Bonus little details I like.
The cape itself is really just ceremonial - majority of the time he wouldn't be wearing it cause it'd get in the way.
Completely coincidental that his hair band matches with the sword- I honestly just chose purple cause I thought it'd would be a nice contrast to the Greens and Blues. I do however like the idea that either he intentionally chose it or was perhaps given it.
----
Originally it was going to just be a regular sword, idea that maybe it's the one he'd be given after to go in the empty scabbard he's wearing. But couldn't get it to look right from a side perspective.
Think it looks better this way.

The Revenge Of Two Hands One Mouth - O2 Academy Bristol (November 27, 2013) by Adam Gasson
After 11 years of not finding a single photo from this show, I found these yesterday! I can not begin to express what this means to me, I nearly cried and I couldn't sleep last night. I was still a rather new fan and this was my first time going to a show in the UK, the first show I went to see with a friend, and my first time meeting that friend, too. And these above photos are SO GOOD! Not much was preserved from this show at all, there was no recording allowed (no charcoal drawings either), and to my knowledge not even the full setlist for this specific show was preserved anywhere. So better late than never, but here's what I remember (with some help from these photos!) and the things I've puzzled back together:
If there was opening music or an opening act, i don't recall, but Russell entered the stage alone. It was dramatic and impactful, and it went quiet as he gave an intense stare into the audience and did a drawn out "ahhh" into the microphone. After a little moment of quiet, it turned out the microphone had been connected to a sequencer which now started repeating "ah ah ah ah ah ah". Suspense, excitement. Russell added: "Hold, hold, hold, hold". (...I was definitely freaking out.) While that started looping on top of the ah ah ah sequence, he made stop signs with his hand as we all listened. A few repeats passed. "I'm getting mixed signals, mixed signals - mixed, mixed, mixed signals".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
^ the only seconds of this show I recorded as I didn't yet know it wasn't allowed - security signed at me and I put the camera away. It was fine. (Here's a recording of it made during the US tour later that year - recording seemed to be less frowned upon at that point.)
I don't recall when Ron entered the stage at this show, whether it was during the song or after, but what a way to open! And what an amazing song choice!
The performance that left the biggest impression on me at this show though was Nicotina. It was a choice I didn't see coming, but also the way Russell sang it! Falsetto heaven. (Sadly not a single video is to be found of Nicotina from this tour. But for your falsetto heaven needs, I hope you can find a video of Here In Heaven that they also performed on this tour, because that will also kill you.)
As everyone here probably knows I am quite big on Bergman, which at the time was heavily promoted during the tours, and, the excerpts they played on this tour were different from what they played during Two Hands One Mouth! They played "I Am Ingmar Bergman", The Studio Commissary (my favourite song on Bergman), Limo Driver (but sang by Russell, and HOW!) and "Oh My God". (Here's a video of it from one of the American shows. It's extremely good. People who've been around for a while have seen me lose it over this video many times.)
The most unexpected song choice was probably Katherine Hepburn. Me and my friend had been joking for absolute months that we were going to see Sparks and they'd play Katherine Hepburn (as if that would ever happen, we were obsessed with that song though!). And here we were, and they were playing Katherine Hepburn right in front of our eyes. (What is reality.)
Falling In Love With Myself Again had me losing it over the organ sounds, always a fan of Ron on organ, and I LOVE that song. Russell sang a line in my direction (I died), and he managed to throw another line at me during Those Mysteries ...I died a few times that night. As you might expect. That was kind of the whole THOM/TROTHOM experience anyway. Lots of dying. But the variety of dying where you end up in heaven. (You're at a Sparks show after all.)
They wrote a song especially for this tour, which was not released but only ever played live: Revenge Of Two Hands One Mouth. What a thing to experience! A very dark song, but wonderful. (REVENGE! REVENGE REVENGE!)
At the end of the show Ron took a photo of Russell with the audience. I don't really remember that happening, but the photo exists and it really was not a thing they did often back then. We had been a good audience :)
Tumblr media
Here's all the songs that were probably played that night in random order:
Your Call's Very Important To Us. Please Hold., B.C., Good Morning, Here In Heaven, Academy Award Performance, Those Mysteries, Falling In Love With Myself Again, Big Boy, Nicotina, Popularity, This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us, excerpts from The Seduction Of Ingmar Bergman, Tryouts For The Human Race, Katherine Hepburn, Revenge Of Two Hands One Mouth. They likely also played The Number One Song in Heaven, When Do I Get To Sing 'My Way' and Suburban Homeboy. (I see mentions of How Are You Getting Home? and How Do I Get To Carnegie Hall? in setlists for this tour as well, which they very well might have played but I very sadly have zero memory of ever hearing those songs live.)
This tour had a real air of mystery, possibly even more so than Two Hands One Mouth, as the lack of existing footage definitely adds to it. But luckily some of it *is* out there, and I am so grateful for these photos :) On top of the songs I especially mentioned above, I would also advise people to look for recordings of Tryouts For The Human Race and Popularity from this tour, because the arrangements are probably not going to be the way you expect them to be. And as you might expect: B.C. is stunning live. (I could start a whole rant about Good Morning and Suburban Homeboy live but I think I sufficiently screamed about both in my personal notes on THOM the year prior.) Final note: I know Russell had some sort of dance move for Big Boy because me and another friend couldn't stop talking about it for months. I don't remember what he did, but both THOM and TROTHOM were wonderful for Russell dances <3

Goodness me, I've not been working on these for very long but here's all of what I've thought of within 2 days of thinking about them!! I basically started writing about them the moment I finished drawing "the fuck you brothers" post (9/24) (and today, 9/26) I totally have been thinking about them more after I wrote all this, so I will be continuing on with my hcs right here, under the cut :3 (keep in mind I have not yet played twst! If I get anything gravely wrong correct me!) (9/28, edit: I downloaded twst y'all...)
Both of the twins are autistic, just being on very different ends of er... intensity? Idk how to word that. I just mean that Floyd is someone who has trouble regulating his emotions and stims a lot. Jade doesn't stim as often, he probably would if he were infodumping about mushrooms/his terrariums or whatever else. I think I mean. That Jade suppressed his autistic tendencies by a lot to seem more like a gentleman, while Floyd doesn't really give much of a shit and probably doesn't even know he's autistic.
on that note they both have ADHD. AuDHD brothers.
