hello again!! as someone who comes from the 2020 fandom resurgence I am. SO SORRY. that happened a lot unfortunately. yeah we did NOT know how to act early on (ToT). I had the vibe it was a lot of people's first online fandoms.

the ship with two guys in it being dubbed butter pecan because of something something 'a lot of nuts' is again, so, so funny. Thank you for enlightening me on this, I know it's probably wild to be asked about this stuff like a decade after. This is like honestly a bit of a mystery in the fandom so it's insane finding out the source!! A real miracle the person who coined it so long ago is still active on tumblr

And speaking, it is and was INSANELY hard to dig for any 'fandom history' or even just any sort of Old post on here and I hate it.

another little question if that's okay- I'd assume that seeing the change in reception to freemance and freehoun kinda swapping around must've been bizarre as an older fan considering this was a fandom for a fps game in the early 2000's-early 2010's, in my head the vibes were kinda reversed where freemance was the big ship and freehoun was less well received by most

i think it's super funny because both half-life: alyx and hlvrai came out within weeks of each other so you had this sort of resurgence on here of old fans returning/posting and getting excited for alyx and then a huge wave of people getting into hl in general because of the audience that hlvrai introduced. personally, i still haven't watched hlvrai because it doesn't really seem like my thing, but i'm still glad that there were so many people who enjoyed it to the point where they actually ended up playing and loving the games too!!

freemance definitely was the big ship on tumblr back in the day so yes it was very interesting to see that reversal!!!! honestly i don't think i was on tumblr too much during that time where hlvrai/freehoun really took off, and so the drama surrounding ship wars or whatever was mentioned to me secondhand. 2020 was just like the worst year of my life for personal reasons, as i'm sure for a lot of people, and i can't remember really any of it tbh LOL but you've got nothing to apologize for! i think you're definitely right, it seemed like a first fandom for many people, and that generally skewed younger. i think (hope) it's a better now at least!

tumblr's tagging/tracking/search is HORRIBLE i completly understand. i still think tumblr is the best place for fandom centralized stuff (pictures, art, gifs, etc) and until there's a new platform that does it better, i'll probably still be here, if super sporadically!

"He goes. You stay."

The choice offered leaves you breathless. The tone in his voice shifts, commanding complete control over you. It grips your heart and keeps a tight hold on it. Despite knowing your situation, he makes it seem like you have options to consider.

But you're the hero of this game, aren't you? He already knows your answer.

Your gaze drops to your other half. The little cat who is clinging onto your leg for his dear life. His body shakes, and trembles as he looks up at you with pleading eyes.

"Please..." Grim whimpers. "You don't hafta do it!"

As far as you're aware, Idia hasn't put him through any dangerous tests. Grim was kept to simple ones and allowed rest in between. He was even fed premium tuna. But tests were still tests and the small feline could only be put through so much. Especially when he was kept in a room with little to no access to the outside world. All he had were the employees bringing him food or taking him to another room.

Even if he could sleep and eat all the tuna he wants, what would it mean if he was trapped here?

You lift your gaze to meet with darkened yellow eyes. You try to find something, a hint of emotion in them, but there is none.

"And he'll be free?"

"As long as he doesn't lash out again." Idia answers before sighing. "Look, I don't have all day. I've got an event I need to get to, so an answer now would be nice."

You swallow and clench your fists. You keep your eyes on him, firm and steady despite the shattering of your heart.

"What happened to you...?"

The question catches him off guard. He flinches, eyes flicker elsewhere and he returns to normal, if only for a second. But he recovers so quickly it's like you didn't even lay a finger on his HP bar.

"It's just the family business."

You keep your lips in a thin line, careful not to expose your feelings. You bend down to pick up Grim. Prying his claws from your flesh stings, but the pain in your chest feels worse. You hold him against your chest, patting his back as you give him some form of comfort.

"Ace and Deuce will take care of you," you whisper.

"What?! No way! You're the only hench human I need!" Grim cries. His paws reach out to you, claws digging into your shirt and ripping the seams. "Don't stay here with this weirdo! I-I promise I'll study more! And-And not drool on ya when I sleep!" Tears prick at his eyes, desperation clear as day. "You gotta leave with me!"

You let out a weak laugh, one that pains you.

"It won't be forever." You glance at Idia. "Will it?"

"Course not." He answers. "But it will if you take your sweet time."

"I'll do it."

Idia flashes you a wide grin. That's all he needed to hear.

Checkmate.

He snaps his fingers and guards approach you. They apprehend the cat stuck to you. Grim claws at them. He barely leaves a mark on their gear. Instinctively, he takes in a breath to use his signature fire magic on them. But nothing but air comes out. All he can do is pathetically call out your name with the promise of rescuing you.

You shut your eyes and force yourself to stay put. It takes everything in you not to turn around and chase after his voice as it disappears down the hall.

Once silence overtakes you, your eyes open. You meet with Idia, who is now standing before you. His looming height isn't something you're used to. He's always been hunched over, trying to hide from the world. Braving against it isn't what he does. Perhaps it's because he isn't. This is his home after all.

