#I thought on forgiveness in undertale and I like this interpretation of it

I waited for you... and you never showed up.
[TAPP AU Masterpost]
After all, what fun is a game you're forced to play?
There was always at least one kid leaning way too far back at their desk in high school, did you guys have that too?
Had this nightmare sequence stuck in my head for Quite Some Time Now, and I'm so glad to finally show you! I did have 'Snowy' on the Undertale soundtrack looping, because I love that ambiance that you get in like, the garden section of a hardware store after midnight; where you logically know this sprawling place has to be finite but you can't see its limits. The overhead lights were placed there by someone, whether they're long gone or, maybe, they can see you right now. Everything is unnaturally bright in this approximation of a familiar scene, it's too manicured, too clean, are the same few trees repeating? There's snow, but no clouds. Rustling leaves without wind. There's no outright threat but your skin crawls nonetheless with sheer anticipation.
Eerie.
There's also a few little things sprinkled in, like the press having a masking-tape label like a boxed specimen, or Miu as a pinned and labelled butterfly in the frame under it. "K. Ouma tergiversator" and "M. Iruma sterterous " sound kind of like scientific names, I guess. I was going to make a bunch of green butterflies, but kind of changed what they meant in my mind (it's up for interpretation) partway-through. I think I like it better this way.
That fuzzy text isn't vital it's a little back-and0forth between Shuichi and Kaito respectively: "Should we call someone?" and "Give him a minute, man, this isn't even the first time."
Also, the String of Fate is pink, not red, because their blood is pink. In the simulation, at least. Let's not find out if it still applies!
Tumblr media
So this doesn't answer your question in its totality, but maybe there's a little more insight into that first half? "It's Complicated", but most of it on one-side. So much happened during TAPP that I'm not positive Shuichi actually remembers saying all that to Kokichi, and Kichi has not stopped thinking about it ever since. He wants to trust Shuichi, really, but... doesn't. Man will pursue the truth no matter who it hurts, and even if he won Kokichi doesn't quite forgive him for solving his 'unsolvable' murder. He gave up everything to orchestrate it, after all, the thought that he and Kaito both died and the game continued....
So still on a surname basis, but wanting to nickname him a little more than standard anyway. Half-and-half, almost. Trustworthy with a question mark.

I’m glad you’re back with your criticisms, I’ve always like reading them because you make extremely valid points.
I know I’m only one person, but as a BKDK shipper I’m so sorry about how we treat other people within this fandom. It’s like you can’t even have an opinion here anymore without someone knocking you down. And yes, all my BKDK thoughts are completely fanon and personal interpretations, but canon Bakugo is an asshole and it should be talked about, because the fact of the matter is that Izuku SHOULDNT forgive him and anything he’s done to him.
When it comes to shipping in the MHA community, I don’t think it’s solely a BkDk problem. The reason I rag on BkDk Stans is cause they’re the loudest and have the most influence over the fandom. The shipping wars and the harassment that comes from it is more of a problem with the MHA fandom. There’s nothing wrong with shipping something, but people have to learn when to separate fiction from reality. For example, you know that your ship isn’t canon and your thoughts are from personal interpretations and your own head-canons. In the same vein, my favorite MHA ship has not interacted a single time from what I can recall and I only ship it cause I like both the characters in it and because of my own head-canons. Liking a ship isn’t the problem as long as you can differentiate between canon and non-canon while also respecting opinions that differ from yours. The MHA fandom somehow doesn’t quite understand this. I’d say it’s cause they’re young teens, but I’ve seen grown ass adults obsess over ships as if it’s their lifelines.
To really emphasize on the unhealthiness of MHA’s shipping community, let’s pick on the two biggest groups, BkDk Stans and IzuOcha Stans, cause ultimately, the two communities are different sides of the same coins. Reminder that I’ll be talking about Stans, not fans.
BkDk Stans are, simply put, delusional. Never have I seen a group of stans insist that their non-canon ship is canon more than I have BkDk stans. They’re the champions of mental gymnastics and they’ll do everything they can to argue why BkDk is endgame. They make shit up about both characters (such as how Katsuki bullied Izuku to protect him and how Izuku deserves to be bullied) and are so wrapped up in their fantasies that they ignore canon evidence. In fact, they become outright hostile towards it and will lash out immediately if someone even mentions they don’t like the ship outside of their bubbles. It’s as if criticizing the ship is like criticizing someone’s religion. They also have huge victim complexes too. You call one out for being a dick to you and there’ll be a swarm of them harassing you instead.
If BkDk Stans are delusional, IzuOcha stans are arrogant. They know IzuOcha’s the endgame ship, and it causes them to have a superiority complex. They look down on other ships for not being canon. If you say you don’t like IzuOcha, they’ll slam you with evidence of why it’s canon. Part of their drive comes from homophobia too. MHA’s fandom has a lot of gay shippings, most of them revolving around Izuku. IzuOcha stans see this and will immediately point out that Izuku is straight as another “haha gotcha” and “this is why IzuOcha’s the best” moment. Sure, in canon you can say Izuku is straight, but why does that matter? If people wanna make him gay, trans, etc. in their own fanfics, there’s nothing wrong with that. Whereas BkDk stans are too wrapped up in their delusions, IzuOcha stans are too wrapped up with canon and won’t let people do what they want.
Ultimately, MHA has a huge problem with the culture around shipping. Something about the series makes people go bonkers when it comes to shipping in ways that exceed fandoms with similar issues such as Danganronpa and Undertale.

about my story, "ryan: sins of the father"!
this is a story about a boy named ryan, finally facing the crimes of his father. for so long he idolized his father, saw him as perfection, but slowly that image will unravel. along the way, he'll unravel himself, as well. can ryan ever forgive himself? can ryan ever be a good person? can ryan be a good brother? can ryan be a good lover? let's find out!
note: this is a multi-fandom fic, where characters will be from and travel to various movies/shows/games. the main characters are undertale aus/headcanons; ryan himself and his brother are sans and papyrus aus respectively, and their father is gaster. they're not meant to be entirely accurate (i mean, for one, it's unlikely that canon sans and papyrus are fallen humans at all.), they've always just been my own interpretations of the characters. with heavy projection. with that in mind, i should also state that this has been in the works since 2015-2016 or so, so it's pretty self-indulgent and cringe but i like it that way!!! i've projected too heavily onto this and i'm constantly brainrotting it so i can't just abandon it!!!
Tumblr media
the star of the show, my behated /neg, it's ryan gallagher! the 23 year old manfailure, whose personality i would describe but it's almost 7,000 words long what the fuck ryan!!!! (writing him was a pain holy shit) but to sum it up he's a little messed up lying bitchface (explodes him with my mind) i will insult him a lot but i also projected onto him extremely heavily so idk if that says a lot about me or not. um. it's a semi-joke and it's been long-running that i hate him (i have extremely strong feelings about him /neg) but it's (mostly) not really serious. this guy needs therapy but he's terribly in denial and he is committed to destroying himself and all of his relationships before that happens 🙄 like just stop lying lmao (i am a hypocrite) his backstory is not written yet because. i'm fucking terrified of how long that's going to take and how long it's going to be because i'm planning for all of the stuff that felix and wiley's backstories missed (they're kind of written from their perspective but also not because third person??? idk man) and holy shit. if you thought his personality was bad. or if you thought it wasn't as bad as the trigger warnings made it seem. they're mostly for the backstory. as a sans au he fucking lost it and killed frisk, but that exploded his timeline so he panicked and absorbed the souls, and he's here now ig do not go to his toyhouse i am begging
Tumblr media
aaaaa it's him!!!!! felix gallagher!!!! the bestest ever <333 i love him sm /p this is ryan's younger brother, 22 years old and loving life!!! he's optimistic, loves to help, and totally doesn't have any sort of anxieties rooted from his brother manipulating his life!!! (he does) he seems quite confident and independent, but he feels like ryan's babying can undermine his individuality. at the same time, he doesn't like to think such things of his brother, surely ryan knows what's best for him? as a papyrus au, he befriended flowey and gained the courage to fight back against frisk and absorb the seven souls to fix his glitched timeline, but that backfired, so here he is now! felix toyhouse :]
Tumblr media
aislinn gallagher, felix and ryan's mother, dearly missed ;-; she may be gone, but her absence has left a void in many a heart, and her short-lived presence in the gallaghers' lives has affected them deeply. visit her in the garden?
Tumblr media
this is wiley gallagher, he's 43 years old and i might joke about how much ryan is a terrible person but i'm serious when i say this man is literally AWFUL. like. i'm not kidding. he has not a single redeeming quality and not in the "haha silly" kind of way i mean. i hope literally nobody likes him because actually. what the fuck. i wrote him to be an irredeemable disgusting piece of shit and he's staying that way. there are sympathetic aspects to his story because otherwise it'd be a bit boring y'know but like. straight up. he's not a good person. he's the villain for a reason lmao uhhhh ramble aside he's a scientist who hates his sons and wants to reach the edge of scientific possibility, whether or not that destroys the universe he doesn't really care (great guy). he just wants to be the smartest dick to have ever lived, and hold all of the scientific knowledge ever or something like that. egotistical with an overinflated sense of what he's capable of. writing his backstory actually made me sick like /srs i took "gaster is associated with the devil" and ran with it i'd advise only to go to his toyhouse to send him hate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so r:sotf was originally not even a multifandom story, it was just an undertale multiverse story, which is why there's such a focus on undertale characters. so here's chara, flowey/asriel, and frisk dreemurr, and the other fallen children (noah, icarus, and madeline)!!! i've never liked how the fandom interprets chara personally, like the whole "chara is an evil demon child" or "chara is abusive and hateful" like. this is a ten year old. what the fuck. like yeah most of the ut fandom especially back then were children but why do children hate children lmao anyway. chara and flowey have issues to work out but they're getting through it!!! i believe in them. read more about my interpretations of chara, flowey/asriel, and frisk on deviantart (since i can't upload them to toyhouse)!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
meet ginger clair and jacinta bardales, two rivals who are some of the first people that ryan meets once his (dead) timeline kicks him out!! the girlypop and gamer goth girl hate each other oh no :[ the 19 and 20 year olds have a bit of a history with each other and ryan's getting caught between the crossfire ginger is glittery pink mr beast and jacinta is matpat if he was a goth lesbian (i'm so sorry) i'm very normal about women here's pink toyhouse and purple toyhouse yeah
Tumblr media
this isn't hello kitty, it's oisin kelly, silly!!! i saw hello kitty goth fashion once and knew that i needed to make an oc that was just. that. and here he is!! ryan meets the 22 year old in the world after ginger and jacinta's, where he also finds felix and flowey. oisin is hiding them from the government!!! yippee! oisin likes baking and cake decorating, and sees a lot of potential in ryan (i don't see it but you do you) and bow's trying to support him which is nice :] not worth it though me when hello kitty on toyhouse????
