TMNT Headcanons: Japanese
For every installment of TMNT I’m providing why each turtle would speak/practice/appreciate Japanese, enjoy!
TMNT 2003
Leonardo
- speaking in Japanese strictly to speak formally to Splinter
- doesn’t curse
- nothing informal, iykyk
- I honestly think he would be great at writing kanji, I headcanon that Leonardo has the neatest handwriting out of his brothers
Raphael
- definetely uses that shit to degrade EVERYONE and EVERYTHING that pisses him off.
- You know that man gets mad at everything, even BUGS.
-Expect it to be very informal, likes to use it around Casey to confuse him
-can’t write it as good as Leo, but it’s legible & that’s what matters y’all
Donatello
- uses it to curse…but a little for the sake of speaking it just to speak it.
- Still working on informalities and formalities, but whatever
- not the best at writing it
-chicken scratch fr fr
- don’t ask him to write anything for you
-secretly uses duolingo, emotionally attached to the duo bird xoxo
Michelangelo
- uses it to curse
- can translate (when nobody asked,)
- also to joke around, observe:
Raph: *incoherent cursing in Japanese*
Mikey: so what he means to say is-
Leo: I know what he said!
TMNT 2007
Leonardo
-loves to describe different things using Japanese. Like, he'll compliment the weather or the way something looks
-liked to use it in South America to scare people into thinking it was a ghost
- sort of kind of writes it, not all the time, I think 2007!Leo would fuck up some Japanese poetry though <3
Raphael
-you guys remember his police radio right? Sometimes he'll go on there and talk in Japanese just to fuck with them.
-they dont know what he's saying
-observe the phrase Raph loves the most:
"クソ制服からゼリーを舐め続けろ、ろくでなし!"
-ill let you guys search that.
- uses it around Mikey to confuse him, but only for short phrases
-doesn’t write it as much, I headcanon he has the second best handwriting in this one since he’s canonically left handed, (I’m ambidextrous) but I speak for all left handed people that we dislike the lead stain on the side of our hands A LOT.
Donatello
-like raph, he uses it someitmes to fuck with the customers on the other line of his IT Tech Support job. If they're giving him a hard time, or being plain stupid, he'll start describing what to do to fix their problem in a different language.
-uses it freely, except one time he was helping a guy who was fluent in it.
-all it took was a "yokai" in response and Donnie was bamboozled.
-he doesn't use it as much on there anymore after that.
-definitely had one of those learn kanji books where you trace the symbols so he can better learn the linework
Michelangelo
-i like to think in this universe of tmnt, Mikey and Splinter watch J-dramas together
-its already mentioned that Splinter is into soaps, imagine him and Mikey watching a good old J-Drama from the 90s.
-Without english subtitles
-Splinter likes it that way, it's more dramatic
-has definitely taught some kids from the parties he hosted how to write pizza in Japanese
TMNT 2012
Leonardo
-okay, he definetely has watched Space Heroes in the Japanese Dub
-A1 voice acting, he loves it
-He sometimes like to say the orders in his head he says to his brothers in Japanese, to see if he still got his translating skills yk?
- would try and speak it around Karai to impress her no doubt
- called inanimate objects by their name in Japanese- couch: ソファー table: テーブル mutagen: 変異原, you get the gist yall
-while splinter was teaching them all how to read and write, Leo got his hands on some post-its and stuck them on every piece of furniture and machinery around the lair and wrote their name in kanji
-convinced that it works and don’t tell him otherwise
Donatello
-would 100% teach April a thing or two
-Master Splinter offered to teach April
-cue Donnie coming into the cut saying he could do it instead
-one on one study sessions with him and April, she enjoys it a lot
-donnie is actually a great teacher
-until he gets into the phonetic and semantics- ie; the science on why in the Japanese language they pronounce certain things the way they do
-she doesn't remember much about that part
- talks to himself while he’s working on an invention, sometimes to Timothy
-Timothy definitely doesn’t understand what the fuck he’s saying
Bayverse TMNT
Leonardo
-most likely uses it while on missions and fighting and in stealth mode, but mainly uses sign language during said stealth mode
-he practices his writing all the time, is really into line work and origins of the language/the evolution of it from ancient to modern Japanese
- enjoys reading it in his downtime, that man definitely has a stack of old Japanese literature that he likes to read!
Donatello
-Reddit man for the win
- anything about Japanese culture/aesthetics, he can answer!
-doesn’t speak it much, but he enjoys learning about the culture a lot!
-REALLY loves Japanese City Pop, probably bayverse Donnie’s favorite genre of music no doubt
-Donnie passes notes under the door of his lab to whoever’s passing by when he needs something, not a full sentence at all, just one word notes.
Observe:
After some loud knocking coming from the other side of the lab door, Leonardo comes to it as if it’s a habit at this point. He’s so used to Donnie not coming out his lab for hours, and he’s come accustomed to retrieving any item he needs from the “outside world.”
So when he sees the neatly placed slip of paper of “food!” written in chicken scratch kanji, he’s trudging his feet to the cupboard where Donnie’s secret stash of lab snacks are. Yes, a whole bin that’s labeled “lab snacks.” He reaches for the usual packet of strawberry frosted Pop-Tarts, noticing that there’s only one box left. He would have to ask April to get some again soon.
Leonardo wonders if he should attempt to toast them for Donnie, but as he glances at the silver toaster that Donnie fixed (again) a few nights ago, he thinks about how badly it would end and how pissed Donnie would get for having to fix it the 4th time this week. He picks out the aluminum wrapped strawberry Pop Tarts as is, placing the bin back in its secret place to where Mikey can’t see it.
Raphael
-likes the art aspect of Japanese culture, has the kanji for “family” etched on his shell
-since he knits in his past time, he makes small things that reflect the language or art in some way, whether it be making a cherry blossom rug for Splinter’s room, or making Mikey his requested mits for the winter time patrols with his name written in kanji
- like Donnie, he doesn’t verbally speak it, but incorporates it into his life in some way
-will engrave anything if his that he can with kanji
-since he can’t exactly get a tattoo, he reverts to engraving, hence his shell
Michelangelo
- 100% calls the pizza shop and orders in Japanese
-they don’t understand what he’s saying
-when the Hamato family is feeling some Japanese food, he hits them up and orders in Japanese, he gets all giddy when they respond back
Rise!TMNT
Leonardo
-him and Donnie argue in Japanese 110%
-he’s struggling with memorizing certain kanji symbols, so he’s using Rosetta Stone
-doesn’t like the Duo bird
-has a conspiracy theory that the Duo bird tracks his every move???
-will switch the TV to a J-Drama or put Splinter’s TV to the Japanese Dub version of whatever he’s watching just to fuck with him
-secretly enjoys said J-Dramas
-pretends to be leader and barks orders in Japanese
-yeah nobody listens to him
Donatello
-using his “platinum library card,” he loves those Japanese picture books of modern art
-DOES NOT lend them to Mikey, since he’s missing some now
-overdue library books because of this
-really enjoys those learn kanji trace workbooks, will trace the symbols with a purple colored pencil
-also, everything he writes will be in purple
-he doesn’t care what you think about that
Raphael
-calls animals by their name in Japanese
-cats, dogs, whatever! He’s naming them out loud
-had a pet parrot once that he got to speak back to him in Japanese
-he loved that
-until Leo got his parrot to curse in Japanese
-didn’t know how to make him stop, so he had to deal with that for a while
Michelangelo
-participates in changing the TV around to the Japanese Dub with Leo to mess with Splinter
-the cause of Donnie’s overdue books
-he really likes the art! Preferably the modern art
-100% prank calls people with Leo pretending to be foreign realtors & telling people they’re overdue on their car insurance

Happy Fandom Love Day @lilyoffandoms! This picks up where your little kidnapping of my girl took off earlier this week! lol I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for being you, Lily! 💜
Book: Open Heart Pairings: Ethan x Merida, Bryce x Olivia, Tobias x Casey Rating: Teen Words: 1,600 Summary: It took a lot to get Casey away from Tobias for a Girl's Weekend Away, but Merida and Olivia had it all under control. Now, let's see what they got into while they were gone and how the guys coped back in Boston. A/N: Merida and Ethan belong to @lilyoffandoms and Bryce and Olivia belong to @storyofmychoices.
