i love you (po5)
Tumblr media
pato x introverted!reader
summary: feelings begin to rise after the barber race
wc: 716
notes: this is just me trying this (writing for indycar) out! pls be nice, i’ve only watched a few races and am still learning what’s what. also i promise i’m working on the george story!!
You winced at the screen in front of you, watching as Pato’s car came in contact with Pietro’s, sending the Rahal into the barrier. You hold a hand in front of your mouth as you watch Pato continue driving, grateful that he was okay.
You know he’s going to be upset about the penalty, the radio message coming through your headphones confirms that. He sounds frustrated, angry even.
You know he wanted to do well. For his career obviously, but you knew a small part of him wanted to do well for you. You were still fairly new to Indycar, having watched races from home, sometimes yours, mostly his after he told you he liked having you there when he got home.
This was only the second race you’d attended in person, the first being the previous week in Long Beach. You and Pato had a private relationship. He knew you were more introverted and didn’t want to force you into the limelight before you were comfortable. He was ecstatic when you told him you were ready to attend a race with him. After spending almost a year together, slowly building your relationship, he was excited to finally be able to show you off and introduce you to his other love, racing.
He kept an arm around you during the race weekends, giving you his Arrow McLaren hat to wear while he was driving. He introduced you to the team and showed you his car, rambling on about different things while you smiled and nodded along.
You could tell he was disappointed to finish in the midfield in Long Beach, and seeing him angrily get out of his car after the Barber race you knew he was equally if not more upset.
You stand quietly to the side while he talks with his engineer, following behind him as he walks to the driver lounge.
He keeps quiet as he unzips his race suit, letting it fall to his waist. He searches through a cabinet, finally pulling out a snack, and another he tosses to you.
You don’t know what to say to him, afraid of how he’ll respond. He speaks first though.
“Sorry it was a shitty weekend.” His eyes don’t meet yours as he sits down.
You sigh, sitting next to him. “That penalty was bullshit.”
He looks up at you surprised. He could probably count the amount of times he’d heard you curse on one hand. “It happens.” He shrugs.
“No, it’s not like you wanted to hit him, because why the hell would you want that? And they made you drive through the pit, dropping you down so far you were driving by yourself!”
The scowl on his face slowly disappears, turning into a smile as you keep talking to him, angrily defending your boyfriend.
“They need to open their damn eyes and watch a replay-”
“I love you!” Pato laughs.
You freeze, your eyes widening at the man sitting next to you. “You… what?”
It’s then that Pato realizes what he’s said. He wonders if he should backtrack, attempt to take it back to make the terrified look on your face go away. But it’s as if someone plays a video of your relationship in his mind, showing him all the time you’ve spent together and how you’ve grown with one another.
“I love you.” He says quietly. A blush covers his cheeks as he looks down at his lap. “I wanted the first time I told you to be special, but it just kinda came out just now.” He looks back up at you and sheepishly smiles. “Look, you don’t have to say it back, I know we’re taking things slow, and even having you here was a big step so I understand if-”
It’s him who’s cut off this time as you press your lips to his. You gently hold his face in your hands, pulling away to look into his eyes.
“I love you too.” You murmur.
He grins before leaning in to kiss you again.
“I’m gonna win one soon. A real win, not because someone DQ’ed, and it’s gonna be for you.” He says when he pulls himself away from you, keeping an arm wrapped around you tightly, as if he’s not planning on letting you go.

when you watch lando's old footage back with his different teammates you can see his chemistry is so different with each and every one of him. you can see the observant and maybe nervous first year f1 racer that he was around carlos. the fire-meets-fire vibe that they brought, all the overflowing energy of being early 20somethings.
then you get the daniel era where it's honey and butter. both of them warm and charming and lando still learning from the other. but also lando also coming into his own as a racer and realising that he's not an imposter - he's on the level, if not better at that point, than the person who raced for red bull and has 8 GPs under his belt. even if that same racer seems a shadow of his former self at mclaren.
then you get the 2022 merry go round, and oscar. might as well be night and day when they first meet.
oscar, who keeps to himself, puts his head down and works. oscar, watchful and careful after the silly business with alpine. who probably knows he's coming into a buzzy environment with big personalities and huge expectations too - because who is this kid who had the audacity to basically flip off alpine? and via social media of all things (how very modern for an old-fashioned sport). how is this kid gonna make his mark on such a storied team, where the last win is almost now as old as him? what is he going to do with all that potential, right?
we love the machine, because we love watching the potential of a bright young thing fighting their way out of its jaws. lando was in there too, not so long ago, and the poison from that bite might still seep.
nobody knows what to expect. but lando gets to be the elder in the duo for the first time. lando's also going through a process in 2022-23 where he also seems to be entering a new phase of his life and realising some stuff about himself as a person too and what his priorities are. we'll never truly know what that process is (nor should we), but i think on this side of 2024 you can already see how he's handling himself out of it.
and we saw it maybe, in a bit of a smirk at oscar's first day for the car launch and oscar being late. a bit of wonder at oscar, who when suited up seems physically larger than what he remembers.
but then! oscar puts in the work. good chatter surrounds newbie and his working style, and oscar demonstrates maturity. he shows what a contender he is. that he's got his own approach, and he's ready, and – once the car comes – he starts backing that up with good results.
lando is competitive as hell on his own terms. but seeing a twenty one year old from the Reserve bench come in under er, fraught circumstances, then smashing out result after result from Suzuka onwards - surely that puts some fire under your ass in a big way. and! lando is someone who, i think despite his bad luck and lack of a win yet, is incredibly driven and has it in him to be a proper WDC contender. he has that quality. if his teammate is pushing him he's just going to push himself harder.
which culminates, interestingly, in soundbites we're getting recently. like the peter crouch interview, where lando says he's stopped DJ-ing because he's prioritising racing. not an easy decision to make i'm sure, and maybe one that would've happened without oscar's presence at mclaren anyway– but just one signal of where his headspace is probably at now and into '24. lando is also much more reserved about the soundbites he's giving lately (like "i'm not making any race or win predictions anymore and i'm taking things as they are because predictions haven't come true for me in the past, there's too much expectation on myself" etc etc.).
you might even describe it as... maturity.
and guess who has been described as incredibly composed and mature by the mclaren team?
exactly.

Olden times used to be a lot better for race car construction. Speeds were slower, and safety meant being able to re-use the driver after you won. Plus, nobody really knew what they were doing. You could throw an old fuel tank from an airplane onto an old truck frame, weld the two parts together, and once the fires were extinguished, you'd have a winning dragster.
Nowadays, decades of intense competition, workplace safety regulation, and the discovery of hyperfocus-related mental disorders have produced race cars that would have been completely unimaginable to our distant ancestors. You can zip down the straight faster than the aforementioned bomber plane could, slam into a copse of trees on the side of the road, and probably come out of it at least half alive. Winning? Yeah, you could do that too, but you'd need to be trained in the fine art of racecraft nearly from birth, unlike me.
I know a lot of people are tired of me complaining about how old garbage that you find on the side of the road is better than all the new garbage that you have to have a paying job in order to afford. I'm tired of saying it! Which is why I decided to put my money where my mouth is. Not literally, because I have no money and because the Canadian plastic currency has been chemically constructed to be disgusting to eat, but you get the idea.
In the interest of getting better at motorsport, I've decided to start from square one, myself. I went to the store, and I started welding some frame together, using the store demo welders. Naturally, I wore a reflective vest, so that everyone knew I was supposed to be there. I drove the resulting vehicle right out of the store, after a quick stop-off at the self-checkout to ring up a pair of overpriced Chapsticks. Then I've been driving my improvised rocket ship in the woods at night. It's hard work, but I figure eventually I'll learn what I did wrong with this piece of shit, and head back to do something better. By 2090 or so, I should be roughly caught up to the state of the art in 1925. For instance, I've already determined that my next race car should have headlights.

