Sharing this here, because that's where i saw people sharing about this "free link to click" -> PLEASE STOP CLICKING IT AND SHARINGIT. IT'S A SCAM, AS SAID BY THE UNRWA ITSELF (see photo of the screenshoted mails here)
Tumblr media
(For reference, the UNRWA is the organisation where this free link site said the money was going!)
PLEASE SHARE AND RB
(if you have any questions, please use the comments so i can answer in one place)
Edit: the "/fr/" in the url is because of the language settings (french being my native language). It's not a different website... There's only one. (please look how urls work if you're not sure 🥲 /nm)
Edit 2: so i found out that people were reblogging a rb that called me a liar out of nowhere, and claiming the screenshots are fake...
Here's my last reblog on the subject, in which i posted all the emails one by one.
As i said in the last comments, i'm personally gonna take unrwa's word as is, and not click or share that shitty link anymore. Better safe than sorry. You do you. But whatever you do, i DO NOT appreciate being called a liar behind my back and people getting misinformations on the issue. I'm an honest person. I don't know what more i can do here, but i've done all what i could. Peace out. Bye.

I am 15.000 days old today.
I woke up early this morning, or rather, this night; not because I set my alarm, but because I needed to go to the bathroom. While there I remembered I had seen a post on tumblr just as i went to bed last night, on self defense for a specific target group that I wanted to read, but had failed to save.
I decided to search for it using a tag I expected to be in there, because I was still kinda sleepy. Instead I found that tumblr had nuked the account of a user, after this user had complained for a year or so about continual harassment, on the basis of mislabelled sexual imagery (fully clothes transition pictures).
I got sucked into this narrative, even though I don't know any of the people involved. I only use the platform of this CEO who decided to have a public meltdown on this topic, citing a post by said nuked account concerning hammers and exploding cars in a very tumblr-esque way, which wasn't cited in the ban report. But this hardly makes me an expert on the situation at hand.
I see lots of posts, of many people, showing solidarity. Pictures of their own transition to see if they'll get banned too.
Should I show my solidarity this way? My own transition is so long ago, the programs used to store my current photos didn't even exist yet. I'd have to go home and take a picture of an old photo, lying forgotten in a cabinet.
Oh, yes. I've turned 15.000 days and I'm not at home reading this, I'm on holiday, reading about how a website I've not been using for that long didn't seem as supportive of who and what I am as they claim to be. No surprise there, I've seen this before, I'll see it again. I think of my younger friends, who just started their own transition process, and wish it didn't have to be like this. That I didn't have to see this again, that they'd never have to see it.
I read all this, huddled half under my blanket. I don't want to wake my wife, she'll just tell me to not read this kind of stuff. Turn away, keep my head down. I get it, she's not under threat, and in my daily life I can be pretty open about who i am and who I was, with friends and even at work. I'm privileged in that way, having experienced only minor harassment in my real life, and tell myself that this isn't because I learned very quickly which places to avoid and when and how to keep my head down. Being open about who i am feels like an act of rebellion sometimes. I hope, and genuinely think, that doing this allows my colleagues to experience that we're just normal, kind people too. That I'm doing my part in some small way.
I'm 15.000 days old today, and I wonder when walking across the street and being in public becomes dangerous to me too. Like, more dangerous than it already is. Mixed in with the posts I read this morning, are reports of the death of a non-binary kid of 16, bullied to death in the United States. What a world to live in. What a world to be 15.000 days old in.
My alarm goes off, my normal work day alarm because even if I'm on holiday i prefer to keep my sleep schedule intact. I get out of bed, letting my wife sleep a bit longer. I greet my family in law, with whom we're on holiday with. I don't tell them about what I've read either, they will understand my worries even less.
I'm 15.000 days old today, and I worry about the future, and I worry about my friends and my friends' future, what it has in store for them.
But worrying about my friends also makes me think about my friends. How kind and supportive they are. How kind and supportive I can be for them. How I can maybe be the role model I never had, even though times have changed so much I have no idea how any of this works anymore.
I think of my friends, and feel warmth and solidarity. So here's to them being amazing, and me being amazing, and it's being amazing together. What a world to be 15.000 days old in.
And I write a post about hammers and exploding cars because I don't have my old pictures at hand.