"I kinda wish you hadn't agreed," he mutters. "We finally get to have a cute cat here and now he's gone."

"Then why offer me the exchange?" You prod. "You need to keep an eye on him for testing, don't you?"

"We've found everything we could on him. Any more tests would just produce the same results. He's not going to level up from this." A pause as he meets your gaze for a brief moment. "But we don't know a thing about you. You're an abnormality here and not in the 'isekai protagonist' kinda way. Guess it does count although instead of getting an upgrade you were nerfed."

"What do you mean?"

The question escapes you, but a part of you already knows what he's getting at. It's obvious with the way you pull a hand to your chest and the sharp breath you take. Something swirls in the pit of your stomach, something you know shouldn't.

"A magicless human is already a major downgrade, but one able to accumulate blot is even worse. It's like whoever sent you here put you on nightmare difficulty and capped you at level one."

Hearing it aloud sounds worse than you imagined and confirms your fears. It makes you recall the moment you realized your condition.

A fight amongst the first years broke out. Magic was cast for far too long. Someone like yourself was forced to keep to the sidelines. And that's when you began to feel...disgusting, for a lack of better words.

While others were preoccupied, something began to stab at your chest. Your body felt heavy, and there was a thick feeling in your throat. Coughing and gagging, you had to escape the scene. While you feared seeing red in your hand, instead you saw black.

"I'm guessing you're already aware of it, aren't you?" Idia asks yet you don't dare confirm it. "Maybe it's due to surviving multiple Overblots, but that doesn't make sense. You shouldn't be affected by the excess magic being produced. It could be your body adjusting to this world, but even those without magic don't have a problem here. Another thought would be your connection with Grim."

The last hypothesis makes your heart stop. You didn't want to be the reason for his imprisonment here, not again. Just when he was granted freedom you would be the one to tie him back down.

"For now, we can study you and see when and how this happens. You may have been isekai'd but you don't really seem to be the protagonist of this world."

You remain silent. And when you finally lift your gaze, you see a different person. This isn't the scared gamer who you would spend your days with. The one who you could make obscure references with and he'd get it. Your dear friend who you could escape reality with.

All you can see is the acting director of STYX, Idia Shroud.

Hey what are your avatar otps besides azulaang?

oh umm… I wouldn’t call them OTPs since that is exclusively Azulaang, but my bi Azula headcanon lives in a variety of ships. Azutara, Azuki, Maizula… not Tyzula tbh because that feels like… imbalanced? and not Tophzula because they are menace-besties but not romantic, but with any of the other girls I think it could be great. Azutara has the enemies to lovers from Azulaang but with more spice and less forgiveness, they‘d tear eachother apart first but that makes it even sweeter if they eventually fall in love. Azuki is kind of different because Suki is more rational and holds less of an emotional grudge, it‘d be difficult for Azula to earn her trust but she would not be openly hostile to her unless necessary. I imagine this one could only happen if Azula is already in the middle or post redemption though, because Suki would not put up with any EtL shit. I guess that is exactly why it intrigues me too, I feel Suki would be more willing to give Azula a chance, more than Katara for example, but at the same time it would be impossibly hard to win her trust and I‘d like to see if Zula can manage it. Lastly Maizula, and I prefer this one over Tyzula because I feel Mai is more capable of holding her own against Azula in a relationship. It’s a complicated version of childhood friends to lovers and I‘m kind of here for it. No idea how it would work though lol.

Aside from Azula ships, I think Zutara is pretty cool and works well alongside Azulaang. Kataang is kinda cool in theory too, but I don’t like shipping Aang with anyone except Azula, it feels wrong 🤷‍♂️ The only other Aang ship I can imagine liking is Zukaang, but I don’t talk about it much.

Oh and I have to give a shoutout to Sokkla, I don’t particularly vibe with it but they’re the sister ship to Azulaang and I do see the potential of the two genius strategists, so if Aang didn’t exist I would definitely ship Sokkla instead. Nothing but love to the comrades over there. 🫶🏼

edit: totally forgot this but I actually also love Tylaang aka Ty-Lee and Aang, it just has absolutely no fandom so it’s hard to get the ball rolling. I just feel they would be such a wholesome bubbly cute ship, and I dig the Ty-Lee airbender ancestry theory so she‘d love to learn all about airbender customs and they‘d have so much fun and probably a huge family 😅 anyway I think party of why I ship this is just because I think these two deserve the world and it represents my wish for them to be totally carefree and happy. you can also add Azula and make this a throuple, I think that would work because you have Tyzula as the polar opposites and Aang in the middle to bridge the gap.

speaking of throuples I enjoy the idea of… Azutaraang? (Azula/Katara/Aang) but it is very difficult to make work. The only way I can see it is if Azula and Katara fall in love first because nothing good could come of them fighting over Aang. or maybe I could see like a stranded on a deserted island AU where the three of them have to work together and learn to rely on eachother… idk, difficult but not impossible.