Tumblr media
Eyes hidden behind dark sunglasses, Casey raised the frosty beverage to her lips and let the sweet liquor coat her tongue. She let out a wickedly slow, delightful groan as the cool drink washed over her, directly contrasting with the hot sun pulsating off her skin. She had surrendered. Falling back into her lounge chair with a sigh of satisfaction, everything felt right with the world. Perhaps that’s because she was unaware of two sets of eyes fixed on her from either side as this spectacle unfolded.
Olivia fought back a giggle as her eyes met Merida’s over their satiated friend. Olivia might be willing to let this slide, but that wasn’t Merida’s style.
“Jesus! No wonder Tobias didn’t want to let you go. If that’s your reaction to a frozen margarita... in public... I can only imagine when you’re reacting to... other things... privately.”
Remaining in her reclined state of ecstasy, a grin crossed Casey’s lips. “Now you understand why it was so difficult for him to part with me.”
She reached for her drink and took another long sip with an equally salacious reaction. As Merida laughed, a blushing Olivia gazed around to ensure no one else was watching.
“It’s good to know that you have a future in adult film voiceovers if medicine doesn’t work out for you, MacTavish,” Merida grinned.
“Wait!” Olivia exclaimed, placing her drink on the table by her side. “That’s a thing?”
Casey tilted her head in her friend’s direction, laying a hand on her thigh.
“Dear, sweet, Olivia... sometimes I almost feel guilty for how much we’re corrupting you.”
“Yeah, I don’t,” Merida snorted.
“It’s not a thing,” Casey smiled. “So if medicine doesn’t work out for me... I guess I’ll have to go all the way.”
“We need to come up with a porn name for you,” Merida insisted after emptying her own drink. “Not that I don’t expect your medical career to work out... just for fun.”
“This is fun,” Casey agreed, flagging down the poolside waiter for another round.
Merida flashed a snide glance Casey’s way. “And to think, we nearly had to kidnap you to get you out of Boston,” she teased. “Tobias can be quite greedy and selfish.”
“Oh, go easy on him, Mer... you can’t blame him for being a little insecure. He knows damn well if I met you before meeting him or before you met Ethan, he would have some serious competition on his hands.”
“Competition?” Merida barked. “As if. I would have wiped the floor with that cocky bastard.”
As Casey and Merida happily downed their fresh drinks, they noticed Olivia was a s little more reserved.
“Liv, everything OK?” Merida asked.
“Yeah... I’m just wondering... would Bryce have had competition, too?”
“Of course!” Casey insisted. “Liv, you’re stunning! I would have fought the man off with a stick!”
“Mmm,” Merida nodded. “Of course, you’re our token straight friend, which may have given him a bit of an advantage.”
“Meh,” Casey waved dismissively. “I think everyone is a little bit bi. They just haven’t all admitted it yet.”
“It’s OK,” Merida assured. “Oliva, you would have been invited to the party even if you didn’t want to attend.”
The three women fell into a fit of giggles that only worsened as the afternoon progressed and the drinks kept coming. When evening approached, the tipsy trio made their way to their hotel room. Casey dove face-first into her bed, while Olivia collapsed into a chair beside the balcony. Marida poured glasses of water for herself and her friends.
“What do you think the guys are doing right now?” Olivia asked.
“Downing their sorrows,” Casey mumbled with closed eyes. “They can’t stand being away from us.”
“She’s probably right,” Merida smiled. “They’re probably as inebriated as we are... but not having as much fun doing it.”
~~~~~
Back in Boston.
A forlorn Tobias sat hunched over the bar at Donahues, his usual chipper bravado missing in action. Ethan sat at his side looking... well... the same way he always looks. Nodding toward Reggie, he summoned two more drinks.
“What do you think they’re doing now?” Tobias asked.
“I can’t speak for everyone. But I’m sure Casey’s being approached by a ridiculously tan and toned specimen. They’re bright, attractive, personable, and she’s finally coming to her senses and realizing she  could do so much better than you.”
“You know, you’re an asshole,” Tobias smirked before sipping his Scotch. “I wouldn’t be so confident if I were you, buddy. Everyone knows Mer is so far out of your league. Maybe this is where she has her wake-up call, too.”
Ethan raised his glass with a shrug. “Here’s to our women,” he began. “May they never realize how pathetic we are.”
“Hear, hear,” Tobias laughed as their glasses clinked and they downed their drinks, quickly summonsing Reggie for refills.
Sometime later, Bryce got off shift and headed directly to meet the guys. He was still in his scrubs, but with his bright smile and not a single hair out of place, he looked like he stepped off the cover of a magazine.
“Hey, Guys!” He said enthusiastically as he slipped onto a stool. “Looks like you’re a little ahead of me.”
“Yep! You have to keep up, young man,” Tobias grinned. “What’s your poison?”
“I need a minute to decide. Have either of you heard from the girls? I hope they’re having a good time.”
“We have not,” Ethan deadpanned. “And I hope they’re having an... adequate... time.”
“Adequate?” Bryce questioned. “Why?”
Tobias wobbly turned toward his friend, placing a hand on his shoulder. “Bryce, just hope they don’t realize they could do much better than us.”
“What? Don’t be ridiculous,” Bryce laughed. “You’re not really worried, are you?”
Ethan and Tobias exchanged a devious look. “I don’t know,” Ethan sighed. “Our ladies are pretty damn special.”
“Sure as hell are,” Tobias agreed. “Brilliant, beautiful, kindhearted...”
“Witty!” Ethan interjected. “They can strike up a conversation with anyone and leave them spellbound. Merida did it to me.”
“Absolutely!” Tobias nodded. “And their flirtation game... damn, it rivals mine.”
Ethan turned to him with disgust. “Are you kidding me? Theirs is so much better than yours.”
“Yeah,” Bryce laughed nervously, “But they love us. Besides, Olivia is the shy one... she wouldn’t be flirting or anything like that.”
His friends' heads spun his way with incredulous grins on their faces. “Maybe once,” Tobias chuckled. “But she’s friends with our girls now.”
“Yep,” Ethan agreed. “She’s learning at the feet of the masters.”
“Right, right,” Bryce chuckled as images of his sweet Olivia filled his mind... his sweet Olivia, who had become so much more outgoing since...  “But they’re not there to party or anything. Right? By now, they’re probably back in the room, watching a movie or having tea.”
“Tea?” Tobias spat as his phone rang. “Oh, shit, it’s them now. Case is facetiming.” He quickly hit accept, and his face lit up as she appeared. “Hey, baby! Having fun?”
“Hey, T! Sure am, we’re at the pool party... I feel like I’m back in college again!”
“Oh really,” he joked. “Just remember, you’re an old married lady now.”
“What?” Casey giggled, “I don’t see a ring on this finger, bub!”  Her giggles broke into full-blown laughter, and her head tilted forward. Unable to control giggling, Tobias unsuccessfully attempted to get her attention.
“Babe... Babe... Casey... you there, hon?”
Merida picked up the phone instead. “Hey, T.  She’s fine. Maybe one Mai Tai too many, but she’s fine. I’m supervising.”
“Oh, Jesus Christ,” Ethan groaned. “Now I feel better.”
“Is that my grump? Let me see him.”
Ethan took the phone from Tobias’s hands. “You know I’m teasing, darling. Don’t you?”
“Of course I do. But I am cutting these girls off for the rest of the night.”
“Girls?” Bryce asked. “Where is Olivia?”
“Olivia?” Mer laughed, turning the phone toward Olivia. Downing the large mug of beer in her hand, Olivia was eating up the attention of her adoring crowd, yelling, “CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG!” She dropped her empty mug to the table, jumped on her chair, and yelled, “Woooooo!”.
Bryce’s eyes went wide. “Olivia?”
“You’re right,” Ethan replied without emotion. “She’s the demure one of the group.”
“Yeah, I better go,” Merida sighed. “I’ve got my hands full here. Remember, guys, we love you.”
Bryce grabbed the phone from Ethan’s hands.
“Merida, can I talk to....” but it went dead.
Ethan and Tobias fought back smirks as Tobias consoled their friend. “Hey, you OK there, pal?”
“Yeah... I’m,” he faltered. “You’re not really worried .... are you?”