ao3 exists, plus it doesnt even matter what terms i search for on tumblr 100% of the time theres fanfiction. literally you can search any words on this website and some kpop guy/ reader fanfics flood the results every single fucking time. plus some of us are not here for fandoms??? your circus/clown analogy is stupid
So I'm incredibly allergic to shrimp-- to the point where if I ate a single shrimp I would die, to the point where I don't really consider shrimp food anymore--and it's the weirdest thing, yesterday i went to Target to buy hair conditioner, and they were selling shrimp. Don't they know it wasn't what I was looking for and I can't eat it anyway? Why would they do this? Totally fucked up of those shrimp catchers to try to poison me like that.
But analogies clearly aren't your thing, so let me break this down for you.
AO3 does indeed exist, but your suggestion that fanfic live there and ONLY there is akin to saying that imgur exists, so nobody should be posting images, whether they be photos or art, on any other website. Twitter exists (sort of), so really nobody should be posting shit posts or hot takes that are fewer than 140 characters or whatever.
Not everyone uses AO3. There is no law saying that if you write fanfic, you must post it on AO3 and nowhere else. There will never be a law that says that, because that's not how the internet works. Tumblr, one of the few social media sites that allows longform blogging, is in fact a great alternative to AO3 for one-shots. It's a little trickier for multi-chapter posts, but I've seen people make it work.
AO3 is not social media. People can't DM there, send asks, make friends, bump their post to the top of the feed (unless they are an asshole who is about to get blocked by half of fandom for pulling that move). Do you like social media? I mean you're here, on tumblr, bothering a total stranger, so you must see some value to it. Guess what--fanfic authors also enjoy being on social media and sharing what they've been up to, including their WIPs.
Things you aren't looking for being part of your searches is literally just life on the internet at all times forever. Earlier this month I was looking for a reference of draped fabric for drawing purposes. I googled 'chiton drawing' (chitons like the ancient Greeks used to wear), and all I got were drawings of molluscs of the genus 'chiton.' Alright, I did a google search for "toga drawing" and learned that there is an anime girl named Toga and people very much enjoy drawing her. Were the artists of the molluscs or the anime girl to blame for me having to slog through a bunch of irrelevant pictures to find one that could help me with my drawing? No. They correctly labeled what they were doing. That's just life.
Seeing fanfic in the tag doesn't harm you. At all. It doesn't matter if you find it cringe, or it's a ship you don't like, or it's xReader. For like ten seconds you looked at words you didn't particularly like, and then you moved on. How is that different from literally any other post on tumblr? I see bad takes and essays I don't care about on this site all the time. It's called scrolling. Again, this will be the case for every website on the internet forever. Are you telling me you read every tweet in your feed? Every reddit post? Sometimes you see irrelevant stuff. I guarantee some of my mutuals have already deemed this long ass post irrelevant and are scrolling on by. What makes fiction that much more abhorrent to you than the rest of the nonsense?
If you really hate seeing fanfic, tumblr has content blocking and tag blocking. You can block the phrase "x Reader." You can block the tag "fanfic." You can block all sorts of things, and if that doesn't work, you can just block the writers whose existence annoys you.
Sorry man, you personally not liking fandom and not using tumblr for it has really no bearing on what everyone else is doing. Like it or not, tumblr is a hub of fandom, and fanfic authors are going to be a part of every fandom on this green earth. Just because you came to the circus in order to admire the pretty fabric used on the tents doesn't mean the performers are in the wrong for doing their thing.

Hi!! I hope this is okay to ask but you seem to be really knowledgeable on masks so i was wondering what type you recommend the most?? :0 i'd love to get more masks since i do mask already but want to get better ones and i feel like you'd know which ones are the best!! Tysm in advance and feel free to delete this if this is weird!! ^^
yes ofc im glad you asked!! this might get kinda long so bear with me lol (TLDR: I'd recommend to find an N95 that is comfortable and fits you well! My go to is the 3M Aura 9210, but there are a variety of other masks for every face shape if the 3M Aura isn't a good fit!)
It can be kinda tricky to name one specific mask since face shapes differ so much, but I'll list the ones I've tried and some styles you could explore! But my main recommendation is to look for an N95 or better! The most important things to look out for is a mask that has good filtration material and that it fits well on your face (no big gaps or leakage)! And of course, that you're getting a legitimate product.
I prefer N95s because they're generally more protective than KN95s and KF94s. There also isn't as much regulation for KN95s and KF94s as there is for N95s, so it can be easier to come across fakes. People also sometimes find that head strap masks keep their fit better than earloop masks. This isn't a one size fits all rule, however, some people have passed fit tests in ear loop masks! It's just something to keep in mind.
I'd recommend looking at masks on ProjectN95! These have been vetted to ensure they're good quality, and there should be links to buy directly from the website. Unfortunately there's a lot of fake or underperforming masks out there, so it's important to buy from a trusted source. Here's a video that covers this issue and what to look out for! Another great resource is Aaron Collins, who has posted a lot of tests and info about many different types of masks.
I use the 3M Aura 9210! I like this one for the material it uses for the straps. There are other kinds of 3M Auras (like the 9205) which are just as good, but they have those rubber straps and I just don't prefer those. This is the only trifold-style I've worn, but it's pretty comfortable!
Tumblr media
And this is just anecdotal, but I've heard the 3M Aura tends to fit more faces better than other styles. Compared to other masks I've tried, it has a stronger nose wire, so its easier to shape it to your face! Some others have had flimsy nose wires that don't hold very well, while others (like cup-style masks) have rigid ones that you're not really supposed to mold at all. This one has passed fit tests for me, and is comfortable enough for me to sleep in!
Another style I like is the Gerson 3230! This is a duckbill style mask!
Tumblr media
It looks a little silly but these are SUPER breathable. So much so that I feel a little exposed wearing them lol but I've passed fit tests in them multiple times!! One downside to these though is that unlike the 3M Aura, they don't have as much structure, so if you inhale too hard they kinda suction onto your face.
This is the 3M 8210, which is a cup style mask!
Tumblr media
These didn't work for me, but that doesn't necessarily mean they won't work for you! This specific mask is very rigid, so you can't really form them to your face, but they will not collapse when you breathe! I haven't tried other brands' cup style masks though, just 3M's.
This is a bifold mask! I just grabbed a photo of the Demetech one because I thinnnkkk I've worn this before? But its been YEARS, I don't wear bifolds anymore. KN95s also usually come in this style
Tumblr media
This style can be a bit tricky because they come folded in half, and that sharp point at the nose bridge can cause issues for some people. I see a lot of people walking around with a big gap at their nose because of that folded point, so just be sure to properly fit it to your face if you use these! Here's a video demonstration on how to do this, and here's a good photo example:
Tumblr media
Finally, there's also this strapless adhesive mask. They're kinda pricey compared to the others, but kinda cool I guess? Can also get them here
Tumblr media
Strangely I didn't pass a fit test in these? I think maybe I just need more practice putting them on lol
These are all N95s, but there are also masks like N100s, P100s, and PAPRs if you wanna get really intense. And I can also ramble about those but this is already so so long lol
Finally, it's important your mask fits well! This is to make sure that air is going through the filtration material, not going around the mask. For example, it'd be safer to wear a well fitted N95 than an ill fitted N100. A quick way to check for leaks is to do a seal check when you put on a mask! here's a guide on how to do it, and here's a video demonstration!
But it's important to note this is not a foolproof solution, and the best way to measure fit would be a qualitative or quantitative fit test. Unfortunately, fit testing can be rather inaccessible to most people, so it's hard for me to recommend it. There are DIY kits and DIY tutorials in addition to official kits, though. Quantitative fit tests are even less accessible, and I'm still trying to figure out how to get one :( But if you're interested in it, I can also ramble about that.
If you read this far thank you so much for listening to my lil mask infodump :') I hope this was helpful !!