Oh and I love Zuki too (Zuko x Zuki) …damn I guess I do have quite a few non-Azulaang ships. anyway this is essentially a bodyguard AU and it’s actually my favorite Zuko ship (sorry Zutara) not much to say about it cuz I’ve barely engaged with it, but I love the idea and think they would just work really well together. I also can see this as a throuple with Sokka again. I don’t really vibe with Zukka on their own but if you add Suki then I love it, because Suki deserves two good boys and it’s more fun for everyone involved if those two good boys are in love with eachother too.

final edit hopefully: Sokka Azula Aang is good too, for the same reasons listed for Zuko Suki Sokka, I swear that’s it now. goodbye lol.

As much as I love Fizz, his character has been inconsistent. And until recently, hadn't thought about the negative aspects of his relationship with Asmodeus. I play devil's advocate with myself all the time and it's torture so sorry if this ramble goes on for too long; I'll do three main points (though it's stuff other people already point out so feel free not to answer if this is repetitive)

-At first it seems like their communication is actually pretty good, but in any relationship, ofc someone is gonna just wanna keep some stuff private. In Fizz's case, he has issues with perfectionism and rejection sensitivity (probably)- that apparently leads him to isolate an be a work-a-holic. While I appreciate Ozzie's way of voicing his concerns and comforting Fizz, it does suck knowing he was either forced to male the Fizz bots (or was making them before he met Fizz). Time line is a bit weird in my head but I assume Ozzie actually met Fizz maybe a couple years after Fizz started working for Mam? Unsure. Regardless, I understand Ozzie's protective nature, but it's overbearing and not the way you should be treating an adult.

-Fizz's insecurity and vulnerability is understandable. Maybe the confidence is a facade, but after ten years? I understand he may feel like a fraud or whatever but I do wish he had more confidence rather than constantly being Infantilized. There are other ways to show off Fizzarolli's more playful/childish side rather than just making him helpless. I mean hey, we see that childish nature come up with RoboFizz, except that version is the more malicious aspect. Just like with Millie, we could see fascination with "childish" things like amusement parks or whatever.

-His relationship with Blitzø. Tbh I think they could be platonic, romantic, or even a QPR (the hype is real), but goddamn it's just another issue of the narrative providing us with angst, which would be great if it were handled a bit more maturely. Personally, I think the shots of "who tops" and "could we make out" are kinda funny? But they're also unnecessary, and I can totally get why people wouldn't dig those jokes.

Looking into the dynamic more just makes me realize Fizz x Ozzie isn't "Stolitz but healthy," it's just another relationship with it's own problems and pitfalls (which is great for nuance) and there's still the unexplored (and unacknowledged) issue of the nuance of power dynamics in relationships

I may just be hopeful, but I really, really hope that the series explores more of the mature stuff as they get into the rest of season two, and begin season 3.

Sorry for this wall of text, holy cow

Everyone plays devils advocate at first don’t worry, its ok to not want to explore possible uncomfortable aspects of things we like and enjoy. For this ship it was hard for me too. But like you said, it’s about complex nuances and possible issues rather than just jumping to ‘toxic’ but the biggest thing for me? It was “I don’t like designing sex toys with your likeness for him-pretty sure you feel the same” Cmon Oz. You still did that. You still designed and built and shipped out these things, knowing Fizz is possibly uncomfortable, how did Mammon force you? Why are they conscious btw Oz…And if it is later written canonically that mammon forced him to do it, that’s a bit lazy. Every character makes mistakes after all.

Fizz hasn’t been too inconsistent up until this latest episode imo. Maybe we just didn’t know his full story. His cute side was hinted at back in Ozzies with that nuzzling. He was most definitely defanged in S2E7 though.

Miscommunication Issues…power dynamics..

“Well today I learned I hate going outside!”

“You won’t have to again.”

Look at that reaction…that’s not what he wanted to hear. :( that smile was put on. And now that Fizz quit his job, he really doesn’t have to go outside again except for Ozzies nightclub. I don’t know what’s next for him other than becoming Ozzies temporary spouse. The mortality/immortality dilemma is like the biggest elephant in the room right now for these two.

Fizz says that Oz is “someone who understands me”and many times he does, many times they communicate through eye contact alone, but a lot of times especially recently…he actually doesn’t understand Fizz. I love Asmodeus don’t get me wrong but let’s put the spotlight on him for a little bit. Nothing bad about examining some things.

And you’re completely right I mean…he calls him babe, baby, froggy, cutest little thing…and it feels like Fizz has to be very cute and submissive all the time saying ‘pwease’ for Oz to listen to him. This is likely Ozzies first real relationship and it being with someone so low on the hierarchy is making it a bit of a rough challenge for him.

Ozzies smiles are so cute they hurt 😔 Kronk energy sometimes with this guy.