Anyways as I way saying abt Floyd stimmies; He stims a LOT. Just, all the damn time. It gets so annoying for a lot of people and everyone knows he can't control it. His clingyness is also stimming, he's very touchy. A lot of stim toys don't actually help him but he does calm down significantly more when he's wearing headphones and listening to loud music. That's what stimulates him the most.
Jade only stims when excited, yeah I mentioned that. But did I mention he also stims a lot when stressed. In front of costumers, if he was stressed he might only fiddle with his fingers behind his back. But as soon as he gets away it's full body stimming time baby. Mans is not okay but he cannot let that mask slip!! (I forgot the word before, but I meant to say in my first dotpoint that jade is better at masking than Floyd!!)
Floyd mcr liker >_< (songs about depression and drugs to think about violence to!) Floyd also likes shit like "41 mins of roblox music" or any spongebob music. skull emoji.
Jade Laufey liker :33 (calm songs to think about violence to!)
Floyd likes dancing around in his room to music. Like really getting into it. Putting one song on loop and doing the same dance moves over and over again. (stimming) (oh my god I'm PROJECTING AGAIN stop....)
Jade likes drawing mushrooms. He's really good at drawing nature and when I say "good" I mean if you looked at it, you'd think it was a picture. Like abnormally good for someone who used to not even have paper available...
I saw this from a moot once on twitter I think, but they both (+ Azul) probably had a hard time adjusting to walking around everywhere instead of swimming when they first came onto land. And I think there was something about holding on to bars on stairs WAYY too tight because they feel so wobbly going up them. Same with like, escalators? and elevators? didn't fucking trust them. And they still don't sometimes... Adding onto this I think that they'd both get really frustrated at first with it. Like genuinely really upset; Floyd dramatically falling to the floor and flailing around on the verge of tears while Jade punches the ground over and over... They obviously got better at land things after a long while but for a bit they were just so. not okay LOL
I think for casual/home clothes they'd both be really into big fluffy jumpers. massive fucking huge fluffy shits. They'd be all over the texture and it would be so so texture /pos drooling emoji
I had a little thing that I thought of where I would give Floyd Heart shaped eye shines PLUS an extra smaller not heart eye shine. And giving Jade a square shaped shine with no extra shines. It just makes so much sense to me. Like I can't explain it very well but if you get it, you get me. Do you get me...
WHICH leads me to say then that when Floyd gets MAD he would have NO eye shines. Do you get me. I totally make sense right/. And Jade getting happy about anything even if it doesn't show on his face it would totally show in his eyes... Which also brings me back to something I wrote in my doodle notes with the pupils being like cats... OUGH I'M GOING INSANE DO I MAKE SENSE
another thing my twt moot said !! Floyd would hate necklaces/rings/other accessories and jewelry! It relates back to my point about Floyd hating the feeling of tight clothes, and things touching his skin too much. I feel like if he had say, a necklace on for like 0.1s he would rip it the fuck off, destroying the necklace in the process
Floyd: :3 (aggressive)
Floyd loving to squeeze people but hurting them is 90% of the time on purpose hurting and 10% accidental hurting and when it IS accidental he gets so upset about it. I like to think Floyd is the more emotional out of the two... just so many emotions in that boy. like he just !! wants to give you love !!! but he's so strong he breaks ur ribs !!!! many of ur ribs!! ur honestly surprised you haven't punctured a lung yet!!!
On that note they BOTH are extremely touch starved. Floyd would fucking LOVE it if someone were to lay down on top of him for hours he would feel so squished!! and warm and nice!! and comfy!
Jade on the other hand, LOVES holding hands. holding ONTO something holding onto someONE.
Jade is a gift giver (love language) I bet you can't guess what Floyd is
His love language is Physical touch. Yeah
Jade getting people way too many gifts when it's a special occasion for them because he thinks they might think it's weird if he gets them a gift on any other day.
Floyd hyperpop liker (just overall really likes loud thrashy music or whatever)
Floyd also really got into those games where you have to beat the shit out of a dummy. He doesn't like ones where you have to TIME a hit to make it work (makes him annoyed bc he can't do it) Games like Pou I think....
While Jade enjoys colour by number or those hue games? just doing it in his free time.

8, 14, and 64!! (If any of these have been picked then pick the ones you want to be asked :) )
YAY thank you, friend!! I've answered a couple of these so I'll pick some fun ones for you. 💕
10. Cltr+f "blinks" on your WIP & copy paste the first sentence/paragraph that comes up Ed blinks and rapidly scrolls up and down the page. That can’t be it. A studio doesn’t just fucking cancel someone that successful. Ed had reviewed all the film grosses, both domestic and international; the numbers were there. And Ed saw the way the man danced; Stede was a phenomenon on his feet. And HB Low just let him fucking get away? Were they absolutely insane?
14. how do you write emotional scenes? Do you ever feel what the characters feel? Do you draw from personal experiences? I rely a lot on music to get me in the right headspace. My go-to song, because I feel it gets into ALL the big Ed/Stede emotions for nearly every situation, is The Story. I will literally listen to every version I have on it on loop for however long it takes while thinking about whatever situation the characters are in and then go. I do sometimes draw from personal experience, but alas, I haven't had a Great Big Love like Ed and Stede, so when it calls for that, it's mostly just the power of imagination.
11. Link your three five favorite fics right now I haven't had as much time as I'd like to be reading, but a few that are lingering on my brain right now!
2 Fluff 2 Furrious by @monksofthescrew: the sequel to the PHENOMENAL Fluff. Summary: In which Ed and Stede and their (!) ten (!!) dogs take an unhinged and perhaps ill-advised roadtrip in a dog bus. It's cute. It's emotional. It's Ed and Stede stupidly in love with SO MANY CUTE DOGS. And it's an absolutely impeccable Ed voice. WIP, just one chapter for now, but I've read the next and it's SO GOOD.