Tumblr media
yes that is the ok ko character base, because edward chen is an ok ko oc!!!! (ok ko is such a silly show you should watch it NOW!!!!) his hero name is multi-magician and this 23 year old is very chill, maybe even stoned. (you know those characters where they're ambiguously high. yeah) yes ryan and felix go to the ok ko universe and there they meet edward who is very cool and just wants to make sure these two sillies don't hurt themselves. (particularly ryan because he's very concerning holy shit) the scar on his face he got from climbing a fence and subsequently falling. he tells a different story every time and he thinks it's cool and funny edward toyhouse be upon ye
Tumblr media
last but not least!!! here we have elara samson, from the world of the spectacular spider-man. she's the 18 year old vigilante, who thinks spidey is immature and naive, and they're quite jaded and vengeful in general. sometimes they're on the same side as spidey, sometimes she's against him! just depends on the job. elara toyhouse moment
that's all, folks!! as i said in the beginning of this post, this has been in the works for like. what. 8 years now??? time is such a fucked concept wtf :[ and it's still being worked on!!! can you believe it??? but this is definitely the story i'm most passionate about, and i'm excited to finally be posting about it!! i'd love to see what you guys think :0

Asriel, Biblical References, and his character arc
Tumblr media
One of the things I've appreciated the most about Undertale since first playing it is Asriel/Flowey's character. But while our favorite goat-flower child is understandably one of the more popular characters in the Foxverse, one aspect of his character I don't see discussed as much are the Biblical references and potential allegory related to him. And, while I do see references to his redemption arc on occasion, I don't believe it's given the light that it deserves. So today, I just wanna talk a little bit about Asriel "Flowey" Dreemurr and the depth given to his arc in Undertale.
The first name, "Asriel," can be connected back to the Hebrew name "Azriel." This name, first and foremost, means "God is my help." The reason why this works so well for his character is that he resurrected as Flowey. While it's certainly due to the DETERMINATION injections, Asriel being given a second chance at life through arguably miraculous circumstances gives his name origin all the more meaning. I understand that his name can also mean "Angel of Death" if one were to observe the Islamic and some Jewish beliefs. Considering Asriel's strongest form in the final battle, it would make sense on that note. However, as a Christian myself, the rendering of "God is my help" not only connects with me on a personal level far more, but I also believe is more poignant in regard to his arc. This is due to the grace given to him and an opportunity to still be redeemed even with all he did in his Flowey form (and hyperdeath and death angel forms as well). This links into my favorite part of Asriel's character: his redemption arc.
Tumblr media
Despite all Asriel did, he still broke the barrier and freed all monsterkind. Not only that, but he made friends with Frisk and the soon-to-be ambassador of monsters comforts and forgives Asriel. We also see where Asriel vows to keep his promise of not killing people anymore ("don't kill and don't be killed"), and considering how Asriel/Flowey is kind again at game reopen, we have full confidence that his redemption arc is here to stay. I've also explained before that since true pacifist is open-ended, and considering how much Frisk loves and cares for the monsters as ambassador, it's only a matter of time until Asriel gets his real body back or at the very least settles in with Toriel again. It's left open to interpretation but still hopeful, given how Frisk isn't the kind of kid to forget about friends or loved ones. But in any event, Asriel's redemption arc is by far my favorite character arc in the game. The reason why this is so sweet to me is that it reminds us that anybody can be redeemed. No matter what someone's past is, they can still be redeemed and be better.
Tumblr media
On the redemption arc note, while people have connected Asriel to Christ-like references (with the barrier-breaking and fulfilling the prophecy of letting all monsters be free, the "Angel" mentioned in the prophecy possibly being a label inspired from Christ being the "Angel of the Lord" in Scripture), or on the other hand, Satan-like references due to him being Flowey (a fallen being who was good but then turned evil), I don't think either comparison quite lines up. While I *do* understand why people make said comparisons to either Biblical figure, I don't think either figure is the best choice for a Biblical figure reference. If you ask me, the Biblical figure Asriel most squarely aligns with is actually the apostle Paul. Here's why: -Both are known for committing murder multiple times. -Both have nicknames or alternate names used when they were at their lowest point (Asriel went by the nickname "Flowey", while Paul used to go by "Saul"). -Despite their past, they're still given a chance to be redeemed. -Both end up being redeemed in the end and enter a new phase of life where they're finally on the right track, no longer being vengeful or blood-thirsty like they used to be. While it's definitely not a perfect analogy, I personally like to use these thoughts as a reference to how anyone can be redeemed. Even the lowest of the low can be redeemed, which is a fundamental aspect of why I not only write Christian allegory and references in my own works, but also because it's a hopeful message.
Tumblr media
That's all from me for now. Take care and stay DETERMINED, my friends. (I don't own any amount of the Foxverse, whether UT or DR. Commissioned art at the end is from a friend, codenamed A.S. She requested to stay private).

Review Blurbs: The Owl House Finale!
This is quite late but here it is, my assortment of random thoughts and screenshots from the finale.
-For one, the music was phenomenal; I feel like the crew really leaned into the fantasy elements for the soundtrack and it worked very well!
-The animation was gorgeous as usual, especially for the final battle (I adored everyone's outfits this episode). The finale went all out with the set and character designs so there is no shortage of stuff to draw once I get into sketching!
-Speaking of the final battle, you could tell they wanted something action packed but not repetitive to other final fight scenes. Luz wasn't just punching the hell out of Belos, she was aiming to separate him from the heart so he'd be powerless, while Eda helped her stronghold her way to him as King and Raine kept up defenses. Its an interesting juxtaposition from how Luz imagined her "epic fight scenes" from the very first episode of the show, where she's firing a bazooka at a giant monster with explosions going off and all the works; even though this final fight scene was flashy, the ultimate goal was to destabilize Belos into a weaker form so he couldn't cause any more harm, and I feel like that in itself show's Luz's growth as a person with a more grounded head on her shoulders.
-Very surprised that the show actually killed off Belos. Like, no imprisonment, no open-ended interpretation; they legit watched him corrode from acid rain and then curb stomped him to death. That's one helluva message to send in a kid's show (which I elaborated on in this post), and its very bold of the crew considering how strongly media tends to push for pacifism in children's content. Networks don't want kids thinking death is justified for bad people until they're at least old enough to understand the severity of taking a life, and I honestly can understand where they're coming from. However, that scene definitely did work very well when it comes to Luz's character (my thoughts are on the linked post) which is why I understand the decision to do it for the sake of storytelling. So yeah, very bold move that I think could've been executed better, but can't say I'm not very impressed.
-Ok, on to screenies!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am unhealthily obsessed with this look. Of course Mr./Ms. "but he does get his good looks from me" Titan would make sure Luz was dripped out in the most stylish final form possible lmao. I also like how her form of ultimate power includes all the magic glyphs being used at once, something I'm sure only the Titans could handle (well, the Titans + one funky little human).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Funny frames for your serotonin (featuring King going into shock)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We finally met the Titan! (Dilf detected) Seriously his vibe was great, he really is a laid back dad giving Luz uncle advice. Also loved how he is canonically nonbinary (he mentioned he was viewed as a king and a queen and that being called "dad" was not inherent to him but was acceptable). It was very poetic how we meet him through Luz and see him finally leave as a spirit; we want him to come back but we've known he was dead, and nothing could change that. At the very least, he got a final send off, and one last word in to his son through Luz. Gonna miss you Titan papa <;3 (Obligatory he looks and acts like Sans Undertale fuck you)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eda's chaotic smirk makes me weak in the knees. Dear god. Anyway
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course Hooty makes his return in the most extra way possible, that's why he's my favorite lmao
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Amity being disgusted by Hooty's existence, some things never change <3
Tumblr media
Alador finally got that hug! I remember people commenting on how important it was that when Amity was open to forgiving Alador for his parenting, he went for a hug and she rejected it, saying that they'd work on it. She set boundaries and opened up to her father when she was ready to, when she felt she could trust him again, which makes this hug all the more rewarding.
Tumblr media
Eda's a Headmaster! Very fitting for her that her whole journey since the start of the show was learning to become a mentor, and now she's the principle of her own school "The University of Wild Magic". Also love the new look (the pirate hook is so extra, and so very Eda).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That's about it! There were many parts of the finale that I feel others have gone over already so I'll leave that up to them. Thanks for reading and have a good one. Goodbye The Owl House, until next time!
You're gonna have to explain that one to me, champ
THANK YOU FOR ASKING! I have so many thoughts about how misunderstood Sans' character is.
okay So. The best interpretation of Sans is that of an everyman character. Hes not special at all.
SANS UNDERTALE is just some lazy guy. He is not secretly super powerful and he did not secretly train every day to get so poweful and skeletons are not just naturally powerful and he is not powerful because he has meta knowledge.
He is only powerful because he is a man pushed to his limit.
If any other random monster were in his postistion in the genocide run, then it would have had the same outcome, because monsters magic and their emotions are extremely closely linked. They become stronger the more they care.
You know his speech before his battle? The 'Its a beautiful day outside' speech? This is a very hot take but. It is lame as hell. Its so cringe its like shadow the hedgehog level.
But thats on PURPOSE!!! Its lame and dumb on PURPOSE, which is why it makes me MAD when people say its COOL because its NOT MEANT TO BE COOL!!!!! The point is is that its SUPPOSED to be LAME!!!!!
Sans is extremly, painfully out of his element; his forgiving and kind nature is who he genuinely is. Hes not used to being cool or sounding cool! The speech is supposed to be jarring and ineffective to accentuate how far out of his league he is.
In the genocide run, we do not see the 'real' Sans. He was not secretly powerful all along, biding his time to make someone atone for their sins. He had only become so strong in that very moment when the situation was thrust upon him. The moment that he starts fighting, is when he stops being himself, for the greater good.
BUUUUT people are like. Hes so cool he is not just some guy hes the specialist little boy in the underground asaacyfuvub !! And he IS cool and awesome and i love him but its not for the reasons one might think.
I hope this makes sense godddd ive been wanting to say this since forever.
How do you imagine sans and flowey's relationship?