There is some choices made to not communicate about stuff. Not because Ozzie is abusive, he is actually not, but because there are things they don’t talk about when they really should. And secrets between them. Even if they’re badly kept.

wice now it seemed like Ozzie side stepped Fizz’s worry and anxiety over the status of their relationship being exposed. And he says “I don’t care both times” it’s always “I” and this implies he used to care yknow? We’re just kinda lucky Fizz turned out to be ok with both of these decisions. Imagine if the crowd got angry at Fizz instead and accused him of being a gold digger (which was written in the magazine from Oops)

Fizz and Blitzos relationship is something Ozzie definitely doesn’t get. And to be fair it is the most complicated one in the show. Blitzø isn’t just ‘that guy fizz hates’ and he knows it. His former bestie lifelong enemy then recent hero sortve rekindled friend blitz is a mystery.

Idk if it (blitzfizz history, power dynamics of class) will be explored without Ozzie and Stolas’ feelings being shoved in there some way. Or striker saying stuff then just getting punched out of the way for asking too many questions. I wish they could have a break from them. And like you said, comparing relationships never really works cause everyone is different. I’m not sure where they’re going with this but I can’t help but hope the pairings don’t stay rigidly stagnant. Right now they feel forced and set in stone.

How am I supposed to sleep tonight? I’m just so fucking happy for Lando 😭😭😭

Damn this time it was way harder to decide but here are my favorite drivers two months (holy shit, it’s been two months already?) into liking f1:

1. Alex Albon

Albono is and will (hopefully) always be my number one (not counting Seb of course lol). And he did so well this weekend! The practices were perfect and today gaining P8 back was so great!! I admit, it again was hard for me to focus on him because of what was going on at the front, but it wasn’t as hard as it was last week lol

2. Charles Leclerc

Again, nothing changed here but I’m not going to complain about that, but the race was not optimal for Ferrari. It was hard for me to cheer for them because I didn’t want them to overtake Alex lol but I’m really sad about how it turned out for them anyway.

3. Sergio Perez

This one was the hardest decision I have ever made. I wanted to put Lewis on third again, but I think I just realized that I’ve been obsessing over Checo for so long now. Honestly, I have so much to say about him, have had for weeks and I feel like it’s about time that I give him the credit he deserves.

And the race today.. Guys, my heart... Quali yesterday made me so sad and I didn’t even understand that he was out after Q1 at first and why, but then I thought about his performance last week and let myself hope. Today wasn’t as good as last week but he still killed it! I did not cheer for him as he overtook Alex and Charles obviously and I hesitated to cheer when he overtook Carlos but I can’t help to be happy for him xD

Also I somehow started shipping Chestappen. Max not being mad at Checo after last week's inchident in turn 1 right at the start launched something in me and idk, I’m kinda digging it tho lol

Honerable mentions:

Lewis. Obviously, I wanted him on third but my soft spot for Checo took over, but you cannot believe how happy I am for Lewis. As you probably all know by now, I always like to see people on the podium for their home race. This week it was not even possible for all Brits to be on the podium as there are four, but I am so happy that two of them made it 😀

Lando. Obvoiusly! After that quali and race! I couldn’t be happier for Lando. And let me tell you now that he was the third competitor for third in my ranking. I’ve been watching so much Lando content lately and I just love this guy. He is the most relatable driver on the grid and he cares so much about his fans. He’s just the best.

Carlos. Well with Lando content comes Carlando content and I love it. Also I have been developing a little soft spot for Carlos as well. I’ve liked him before but it’s stronger now 😊

Might also have to do with how Ferrari treats him lately. He deserves better and the race today must have been awful for him. This triple overtake with Checo, Alex and Charles must’ve been horrible, and I just hope he doesn’t feel too bad after this disaster of a race.

Max. Well, Chestappen.. But I gotta say, Chestappen is more of a fun thing because cute and all, but I’m still a Lestappen shipper and if I had to choose, I’d have to choose Lestappen because they make more sense. And the way he keeps saying ‘inchident’ 😭😭😭

But same tbh, I can’t even say or read ‘incident’ the right way anymore, I always say ‘inchident’.

Also, I feel like being friends with Max must be really frustrating. Like you want to be mad because he always wins everything, and you don't stand a chance, but you can't be mad because he praises you all the time and says that he had so much fun fighting you. That would drive me crazy.

Also, Max' hugs look so comfortable. I want one. And I want to touch his hair.

Daniel Ricciardo. I don’t know why I never mention him. He’s always been one of my favorites and I just feel like that’s a given and I don’t have to say it because it’s so obvious even if it isn't. Kind of like how it is with Seb.

Logan. This is more about how I noticed him more this week. He did a pretty good job this weekend and I couldn’t help but start to become a little Williams fan. The team seems to be heading in the right direction and I love that for them. Mostly for Alex but also for the rest of the team 😊

Oscar. Same with him. He did so fucking well and I love that for him.

Lance. I’ve become a fan. He is such a sweetheart and I want to give him the world.

