when considering Ashton's reasoning about Imogen continuing to give in to Predathos, that her being lost is inevitable and that it would be better if it happened now as opposed to later, it feels very important to remember what they said to Laudna when they first landed in Issylra, when she was terrified Imogen had become a moon-worshiping zombie in their separation: If she got blasted into space, we'll go to space. If she got vaporized, it's not like we didn't fucking find you. There is nothing else until this is dealt with. This is what we do, is we bring everybody back. Not only is nobody getting left behind very much Ashton's thing, but he specifically does not see Imogen being lost to Predathos as her being lost for good. (and tbh I agree, given how heavily the story since the start of the campaign has been leaning on her to confront this.) And even if it did, they'd still go through hell trying to get her back.

But it also makes me think of what Imogen told Ashton, after the shard; maybe this was destiny, like they thought it was. Maybe what they needed was to shatter into pieces and come back together. That same idea, of controlled burning, needing to confront something to overcome it, fuck yeah, jump into that lava and find yourself, to hurt is to heal - Ashton, we watched you break into a thousand tiny pieces. If she got vaporized, it's not like we didn't fucking bring you back.

i keep thinking about how cool jade and alan and xavier would’ve been in the fight. i keep thinking about jade and xavier team attacking the trickster, or alan absolutely mowing down twenty demons in one turn.

i keep thinking, what if jade made it. yknow? what if she remained an ally to the prime defenders even if she couldn’t understand the gaps in her memory and the odd rift randomly stuck between her+ her friends and the other three?

what if she had to put all the confusion aside to help save the world?

what would she think of deadwood? would she poke fun at william? what would she think when watching him get torn in half? would she stand guard for dakota as he wailed over william’s body? would she grieve him too, or would she just be shocked? would she go into a rage alongside vyncent?

would she be terrified the first time she met the trickster? would she try to guide anna to safety?

what if she got gravely wounded in the final battle? what if she still made it? what if her first time talking to ashe she introduced herself like “hey, you kinda tried to kill me when you were all possessed. i’m jade btw. just don’t do that again and we’re cool.”

jade and ashe would’ve been such good friends and it genuinely makes me ill.

My cat just ran outside while I was taking my dog out to the bathroom, refuses to come back while calling her and shaking food at her. Actively runs in the opposite direction. And ofc someone broke the laser pointer I keep on my keys so I can't trick her back into the apartment. I'm so pissed that shit broke off, all my other crappy keychains are still attached. The laser was how I got her back last time she escaped but she'd only taken a few steps out and I was able to snatch her.

And I'm not supposed to have her so I can't even notify the apartment complex a cat is missing 😐 guess she's an outdoor cat now :/

(neil the unstoppable force always on the run, changing, adjusting, moving things along for others as well etc, andrew the immovable object not just in his ethics/morals/approach but also as a source of stability to lean on etc… and their colliding is not just what the want but what they NEED as individuals to grow!!! andrew providing stability for neil to grow roots and have a home and have a place to belong, neil bringing with him a revitalising force, a forward momentum that presents andrew with a future that is more than just an empty existence or a waiting for death but a Life. that’s why they work. like. they wanted to collide, they needed to collide, THEY WERE MEANT TO COLLIDE))
