I'll get back to this part later.

The other thing that surprised me was how Eyeball was able to placate Phos's current mindset, at least for a little bit, and he do it in an interesting way. Eyeball basically told Phos "Hey, your fear might come true... but it'll be okay. If if comes to that, I'll figure something out. And you shouldn't worry too much about it even if it happens because all things will come to an end one day, including us, and things will start over again in some way. There's no point in stressing about that future, so don't worry about it."

In some ways, I kind of see this as Eyeball liberating Phos by taking some of their burdens onto himself by him stating that he'd be the one to figure out what to do if humanity did come back, not Phos, all the while dispelling Phos's other concerns by stating that Phos shouldn't waste their time worrying about what could happen. Phos's fears might come true... but so what? That's just how things go. Somethings are just out of your control and change is inevitable. Yes, it's stressful to worry about but that's just how it is. That's the strange beauty of it all, at least that's how I see it.

And I don't know about you, but I just really liked Eyeball's monologue through these pages.

In the end, I think this interaction helped Phos by the fact that despite their fears, they chose to tell the pebbles about what the Professor said and humanity. Because even though Phos understands that humanity is capable of doing horrible things, thanks to their own experience as a sufferer and perpetrator, they also understand that there are parts of humanity that is capable of creating wonderful things. I'm glad that Phos is the one who wants to take this task. Despite everything, Phos is taking it upon themselves to be the one to teach these aspects to the pebbles so they can have the freedom to figure out how they can learn and evolve from this point onwards. It may lead to a better version of "humanity" or it could lead to something very similar. Who knows? But at least Phos is (hopefully) giving them what they need to figure themselves out.

What will come from this interaction is anyone's guess and I'm hoping we will soon see within the next, and hopefully last, couple of chapters.

The Last Piece Of The Past: Why Keep it?

One of the things that this chapter left me questioning was the final piece of the original Phosphophyllite. Not only is this the last remainder of Phos, but it may be the very last piece of the last human descendants; not just for the gems, but for the admirabilis and the lunarians. If what Eyeball said about the Lunarians intentionally leaving a piece of Phos's untarnished self behind is true, my question.. is why? Why did they leave this behind in Phos?

Was this for Phos's benefit somehow? Is it supposed to remind them of their origins or who they represented they obtained their final deity form? Or is the piece supposed to serve as some sort of artifact that could be beneficial for future organisms that would form over the course of time?

At this point, I have no clue. If anyone has any theories, please feel free to add them or post them!

That's honestly all that I have at this point in time for this post. I may come back to it and add more, but I can't promise anything. I don't know how my future posts for the hopefully last chapters will go, but I'll be honest... I can't wait to see it end. I enjoyed this story and I'm still looking forward to see what happens next, but I'm ready to it end.

Hopefully this will be the last hiatus Ms. Ichikawa will have and we'll be facing the true final stretch of this story.

In both the anime and the manga the artstyle is very different from what you can usually find, the anime is in 12 ep and in 3D (if you know trigun 2023 its THAT kind of 3D), the manga is also in 12 books (not finished yet) and Ichikawa artstyle is so interesting to analyse if you're an art nerd like me

The story is really cute <3 is what i would say if i stopped at ep 1, you have to experience it yourself, the anime stops at like half the story but i still recommend watching it

If you do watch the anime, the OST is really great, gives me BOTW kinda vibes (also the op is WOAH)

Kaiju No. 8 - The Beauty of a 32-Year Old Hero

When it comes to shonen manga, almost every protagonist is either a teenager or at most, a 20-something year old. However, in one shonen series, someone in their ‘30s is the main star. That manga is Naoya Matsumoto’s Kaiju No. 8 and its hero is a 32-year old man still trying to make his dreams come true.

Kafka Hibino, the protagonist, was once someone who aspired to be a member of the Defense Force to fight against kaiju. He has a childhood friend, Mina Ashiro, who had the same dream. Mina would achieve her dream by becoming a high-ranking Defense Force officer, while Kafka ended up becoming a kaiju disposal worker. One day at his job, Kafka meets a young, aspiring Defense Force member named Leno Ichikawa. The two formed a quick bond despite their age gap. Leno then tells Kafka that the age limit to be a Defense Force soldier was increased to 33. Kafka thought about chasing the dream again, but then he and Leno were attacked by a monster. Kafka saves Leno, but the monster somehow ends up inside Kafka’s body. Kafka suddenly gains the ability to become a very powerful kaiju as a result and decides to join the Defense Force with his newfound powers and catch up to Mina despite being the “enemy.”