Sans and Flowey!!!! I've thought about this for a while
I think the usual interpretation is 'they dont like each other', but this is Undertale, things are more complex than that
I mean, sure, before the pacifist ending, in the timelines where Sans knows about Flowey, he doesn't like him because he's super suspicious and probably has done awful things already. And Flowey has gone through a Sans fight countless of times too and most likely lost all the time lol I really doubt Flowey would ever finish a Sans fight, he's a very hot headed kid, he would just reset the whole timeline
Now, post-game? That's interesting
First of all, unlike many people believe, Sans doesn't remember anything from previous timelines and he probably doesn't remember much from the Asriel fight just like everyone else does. He doesn't initially have that much problem with Flowey, but maybe a little bit. He knows about Papyrus being friends with a flower and he was suspecious about that, maybe he doesn't remember much from the last fight but remembering a flower showing up and then passing out is not a really pleasant memory, those two facts don't help much
Flowey would probably be annoyed at Sans at first, 'this is the guy that has made me reset so many times....', and he's aware that he most likely doesn't like him, so he doesn't love hanging out with him
But things are more complex than that
If Sans learns more about Flowey, and knows he used to be the one to reset time again and again, I'm sure he would hold that against him, understandably so. But if he also learns what happened, and that this is a child, and that he lost a sibling, do you really think Sans Undertale of all characters would hate Flowey. Maybe he still doesn't fully trust him, but he also didn't fully trust Frisk, and he was still very kind to them. Because Sans is very kind and he really really wants to be friends with everyone, probably as much as Papyrus does, he just shows it in a different way. He probably would not forgive someone that shows to him that they are a completely awful person, even if it hurts because he really wanted to be their friend
But Flowey is trying to improve, he is not trying to be awful again, he is being nice, he does kind things for people (like helping Toriel) and he is friends with Papyrus completely honestly. If you are trying to be nicer, and if you are also kind to Papyrus, then Sans likes you
Flowey might be annoyed at first, but he completely understand why Sans wouldn't like him, if anything he probably just feels guilty around Sans, which would make him try to be better even more, even if he doesn't admit it at first
So it would be a cold relationship at first, Sans doesn't trust him and Flowey feels guilty, but with time there is improvement from Flowey, there is more trust. Flowey tries to be nicer, Sans is patient and kind, so they would start to get along. It's not easy at first, but it is with time
I think when they are kind of friends, Sans likes to annoy Flowey with jokes, just like how he does to everyone else, and Flowey acts annoyed but he is kind of happy that Sans jokes around with him. Flowey probably knows a lot about Sans, but he doesn't say it out loud, he kind of just tries to help Sans when he needs it
I think they can be friends with time!
Spamton Character Analysis/Discussion
Gonna post my thoughts on spamton and his character since I saw talk about it! I love this guy so ill present everything I know and what I think is going on with him
I enjoy writing a lot, but I am an amatuer so please forgive my structure haha.
I wrote this addressing all sorts of thoughts and questions. If anyone has anything to say please do!
Spamtons introduction I think his introduction is a pretty good starting point for him He pops out of his dumpster and gives his introduction AND then notices kris and addresses them Spamton gives me the animatronic giving its dance number to an empty auditorium vibe He gave his little intro before being aware anyone was watching him He has a certain way of acting and it seems there's some things he can't help Like his introduction and his quirks
Spamton absolutely is aware hes scamming people, but I think he feels that there's no other option. Other characters have mentioned him asking for their help to get into the mansion, and the addisons pretend he doesn't exist. He comes across as a sort of person no one is willing to help, so he has to resort to lying to get what he wants. Which for his current goals, i don't blame anyone for not. I say he knows bc in pacifist Neo he apologizes for the scams and promises to do better. Personally I think this is exactly where people get his softer interpretations. Spamton seems to know his scams are wrong and wants to do better and actually be a friend, but the universe or whatever is tormenting him just won't let him have it.
Is Spamton being Controlled? I would say, yes. To what degree? I'm not sure! I do not know where he got the idea to put himself into Neo. Did the voice tell him? Did he figure it out? Did he not put himself in before because he wasn't that desperate yet? Whatever the case, I believe the pursuit of Neo was his own sort of. I think whoever gave him forbidden knowledge/is controlling him knew what would happen but he convinced himself it was the solution to everything. I think, that whatever is controlling spamton is more in his thoughts and what he can say. The very telling shop dialouge where he seems to "break character" and beg someone for forgiveness strongly hints that hes not just talking about freedom in an existential way, but more of an actual way (edited) Spamton is desperate. He says so to us. His dialog and flavor texts also hint at this. He says very clearly "[help]", NOTHINGS WRONG NOTHINGS  WRONG NOTHINGS WRONG., the it burns dialouge, the soft cry for help in the shop Lots of things in his dialouge plainly show someone who needs and wants help but. Its Spamton. He doesn't know what will help him and he believes he has to scam to get any help. All he has is Neo as his one last hope.  I personally don't think he's bad for "scamming" us either. We go along with it willingly. Kris maybe doesn't, but we do.  I see Spamton as a very flowey/chara like character. He needs help, but he doesn't know what he needs. He thinks Neo will solve all his problems (like flowey with the human souls and wanting to "play" forever). Thing is, spamton never needed any soul to realize what he was doing was wrong. He knew, he just didn't think there was any other way.  Spamton is sentimental and deep down just wants friendship imo. He talks about being a big shot being his end goal, but at the end of pacifist, all he's happy about is being free and living for himself and his friends. In snowgrave he talks about muttering his "lost friends" names at the bottom of a dumpster. He very clearly misses his friends. But he has been abandoned. His friends even clearly stated it was them that left first. I don’t know why they did not reconnect with him afterwards. There is lots we do not see with spamton. He could have estranged them even further, or perhaps he avoided them on purpose because he was ashamed. He misses them and wishes to see them still though. This again is where I think people get his softer interpretations. He is a scammer, but honestly. Hes the embodiment of spam email. He can't help being who he is. He's like Edward scissorhands. He cuts everyone he loves because of who he is, regardless of how he feels.
He’s a very difficult character to parse! Characters that are embodiments of actual concepts also having their own personalities is difficult. It’s like the whole nature and nurture thing, how much of their actions is purely them and how much is it because of who they are? (Not forgiving any actions here lol, i just find it very sad and interesting how spamton is literally something people hate in the real world and how what he is influences his “life”)
Alright next thought: Spamton hates himself Now this is a weird one huh? The guy that plasters his face on everything and sends mini versions of himself to fight hates himself? Not as unlikely as one would think! Snowgrave is very telling on this one. His whole speech is basically to himself. Talking about his abandonment and how he is pathetic and how he makes himself sick. He calls himself (and the player) a worm. Everything he says to kris in that speech is projection at himself. Even in pacifist Neo fight we see some of his self hate. He is absolutely elated at the idea of not being a "long nosed doll" anymore. Spamton very much doesn't like himself or his body. He stinks because he lives in a dumpster and he hates it so much he punches it likely leaving a dent. Personally I think everything has his face on things bc the only thing he has left is himself. It's the only thing he can "sell". And like mettaton he probably used to sell things with his face on them  all the time. Its like his introduction, its just part of who he is. He probably just rolls with it bc he probably tries to see himself as a temporarily embarrassed big shot. His face will be worth millions again!! Just you wait!!! (....)
Snowgrave Spamton Since we mentioned snowgrave, im gonna say yeah, I dont think spamton is evil. If flowey ultimately isn't evil, then he isn't either. Just like flowey, our actions influence him. In pacifist, spamton desperately jumps at the chance of us helping him get to Neo. We can totally just ignore him and complete the story without him with no punishment for that. In snowgrave however, when he sees us murdering everyone he has to change up his tactics. Of course he knows that if he fought us he would be frozen. So he's gonna help us. He's an opportunist 100%. Hes not the main villian at all in snowgrave. We are lol. We murder everyone. He helps, but its us who goes the whole way. He is still wrong for giving us the ring though and he even comments on that. I do think its strange that both he and the pink addison conveniently had rings that helped Noelle get stronger specifically. They almost feel intentionally placed, like someone gave them those items for snowgrave. Perhaps we will see more on that in future chapters.  I do think its very funny that spamton counts taking over the mansion as becoming a big shot. He also seems fine with the wires in snowgrave. I do wonder if snowgrave Spamton is more "controlled" to be honest, but thats much more in conjecture than fact lol. To have more information on that we would have to just see in later chapters and see if a pattern emerges.
Anyways, I do think spamton is the ultimate opportunist. He will do what he can to get a leg up. He doesn't care how he does it. In snowgrave you prove to him that the way he's going about things is right. In Pacifist spamton comes to the conclusion that he was wrong because of your actions. He falls, but he is able to be lucid enough to not be self serving and gives himself up as an item to you. For someone as self serving as spamton to sacrifice himself is a big character moment imo. As gut wrenching as it is. I can see why people want to help him at that point. Post Neo spamton is the spamton that would most be receptive to help and friendship. I think lots of people struggle with pre neo spamton because it's hard to showcase his self serving nature. He's very selfish! He hates himself, but he wants to love himself again. Everything is about him in his world. Hes extremely funny in that way :y He is also aware that he has to sell himself. He knows that he has to be interesting so people will let him scam them. So thats just doubling back to why its always about him haha. Hes 100% a mettaton analog. Its all about him darling! (But secretly, all he really wants is his friends and life back) ((with sick neo wings lol))  Who is Mike? I have seen the Mike is the Voice/Gaster theory and you could interpret it as that yeah! You could totally say that. Personally, I think Mike was Spamtons camera guy for his commercials. Either that or a TV tycoon. Id say Mike will probably be like burgerpants/alphys to spamton Like, a mix of them together I imagine spamton would boss Mike around a lot like, GET THIS SHOT, or NO YOURE DOING IT WRONG But he genuinely considered Mike as a friend, until he was abandoned or stabbed in the back by him (edited) Acid theory Again, this is a maybe! Queens acid DOES shrink and spamton does have dialog you could connect it to (help! It burns! Please!)
You could argue this is a mis interpretation as in the Japanese dialog that line is more about staring into a bright light (the sun probably), if im remembering correctly. The implications of this with the English lines though make me wonder if spamton willingly became this way or if his mind was broken because of what he saw. Considering the dialouge involving that is begging for it to stop.
Spamton and religion Spamton discusses heaven, having communion with the divine and angels a lot. A personal note, but i find this to be one of my favorite parts of him. It’s very interesting Very strange that an inanimate object is aware of the divine, yeah? Spamton is very hung up on the idea of angels. His magic resembles them and his neo form resembles an angel as well. Spamton also prays and talks about having a communion with the divine. He seems to think that the Neo will save him and it has a connection to the divine (the light world?) (Personally I think heaven is our world, and he thought Neo would get him higher than the game, like how flowey thinks the human souls will help him) Thats why I think he just rolls with whatever the player does. I think he's aware kris is being controlled. He sees whatever they do as sort of divine. If he believes kris is being piloted by the angel. He does mention angel a lot in snowgrave, he could be referring to Noelle, or he could be talking to us. Or maybe he thinks all of it is kris. Spamton might just be projecting onto kris and just happens to be right on the money in his assumption that kris is also a puppet.
Personally, I think spamton is the strongest darkner we've met so far! If you encounter neo, the computer closest to the spam email junk bin (spamton is the whole bin), will blue screen. It does not do that if you dont encounter Neo. Spamton really was strong enough to influence the reality above his own and cause a physical change. What that means in the future, im unsure! We will have to see the other bosses in later chapters
Spamtons appearance In the poster he looks much different He looks more like an addison there, and in the fangamer merch we see that he didn't look like a puppet at all during his big shot era.