Murder Drones Rider Au + Uzi fanart
Or should i say... Murder Drive AU HEHEHEHE
This lovely amalgamation was made by yours truly when putting murder drones and pretty bikes on a blender hoping for something fancy. And i did it.
The mechanics are simple! (Haha get it? Mechanics)
Uzi is a moody mechanic (i will get real tired of the word mechanic and so will you.) Working in your local Auto shop: Copper's 9 ! Owned by daddy dearest Khan Doorman! She mostly does repairs and common car maintenance, aaand if she decides she likes you well enough you'll get some neat modifications for half the price! (Its a lie but only she knows that)
In her free time she stays around the back of the store repairing and selling old cars as a hobby that also doubles as a side hustle.
Her life in home isn't as sweet as she would hope for but she's learned to cope, something that she specializes in after her Moms disappearance; Nori Doorman, presumed dead.
Shes the only occupant of a nice little apartment, moving from their parents house a few years after Nori's disappearance and Khan's neglect. Rarely visited by anyone she stays little time in her apartment, either watching anime after a tiring day, eating lunch, showering after a messy oil spill or just existing after closing hours. Youll definitely see her more at the shop doing gods knows what this time. The reson why Uzi doesn't spend more time in the little home shes built herself is because of the atmosphere, too cold and gloomy for her liking, the barren space reminding her too much of her loneliness.
Tumblr media
("She looks soo much like Uzi" you all say in unison.)
Nathaniel, or best known as "N" is a Bike racer, youll see him proudly sporting his various motorcycles all earned by his sweat, hard work, and money from illegal races.
N has and incredible set of bad luck, following him like a stubborn rain cloud with every single bike he touches breaking down at some point. No matter how much he dotes over them or how carefull he is; they will break. And thats a promise from the universe, aparently.
He lives in a fairly big house with his other two roommates: Jay, "J" and Veronica, "V". They all participate in their own races, N and V competing frequently while J sits back and collects their winnings. J also participates in rare ocations.
When N is not flying through the streets, or winning the months rent he resides in his little corner of the garage painting, drawing, scrap booking or doing whatever craft he can get his hands onto.
(I will probably add more on N later on)
N and Uzi meet when Ns bike breaks in "the middle of nowhere" according to V, so he just sits quietly besides the road waiting for either backup (V showing up to rescue him after cackling over the phone and then hanging up) or to simply perish. Uzi was heading to the workshop in Railgun (a very beat up, highly modified but very loved minitruck that she herself constructed from other cars parts) When she came across a very puppy kicked to the side of the road sad looking person laying down besides the road by a very nice looking motorcycle. She slows down to take a quick peek to the bike when the person laying down jumps immediately at her side after noticing her slowing down, begging asking for a ride to the closest Auto shop explaining how his bike broke. Uzi (although very begrudgingly) decides to help this weird friendly stranger as her good deed of the year. She parks to the side of the road helping N heave the bike into the trunk and waits until he hops into the passenger seat to begin their way to Copper's 9.
After Fixing N's bike (and getting a tip she will not complain about) She gives the rundown on what the problem of the bike was and how to avoid it. N thanks her (a little too much if you ask Uzi) and parts ways. Uzi not dwelling about it goes on to the rest of her day, not thinking about seeing N again anytime soon.
Not even a week later N shows up again with another bike, this one looking like it went into the devils asscrack and back. Uzi just gives him a glare and gets to work.
That is NOT the last time that happens. (She counts 12 visits in one month, what the hell N?)
So! This is the basic information about my silly little Au, i don't have a name for it yet, I have been calling it Murder Drive for gits and shiggles but i don't know if I should make it the official name of this Au, if you have any suggestions tell me about it!
And I've been thinking about making it a fic buuut I've never written anything lengthy before, and English is not my first language so you can imagine how I feel.
Do tell me how you feel about it, or if you have any asks send 'em my way!
ALSO! THIS IS A HUMAN AU!! YAYAY HUMANS‼️‼️

Pairing: Carlos Sainz Jr. x Reader
Sumary: Small moments of Carlos with his little daughter.
Warnings: English is not my first language !!!There are probably many mistakes (I will correct them later), mentions of pregnancy, mentions of childbirth.
Gif: someone-worth-racing-for
Bienvenida a casa princesita = Welcome home princess
------------------------------------
From the first moment I thought that Carlos could not stop falling in love, but it turned out that I was completely wrong.
I had fallen in love with many of Carlos' facets, but definitely none compares to his facet as a father.
Seeing him with his little princess, as he had nicknamed her since we learned that a little girl was on her way, made me fall deeply in love again.
(...)
He was a complete gentleman throughout the pregnancy, I could not even take half a step when I already had him next to me to help me even if I did not need it.
Y/N- Carlos I swear to god!, you're stressing me, I'm pregnant not sick, so for now I can move without you being stuck to me all the time.
C- I just don't want anything to happen to them.
Y/N- honey, I understand and believe me that if I need help I will call you.
(...)
The first day back from the hospital, as soon as he entered the house and after leaving the bags, he took the little girl out of the car seat and gave her a tour of the whole house.
C- Bienvenida a casa Princesita.   Kissing his little forehead.
Y/N- do you want me to prepare something?
C- I should be the one to ask that, you've done all the hard work
Y/N- I'm fine, enjoy a moment alone before I need to feed her.
Father and daughter went to the sofa while I went to the kitchen to prepare something, in the distance I could see how my baby slept comfortably on her father's chest and I do not know if it is a little early to say it but... I think she'll be completely a daddy girl.
(..:)
I could spend hours watching how small our princess looked on her daddy's chest, while he caressed her back, in an effective attempt to maintain her sleep.
Y/N- I can't believe how quickly the months passed, it seems that only yesterday we learned of its existence.
C- don't remind me, right now I hate time, I love to go fast but believe me I would give anything to make moments like these last forever.
Y/N- I think that on our part what we can do is enjoy it while we can and maybe in a few years we can give him a little brother and I will be able to have Mommy's little boy.
Carlos' eyes immediately sought mine to confirm my words.
C- I definitely don't mess about you.

