Do you think Sanji's nightmares ever get bad enough that he starts actively avoiding sleep until he passes out from exhaustion?

I think Sanji deals with nightmares constantly and wakes up at ungodly hours on the verge of panic attacks and the guy just. He just stands up. Goes to the kitchen. Starts cooking. From 1 to 5 until somebody wakes up and then he has to pretend he is as fresh as a fucking rose. This guy has never drunk so much black coffee in his entire life. Everybody keeps telling him to rest and he keeps saying he is alright. If he sees double and blurry that is nobody's business but his! He is about to throw up all the damn time and if you add that he is always around food it just. It doesn't help. Not to mention the headaches. And the anxiety. His heart is going at an insane speed. He feels like shit. He can't even recognize himself in the mirror but that is his usual daily life so it is alright (it isn't).

Also, HC that he definitely has some type of insomnia, and even if he wants to sleep, he just-- He can't. So it's either passing out or Nami hitting him with the clima-tact so hard he ends up unconscious and at least that's better than not sleeping at all.

Okay, but the crew notices, right? Of course they do. And they all have nightmares because I think it is impossible in that crew to be somebody without those. So they take turns watching Sanji in case he passes out. They check on him without him noticing because angry Sanji is something, but angry Sanji with 6 cups of coffee in his veins and no sleep? That is dangerous.

One day Luffy cuddles with him to sleep because he says it's the captain's orders and turns out Sanji doesn't have any nightmares. Falls asleep right away.

Robin lets him rest his head on her lap while he talks to her about a new recipe and he's dead asleep in seconds. No nightmares.

No nightmares either when Nami lets him put his head on her shoulder for a few seconds and it works instantly like a damn sleeping pill.

Brook plays a lullaby? No nightmares. He hears Franky in the background working? No nightmares either. Shitty marimo is training at ungodly hours? Somehow no nightmares either. Chopper cuddles next to him while he is having a nightmare? It instantly stops.

Jinbe carries him once when he has been without sleep for a week and he doesn't hesitate to fall asleep. No nightmares.

Leaving Usopp as the last one because. Sanuso. Sanuso moment. But. But turns out he really, really, really likes it when Usopp talks to him. When he tells him one of his stories. And he doesn't fall asleep because he is bored (he actually gets really frustrated when he wakes up and realizes he couldn't hear the end of the story) but because he feels extremely safe around him.

So long story short, Sanji sleeps well only when he is near his crewmates but otherwise, he has the worst time of his life.

All the chapter scripts for Triangle Strategy are now up on the wiki! The scripts should contain essentially all of the text from the game, with the exception of some UI and other not-dialogue things.

Long-winded list + rambling about what I still need to clean up under the cut:

I haven't touched the mid-battle dialogue yet for the most part. It's all pasted in every chapter, but I've pretty much just slapped a "This dialogue is triggered if [condition unknown]" label on all of the lines and called it a day.

The dialogue for each side story is only included in the data once, so if one side story is included in multiple different route paths, there's a decent chance I missed that. Once I get the basic script down, I'll go back and take a closer look to make sure I have the side stories duplicated where they need to be.

There are also a few scenes that were in the script and that I can remember playing through, but they didn't seem to actually be in the chapter the datamining said they would be in, so I need to track down where they actually go.

Event descriptions are mostly all there, but there were a few places I need to go back and check.

There are a lot of little general things I might have missed (things like conditionals that didn't show up in the ids I was looking at, so they flew under my radar).

Question-answer associations are likely mixed up in a lot of places. I touched on it in a previous post, but this is due to the fact that when Serenoa is answering a question, there's no real id that's used to indicate what dialogue follows a specific answer. So I've mostly just gone off of what sounds right for the time being. But if you're dying for a not-tldr explanation (and of course you're dying for a not-tldr explanation!!!!):

The way I've been "datamining" a lot of this isn't actually datamining so much as it is sort of......... making educated guesses based on the developer's variable naming system. Like for example, a specific piece of dialogue might be named:

MS01_X01_A1_0010_F_FRE_0070

And what I did was sort of reverse-figure-out what those ids indicated. I figured out that MS stands for "Main Story," 01 is the chapter number, X indicates that it's part 2 (if there ARE two parts, otherwise it's just the whole chapter), A1 is a reference to the location (Wolffort Demense), 0010 I think is technically some sort of scene id, but I haven't been able to crack what exactly the value indicates. "F" is the gender, "FRE" indicates that Frederica is the speaker, and "0070" is some other numbers that I did actually figure out what they meant but it's not relevant to datamining (it's a counter for how many times a specific character has spoken in a scene, which was probably useful for making sure each dialogue line got a unique id but it's not super useful in any other sense). (Also my little brother was actually the one to figure that out for me so shout out to him!!!)