Pierre. I feel so bad for him today. He must feel awful, and I just want to hug him 🙁

I sadly didn't have much time to check out post race stuff, because I have an exam tomorrow :(

One thing that was real fun in Tressa romancing Doc, she was able to handwave it away as Not An Attachment in the beginning. It wasn't a Relationship, it was Just Sex bc he's not entirely hard on the eyes and calls her things like beautiful and gorgeous and is v clearly not interested in commitment.

So both of them are happy with this arrangement and they don't talk about defining it or anything, it's Just For Fun and neither one of them realize they're maybe catching feelings. Tressa doesn't even use him as her companion most of the time, she lets him stay on the ship and takes Kira or T7, so there's not any obvious signs of a developing connection. Purely physical relationship, "we can stop at any time"(or can you?) etc etc.

And then, one of the conversations after Hoth, Doc's talking about reading medical journals, there's an opportunity for sex(which Tressa took), but THEN he just very casually drops this

and Tressa just reflexively says Sure and it's not until halfway through eating(she's sideways on the bench with his shoulder digging into her spine) that she realizes this is a very Couple-y Thing to do. The casual intimacy of snacking together is what does her in. xD She has this moment of "oh, shit. does this mean we're a couple?! Do I actually LIKE HIM? Him, DOC, of all people, do I actually like him?!" and it hits her she, uh, can't honestly say no.

Cue an internal mini-crisis bc Jedi aren't supposed to form attachments and REALLY, HIM?!(she can hear that part of her in Kira's voice xD) She doesn't wanna let on that anything's wrong changed, so she keeps up the flirty banter and everything and just wrestles with this privately.

And then she notices the shift in his end of the banter, less sleazy "hit on all the girls" more "hey, you're amazing and gorgeous and so am I don't we make a great team?" and internally goes UHOH but externally says NOTHING bc if things are different for her and things are different for him then this might be about to become a Problem.

And it's kinda scary that the thought doesn't bother her like it should.

AND THEN she gets an I Love You and technically a marriage proposal out of him in the same conversation and listens to her instincts and says yes(even if the part of her that sounds like Kira is questioning her sanity). She can make this work. She can be in love(married!) without getting Too Attached and he's changed and she find the ego a bit endearing tbh and so then this happened last night

(she plans to tease him for a good long while about hiding the droid for WEEKS, how long have you been planning this, handsome?!?!? Awfully confident I'd say yes)

(idk who will care about this post but i think long schpiels on extremely specific Thoughts About Media is a major use case for tumblr so you’re getting it anyway) i think i wouldn’t at all have my feeling of disconnect re the rest of fandom’s* interest in Bondord if he had been a woman. this isnt a bizarre critique of some sort its just a funny thought about me and what i like. twisted inversion of motherhood with a mad scientist character feels like, the concept has More For Me than the same with fatherhood and would create more intrinsic interest in the character

*especially ‘my cohort’ — the contingent who seems to have similar predilections like fic/shipping activity and also much of the portion of the fandom that’s, like, adult women — largely those folks are big Bondrode fans and enjoy Guebon and i’m like, i relate to your habits guys but have very little interest in your man. (for those who haven’t heard me bitch about this before: i dont hate him but i have littlr interest in seeking out art or fic of him or anything and I’m kinda sad that he’s the only adult character who ever got like figures and nendo and stuff.)

hopefully no one takes this personally lol. hell, i don’t care if Bon fans think Belaf is boring! that is in fact vastly preferable to people who are randomly mean about my ships. please feel free to just ignore my favorite characters’ existence instead.

anyway like

if he’d shown up as A Horrible Science Woman and then the movie recast her into Also A Loving (But Still Horrible) Mother i’d probably like this chara much more. it’s not like because Ooh Evil Woman Hot or something. actually i think i still wouldn’t find her hot the way most of the aforementioned Bondord Enjoyers do. i pick up a new ‘character i think is actually hot’ very rarely and then they stay forever. i have very limited slots for that tbh. (also this is just me complaining now and no longer relevant but such characters tend to be pretty unpopular lol and have very little r18 content/fic available and generally this drives me to despair. i drew a picture about the top offenders once.)

it’s more..i think the fucked up inversion of motherhood is more intrinsically interesting to me than with fatherhood. it’s just a personal interest thing. i think that sort of thing is neat. if i ever bother to go watch chainsaw man it’ll be because i know that’s a thing that it gets into and many people like what it does there. also there’s how much i dig mapping parts of this show onto other parts (in fact this is already the context in which i do manage to find him interesting sometimes — the Riko Waz Bondird sliding scale of what lines you’ll cross is the one context in which i have a brain cell to focus on this guy lol.) and in that regard motherhood is part of the premise of the show and all and ways it can be inverted and fucked up is a big deal in my favorite arc even if this isn’t *why* it’s my favorite arc. so i think i’d also enjoy being able to make more parallels with it. even though the general parallel of ‘versions of parenthood’ is still available, i think bad mad scientist fathers are just a less intrinsically Oh Cool concept to me than ‘bad mad scientist mother.’ (Yes I Do Like Prospera Btw)

related: even though I love love love Waz and you guys know this, it also took a while for that to click into place after meeting him. but one time I saw Oriole’s girlWaz tenderly cradling one of the Irukos and i instantly realized that if he had been a woman and the visual of him with the baby and a knife had thus inevitably channeled inverted motherhood and dovetailed with the existing examinations of motherhood in the arc and in abyss as a whole, i would have loved him instantly instead of having to let my thoughts on him percolate.