It’s pretty cool to see this because there’s not enough middle-aged main heroes in shonen series worth highlighting. This is true in most Japanese media. Either they’re young or old. There’s no in-between. However, I will note that almost every shonen series is about chasing your dreams. Kafka is the same.

You can arguably say the important message from Kaiju No. 8 is that you’re never too old to still chase your dreams. Better late than never, right? I think of the people who have a lot of goals and dreams, only for them to stop chasing them or just be crushed by the weight of them. And then I remember something someone once said to me, “Sometimes, they were never given the opportunity to dream again or be able to chase it.” In Kafka’s case, meeting Leno and getting kaiju powers were those opportunities.

We’re all so bombarded with often mundane responsibilities that seek to limit our dream-seeking and our potential to help one another during times of great stress. We’re not built to be cogs for a world that won’t always think the best for us.

What shined for me with regards to Kaiju No. 8 is Kafka’s enthusiasm and the vulnerability that comes as a result of it. Because he is so ambitious about protecting people, Kafka has insecurities about what to do if he can’t protect anyone. There was a moment in the story where his kaiju powers were getting the best of him. While fighting a powerful kaiju, Kafka starts to become afraid of transforming out of fear of going berserk on his Defense Force comrades and hurting innocent people. One of Kafka’s fellow comrades, Kikoru Shinomiya, snaps him out of it by telling him not to think so little of those who are strong enough to handle themselves. Learn to trust others who can protect themselves.

I think the older we get, the more we tend to dislike a lot of people. It’s different in Kafka’s case, but I really like that this is a middle-aged character with a bunch of enthusiasm about helping people in need. I think Kafka is a timely character because we have a lot of anime/manga fans aging into their ‘30s and some still have that shonen mindset of wanting to make things happen.

While not giving up is always aspiring, the environment we’re placed in can sometimes make someone want to do so. That’s why I believe it’s important that institutions provide resources and opportunities to make middle-aged adults still feel like they matter. 4 years of college in your 20s’ should not be the end of learning and growing. I say this because ageism is still a huge problem in the world. There’s definitely cool people like Kafka out there, but sometimes, they just need a chance by others to prove themselves when they can’t find it themselves.

What’s interesting to me is that Kaiju No. 8 came off the heels of another property featuring a middle-aged hero in a genre that normally has young protagonists, Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The game starred a 40-year old former yakuza, Kasuga Ichiban, who falls out of luck with his triad family in Tokyo and tries to rebuild his life in Yokohama. It’s also a turn-based Japanese RPG, where middle-aged characters tend to be in the supporting roles. A lot of people (especially older adults) found this game refreshing because it’s about a group of middle-aged adults taking the stage to fight against a huge political conspiracy. The game’s sequel, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, continues this trend of older JRPG protagonists that are relatable to middle-aged adults.

Much like what the Like a Dragon games did for me, Kaiju No. 8 and Kafka show that adults can still do some great things despite some limitations. Sure, the other characters in the manga are great, but Kafka being the chosen hero at the age of 32 who can save everyone is what some readers and I are looking for. Naoya Matsumoto gave a great message about the manga’s appeal in that it’s for people dealing with the complexes of reality who are trying to create a future worth having. It’s not just about chasing dreams; it’s more about having some kind of realistic optimism for life and the people who are doing their best.

No matter what age we’re at, we should be given a chance to decide what we want to better ourselves and the world.

you have given me so much free rein so im gonna talk endlessly amd probably rb this to talk abt more duos because i have a lot of thoughts about a lot of guys

ok first imma gonna scream abt ichikawa and iharu from kaiju no. 8 because they have been holding my brain hostage imma put the chart and then scream abt them in read more