There are variants on this with other information included, such as:

Which is a line of Erador's dialogue with roughly this interpretation:

MS: Main Story

02: Chapter 2

X: Main Chapter Content

RESEARCH: Comes from Exploration phase

01: Version 1

DRAMA: This happens during the exploration phase (as opposed to before or after it)

M: Male

ELA: Erador is the speaker

S01: Scenario ID 1 (usually means this is the dialogue that displays the first time you speak to him, vs. any time afterward)

0020: speaker count again

With questions specifically (like Benedict asking, "What do you think the purpose of the tourney is, my lord?"), those lines of dialogue usually get the label S03. That "S03" label is applied to all parts of the question-related conversation, including: the question itself (e.g. "What do you think the purpose of the tourney is, my lord?"), Serenoa's answers ("I think it's to show off our military might", "I think it's to make friends," etc.), and any NPC response that follows (e.g. Benedict saying, "Not quite, my lord. You see, it's actually..."). As far as I can tell, there's no way to tell what answer goes with what NPC response. It would PROBABLY be in the code somewhere, but while variable names are really easy to see, the actual code is a lot harder to break into and would require likely learning a new coding language and other stuff I simply don't feel like doing.

So thus I'm just guessing a lot of times. For a fair amount of it, it's pretty easy to tell what response goes with what question, but whenever it's ambiguous, it's entirely possible I mixed up the placement of a few lines here and there.

Hello! Just wanted to tell you how much “what luminous worlds await” lives in my head absolutely rent free. I’m not caught up on the sequel because I really haven’t had time to read fanfic lately, but I think about luminous worlds constantly. best time travel story I have ever read, one of my favorite stories of all time. It genuinely reframed the way I conceptualize the universe, the idea that it’s singing to us all the time and is filled with love and care for us will live in my heart forever (the way the luxon loves leylas!!!!! Ahhh!!). Also the worldbuilding you did around the magic tech is astounding! I think about the ruidus life support system allll the time. I wish I could go back in time and reread it blind for the first time and experience the magic of watching the story unfold all over again. You’re an incredible writer and I can’t thank you enough for sharing such a clever and moving story.

Hello!!! THANK YOU!!! I have failed to respond to this for two days and it's cuz I kept needing to scream into the carpet anytime I thought about it. I am ALSO not caught up on my own sequel and it is haunting me at the moment, I'm not gonna lie. I have like... a third of the next chapter written and that's where I've been for months. It's fine it's cool writer's block has not been giving me an existential crisis, nope, none of that here!

ANYWAY I am very 🥺 to know that it had that effect; it was definitely partially a product of me working through some stuff wrt belief and how I interact with the world and knowing it had a small amount of the same impact for people reading it is... wild, honestly, but I'm very pleased that came through!!!

Also I did want you to know that I listen to your playlist for it SO often—I ended up putting a bunch of songs I found from it on a playlist for an original project with actually fairly similar vibes, which I'm hoping will turn out like... marginally as well as I felt like luminous worlds turned out, though that project is currently highly unwieldy (and it always has been lol) so we'll see if that happens.

The good news? I’ve survived the year so far. The year is one day old, sure. Still the way I feel every day is….

Actually, is it good news or bad news? I mean, if you know your life is falling over a cliff and every day just brings you closer to hitting bottom, is the bull headed determination to live, suffering be damned, a good or stupid thing???

Oh I dunno.

The actual bad news? For a few weeks I kept telling myself to worry about things until after the holidays. The holidays are now over.

The even worse news? All that time I kept trying not to think about the things I’ve got to deal with, I was low key worrying about them anyway. This meant I had trouble resting or enjoying myself, and now I no longer have an excuse to go easy on myself.

I am so dang tired of everything…..

as much as i do love all these characters i am pretty glad that the kirby supporting character designs have finally shifted away from the same “floating hands, pupilless eyes, and no legs” mould thats been there since rtdl

#not saying that magolor taranza susie sectonia or anyone has BAD designs per say but by the time the mage sisters were around #i was definitely a little tired of it. especially since the sisters all have the same outfit and face really #plus it makes certain characters look kinda samey like taranza and magolor to an extent #when those two like. could have a connection? but really don't beyond one easter egg in one haunted house level in ktd #like their backstories dont really involve the other at all #again i dont think theyre bad designs but maybe they could have done something a bit different w taranza at least #haltmann and susie do a better job at being distinct which ill give em credit for but yknow the elements are still there #its not that rayman hands are bad like i am taking the rayman hand thing for my own oc designs bc its cute #but thats not what defined what a kirby character looked like yknow?#like it was always there in the series w characters like wisp or poppy bros jr or simirror all of which i love #but you also had characters like knuckle joe and flaming leo and wheelie #and it was refreshing how in forgotten land all of the major characters felt like kirby designs but didnt just do floating hands no legs aga #again #echoed voice