I'm so fucking sick of the lightbox preview.
On the app, you have to open a photo in lightbox in order to download its original size. If you don't, you get some weird, random resized version that will be shrunken and might not be clear.
However, loading the lightbox is risky. Half the time (literally), it doesn't load. Sometimes, this will go in spurts; just now, I tried to load the same photo in lightbox twenty times and only got a black screen. I had to reload the app twice to get the lightbox to work. Conversely, if the lightbox does work, there's a chance that the app won't return to normal when you exit out of it; it will instead be black, won't load anything, and won't respond at all, so you'll have to close out of the app and reload. This, of course, resets your feed (because we can't have nice things like FEEDS ONLY RESETTING ON COMMAND), which can mean scrolling through hundreds of posts (depending on how many blogs you follow, how frequently they post, and how often you check) to get to where you were.
Some photos won't load properly at all on the app. I don't know why.
On desktop, the issue is similar. If you want to download a photo, you have to open it in its own tab. However, you also have to get it to load in such a way that it isn't in Tumblr's (relatively recent) photo display tab style, which will only allow you to download a shrunken, often distorted version of the photo. It used to be that you could open the photo in a new tab without a problem.
"But art theft!" Bullshit. I have absolutely no sympathy for this. First, if you're worried about your art getting stolen, don't post it to social media that doesn't have strict protections for such. And 90% of the photos on here aren't the blogger's art. They're selfies or porn or memes or otherwise taken from other websites. More importantly, if you want to, say, throw an image into a reverse image search (Yandex, TinEye, or Google Images [using the proper exploits to the latter anymore]) to find the original, you're likely barking up the wrong tree. Yandex no longer allows you to link directly to a Tumblr photo when it's in the lightbox on desktop. The resized versions often won't get IDed properly because they're screwed up somehow, while the ones that are direct file transfers of the original upload very well might. Plenty of "artwork" (though not often called such outright, it's presented as it) on here is putting someone else's full-color photos of people into grayscale (another peeve of mine) or cropping photos, almost always without credit, neither in a way that does anything meaningful to the original itself.
You should be able to tap (on the app) or right click (on desktop) a photo as it appears in your feed and download the original uploaded version directly from Tumblr. If you're worried about people stealing your art, you should have an option to disable this for your blog's original posts.

Its All Temporary!
All year I have been going through a review of my digital past, combing through emails from twenty years ago, on the internet archive looking at websites I designed, reviewing actual hard drives of saved instant messages and reading live journal entries from twenty three years ago. All of it is temporary. We thought the internet would be forever, it isn't.
I had a Flickr account for over 15 years, and they deleted it without warning or notice. I was devastated at first because it had the most complete archive of all my work, mind you I have it all backed up other places, but it was the one place I consistently named things and used it for reference when I did exhibitions.
Depending on the kind of work an artist has, most of these platforms aren't welcoming to you. Lets not even talk about AI and how that is distorting art. As a person with multiple identities the only place I could post my work without any restraints is on my own domain, which isn't something that really interest me anymore.
Look you're grown, do what you need to do, but I have been out there and its all crap everywhere! Deviant Art which literally has 'deviant' in its name is restrictive around which kind of work can be posted. As I mentioned previously Tumblr is just frustrating which its 'labels' and calling things "sexual themed" that aren't remotely sexual. I am sick and tired of having to partition my identities to present my whole self, which may not be everyone's struggle but its mine. The TOS are not set up for me to express different aspects of myself at the same time, only those that are more socially acceptable.
Now I have never been on Twitter which I know has a huge number of people using it, I never did because I am primarily a visual artist and I still think of them as a text-based platform, albeit there is loads of visual things posted there. Even Instagram and FB aren't overly friendly to artist and the latter isn't safe because its always under attacks by hackers, there someone on Ello who has been trying to get their page back unsuccessfully for months.
Tumblr is a scrolling site, I don't think of it as a community platform. Flickr was better when it was owned by its original owners. Deviant Art has "groups" that I guess could foster more "community".
Personally I am at a point where I am not very invested in any of them. The new Tumblr I started is really just for me. I have three followers who sporadically may like a post, but my real audience are the people who will survive me. I think it may be a good way to know me in my own voice, well at least for the time that this platform still exists, as I said its all just temporary just like our lives.