*I made up a random name for the book in this story, but odds are there's actually is a book by that title, because to me it sounds so generic so someone is bound to have used it. Just roll with it.
(Y/h/c) = Your hair color
Tumblr media
The sound of the tiny electric car approaching rapidly should have been warning enough. But (Y/n) found her nose deep in her latest book, one she'd gone as far as to create a elusive cover for with washi tape. Due to her embarrassment of her latest taste in literature, and considering why she was so enthralled with such stories since she began working nights at the museum. Should she have saved these stories for when she was home, nestled in the comfort of her favorite reading chair, and surrounded with privacy? Yes, she probably should have. But that was easier said than done, considering just how perfect this particular book had been so far.
'He trailed kisses along her pulse point, taking his sweet time as he drank her in. His dexterous leather clad fingers inched slowly from the back of her neck, trailing down her clavicle, to the swell of her breast, where he gave a playful almost needy squeeze. As his nose gently nudged the underside of her jaw, tilting her head back further, and his fingers continued their journey. Fire was left in their wake across her bare skin, and making her ache in ways she never knew was possible. His hand grasped firmly on her hip, as he nudged her legs apart with his knee, whispering sweet nothing's as he began kissing down the valley of her breast. "What a sight you are darlin'." His voice drawled deliciously as he peered at her untouched flower. "Sweet I'll bet." He hummed as he inched his face closer and closer to where she needed him most. "Oh~." She breathed out a soft moan as his tongue-'
"Evenin' darlin'!" Jedediah called out as he and Octavius existed their hotrod. In an instant (Y/n) snapped her book closed with a very audible thump. Then, without thought, she shoved the book underneath her right thigh, as a precaution that no one would learn of what she was reading. Her cheeks flushed as she looked down to the cowboy and centurion, their confession evident on their faces as they peered up at her questioningly. "H-hi guys." She stumbled over her words, clearing her throat immediately afterwards in an attempt to calm her racing heart. "Good evening (Y/n)." Octavius called out to her, attempting to move on from the odd encounter. Jedediah on the other hand, was having none of it.
"Watcha readin' there darlin'?" He asked as he tried to peer at the book only just barely poking out from under her thigh, frowning a little when he realized he could only see the edges of the page and no title. "Oh! Uh n-nothing just a u-um." She trailed off trying to think of a quick lie. "Horror story!" She suddenly belted out, chuckling nervously as she wiped her sweaty palms against her pants, hoping her lie was convincing. "Is that why yer so jumpy?" Jed asked with a tilt of his head, while Octavius looked at him confused, clearly having seen right through her lie. (Y/n)'s eyes darted around for a moment, unable to look at Jed without blushing all over again. "Yes yes exactly, it's very..." She trailed off, subconsciously thinking back on the words she'd just been reading moments ago. "Scary." She concluded in a soft tone, before shaking those thoughts away.
"Perhaps we could read it some time." Octavius suggested, knowing damn well she was lying, and attempting to get her to admit it. "O-oh no n-no it's um... It's not my bo-book I'm afraid!" She cursed herself internally for still being so flustered. "Maybe you could read it to us then." Octavius pushed, a cheeky grin on his face when he noticed just how deep her blush became. "No I uh don't read aloud to well, an-and I don't really have a good reading voice." (Y/n) cleared her throat once more, squirming a little out of nervousness. "Are ya crazy? Your reading voice is real sweet I'll bet." Jed tried to encourage her, unknowingly making her thighs clench at the words 'sweet I'll bet'. But Octavius noticed, and suddenly realized exactly the kind of book she was reading.
"Ah well perhaps another time." Octavius suddenly stated before pulling Jedediah back by his vest, confusing the cowboy as he waved goodbye as he spoke again. "We'll leave you to your story then." He stated before all but shoving Jedediah to the car. "See ya later darlin'!" Jed called out, complying to Octavius' silent demand to get in the car. (Y/n) waved goodbye despite averting her eyes to the rather "interesting" part of chipped tile on the floor. "What was that for? I wanted to-" Octavius cut Jedediah off by simply holding his hand up. "My friend." He started before casting his gaze to (Y/n), who could be seen inching her fingers towards her book. "(Y/n) is reading a scandalous book." He stated as Jed followed his line of sight.
"What do ya mean scandalous?" Jed questioned as Octavius began driving away. "I mean a romance novel that takes a rather lewd turn." Octavius tried explaining without actually saying it, but Jedediah understood this time. "Oh... Oh!" He muttered under his breath before frowning. "How would you know?" He quickly questioned, making Octavius sputter a bit. "This-this isn't about me!" Octavius quickly defended himself, turning Jedediahs attention back to the matter at hand. "Didn't you see the way she was acting? She couldn't handle looking at you without blushing!" The Roman pointed out, his words effectively directing Jedediahs attention elsewhere. "Well... So what?" Jed concluded with indifferent confusion.
"Well that means she's probably reading that story with you on her mind!" Octavius pointed out, as if it was obvious. "No." Jed denied the notion, making Octavius groan as he slammed on the breaks, jostling Jedediah in the process. "Hey what are ya doin'!?" Jed hissed as he readjusted his hat, which had become lopsided. "That means she likes you, you idiot." Octavius pointed out as if it were obvious, which admittedly it was pretty obvious. "Yer crazy." The cowboy shook his head, a faint blush dusting his cheeks at the notion. "Fine if you don't believe me, I'll just have to prove it to you." Octavius decided before making speeding off, needing some reinforcement in order to do what needed to be done.
----
They watched and waited for the precise moment before enacting Octavius' plan. The moment coming when (Y/n) began her rounds to ensure all the doors that needed to be locked were still locked. "Now!" Octavius exclaimed as if they were charging into battle, him and his men along with Jedediah rushed as quickly as they could to cross the room. Then they climbed up to the bench where (Y/n) had left her book lay, right beside her bag of assorted trinkets she would toil with to occupy her mind. Luckily she left it with the spine away from her bag, making it possible for Octavius' men to heave the large cover open. It took a few minutes, and much encouragement from Octavius, before the solid cover of the book swung open and fell with a loud bang. Well... Loud for them.
Octavius and Jedediah climbed up the thick book, walking across it to read the title. "A Cowboys Lust." Jed read aloud, a blush creeping up his neck. He couldn't look at Octavius, so his eyes cast to his feet, where he realized they stood on a large image. And image of a blond cowboy, holding a woman with (Y/h/c) hair firmly against his body as he kissed her throat, her body scarcely covered by a thin sheet as he held her in his lap on horseback. Octavius had been observing the image as well when he realized what Jed was looking at, a smirk spreading across his face as he noted the similarities between the characters in the book and (Y/n) and Jedediah. "I told you so." Octavius stated as he placed his hands on his hips. "Shut up." Jed quickly shot back, sulking away, much to Octavius' confusion.
"Well what's wrong now?" Octavius questioned as he and Jed hopped down from the book, silently signaling for his men to close the book so as to not raise suspicion. "What's wrong?" Jed chuckled bitterly. "What's wrong is I'm not even a fraction of her size! I couldn't... We could never... I can't even hold her hand!" Jed exclaimed dramatically, making Octavius hum in acknowledgement. "That does pose a problem." The Roman mused aloud, making Jed scoff. "Ya think?" The cowboy retorted sarcastically. "Well... Maybe Ahkmenrah can do something about that with his tablet? We've never asked him before." Octavius offered as they stood a good ways away from his men, near the edge of the bench. Jedediah sighed sadly before descending down their makeshift ladder, unable to allow himself to feel any semblance of hope that they could do something about it.
Octavius wasn't about to let it go like Jedediah had, he knew all to well how much his dear friend cared for (Y/n), and he always was a sucker for romance. For two nights Octavius and Ahkmenrah worked in secret, to figure out a way to temporarily change Jedediahs height. And when Jedediah finally found out what they were up to, Ahkmenrah was confident he'd finally figured it out. "Now hold on." Jedediah started, hating the flicker of hope that bloomed in his heart. "Ya can't just-" He tried to argue, but Octavius had cut him off. "You'll thank us for it." The centurion stated before waving an encouraging hand to Ahkmenrah, who with a nod of his head began pressing the appropriate buttons.
The tablet glowed a brilliant bright gold, making all three men's eyes widen in anticipation. But nothing happened. The glowing dimmed and snuffed out as quickly as it had came, leaving Ahkmenrah and Octavius confused, while Jed tried to swallow the knot in his throat brought on by disappointment. "I don't understand, it should have-" Ahkmenrah was suddenly cut off by the sound of (Y/n) screaming from down the hallway. Ahkmenrah quickly snatched up Octavius and Jedediah before dashing out into the hall to see what had happened. But as they locked eyes on (Y/n), they saw that she was shrouded in that same brilliant golden glow that the Tablet of Ahkmenrah had just been bathed in, the sight making Ahkmenrah freeze in his tracks. "(Y/n)!" Jedediah called out to her.
"What's happening?" (Y/n) called out as she locked eyes with the Egyptian Pharaoh. But before he even had a chance to utter a word, (Y/n) suddenly glew so bright they had to look away. And when they looked back, she was gone. "(Y/n)!" They all shouted in unison, panic bubbling within each of them, that is until movement caught their attention. There she was! In the exact same place she had been, only now she stood at about an inch tall. "Put me down!" Jedediah hollered, and Ahkmenrah complied, setting him and Octavius down gently after he crossed the majority of the distance between them and (Y/n). Which was only about 12 feet, but he knew to them it would have felt like miles.
"Jed." (Y/n) called to him with confusion etched onto her face, the wind being knocked from her lungs when he suddenly embraced her in a bone crushing hug, his hat having flown off from the impact. "Jed." She wheezed quietly, making him loosen his grip in an instant. "Sorry!" He blushed in embarrassment, keeping ahold of her shoulder when he pulled back from the hug. "What's going on?" She questioned as she looked around, realizing quickly that she'd somehow been shrunk. "That would be my fault." Ahkmenrah chimed in, smiling sheepishly. "Mine as well." Octavius cut in. "But we were trying to make Jedediah grow!" The Roman quickly added. "I'm not sure what happened." Ahkmenrah mused as he looked to his tablet. "It shouldn't be permanent though." He added as he looked back to (Y/n).
"Shouldn't?" She breathed out fearfully. "I'm sure it will be fine." The Pharaoh reassured her, again smiling sheepishly. "Why exactly where you trying to make Jed grow in the first place?" (Y/n) asked as she looked to Octavius, her gaze turning back to Jedediah when he released her shoulders, to instead hold her hand between both of his. "Well darlin'... It's because I've been wanting to ask ya out on a date." Jed explained anxiously, his piercing eyes gazing longingly into her own. "You?... You do?" She asked in honest surprise, not realizing that Ahkmenrah and Octavius were slowly leaving to give the pair privacy. "Course I do. Do ya have any idea how incredible ya are?" Jed mused with a large smile, using his right hand to turn her head to look at him, when she bashfully looked away.
"I'm serious (Y/n), yer incredible." He whispered softly, slowly leaning in for a kiss. (Y/n)'s eyes widened at the realization of what was happening, and when a fleeting thought that this could be her one and only chance to kiss him occurred, she shut her eyes and closed the distance. The kiss was filled with passion and tenderness, nothing quite like anything else (Y/n) had ever experienced before. "Is it bad that I don't ever want the spell to reverse?" Jed asked softly as they parted for air, his question making (Y/n) lightly smack his shoulder with a playful glare. "What?" He chuckled with bright sparkling eyes. "How about that date cowboy?" (Y/n) changed the subject, her words immediately sparking the perfect idea in Jedediahs head. "Come on." He grabbed her hand and swept her away, spending the rest of the night riding around on his beloved horse, simply enjoying each other's company and forgetting about the what ifs of the whole situation.