“No!” Tobias chuckled. “We’re just busting balls. I mean, look at the three of us. We’re freaking amazing!” When he turned to Ethan, he backtracked. “Well, two of us are amazing. If I were Ramsey, I would be worried.”
Ignoring him, Ethan turned to Bryce. “It’s fine, they’re just having fun.”
“I know,” Bryce fretted, “but... what have your girls done to Olivia?”
“I don’t know, buddy,” Tobias sneered. “But if Casey teaches her any other tricks while they’re gone... I assure you... you’ll be a very happy man when they return.”
“Hey,” Reggie grinned as he approached the men. “Looks like Lahela has joined the party. What can I get you, man?”
Lost in thought, he didn’t reply.
“Bryce?” Reggie asked as Tobias jumped in.
“You know what... bring him a Blue Hawaiian,” he said, throwing his arm over Bryce’s shoulder.
“Well, that’s fitting,” Ethan laughed.
“Just for the next ten minutes or so,” Tobias grinned. “We’ll get him back on track.”
Some things never change
Pairing: Rise!Leo x F!Reader
words: 753
A/N: Okay! So my new obsession! I swear ill go back to cod but I needed to get this out my system! I may or may not do more ROTTMNT content idk not sure yet! Alrighty hope to those that read this enjoy!!!
WARNING: POST-MOVIE SO MOVIE SPOILERS?? KIND OF?? NOT REALLY!!
"LEO!!" (Y/n) rushed over, wrapping the blue turtle in her embrace. Resting her head on his shoulder as she sobbed. "You IDIOT! Scaring me like that! Scaring everyone!" She gripped onto his plastron, tears rolling down her face. Leo slowly placed a hand on her head, softly caressing her scalp. "I thought I'd never see you again! Your generally crappy one-liners, your charming smile," she went on and on; the others stood behind staring fondly at the two. They all shared her sentiment.
Leo moved her to see her face, "Woah Woah, you saying you don't like my one-liners!" He cupped his hands around her face wiping fresh tears as they fell. "First of all, how dare you~" he cooed at her, "secondly... I'm sorry. Keeping you safe, keeping everyone safe was my first priority." He spoke in a serious yet sincere tone, flashing her his iconic grin. She couldn't be angry as much as she wanted to be, she was just scared. "If my sacrifice promised you a better life, I would in a heartbe-"
"A world without you Leon, god, I can't even imagine it!" She wrapped her arms around his neck, resting herself in the crook of his neck. "Leonardo, I think I speak for everyone that without you; life, the world would be incomplete." Leo's eyes open wide, hearing those words come from her mouth. The others nod as Leo's eyes scan the room; overwhelmed by emotion, his eyes well with tears. Casey Jones looked on seeing the two acting like this made him relieved. It made of think back to his times, times he would be up late seeing master Leonardo sitting alone on the lookout.
Especially after the death of Raph and Donnie, Master Leo looked at those wastelands with a cloud of fear. Nights were then joined by his wife, who always brewed him a fresh cup of tea. The two always talked till late into the night, and despite being in the apocalypse the two always laughed about something. She kept Master Leo looking forward, looking straight. In the hell he lived in, he never saw a man happier in his life.
Coming back to reality Casey sighed, "I'm glad some things never change." He smiled, not yet realizing how loud he said that.
"What doesn't change Casey!" Mikey leaned closer to Casey, staring up at him intently.
"Oh sorry, I didn't mean to say that so loud! It's nothing!" He laughed nervously; he pulled his mask down slowly. His face flushed red from embarrassment.
"No no, go on Casey. I'm deathly curious now!" Leo raised his brow, giving him a smirk. Casey rubbed the back of his neck, "let me guess! Me being the greatest and strongest ninja ever~"
"Leo!" The group laughed in unison as he shrugged. (Y/n) wiped tears from her eyes as she stared lovingly at Leo. "All that talk about it not being about you!"
"What can I say, old habits die hard~"
"Okay shut it, Leo, let him speak." Donatello pulled out a notepad and waited intensely, "the next thing he says could possibly expand my research into quantum time theories and the existence of multiple timelines!"
"It's nothing that important," Casey rubbed his shoulder, "It's just for those two, even despite future changing their care for each other hasn't. It's kind of a relief to me." Casey raised his mask again, his eyes down to the floor, "I even see why they got married in my time..."
"MARRIED!" The room went into chaos after Casey spoke these words. Mickey and Raph were gushing, April wasn't reacting that much but had an approving look. Donnie threw his notepad on the floor in a huff and Splinter well he was silent, eyes closed while nodding his head; who knows what happens in there... (Y/N) was a stuttering mess, Leo watched her in amusement and even teased her from time to time. In any case, Casey should have never said it.
"Some things really never change" he spoke quieter this time. No need for another freakout.
BONUS!!
Leo: See (y/n)! We were destined for each other!
Y/n: M-m-m-m-ma-ma...
Leo: oooohhhh a wedding in an apocalyptic time, that must have been fun! Butalsolikereallydepressing... did we go on a honeymoon?
Casey: You guys got married before I was born so idk...
Y/n: m-m *passes out momentarily*
Leo: oughhh boi, I think we genuinely lost her... oh she must be so happy she died~
All: LEO!
Leo: JOKING joking! Jesuss- she passes out when she gets super overwhelmed, she's fine!
ROTTMNT Headcanons: I finally finished moving so y’all get me back
Here’s how I think the family would react to moving (cause I have no imagination)
April: would try to hide how much the move affects her
She would move all her stuff out of her old apartment the second she got the keys
And she would unpack the second she gets into the new place
She would also throw a housewarming party/multiple sleepovers so she doesn’t feel so alone
The boys have moved a lot but some handle it better than others
Raph: would try to stay strong for his siblings
He would try to stay optimistic and help his siblings plan out their rooms
But he is a very emotional and sentimental person
So the second they get to the new place he’s bawling like a baby
And it takes him a long time to get adjusted to the new place
Leo: would handle the move the best
Even though he’s a sentimental person he’s also a firm believer that home is not a place it’s the people he surrounds himself with
He also thrives under pressure and craves change
He makes an internal schedule so the moving process is swift and efficient
But he also gives his siblings just enough time to grieve
Donnie: handles change the absolute worst
At first, he would refuse to move and he would make a whole PowerPoint presentation about how their home is just fine the way it is
And when he realizes it doesn't matter what he says they’re still going to move so he shuts down
His siblings pester him to help
He’ll try to pack and unpack but he kind of gets in the way cause he’s stuck in his head
Casey: is right alongside Donnie
He fucking hates moving it reminds him of the future
The family tries to give him some stability but they also know they can’t stay stagnant forever
Unlike Donnie, Casey is really helpful during the moving process but he does mope during the entire process
Mikey: it really depends
Like Leo, he loves change and hates staying in one place for too long
But the second he notices how it’s affecting his siblings he starts getting sad too
April Leo and Mikey try to cheer the group up and sometimes it works and sometimes they let their siblings go through the cycle of grieving the past
So Leo has a lucky rock in “air turtle” and has enough rocks on him to replace his siblings in “flushed but never forgotten”
He definitely has a rock and crystal collection
He gave them all black tourmaline, and amethyst after season 2 for protection and to help with grief
He gave April citrine for good luck
Raph got a Rose Quartz to help with his anxiety (and to improve his self-love)
Donnie gets a Pyrite to help cleans him of all the bad juju technology brings
Casey gets Hematite to help ground him
Mikey gets Carnelian to boost his creativity
And there are times when Leo will force the whole group to stop because he saw a sick ass rock on the sidewalk
Donnie has gotten into serious arguments that go something along the lines of “no Leo I won't stop the tank so you can go get a dirty disgusting rock off the side of the road I’ve already done that three times today”
So it’s pretty obvious that Leo will say random shit in Spanish every once and a while
And I was thinking “the boys definitely copy that right?”
Like every once in a while you just hear Raph go “dónde está my wallet?”