I was the art / interviewer question ask, and you got me there. I saw that you reblog the post about liking vs. reblogging things and mentioned that you don’t bother on posting art on tumblr. I guess this is what I was trying to say: what platforms you like posting your art on given the cons of each one? Not sure if this is even coming out right.
Ah okay, gotcha. Tbh with you, I don't enjoy posting my art on any platform at all anymore. I'm old enough to remember when social media as we know it, didn't exist. It was just one website after another, rising and falling every few years, and they largely existed to connect you to your IRL friends, but didn't mean you couldn't meet people online outside your immediate IRL friend circle.
Then facebook made its debut, and in its early aughts, it really was just about...connecting you to people you already knew or had shared interests/friends in common. Then instagram came along and it was amazing for artists because it wasn't the disaster it is now. It was literally just for sharing photos, with your friends, and whoever else happened to see it. And this was honestly a great time for artists because you didn't have algoritms burying your "content", you didn't have algorithms forcing you to create reels, videos, and all posts were in chronological order. So you could just throw your artwork out there and your friends could a) see it and b) enthusiastically interact with it, share it with their friends etc. So if your reach was, 20 of your friends, and 10 of them shared it with 20 of THEIR friends etc, you see how you could immediately reach a LOT of people who enjoyed your artwork? Now I'm fighting against Instagram forcing you into reels, stories and all these videos. It's hard enough *creating* the work as an artist, now I have to do progress videos, edit them to music, then upload them to platforms that bury your work because you have a small following, didn't post at the right time of day, didn't use the right hashtags etc ad infinitum. I'm just an artist, not a business person, or a social media manager, web designer, SEO manager, and I don't have the bandwidth to be all those things JUST to post some jpegs of this piece that I really enjoyed and wanted to share with the people who follow me.
That's why, pre-2018 mass exodus, tumblr really became the last place I'd post any art semi-regularly because you could just...post it. People were on this site literally to *interact* with you. Sure it wasn't always positive, but it was interaction, and it made me happy to just throw some relatively popular hashtags on a piece, throw it out into the universe and have even 12 people be excited enough about it to share it with their friends, or sending me asks saying how much they liked it or asking how I created a piece or just really enjoying a simple process video on youtube enough to subscribe there too. But now, a lot of the younger folks who've migrated to this site, like the post I reblogged said, interact with tumblr like they would tiktok, passive consumption. Where 12 reblogs and 10 likes becomes 12 likes, and nobody interacting with you at all, or engaging with the content you put out, and it's disheartening honestly. Getting eyes on my art has become so laborious that I don't find it fun anymore, and the times I do post, reify why I don't bother. You go through all this work to create a piece, record your process, edit the video, add music, upload it, and then...I donno, 4 likes? What did I bother doing all that work for? Lol. I could've just shown my family the finished drawing if I wanted 4 people to passively consume my work with 0 engagement on how it made them feel or expressing any real interest at all. So I just...stopped. Which is a common refrain I hear from a lot of creatives. It's too bad.
Hope that gives you a clearer insight into why I don't really post my artwork on tumblr, or any other site with any true regularity.

Tumblr media
this post is for mouse, but you can read it, too, if you want.
i hope you like the random photos i've been choosing. xD you've probably seen them all before, but it's still kind of fun to try to match them up with how i think the current post might go. the magnolia trees downtown will be blooming again soon so this one felt appropriate. i had another idea of what photo i might've used for this one, but i can't remember what it was. maybe next time.
anyways.
things have been going okay lately, with spring getting here and daylight savings happening, i'm finally starting to feel like a human again. it's been getting a bit better since i started working from home anyway, but more light is definitely helping. that said, i think the time change fucked me up real bad. i haven't been able to get out of bed before 930-945 all week (yay for working from home and working in my bed), i've been exhausted and i still can't sleep at night. shit's problematic. hopefully next week is smoother, but if this is the price i have to pay for daylight, i'll gladly pay it 50 times over.
A's internship/job is over now; she was hoping she could stay there, but long story short her manager and one of the HR people are both super ableist and discriminatory. she asked for disability accommodations (4 days of 8 hours a day instead of 5 days of 8 hours) and everything blew up in her face even though her request was perfectly legal and reasonable. i had just gone to a deep-dive webinar about the Americans with Disabilities Act a week or two before all this went down and i was appalled at the actual laws her workplace broke. to make it even wilder, she works at a community health center, doing things like, y'know, helping clients get accommodations at work for disabilities (among other things). the full story is kinda long, but i can tell you someday if you want. needless to say, she's back to the drawing board but has some prospects. fingers crossed.
my job is going okay right now. it's been a week since a bunch of articles came out saying we'll be declaring bankruptcy soon, but so far we haven't heard many peeps (other than a ton of us being anxious about it). allegedly, the type of bankruptcy we'd file would let us stay in business without making major changes, but we have over a billion in debt so....yeah. it's funny, on the website/earnings announcements they always say $1,xxx.xx million because it sounds a lot better than $1.1 billion. they're not really fooling anyone, though, or at least not us as the employees. they're especially not fooling me, because i know how far behind we are on paying our invoices.
i'm working on going through my books and sorting out what doesn't speak to me anymore. i have some of yours that you got when you were here last - i'm going to box them up and put them on a shelf in the basement so they don't accumulate cat hair like mine all are lmao. so far, i have about 25 books i'm going to be giving away or selling to a used bookstore i recently found. that's just the shelves in the blue room; i still have to go through the 9-cube white shelf in mine that's double-stacked.
Tumblr media
where i'm at so far.
the main shelf in the blue room did have a couple double-stacked cubes, but mostly those were A's terry pratchett books. it's been an adventure. next step is cleaning my room (pack up unused bags, get my cameras and gear organized, etc.) and then i can use the space in here to sort out the other shelf. i'm telling you this to inform you of my life, but also to hopefully hold myself accountable. xD
this is pretty long so i should probably wrap it up. it was definitely way more stream-of-consciousness than the other one so hopefully it's not too rambly. miss you bbg, i hope you're doing a bit better now. <3