(You could argue the fangamer merch isnt canon, but they did base it off the poster from the wall, which doesn’t look like puppet spamton at all, so I am going to say, it is probably close enough to canon to count)
There are so many questions revolving this How did that happen? Who did that to him? Was it self inflicted? Why a puppet? Some people have brought up the acid theory but instead of shrinking spamton dies and possesses a doll/mannequin. For me, that would explain why mad dummy is a part of Neos theme along with mettatons. I do find it deeply interesting how an electronic being can be a ghost however. Its very...."living" to be able to have a ghost. That implies having a soul. The idea makes me sad though lol. Makes the addison procession after the Neo fight much more like a funeral than it already is.
Pre big shot and big shot Personally I think spamton before everything was just like. A regular dude. He had friends, he did his best, he had big dreams. He just, like his friends said, was very unlucky. He never sold anything and once he got his big break it all crashed down on him leading him to become a broken and homeless man living in a dumpster. Big shot spamton I think he was very much like Mettaton in this era. Everything was about him, everything he sold had his face on it. He was probably very full of himself, but like mettaton, he probably missed his friends a lot. But with him, no one checked up on him or called until it was too late. I really dont like the addisons lol. In undertale, Mettaton has napstablook who calls him to let him know how they feel. With spamton, none of them tried to connect with him, and even afterwards they pretended he didn't exist. Despite how they treated him, he STILL thought of them and wished to see them!!! I honestly think the addisons, any of them, if they had been in the same position as him would have come out even worse. Spamton still thought about his friends, and they only showed up when he was dead. (Hes not dead in the dealmakers, but) Its very brutal abandonment and I can understand spamtons bitterness when he insists he and kris need no one. I will be fair and say, there is probably history we are missing, but from just their own admissions, the addisons aren’t very good friends imo.
Overall I think spamton is very selfish and opportunistic but he is also strangely sentimental and caring. He is a very beautifully multi faceted character who not only makes black and gray decisions all the time, he makes white ones too. I think everyone that interprets him as a sleazeball is correct and everyone that interprets him as a sad lonely guy who needs a friend is also correct. Both of them are spamton.
Spamton and Mettaton A discussion on his character and his relations to mettaton Spamton i absolutely believe is a mettaton analog He wants to be in a new body, he was an entertainer, he has friends who he is now estranged from all like mettaton Id say spamton even personality wise is very close to mettaton Id say both of them are morally grey, absolutely so before they meet the human (pacifist) You might be wondering why im saying mettaton is gray as well, well there's a good reason In one of the neutral endings, mettaton becomes ruler and he straight up has dissenters to his rule killed or jailed And he is quite verbally abusive to burgerpants Hes not a perfect angel at all, but that makes him fun I bring up mettatons wrongs in the neutral route bc I believe ultimately its our decisions that change how both characters look at life.
We are a force of the universe, we literally shape the rules. We either show that kindness and patience can win out, or that in this world its kill or be killed. Both characters understand and operate by the latter to a degree. With mettaton he is completely fine with dangerous things on his show (even tho its all just for show) and being a despot dictator when he finds himself in that position.He’s only the friendly robot host in pacifist/less murdery neutral routes.
Spamton seems to believe that he can only get what he wants by scamming. He thinks that nothing is given for free or done out of the kindness of one's heart. After all, we are helping him because he promised us the sought after [hyperlink blocked]. He understands hes scamming, but to him, its just the way the world works. When we go snowgrave we show to spamton that he was right to think that he can only rely on himself and he should only be trying to uplift himself. He sides with us simply because he can see money to be made! He sees us as a way to get to his goal, so there is absolutely no character growth for him in snowgrave. I could argue he slides even further down, bc in his final speech its mostly just a hate filled breakdown directed at himself.
In pacifist, we show spamton that its not all about scamming others. Even though he fell hard from the last string being cut, he seems to still believe what he said. He knows he can't be free, but he's going to do the self less thing and help someone else despite his wish to be free. Thats very big character growth for him. I would say pre neo and post neo spamton are almost entirely different characters to us. Same as how enemy and friend undyne are different. Pre Neo, spamton is very manic, always focused on himself. Hes always saying nows your chance, but he obviously means nows MY chance. All of his deals benefit him. He very clearly wants help, but he has no idea how to get it without manipulating others. He just doesn't see anyone engaging with him unless he has something for them to "win".
Post Neo spamton i would say realized that he doesn't have to scam people. Before he fell he was going to turn over a whole new leaf. And I think he genuinely meant it, because after he crashed down and it turns out he wasn't free after all, he still offered himself to help save someone else. Despite wanting to pursue his freedom, the lesson that not everything has to be a deal stuck with him. So him giving himself up, no deals attached, was his big character growth moment. Hes also still a silly guy, as shown when the pocket is full. I very deeply hope he comes out of the pocket someday. I imagine he would still be very silly, but also a bit more reserved. He would probably make very little or just more honest deals. They may still be just him selling garbage, but he wouldn't be making them to manipulate others into making him god.
Ok, don't judge, just hear me out: Death Note x Undertale crossover
Frisk — Light
Light is the 8th fallen child, and we are not given the reason why he entered the Underground, but it seems something really bad happened to him on the Surface. He wants to return to humans to uphold J✨U✨S✨T✨I✨C✨E among them. If he chooses Pacifist Route, he forgives humans and stays with Sachiko and Souichiro. If he chooses Genocide Route, well... He becomes one with Kira and intends to purify the Surface from humans.
Also, there can be several interpretations of Light, but I personally stick to canon, which means in my mind Light is 17 and identifies as man. But Light can be a non-binary child, like original Frisk, if you wish so.
Chara — Kira
Yes, Light and Kira are separate people, but a lot of people point out how they resemble each other and how they are very much alike. Also, if Light wears his favorite suit with a red tie, Kira wears black turtleneck because reasons 🐢.
Kira is the 1st fallen child. He has been suffering from abuse on the Surface, which explains his thought pattern about injustice in the human world. When Nightgod (=Yagami) family finds him and treats as their adopted child, Kira is shocked that someone seems to actually love him. Later, he persuades Mikami Teru, his adopted brother, that all humans are evil and monsters are better in every aspect (he genuinely believes it btw).
Asriel — Mikami Teru
I chose him because his admiration for Kira is obvious. Also, when Mikami absorbs Kira's soul and goes to human village in order to take other six souls, he understands that not every human is bad, tells Kira "You're not god" and then they both die, like Chara and Asriel in canon :)
In the end of True Pacifist, Mikami tells Light that Kira wasn't a good person and has always hated humans because of the things they've done to him. But Mikami still loves him.
Flowey — Ryuk
Yes, that's Mikami after reincarnation. Countless apple puns and hyuk-hyuk noises.
Toriel — Sachiko Yagami (Nightgod)
Asgore — Souichiro Yagami (Nightgod)
They still love each other, even after everything that's happened. After True Pacifist Route it takes some time for Sachiko to forgive Souichiro, but in the end she still does.
Sachiko still keeps different sweaters which Mikami and Kira used to wear. She bakes a birthday cake on both Mikami's and Kira's birthdays and she hums a "Happy birthday to you" song when she cuts the cake in complete darkess, only lit by flame of candles. Souichiro still has many books on criminal's profiling, judgement system etc. because Kira was very interested in fighting injustice, so he and Souichiro bonded over this. He loved to tell his sons stories about his past, when he was the head of the Royal Guard and not the king, but during the war between humans and monsters the previous king was killed, so Souichiro had to take over this post. Now he has no one to tell his stories to.
Sans — L
Mysterious skeleton, the oldest of three brothers. He tried working as a detective, but the most terrible crime which you can hear of in Snowdin would probably be a kid stealing other kid's toy, so L soon became really bored and depressed. To kill the boredom, he decided trying science, and it turned out to be pretty entertaining, so he became a member of a group of royal scientists. They were working on a machine that could break the barrier. However, after the incident with Beyond Birthday (L is the only one who remembers such person, bc he was the only one present during the incident) he quit it and started working and experimenting at home.
When Light asks about the first human — Kira — Mello tells him, that no one knew Kira better then L. And he is not wrong. L had a very complicated relationship with Kira, because he saw his equal in Kira, but he didn't think Kira was a good person. Kira was a part of the royal scientists group too, so he and L quickly became sort of friends. Well, at least they could tolerate each other, because others seemed too stupid. L even ended up considering Kira his friend. He tried to talk him out of that plan which resulted in both Mikami and Kira dead. After disappearing of Kira and incident with BB boredom came back and L became depressed once again.
During Pacifist Route, L and Light bond, but L can't get over the feeling that Light and Kira are very much alike, and not just in appearance. He jokes that he's starting to believe in reincarnation and notices that both Light and Kira have determination burning deep inside their eyes. After some time, L starts seeing Light as his equal too, so during the canonical date in the Mettaton/Misa's hotel L tell Light to stay safe because there are some people who really care about him and in the judgement hall he admits that it was quite boring here, so it's nice to have Light around, because Light is his first ever friend (dw, the foot massage scene still happens, it's just off-screen lmao)
During Genocide Route, L observes from the distance as Light kills every single monster and confronts him in the judgement hall. During their canonical battle of wits L understands that Kira and Light became one. Kira!Light also points out that L is not bored anymore, and L is struck with the understanding that he is right. It's tragic to L that he can neither exist in a world where everything is fine and boring nor in one where everything is interesting but also going straight to hell. Also, unlike Sans, L doesn't fall asleep (who would have thought), but he misses a blow. He lets Light get too close, and then he is given a fatal blow. Before dying, he remarks how symbolic his death is - he let Light get too close. He says that he should've killed Light the moment he saw him and dies.
Papyrus — Mello and Near
L's younger brothers. I think they are both approximately 14-15 y.o.. Yes, Mello and Near are still separate people (dw, we are not doing puppet!Mello from dn drama), however they share the same interest - they are competing over who can catch a human first and become royal guard in order to succeed Naomi Misora. Mello is more aggressive in his methods: he uses orange bones and fire. Light dies many times trying to befriend/kill him. Near uses blue attacks and ice, but he is more into mind games than physical confrontation, so he tries to outsmart Light and make him do something stupid (like move when he's under blue attack), so Near doesn't have to spend much magic on him. His fights with Light are less spectacular, but he's as strong as Mello is.
However, neither of them really want to kill Light (unless he's on the Genocide Route). But they understand that monsters only need a single human soul to finally break the barrier, so they try to kill Light for the GrEaTeR gOoD. If Light befriends them, three of them bond very quickly, bc Light is very intelligent and they feel like he could've been their other brother. Light argues with Mello over clothes and they watch cheap dramas on TV and laugh at them + he plays with Near and his huge collection of toys.
During Genocide Route, Light kills Mello by using his own attack against him: Mello burns down in the fire he had created. He kills Near by getting too close and strangling him, bc Near is physically weak. When L finds the bodies, he picks up Mello's body cross and Near's white jacket.
Also, i imagine that L, Mello and Near look human, but they can turn themselves or part of their body into skeletons, because, well, magic.