So, I've heard little about BlueSky besides it was the alternative to Twitter when that was being lit on fire. Is it any good? What's it actually like?

To be fair: Is not bad at all! Is nothing spectacular either, but I feel it's a chill social for now. Right now is not super good interaction-like, unless you are like...A bigass artist/account with a BUNCH of followers and stuff...But that isn't necessarily a bad thing, I guess. Pro: - It's relatively calm (consider it's still in beta, but so far I haven't encountered any drama, toxicity and stuff, besides people talking shit about Elon Musk all the time...It's pretty much just artists that abandoned the twitter ship.) - By what I could hear -don't take my word for gold, coz again, it's only what I've HEARD. I don't have any personal experience with that..- they take seriously the reports they receive. - You see exactly what you follow. - No AI is scraping your data. (At least, this is how the legend goes..) - It's kinda like Twitter, without being Twitter. Is like a beta version of twitter mixed with Tumblr, right now. - There's no Elon at the lead. This is important and good. - They are slowly adding more stuff to it and they already changed/added some new things since when I've joined. (And I'm there since maybe one month, I guess...) - They allow to NSFW artists to do their thing as long they mark their content as mature. - I don't think they plan to get rid of the invitation-to-join situation. - Eventually you receive your own invite-codes to invite whoever you like... - You can hide specific stuff you don't wanna see at all since the very begin. - Some "known faces" are on there already... Contro: - It's still in beta. (Therefore, it lacks of some basic(?) features you would find on any other social.) - So far, there's no support for GIFs, animations and videos. (I assume they will fix this, eventually...LOTS of people is asking for it.) - No DMs option either. (Again, lots of people is asking for it, so...Who knows....) - I think there's no tag system? (Personally, I find kinda difficoult to find the content I seek without it, ngl...If you wanna look for specific stuff, you cannot just write it down in a search bar...You have to dig between a bunch of other posts first. I hope they will implement this as well in future..I tend to follow mutuals and friends mostly -and artists I like- but you know...It's a little hard to find new stuff without tags.) - There's no much post interaction unless you already are a bigass(tm) good artist or a big account with a bunch of followers. (Is not REALLY a problem tbh, as I said before...But you know...It's nice to receive some comment under your pics sometimes. lol) - I don't think they plan to get rid of the invitation-to-join thing right now. It's cool, but it's also a lil bit of a hassle. (I myself could join only because a friend of a friend graciously offered me an invite code...). They give you ONE code every 10/14 days, so if you got a group of friends you wanna invite in, you'll need either friends that gives you codes (You know who you are...Thanks again! :) ), or you'll need a lot of time... Besides that, For what I use it for, I think BS is good enough, for now. And (personal opinion) I don't think that so far, BS is "addicting" like other socials are....Which is a mighty good thing if you ask me. In case somebody is on there already and wanna come to say hi, I'm on there as d-structive. :D

TDI23 Season 2 ep 1 thoughts and theories. Spoilers ahead.

*I did see the earlier leak of the teams and first boot btw*

Chris is bonkers as usual and Chef is pretty much the same so far. I expect that to change if my theories about Lauren are right.

The opening being the exact same as last time bugs me a little bit but I guess they are avoiding spoilers that way so meh.

The team names are pretty lame tbh but whatever.

I liked the challenge for the most part and how everyone got to compete. Axe Hatchet is a total badass and I wouldn't mind seeing her again. 10/10 side character.

I feel bad for Sally, Chris is such a turd.

I'm on the fence about the elimination. More on that down below.

Now onto the contestants:

Team Rat Face

Priya:

She's the only winner of season one which I didn't fully expect but it makes sense given her storyline and her parents are insane. Especially her dad, my god. She's an official team leader and is still holding a grudge against Ripper lol. Her concern over Millie in the challenge was sweet. I hope she goes far again and learns to stand up for herself against her parents.

Millie:

Her sassing Bowie was funny to me but she didn't read Priya's Total Drama guidebook and tried way too hard in the first challenge. It kinda seems like she didn't want to come back or something. I hope she reads the guide before she gets eliminated early on like so many people are saying.

Emma:

I'm glad she broke up with Chase but they need to STAY BROKEN UP. Her giving Nichelle the cold shoulder was really mean and a little unexpected. It seems like her and Bowie aren't speaking to each other and I'm curious to see how that plays out. Not sure where she'll place, maybe in the middle?

Caleb:

Seems like he's trying to be strategic instead of villainous so far and struggling a little bit thanks to Millie. I hope he doesn't hurt Priya in some way. It's nice to see him getting more lines and screentime. He'll probably go far.