And sometimes Mikey will say shit like “he’s a little… cómo se dice insane in the membrane”
Donnie also has a terrible habit of yelling “WHAT?” When he can’t hear someone
And it annoys the shit out of Splinter
He always tells him “don’t yell ‘what’ that’s rude”
So he yells “QUÉ?” Instead (cause he’s technically not saying what)
Leo also has a tough time saying “I love you”
And for some reason saying it in Spanish is easier (probably cause he was under the assumption that his siblings didn’t know what it meant)
So he always ends the conversation with “te amo” no matter how pissed he is
And it wasn’t until his siblings responded with “te amo más” that he realized they knew what he meant this whole time
And he’s weirdly okay with that
I’ve always loved the trope episode where the protagonists enter a mirror dimension / meet a counterpart that are the opposite of them. So here are some interactions I imagine happening in an episode like that for Rottmnt (post movie) going:
Donnie:
Donnie: “So dimensional counter part me, seeing as how we’re the smartest, we’ll get started on a way to get back.”
Mirror!Donnie: “Of course. Even if you are an entirely different dimension version of me, I too trust in our competence.”
Both Donnies : “TO THE LAB! / TO MY MAGIC WORKSHOP!”
Donnie: “Uh, sounds of disgust! You did not just say magic.”
Mirror!Donnie: “Oh please, condescending eye roll. You can’t honestly stand there and claim your science to be better than my magic.”
They’re both nerds just in different fields. The only field of science Mirror!Donnie respects is geology (bc in the library episode Donnie made fun of geology). Mirror!Shelldon is a rock brought to life with magic. The Donnie’s don’t have many differences outside of their stances of science/magic.
Mikey (+ a bit about Draxum)
Mikey: “Awww! I can’t believe we have even more family! I’m Mikey, these are my brothers, oh I guess you already know that. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.”
Mirror!Draxum: “The pleasures all mine. It’s good to met a Mikey who doesn’t want me dead.”
Mikey: “Hmmm, what now?”
[Mirror!Draxum side steps as an anvil falls where he was previously standing]
Mirror!Draxum: “I’m referring to that.”
Mirror!Mikey from atop the fridge: “Agh, just die already! Just cause Pops says you’re redeemed doesn’t mean I’m letting you into the family. And you!”
[points to Mikey]
Mirror!Mikey: “We’re not family, you’re just an alternative universe version of us. I definitely don’t trust you. I’ve got enough to deal with the goat and the fish.”
While both Mikey’s care a lot for their families, it manifest in different ways. Mirror!Mikey is extremely mistrusting of anyone who isn’t “the family”: this includes Splinter, his brothers, and April (that one took a while) but everyone else is fair game. He’s the one most against Mirror!Draxum joining the family, and has issue with Mirror!Piebald for trying flush them (yes she still did that and no, Mirror!Mikey doesn’t care that it “was just a prank”). He sees both parties as threats. He also sees these dimensional counterparts as threats. He doesn’t try to kill them tho because they look too much like his own family. Our Mikey is still trying to befriend him (the quest to extend his family never stops)
Casey Jr
Casey Jr tilting his head in confusion: “Huh, we don’t look different…”
[Mirror!Casey Jr takes a loud sip of his “THE KRAANG WERE RIGHT” mug]
Casey Jr: YOU MOTHERFU- [Casey Jr goes to strangle him]
Mirror!Casey: AGH
I don’t have an explanation for this one. Casey Jr doesn’t get one either as every time he tries to ask his mirror counterpart a comedic situation will result in him not getting an answer. He finally sits him down for an explanation but that’s when the Donnie’s find how to return, which results in an immediate teleportation back. Casey Jr never gets his answer.
I’ll stop here for now, I might post another part if I get more ideas.
As much as I love and adore the writing and angst potential there is of having F!Leo direct his own anger and resentment of himself for causing the apocalypse on Little Leo, I genuinely don’t think he hated himself anymore at the end. Do I think he hated himself for a really long time? Yes, absolutely. But, the thing is, he was in the apocalypse for 26 years. That’s a lot of time to think.
And here’s the thing, when the apocalypse started he was 14. He thought he and his brothers were untouchable, that nothing wrong could ever happen to them because they beat The Shredder, the seemingly unbeatable enemy. He was still a kid. He wasn’t acting overconfident to play up his incompetence as a leader to get Raph to take the title back, he was like that because he truly thought he was invincible.
And that overconfidence caused the world to end.
And there is no way his brothers let him hang onto that self-hatred for 26 years. (And apologies in advance, I’m gonna use my own experience with self-hate to help get my point across here.)
Now, here’s the thing. I completely understand what it means to hate a younger version of yourself, because for a long time I despised young me. I thought I was the scum of the Earth, deserving of every bad thing that ever happened to me.
And then my therapist got me to take a step back and actually look at 11 year old me.
And I realized how alone I was. How small I was. Tiny, scared, alone, and hurting. Little me was going through hell and here I was blaming them for something out of their control entirely. And when I realized that, I’d never wanted to hold and apologize to someone as much as I did in that moment.
F!Leo is 39 when he and F!Mikey send Casey back in time. I can’t imagine he would spend 26 years hating himself and blaming everything on a 14 year old kid just to say “It’s not about me” with a smile at the end. He forgave himself a long time ago.
Now that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be fighting the urge to body little him for being the most annoying motherfucker this side of New York. There just wouldn’t be any genuine hate or animosity. He’d tell little him to stfu and then a stranger would say the same thing and he’d immediately threaten the stranger with his katana for saying that.
I’m all for him having the realization he doesn’t hate Little Leo while interacting with him but I just personally think he realized that in canon a very long time ago.
… that and Mikey would never let him hate himself for very long.
[Casey asked:]
Hmm, I thought about something: Now, imagine the moment between the young(kids) castes, and the current (currently) castes OW
What was their reaction? It could be a comical moment, it could be touching, sad, or nothing, or it could be confusion in the situation
For example: Maybe our castes decided to give advice to their past selves, or support, or simply by asking each other questions. Even a nice conversation with yourself from the past, while you are sitting, and you also remember these moments, both bad and good times.
Perhaps little Genzou would have asked: “Why are you like this? Haven’t I gotten taller?👀” 🤣
Just a joke.
But I wanted to listen to your thoughts on this matter, it doesn’t affect anything, it’s just a thought to think “what if...”
i feel like such a big theme of OW in general is figuring yourself out and how long that can take sometimes, which is honestly based a lot on my own struggles i've had to go through in my life. like the biggest thing i would want to say to myself is "hey by the way you're this, this, this, and this so don't worry about trying to be something you're not" so that i wouldn't have to go through years and years of feeling broken or like something wasn't right or like i was constantly having to wear this mask
so in my head probably most of the chars would want to say similar types of things to their past selves 😅 most obvious would probably be iggy and gidget. genzou would probably just tell his past self to shut the heck up and stop being such an ass. orlam would probably tell his younger self not to give up after high school. and bucks would tell her younger self not to let herself get knocked up so easily LOL
Alan Wake dies.
In this essay I will-
... actually try my hand at a relatively objective examination of and discussion about why Alan Wake 2 ending with Alan's death would, and would not, make sense. I even used proper capitalization for once to emphasize how serious I am /hj. This has been kickstarted by this post by @stuckinthedarkplace; lately I've been thinking a lot about how AW2 could possibly end, and I feel like this possibility should be talked about. So. Let's not pad this out any further.
Pro #1: Alan’s death would make for an excellent tragedy and/or further reinforce the concept of him dying a martyr if they make his death vital to defeat the antagonist for good (who- or whatever it might be). After a years-long torturous fight, the hero sacrifices himself in unwavering bravery to do one last thing for the greater good. A selfless act, ensuring that even if he can’t make it, his loved ones will. Something like that. Plus, I imagine the majority of us players would like to see him walk away from it all alive; taking this away from us might elicit a rather emotional response, which is what every storyteller wants, right?
Contra #1: All these aforementioned years might feel like they have been for nothing. The lengths Alan went to to fight, to persevere, to endure, to survive, for more than a decade – in vain, pointless. Remedy themselves have stated that Alan has “wished he had died many times” – but all this time he held on, not letting go of the fickle hope that he can come back, come home, to Alice, Barry, Sarah. Remedy making an effort to explain what Alan was up to, in Night Springs during the events of American Nightmare and during the setup and unfolding of AWE, and them securing all the rights to the IP for good back in 2019; Alan as a character seems a bit too big, too important to just kill.