Grillby — Watari
A fire barman who cares deeply about L, Mello and Near. He treats them like he would his own children, if he ever had any, so if Light kills Mello and Near there will be a fight with Watari before Waterfall. During the Pacifist Route, Watari is pretty warm to him bc his children seem to like Light's company.
Muffet — Takada Kyomi
She has anatomy of a spider. Also, she and Misa are fighting over the title of "the most beautiful female monster in the Underground".
Undyne — Misora Naomi
She looks pretty much like Undyne, but her hair is the same. She's very close with Souichiro, bc she sees him as a paternal figure and she's helping him with ruling the kingdom. She also feels very protective over Matsuda. It's up to you whether you want there to be a romantic relationship between them or not (why not tho).
During Pacifist Route, Light befriends Misora pretty quickly, bc she's not a violent person and she's pretty sure she can persuade Souichiro not to kill Light and wait for a bad human instead. Also, instead of cooking lesson they have capoeira lessons✨
During Genocide Route, Misora saves Sayu and becomes Naomi Undying. Her attacks are mostly physical and not magical, bc she's used to counting on martial arts. Also, she's physically much stronger than Light is, so he doesn't attack and only dodges. He waits until her determination makes her melt (bc we know from UT canon that determination has a really bad influence on monsters).
Alphys — Touta Matsuda
Very shy dinosaur monster who wants to work as a royal scientist. He doesn't remember he was a part of a group of royal scientists, bc he doesn't remember there was a group at all. His memories were erased during explosion of a machine. So, he strikes a deal with Misa bc he is very unsure of himself and doesn't believe he can create something worthy. When he meets Naomi, she's the first person not to call him stupid, so he feels deep admiration and affection towards her.
His experiments with determination on monsters led to Mikami being reincarnated as Ryuk.
Mettaton — Misa Amane
She's not a regular ghost. She doesn't remember much about her past, but she remembers that she, Rem and her entire family were killed by humans during the War. So, when Kira shows up in the Underground claiming that all humans are garbage and they need to be eliminated she falls in love with his ideology. However, they can't be together, bc she doesn't have a body, so she strikes a deal with Touta Matsuda. If he gives her a physical body, she will pretend that Matsuda has created her which will lead to him becoming a royal scientist. So, having acquired the body, she gives her first show in order to catch Kira's attention. However, right after show she learns that both royal kids are dead and queen has left king. She is heartbroken over Kira's death, but she feels like she's the only hope left for grieving monsters, so she continues her shows to cheer them up, bc who if not her? Her attacks are connected to sound and light.
Napstablook — Rem
A ghost who cares deeply about Misa. She helped her really hard to get on stage, even though she feels abandoned now. Also, Napstablook and Mettaton were relatives, so it's up to you whether you want to see Rem's love towards Misa as maternal or romantic one.
Monster Kid — Sayu Yagami
Listen, I love Sayu, so in the Pacifist Route she's Light's bestie and he treats her like a sister he would die for. In the Genocide Route Sayu lives because Misora saves her.
Gaster — Beyond Birthday
No one knows who he was or how he ended up erased from the timeline. It's all i have to say. After all, it's rude to talk about someone who's listening.
BONUS: you can headcanon 7 human souls, but i imagine them like this:
Determination - Kira, Light
Bravery - Kyosuke Higuchi
Justice - Halle Lidner
Kindness - Suichi Aizawa
Patience - Kanzo Mogi
Perseverance - Namikawa
Persistence - Stephen Gevanni
P. S.
I imagine, the group of royal scientist which worked on a project that was supposed to break barrier, was this: A, BB, L, Kira, Matsuda.
A died during the explosion, so her (yes, i headcanon A as a girl) body was discovered later. However, BB just got erased from existence, bc he was standing the closest to the machine. L was the only one in the room who survived (Kira and Matsuda were in another room)
!!!List of papyrus things!!!
(Update 3! mini update.)
For anyone who needs more info on the guy! Since you usually dont see alot of info about him!
A list of stuff thats just papyrus's tid bits i've collected overtime!
(Disclaimer: some things can be taken off of memory, though I did search most of the stuff up, so you dont have to worry too much. But if your feeling unsure, search it up! And correct me while your at it.)
his room doesn't play/have music.
(If you have reunited playing at enter his room, it'll disappear forever. Untill you go back and let it play again. Even without reunited, a song that plays no matter what room your in, doesn't play any music.)
Never takes off his battle body.
(According to sans, he only takes it off if he has no other choice too. Otherwise he'll just put clothes ontop of it, or just repaints it if needed. He does how ever, change his pants but never takes off the top.)
the minute "royal gaurd " is out of the picture, he's got nothing.
(It was the one thing he worked up for. When the royal gaurd disbands He says he "working hard on doing absolutely nothing". Then again this can be interpreted as papyrus does say he is working on something, despite not being a royal gaurd yet.)
He lies. (And can manipulate)
(Though he is really bad at lying, he seems to manipulate just fine, though its usually not out of malice. He gets undyne to befreind you by mentioning "challenge", which is a weakness of hers, since she never can turn down a challenge. And has lied about floweys name to her to. Has lied to sans or atleast mislead him about the things he knows about. Pretended he didn't know what a lab was during a call in hotland, but if you call him when sans isn't there, papyrus mentions the lab as if it was common knowledge instead of saying "Labrador-y?" As if he had no idea.)
Changes up his attacks
( if you get captured a few times, you see variation in his attacks. If you do it right, you can get him too skip half of his entire attack.)
Calls his own puzzles "Awful"
(This happens after battling papyrus, he says "WHO KNEW THAT ALL I NEEDED TO MAKE PALS... WAS TO GIVE PEOPLE AWFUL PUZZLES AND THEN FIGHT THEM??" This could be interpreted in many ways.)
Spikes, fire, traps, fencless bridges: are all safe for children, according to papyrus.
("EACH AREA HAS TO HAVE A PRECARIOUS BRIDGE" -bridge likely to collapse, dangerous. "ITS MANDATED BY THE GOVERNMENT. OF COURSE KING FLUFFYBOY WANTS TO UNMANDATE IT SAFER." "WHY?! WONT HE THINK OF THE CHILDREN?!)
Has "talked" with asgore before.
(Sadly, asgore and papyrus has crossed paths. Asgore advises him not to but dangerous puzzles around town, for the children. Papyrus wants to put dangerous puzzles around town, for the children. This results in them bickering over saftey laws, with papyrus usually winning.)
Tried to start a flowey fan club
(On multiple occasions calls flowey "his best freind" and shows genuine love for the little guy. He even gave flowey a little red scarf to match his, during the 5th anniversary winter alarm clock.)
Has photo-graphic memory for phone calls.
-call in the room where undyne chased you. He seems nervous, or atleast stressed out during this call. I'll leave any and all interpretation to you.)
(Ps: papyrus has bad memory, but good photographic memory?)
His disliking for grease
(Says this during a call with undyne in grillby's place. Undyne says she loves grease, and he quickly dismisses his opinion in favor of hers. Of course, papyrus HAS visited grillbys before, as the dogamy and doggeressa mention him with sans. )
Calls alphys "great"
(During the first tile puzzle, he praises alphys by calling her "THE GREAT DR. ALPHYS" )
Knows about undynes crush on alphus
(He teases undyne a few times on this, leading to the "hot voice" and "audible wink" papyrus lines. He's not oblivious to the things around him, unless he chooses to be.)
Put limes in his eyes!
(Conversation in hotland! The guy thought limes where cucumbers and stuck them in his eyes. When. He thought it wasn't working he put more limes. It burned like hell but he says it was all to have "mettaton's bishoning eyes")
Knows about mtt's eyes
(Nobody seems to know that mettaton has eyes?! Undyne confirms this fact. Papyrus is the only one who outright mentions it.)
He got mettaton to do the tile puzzle thing
(FOR SOME UNEXPLAINED REASON- mettaton was the tile puzzle robot alphys built. The puzzle robot papyrus had during his own tile puzzle. Infact, during mettaton's tile puzzle in hotland, he says that you'd is this a few hundred rooms ago. If you call papyrus, he starts rambling on all the instructions again. Hehe.)
he likes dinosaur oatmeal
(According to the undertale tumblr, flowey response to "whats papyrus's favorite food?" Is DINOSAUR OATMEAL!! YAY!)
really enjoys mtt's show and mtt in general.
(and mtt even helped him with a tile puzzle)
enjoys cars
Owns a car bed
(Want to drive one)
really freaking artistic!
(Paints a whole bridge, makes a snowpapyrus, made his own costume/battle body, built a okay replica of a sentry station)
The red book on the table in the skelebro's house is infact his!
(For specifics, the quantum mechanics book with infinite books inside of it. It isn't specified who reads it, but both brothers should be capable as jokes and puns are not out of papyrus wardrobe.)
has his own shed and tools.
(Also known as "the punishment shed, doghouse, cpature zone, guest room, a garage" or undyne's pun which was "the coolshed". Ah, to be enriched by shed puns... Wonderful.)
tried to learn the "horoscope"
(Got "stumped" according to sans)
thinks junior jumble is harder than crossword
wants a 6 pairs of hot pants and 6 pairs of legs to wear those pants
has a dream of owning a shop where he just sells flames
(Call near in waterfall, near the turtle man shop.)
He's very influential
(If he's the only one killed in a neutral run, even without undyne, a revolution will still occur. Look into it yourself if need be.)
Called himself a genius
(During the instance, where he talks to you after turning the light on in sans's room.)
Can't really tell when someones mad
(He couldn't tell when undyne was mad at him during a call. He asks us too.)
Doesn't watch anime.
(He thinks its like cartoons for babies. Jokes around with undyne for awhile before taking it all back once he knew she watched anime.-during one of the calls.)
Brutal kind of guy
(He says this himself, i don't exactly know WHY he thinks this of himself, but he does.)
Bookworm
Owns a bookshelf
(He has a book Its where his vast dictionary comes from.
Knows about the time and space manipulation tactics sans uses.
(HE KNOWS- HE MENTIONS IT WHEN HE TURNS ON THE LIGHT IN SANS'S ROOM!!)
believes you can be a better person, if you just try.
(And he's right. Even if you kill him he still believes this, beacuse well.. Its true. Undyne wont forgive you and try to kill you, sans won't fight you, bht he's still right either way)
Knows about river person
(He asks about how river person is doing. No body seems to know about river person, and its unsure if undyne knows about their prescence.)
The days in his date scene (Monday, Tuesday, weekday, Thursday,e.c.t ) changes depending on your computer. Even though the date in undertale is always Monday.
(River person has a scheduled thing that matches up to your computer date as well, but this is about papyrus, not river person.)
Weird abilities
(Flying and super speedy twirling, flying backwards. He doesn't even hide it.)
He's pretty freaking tough!
(According to undyne, the person who defeated asgore.)
His "absolutely normal attack" is a giant cluster of bones.
(In theory, his attack could be the size of the entire area, including the giant bone at the end.)
Papyrus can lower the giant bone at the end of his "absolutely normal attack"
Has Collection of bones (or was planning to make one.)