*Making a custom cover with washi tape on scandalous books is something I actually do. Because I will read them while out and about, and especially on downtime at work, and I'd die if anyone was to see the actual cover and know what I'm reading. And if I ever feel like someone is getting nosey over my shoulder, I snap the book closed and wait until they've gone before picking it back up. 😅 Stupid I know, but what can I say?

Quickshadow is amazing the essay
This is for @cayennesugar and cayennesugar only
Quickshadow is a Rescuebots character that appears in the show’s fourth season. She prefers to work solo and is absolutely perfect.
She’s obviously skilled in her craft and she knows it. She is confident and snarky but she’s also not a villain which I like. She’s not a braggart, but she doesn’t pretend that others are better at a job then her. The first thing she says to Heatwave when they first formally meet is that he is short. I didn’t really get why people shipped them together but some of what she does could be read as flirting (theirs an episode where she appears and when Heatwave asks why she’s back on Griffin Rock she says something along the lines of ‘I thought you missed me’ in a sarcastic tone). I don’t personally ship them but I see the appeal. Heatwave and Quickshadow have a very interesting relationship to me. I want to see them interact more because it’s fun.
When she was assigned to work with the rescue bots she seemed sort of upset when Blades said Heatwave didn’t like her (looking at her face she seems a bit more surprised) which I think is interesting. She doesn’t intend to offend Heatwave and probably wanted to be on good terms with him. She doesn’t do teamwork and seems to be introverted but that doesn’t mean she would be opposed to the idea of ✨friendship✨ and I do think that they would work well together, especially after the episode where she was put in charge. Teamwork is something that she did need to learn, but she still chooses to work on her own because that’s what she is good at and how she best works. She has her own system and I respect that. I also like that she wasn’t really an antagonistic force or rival to the rescue team. She was actively helping before she revealed herself and was teaching the team a lesson that they would need to learn eventually. Chase was prepared for the issue that arose when the plan went wrong and she was able to learn.
I absolutely love her transformation. It’s probably my favorite in the show because it does a good job of conveying her personality. She is quick witted and has a tendency to show off. She has a strong skill set and is well coordinated. I just really love the way it looks, it’s one of the smoothest bits of animation in the show. And her design is fantastic! She isn’t given boobs that would be out of place amongst the others and doesn’t have eye lashes or lipstick like other female transformers have had in the past. The main way you’d tell the difference in gender is her voice and the fact that the others use she/her pronouns when referring to her. Her head piece is also quite unique, the darker color contrasts nicely with her mostly white color scheme. I like the blue used for her as well, and I really like that she has her wheel on the right side of her car in vehicle mode because she’s British. She has a small amount of kibble that looks nice with the rest of her robot mode.
I like that she can manipulate her body to be able to gain speed, travel faster underwater, and even fly for short periods of time/slow her fall. She could 100% fight in a war and kick some ass. Not that the rescue bots are actually physically weaker from the other Cybertrionians, they handle environments much better than a lot of the autobots in prime. But that’s off topic. Quickshadow has one of like three fight scenes in the show. She takes on a temporary mentor roll to Blurr and Salvage but doesn’t like it because they are special. When she races Blurr she wins not because she’s faster but because she was smarter (which is a lesson that Blurr would utilize in a later episode) and the way she talks to Optimus makes me think that she is known for this. Also her message to Optimus is one of the best ways to do a ‘last time on…’ it made me actually listen to it instead of just skipping over and it’s very engaging in my personal opinion.
Also she’s British
I like her a lot. She should be used in more stories as she has a unique perspective and skill set. I also just really really like her. Hasbro please make better toys for the rescuebots I will buy all your overpriced legacy figures if you just make more rescue bots.

Abu Dhabi GP 2023 Reflection
This race was very bad and very intriguing at the same time. I was on the edge of my seat (laying on my bed in a fetal position) the whole time. I didn't know what was going to happen when it came to the point finishes.
Ferrari is going to hell. Carlos said he was struggling with the hards, so they called him in to put on another set of hards! They know that you have to run 2 different compounds or else you get disqualified! Also why the fuck banking on a safety car! We've had multiple races this season where there hasn't been one triggered! Y'all should have started him on mediums like everyone else! Now he's getting verbally assaulted on all platforms about how he ruined his team's chances for P2!! And it's not even his fault!! And he retired so as to not get disqualified. Ferrari has fucked up races but not to this extent. I'm very shocked about how low they can go
Tumblr media
Toto is just a yapper. Like what does he even do successfully?? I have no idea! There was no reason for him to get on the radio and say this! Anyways congrats to Mercedes for getting P2 or whatever. Build Lewis a race winning car!
Yuki bestie I am so proud of how much you've grown this season. Like he led a grand prix for multiple laps! AlphaTauri didn't fuck up his race!
I watched the replays of the Lando and Checo collision and it kinda looked like a racing incident. Checo was ahead at that apex. I literally don't understand what should get a 5-second penalty or not though. The stewards are so flip-floppy
Alpine I literally don't know what's wrong with y'all. Why does Pierre keep qualifying higher just for them to give Esteban the more favorable strategy. This is worse than calling for team orders over a point. The post race interviews are gonna be spicy
They had Charles playing chess with the strategy and it would have paid off if FERRARI GAVE CARLOS A GOOD STRATEGY. I STILL BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED
I still don't understand why Fernando brake-checked Lewis. It was sooooo unnecessary and there was no investigation either. Congrats to him for winning the P4 battle. But he shouldn't pull that shit again like what the fuck
This race had a lot of action but nothing going on at the same time. It felt different from most of the races that happened this. Even though most people say that this was one of the worst seasons of f1 ever, I was entertained a lot. Probably because it's the only season I've watched in-full. I still had fun learning a lot about the drivers and how the cars work. I hope next year will be more competitive, one person winning nearly 90 person of the races is not cute.