Pro #2: Him dying would leave few loose ends. Alice has lived under the presumption that he died for a few years anyway, probably until Mr. Scratch showed up at her doorstep at least, but if we assume that he’ll be taken care of over the course of the game while Alan does not escape, then him biting the dust would be the next most logical option. Saga and Alex either finish their mission knowing they failed to take him in alive, or even be forced to abort it, maybe because of unforeseen complications or lack of results. Alan has been living in hell for so long, by dying he’d finally escape it. It would be over, and if other characters could be made aware of his definitive passing maybe they too could move on, find peace, be done with the nightmare.
Contra #2: Alan is Sam Lake’s baby. Would he really kill him off for good? I certainly don’t think it’s beyond him, at this point I think he could write anything and it would somehow fit, but... Alan is Sam’s baby. Sam has been fighting to bring him back for this entire time. Somehow I have my doubts he’d throw that away, throw him away. (cf. Contra #1.)
Pro #3: Alan has killed Casey in The Sudden Stop. If Sam killed Alan, his story would directly mirror Alan’s and Casey’s; this would add another excellent meta layer on top. Kill your darlings or something. Let’s hope Sam doesn’t get writer’s block and plan to travel to some cabin on a lake anytime soon.
Contra #3: It might feel cheap and unimaginative. It’s an ancient trope, almost older than It-Was-All-Just-A-Dream. Can’t figure out an ending? Don’t know where to take the story next? Looking for a straightforward way out? Kill the protagonist. Better yet, just kill everyone. Boom, job done. I’m exaggerating of course, but I speak from experience. Don’t look for my old fics.
Pro #4: The story of AW1 was, at its heart, about the creative process and a lot of the feelings and mental mechanisms behind it. Stories end, lives end. Death feels final. Inevitable. A dead writer at the end of the story... there’s a ring to it. (contradicts Contra #3.)
Contra #4: Remedy would make it harder for themselves to expand further on their connected universe, which they have said was their goal for the next project(s). At this point I imagine AW is a very precious asset for them. Granted, I’m sure they’d always find a way to expand anyway, this is Sam Lake we’re talking about but... I still doubt that it would feel quite right. I mean, hell, they used to call AW2 “project big fish”. That’s gotta count for something, right?
So. Which side are you on?
Second Chair Spark Ch 6
Tumblr media
Warnings: Language, talk of the job, smuuuuutttt!!
I already suck at thinking up my own cases, so the case I 100% stolen from 15….3? Barba’s first episode, 25 acts, just altered to include our girls and not him.
** You’d expected Novak to come storming into your office screaming about how incredibly unprofessional you were that morning (which you would of course fire back that not only had she started it, but she brought your personal life into work) but all you got was a text saying she needed you in her office to start working on the case. You were surprised, you’d legitimately thought she was going to throw you off the case after the outburst at the 16th, though…there was still time.
“What’d’you need?” Your voice was hard as you entered Casey’s office, approaching her desk. She reached off to the side, tossing a case file towards you, “Get digging.” Her gaze didn’t meet yours as she gestured towards the table, you huffed, picking up the file, pulling your I-pad and legal pad out of your bag before you settled in at the table. Jocelyn Paley, author of the newest erotic novel ’Twenty-Five Acts’ had appeared on Adam Cain’s talk show the night before. The file said that they’d gone for drinks, she’d been flirting with him, but when they got to her hotel room, he crossed a line, choking her out with his belt before anally penetrating her, much against her will. You knew Cain’s life was already openly spread across the media, so you took to Jocelyn’s. Periodically checking in with SVU who had someone speed reading through the book to try and figure things out. The next night Jocelyn was at an event party when Cain came after her again, assaulting her in an elevator. You and Novak had a meeting with her, explaining that she needed to be honest with you about everything, she went over her story with you again, thankfully not varying from what she’d told the detectives
.After Jocelyn left you both buried yourself into the case, you low key hated the fact that you were stuck in Novak’s office instead of your own where you could at least loosen up a little bit while you worked. You’d been working on how to really get to Jocelyn and Cain when they took the stand, and Novak questioned them, switching back to your I-pad, moving through her social media before letting out a grunt of a huff.
“What?” The other lawyer practically barked out, annoyed at the interruption.
“Something’s not right…”
“And that means what exactly?”
“Jocelyn…there’s something she’s not telling us. I’ve combed through all of her social media accounts, there is nothing to even make a joke that she’s even the slightest above vanilla. I’m starting to think the only sex position this girl knows is missionary.” Casey practically snorted,  “So?”
“So if a girl doesn’t have any knowledge of that kind of sex life how does she write an entire book on it.”
“People aren’t always that open about it Gerard.” You quirked a brow, giving a small chuckle,
“Some of these sites are unbelievable anonymous, you could send a post and no one could know who it was without tracing your IP address.” You sighed, “Besides, people with asphyxiation kinks usually cover the bruising with scarves or turtlenecks, there’s not a single picture anywhere of Jocelyn wearing either or with any bruising.” Casey certainly raised a brow at that, “We need to send someone to talk to her ex boyfriend, check out her apartment….I really don’t think she wrote this book.”
“And plagiarism helps our case how?”
“If Jocelyn didn’t write the book, then she doesn’t have these yearnings in the bedroom, which mean Cain jumped the gun, assuming she was super kinky, it means she really didn’t want it when he choked her out and forced himself on her.” Casey pondered over what you were saying, she knew you were smart, and your social media digs usually brought up more than the perp or victim could even imagine.
“Call Rollins…” She actually met your eye this time, “And Gerard…if you’re right…you can take the questioning period.” You smirked at that, she only let you take them when she had a feeling you were right. Plus you were still pissed about the whole Nikki thing, and were more than willing to take the opportunity to showboat, pissing her off even further
***** As it turned out, you were more than 100% right, a professor of Jocelyn’s at college had pen’d the book, wanting someone young and innocent to claim they wrote it to help with the sales, Jocelyn or course would lose the book deal and all of her money with it if she ever told the truth.
 The jury still seemed to be not convinced as Cain took the stand for the defence, he of course claimed that he had no idea, figuring that she was into that kind of thing, she’d slipped him her underwear at dinner and invited her up to her hotel room. All that seemed fairly consensual. When Rita turned to your table saying she had no more questions, she spotted the devilish grin on your face and she knew instantly she was about to lose.
“Mr Cain…do you normally choke out your sexual partners?” You began, moving closer to him, placing a gentle hand down on the barrister of the stand.
“Only if that’s what they’re into.” He replied, a feigned sense of innocence on his face.
“Really? Because we’ve gathered Ms Paley is not actually in to that kind of thing, yet…” Your hand moved out, turning on the t.v. to display the images of her darkly bruised neck, “She somehow came out of a night with you bruised this badly? Yet never in her life before had she been bruised, we all know how hard it can be to hide something like that with make up, a scarf is much easier, but she doesn’t seem to be a fan of those either.”
“She wanted it.”
“Are you sure?” You quirked a brow, “Or did you just lose control?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Tell me,” Both your hands were on the railing now as you store down Cain, “How’d the belt feel in your hand as you choked her out….where was the buckle?” You quirked a brow, you felt him tense, you pushed off the stand, keeping eye contact as you moved backwards.
“What? You want me to show you?” His voice was laced with hate, and he was playing right into your game. Your hand slid behind you, grabbing the a spare belt out of your bag, the smirk evident on your face.
”You know what…that sounds like a pretty good idea…” You moved the belt into his view, practically feeling Rita’s protests coming, yet she didn’t call for an objection. You laced it around your neck, “You know, leaving the buckle against someone’s spine isn’t exactly ideal…it can leave damage…” You slid a finger between the buckle and the back of your neck, tossing the length to Cain, “So…show me how you choked her..” He barely tugged on the belt, “Oh come on Cain, you can do better than that, show me exactly what your like Sir!”
 You felt the belt constrict in his rage against you, you were more than quick to flip around, managing to slide it off your neck and onto your wrist as he pulled it so tight it constricted the blood flow into your hand, his eyes glaring into yours. You’d expected that, you hadn’t expected him to lunge at you with his free hand, closing around your exposed throat, screaming obscenities at you as the court officers pulled him off you. Casey felt her heart jump, and a spark of…something.  You were barely phased, a smirk evident on your face as you took in the shaken faces of the jury, you dropped the belt from your wrist,
“The people rest Your Honour.