Damien:

I didn't expect him to still be a scaredy cat after what he said last season. If he doesn't change for the better soon I'm going to be extremely disappointed. No idea where he will place.

Axel:

She says that she's going to try to be nicer this time but I have my doubts and Ripper seems to be the exception lol. She might go far or she might go early again for being hot-headed.

Zee:

My favourite of season one is back and a soda influencer now which I didn't see coming. I really hope it doesn't get him eliminated early like it did in the challenge which was total crap. His soda was "moving" but he wasn't so he should have been fine. I would also like to see him interact with Priya more because I kinda ship them a bit. Both of his closest friends are on the other team so it could happen. I hope he goes far.

Nichelle:

She trained in the offseason and it paid off! I think she'll go far as long as it doesn't go to her head.

Team Skunk Butt

Bowie:

The other official team leader. His sass towards Chase was great but I thought it was weird that he picked him for his team. A lot of the cast is mad at him for last season and with that half-hearted apology, he seems to be digging himself into a deeper hole. His romance with Raj is still sweet and I hope it stays that way. I personally think he'll get booted early.

Raj:

I don't know if he'll go early or later but I think he'll help Emma and Bowie become friends again at the very least.

Wayne:

I would like him to go farther I think but I don't know what storyline he could have if he does. Might be an early boot unfortunately.

Julia:

Her and MK suddenly getting along is super weird and I fully expect one to backstab the other. I was impressed how she took Emma out of the challenge though. Another middle boot?

Chase:

Still dumb and still over confident. I could see him going early just for that and not listening to Bowie during challenges.

MK:

Seems to be on friendly terms with Julia but I think it's an act and she's going to backstab her at some point. Has an idea for the extra intern uniform and her hitching a ride on Caleb's back during the challenge was funny. She might go really far this time.

Lauren/Scary Girl:

Her new outfit is so weird but points for trying to fit in. Her scaring Bowie early on was kinda funny but her elimination was dumb. I don't know what Chef was going to say to her but her speech felt kinda forced and her team forgetting that she's a powerhouse when focused bothers me. I get why they did but still. Plus now they're on her bad side after voting her off. I fully expect her to be living in the woods and giggling in the middle of the night just to mess with them. She could also sabotage challenges somehow and be a genuine threat for everyone on the island. It'd be great to see Chris legitimately be afraid of her and her antics, he hasn't had that reaction to someone in a while. I'm excited to see more of her!

Ripper:

He was friendly to Axel at first, didn't fart at all and knew who Axe Hachet was. Was still rude to the acting team leader but he seems to be a bit better than last season so far. Could stick around a while?

Ok first off I love you and your opinions are 100% valid BUT I've been thinking for a while and I disagree about hajime and nagito clashing once Nagito wakes up. And this isn't a shipping thing I just want them to be friends. They had some sort of vibe in chapter 1 enough for Hajime to feel betrayed by Nagito's "oops-I'm-crazy" reveal, but even after that Hajime always just wanted to understand Nagito. And yes then chapter 4 happened and Nagito was an ass to everyone especially Hajime, but in the anime they seem like friends now?? Hajime was the only one there when he woke up and Nagito recognized he was Hajime and not Izuru immediately. They even ate on the boat together. Nagito definitely needs to change some of his mindsets thru therapy but the anime made me sad for him, the guy has no friends and he wants to be friends with kaz and fuyu and the others, he just needs help getting there. And he says weird stuff and can be creepy but Hajime accepts every other quirky person on the island so..? Idk I would love your thoughts :)

Ok so a while ago I talked about how I can imagine Nagito either, a) would resent Hajime for choosing his Just A Guy self over Izuru, or b) idolize him (like he idolizes all the Ultimates, but more) for nonetheless being The Ultimate Superguy. I'm not 100% on either, just figured those would be the two most likely scenarios. I also think both would not sit well with Hajime who now has a bit of a complex identity that he might not fully get himself, and having it sorta put in the spotlight all the time might be uncomfy.

I also sort of do-and-dont consider the anime, since I liked a bunch of things about it but some felt rushed, so I think of that ending as like .... thematically accurate but not necessarily how it went down? And I guess that includes the Nagito OVA. Like, thematically yes, Nagito is gonna be friendly with everyone now and it's reinstated how Hajime is himself (including Izuru) and they come a full circle with mimicking each other's poses from the start of the game; thematically YES very good. But i think it kinda happens too easily?

Tbh I just kinda think it's more boring if they're both immediately totally cool with one another, and I think they're more interesting when they clash and make each other think about things differently. Same with like, Mikan and Hiyoko, I don't buy that they're just immediately chill around each other after All That. That's not as satisfying as them having to work on themselves and the relationship. Like, with Nagito specifically digging at Hajime's insecurities and singling him out like he did, causing Chiaki's death (which he had a good reason for but it obviously hurt for Hajime especially), and just generally how Nagito was treated through a lot of the game (badly), and his views on Social Hierarchy being super challenged by Hajime even existing... having them just end as being wordlessly ok with it all is anticlimactic imo.