GOD WHERE DO I EVEN START

ichikawa is such a naturally caring person and this extends to iharu who he does not fet along with AT ALL at the start of the series because iharu is projecting his insecurities onto ichikawa pretty hard, and he's still working through that, but they grow extremely close very rapidly because they're thrust into an extremely traumatic life or death situation with practically no mental preperation, they're told that people can and will die on the job but they still can't really process it until experiencing it first hand themselves

ichikawas caring nature shows up very hard in this fight as he continuously tries to save iharu and gets his shit acsolutely rocked because of it, but iharus biggest struggle is that hes been protected his whole life and is so fucking sick of it

after all this they're both still pretty at odds with each other but they've been through something that the rest of their team havent experienced and it made them really close, more importantly for both of their arcs, it REALLY mellowed iharu out, mostly because now he's seen what it takes to grow and hes started to realize that he just doesnt have that, hes beggining to understand that hes going to be left behind by everyone around him, no matter how much it upsets him

when ichikawa fails the first weapon aptitude test, iharu is actually very relieved, theres still at least a small window if time where he'll still be even near ichikawas level

but even after all of his conflicting feelings and hatred of being left behind he STILL CARES ABOUT ICHIKAWA SO DEEPLY!! his reaction to ogatas suggestion that ichikawa stops trying to use weapon no. 6 is out of envy of his power, but it is also out of real, genuine concern for the person he cares about most, despite everything that happens, iharu still tries to keep the mood light for ichikawas sake, he tries to joke around with him after kafka gets taken from them, and he always tries to keep him safe despite ichikawa being better at protecting him

(also hes the only person that calls iharu by his first name just putting that out there)

this all isnt to say that iharu is the only one with very strong feelings towards the other, ichikawas desire to protect iharu is a part of his general wish to keep everyone around him safe no matter what, but he also seems to feel deeply in debt to iharu and very clearly understands him better than the rest of their squad. most of the team writes him off as someone brash because hes competitive when ichikawa understands that hes really just an airhead with very deep insecurities, and as such gives him a pass on pretty much every time iharu tries to provoke him, with pretty much everyone else, he'd yell at them or snap, telling them to calm down or cut it out, but his reaction to iharu is much more of a 'yeah yeah get it out of your system'

his reaction to iharu trying to show him up is very muted compared to everyone else and this attitude only increases as the series goes on, iharu constantly getting up in arms about things and ichikawa just kind of going with it, not doing much to stop him while simultaneously almost immediately stopping anyone else from doing the same thing

ROBOT MASTER ROUND UP PART 2

Today we're gonna be running through Doctor Wily's first set of combat robots! That's not the only notable thing though, we're going to list the real world creators of these robot masters. Every Mega Man game after 1 and before 9 had a contest to create boss characters! Like always we'll be using their Mega Man & Bass bios with added information.

DWN.009: METAL MAN (メタルマン)

Based on Cut Man, he is the first model built by Wily. However, he had a flaw: he was weak against the Mega Buster... And also due to the power of his own weapon he was weak to it himself.

He saw you standing next to his bed with cross arms. He sat up and rubbed his eyes. When he looked back at you, he can clearly see the worry and disappointment in your facial expression.

"I thought you said you'll take it easy on your training." Ichikawa sighed and looked at his hands. "You need to stop pushing yourself to the point of damaging your health. One of these days you won't be able to walk anymore."

"But I have to get stronger. I can't let my friends and comrades get badly hurt all because I can't do anything." He clenched his fist.

"So are you saying you don't believe in your team? In their own strength? Look, you don't have to push this hard. Can you look at the positive in your training? You have been going up the ranks and you're improving a lot." You smiled and place a hand onto his.

"But I'm still not strong enough..."

You sighed and removed your hand from his. "Le-"

"I NEED TO GET STRONGER TO PROTECT PEOPLE AND I WONT STOP UNTIL IM STRONG ENOUGH! SO CAN YOU JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP AND LET ME TRAIN!!" Ichikawa yelled at you. Your eyes widen in shock from his outburst. You backed away from his bed. You clenched your fist and glared at him.

"Fine... I'll see you at your funeral." You walked out of the room.

Ichikawa snapped out of his anger and his eyes widened. "Wait y/n I'm-" you slammed the door shut. Ichikawa place his hand onto his face and let out a groan. "Dammit!!" He sighed. "I fucked up...."

Few days past and Ichikawa still trains but not as hard anymore

He even leaves his training earlier than he should be to look for you

You have been giving Ichikawa the cold shoulder during the few days

He tried to apologize to you multiple times but you just walked away from him

That was until he didn't bother you for two days

You noticed that you missed his company so you went out searching for him for the whole day but you couldn't find him

But what surprised you was in your own home

You unlocked the door and walked into your home. The smell of food hit your nose when you walked in. When you was walking towards the kitchen you heard food sizzling. You walk into the kitchen to see your boyfriend cooking dinner.