(The room behind the sink was made for.. His attacks/bones. Before toby(dog)came in and made a shrine instead.)
Is annoying dog's favorite target.
Has a cannon, spears, fire thingy, and a dog at his disposal.
(Displayed during the bridge scene)
One persistent dude.
Likes to say "NYEHEHE!"
Has alot of MTT items.
Owns makeup!
(Mtt brand of course!)
Never dated anyone before.
(He says it himself.)
owns a dating manual
Not much of a sleeper.
(To the point where he just calls sleeping "naps" which aren't that long. He outright says he's always working, so he doesn't sleep.)
Dislikes hotland
dislikes hotland x2
Dislikes hotlands puzzles
Dislikes hotlands ethics.
Doesnt know much about hotland
(Says he knows it like the back of his hand!)
Says he never taken off his gloves, so he has no idea how his hands look like.
(He wears gloves or mittens on top of his gloves. And refuses to take it off, like his "battle body")
Calls hotland's steam puzzles garbage.
Dislikes hotlands conveyors
Thinks L1 and R2 stand for left and right
( Of course, it takes him awhile. He starts making puns, and tries to compare the words to pasta, and THEN comes to the conclusion that its left and right. Its Trail and error.-)
Knows about death.
(Said he wanted to meet death one time during a waterfall call.)
He pauses when speaking as a lost soul.
("I MUST CAPTURE A HUMAN! THEN EVERYONE WILL. ...." This is unusual as he is the only one that pauses. This can be interpreted, but it is rather interesting nonetheless)
Alright this is a bit more interpretive. Things may not be 100% facts down here.
Disclaimer: i will be putting "Interpretive" in red coloring for things that have may my interpretation or opinions in! Please do be mindful in your search, and take it with a grain of salt. It doesn't make it comepelty wrong, it has facts! Just muddled with oppinions.
Ready?
self-worth problems.
( can be called interpretive: He always feels very unimportant, as if he doesn't actually matter. During a call in waterfall, with the puddle hallway, papyrus talks about not letting it "get to you" or something along the lines of that. Since undyne speaks from her experience with the puddles, then i'd assume papyrus would too.)
(I think its just a sign of self doubt or insecurity. Someone once said its dysphoria, which is a cool headcannon for paps or something. What ever it is, he has some demons that he doesn't want to let out.)
Forgetable.
( according to the genocide description)
( Interpretive: Other than that, he's not even noticable. Though, there are a few people that appreciate him, most dont really acknowledge him. Unless you kill him of course!)
Sad/depressed?
( interpreitive as well:Before the human showed up, sans explains how his brother was feeling quite down lately. We see a.. Happier side of papyrus through out our journey.. He vents out to us, the player/human, about things he dislikes, or troubles he faces. Hes like a froggit. Life is hard for a froggit.)
Smiles through things.
("This is where I tried to capture you! What a bad memory." -quote he says as he smiles through it all. He does have a sad emote, but so far i have only seen it during a call in hotland, where the CORE was shown. As your adventure is coming close.. To an end.)
Uses his playful "OUCH!" emote when you straight up kill him. Instead of his hurting/in pain emote when flowey catches him off guard before absorbing everyonesones souls.
(The reason is unkown, but that emote is normally associated with more of "light taps." Examples are, toriel's fireballs at asgore and flowey. Unless... Cutting off his head was considered a "light tap" then, but flowey wrapping him in painful vines is considered more painful than getting his head chopped off and still having enough consciousness to joke about it.)
He knows his cooking sucks and that nobody likes it.
(He's not naive. He knows. He even says it. "Nobody has like my cooking before!" - QUOTE. This isn't some hidden fact. He's trying his best, "mabye next year, he might even make something edible." -sans quote.)
That was all the stuff i gathered for now.
Feel free to tell me anything i haven't added! :)
yeah, hes a pretty cool dude, ain't he?
(Edit: i've added some new things to the bunch, and fixed/deleted ome opinions or unrelated junk. Please, continue helping me add!)
Hey MH, I’ve spent the last few hours going through your MH-SWAP stuff and I adore all of it. (It’s also my favorite Undertale-au) I love how you’ve strayed away from the Fanon interpretations and sticking true to the original concept for the character, while simultaneously implementing your own creative input. One of my other favorite Underswap variants is the ask!error series where US-sans is taken from his brother by error-sans and is slowly turned into an error from the anti void and long term isolation. (Sry idk if you’d heard/seen it or not)
So my question I guess is what would your MH-Swap characters react/look like if they were put in the same situation
I.E: Noodles loses his au and watches his brother be taken, and Neptune being taken from his friends, family, and slowly becoming an error.
firstly, thank you for the nice words ;u;
I’ve never talked about my opinion of AskErrorSans but tl;dr I have an eternal soft spot for Error Sans, although his fanon content doesn’t interest me in the slightest :>;; it’s been a long time since I read through the comic, and making a proper take on Swap MH in AskError’s story isn’t something I’d actually do (I already have too much to draw anyway ahah), but just for fun here’s some undeveloped thoughts on how that might work:
Neptune's interactions with Error would be pretty different from how AskError!Blueberry felt about Error - in Swap MH’s geno run Neptune isn’t the skelebro who has an unwavering belief in a murderous human’s ability to be good, so he certainly wouldn’t have that attitude towards Error. AskError!Blueberry had had his moments of trying to manipulate Error and Neptune would definitely do that too, but he wouldn’t be as enthusiastic about watching Error’s stories or answering questions and such.
Noodle’s fight with Error wouldn’t go the same as AskError!SwapPaps’ either - he’d be a lot more openly horrified and on the defensive rather than attacking (but not holding back either), and he’d be the one trying to appeal to any goodness left in this version of his brother.
tbh most of the AskError!Swap bros’ dialogue would be swapped if it were the Swap MH bros, with some minor differences here and there!
oh and during that fight, Neptune having his soul tied up in strings would be even more alarming to both bros given his low HP. glitchy manchild needs to be careful with that it’s very fragile
I would probably try and find a way to have more of the Swap MH cast to be involved (maybe rescued somehow), because I can forgive AskError for being largely Sans-centric since it was the early fandom days, but by now I am so tired of AUs that only allow the skelebros to be relevant while everyone else is lucky if they get a mention :’’’’>
I don’t plan on making an Error-ified Neptune design but the idea itself is cool as heck :0 Neptune’s inverted colour scheme is all yellows, oranges and brown (though I’d probably keep some blue on him), so maybe I’d call him Jupiter? Jupiterror???
also I know it was stated that Blueberror couldn’t go back to his own AU as an error but that is Too Damn Sad for my tastes, so in the end I’d just be like “no screw it he’s allowed back, having a glitchy skeletal abomination enjoying domestic post-pacifist life is fine. it’s fine”
aaand that’s all I got just from skimming through the comic for the first time in a couple years and thinking about it for an hour ahah
but uh, this isn’t directed at you at all bc this ask was genuinely fun to consider, but I wanna give a quick PSA that I’m not interested in having Swap MH interact with the Undertale Multiverse or specific AUs. please no one send asks like “but what if Neptune met Asdfghjkltale Sans and these 500 popular AU skeletons” oTL;;
this the story post: melohax[.]tumblr[.]com/post/639167543643340800/warning-spoilers-ahoy-only-read-this-if-youve the game has like so many secret scenes it shocked me
Thank you so much for the link!!!
I really liked reading it. I tried to skip the hikikomori route part as I will try to calmly play it, but I‘ve read a few and, as a person who saw that seen of a man trying to cut a tree and saying “you’re not my son” it intrigued me a lot what kind of information I will get from there.
I’m still puzzled and still didn’t try to see what would happen if I collected the wrong letters and if I has opened the door to Mari.
I went far on this answer and wrote a lot of random topics that are also mentioned in that post and other things I remembered too. It’s still too messy, but my memory is fresh and I decided to write about what I was thinking, even if not organized. Sorry for using your ask, but I was inspired by the link, which I think it’s a very interesting reading. I’m also sorry for the mistakes and I may come back later to correct them. There are so many fascinating things in the game, and so many others I haven’t yet explored, besided I feel good writting all of this as it is kind of asfixiating to thing about it and not having anyone to discuss it with.
This game was a rollercoaster. I knew from the begining that the cute artstyle and the pastel colours in the begining were deceiving, especially when you start in a weird whitespace room and take a knife. Omori as a black and white coloured character among the other paster colours also felt weird.
One really interesting comment I received from my brother when he watched me playing a bit, in a fight, was  “oh your character is the real neutral one, the others seem happy” while all of them were in neutral mode. Also his happy expression was scary and he was the one who got to maniac aside from villains (at least for me). The fact he has a knife intrigued me a lot if I should really fight but at first it looked like there were no consequences (aside from feeling tremendously bad for being called bunny killer. Also about these little enemies, it’s interesting how many of them were bunnies when the person we find who has a bunny is Aubrey, which is also the girl from the group that is now “against us”, at least most of the time in the real world).
Also about the knife, there are two other moments that totally hit me:
- the suicide in whitespace, which could foreshadow his suicide in some routes, but is also the means to wake up;
- Kel and Aubrey in the real world who call us out for bringing a knife, which, since the begining, was the correct thing to do.
I really wonder a lot about his family and their decisions.
It’s been 4 years. I wonder if Sunny’s mom ever put him into some kind of therapy, I wonder if her absence was on purpose because she wanted him to say goodbye to his old friends one last time. I wonder if Kel’s visit wasn’t a coincidence. I wonder if Hero coming back was also part of a last chance to bring Sunny back. I don’t know if the other route answers it, but seeing the notes and messages that mother leaves, she seems to be worried about him. I would say a mix of worry and fear, so there must be some strong reason why she’s not there besides going to buy some furniture or whatever.
Saying this, I think only Sunny’s parents know more or less what happened, but not from their son’s mouth, from autopsy report perhaps. The house was adapted to the changes: no family picture, as opposed to what I saw in Kel’s house (and I wonder if it’s only because of Mari or also with his father too as described by the cutting tree scene. I had thought this was directed to Omori and not to Sunny, but this is also part of the dream realm, so it could be Sunny’s interpretation to the end of his parents marriage which was related to Mari’s death), Mari’s bed is gone (which made the scene when she knocks the door even creepier. I never got to open the door because I was scared, but I’m also curious). Also about the 4 years,  I liked the detail of the 4th floor sign in Last Resort, which was resting there on the floor, as the number is also cursed because it symbolizes death.
I find fascinating how the complexity of the situation is represented in the dream world. His team is composed by his old friends, which are human. Mari and Basil are also human but they weren’t totally present. Mari is the safe point and overprotective of Omori, but she is also the element who encourages him to face his fears. As he faces his fears, he unravels more information about what he repressed, also helped by the presence of the blackspace Basil. But it’s ironic as the more he unravels, the more corrupted the story seems to evolve, but also the more they lose the main purpose of rescuing Basil, which is more evident in the deeper well.