Moment of Truth by @trans-top-stede and karawrites: It's the most gloriously frustrating time loop; set during 2x06, Ed and Stede can't come until they learn how to fucking TALK TO EACH OTHER!!!!! I'm a few chapters behind and I am very excited to catch up this weekend, but oh my god, the EMOTIONS and the SEX it's all so good.
The Incident at Direfold Manor by @helloimjennsco: GOOD SPOOKY HORROR. It's the kind of uncomfortable feeling, something lurking in the shadows watching you vibe and it's SO UNSETTLING I LOVE IT AND AM SO CURIOUS TO SEE WHERE IT GOES. Still a WIP, and this is one I'm REALLY glad to be reading as it posts because the twisty turnies are so tasty.
The Tolling Bells by @edsbacktattoo: Recently completed, absolutely gorgeous fic with a unique premise that feels all the more poignant after the cancellation. I just keep thinking about how there is NO POSSIBLE UNIVERSE THAT EXISTS, real or fictional, where Ed and Stede DON'T find each other and fall in love, and how lucky we are to get to witness that. Good shit.
I Spit on Your Grave by @epersonae: A complete one shot! I have accepted this fic as canon now. The conversation Ed and Stede have is one I was really craving in S2, and this version of it scratches that itch perfectly. And because it's epersonae, you know it's some really beautiful, emotional, evocative writing.
Get to know the fic writer ask game!

SILLY ART!! I was playing some Beat Saber yesterday and was listening to some Femtanyl when I thought of this pose for Silly! This art obviously was inspired from the song "PUSH UR T3MPRR" by Femtanyl. Very good music imo, it has Silly vibes to me. This may be a surprise to most, but I actually REALLY enjoy anatomy, I love drawing it, it's very fun. Which is why I wanna do more full body drawings! You may have noticed that I've been doing a lot more different stuff with camera zooms, full body drawings and all that. And I'm finding the whole process to be A LOT more fun than I expected! I'm surprised at that, but also relieved that it's not as bad as I expected. I'm still struggling when it comes to posing arms. But I think this artwork threw me out of that comfort zone and got me to draw a pose that I don't think 2022 me would even DREAM of drawing- and that says a lot cuz I think I found myself falling into a comfort zone and I sorta stopped experimenting with posing. BUT THAT CHANGES. I'M PUSHING THE LIMITS OF MY ARTSTYLE CUZ WHY NOT.
---
Anyways, back to Silly. I felt like giving her a belt with belt loops for this drawing since I think they'd look cool on her :]. Don't worry, this isn't a design change, just an alternative option for clothing in a sense. I also thought it would fit the vibe of this drawing. That being a sorta Too Many Misadventures video game. I have already dabbled in the idea of a TMM video game in the past and felt like doing it again here. It made me think of this being a character select screen for a level. I can also see Silly's levels being the most chaotic/difficult. It's no surprise really, since this is Silly we're talking about, and she's a pretty chaotic coyote, so it makes sense her levels would be face paced, fun, but also difficult. Also I think I should bring up the knife she has, it was also seen on the art 'Silly's FUN Adventure HD". I know it seemed like something I shouldn't have hidden, but I did, mainly cuz I couldn't think of a design. But this is their way to get to different realms! It's a knife capable of cutting a thin line in the air that can open a portal up to different realms. I gave it a little design update too. So don't think Silly owns multiple, she only has one. And lemme tell ya, she protects that item with her LIFE. If that ends up lost or stolen. It's the end of the world for Bex, Silly and Stacy. (not literally the end of the world, but they wouldn't be able to return home and such if you get me)
---
Might aswell also share a fun fact about Silly; she's afraid of ghosts! Mainly spirits that would possess an object like a doll. That's thanks to her watching something like Annabelle in the early hours of the morning. 10/10 thinking Silly, just as good as the times realm adventures goes wrong and she DEFINITELY had a Plan B thought up of.

Alright, I've been compiling my thoughts about the most recent OnlyOneOf comeback, "dOpamine" from the album Things I Can't Say LOve for a few days now, since it came out 2024/01/10 (it was still the 9th my time, but still). I've got pages of notes, and I'm getting ready to start (the essay will be a different post).
I wanted to start though with some fun observations about "dOpamine" as an MV and how it's doing so far in the grand scheme of things.
Upcoming Posts: thoughts on the MV/album description, individual song posts, breakdown of themes in the album and how it connects to narrative of queer love/desire/acceptance
(Even if this isn't the essay yet, it did get long, so putting it behind a cut for the sake of the tag.)
"dOpamine" is effectively a performance video with some drama shots, and this is something that has been peppered through OnlyOneOf's MVs from the start, with "time leap" which "dOpamine" definitely visually calls back to. Other examples include "chrOme arts/hearts" (discussed further below), "zurui onna," "suit dance," and to some extent "gaslighting" and "dOra maar" (which never got an MV but has a dance/performance). I know that I was hoping for a story driven MV, and I still have some hope that we might get a second MV for this mini album that might give us that, but I've also accepted that this is a performance MV.
youtube
[Warning for flashing lights in "chrOme arts" if you've not already watched it]
Of their recent MVs this probably aligns the most with "chrOme arts" in terms of what the MV is doing. It's set in a relatively empty warehouse, there's queer lighting, it's dance focused. Unlike with "chrOme arts" where there's a few distinctive moments of touch in the dance and MV, in "dOpamine" they entirely are dancing independently. This is intriguing especially in context of the initial video teaser to "things I can't say lOve" that has several of the members touching Yoojung in a very queer desire sort of way.
youtube
Where "chrOme arts" has bisexual mood lighting, "dOpamine" has it's laser light show during parts of the dancing that is in the colors of the MLM/gay flag:
Tumblr media
(You can see more on stripe meanings here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:New_Gay_Pride_Flag.svg)
This jumped out at me on very first watch, and I know that I mentioned it at the time, but I found it really striking. For all that we have that bare warehouse vibes, and no touching in the MV. With the lighting and the dancing and the lyrics and the album description, it's still a very queer MV.