Bengiyo's Queer Cinema Syllabus
For those who are not aware, I have decided to run the gauntlet of @bengiyo’s Queer Cinema Syllabus and have officially started Unit 2: Race, Disability, and Class. The films in Unit 2 are: The Way He Looks (2014), Being 17 (2016), Naz and Maalik (2015), The Obituary of Tunde Johnson (2019), Margarita With a Straw (2014), and My Beautiful Laundrette (1985)
Today I will be writing about
The Way He Looks (2014) dir. Daniel Ribeiro
(image descriptions in alt text)
Tumblr media
[Available on Amazon, Run Time- 1:36, Language: Portuguese]
Summary: Leonardo is a blind teenager searching for independence. His everyday life, the relationship with his best friend, Giovana, and the way he sees the world change completely with the arrival of Gabriel.
Cast Ghilherme Lobo as Leonardo, a blind teenager Fabio Audi as Gabriel, Leonardo’s love interest Tess Amorim as Giovana, Leonardo’s best friend
__
Tumblr media
I will tell you right now that I was so excited when I saw this on Ben’s list of films. I remember watching the 15 minute short I Don’t Want to Go Back Alone that was made in 2011, with the same premise and actors. The popularity of that short resulted in the creation of a feature length film that aired in 2014. I have not seen this movie probably since 2014, but I remember that I deeply deeply loved both the short and the feature film.
So though there are a metric fuck ton of movies on this list, and it would honestly be smarter overall of me to skip over the films I have already seen. There is no way in hell that I will be doing that for this film. I would like to experience the nostalgia, thank you very much.
As a note, while I am slowly starting to embrace “disabled” as an identity for myself, I do not have Leo’s disability, and would be curious to hear if anyone who is legally blind has seen this film and what their thoughts on the portrayal of blindness in it is. Obviously you do not have to do that. So with the acknowledgement that the actor who plays Leonardo is not blind in real life, I think it is time to talk about this film!
Tumblr media
I love that you can tell immediately this is going to be a gay film because it opens with a pool scene, and as we should all know by now, the pools are for the gays. I think this film does an incredible job of setting up Leonardo’s blindness for the audience both in the way that she does not properly disguise her smile at the joking suggestion that Leo and her kiss because she knows Leo can’t see her reactions as well as in the very casual way Leo continues to talk to Giovanna after she has dipped underneath the water again because he cannot see where she went.
I like that much of Leonardo’s character really revolves around straining against the barriers his parents have placed around him, and being a normal teenager. It is very important to me in pieces that include disability that the disabled person is portrayed as close to a normal person as they can be. Leonardo doesn’t communicate with his parents when he decides to stay out late, he sneaks out of his house, he has a crush on a boy he isn’t quite sure likes him back. Walt Junior in Breaking Bad gets in fights with his parents and gets mad at his mom because she takes away the fancy car Walt bought him. Heart in Moonlight Chicken sneaks out, and wants to learn how to drive a moped, and work a job.
It is possible to show where someone’s limitations are and the adaptations that exist as a result of them, while ensuring that you are not doing what Leo’s mother is often doing and infantilizing her teenage son because she is worried about his safety (which is like, also just a Mom thing so I’ve heard).
Tumblr media
Something that I have noticed in a few of the romance plots that involve disabled characters (since this entire syllabus is a build up to watching BLs I will use The Way He Looks and Moonlight Chicken as my comparison points here) is that the disabled character is often treated with kid gloves by the people who have known them the longest, and that a new character comes in that is generally unfamiliar with their disability, can forget they have it, and generally treats the disabled character with far more normalcy than the rest of their friends and family.
And that trend exists in both The Way He Looks and in Moonlight Chicken. In Moonlight Chicken, Li Ming meets Heart, doesn’t understand that he is Deaf initially, but then does start learning sign language, but even as he learns sign language sometimes he will catch himself starting to speak without signing, forgetting that Heart can’t hear him, and then he will stop mid-sentence and correct his behavior. In The Way He Looks, Gabriel frequently makes comments or suggests activities that rely on sight and remind Leonardo and the audience that Gabriel forgets about Leo’s disability. I like this in the way that Leo is trying to show the people in his life that he can be independent, and they are having a difficult time adjusting to that reality. His parents worry for his safety and Giovanna wants to believe that Leo needs to rely on her and her help because she has a crush on him and wants to keep him close.
And while I am not blind, and I do not interact frequently with blind people in person, I will say that one of my favorite moments in this film is when Gabriel walks Leo home by himself for the first time, and forgets to tell Leo about possible hazards on the sidewalk. This continues to affirm that while there are positives to Gabriel forgetting Leo’s disability in terms of allowing Leo to have more freedom and to get new experiences, like going to the movies, that Gabriel isn’t perfect and that for all the independence Leo wants, there are going to be things that he will want or need help with that people have to be prepared to enact. I love this moment too for the fact that Gabriel apologies, Leo says “it’s alright, you’ll warn me next time” and still allows Gabriel to keep their arms linked while also pulling out his cane so that he can have a safer and more secure understanding of the sidewalk in front of him and identify any potential hazards himself. And I love even more that he continues to use his cane for days or weeks after he stumbles over a tripping hazard until Gabriel tells him he can put the cane away (an indication that he feels comfortable with his role in helping Leo navigate without having to be explicit about it).
Tumblr media
There are lots of wonderful little details in Ghilherme’s performance, and even in the props and sets. More than once in the movie, someone will touch Leonardo, kiss him on the cheek, etc and he will very subtly jerk back, caught off guard by not being able to see the action coming. You can see his walking cane sticking out of the side pocket of his backpack. At home, Leo is frequently in the dark, which is double fun because lots of gay shit happens in the dark, and because it is yet another subtle reminder that Leo is totally blind. He has no use for lights.
I like that Leo’s friends and teachers don’t just let abuse happen to him, and will interject if they see classmates act out of line, but I also appreciate that Leo does not really seem that bothered or impacted by the bullying he faces. We never see him breakdown about it, we never really see him lose his spark. He never appears to be worried about what people will do or say to him. His biggest hang up for about half the film is the fact that his best friend is mad at  him and won’t talk to him, and that he wants to study abroad. That is primarily what he worries about. Yet he isn’t one of the stoic sufferers either, we get to see those little moments of self consciousness, when he says he can’t dance, when he waits to go in to the showers until everyone else has left because it’s awkward, etc.
I love that there is not suffering in this film, even as there are direct and indirect references to ableism and homophobia. Leo’s bullies make comments about how being friends with Gabriel have turned Leo more masculine, they make comments about Gabriel and Leo being in a relationship just because they are linking arms to Gabriel can guide him, Gabriel kisses Leo and then runs away immediately afterwards. Leo’s bullies wave their fingers an inch in front of Leo’s face close enough where he feels something is maybe off but can’t tell what it would be, they make comments about the machine he uses to take notes, they try to get him to kiss a dog during the spin the bottle game. And for all that these moments of cruelty exist, the bullies are literally silenced at the end and the main bully is made to look like a fool with the acknowledgement of Gabriel and Leonardo’s relationship. All of the bully’s friends start laughing at him, when Leo stops and takes Gabriel’s hand. Giovana is upset that Leo has a crush on Gabriel, not because he is gay, but because she had a crush on Leo and is realizing that she has no chance with him.
Considering this is a movie in the race, disability, and class section I do kind of wish that we could have gotten a bit further into the intersection of disability and queerness here, two oppressed and marginalized identities.  But ultimately, it is not that kind of film and that is totally okay.
Tumblr media
By, For, About
Tumblr media
Again, I do not know for certain the sexuality of the people who are involved in the storytelling elements of this show, but I think I am leaning towards By and About queer people. Because being queer is not the central aspect of this story to me, rather the mounting desire for independence and general high school friend drama is far more prominent of a theme in this film, I do not think it is for queer people.
It is wonderful, and there are many moments in it that do not let you forget these characters are queer. Leo masturbates wearing Gabriel’s hoodie, Gabriel sees Leo naked in the shower and gets a boner, etc. But for me this story is about possibility, independence, friendship, and love rather than The Queer Experience™.
Favorite Moment
I am torn between two. The first being the movie theater scene and the second being the eclipse scene. Ultimately they have similar vibes which is why it’s hard for me to choose.
Tumblr media
In the movie theater scene, Gabriel has just prior learned that he and Leo both wanted to procrastinate on their history project, and Gabriel suggests they go see a movie, forgetting Leo can’t see. But Leo agrees to go, and we get this really beautiful moment of Leo getting a chance to lean in close to Gabriel (ah the intricate rituals to touch the skin of other men) and to ask him to narrate what is going on. I love it because it shows us this gentle way of Leo helping Gabriel to adapt the theater experience, and the fact that they are whispering back and forth to one another feels like they are telling secrets, even as Gabriel is simply telling Leo what he is seeing on screen. I love too the aftermath of that movie trip being that Giovana is upset that she wasn’t invited, and though we don’t get much more than a line from Leo akin to “we never go to the movies” that line itself speaks volumes, at least to me, about the boxes that Leo’s loved ones have put him in. Leo is blind, so why would he ever go to the movies? He can’t see what’s on screen. Yet because Gabriel at that point in the film often forgets that Leo is blind, Leo is able to experience something new and to find a way to guide Gabriel so that they can both enjoy the experience.
Tumblr media
Similarly, Leo is invited by Gabriel to go and watch the lunar eclipse, before Gabriel once again realizes that Leo cannot see it. But Leo still agrees, and we get another beautiful moment where Gabriel tries to explain what an eclipse is and what it looks like to Leo. We get this tender moment where Gabriel has an excuse to gently touch Leo’s cheek as he asks “You know how your face is warmed by sunlight?” at the beginning of his explanation (ah, the intricate rituals that allow men to touch the skin of other men). I love that Gabriel and Leo are once again able to share a moment, once again in the dark, and this time Gabriel does not have to be guided towards narrating the view as much as Leo asks a single question and Gabriel tries multiple ways of discussion the concept until he sees what explanation clicks in Leo’s head.
Favorite Quote
“Leo, if you had ever stolen a kiss from someone, how would you give it back?”
Tumblr media
This entire script is wonderful, but there is absolutely no better line than this one. This is one of the last lines of the film, and Gabriel asks it after he has finished casually providing information about his crush until Leonardo picks up on the fact that Gabriel is talking about him.
Score
10/10.
God, truly, I feel like maybe I’m too lenient on these films, because I don’t think I’ve scored anything below a 9 yet. But it’s not my fault that I am thoroughly enjoying my time.