”**** Donnelly had taken a recess after the shenanigans in the courtroom had completed the trial, leaving it up to the jury, and Novak was quick to make sure that your next stop was her office, blazer’s shed, buttons undone buttons exposing more than inside the courtroom. Your arguing was so fast there was barely a moment for breath between your words,
“What the actual fuck were you thinking Gerard!?”
“Uh..maybe that there was a pretty high chance our case was going down the toilet, easily more than half that jury was on Cain’s side!”
“I SAID NO MORE SHOWBOATING!”
“AND WHAT IF IT WINS THE FUCKING CASE?!”
“You had the audacity to do that in front of all of my coworkers, you practically sandbagged your own team!! WHAT THE FUCK?!”
“I’M JUST TRYING TO MAKE SURE THE RIGHT PEOPLE GET FUCKING JUSTICE, FOR FUCK’S—“ You were cut off when the tension in the room shifted back from anger to sexual, Casey’s lips met yours in a fiery kiss, you practically melted against her. She caged you in her arms, pressing you against the wall of her office, a hand digging its way into your hair, tugging at the roots, causing you to moan against her mouth. Taking advantage she plunged her tongue into you, you whimpered, aching between your legs at actually being able to finally taste something that was so uniquely her.
As she rolled her hips against yours, you let out a breathy moan,
“Casey…” Fuck she nearly drenched herself at that, you’d submitted to her, and there was nothing fucking hotter than that. Her lips moved back to yours, she nipped at your bottom lip, pulling it away from your mouth as she gently walked backwards until her knees hit the couch, biting at your neck as she collapsed against it, pulling you down into her lap. You were quick to straddle her lap, fingers burying themselves into her hair, lips moving against each other like they were truly the only ones meant for each other. Your hips ground against each other, whimpers and groans filling the room.
You gasped away from her mouth, burying your head into her neck as her hand found its way up your skirt, cupping your heat.
“Yes baby girl?” She quirked a brow at your, slowly tantalizing you through your panties, letting her fingers graze gently against your most sensitive parts as you whined in her lap. “You know…you’ve been such a fucking brat today I don’t know if you deserve to cum.” You practically sobbed against her she spanked your ass, “I feel like I should spend the rest of the day making you as wet as fucking possible before I finally fuck the shit out of you tonight.”
Every single one of your senses were on fire as you ground against her hand, letting out an audible moan as she finally slipped a finger in, “Quiet…” Her lips met yours again, silencing your moans as her finger continued their torturous assault on your pussy. She could feel it clenching around her fingers, you about to come before she pulled it out, gaining eye contact with you as she sucked them clean
.“Can I please touch you?” You whispered into the room, Casey nodded, kissing you softly, letting you push her down onto the couch, moving against your body, her skin on fire, expectant on what was to come….until both your phones started going off. She groaned heavily while you loudly yelled ‘fuck’.
As it turned out, your little show in the courtroom had won over the jury and they were a little too fast to come back with a verdict. Casey and you promptly fixed your appearances before heading down to the courtroom, happy with the verdict, not so happy when Donnelly called both of you into her chambers.
“Listen…” She started, “I don’t know what’s going on with the two of you but Cragen’s been updating me on how much you’ve been fighting, and frankly I don’t give a shit. Figure out what’s going on in between the two of you and fight it out already, preferably off work property. You work fantastically together and in this department, I’d hate for whatever this is to screw that up.”
I dunno if you’re still doing requests, so feel free to pass! But I started reading your whole page and I’m a little bit in love with your characterization of 2k12 Leo, and I was wondering if you might write something about his dynamic with April? to be clear I do not mean shipping! I just think they’re interesting friends and it’s hard to find fics that do her justice without mary sue-ing her, and I liked seeing them interact in the show. Anyway have a good day!
this is set in 2012—but the turtles are all different ages, like they are in rottmnt, because i love it <3
x
The lair is silent when April lets herself in. The TV in the den is on, down low, but Casey is the only one in there and he’s not even watching it. He’s sitting on the outer lip of the pit, his feet in one of the seats, knee bouncing anxiously.
“Hey,” she calls over, unnecessarily. She thinks she’s had his attention since before she hopped the turnstiles. Running with a ninja clan has done wonders for Casey’s sense of awareness, and April’s, too. Still, she waits for him to look at her before she lifts the bags in her hands and says, “I got the food. Can you get the guys?”
“You think they’re really gonna eat?” Casey asks. There are shadows under his eyes.
“They will when I accidentally let them see the receipt,” April says, lifting her chin and refusing to feel guilty about the underhanded play. “Five Guys isn’t cheap. They owe it to me.”
Casey blinks, and then a smile creeps across his face. It looks like it doesn’t know what it’s doing there. “Nice. Divide and conquer? It’ll take me like three business days to extract Don from the lab, but Raph’ll be easy if I lie and tell him we’re going topside to beat down some Dragons.”
“Deal,” April says, bumping elbows with him as they pass each other.
The kitchen is dark, and there’s a thin layer of dust over the counter and the appliances. It feels wrong to disturb the room, almost like she’s upsetting a shrine—but she squashes that thought down hard and punts it out of her head for good measure. It’s not a memorial to anybody. It’s just a room they’re not really using right now.
He would want them to eat, April tells herself. The thought lends her courage, because she knows it’s the truth. So she sets the bags down, takes a deep breath, and moves down the hall to collect Leonardo.
She can hear the steady beeping of the EKG machine before she pushes open the bedroom door. Leo’s cool blue eyes meet hers from his vigil at the side of the bed, and he manages to scrape together a smile for her.
“Hi,” he says at length.
“Hi, Bossman,” she replies warmly, stepping inside.
They moved Mikey into his room so that he’d be more comfortable. Donnie spent a full day getting the equipment set up just right—a blank, mechanic way about him as he arranged the pillows and stuffed toys and blankets until he was satisfied.
It went unsaid that Mikey might be sleeping for a long while. He hit his head hard during that fight a week ago. He woke up once, very briefly, on the way home, but he wasn’t lucid enough to answer any of his siblings’ frantic questions. His muddy blue eyes skated across their faces, lingering as long as they could, and then closed again.
His brain activity is strong, his vitals are stable, he just isn’t waking up.
And poor Leo takes every instance of his brothers’ hurt so personally, but there’s something especially brutal about it when it’s Mikey. The baby. Fourteen years old, next to Leo’s crowning eighteen. Of course it’s hard. Raph and Donnie are miserable, too.
But the weight of Leo’s imagined failures press him down and down and down until April can’t remember what he looks like with his head held high. He really hates himself for it, every time.
He’s the leader. He’s the oldest. It’s his responsibility to look after the rest of them, and when he can’t—when he fails—it takes a little more from him each time. It chips away at that shining boy he used to be. April is worried, constantly, of what will happen when there’s no more for him to give.
She sits down next to him and puts her head on his shoulder. She hears his breathing hitch, but otherwise he doesn’t react. At times like these, she misses Splinter so badly it’s a real, physical ache in her chest. His kindness and wisdom is so sorely needed. His children hadn’t had a chance to outgrow him before he was ripped away—not even his eldest.
“Dinnertime,” April says, her voice a gentle, unyielding thing in the warmly-lit room.
“I’m not hungry,” Leo replies by rote. “Thank you, though.”
“I wasn’t asking, kiddo,” April says. This draws him up short. He turns to look at her so quickly that he dislodges her head from his shoulder. She doesn’t take it back, though; if anything, she digs her heels in.
She’s picking up a heavy mantle, but she can’t bear the thought of leaving it for someone else to find. Or worse, the thought of no one else coming along, and Leo continuing on the way he always has—carrying it alone.
She thought about it on the way over. She should’ve made this official much sooner.
“I’m not a kid,” Leo says slowly, more bewildered than anything.
“You’ll always be a kid to me.” April folds her arms in all her nineteen-year-old glory, officially the oldest teenager in the room. “And as your big sister, it’s my job to bully you into that kitchen and feed you an overpriced burger. We can do this the easy way or the hard way. Here’s a spoiler—the hard way is getting your big brother involved. And Casey’s version of asking politely is dragging you the whole way kicking and screaming. So what’ll it be?”
Leo’s eyes are wide and moonlike. He has no idea how to make sense of what he’s hearing. He’s never once been little-brothered by anybody. He hasn’t been the one taken care of since Splinter died.