I wholeheartedly agree with your stance on AI "art" being violating and problematic.
However, I do have a problem with the way you stated that even though you know MBB to be an adult, she is still Eleven from ST and a minor in your eyes.
She's 19. She's engaged. Because of her career she is probably more independent than anyone of us was at that age. And I do think that perpetual viewing of actors as 'stuck' as a character they once portrayed is problematic.
This is what happened when people thought "omg Hannah Montana has gone nuts" or "what happened to the sweet Demi Lovato?" Or anything else involving child actors.
What happened? They grew up.
Other than that, your point about AI generated images (I'm not even calling it 'art' anymore) stands. It's creepy and violating, especially because AI is getting 'better' (= more accurate) and I'm honestly afraid that before long we will have full-on deepfake porn videos with actors who never asked for that shit.
That said; it does raise the question with me whether or not a similar stance is warranted against NSFW artwork or smut with the actors rather than portrayed characters as the subject. (I've never been a big fan of RPF, and I don't think I've come across "real person fan art", so I can't really say with certainty if it would make me uncomfortable. But the AI things... They just make my skin crawl.)
You make a valid point!!! Warning long ass post reply below.
The Millie thing I think is more my personal view of her physically. I think I view Millie as still a young child is because of her youthful face and the characters she plays. I'm 22. It's still so hard for me to think she's only 2-3 years younger than me. To me she still looks 16. Very young. If she had a sex scene in the next 5-10 years I might still be inclined to turn away. She definitely has accomplished a lot.
I just cannot physically imagine her in sexual light at this present time. She has child like appearances other than when she's dolled up from a magazine shoot with Photoshop and then appears borderline age appropriate.
The same can be said for actor Bella Ramsey who is 20 years old, they have a very young look in appearance and have played many roles depicting them as younger than their original age. But both of them definitely deserve to be admired and respected to the work they've contributed.
So being told there's ai images with "white sauce" on her face makes my insides churn. Either a very young fan has generated that or someone's computer that might need to be investigated.
I never really knew who Hannah Montana was until wrecking ball (wasn't allowed to watch tv a lot growing up as a kid. And I was always told she was a slut in the tv show which is why I wasn't allowed to watch it -by gross male family members.) and I didn't know who Demi Lovato was AT ALL until the drug scandal- that's how I learnt about her music because they played it on the news. I was probably 13-14 at this time. But I think I understand what you're comparing...I think?
Like how Billie Eillish showed her body off when she was 18 and the internet went crazy, but to be fair I also thought she was in her 20s and was shocked when I found out she was only a little bit younger than me.
I still find myself uncomfortable even sexualising 33 year old Thomas Brodie-Sangster 😵‍💫 he still looks 13 to me!!!
REGARDLESS AS WE BOTH AGREE, THESE ACTORS AND PERFORMERS DONT DESERVE THIS AI PORN DISRESPECT.
For years people used to Photoshop actors faces into photos of pornos, I had issues with that.
The difference when it comes to art? Yes I think some people can be disturbing. We have Rule 34 for a reason guys. However the difference is that the art is usually not "realistic." We can tell it's hand drawn whether digital or hardcopy.
AI is luckily easy to spot usually. But it's too close in resemblance to these real people. A lot of porn websites have resorted to using AI, which is why I have a massive issue with this too. AI is two minutes if writing a description and having a computer generate. It's impulsive and dangerous.
Deepfakes, they've already made pornos with Scarlett Johansson, Taylor Swift and Katy Perrys faces I believe. There was a massive scandal when a man used the face of his female best friend in a deep fake porno because he had a "unrequited crush" for her and when she discovered the deepfake video on his computer while he was busy, she left and took him to court over sexual violation and privacy policies. It was HUGE. i hate Ai and Deepfakes.
There's even a constant debate on pedophiles using AI and Deepfakes as a means of gaining CP without soliciting CP... (I say guillotine their cock, hands, burn off their clits and spoon out their eyes with a melon ball scooper spoon but hey that's me ✌️ barbaric barbie.)
The difference between NSFW smut fics and AI porn, is:
1. Smut takes effort and time to write. AI writes and steals content for you. There's no creativity.
2. Because it's a written fic, they should have warnings and tags. It should be noted in RPF that the actors are not the same as your write them to be. This is why I changed a lot of my rpf into the characters they play.
3. Fics require imagination. AI is visual. No one can police your genuine imagination.
4. There are actors who have been uncomfy or flushed at the sight of themselves or the character version of them in NSFW Situations. Loki the pole dancing art and mpreg were show to Tom Hiddleston, who had a chuckle and many emotions of confusion with disgust and horror. I can imagine many actors would prefer to see an effort in art and literature when it comes to evil things instead of just some half baked computer program that creates lewd and anticlimactic imagery.
.
The only time I have ever excused it's use was for the chance to see my dads face move again because I don't have many videos of him, and as morbid as it is there's a comfort to seeing him smile in ai moveable photo scanning apps. But to many others this would be considered disrespectful to the dead and to be honest I would side with them if it came down to banning ai and Deepfakes forever.