MY THOUGHTS ON EPISODE 7X08
First off: RIP RICO PRIEM. There needs to be better safety precautions and LAWS put into place, not just contract negotiations, to ensure the safety of all cast and especially crew. No one should have to die to see our favorite show get made. We can week a few weeks/months between episodes if that is what it will take. Our little weewoo show is not more important than people getting home safe.
-honestly, tell him how it is Amir. Bobby affected more lives than just the 148 he took. As much as I love his growth and how he’s healed, the trauma extends past his victims into generational trauma that will probably be felt for several generations.
-it’s so emotionally jarring sometimes to see fun loving bobby who’s worked hard to piece his life back together. and then also remember, he’s the cause of 148 lives being taken. like....how does the man have a job? he would not experience the same treatment of the freedom he’s been allowed post apartment fire if he was a man of color.
-i love how the characters are flawed and not perfect people.
-MAY GRANT where you been my baby
-Athena/Bobby goals 🥰
-so bobby comes from a long line of abusive alcoholics and has been a people pleasing emotional therapist for most of his life, good to know. good. to. know.
-i haven’t personally been too fond of the whole amir’s gonna burn the building down because it kind of plays into stereotypes of black men being violent and unable to work through their emotions in a healthy way.
-i do think race aside, it’s a possibility but after tonight’s episode, it’s not something i wanna be dead set on or right about because fighting fire with fire is not good for anyone involved, no matter how much gut wrenching pain they’ve caused you.
-i mean the cartel is a storyline they haven’t touched on before. i wonder what’s next? bridge collapse? plague outbreak? eddie being demisexual?
-side note: that guy’s flowing long hair is actually so pretty
-his mother should have stepped in more
“you can keep your amends, i didn’t ask for it. it doesn’t mean a damn thing to me.”-oh damn damn DAMN they got me crying on bridgerton day AGAIN
-oh please don’t tell me bobby learned how to cook out of trauma of almost burning his house down because he had to take on the role of his mother after she left his alcoholic father
-Bobby Nash? Nah. Bobby BURNT.
-Get up Amir! Don’t die! You’ve come too far! (in the wise words of my father: a black man can’t ever catch a break, can he?)
-is he actually a ranch worker? don’t trust a man with a truck you don’t know kids. DONT DRINK THE WATER. ITS GONNA KNOCK YOU OUT.
-of course the guy with the car WAS HIS GRANDSON
-did i not just tell you to not take candy from a strange man you just men in the middle of nowhere?
-BOBBY NASH DOES HIS OWN STUNTS
-ommercial break mantra to calm myself: athena will always find you, don’t worry. do what you gotta do to survive guys.
-back to bobby/amir: i think it’s important for bobby to meet someone who can’t forgive him for what he’s done, who no matter how much he’s grown, will never be able to see him apart from the trauma and pain he inflicted. it’s more realistic.
-Who Can It Be Now? Song by Men at Work
-Bobby’s dad dies in an alcoholic accident after he verbally assaulted him for being a kid who was left on his own to figure things out is INSANE TIM MINEAR SHIT.
-i don’t think he’s alive anymore bro...
-is bobby can drop to his knees and pray or something?
-welp he dropped to his knees
-poor little bobby
-NOT HIM BLEEDING ALL OVER THE SCRAPBOOK WHAT IN THE WORSE THAN EVAN BUCKLEY TRAUMA IS THIS SHIT WTF THAT’S UNCALLED FOR NO WONDER HE BECAME AN ALCOHOLIC JESUS CHRIST
-stay alive by matt alder
-I hope Amir sticks around. I like him. He keeps things emotionally interesting. I needed a good cry.
-commercial break thoughts: where tf is charlie now? i didn’t realize how much older he was supposed to be
-BIG PROPS to the makeup team
-i like this new girl, hope we see her again. her hair is flawless.
-acting pro peter krause
-“i live my life just trying not to make anything worse”
-michael jamal warner. incredible work tonight my man.
-what in the offbrand huge hulk loke tommy/buck/eddie are those firefighter dudes
-DONT DO IT LITTLE BOBBY YOU ARE A CHILD WHY DID THEY LEAVE HIM ALONE
-I WAS RIGHT THEY TRY TO BURN BOBBY’S HOUSE DOWN WTF I WAS RIGHT I BET ITS THE DAMN CARTEL

🎤 Lando at the post-race press conference in Shanghai:
Tumblr media
(I'm so sorry for how late I'm posting this, uni has been bleeding me dry 😞 I wanted to get this posted before posting about Miami so even if it's belated, at least the post-race press will be here. I will post the video to go with when I can 🫶🏻)
Transcript:
Interviewer: Lando, let's come to you next. Many congratulations, your best result of the year so far. Was this the best the car has felt?
Lando: No, probably not. I mean, big improvement today compared to yesterday. So I think that's why we were probably a bit surprised. I'm surprised to be sitting here today, but it's a nice surprise of course. Difficult to say, you know, we've been struggling a little bit. I'm sure everyone does, with certain things throughout the whole season, which have always been limiting us. It probably felt similar-ish to Australia, Australia, I felt comfortable and the car felt pretty good as well.
So just much better today, things came alive today, the conditions cooled down, the wind calmed down and both of these things, I think, played into our hands a little bit more. So, you know, that's why yesterday, if you asked me, what do we expect for today, It definitely was nowhere near top three, or even maybe top five, you know. So a pleasant surprise. And yeah, the car felt much better. But obviously, not quick enough to match the Red Bulls.
Interviewer: You say "pleasant surprise", Lando. Coming into the weekend, you weren't confident. What changed?
Lando: Nothing. I don't know. What did change? We were just quicker than we thought. That's the limitations, the places we expected to struggle, probably a lot more, we didn't struggle as much in. So these longer corners, like Turn 1, have always been a big weakness for us. And part of Turn 1 was probably better than we're expecting. And like the second part was probably as we were expecting. So it's just we're still learning about the car, it's as simple as that.
This track is very different. The tarmac is quite odd. Maybe that played into our hands a bit more than we were thinking, maybe with the old tarmac, we would have struggled a bit more. So just little things, you know. We're not making it up. We're giving our honest opinion on where we want to be. I think if we were to go into a weekend, and we knew we're going to be strong, we've said it. So more often than not, we don't feel that optimistic, because all year we’ve been behind Red Bull, all year we've been behind Ferrari, there's no reason for us to suddenly think we should be ahead.
But yeah, nothing really pointed to us having an amazing race today, especially the Sprint race yesterday, which was our best kind of version of events of what can go down. But things just went to plan and kind of went very smoothly from that point onwards. You know, I didn't make a mistake in Turn 1 and go off. It's a good start. And got past the Aston and then you can just control the race. And that was very different to yesterday.
Interviewer: Couple of moments I wanted to ask you about. First, what were you thinking in the middle of the race when the VSC came out just after you passed the pit lane entry?
Lando: I knew it. Yeah, there was a few f-words and s-words and so on. I knew it because it was obvious it was going to be a VSC. But it just didn't come out. So I was saying to myself, like, ‘I bet it's going to come out as soon as I go around the last corner’, and it literally did. So even my engineer said it. I said it to him. Luckily, it stayed out a long time and then it obviously went to Safety Car.
It was good, I think our strategy worked out well. I felt confident in the first stint, so I could go a very long time. If the VSC went out before I got around to the pit lane I would have been a lot more annoyed than I am right now. But yeah, things obviously went our way for sure. Because it made the Red Bulls have to stop again. And that obviously put me out ahead of Checo with the Ferrari in between us. And that probably saved me a little bit.
Interviewer: Talk us through the battle with Checo in those last 17 laps. Were you surprised he didn't get closer?
Lando: Hard to say. I think it's a track where when you're in control and you can manage things, it can really be in your favour. And I think that's where the race was so different for us yesterday, you know. I was behind the whole pack. You overheat your tyres, you just struggle. There’s not a lot you can do. And today I could control things on my own. I could break away from Charles very quickly. And then Charles was holding up Checo a lot. And Checo probably had to use a lot of his tyres to try and get past him. So yeah, it depends how you think of it. I probably maybe expected a bit more of a battle but then when I know how much he pushed in the beginning to pass the Ferrari, itt allowed me to be a bit more comfortable, which was a nice thing.
Journalist Questions:
Q1 (Jérôme Bourret - L'Equipe) To all of you, may I ask who you your general opinion about the race returning in China? What about the track? What about the atmosphere? And what about the new Sprint format? Positive any negative? What is your general opinion?
Lando: Not a lot more to add [than Maxis answer]. Probably a better layout than last year for sure. The track… it was my first time finishing a race here, so it feels good. But I agree with Max. To be honest, I'd always prefer the old, original race format. This is what I've grown up watching, it's what I've always liked the most. I do like just going in and having the pressure straightaway.
So the fact of having one practice straight into qualifying I do like it. I think it gives people less chance to just get the car perfect and I think that's when you just start to see team, team, team, team rather than a mix. So I do think it works from that perspective. But the main point is just the toll it has on mechanics and engineers. I don't think it's too bad for us as drivers, honestly. I don't think we can be the ones to complain at all. It’s the hundreds of mechanics and engineers that we have here that have to travel so much. It's not healthy for them, it is not sustainable.
So yeah, the problem is not with us. So, it's not something you should be asking us. It’s something that people should look out more for the rest of the team. And I think that's a limiting factor, not the fact of can we go in the car every day, because I think we can but not doing too much for them I think is the priority.
Q1: What about the fans, Lando? Were there many 'Lando Norris' banners in the grandstand?
Lando: There were a couple.
Max: Lots of a girls. Load of girls were really supporting Lando, you know. "Lando! Lando!"
Lando: I’m not surprised. I didn't notice that, to be honest with you, so you’ve got a good eye, Max. I was looking at the track! The fans are always good here. They're passionate. There was a lot of them obviously. Like, the support Zhou gets here is beautiful to see at the same time. So yeah, hopefully after this year I've got a few more and it’s only my second time here, so again next year maybe even more.