I do love that this MV has some really strong parallels to "time leap" in terms of presentation and setting because it's interesting to see that feeling almost of going back to the start but knowing more, being more prepared now. This is something that has been talked about a bunch in their songs and narratives, so I'm really interested to see if it will tie in to more of what they do in the upcoming weeks and months. Especially since they have talked about having had a long arc of work planned out from debut (which yes we know did get a little derailed/changed after libidO era, but did include libidO), and I wonder if this feeling of looping back to "time leap" with the narrative of queerness and then moving forward through that is something that was planned long ago. I have a lot of connections back to previous songs and MVs that I noticed as I was doing my more in depth examination of the album, so I'm having some feelings about this connection. Also, give "time leap" a little bit of love:
youtube
Something that is exciting for me with respect to how this song and MV are performing is that "dOpamine" is drawing far more attention than any of their previous performance style MVs have. It's at over 1M views on YouTube after only 4 days, and while I don't have strong feelings about YouTube views in the grand scheme of things, it's interesting in the context that a lot of the performance MVs have never broken 1M no matter how good/loved the song is among lyOn. I think that it's really telling how much undergrOund idOl and their tour and just the past few years have grown their fandom and name recognition that a performance MV without their incredible storytelling is doing this well for them.

🥐🌵🍓🍬🎱 -> any or all for your enrichment!!
All of this got long so under the cut to save people from scrolling it goes-
🥐 ⇢ name one internet reference that will always make you laugh
Not a reference (I don't think. I'll be real, I don't think I understand this question) but I sure do like that twink on tiktok what does the cooking
🌵 ⇢ share the link to a playlist you love
Please enjoy this nostalgia playlist of songs that have made me go 'how do I remember the fucking words to this' which I have appropriately named after a Celine Dion song.
There are two Celine Dion songs.
Toni Braxton is on it. So are The Cranberries.
The only two dudes to make the list are Boyz II Men and that guy from Sixpence None the Richer
🍬 ⇢ post an unpopular opinion about a popular fandom character
Questions about unpopular fandom opinions always throw me for a loop. I'll go with saying that season 1 Jamie has more emotional maturity than people give him credit for, especially in regards to him and Keeley's breakup.
🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction?
After spending most of my life daydreaming elaborate scenarios, I tried to write some of them down when I was like twelve.
They sucked so I went back to drawing fanart, which I was getting pretty good at.
Then when I was 15 I started writing some of them down again. They were pretty good, but wildly disconnected from canon in many cases. I would write down bits, discuss them with friends (who were writers writing things), and then go back to doing other things (mostly art). I still have some of those somewhere, I think.
Then when I was 20, an art major, I started to realize that fuck man, I sure do need something to do that isn't more fucking art. At that point, I had a pretty good idea for writing voice and structure, as I'd been voraciously reading fic for a decade. I wrote some things. It was fun. I went back to doing art.
Then in 2015 a friend and I went and saw this movie, The Man From UNCLE, and it was really really good. Between the two of us, she was more of the writer, but as we spun up a whole sequel/story together she asked if I wanted to write any of it. I said yes. She would write the first draft and I would fill out other scenes, and both of us would workshop and storyboard and bits we got stuck on. Occasionally I would add in entire sections of scenes to flesh things out.
2016, same friend and I start doing another co-writing thing but this time for The Musketeers (BBC show). This time there was a difference- instead of friend writing scenes and me adding bits, there would be entire scenes I'd write and then she'd come back in and edit/add bits.
Then some real life stuff happened and I stopped writing.
Then I briefly got into batman and wrote some stuff there, but never finished or published it.
Then I briefly got into OFMD and wrote some stuff there, but never finished or published it.
Then last year I got into Ted Lasso because of some amazing fic and in the lead up to season 3 airing I was like 'I sort of....want to write something?' And I wrote some stuff. Then, emboldened by everyone else posting things I figured- hey! What if I actually wrote something, finished it, and published it!
So to answer your question: I've always been here, but in a very real way my answer is 'last year.'

the heavenly yard blog infomine, part 4: Finishing Servant of Evil, Yet More Karaoke News, CDs, and Con-chi-ta!
Still slowly reading through mothy's blog. It's pretty entertaining, but here's me paraphrasing and summarizing under the cut. Apologies for typos and other errors etc etc
1 February 2009 ~ 29 April 2009
---February 2009---
1st
-FINALLY Servant of Evil has been released on Karaoke. Mothy hasn't sung it yet, nor has he been to karaoke in a while, but he might soon.
-Luka songs are on NicoNico now. mothy waffles a bit on whether he's going to buy her (but we all know he does). -more comment replies. Tidbits are: "P" (as in, "AkunoP") is already an honorific, meaning "producer", so "P-san" is a double honorific. Already at this stage he's becoming interested in derivative VOCALOID works like novels and manga.
-Daughter of Evil is unique in that it's one of the few works mothy has made where it remained roughly consistent throughout. Apparently with most of mothy's work, the finished product will deviate heavily from his initial concepts. Also, he encourages a commenter to be cautious of singing one of his songs in the original key because it's too high.
2nd
-just as he did for Daughter of Evil, mothy recruited illustrators on Piapro to help with the Servant of Evil PV. This time he decided to leave the recruitment field open long enough for someone other than Ichika to get involved (2 weeks). He was very nervous that no one would draw for the song.
-mothy shares the description text that he had for it at the time, and then says that this illustration recruitment was the turning point for everything afterward…
5th
-mothy teases the MEIKO song he's working on (Conchita). He's not sure if he'll upload it due to the lyrical content and the nature of the melody.
-he responds to some comments, most of whom I won't summarize for reasons I've stated in previous infomines. He gives Servant of Evil's tempo as 120. Recommends "JounetsuP"'s arrangement of Servant of Evil to someone.
-It sounds like JOYSOUND made the chorus of Servant of Evil lower than the original (which makes sense as the original was "VOCALOID high" and difficult for humans to sing). Daughter of Evil and Regret Message haven't come out for karaoke yet.
7th
-mothy checked Piapro the next day after uploading Servant of Evil and was amazed to see that he already had some illustration sketches on the "Servant of Evil" tag for him.
-Though he was excited at the time, he then ominously hints that things took a sour turn after that…
11th
-He announces Daughter of Evil will be on Joysound March 1st.