Is blogging still relevant in the age of TikToks and Instagram?
"Is blogging even a thing anymore? We've all heard people say 'blogging is dead' as many times as we've heard 'content is king.' Social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram have taken over as the go-to way to express ourselves online. So, you might be wondering if blogging still matters in today's digital world.
I've been blogging since 2012, and I've noticed that since around 2014, there are fewer active bloggers. But why is that? In fact, many people wonder, 'Do folks still even blog these days?'
Instagram
Instagram came on the scene in 2010 and quickly gained a million users in just two months. In less than a year, it had 10 million users. Today, it boasts over 1 billion active users and is one of the most popular social media platforms globally.
I kept hearing claims that blogging was on its way out, and terms like 'microblogging' started popping up. The debate of Blogging vs. Instagram is ongoing among digital influencers and content creators. Many folks prefer to share their lives through Instagram, posting photos for their followers instead of maintaining a traditional blog.
It seemed like long-winded content was being replaced by shorter, more image-heavy, easily digestible stuff.
When Instagram first started, it was all about sharing everyday moments—a pic of your meal or a quick snapshot with friends in a nightclub restroom. But over time, it evolved.
Instagram started being used alongside blogs. Most bloggers wanted to use it to promote their blogs, similar to how Twitter was used. However, because Instagram doesn't allow clickable links in captions, it didn't work out as well. You could say, 'the link is in the bio,' but it's just not the same as clicking a link right then and there.
Nowadays, Instagram has become a massive force, and we hear terms like Instagrammers, Influencers, and content creators more often than words like bloggers, vloggers, or YouTubers. Instagram feeds are no longer just snapshots of people's everyday lives; they're full of carefully curated images that often look like they're straight out of a magazine. I'm not saying that's a bad thing—I'm guilty of getting lost in a stunning Instagram feed myself."

TikTok
"Do you know that back in early 2019, TikTok became the most downloaded app on Apple's iOS store? It seemed to pop up out of nowhere and just took over.
It's even seeped into Instagram – I swear, every other food-related post these days is all about some 'TikTok recipe' like baked oats or feta pasta. And then there's Instagram Reels, which is like a total copycat of TikTok. Oh, and don't get me started on how Instagram seems to favor accounts that use Reels. But hey, that's a rant for another time.
Getting popular on Instagram can be quite the challenge, but TikTok works in a way that lets anyone hit it big, even if you don't have a massive following."

Why are Instagram and TikTok so popular, and is traditional blogging losing its appeal?
Microblogging Is More User-Friendly
Signing up for Instagram and TikTok is straightforward. You can create an account and start posting without the technical hassles of dealing with servers, domains, hosting, or website setup. No need to search for website themes or customize widgets.
Simplicity of Use
All you need is a mobile phone to get started. Apps like Lightroom and VSCO cam allow you to edit photos from your phone and create an attractive Instagram feed. TikTok offers easy in-app video editing, removing the need for advanced software like Final Cut Pro or Adobe's programs.
Access to a Potentially Wider Audience
As Valentina Chirico points out, every influencer aims to expand their audience. Instagram and TikTok offer the potential to reach millions of existing users. The audience is there; you just need to get your content in front of them. In contrast, blogging often requires substantial effort to attract traffic through SEO, keyword research, email marketing, or networking before you can monetize.
Shorter Attention Spans
Traditional blogging focuses on long-form content, which is essential for Google ranking. However, this contradicts how people use social media and the internet today. Users prefer quick browsing, consuming content, and moving on. Instagram excels at displaying beautiful images, while TikTok is the go-to platform for short, entertaining videos.
Brands Favor Instagrammers and TikTok Influencers
One challenge for bloggers is that more brands want to collaborate with Instagrammers and TikTok influencers. Some opportunities require influencers to post on their blogs, Instagram, and TikTok simultaneously. Even if bloggers don't use TikTok or prioritize it, brands increasingly value this multi-platform approach.
So, Is Traditional Blogging Declining?
Many experts predict that traditional blogging may decline due to the rise of social media platforms and evolving digital trends. However, I believe that traditional blogging is far from dead. People will continue to read blogs, and there will always be plenty to write about.
The blog readership is changing, as is their content consumption pattern. Blogs now need to focus more on solving readers' problems and providing valuable information. List posts and how-to guides still perform well. Moreover, most blog traffic comes from search engines, underscoring the importance of SEO.
Blogging is now part of the broader content marketing landscape, where content is distributed across various platforms. While marketers increasingly collaborate with Instagrammers, the ability to work with them across multiple platforms, including blogs, remains advantageous.
We should also remember that Instagram and TikTok could suspend or delete accounts, whereas with a self-hosted blog, you have complete control. It's unwise to rely solely on one platform. Once you have a successful blog, website, and an email list, you don't have to worry about losing everything overnight.
What are your thoughts? Do you think traditional blogging is on the decline?