So like, whenever I talk about post-wakeup dynamics, in my mind I'm kind of thinking they had at LEAST a year together before the scene in the anime where everyone's awake and healthy and working together.

#Also going by some of the side games where it kinda seems like their personalities don't super mesh-#-BUT are very interesting together and kinda. Hint a a lot of growth if they try and do it well #I want them to DEVELOP #I hope any of that made sense #Not an art #Talky talky Tuesday #Also not super related but I wanna see how Nagito might fee about losing time to being in a coma #Since he doesnt have a lot of it.

HEHEHE YESSS!!!! Laz is my tenno oc (not the operator OR the drifter but a secret third thing (fusion of both that happened by accident)) and he and his husband seem to be on a quest to collect guys who just objectively kinda suck, with varying degrees of success. in duviri, laz got pretty lonely and at some point decided he was most likely to get attention by bothering lodun and pissing him off on purpose. it wasn’t long before laz got genuinely attached to the bastard, but his attempts at conveying affection seem to make him just as angry as teasing him did. lodun is in denial LMFAO but he’ll come around he just needs to be like… socialized. not used to having genuine friends, let alone anything further. he’s like a feral cat. he needs to be held until he stops biting. why don’t you get some hugs from a beautiful idiot and then maybe you’ll calm down

cav and laz had a similar dynamic going on at first, but by the time they reach a max-holdfast-rank point cav is a little more mellowed out and appreciates laz’s company a lot more tbh. they started off just like sparring and play fighting for fun (mostly boredom and pent up energy on cavs end, but laz just does this sort of thing for fun. beating the shit out of eachother is a time honored bonding activity btwn him and other tenno in his clan and to him it only naturally extends to anyone else he considers a friend) but well um. you know how it can get when you’re wrestling with the homies. guys being dudes, we’ve all been there.

i was digging for more art of them and realized that i started this silly little series of doodles AGES AGO and never properly finished it and now im mad at myself because the file is on my computer and i can’t get to it right now… but i shall let the wip free for now, i suppose. it’s been cookin for too long

a lot of laz and rigels respective boyfriends don’t really overlap (the polycule is. complicated. it includes a few other ocs. i ahve a chart about them in fact)

aaaaaaaa this episode.... it caught me off guard, I have lots of feelings and hopefully a couple of coherent thoughts

SPOILERS FOR EP 8 UNDER THE CUT

tbh I'm really excited about the changes (to the manga) they introduced in this episode, I like the direction so far

turns out vash and naï had different abilities from the start, and it's quite likely that vash felt lesser that his twin even during their time with rem (naï says that making food for him is "a waste" and vash uses the same sentiment when he was rescued). I'm guessing that vash's ability is to give away energy (but he's not self sustaining), while knives can only take from others (but he's eco friendly), which was already touched upon in previous iterations, but very briefly

plant lore! one of the things I didn't like about og anime is how vague all the plant stuff was, I had to read the fandom wiki to understand what they were. very based of stampede to go all hard sci-fi on us

the way vash refuses himself basic needs when he feels guilty.... and how this continues well into his adulthood.... his ass is not coping!!!

sequences after the fall were the most emotional, man! my boy vash got so much trauma from seeing all the dead and dying and feeling like it's all his fault... give him a hug now!!!!! but at the same time he actually was complicit and daaamn I can't wait to hear the full story there

idk if I got the vibe right (maybe subs were a bit misleading), but luida made up that rem saved them? it seemed as if she only said it to give vash a reason to live, and it's partially true (rem did try her best to save everyone), but ship three and a bunch of others survived mostly because they were lucky and not because rem managed to break the code. please correct me if I got it wrong. although I kinda dig the idea of vash glorifying rem while she was just as helpless as any other human in this situation

hair darkening confirmed... we were right to be worried all along. it's interesting that even in the earliest flashbacks he already has darkish eyebrows, hmm... what did this kid do? 👀

once again, wish there were more side characters, but luida and brad were pretty wholesome. wonder is they're still alive and how old is vash in this version (probably younger than 100 if luida is alive)

a bit sad that we didn't get to see the gang interacting while vash was blacked out, I was really looking into it. but at least we saw him with that clunky shoulder piece removed. from the teaser it seems like his new hand won't be all that different tho

love all the slutty outfits people were theorising about.... but that turtleneck? yep thats peak slut fashion and transmask swag. nothing will ever top the manga version but I still support it

next episode is gonna kill me.... and something tells me that the time vash spent unconcious is gonna be all the rest he gets. DAMN. still manifesting scar reveal

now to predictions: after ep 6 I thought that we'll visit the seeds ppl this time around and we kinda did, I just didn't expect for a flashback to last a whole episode and more. ep 9 is pretty obvious from the teaser and in 11 vash should already be in july so that the season finale can happen in at least two episodes. then 10 is probably gonna be all about getting to this final destination. could be that the gang gets separated by that time ('cause vash will push them away), but they'll all still be in july when shit hits the fan