-mothy goes into the MEIKO song a bit more, while also answering comments. Unsurprisingly, he clarifies that it's not R-rated for sexual content but rather gore and grotesquery (not that his previous songs didn't have gruesome bits).
-He's been to Obihiro in Hokkaido once for work, and notes the food was tasty and the weather was cold.
-He shares an old (out of date) NicoNico playlist of his favorite fan PVs and parody songs (the link still works: https://www.nicovideo.jp/user/907343/mylist/8461466).
-mothy apparently tends to raise his Rin's GEN a lot. Also he DOES have an account on Utasuki (the JOYSOUND karaoke website)
-Has a crappy old phone. Piapro's app doesn't work on it.
15th
-again on the Servant of Evil saga. mothy was absolutely stunned at how many illustrations he was getting considering his relative anonymity at the time. He figures that the illustrators attracted attention to the song, which prompted more illustrations, and so on in a feedback loop.
-This was great, but it also dramatically increased the pressure on him, making him nervous.
18th
-Regret Message is going to be on JOYSOUND March 8th. Dwango is also apparently distributing a Daughter of Evil phone ringtone.
-Comment replies (many of them seem to be about the JOYSOUND karaoke). Clockwork Lullaby 1 is mothy's personal favorite song. mothy claims he's omitting some things in his discussions of how Servant and Daughter got made to avoid revealing some of his idiocy.
-Someone asks his thoughts on VOCALOID in general and he says he just views them as singing software. For him VOCALOID is just a matter of song composing, and he notes that he views it as being able to do things that human singers can't (ex, Daughter and Servant are 100% not written for human singers to be able to sing the notes).
-Someone asks him to explain the stage adaptation of Daughter of Evil. He posts "…???".
-He also describes himself as being timid.
21st
-Back to Servant of Evil. mothy talks about something he calls the "4th week of April Rebellion" where a lot of famous producers were uploading a lot of videos on NicoNico, just to give some context.
-he had so many illustrations submitted for the song that he wasn't sure he could use all of them. Meanwhile, Daughter of Evil was getting some attention thanks to Servant of Evil--it sounds like there was a tiny bit of squabbling over people spoiling Servant of Evil in its comment section. He also got a comment jokingly suggesting they make him "It's snack timeP"
26th
-There is apparently some alterations to JOYSOUND's selection process. SouthNorthStory will get in, but he's not sure about the others. It might take longer.
-He hints at an announcement on the 28th, since it will be the anniversary of his first song release.
-He responds to some comments. mothy expresses a preference to being ignored by the public at large, and that generally when making songs he tends to make the concepts of the song, then the music, then the lyrics.
27th
-more on Servant of Evil, or rather the development of mothy's producer name, which goes through a few silly iterations before finally landing on "Akuno" on the whim of the comment section.
28th
-In celebration of 10 Minute Love's 1 year anniversary, mothy is planning to release a CD for VOCALOID MASTER 8.
---March 2009---
3rd
-SouthNorthStory has been selected on JOYSOUND. The rest they'll have to start over from scratch. Mothy also intends to release his next song (Conchita) soon, giving a minor content warning for it (it's just really funny that he was so insecure about how dark it was considering where the series goes from here)
-Answers some comments, discussing CD logistics. Mothy is also extremely grateful that he's become so successful after only one year, and hopes to make the CD really good in honor of that.
4th
-Conchita upload.
5th
Page 1
-More on Conchita! The song's done well so far. He speculates it's the most up-tempo song he's ever made, and also thanks Ichika for doing the illustrations (he made the video though).
-Apparently he actually toned down the lyrics from when he first started working on the song, always wanting to make sure he avoids anything outright cruel or greusome in the lyrics so it's "safe" to listen to, in a sense. On a similar note, he's never actually used the words "kill" or "die" in anything yet.
-He's had the idea for the "Evil Food Eater" for a long time--it was one of the song ideas he had as the next one after Daughter of Evil (before he made Servant), and originally it was going to be sung by Rin since that was all he had at the time and OH MY GOD he tells the story about Conchita originally having been a monster that flys off into space to eat a meteorite heading for earth (the one he told in that Waltz interview). oh my god.
-anyway yeah obviously some things have changed since then.
Page 2
-Mostly replying to comments on the Conchita video. Expresses plans to use Gackpo one day. Clarifies that the servant in Conchita's song is not related to the Servant of Evil.
7th
-the illustration recruitment for servant of evil came to a close with near 50 illustrations. it was with a heavy heart that he had to cut some of the illustrations, being more selective about which ones he wanted to use for which scenes.
-though he used Windows Movie Maker (and something called Nive? I can't find any results online, I guess that's another free software of some kind?), the limitations of the software made him start wanting to buy a commercial one to use instead.
-finally he had the video finished, and was grateful for all the illustrations. He shares a (now defunct) link to where all the submitted illustrations were posted.
-But something happened before he could upload.
16th
-Servant, Conchita, and Garden Girl have made it into the hall of fame.
20th
-He's been busy lately, but he announces that MikuMoba is releasing a Daughter of Evil thing (a dress up game? I think? I don't really know what MikuMoba is, only that it's a mobile phone thing because mothy's isn't compatible).
-also answering some questions about the upcoming CD thing.
23rd
-Servant of Evil gets one million views! it's very exciting
-in replying to a comment, mothy reveals he's never really studied musical arrangement properly, so he'll sometimes make mistakes he doesn't notice until after the video is made. Don't 100% understand the comment, uses some musical terms I don't understand even in English.
26th
-mothy comically relates his hesitancy to upload Servant of Evil as the rush of famous uploaders uploading songs came to a close (eventually deciding he wasn't famous enough for it to relate to him in any way), and then on April 29th he finally uploaded Servant of Evil.
---April 2009---
5th
-mothy headed off to work after uploading Servant of Evil with optimism that it would do well. when he got back, he saw to his utter shock that not only was it ranked 1st in the music rankings, but it was also ranked 4th in general NicoNico uploads as well. This threw him so much he went out to buy some beer.