wow i'm starting to hate the heart for likes...I guess i was unfortunately correct about the likes being equivalent to my wants being ignored, and that not being okay anymore as an artist, and as a human being in general, sharing my thoughts? Just. Maybe Tumblr should make an update where only the reblog function exists, and could...be the like heart? Just mashing them together maybe? If that would help?
I don't know man. I guess it just hurts to see something i poured my heart and soul out on and established my boundaries with just got the same treatment as what I originally complained about. This fucking stings is what I'm saying. Fuck the people on here using this like twitter or facebook. It makes me all the more grateful to see when somebody has reblogged. I wish that happened more often.
So anyway, I had meant to provide some links to some new places I'm going to post my work on. I tried to find a simple photo uploader, but shit wasn't going right there. My god everything is going to shit here.
But here's the good news! I have some places in mind; one is on Gaia online, which still exists! Wow no wai guyz, but yah wai. I'm Foxishpeep, and another one of mine is NicolleneCosplay. I encourage you guys to make an account if you like, and get access to things like my profile and journal, and make comments on threads I make in the future, because despite what things happened there, you don't necessarily have to keep up with monthly collectibles, and it's one of the most iconic avatar designers on the internet. Buying items with real money is just like any other gacha; optional. And I'd actually say gaia has gotten fairer about getting gold and fancier items now. It's way easier than in the past! I like that. I'm gonna post my art and writing, and just generally play around with avi customizing, as I always have. It's actually a fun way to render original characters!
Another spot I have is on Pixiv, NickoWicko, which is exclusively for art posts. That might be good for comics too, so I'mma try it out. I've already posted some concept ideas for my Fate/ fanwork, Fate/WildPinnacle! I have SO MANY SCRIPTS FOR THIS ALREADY. But for anything I want to create visually for it will go here. As for writing...
I have overheard of a project called Neocities, and I haven't decided what mine will be named, but it will basically be my tumblr here, but even more personalized and just better all around. This is where I guess everything will go. Just wanna see if I can spread myself around. I'm especially excited, because while I basically know next to nothing about coding, I have always wanted to make my own website since all the way back in the late 90's. THIS IS AN OLD DREAM THAT HAS A CHANCE TO COME TRUE AGAIN, HOW CAN'T I GET HYPE ABOUT THAT. I'VE GOT THE POWA
The other two places I have in mind is Fanfic.net or AO3, exclusively for writing. I have actually been making more written work than art lately...because I have never found the free time or a safe space to wind down and have a focused atmosphere to create like this. I can still type, but my fucking god I miss being able to have a quiet draw session... It especially hurts because I want to post pictures with my fanfics and original works! Uuuurghgrhgg
REBLOGS > LIKES, THANK YOU!

I feel like more artists should talk about how they use references (if they want to) because there's been a really weird stigma around it lately. So:
I use Pinterest sometimes. Pinterest is pretty shit if you're looking for proper references that are credited and definitely approved as public domain by the artist, but there are lots of appropriate ways to take inspiration from works that don't meet this criteria.
Poses. My poses are so boring - so I look at photos of people online. Poses can't be copyrighted, although I bet someone's tried. Sometimes I'll download a photo and draw a stick figure over the body to really understand what's happening in the photo. I personally don't use that in my actual drawing but I'm pretty sure that's completely legal to do anyway.
Outfits. Again, I dress boring myself so I tend to draw boring outfits too. I'm thinking I'll probably make an outfit college from photos on Pinterest - so long as I don't publish it anywhere, it's perfectly fine for me to do so. Well, technically I probably could publish it, just like people publish mood boards and stuff, but I just personally wouldn't feel right about it.
Art styles. I definitely don't just use Pinterest for this because I like actually giving artists support and attention, but Pinterest is one of the places I go. I look at art and think, what do I like about this piece? What don't I like? What do I think of the composition, the lineart, the colouring techniques, the proportions, the stylization? Is there any aspect I might like to try incorporating into my own work? Learning from other artists is important. Our art styles are a blend of a bunch of diferent influences, so studying those influences and learning what you like and dislike is really good to do.
Colour palletes. This is definitely something people try to charge for but again, you can't copyright these. I've never used procreate but I've heard that you can even just drag an image into their program and they'll automatically make a pallete out of it. I never eyedrop, even though that is legal to do, but it's nice to easily find lots of examples on what colours look nice together and what colour combinations I personally like, very quickly.
Anatomy practice. I don't really do this anymore but in the past I've downloaded photos of people and used it to draw their line of movement, a basic stick figure of where their body proportions are, and then their body, all over the image. Then I practice doing it without the image. Technically this is probably legal to publish since you'd be adding to it after the body is drawn, but it's definitely best to learn how to draw bodies on your own. Starting from references is good though. This is especially important if you're trying to draw people of a certain ethnicity for the first time, fat people for the first time, people with certain disabilities for the first time, etc. I know from experience that when you first start looking for photos of diverse people on Pinterest, their algorithm might show you some pretty gross and degrading stuff, but if you ignore those and only interact with proper references, you'll fix your homepage pretty quickly.
And again, there are better websites. Actually, I'm trying to incorporate more websites myself but I kind of keep forgetting what they're all called and I forget to tag when I reblog posts about it 😭
But I just wanted to share that references are ok and idk maybe start a discussion about how other artists use them because I'm really curious.
Oh also if you go to advanced settings in Google images there is a setting for usage rights that you can customize. I don't know how accurate it is but we were taught to use it in a professional grade design course so I'm hoping it's good.