He doesn’t seem to hate the idea.
But his eyes stray back to the bed like an act of gravity. “I don’t want to leave him,” Leo says quietly. “What if he wakes up by himself?”
“He won’t, dummy. ‘Cause I’ll be here,” April tells him. Of course she’ll be here. This is where her family lives.
And the whole family is home when Mikey finally wakes up a few days later. Raph’s hoarse voice shouts down the hall, and the rest of them sprint with ninja-grade intensity all the way to Mikey’s room, jostling each other at the door. Mikey looks groggy and disgruntled, and stretches his limbs out like he’s waking up from a halfway decent nap, but he smiles automatically when he sees his siblings. And just like that, the sun comes out.
Leo plants himself on the edge of the bed, and it would clearly take an act of god to move him. Donnie visibly resigns himself to working around him. That frightening, icy look in Donnie’s eyes has finally thawed back into that familiar blend of wicked cleverness and shy sweetness that his family so adores, and he keeps glancing up from the machines to catch Mikey’s eye like they’re telling a whole host of inside jokes in a secret, silent language. Raph and Casey are talking over each other, trying to catch Mikey up on everything he’s missed, more animated now than they’ve been in the last two weeks combined.
Mikey is still tired and not very talkative, but he soaks in all the attention like a little plant soaking up the sun. When April is able to muscle her way in, he beams up at her, and leans in to the kiss she plants on his forehead.
“Hey sis,” he croaks. He’s often a step ahead of the rest of them, but only those times when they least expect it. April has no idea what she’d do without him. “Thanks for keeping an eye on these jokers.”
“Of course, baby,” she says. She looks at Leo and adds, “That’s my job.”
Leo shakes his head, but he’s smiling. He’s holding his head a little bit higher than before. April will take it.
Something I've been thinking about for a few days is how, on Gregg's path, what he says to Mae after he saves her from Eide in the last part of the game suggests that he thought she went off to die or be killed in the woods, like he just averted a willing sacrifice / suicide attempt.
"Dude. Dude. You don't get to do this, okay. I don't get everything that's going on with you, and I'm not saying it's not happening. I believe you, okay? I do. But you don't get to die on me. You are not gonna do that to me, okay? [. . .] I am not gonna lose you. Okay? You can't make me lose you. Would you let me go like this? [. . .] And if we keep talking like this I'm gonna cry, and—"
He straight up tells Mae that she doesn't get to die on him, she doesn't get to make him lose her, "would you let me go like this." He clearly thought she went into the woods to die, and honestly . . . he's not entirely wrong. Mostly she went there to get answers, but if dying was what it took to get everything to stop and protect her friends, she was willing to do it. Mae was in a really bad headspace at that point in the game.
But I bring it up because while he successfully saves Mae, it's shortly after this that he learns that Casey did die. Casey didn't just skip town, Casey was kidnapped and thrown into a pit to feed an eldritch abomination by a cult of conservative uncles. (Note: said eldritch abomination might not actually exist.) Mae is Gregg's best friend, but Casey was his other best friend. Gregg loses his shit when he finds out what happened to Casey and if not for the fact that the cult had several guns on him and the others, he would have killed them all right then to avenge his friend.
So I'm just thinking about what the rest of that night must have been like for him. After they all escape, after they all get home. He's lying in Angus' arms, thinking about how Casey's dead, and how he came so close to losing Mae, too. That Mae went into the woods to die, that she would have had he not woken up and realized she was gone. That Eide grabbed her leg there at the end, tried to drag her back down to kill her, that Gregg and Bea managed to hang onto her and Angus managed to drop the elevator shaft but that it was so, so close. That Casey is dead and gone forever, and the same was so close to being true about Mae, too.
I imagine he just broke down sobbing and honestly, no one could blame him. Thank everything he has Angus. Thank everything they saved Mae. But I imagine he's in for a storm of down down days for a while, thinking about how close things were to going the other way.
OK AM GONNA ASK FOR ADORABLE HC of your peepaws if that's okay of course; the kids found they have a new sibling - draxam decided to pop a baby out/j - and this sibling is literally a baby like i don't know few months old?
How does the peepaws react to them?
Awww I can imagine Draxum thinking of creating a little turtle tot with the purpose of something for him to love rather than a purpose of human destruction after spending too much time with Mikey. Idk whose DNA he would use this time, but maybe he’ll just use some backup Lou Jitsu DNA he had or something. Always gotta have extras maybe?
But on that note, I think the peepaws would just be in complete awe. Like “so small” and all teary eyed and thinking that not even Casey Jr was this small as a baby.
DMD’s initial reaction would be to cry and promise to protect the tot at all costs. He’d carry the tot in the pocket of his aprons while cooking meals for the teens. Rub the tot over the pocket fabric to soothe the sweet little thing and practice his chirps. He’d more than likely keep the tot with him at all times as a possessive kind of way because such a small, fragile little one shouldn’t be left alone for even a second. The Hamato family do not like this because they don’t get a chance to coo and shower the tot in their affections. He would end up spending less time at Big Mama’s and would never dare bring the tot to work.
Reunion would talk a lot to the tot—and I mean a lot. The Hamatos would often find Reunion on his belly talking to the tot to sleep. Then someone would ruin the moment reminding him he has to go back to his timeline, and he would try to sneak the tot back to his timeline. But when he talks to the tot, he pets the little one’s head and share whatever’s on his mind—even things that are troubling him that no one else knows. That small little turtle probably knows secrets about the future that would endanger the world if they could share what they heard.
LCD would be very against even going near the tot. He’d think he’d smear the tot with the “blood” on his hands and thinks he doesn’t deserve to get to know the turtle tot. He’ll eventually meet the tot when little Leon tries to track him down only to get ambushed by some Hidden City crooks. His hands would shake as he holds the tot in the palms of his hands, frozen where he stands because he’s afraid of hurting the little one. And then he would quickly return the tot to little Leon and run away. From then on, LCD would stay within a closer perimeter to the teens when they visited the Hidden City with the turtle tot. —to make sure they’re all safe, of course, not because he wants to see more of the adorable little tot whose cheeks look so pinchable.
WDS would play the most with the tot. And the ghosty bros would very much bother WDS for not being a few steps away because they can’t see the tot without him. He’d be on the floor under the heat lamp with the tot, letting his body be a mountain or playground for the little one. His carapace would be a tough hill to climb or his fake snoring would be small quakes, his prosthetic hand is a freezing monster hand that would pick up the tot and “eat” them. The turtle tot would love to chirp at WDS who would chirp back and get laughed at by his ghosty bros for not doing it right. I can see the tot sleeping on WDS’s face after a hard day of play and that would render him unmoving for the rest of the day—eventually he would fall asleep too.
(Now I can’t get it out of my head… cute little turtle tot chirping and scurrying around the floors like a gremlin hahah)
Dolores - Part 1: Mission frogpossible
~Ethan, you’ll float too~
Book: Open Heart
Pairing: Ethan x F!MC
Rate: fluff (only the f-word)
Song: Closer (Lyrics) from Nine Inch Nails
Summary: Casey and Ethan go on a mission to find the stuffed frog for Dolores and her baby.
Soon, Casey and Ethan are in the staff lot, sliding into Ethan's luxury sedan. "Woa, this is a great car!" She says in awe, taking in the interior. "What did you expect, a rusted-out jalopy?" He asks sarcastic while putting his seatbelt on. "Well, it would kinda fit." She smiles. Damn that gorgeous smile plus her heavenly scent make him bolt. "What’s that supposed to mean?" Glad, he took the bait, she answers: "Like you, it would scare people off, just like you want it." He looks at her. "Do you say I look shabby or scary?" Is he offended? "No Dr. Ramsey, you don’t, but you are doing everything to push people away from you." "Is that though? Then why would I take you with me." "Not even you can resist my unique charm." If she knows how true that is. He smiles and shakes his head.
Both fall silent, but when it becomes to awkward, Casey asks: "So what's up with you and Dr. Emery?" He gives her a sharp look. Why? Why of people must she be the one to recognize it? Apart from not wanting anyone to know about his personal life, he feels the urge to tell her that there is no one in his life. When he doesn’t answer, she continues. "I saw you together earlier. It looked... intimate." His grip around the steering wheel tightens. "I don’t like advertising my private life at work." She is disappointed: does that mean there is a private life with Dr. Emery? "I'm just trying to figure out the politics of this place if i want to survive here." He side-eyes her. Touché, you clever girl. "In that case... we were an item. And then only on again, off again." "And now?" "Off. As of last year, she's my boss. Not that my personal life is any of your business." "My lips are sealed." "Good." They smile at each other a moment too long. They turn their gazes to the street again.