I believe the human figures are the most important to him, and then there are the elements that combine real world figures with fantasy, as the candyshop girl and the fiction space boyfriend. Each story is fascinating but it also makes you lose focus on what you were supposed to do. And in my case, there was a point where I just wanted to wander around in these stories because I was to afraid to face the real story that was masked by this fictional colourful world.
These olde friends represent perhaps what Sunny never wanted to have lost, but also what he does not want to face.
When Sunny woke up in the hospital, I first followed the kids, and no, that wasn’t the right path. That was the safe path, where there is no confrontation with reality. As it was when Sunny was with company. I think it is Aubrey who says he doesn’t like to be alone, and well, that was me the whole game, imploring to not be left alone, because once the character was alone, his world seemed to be corrupted by the black space, which was also a stepping stone to reach the truth, the dark truth.
And I really like how this is all Sunny’s mental effort, which, I would say, it’s helped by him leaving his house and meeting his friends once again, as well as facing Basil one more time.
I was really sad with how the story developed. What started I was assuming it was a facing your fears story, transformed into an overcoming someone’s death, which at first I thought it would be Basil’s, to go to Mari (which was a total mystery to me why had she died (my ingenuity believed it could have been some traffic accident or something else) at first), to go to save Basil again, but now with some dark remarks about the character himself. In the middle of this development, first time the character wakes up, it is clear that the dream world character is not the same as the real world one, age wise, but is part of him.
I had written that at first I was reluctant about the fights, but well, they were necessary to me to face the villains of each arc. But at the same time thery were never too difficult (I think the most difficult part to me was to be strong enough for the Dino Dig and the rest was pretty easy). When, at the end Sunny had to face Omori I was shocked. So, the guy I had been training which was very seemingly sadistic, did I simply train him so that if Sunny wanted to face his trauma, he would hunt him with his strenght? Like the stronger I made him, ther bigger the reluctance to overcome the past. And while this sadistic character seems to be what I would compare to a Chara in Undertale, to me it was the harsh self conscious, critical part of him who could never forgive for what he had done. And which was also manifested as the monster surrounding him and Basil. It was their perception that what they had done was unforgivable, but at the same time neither of them wanted to carry that burden alone: Sunny “forgot” it, Basil manifests it by making those toxic remarks like “you aren’t going to leave me alone again, are you?”.
I don’t know if we get to see more of Basil’s backstory but he also got me curious. I think that what both of them did was bad, but given what happened between Sunny and Mari, it was really hard to know how to face it. I don’t think it makes them willingly villains, but scared children who were very self conscious and didn’t know what would happen if people found it out.
However, hadn’t Basil been there, Sunny would have been found right away next to Mari’s corpse. So I wonder what led Basil to propose such idea and to make Sunny’s burden heavier, which made him ambiguity of his disappearance with the will to save him as a friend.
I don’t think it was an ill intention, but Basil created excuses to protect Sunny because he was important to him and to the group. As the photo album showed, Sunny was the younger element, seen as the baby of the group, and he was shy, but he loved his friends even if he looked the most expressionless.
I think these elements awoke in him the need to protect Sunny from the darkness that lied ahead his actions, but he didn’t realise how heavy of a burden that would be. At the same time he probably had some issued regardin expectations and self worth which probably told him that they could never be tied to such a cruel action, even if it was accidental.
In my perspective he didn’t see the dark shadow surrounding Sunny at the time, but he engraved the memory as an act not commited by Sunny but by something surrounding him, pretty much like when he started attacking him at the end.
I like to think that, good ending wise, the malevolent side, Omori is not necessarily a potential evil that was always within Sunny, but the self guilt and lack of self worth. The fact the Sunny wouldn’t leave the house and didn’t even take good care of his health shows it. He is self destructive, because guilt consumes him, not a person who needs to apply suffering in the outter world for his own satisfaction. The whole struggle is within Sunny and not ot become a bad person per se.
Some of Basil’s dialogue was too much for me, mainly when he kept repeating for Sunny to not leave him. However I totally understand why. Sunny covered the what had happened while Sunny had to live those years knowing what they had done, as if he was the only one carrying the burden.
It’s a real complicated story where everyone was the victim.
It was so hard to see how sad and angry Aubrey was, and how she had to make new friends to overcome, how alone she was all the time. How Kel kept being such a good person, however had to move away because he didn’t know how to face the others, afraid of being misinterpreted. Hero’s pictures with Mari break me everytime. “A match made in heaven” Basil had written in the description of one of the photos. The fact that he is the element in the group that cooks, but 4 years later he had given up. The fact he can’t face Mari’s grave. The way Kel describes his struggle over Mari’s death. The way he didn’t make new friends in college, although he says it was lack of time. Basil is completely broken and can’t even touch the camera anymore and tries to “destroy” the old memories, which Aubrey discovers. Sunny’s parents, as their life turned upside down. And probably everyone around was too afraid to know how to act around them.
I really like how despite everything, the human figure that Sunny creates of Mari is forgiveful and so cheerful. Mari is such a good influence that wants to help him overcome the trauma for himself (especially when she helps him overcoming the fear of drowning and calls him Sunny for the first time. The ways she asked for his forgiveness for pushing him so hard into playing the recital. It is still part of Sunny’s dream but it’s so in Mari’s character. I believe this part is also connected to the scene where we see her saving Sunny in the real world).
I will end this text here. I will eventually come back to it, and to the omori tag, because this is certainly a very good game with a lot of space for debate and reflection.
Annon-Guy: Thank you for your words and opinions. Which leads me to ask a curious thing? How come you and Kage think Richter is gay for Emil and Aster? Was it shown in Richter and Aster's Novel. Also, did Marta spread rumors about Alice in Alice's novel on purpose or was that an indirect thing of her end? Because it looks like Alice bullies Marta quite a bit. I think it's messed up to kill Marta just because she used to be weak and for being overdependant originally on Emil/Ratatosk and Brute.
It’s subtext, mostly. In Onshuu no Richter and the main game (I haven’t read the novels because I can’t read Japanese) Richter has, at the very least, a REALLY strong bond with Aster and seems very fond of Emil in the same respects. It’s possible to interpret this affection as brotherly love or platonic friendship, but the fact that he considers Rilena his friend and is not that close to her (he couldn’t even tell her Aster was murdered, only that Aster was killed) suggests that his relationship with Rilena is closer to what constitutes friendship by his metric and his relationship to Aster is different from that. He reveres Aster, taking what he said about courage to heart and using it as a motto. He has been shown blushing on very few occasions and those occasions are ONLY around Emil in the game and Aster in the manga. He’s shyer around Emil and very hesitant to get angry with him but is quick to snap at Aster but then instantly forgive him, suggesting that he wishes he had been kinder and more patient with Aster when he was alive, EVEN THOUGH he was already very kind and patient. Richter is also shown crying ONLY ONCE and it’s in the manga when Aster dies. Men, in general, cry less than women for two reasons. Firstly, they are socialized to cry less because tears aren’t considered masculine. Secondly, men have lower levels of prolactin, a hormone found in emotional tears (as opposed to reflexive tears like to keep your eyes moist and flush out dust or foreign material.) This is why it takes a lot more for men to cry. Richter keeps his emotions pretty well hidden so for him to cry visible tears suggests Aster’s death was, effectively, the worst thing we ever see happen to him. He doesn’t even cry when he realizes he’s responsible for the deaths of many in Palmacosta, even though he’s clearly upset about it. So he isn’t crying because someone died or that he feels responsible. He’s crying because he cared DEEPLY for Aster and he thinks Aster didn’t deserve to die. He also mentions in the game that “Aster was also innocent” as a way to justify the fact that he intends to take Marta’s life despite the fact that she’s not his real target. Clearly he thinks VERY positively about Aster. And we see him display the same amount of affection toward Emil. I think the love he showed for Aster was romantic, based on the fact that he, Aster, and Rilena were supposed to be mutual friends, but when Aster dies, Richter doesn’t go to her for support, doesn’t reciprocate Aqua’s obvious affections, and DOESN’T give up on trying to get Aster back, even when his plans go awry and even when he concludes Aster would be UPSET with him for doing everything he did to try to bring him back to life. And because I see this as a sign of romantic love, the affection he shows for Emil seems to be similar enough that I think it was also romantic. TL;DR, I think, based on the interactions in the game, we can see how Richter behaves with people he considers friends (Rilena/Aqua) and conclude that the affection shown to Emil and Aster is at least different from the affection he gives friends, and I have reason to believe that the fact that he blushes around both boys and cried over Aster’s death is enough to demonstrate that the love was romantic in nature. THAT BEING SAID. Mithos was shown to do nearly the exact same things for his sister, so the love Richter had for Aster (and by extension, Emil) could very well be BROTHERLY as opposed to romantic.  Curiously, if we look at deleted dialogue for the final battle with Richter, there are lines specific to an impossible scenario where you could have Genis or Raine in your party where he expresses that while he’d rather not fight other half-elves, it won’t stop him from fighting them to ensure he can fulfill his contract with the Demons to revive Aster. This is, again, more evidence that Richter cares for Aster more than he cares for the wellbeing of others like him, and also suggests that Richter ascribes to a form of tribalism where he values his connection with other half-elves, even ones he considers enemies. He just doesn’t value that connection more than Aster. Which I think speaks a lot to where his priorities lie. As someone who was a virtual prisoner at Sybak, he came to value a human more than people who suffered with him and supported him while he was at probably his lowest point in life. Aster takes precedence over everything else in his life. This is also shown in Tales of The Rays as Aster is outright said to be Richter’s ‘most important person.’ Richter values Aster and his safety over basically EVERYTHING ELSE in the world. So whether you interpret the love as fraternal, platonic, or romantic, it’s very clear that THE LOVE IS THERE. I just happen to interpret it as romantic because I feel like, considering the choices Richter has in potential romantic partners, the fact that he chooses Aster above Aqua who would do ANYTHING for him says a lot about what he thinks of Aster. And the potential for that to eventually extend to Emil is VERY clear in the context of the game and Manga. As for Alice and Marta, as I said, I haven’t really read the novels, but I think Marta didn’t actually think about the consequences of spreading those rumors. She doesn’t seem like she would do it maliciously, but I don’t necessarily think it was accidental either. She probably thought she was doing the right thing, but I’d need a bit more context to say definitively. I also think Alice’s bullying of Marta is definitely unreasonable because I think any form of bullying is expressly for power and I think pursuit of social power just to have it is pretty crappy. That being said, it’s in line with her character. She desires power over all others because she was treated cruelly as a child. With power comes control, and with control comes the potential to acquire more power. And when you have enough of that power, you can determine what outcomes you get in certain situations. You can manipulate people to do what you want. And that’s what Alice craves. Because as an orphan she had no choice in anything that happened to her. And that can screw you over massively. And it did. And she became completely unreasonable. Because what she experienced as a kid was also unreasonable, and she can’t envision a world that works in a way contrary to what she experienced as a kid. So when she grew up in unreasonably cruel circumstances, she became just as unreasonably cruel once she was able to grab the smallest ounce of power for herself. Much like Flowey from Undertale, Alice lives in a world where (according to her) everyone lives by the maxim “kill or be killed”, “bully or be bullied” She treats others cruelly because in her mind, if she didn’t, they would treat her cruelly the first chance they got. Which probably makes Marta particularly alarming to her because Marta’s probably one of very few people who would be capable of forgiving Alice for these sorts of things, and that’s a threat to Alice’s worldview. People aren’t just nice for no reason when you think like Alice.  Hope that all makes sense. XD I tend to really just brain-barf all over when I get really into these things.