You smiled and walked up behind him and hugged him. He flinched a little but he saw the bracelet he gave you on your wrist. He relaxed. "Welcome home."

You buried your faced into his shoulder/back. "I missed you..." You mumbled. He smiled and turned off the stove.

Blog Post #10: The Burmese Harp by Ichikawa Kon

This film certainly piqued my interest after hearing about it because many of the articles and books we read from Professor Smith’s class last year had strong connections to war; both arguments for post-war and anti-war standpoints. The Burmese Harp was quite a jarring story as it depicts the state of Japanese soldiers during Japan’s siege to capture Burma in 1942. While the conquest was a great success for the Japanese nation, it left certain soldiers displaced due to British intervention. One of those displaced was the film’s main character, Mizushima, who played the Burmese Harp for his soldier friends during times of hardship to raise everyone’s spirits. However, when Mizushima was tasked with convincing other Japanese troops to surrender, he failed and was captured by British soldiers. He was found by Burmese monks and was raised again with the same ideals, causing Mizushima to undergo a complete transformation. While he was able to return to Japan in the end, Mizushima is still haunted by those times of war.

I thought this film was a great depiction of anti-war ideals, and I liked how it took a much more creative approach to discussing the topic. I feel you can compare this film with Ooka Shohei’s Fire on the Plains because, while it was adapted into a film by Ichikawa Kon, the same director who made the Burmese Harp, they both dive very deep into themes of anti-war. To me, the Burmese Harp stands out a little bit more because of the different approach Ichikawa took for the main character. I liked how Mizushima was able to become the oppressed by adopting the lifestyle of a Buddhist monk, and that way he was able to realize the impacts of what Japan was really doing during the war. Ichikawa let viewers see a little more into the lives of the Japanese soldiers and make us understand that they are human and that in times of war, sometimes people don’t have the opportunity to stop and think about what they’re doing in the moment. Mizushima realized after he became a monk the sheer amount of atrocities he committed, and how from now on he was going to devote himself to making amends for all he’s done.

Also, because I like talking about it lol, I loved how the film was rooted in Buddhist themes and how we got to see Mizushima change as a character by adopting Buddhist ideals. This is where you can also see some similarities between Life of Oharu and the Burmese Harp because it shows how both main characters interacted with the idea of impermanence and the cycle of suffering but through two very different stories. One follows the downward spiral of a woman being rejected by society, and the other follows an ex-soldier repenting for his sins. I believe Ichikawa was trying to express something similar to what Mizoguchi did in his film, on how Buddhism gave both characters the option to heal and start over again. While we don’t see this in Life of Oharu as it isn’t until the end of the film where she accepts her fate, it’s prevalent that Mizushima’s life changed after adopting this practice and helped him atone for his wrongdoings.

Same name, same face. What a joke, a man thought as he looks up to the ceiling as he lies his body on his bed. The fluffy texture of the bed relaxed his body, yet, it still cannot erase the bitterness that lingers on his mind. That Demon... he must be laughing at me in his own ‘world’ right now.

[And it’s true. The Demon the man referred to is laughing at him right now. But ‘Demon’? He is a bit offended that his best friend referred him to that.]

?: Arisa...

?: ....no. None of my business. This world and that Arisa are not my business.

[Are you sure?]

Not that the man did actually hear that voice, yet, it stuck on his mind on its own to ponder.

[Kaito, my dear friend. How much fun would it be for me to watch you if you did actually involve yourself to that Arisa?]

Kaito: ...

[Oh right, this world Arisa also has an acquaintance named ‘Kaito’ too. Though unfortunately it’s not you. Haha. But they are close, y’know? Bearing the same name, wouldn’t it make you happy?]

He sighed as he closed his eyes to get rid of the image of that Demon’s smirking face.

But then, her face is coming up into his mind instead.

Arisa of the Alternate World.

Forget about her. She is not your Arisa. Your Arisa is long dead. He said to himself over and over again. And yet, he couldn’t. Her mere similar existence brings both joy and his nightmare back. This must be that Demon’s prank. Stop messing around and die already.

[I am though? Well, at least in your Original World. Hahaha.]

To think he would actually find a similar existence. Moving to another World still binds him to ‘Arisa’ somehow.

‘Ichikawa Arisa’.

The Arisa of this Alternate World he moved to.