"So did Dr. Banerji really quit?" "I was wondering when you'd get around to asking that." "And? Did he?" "Yes." 'You stubborn little thing.' "But that’s huge! Did he say why he was leaving?" "That's between him and the chief." She rolls her eyes mentally. 'Boooh, how boring.' "So you are in charge of the diagnostics team now. That's gotta be a lot of pressure." 'You have no idea, Rookie.' "More than you can imagine. Naveen built that team from his own blood, sweat, and tears. I can’t let him down now that he's moved on" "Are you okay without him?" "I'm thirty-six years old. Yes, i will be fine without Dr. Banerji." "I just meant... he was your friend, right?... Your lifelong mentor." Before she eventually goes on, he speaks up. "And now he wants to go paint and play golf. I salute him. We're doctors, Rookie. We can only take so much. When the time comes to hang up the coat, we can’t turn that into another tragedy. We have enough of that already." By the time he ends his sentence, he turns his face to her, just to see her watching him with an intense gaze, he can’t read, of her emerald eyes. A few minutes of silence pass, when she says: "You know, I'm actually surprised you were up for this rescue mission." "You don’t think I want to spend my time searching for stuffed animals." He smiles and even if it is a teasing and sarcastic smile, it is so rare and infectious that she blushes. She turns her gaze to her hands in her lap. It makes him smile even more to see that he can have such an effect on her. "I thought you'd think it was pointless. I mean... it's just a stuffed frog, right?" She looks up at him again. He holds her gaze. "You think I'm some emotionless machine, don’t you?" Normally he would be happy to make this impression on any intern, but with her, it kind of hurts him and somehow he doesn’t want her to think like that about him. He looks at her and her breath hitches, his gaze is unreadable but yet she can’t shake the thought that he is not happy about the picture she might has of him. But why does he act so cold all the time, she thought that's what he wanted people to think of him. "Not entirely machine. Cyborg, maybe? Dr. Terminator?" "In that case, even a cyborg would cite the studies showing how emotional attachment can play significant roles in patients recovery."... he pauses to look at her again with a smile. "So not even I, 'Dr. Terminator', think it's just a toy." A breathless nervous chuckle escapes her under his piercing gaze, her traitorous heart jumps in her chest as if it wants to show the obvious. She thinks fast of her next words. "And Dolores is a friend." "She's a patient first, while she's in our care. But yes, she's also a friend. If a stuffed frog will help her get through this, then I'll find her that damn thing." He smiles again. 'Okay so not helpful', Casey thinks, when her heart almost jumps out of her chest at how engaged he is for his patients and friends. "I think you might be a softie at heart, Dr. Ramsey." 'Damn, what is it with her smile? And who turned the heater on?' "Far from it. I'm practical. And that's enough prying for now."
He turns on the music with a smile, but regrets it the moment the first notes hit him. ~help me, I’m broken from the inside...~ Fuck, he had forgotten that his nine inch nails playlist was still on. Her eyes widened, he moves to stop the music. "No! I love nine inch nails!" His heart beats hard in his chest. She does? She turns the volume up, singing along with the radio. God this is torture, why does it have to be this song? The lyrics form to a not so professional image of him and Dr. Valentine doing exactly that. ~I wanna fuck you like an animal. I wanna feel you from the inside~ His fantasy is interrupted by her question. "Have you ever seen them live?" Her smile is infectious. "No, i haven’t." "What? Oh you have to, you'll love it! Ok, when they do their next tour, i'll take you to one of their shows." He narrows his eyes at her, an amused and seductive sparkle in his eyes. "You'll do?" Her enthusiasm doesn’t crumble. "Yes, it will be amazing and I’m looking forward to see your eyes when you first see and hear them live." Her gaze finds his and he smiles gently at her, his heart doing strange things in his chest.
The busy noises of a fire and the people who try to stop the flames bring them back to reality. Both get out of the car watching the flames holding the building in a dangerous embrace.
"Do you think, we can help somehow?" On instinct she takes a few steps, but Ethan holds her arm. "No, Rookie, almost all paramedics are gone with the victims. There is nothing we can do other than trying to find the frog." He looks around. "We can search the perimeter, but if it fell out of her purse in there..." "Let's hope it didn't." They search for a while, when Ethan calls for her triumphantly. "Look, there in the storm drain!" He points at it, but it is out of reach. "Oh, hell no. I am not going down there. Haven’t you seen 'It'?" "Seen what?" He asks confused. 'Aaaawww, he is so clueless in these things, it’s cute.' She shakes her head slightly. "Never mind. We'll fish it out." "Good thinking." Ethan searches in his trunk for the first-aid-kit, where he finds a hook from a bent needle and ties it to a spool of stitching thread. "Cool, let's get this thing." She clutches to his arm on instinct. God, he can’t disappoint her, he have to get this damn frog. With knitted eyebrows he tries to catch it. "A little bit more to your left." "I know... I know." And it doesn't take him long to fish it out. "You got it." She squeaks happy, taking the frog and showing it to him, jumping a little in excitement. "You can give the good news to Dolores, when we get back." "After we sterilize this, of course."
When they are back in the car, he catches her as she smiles at the little frog, she clutches it in her hands, holding it so tight as if she was scared to lose it. Only that beautiful smile on her face was worth the trip.
If Future Casey somehow dies or has to leave the dimension (Idk, Renet comes along and is like 'you being here will be in the way of this version of Casey being born so lets go somewhere else where you two don't coexist). I can only imagine the tear fest when Cassandra gets baby Casey Jr and the Hamato Clan being instantly smitten with Leo and Cassandra arguing like a platonic divorced couple over how Casey is going to be raised.
Lol that’s hilarious
Leo probably’d feel like he should have a say for some reason, and she's confused because, it’s her baby??? What has Leo got to do with it??? And he doesn’t know how to explain to her it so he just throws up his hands in frustration.
While they’re busy arguing over in the other room, Mikey and Raph would be watching the baby. Mikey for some reason knows exactly what babies need, so he’s being a bit of a know-it-all, while Raph is just getting teary-eyed over holding Cass’ baby for the first time. He’s so small, and Raph’s afraid he might hurt him with his spikes, but Casey seems to enjoy napping in his big strong arms. They’re the perfect cradle.
I’m so confused about the ending of Life with Derek because Casey and Derek going to the same university seemed like the perfect way to end (easy to imagine/write about what happens next), but then in Vacation with Derek, Casey seems pretty excited about going to New York with Jesse and the ending of the movie made it seem like that’s what she chose to do? So does that mean Derek spent the first year at Queens alone? Dancing is Casey’s passion, but so is school! I guess it doesn’t matter if Derek is a sophomore and Casey is a freshman, but like it does. They’re supposed to experience and go through college together for the first time! What if Casey liked New York so much and became successful and gave up on Queens for a while to pursue this passion? There would be no Dasey in College. Kinda wish I hadn’t seen the movie because the whole New York and Jesse thing throws me off. I guess I can choose to ignore Vacation with Derek just like I will with Life with Luca.
Okay, so I totally get what you're saying. The truly amazing thing about TV shows is that they have to write an ending... And then sometimes they're given a movie. And now how to make it exciting...?
So we've got a TV show that leads Derek and Casey to university, and a movie that splits them apart because the Dasey is too strong. and while that SUCKS, it does give fanfic writers so much to work with!!! Does Casey go for a year and then come back (like in my college series)? Does Casey go and stay there; would Derek follow her after (like in another story I'm writing)? Or does Casey choose Queen's over NY (like ANOTHER story I'm writing)? THE POSSIBILITIES!!!
They HAVE to give Derek and Casey romantic interests because they're too hot and the sexual tension between them is too strong for them to remain single. Until the writers agree to let the Dasey happen, they need to write in obstacles.
And yeah, the movie isn't my favourite either, but you know what it did give us? It gave us Derek and Casey dancing and having fun... And that's pretty amazing, I gotta say.