Least favorite game from each console?
Oh, that’s a good one! I'll interpret that to mean each console that I've owned.
NES: MagMax. I was a little kid, and at the time I saw it, I had both an NES and an SNES. I had misread it as Mega Man X, which was being released in the near future. After begging my grandma to buy it for me, I realized my error when I got home and played it for the first time. I never did like side scrolling games like this, so I only played it once or twice.
SNES: I know I'll get flak for this, but, Star Fox. The characters were amusing, but I found it really hard to follow what was going on. The visuals were very confusing, and not in a good way. (Yes, there is a good confusing. I loved Starflight, but did not understand it at all as a kid.)
Genesis: I don't think I really had a least favorite, but that's because I didn't play many games on Genesis. The NES and SNES were mine, so they were located in my room. The Genesis was the family's, so it was in the living room--I tried to avoid them as much as possible, so it was only worth playing really good games.N64: I didn’t own one, but I’m including it because the N64 itself was my least favorite game on the console. I made an active choice to avoid it: I couldn’t tolerate the really horrible, blocky graphics. And no, I’m not saying that with hindsight in mind: that’s exactly how I felt about it at the time of release. My dentist had one in the waiting room and I refused to play it even then. It was painful to look at, and I just couldn’t do it.
Dreamcast: Tossup between Silver and Elemental Gimmick Gear. I have no idea why I didn't get into them; I played about 5 minutes and just never went back to them. I only have (yes, still have) a few other games--Skies of Arcadia, Star Wars Episode 1: Podracer, Star Wars: Demolition, Soul Calibre, House of the Dead 2, NHL 2K, and the one game I was obsessed with: Evolution.
Xbox: No contest, Sea Blade. It's one of the worst games I've ever played. I've almost never played any game as repetitively dull as this one. Every mission was the same as the one before, with slightly different flavor text. And far too much time just flying over an area doing nothing at all. I returned that one very quickly.
Playstation 2: I only got a PS2 to play Final Fantasy IX and X, because I really hated how uncomfortable their controller design was (still is). But since I had it, I decided to get a couple sequels to one of my favorite Genesis games, Road Rash 3. Both were for the PSX, but I intentionally had a small PS collection so I'm counting them: Road Rash, and Road Rash 3D. They were both missing the things that made Road Rash 3 fun, and I never got into them.
Xbox 360: I know there was a lot of hype for the recent sequel (and for the original), but I'd have to say Rage was my least favorite game for this console. It wasn't bad per se, just a little too ambitious for the limits of technology. It really didn't play well, with the long loading times and the frequency of disc swapping. I don't remember playing any other game with such poorly thought out disc swapping points. And despite the massive size of the game, data-wise, it was far too short to be worth the price I paid for it. The devs seemed to have spent more money on eye candy than content, so I played it very quickly and shelved it soon after.
Xbox One: This is an obvious pick, but Mass Effect: Andromeda. At first, I was forgiving of the glitches, and I tolerated the insensitive decisions about the gay characters and players because it was at least fun enough to play. But then I saw the homophobic rationale for making Jaal bi in the patch notes, and that was the end of Bioware for me. I never did finish the game; I couldn't stomach being that seriously disrespected by the devs.
PS4: I don't have enough games to have a least favorite, yet. I mainly got it for my BF, on the condition that I buy and get time to use PSVR. I got hooked on Beat Saber pretty quickly. I was a little disappointed with Star Trek Bridge Crew; the graphics look a bit fuzzy in comparison to Beat Saber and Wipeout Omega Collection. The thin text gives me a headache, which limits how long I can play. But I'm not sure I dislike it to call it a "least favorite" except in relative ranking.
PC: I've played some really crappy PC games, but I do have a top 3 worst. I've never found anyone who agreed, but this one I returned in anger back in the day of discs, when stores didn't permit game refunds: Morrowind. I completely lost the story the moment I got off the boat and couldn't find it again, even after 4 restarts. It just wasn't worth the awful experience.
Farm Simulator; given the way friends spoke of it, I was expecting something not far off from Harvest Moon, or Harvest in the Heartland. Instead, it was Ride a Tractor Simulator, and I don't think I've ever been that bored in my life before. But in the 5 hours it took to figure out the controls just to get started, I missed the refund deadline.
Lastly, I really wasn't into Undertale; I was looking for LGBT content and this game was praised for it. But I found the game really bland. I like linear games, but this took the idea too literally: moving back and forth on the same horizontal plane for the whole game just felt tedious. I gave it about 2 hours before stopping. But it's one of the few bad games I didn't attempt to refund; I wanted to support LGBT creators, even if it didn't quite appeal to me.
QUICK HIATUS
[ Okay okay, this one is quite the big change. But it’s for the best. With no futher do: I’m trasnforming this URL into a multimuse blog: the “Inter-Dimensional Outpost”! All my other blogs (@theflamesofjustice and @wilyrobots) will be archived, I won’t be deleting them. I will be permanely moving to @doctaskull as my multimuse blog, I like the URL of it so I won’t bother changing it.
OH!
Almost forgot ‘bout it!
I have a muse list, I plan to include all of them at some point so here we go:
Dr.Wily (Mega Man series. He’s packed in with all the verses you already know and more!)
Fire Man (Mega Man series. Probably won’t be receiving many verses if I’m being honest.)
Konro Man (Mega Man series, straight out Mega Man and Bass 2. A game about nobody played or knew about.)
Yoku Man (Mega Man series, straight out Mega Man Unlimited. Surprisingly he’s actually classified as a “public use” character.)
Flash Man (Mega Man series. I will be pulling out a lot from the Megamix characterization, I love the crazy flavour he have there.)
Pirate Man (Mega Man series. Expect a good ammount of Pirate slangs and swears.)
Tank Man (Mega Man series, straight out Mega Man Unlimited. A die-hard Wily loyalist and second-in-command regarding land forces.)
Sky Man (Mega Man series, straight out Mega Man 42. The personal bodyguard of Wily, if anything he’s on the levels of competitiveness as Bass but not without a ego to match it. Even without his hammer he can and will try to kick your ass.)
Ring Man (Mega Man series, straight out Mega Man 4. Again, Megamix inspired, he being a detective is both the most ridiculous and best thing to come out of that comic.)
Ombuds Man (Mega Man series, straight out Mega Man 42. A workolic office worker, he takes care of all paperwork of Wily or in whatever company he works at. He’s also great at roles of administration, such as a CEO or an secretary.)
Rico Rodriguez (Just Cause series. World’s Top Dictator Overthrowner, used to work to the FBI, but quickly enough he discovered all the unruly shit happening under the covers. Currently he works to no one but Liberty, you will find doing what he’s born to do, help resistance win against dictators. He’s going to be in with a bunch of verses to match his crazy life.)
Papyrus (From Undertale. This skeleton fella might seem just a over-the-top joyful and pure guy, but don’t be mistaken! He’s strong enough to beat you, but even more to forgive you and support you. I think my characterization and interpretation of his character will be very different from your usual Papyrus, I hope yall like it!)
Guos (A Hollow Knight OC. A lost vessel, born not from Hallownest, but definitely void-linked. He searchs for a home he lost, and for the parent he don’t remember. The only reason he know he lost something is because of a picture he carries together with his trusty bow and trustworthy knife.)
Forge (A Minecraft OC. Ever thought of how would a Patheon of Gods formed of the Minecraft Mods would look like? No? Because I did! This fella is the father of the whole of mods, the only one above him is the Vanilla, godification of Minecraft itself.)
Mustafa Savvas (A Original OC. Not going to say much about him, but he’s a traveller of worlds, he gets a new form to match the worlds where his original appearance doesn't fits in. If anything the most Multiverse character one can wish for.)
Vrammir (A Metroid OC. A lucky Zebesian who got his claws in a ancient Power Suit, he’s not as good as Samus, but if you have his trust he he’s just a determined and heroic.)
Nenqreid (A Metroid OC. Member of the High Command of the Space Pirates and Field Marshal for the entirely of the Zebesian Troops, he’s one of the most powerful forces before Ridley. Mess with him and you will have a storm coming for ya.)
Rusty (From the Steamworld series. Used to be a lumberjack, but as circumstances arrived he leaved his old job and went to claim the mines of his uncle. Now a miner he wonders what awaits for him. Will be packed with fundamental verses, for SWD1 and beyond.)
That’s about it, and don’t forget to bring our threads to my new account in @doctaskull! ]
what was chara and asriel/flowey relationship like? was it healthy or something
What we get to see of it isn’t fantastic. Chara makes fun of Asriel being a crybaby in one of the videos, and Asriel even admits that Chara wasn’t the greatest person. Asriel, even as Flowey, is very dependent on Chara for approval. He just goes along with anything and never says ‘no’ until they’re both dying. So… not amazing.
We know Chara held a lot of contempt for humanity, but decorations in their room would seem to indicate they cared a lot about their monster family. And Chara and Asriel shared BFF lockets. Chara genuinely seemed to feel like they could confide in their brother. So… not awful, either.
TBH, I don’t interpret their relationship as being *as* abusive as some people do. I think we need to remember that we’re talking about 8 - 11 year olds and that kids that age are just kind of crappy to each other. It doesn’t justify poor behavior, but it’s somewhat normal to go through? I was mean and dumb when I was 10, and I thought I was smarter and better than everyone. Hating humanity aside, I don’t feel like I was all that different from Chara when I was a kid.
Compounded with whatever “unhappy reasons” Chara came to the mountain for in the first place, I think some of their behavior is more forgivable as an angry child adjusting to a good environment. I don’t think we ever get a clear sense of how long Chara lived with the Dreemurs, so it could be that with time they would’ve calmed down more.
Their relationship maybe isn’t healthy– Chara is manipulative, dismissive, and puts down Asriel sometimes, and Asriel builds them up to be something bigger and better than what they really are. But we also don’t get to see the good moments between them? Or *most* moments? I don’t think I have a reason to believe it was totally loveless or something.
IDK I figure them as two realistic kids that do some dumb stuff.
And that however crappy their real relationship was, the events within Undertale are the moment where they either double down on what was bad about the relationship (Asriel’s complete subservience to Chara, Chara’s perceived identity as a demon with The Only Opinion Here That Matters), or grow up and do better (Asriel admitting his sibling was flawed, Chara encouraging you to SAVE Asriel).