He knows nothing of her. Nothing. He didn’t even want to know how she actually looks like. He just happened to see her. That’s all. He doesn’t want to know deeper. They might look similar, they might be actually the same person, but it doesn’t matter and he doesn’t care. He just, doesn’t want to get in touch with her anymore. Be it Arisa in the Original World that already perished nor Arisa in the Alternate World he resides now.

Arisa of the Original World.

His Original World. It is long gone now. He might be some kind of immortal, but if the world is destroyed then he would die too. His world perished because his wicked friend was playing around too much. So then, he moved to other World as the lone survivor. He referred the new World he resides now as ‘Alternate World’.

[Hey, don’t go pushing all the blame to me~!]

In any case, he is an abnormality in the Alternate World. He knows better not to make trouble unlike his wicked friend, especially since in this World who has no people like him who can do ‘stuffs’, therefore, he stays as low as possible. He may feel curious with the new World but at least he would take easy on it. Just a bit travelling then a long nap would be enough. There is nothing to be worried about. He is confident that no one in this Alternate World could take him down. This time, he will create a quiet place and spend his time peacefully until he decided his own time of death.

Andrew didn’t create a big fuss but it was still annoying anyway.

He didn’t know if it was Andrew’s influence or his wicked friend’s influence.... but not long after that, Arisa is born to this Alternate World.

Tales of Kamiya dojo is written by Kaoru Kurosaki and published along with “Rurouni Kenshin Hokkaido” arc in JUMPSQ. The tale involved Rurouni Kenshin character in daily life that takes time between Kenshin and Kaoru marriage until the epilogue chapter in original manga before Hokkaido Arc. Until this month (Feb 2022) there are a total 51 chapters in Tales of Kamiya dojo. This is an unofficial translation.

"O Edo~ Nihonbashi~ Tanabatadachi~"

In the backyard of the Kamiya Dojo, Ichiwaka sang in a lustrous voice while washing clothes in a tub of water.

It has been a few days since she came to live at the dojo. When she first arrived, she was in tears, saying she had to go back to her husband.

After an unsuccessful argument between Megumi, who said that ‘she didn’t know what he will do to Ichiwaka if she went back now’ and Ichiwaka, who said that ‘her husband needed her’, Misao decided to go check on Ichiwaka’s husband.

The result.

“He was eating tempura”

With just one word from Misao, Ichiwaka stopped saying that she was going to go home and decided to stay at Kamiya Dojo for a while.

Ichiwaka was vaguely thinking about her husband in this way.

The reason why he prepared beautiful western clothes and let her learn to dance was because he needed her.

She was forbidden to meet with her geisha friends in order to become a respectable lady.

He punched, kicked, and strangled her because Ichiwaka did not meet his expectations.

Like Megumi said, maybe I really was out of my mind... I thought I was happy because I was married to a rich man, but I don't know how happy I was when I couldn't even play the shamisen”

“Let's play the shamisen”

Kaoru said firmly.

“Do you have one?”

“I don't have it here right now. I think I can borrow it from one of the neighbors”

“I want to play it!”

Ichiwaka's eyes lit up.

When she first came to Kamiya Dojo, she was crying or in a daze, but little by little, she could hum, she could do what she wanted to do, and her eyes shone. Her willpower was steadily getting better and better.

“Me too, I didn’t hold a shinai for a while after giving birth* to Kenji, so I know how you feel. When I practiced with all my might for the first time in a long time, I felt so refreshed. That's why I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun when you play the shamisen for the first time in a while.”

She cleared her throat and started playing the shamisen .

“O Edo~ Nihonbashi~”

This was a popular folk song that interwaved the Tokaido Road's inn towns from Nihonbashi to Kyoto.

“Oh, I'm glad to know so many names of familiar towns”

Misao smiled.

She had traveled along the Tokaido Road before, so she must have listened to Ichiwaka's song with those memories.

“Thank you for your time”

When the song was over, Ichiwaka bowed.

“As expected, you're really good”

Megumi also smiled. As a doctor, she was glad to see that Ichiwaka was recovering both physically and mentally.

“It's been a while since you could sing, so it feels good, right?”

Misao pointed to the furoshiki wrapping that Ichiwaka was holding.

There was a shamisen with the skin torn and the stick broken cruelly.

“He… I should have listened to my husband, but I disobeyed him. It's all my fault”

Ichiwaka broke down in tears.
