A fundamental issue of all the Dracula adaptations that do the Dracula and Mina are in love thing is that they always do it in this stupid "Dracula's dark and alluring mysterious aura draws in Mina" instead of someone asking at a train station when the train for Liverpool is supposed to arrive with both Dracula and Mina answering at the exact same time in sync and then locking eyes across the station.
#It is the one thing they share in common and yet every adaptation erases it.#I mean Mina X Dracula is shit either way but at least make it funny.#Mina harker#I really do think that every Mina X Dracula take requires completely ignoring Mina's entire personality and turning her into a cutout.#Dracula#It wants to subvert the book but at it's core it walks in and says “Lucy's life doesn't matter because Mina thinks her killer is hot”.#It also generally is just kind of gross.

A Drabble inspired by @0nelittlebirdtoldme
The Room was completely silent. The two men looked at the mauled corpse on the foyer floor. It was a little boy. Or rather, that is what the mess had been not a few minutes before. The silence broke
“What the Hell is your problem?!”
Jonathan whirled to snarl at the elder.
“He knew too much.” Vlad stated, nonchalant.
“He didn’t do anything to us! He had no idea of what we were doing!” He shouted back.
Rather than answering, Vlad began cleaning the remains of the child, pointedly keeping his gaze on the younger as he did so.
“You’re a filthy dog.”
He didn’t even see the Count move before he found the wind knocked out of him, and claws sinking into his neck. He tried in vain to claw the offending hands, or find some sort of opening to worm free. Vlad gripped his chin with a free hand and forced him to meet blazing eyes.
“If you ever,” he shook Johnathan for emphasis. “Ever call me that again, I will make your eternity here far less enjoyable. If that isn’t motivation enough for you to behave? I know of a lovely woman in London who would make a fine bride. Are we clear.”
Jonathan went pale. “C….Crystal.”
“Good boy.”

Jonathan: “I do not.”
Mina: “You always spend all your time with me and Lucy, and any time you can’t, you mope around the house waiting for me to return.”
Jonathan: “I don’t get along with men!”

Jonathan: “That is your friend. I introduced you two, sure, but every man I introduce to you is immediately more charmed with you than with me.”
Mina: “Well, what about Mr. Hawkins?”
Jonathan: “Mina, he loves you! He likes you much more than me.”
Mina: “That is a complete lie! Surely, he sees me as an extension of you. He loves me as his daughter-in-law.”
Jonathan: “Mina, if anyone is the in-law, it’s me. You’re his pride and joy!”
Mina: “It’s not like he even raised me! Meanwhile, you were at least trained by him.”
Jonathan: “But it’s you he brags about. He grants us a loan once and suddenly all your accomplishments are a result of him being our benefactor. “Did you know Mina is a schoolmistress?” Yes, boss, I’m married to her. He sees you as his own daughter.”
Mina: “And what of you?”
Jonathan: “His clerk.”
Mina: “Well! It’s not going to happen again! I’m going to introduce you to a whole posse of men, and they’re all going to love you!”
*few days later*
Van Helsing: “Oh, dear husband of Madam Mina-”
Jonathan: *side-eyes Mina*
Mina: “... listen--”