12th
-more on the CD--he'll be selling it alongside uniMemoP under the circle "Akuyurin". This is also combined with the circle "twinkledisc" by SignalP, with RyuuseiP planned to participate. He confirms some other misc. details about its selling.
-This is the "Evils Theater" CD
18th
-mothy was overwhelmed with how popular Servant of Evil was, making Daughter of Evil look modest in comparison. Of particular note is that, while Daughter of Evil dropped out of the rankings the next day after its upload, Servant of Evil did not. And even though its momentum started to fade as the week wore on, people were now doing covers of his songs and making their own fan PVs (one dropped on May 4th, not even a full week after the original PV upload).
25th
-mothy announces he's going to have some songs in the collaboration with Asami Shimoda (the CD called Prism, I believe). Also that he's got an interview in the "Let's Enjoy Vocaloid Vol. 2" book/magazine by Yamaha, mainly about Daughter and Servant of Evil.
-And the Daughter and Servant of Evil ringtones are available.
29th
-It's the 1 year anniversary of his Servant of Evil upload. Many things have happened since then, though mothy doesn't feel like much of what he does has changed other than becoming busier. He still has a lot he wants to make, it's not like he's doing it for a career (wah wah…)
-And thus concludes mothy's commentary on the making of Servant of Evil. He admits he's given a sanitized version of events, it wasn't all good things and there were some negative comments.
-Also he's saying up front he's not gonna do a breakdown of Regret Message getting made.

Oh gosh, sorry to hear you’ve been getting lots of critiques recently. Even when it’s valid and solicited criticism can be rough, and the out of the blue stuff is always worse :/ And I say that as someone who works in the arts for a living.
I wish I had something better to say than that every artist you admire has likely felt the same way at one point or another, as even the best of the best of the best get complaints, but I don’t, so know at least that you’re in good company. (In theatre we actually have a saying that the day you can truly call yourself a professional is the day you get your first really bad review, so I always take comfort in the universality of the experience, even if it super fucking sucks lol)
I know I could also tell you that your writing is phenomenal and for every person who has a complaint there’s a bunch more who are having the BEST time (myself included xD), but I also know that doesn’t fix it when someone’s made you doubt yourself. For the record though, I will say it. Your writing IS phenomenal, and it DOES bring both me and others quite a lot of joy. I get very excited every time I see you’ve updated (either fic that I’m reading xD), and I find it genuinely a bonus that this particular story is so long. Because it means that the experience of reading it for the first time doesn’t have to be over yet.
I’m VERY much rambling now, but try and be kind to yourself is I guess at the heart of what I’m saying. Take care of yourself, take your time, and come back to things when you’re ready. You’re allowed to feel hurt, or doubtful, or whatever, and if time is what you need to take care of yourself, then you should take it <3.
To be honest, I would be genuinely surprised if I was somehow able to avoid getting criticism. It's just a natural part of posting online, it would seem, no matter one's skill level or the fandom.
And, usually, I can handle it pretty well. It just so happens that everything piled up on the same day and that got a little overwhelming. It honestly felt a bit like the universe was ganging up on me for no apparent reason xD
Thank you so much for your kind words, though 💜 It's true that there are no immediate fixes to the kind of doubts that arise from unsolicited criticism, but it certainly helps to know that there are people who enjoy what I do. Because, in the long run, it's not about writing the most perfect, flawless fic, but rather sharing the joy and excitement I feel over the stories that I write. So thank you so much for taking the time to tell me 💜
And yeah, I'm doing my best to rest right now, partly because I did end up getting sick. So I've mostly been drawing highly questionable Strangers From Hell fanart and, earlier today, I hyper-fixated for hours and randomly did a playlist for Who Holds the Devil. Which is VERY unexpected since I don't really connect music to my writing?
I blame @sofapup17 who made a wonderful playlist for my Strangers From Hell fanfic, which I've been looping while drawing the aforementioned fanart xD (and I also stole three songs from it to my own playlist ;D ) And that of course made me wonder if I could do one, too. Turns out that I can! It's hella long but, uh, that's both on-brand and appropriate considering the fanfic, I guess? I honestly didn't expect to find as much music as I did.
So yeah. While I'm not writing on Who Holds the Devil right now, I'm keeping busy with other creative projects. There never seems to be a shortage of those, somehow x'D
Thank you again for your kind words. The fact that so many people are willing to take time out of their day to cheer me up is so incredibly humbling. Thank you 💜

finally the tart lore (Creatures? Mission Control? idk the title honestly)
@yuraslefttoe
The 'story' starts with Privateer, where Europa sings about someone getting picked for a space mission-- I originally assumed they were the one picked but NO!! It's Andrei!! Who I believe is their lover, and their relationship had a huge falling out because Europa saw him living orbit as a suicide mission.
Draw 5 is when the story picks up, where Andrei discovers alien life on the spaceship and tries to communicate with it, but can't because it exists on another wavelength. He chases it down until he realizes its been killing off other members of the crew, and then panics looking for an escape pod to get away from the deathtrap.
The next song would be Theory of I, where Andrei does successfully make it into the pod, but has no guarantied way to get back to Earth. "The last word out of my mouth seems to be Sorry" is a direct connection to Privateer, which is what clued me into the two being the couple that breaks up at the start. "Spinning out of your orbit as I fall into the surface" makes me think that Andrei knows that even if he did make it back to Earth, he would surely die in a crash landing. "(I know) The reason why it always fails at the worst of times" seems to imply space farers dying spontaneously is a recurring thing, and likely why Europa knew this would lead to his death. The most interesting line though:
Hey Ground, can you believe this? That there's nothing here but Demons?
The thing that attacked the ship is paranormal in nature, and knowing that he is going to die regardless, Andrei makes a pact with it-- shown by the glitched out hand. His goal in this is to carry his voice back to Earth, both to communicate the danger but also to attempt to reconnect with Europa since his guilt over what happens makes it impossible to let go. Literally becoming "Ghostly Static", his body is dead but his mind is carried through waves.
Oh and that Demon? It's Misha. Misha is not a human.