tiktok has ruined facebook for me. they always get me with those stupid reels now and every time I got to check to see if my friends/loved ones have posted anything that I want to see I get sucked in by those stupid videos. I'm always like, oh I'll just watch this one that looks silly and cute and then I keep clicking and I realize I've been watching for an hour. SO i say "oh i should stop after this next one" and then I don't and then it's been 2 hours and now I need to start thinking about what to eat for lunch and don't have time to sit down and focus on homework anymore. and then after lunch i start working on homework and then I'm like, oh i just sat down, let me check facebook real quick just catch up if anythings happened. and facebook has gotten very insidious about ads as well these days, i have to scroll through like 10 different ads just to see a single post from someone I actually know/follow on facebook. and of course I will end up scrolling past those stupid reels and click on one. I tried to train myself out of it. I tried to train myself to click on one and then immediately close it. It didn't work. Anyway, i remember during the 2020 election I got paid to participate in a survey that required me to not use facebook for 4 months. and I think that that was like, the happiest I'd been. I mean, I would have my partner check my page to make sure that no one tagged me in anything I should see (family photos, pics of my nibling, important family updates, etc)
anyway, short story long I installed an extension (limit, i think) that will limit you to a preset number of minutes for any website and it has some set in right away like facebook, reddit, etc. the issue with this is that it's wayyyy to easy for me to turn off. Also the presets were un-deletable. and it considered literally anything that wasn't google itself to be a distraction (even Canvas... the school app). so the best I could do was set the limit really high for every website that wasn't a distraction. this failed because all too often i would say "oh i deserve a lil break" and disable to extension to check facebook for "just 5 min" which would immediately turn into 4 hours of reels.
I realize that I should probably state that I deleted facebook from my phone like 2 years ago because this was an issue on my phone. Like I would open my phone and immediately go to facebook, so i deleted it from my phone and from thence forward facebook was exclusively a computer experience.
Anyway, I've looked into countless ways to disable reels from facebook, but every blog claiming solutions says that reels don't exist on desktop mode, so just delete facebook from the phone and only use facebook on your computer. yeah I already did that buddy. years ago. but reels in fact do exist on desktop mode. anyway, i installed a new extension that just fully blocks facebook completely between hours that I set (1am-midnight), and I didn't look into how to change the hours or disable it.
I didn't realize how much of my facebook checking was just muscle memory. every time i even slightly lose focus on my homework i just open a tab and type "f" without thinking
now i get a little blank screen that says "facebook is disabled between the hours of 1-24, which snaps me out of it, and I can usually re-focus pretty quickly.
Anyway, everyone on this planet who has been subjected to whatever dystopian media thing we have going on has had their attention span stolen from them and we deserve better

B2B List Building
Whether you enjoy the process of email marketing or see it as a necessary evil, email marketing is here to stay. So how can we work around some perplexing obstacles?
Tumblr media
Photo by Christopher Burns on Unsplash
Technical Obstacles
Technically, the biggest challenge is gaining contacts from cold emailing. It is not easy to gain the trust of complete strangers, anymore, but worse still, most third party email marketing services want contacts to be twice validated before being included in an email marketing campaign they mail out for you.
You don't have to be a spammer to be made to feel like one. The obvious workaround in this instance is to start small and do it yourself. At least until you have a minimum of 300 twice validated subscribers to begin with.
The first DIY concerns are:
1.IP Reputation- (Talos Cisco) Checking your reputation before you begin email marketing will let you know if your IP address is in good standing or not, it will also let you know if you are listed on any of the block listed websites. Being block listed is an automatic flag, especially if your email has other triggering elements in the text or body. This can happen from actual complaints or from a series of technical misadventures that you didn't even know existed. In most cases, there is someone you can contact to request removal and begin cleaning things up before it gets out of hand. 2. Email Warming (usually only free for Gmail) this allows you to keep an email marketing, email account active even when you are not launching campaigns. This process will disarm SPAM filters and prevent your email address from being flagged and potentially blocked when you do launch an email marketing campaign.
3. Deliverability - many services will give you a free review, so you know what technical areas need "work" in order to ensure the maximum number of emails reach your prospect's inbox.(Glockapps/Snov.io/Woodpecker)
Creative Obstacles
Visibility, obvious as it may seem, creating your visible presence online is a construction project. Building a website or webpage that best expresses, your commitment to stability, transparency, and quality while attracting customers is an obstacle that we all have to take seriously. Assume no one knows you, has heard of you, or wants to trust you, and build your platform from there with this in mind.
"Constantly Converting" is my mantra, and I recommend it.
Audibility, this is perhaps less obvious, but getting the ear of your prospect is the next obstacle. This means fine-tuning the tone of your contacting efforts to not only identify the problem your product or service solves, but finding the audience that is having this particular problem and reaching out to them directly.
Association, is the third and final obstacle to converting a prospect. Essentially, when your prospect can see what you are offering and hear that you understand a little about their challenges or concerns, they will start finding value in your business on their own. So they have seen, they have heard, and they realize what you are offering.
Now, they can comfortably decide if they want to buy, and you can comfortably categorize this prospect and their qualifications, as well.
Pragmatic Obstacles
In order to build your B2B list, you must know your qualified professional prospects (business or industry) and how to locate them online. You also need to know the actual value of your product or service in the real world.
You need to know these things in order to connect the three types of building blocks you will use to grow your brand affordably and steadily.
The three types of qualified prospects you will always be managing are as follows
1. The prospects that find your website, page, blog, or social media posts. The prospects that your visual presence has organically attracted and that your product or service meet an immediate demand for.
2. The prospects that have heard your message. These prospects didn't seek you out, but because you have been persistently promoting your business and trying to connect with your target audience, they have discovered or become aware of what you are trying to do, and they approve. They may not buy right away because there isn't a need, but they want to be on your list, and they want to keep up with your company.
3. The prospects you had to generate an association with by locating their industry, finding their personal contact, and literally pursuing them with your personalized cold email strategies. Thank you for reading, please follow or subscribe. See the links below for more tips and tricks.