hi love! How are you! I hope you're ok!
I have a small request for headcanons about the beloved bonten men helping reader deal with cramps!
A/N: Hello my beloved ପ૮๑ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ๑ აଓ. Tbh, I am exhausted from work again (╥﹏╥). I really need a vacation ... but I'm okay because you are such a sweetie pie and I love hearing from you ♡. This is such a cute idea and I uh ... kinda probably went overboard with silliness lol. I hope you still love me after this Σ(O_O).
Warnings: Talking about menstrual cycle (not in depth), cramps, cursing, crack humor, talk about killing Mother Nature lol, and Ran being horny lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fortunately he can base his experience with his little sister, Emma. So he somewhat knows the basics of what to do. He’ll not have you do anything and make sure you are comfortable.
He’ll task Koko to call your workplace to excuse you for a week to recover. And since Mikey always has him do it, he marks it on his calendar to make calls ahead of time.
He makes Sanzu run out to buy you some medicine, your favorite chocolates and snacks.
“How are you feeling?” “Shitty and bloated.” “What do you want me to do?” “Cuddle me.”
Slides right into bed with you, carefully spooning you and will rub your tummy if you ask.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This man does not have the slightest clue about the menstrual cycle. Even though he has a sister, Sanzu never paid attention and possibly left the Akashi household before Senju hit puberty.
He legit thought someone had brought you harm because you’re groaning in bed and he was getting his guns ready to kill whoever did this to you.
“Babe, you can’t kill Mother Nature.” “Who’s Mother Nature?” “…Are you fuckin’ for real right now?” Poor Sanzu had to deal with your wrath and you crying because everything hurts and your bf is an idiot.
Of course, the next time you have cramps, he learned from the previous month what he needs to do. Not pissing you off.
He buys you ice cream, chocolates, a heating pad and jokes about what he should offer you for a “sacrifice”. Let's just say things are thrown at him.

This Angel boy only learned about the menstrual cycle through school. He knows this happens once a month and that it varies from 5 to 7 days.
His heart nearly breaks when he sees you in a fetal position and crying in pain. He didn’t know this cramps came with it.
“Baby, what-what should I do?” “Can you give me a heating pad and medicine?” “Of course! I’ll be right back!”
Boy, he drove to the store like he is a race car driver. He rushed to the pharmacy area and pleaded with them to help him. The pharmacist was nice to point out what medication and supplements would help. They also offer advice to maybe do some light yoga to help reduce the pain.
Once he’s back, he gives you some meds and tells you about doing light yoga and he’ll happily do it with you. Fortunately the light yoga does help, so this is what you two will do together whenever you have cramps.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is the calmest of all the executives when it comes to cramps. He has a little sister and of course, dated a few women, so he is experienced on how to deal with it.
Notices immediately when you scrunch your face, curling in bed, and trying not to make it obvious you’re in pain
“Drink this and take this.” “What’s this?” “Ginger tea with honey. This will help with relieving your cramps. I’m turning on the heating pad. Make sure to use this body pillow to keep you comfortable.”
To help with your bloating, he would make some healthy snacks and make sure you are drinking plenty of water.
He stays close to you in case you need something or need help getting up to go to the bathroom. He is at your beck and call.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He has plenty of girlfriends and ahem fwbs before to know each woman is different on how they deal with cramps.
However, he notices one thing they mostly have in common is… they are usually horny when they’re on their periods.
“What are you doing?” “Aren’t you in the mood?” “No, I’m fuckin hurting over here.” “You know what would help? Sex.” You smash a pillow on his face and tell him to get the fuck out.
Obviously now he knows you are not one to do the dirty deed while cramping. Next best thing is buying you chocolates, ice cream, and if he has your consent and you’re not in a bad mood… cuddle massage.
He will massage your shoulders, your back, and rub your tummy. You have to remind him a few times to keep the massage rated G.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unfortunately, this cutie doesn’t have the slightest clue about cramps. Obviously he knows that women go through a menstrual cycle once a month but that’s the only extent of it.
The first time when he saw you in pain, this poor baby panicked and freaked the fuck out.
“WAIT, DON'T MOVE! I'LL CALL 911!” “Wait, Rin don’t-“ “HELLO?! SEND HELP! MY GIRLFRIEND IS IN PAIN AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO! IS THERE A PERIOD DOCTOR?!!”
You and the 911 dispatcher couldn’t stifle your laughter. Rin couldn’t understand what’s so funny, you had to take the phone away from him and tell the dispatcher that you will handle him.
After explaining what he needs to do to help, you couldn’t help but to call Ran and tell him what happened. You best believe Ran will tease the hell out of his brother.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This man is prepared like he’s going to war. He knows the date of your next menstrual cycle. He will even remind you that it’s coming.
He has all kinds of sanitary pads, essential oils, heating pad, and the most comfortable clothes for you to relax in.
The god of massages, his hands have some kind of healing powers. Prepares your bed, puts some heating pad on your tummy and massages your hands, legs, and feet.
“How’s the pressure, sweetheart?” “Really good.” “Anywhere else you need me to target?” “No, you’re getting them all.” “Good, after your massage, I’ll bring you something yummy to drink.”
His drinks are out of this world, it helps you with your cramps and bloating. Like what in god’s name is this? I need it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is aware some women have cramps and some don’t. In his dating history, the women he dated varied between having little to no cramps (lucky…).
He wakes up to hear you whimpering and clenching your stomach, it takes him a few minutes to realize you are having cramps.
“Baby, do you need some tea or water?” “Not right now.” “Do you want some snacks?” “Maybe later.” “Do you want to go on a walk?” “I’m kinda in pain right now.” “Do you-“ “… Kanji, are you reading off a list?” Turning around and finding him on his phone and staring at you like a deer in headlights. “… maybe.”
You have him grab your heating pad from the drawer and want him to hold you. He carefully spoons you, making sure he’s not irritating you.
After the cuddle sesh, Mochi goes ahead to make you some tea and bring you several snacks in bed. He kisses your forehead and tells you he is at your service.

I just read some things on french Twitter I need to rant about it
People are so quick to throw Charles away saying he’s been dominated by Carlos for a few races and Ferrari need to make Carlos their first driver and Charles second, but guys??? How is that domination when their times in quali are so close?? And do you remember the last few laps in Monza?? I’m not seeing one pilot dominating the other, I think their performances have been pretty close on the last two GPs especially in quali.
Honestly I’m not an expert and I’m learning about f1 but the Ferrari strategy in Singapore seems logical for me with the position, and without the first safety car they would probably have been 1-2, but they did sacrifice Leclerc to protect Sainz’s positon, that’s both obvious and logical and I hope it would have been the same if the positions had been different. I personally think pitting under the VSC like the Mercs did would have been a good idea but that’s not even the question here. Leclerc played the team game, he never had any hope of victory because he knew with the quali result that the strategy would be to protect Sainz to have a Ferrari on the first step of the podium.
And Sainz did drive incredibly well with an amazing personal strategy to keep Lando and the Mercs behind, nothing we can say about Leclerc’s case will change or minimise that, it’s not the point. It just makes me crazy to see supposed-tifosi throwing Leclerc away so easily when they chanted his name not so long ago. I saw some comments saying that Charles doesn’t have the mentality of a world champion because he played the team game and protected the position of his teammate (at the beginning at least, he wasn’t in a position to do so after the safety car) but people forget that it’s a team sport and that neither of them are fighting for the title this year.
One thing I don’t understand is that two weeks ago people were quasi insulting Charles for putting a fight against Carlos in the last laps because they said it was dangerous for the team and he shouldn’t have taken this risk, and now that he doesn’t put a fight with his teammate but tries to protect his position and suddenly he’s too weak to have any hopes to be world champion and should have been selfish and chased the victory.
Nothing makes sense. Some things could have been better in Singapore but it was an amazing and well-deserved victory for Carlos, however it shouldn’t minimise the work Charles put into it too.