Kerosene is his perspective on the murder spree happening on either Andrei's ship, or just any of the ones that have come in contact with him over the years. While I've figured that part out, the lyrics themselves allude me... who is he singing to? When has he ever saved anyone? Is it in reference to Andrei becoming static? Overall I would say Misha is very much an Enigma...
SPEAKING OF!!! The song Enigma seems to be about Misha being stuck in a time loop, specifically that the song itself is a time loop because every time it replays everything starts all over again. He doesn't mind this though, he relishes in being able to exist for three minutes and then do it all over again because otherwise he would be dead. In fact, I think Enigma is more about establishing each song as its own time loop. Which is part of why when Kerosene happens doesn't really matter, just that its about Misha enacting violence against spacemen-- heck, each time you listen it could be another ship, another repeat of the same war crimes, where time and place doesn't matter.
And umm, honestly, I don't really know if Maya plays any big roles in all of this. She's just around, somewhere, having a good time killing people.

Tag 9 people you want to get to know better! Tagged by @rinzukodas <3
Currently reading:
i just finished re-reading Ronja Robber's Daughter by Astrid Lindgren! It's such a comfort book and it was an easy read after a long time of uh, not reading a lot. I'm also picking away at a book about the ACT therapy method that my mom got me, which has been pretty interesting!
Last song:
The last song I listen-listened to and not just background noise was me looping Through The Eyes Of A Child by AURORA for Alphie fic writing purposes. Really, all of AURORA's work is incredible and I highly recommend it for that fairytale melancholy whimsy!!!
Currently watching:
Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 weekly (pain pain pain), as well as Zom 100. I also watched all of OPLA in two sittings, which for a person who did not click with the OP anime or the manga is pretty funny. I loved it, btw, and I've been pretty brainrotted over it since :3c
Current fic:
That *I* read? A Joui4 fic (Gintama) that always makes me inspired to push the boundaries of my own writing. Writing? Alphie fic BAYBEEEEEE I've been chipping at chapter 2 here have an excerpt -- "For a brief, blissful moment upon waking Alphinaud stares up at the ceiling, blinking blearily and wondering why the dark cast over the room won’t lift — Ul’dah has had a few days of bad weather before, sure, but nothing like this. Did he for some reason draw the curtains last night? And why is it so cold —
Between one breath and the next, all the air is driven out of his lungs in one fell swoop."
Next on my Watchlist:
Unknown! My little brother and I have started watching movies weekly together over discord to try and hang out despite the distance between us and it's his choice this week. Most likely a movie I never would have personally chosen but will enjoy simply because we watch it together.
Current Obsession:
Monster pipeline punch, how I wish I could quit you. Also OPLA, again, super funny. Seike. Seike & Alphinaud & trauma. Frontlines PVP, which I am middling at. Walking tiger paths in my neighborhood (a tiger path is a bend of the road or detour where you haven't walked before, for the purpose of keeping the brain-tiger enriched and happy). That one edit of Perfect Alexander --
Tagging: making eyes at anyone who reads this bc i honestly love to read these

Just got fully caught up with Your Turn to Die. Thoughts under the cut!
Fucking loved it.
I first gave this game a shot two years ago and while I enjoyed it quite a bit, I found myself bouncing off because I wasn't a huge fan of the point-and-click adventure style puzzle solving.
Fast forward to today and holy shit am I glad I stuck with it. The shift in gameplay styles in each chapter is super novel and I had a ton of fun adapting to each of them. While I think the minigames could use some work (saving Gin from the cage and a few of the chapter 2 attractions were kind of awful), the overall gameplay loop is a lot of fun.
I think most of my grievances with the gameplay are because it's being made in RPGMaker MV. It's an engine issue - not much you could do about that at this point. Later chapters fix a lot of these issues by using the game's strengths (analysis, puzzle-solving, character knowledge) a lot more often than just "click on this thing before a timer runs out!"
Some of the logic during debates can be a little strange, too. A few times in the first two chapters I found myself getting really frustrated because, while I was technically finding potential arguments and item-statement matchups, they weren't the ones that the game wanted, so it counted them as incorrect. Also, not being able to draw statements out of characters without lowering the timer in the Gin/Q-taro minigame kinda sucked. However, I had none of these issues during the chapter 2 main game and the chapter 3 banquet, so overall the game improved on that front quite a bit.
Music isn't great, but it's one dude doing his best with garageband loops. At the very least, each song fits its respective moment super well. I'd love to see this game with an original soundtrack, though...
The art is great. Character portraits are super dynamic, character designs are super solid and memorable, and the backgrounds look absolutely fantastic. There are a few awkward character portraits (Q-taro and Gin's can be a little strange sometimes), but those are nitpicks. Game looks great.
The characters and story... hoo boy, where do I even start? I don't dislike a single character in this game, which was a shock coming from the Danganronpa series. The worst I can say is that some of the characters weren't super interesting, but that was only for like two of the dolls in chapter 3. Big fan of Keiji, Sou (Shin?), and Reko. Every character feels unique and feels like they have a place in the story. Even some of the first characters to die are given proper characterization as the story goes on, meaning that really any character can be someone's favorite.
Sara is a pretty good protagonist, too! I often have trouble relating to protags in these kinds of games, but Sara is fairly interesting in her own right. If she were a side character instead, I think I'd like her a bit better... but hey, she isn't, so I'm not judging her on that. She's a fine protagonist with lots of character.
The story has the highest Revelations Per Hour of any game I've ever played. God damn. You get zero down time, especially in the latter two chapters. I haven't been this surprised by a game in a long, long time. Fuckin' love it.
By the way: On my playthrough, I've chosen Reko over Alice and Kanna over Sou. No dolls have survived.
Overall I loved what there is of YTTD so far and can't wait for even more in the future! Also, Alice is trans and you can't convince me otherwise.

Welcome back to Gaith FM! Giving your ears worms this week is some picks I have of Hiraeth music along with a few others. These are some songs I had on repeat for the past week, enjoy!
Rick and Morty sampled in this song but man is it good lmao
Pretty obsessed with the sound of this song tbh.
This song has no right sounding this good especially when it feels like it's just a shitpost. Ending goes so fuckin hard!
