Today marks my Instagram fan-account’s one year anniversary! I just want to thank you all so much for all of your support. I honestly have no idea what I did to deserve all of your kindness, but either way I Iove you all so much! A lot you liked the idea of me making a Marauders fanfic, so here it is! Hopefully you all like it :)

It’s hard to believe that it has been almost a year since we were all together. And I mean actually together, not just at an Order meeting- I mean laughing and smiling and enjoying the little things in life. The last time we were actually together like that was about a month before James and I’s wedding. We were all out on a relaxing picnic, not worrying about the worsensing war. Marlene was there, Dorcas was there, Remus and Sirius were there, and Alice, Frank, Mary, and Peter were there. We were all together and happy.

Before I even realize it, tears begin to fall down my cheeks. It’s been almost two weeks since all of the McKinnon’s were announced dead- almost two weeks since one of my closest friends was murdered. I miss Marlene a lot more than the others realize. She was like a sister to me, always so kind and protective. When Petunia sent me an awful letter calling me a freak in fifth year, it was her and Sirius that made me feel better. When Severus called me a mudblood, she was the one to comfort me afterwards. Marlene has helped me through so much, yet I couldn’t help her or her family when she needed me most.

I’ve been trying to stay strong for the others- especially Dorcas. Marlene and Dorcas were engaged and were planning to have a wedding once all of this was over, unfortunately they’ll never get to see that day. I honestly haven’t seen much of her since I got the news, but I know it must be really hard for them. If something like that were to happen to James, I’d be devastated.

I haven’t seen much of the others here lately either. I suppose that we all have been just going through a lot. Remus and Sirius have had a lot of missions for the Order here recently, so we haven’t talked face-to-face in weeks. The last time I did see them, they seemed exhausted and a bit depressed, and nothing at all like the two laughing boys that they were at that picnic. The same goes for Mary, Alice, and Frank. They all used to be so cheerful and happy, now everything seems to be different.

“Ah come on Lils, it would just be for a day,” Sirius laughs as he lays his head on Remus’ lap.

“For the last time, Black I am not trading you boyfriends, even if it's just for a day,” I replied, trying not to laugh as well. I saw Remus attempt to fight a smile from behind his book.

“What do you have against Remus?” Alice asks as she makes herself and Frank a crown of daisies.

“It’s not that I have anything against Remus, I just dislike the idea of Sirius and James being together, unsupervised.” This time I do laugh a bit. James takes my hand into his own and laughs too.

“I agree with Lily on this one. The idea of Sirius and James being alone together is pretty much just asking for them to get arrested by muggle police,” Remus mumbles as he sits his book down. He’s not wrong either. Last summer James and Sirius somehow managed to get arrested in their animagi forms when they were by themselves for a few hours.

“Lils, I’ve been thinking” Marlene starts to say as she sits up. “We all know Dorcas and I will be the next ones here to be married, so you might as well give me the bouquet at your wedding. Then Cas and I will have an excuse to get married even sooner than we were originally planning,” Dorcas rolls her eyes at their girlfriend, looking equally annoyed and flattered. Suddenly Sirius sits up and attempts to argue with her.

“Excuse me? Obviously I’ll be the next one to be getting married, so if anything she should give it to me,”

“I won’t be giving it to anyone, I’m just going to throw it like normal.” I say, knowing that it won’t end their bickering.

“I suppose I’ll just have to fight you for it then,” Sirius laughs.

“Ha, like you could win a fight against me,” Marlene teases him.

“My moneys on Marlene.” Remus mumbles.

“Seriously? I’m your boyfriend, yet you’re going to side with her,” Sirius says dramatically.

“You really don’t stand a chance. Marlene is mean and has a hell of a right hook. I should know seeing that she’s punched me before,” James adds as he lays on his back.

“Well you shouldn't have caused us to lose the quidditch match if you didn’t want to be punched” Mary retorts “I would've done it myself if Marls hadn’t beaten me to it,” They add. . James sticks his tongue out at them and everyone starts to laugh as the sun begins to set. I really couldn’t ask for better friends.

“I finally got Harry to lay down for a nap.” James snaps me back to reality as he walks into our living room “Are you alright, honey?” He asks me softly as he takes notice of how red and blotchy my eyes are. I take a deep breath in and try to collect my thoughts as I try to calm down a bit so I don’t let everything out and concern him any further.

“Well, it’s just-” I feel tears running down my cheeks again. James quickly wipes them away and embraces me in a hug.

“I promise that everything is going to be okay,” He kisses my cheek softly as he tries to cheer me up.

“How can everything be okay again now that Marlene is gone? Now that everyone I care about is in danger and risking their lives just like she did? When all of my friends are absolutely miserable all because of some stupid war? How can I just forget all that has happened like it was all nothing?” I accidentally snap at him. He quickly stops hugging me and looks up at me softly.

“Lily, I’m so sorry. I know that forgetting all of this, forgetting everything we lost isn’t possible, but that doesn’t mean things can’t get better for us and the friends we still have,” James tries to apologize. He takes my hands in his own and intertwines our fingers together.

“You- you don’t need to be sorry love. I shouldn’t have snapped at you like that. It’s- It’s just that things have been tough here lately and I’ve been going through a lot emotionally,” I sniffle as he wipes another tear off my face.

“I know. Things have been pretty rough for me too. Sirius hasn’t talked to me all month, and with everything that has happened with Marlene, I’m starting to really worry for him and Alice, Frank, Peter, and Remus. The best we can do right now is stay hopeful. As hard as it is to stand by and watch, we have no other choice right now. I promise you once this war is over, things will get much better for all of us,”

“You really think so?”

“I know so,” James comes a bit closer towards me and plants a soft kiss on my hand. When he looks back up at me I start to smile a bit.

“I love you so much,” I whisper as I rest my head on his shoulder.

“I love you too,” He replies softly. Things may be tough, but at least I’ll always have James with me.