george russell is interviewed after fp2, las vegas, united states - november 17, 2023 (transcription below the cut)
Interviewer: "Well, George, it's been the most anticipated race for some time. Finally hit the track. What's it been like to actually be racing around-well, not racing yet-but driving around Las Vegas?" George: "It was good to finally get going after [laughs] quite a long day. But it was really great to get out there. Obviously a very fast circuit; highest top speeds of the year, probably, and obviously racing at night is pretty spectacular, but I think it's gonna be an interesting race weekend. A session sort of dominated by getting the tires working and by graining and I think that's gonna go into hinder everybody come Sunday." Interviewer: "Okay, so how long did you take to actually get your eye in before you actually worked on the tire stuff? Was it quite quick to master it?" George: "Well, the thing is the track's evolving every single lap, so the first laps you did you're sort of driving around on ice, it feels. No grip. You can visibly see the dirt and the dust. So every lap you do you're learning, you're going faster, the track's going faster, your braking points are changing. It's tricky, when you're going 230 miles an hour into both braking zones, picking your braking point with very little downforce on the car. But it was good fun out there, but ultimately all down to pace. Difficult to get a true representation because some people did two sets of new softs. We only did one set, but I think it's gonna be dominated by race pace." Interviewer: "And that will be dominated by getting the tires into their happy place." George: "Yeah. As we know, the tires at the best of times are tricky to get into their happy place, but this is a weekend that we've never experienced with the graining. We saw a bit of it last year, due to the nature of the tire, but with these cold temperatures I think if you can keep the tires working it should be an easy ones top, but if you find yourself graining those tires you'll be making two, three, four stops, so we need to make sure we're not one of those." Interviewer: "Okay. Thanks very much. Did you have a nap while we were waiting for FP2?" George: "I actually had a nap before coming to the circuit, so I think I've had four naps today. I don't know what time it is, but definitely looking forward to getting some sleep." Interviewer: "See you tomorrow. Thank you."

After an epic race (yes it was epic, and not just because Red Bull dominated, but because of the racing you RBR haters), here’s my analysis of it (I can’t believe I woke up at 7 and focused but it’s what you do for the thing you love/want to achieve)
Let’s start with the homeboy who the word impressive doesn’t even begin to describe or explain how amazing he raced today, starting p10, loosing position at the standing start, regaining and overtaking in the S’s of Suzuka, which by the way everyone was beyond impressed by, and just his overall race today showed how much he grew, especially after Pierre left AT. He’s taking on that leader role, despite being the younger driver, but what he’s doing so far this season is something that he should be proud of, and should not be turned a blind eye to (I’m looking at you Helmut Marko).
Continuing with RB, Daniel actually had a decent weekend, till that crash of course, but what was he to do, narrowest part of track, and he was looking at his mirrors, Alex is the one who came out of nowhere in Daniel’s blind spot, and they both couldn’t do anything.
There is something wrong about Logan’s car/chassis. Simple and easy, and Williams are, as we say in Egyptian Arabic, just being/acting stupid. He did well, considering his confidence that is, most probably, shaken. But that car DOES NOT TURN. Its not just a touch of understeer, its Logan turning the steering wheel almost all the way, and the car not moving as he wants. Justice for my boy if we’re being honest (Since Australia, I’m a Logan defender till the day I die, especially because this is not the Williams or James that was “we’ll take care of you and trust you” its the “Valtteri it’s James” and I’m here for it)
There is something wrong with that Mercedes power-unit, after 4 races, I can kind of actually see it very clearly. These cars don’t have the straight line speed or sometimes the speed in general to be competitive, and the only reason one of the cars with the pu was on a podium was because Max DNFed
McLaren were going good, until they royally fucked up Lando’s strategy. Like he was going good, tyres were good and he was managing them well in order to pit with the front of the pact, but then they pit him with Charles, to “undercut George” which failed and made him loose positions, yeah they pulled a Ferrari to be honest, and what sucks is that this is a McLaren-friendly track. Oscar did all he could, but in all honesty, at the end of this race, it was experience over all else, which allowed the race to end in Fernando, George, Oscar. And no, I’m not saying Oscar had a bad race, quiet the opposite, but Fernando defended him well, and George just used his more experience to make a move on Oscar when the time was right, and it worked.
Ferrari. Ferrari oh Ferrari, what the Fuck have you done? Granted, Carlos had a good race, but not a podium finish, he wasn’t that impressive, it was just Ferrari pulling a Ferrari, fucking up Charles’ strategy and race by telling him “we’re not racing Carlos” but then telling Carlos to race?! This is the real reason why I didn’t want Charles to renew with Ferrari, because they never fucking learn. And honestly as I said it earlier, Jules would be incredibly proud of Charles’ drive today, because in all honesty, everyone is, even Max and Checo who are now the biggest Charles defenders in the cooldown room and I’m gere for it.
The rest of the grid honestly didn’t have that much , Mercedes not doing well on strategy, it was just driver talent especially at the end of the race, Aston were good, with Fernando defending and Lance’s overtakes, despite the car not being that good (again discussed in the merc pu), Alpine are on a slow and steady climb, though still the slowest, at least they’re able to reach Q2s with Esteban, who is surprisingly performing better than Pierre, Haas didn’t do great, overtakes and overall performance good, but no points and Valtteri is showing that despite leaving Mercedes even after 3 years, he’s got it, despite the car being bad.
Last, but certainly and definitely not least, and in all honesty, the best team on that damn grid. Pole an P2 converted to a picture perfect 1-2 in the race, pulling 4 fastest pitstops (3 2.1 and a 2.0 with Max’s second pitstop), fastest lap, working well on strategy in order to maintain positions despite the tyre deg not being the best, Max’s performance of that car, reputation era for sure, but a silent killer type, Checo’s confidence and consistency in that car is something that has to be studied. Oh my god that whole team is just everything all others wish to be and more. They should be proud, like we are, and especially after Australia, this 1-2 has got to feel extra good, with everyone doubting and saying they are over, because they aren’t, and a team that is able to come back after years of not being the best, to utter dominance can definitely come back from a bad weekend
It's always such a treat to read your post-race analysis! Please keep them coming this season. ❤️
As always I don't have much to add.
I actually get the team order from Ferrari (for once). Carlos was on newer tyres and Charles could have been under serious threat from Lando had he spent time trying to fight Carlos. Besides, we all know there will never be a team order frol Ferrari where Carlos is asked to defend Charles, and even if there was, Carlos wouldn’t have listened. So I don't actually have an issue with the team order today, which is a weird feeling.
Red Bull are impressive as hell, and they absolutely should be proud of themselves.
I'm excited for China in two weeks now!

With every race weekend, I'm seeing 'xavi should get fired' posts increasingly. So what exactly is xavi's job entailing? I feel like people just jump on the bandwagon and hate him when idk maybe his job doesn't cover the department for which they hate him?
it's a few different things this is an old summary from Merc:
The job of the Race Engineer is to act as the link between the team and the driver. They are the single point of contact for the driver whenever he is in the car - he's like a second set of eyes and ears for the driver and will inform him about the situation on track. What lap times are the others doing? Is there any traffic coming up? Are there hazards on the track?
The Race Engineer is also the main point of contact for all of the factory to learn about the driver feedback from the car, and do everything in their power to deliver maximum performance to his driver and to ensure a smoothly executed, successful race weekend.
The Performance Engineer works very closely with the Race Engineer - prior to, during and after the race weekend. Where the Race Engineer takes responsibility of managing front of house - making sure that the car and programme are properly managed - the Performance Engineer is a little more in the bowels of the car, pouring over telemetry and simulations, offering the driver advice on how to squeeze the last milliseconds from the car.
He will also look at particular performance subsystems such as the differential (the amount of torque transfer between the rear wheels) or the brake balance. Based on the car data he will give feedback to the Race Engineer who will inform the driver of a setting that promises to be faster, for example by changing the brake balance for a specific corner.
With how and what Charles says about Xavi I think he also does some of the things that are performance engineer tasks in this example.
Xavi makes mistakes, but he is also definitely getting blamed for things that are not his fault. He's become super easy to target.
I've seen people call Xavi Charles strategist but he does not decide the tyres Charles gets put on nor when to stop. That's not his job. I am sure he would listen to Charles tyre suggestions a bit more if he got to.
And I think that's also why Charles has been kinda speaking out for Xavi. Because he is getting blamed for a lot of things that aren't actually on him. And that also makes me think that he would actually probably listen to Charles more because Charles still fully trusts him.
There is a whole team behind every single in race decision it's not the race engineer that makes most of the in race decisions he just relays the info to the driver and from the driver to the team. The team not listening isn't on the race engineer.