Since I've been drawing a lot of Skyrim art gonna share some music that I had on loop while drawing
"I think I'm mean to you
What are you gonna do now?"
Generally love to listen to this when I'm making my Edyir/Farengar art. Probably the most song I have on loop while doing so
This one is very specific and I'm not gonna go into why. Entail of Crow is a great band tho and I really enjoy their music so highly recommend them
And that's all I got for today! Thank you for tuning in to Gaith FM. See ya next time 👉😎👉

I'm in the last push to finish my dissertation, so I upgraded my study setup.
The two main apps I'm using here are Ulysses for writing, and Liquid Text for my notes. Over the last year or so, I've been reading and annotating entirely in Liquid Text to build a large set of references for the dissertation. You can see in the image both the original text and where I've pulled out passages into my workspace; the red lines connect the two, and each acts as a clickable link to the relevant document and page; I've got about 30 documents in this workspace, meaning that those links are a lifesaver. Normally, I just have this on my iPad, where Liquid Text has excellent Pencil integration, however for just these next few weeks I've bought a subscription to Liquid Text Live to sync with my Mac. I then took the TV from my house and brought it to my office, so that I can throw up my entire workspace on a bigass screen, while doing the writing on my Mac's smaller screen. I also threw an orange filter over everything to reduce eyestrain (this can be found in the accessibility settings on a Mac). Finally, since the TV and Mac are running the whole business end, I set up my iPad to control Spotify, which has been weirdly helpful for not breaking workflow; my ADHD gets triggered pretty badly by certain music things, so having a touch screen right there to skip songs or start a loop has helped. Honestly, this last year has been illuminating. I've gotten more done in the last 13 or so months than in the last 4 years combined, and a major part of that has been the integration of these kinds of tools. Liquid Text (and to a lesser extent Ulysses) has been critical in managing my ADHD, and especially my executive dysfunction. Being able to have all my readings ready to go on a device drastically reduces how many spoons it takes to start reading, and Liquid Text's method of annotation assists in preventing attention problems, both by reducing workflow interruptions and also in making the writing process far less tedious by consolidating all my annotations from different documents into a single workspace, which itself helps in the same way vis-à-vis attention and executive dysfunction.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this system for most ADHD folks; it's definitely overkill. All the tools help, for sure, but would not be worth the expense. We only have a TV at all because my wife was entered into (and won) a random drawing when she was working in the UPS warehouse. I probably wouldn't try to afford a Mac for school purposes; I have one because I'm an electronic musician, and happened to be in (relatively) solid financial position at the time. I was still on stipend, was adjuncting to supplement, had a trade in, and my wife hadn't yet gone back to school. In my current financial status, I probably would be writing my dissertation on the iPad, or at most would have something very minimal; maybe a chromebook.
With that in mind, I would recommend an iPad running Liquid Text, with a Pencil to any ADHD academic that can afford it. It was a major financial stress for us; I only just finished paying mine off, but it was absolutely worth it, for me. Moreover, one really doesn't have to be in the Apple ecosystem to get the most out of it. Two of my colleagues have picked up iPads and Liquid Text, and have had similarly excellent results, and both are generally speaking Windows users. I've heard that the Windows iteration of Liquid Text isn't quite as stable as the Mac version, but that's hardly a dealbreaker. In point of fact, one of my colleagues isn't paying for desktop sync at all, and has found just having the iPad workspace is adequate.

10 People You Want to Know Better
Thank you for the tag @birdmenmanga <3
Relationship status: Single.
Favorite colors: Quite a few honestly. I like most shades of green and blue. But there is also raspberry pink that i can't look away from.
Favorite foods: Alfredo linguini
Song stuck in my head: Many. Depends on what I'm in the mood to listen to and to listen to in loops. One that remains good to get stuck in my head is Blue Fields from Final Fantasy 8 or Female Turbulence from Trials of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 3). (I have to admit I've started listening to the Genshin Impact OST despite not playing the game. Lovely music !)
Last thing you googled: Expiring date for condiments such as mustard... because of food poisoning i had little more than a week ago (I'm all better now). So, the fridge in under watch.
Time: 3:41 AM (I should probably go to bed... but I was still going down the rabbit hole that is YouTube)
Dream trip: Mmmm... I haven't travelled much to be honest. But as soon I get my driver's licence (one day), I'd love to visit the provinces of my country. And maybe see friends from over the border, and maybe overseas.
Last thing you read: Final Fantasy XV: The Dawn of the Future, the DLC project that got downgraded to a light novel. But I enjoyed the read.
Last book you enjoyed reading: That would be mangas... XD Magilumiere Co. Ltd is always such a treat to read. But I've been surprised by the new manga Ghostbuster Osamu.
Favorite thing to cook/bake: Apple pie in a ramekin. Quite easy to make and tastes delicious. You can use any fruits really. Just need butter, flour, a bit a water, a pinch of salt for the dough; and cornstarch and sugar (or cinnamon or vanilla) to coat the fruits in. (The only thing I don't like is getting butter or anything oily on my hands because I have a hard time washing it off. But the smell and the taste of that small sized pie make it worth it.)
Favorite craft to do in your free time: Drawing and crochet. Reminds me I haven't crochet in a while.
Most niche dislike: Mmmm................. I don't know ? I guess people vapping/smoking inside there apartment and just won't open THEIR windows ???? Like, I can smell you through the walls and the floor and it's driving nuts... Why do I have to open MY windows ???? But since I've stopped complaining since it didn't change anything and do open my windows, then there's the neighbour from the next block going out for smoke while walking and then STANDING close to my window. Why can't I just smell my own apartment ???????
Opinion on circuses: Never been to one. The video clips I could see of the Cirque du Soleil continue to impress me. The performers are athletes !
Do you have a sense of direction?  Yes. I love to explore my options and find landmarks to help me locate myself. If time permits, I would go for walk surrounding my home/school/work, so I can update my mind map of where I am. Nowadays, it's mostly home/work. I try to remember the main roads/avenues and how they relate to each other so I can find myself in case my phone dies or something. In the cities, that would be knowing the alternative routes to get back home if my subway line malfunctions and I need to take the bus. I feel proud when I can help someone orient themselves.
