Crying weeping sobbing about how at its very center His Dark Materials is a story about childhood best friends who love each other so much that one of them literally rips the universe apart because she promised she'd save the other one and she refuses to abandon him. "I told them you'd come, just like at bolvanger" yeah okay okay okay even in the world of the dead Roger never for a second questioned that his best friend would show up and help because she promised. the way children love is strong and pure and more powerful than anything in the world its okay I'm fine its fine.

I'm Ranting About Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling and Trans Rep (and you can't stop me)
Okay here's the thing
My youngest brother showed me Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling before he actually ended up coming out to me. I don't even know if he knew he was trans yet. I know he knew that I was part of the community. I know that was the year we went to pride altogether as a family, and I know he knew that I was a big fan of seeing any decent representation.
He came out to the last person he needed to (our dad) about a month or so ago, now. He's officially out. He's experienced shit but that's not the point. Keeping on topic, he's still hyperfixated on Rocko's Modern Life, to the point he had me and our other live-in brother start watching the show, too. We watch it when we hangout before bed.
We correct everyone on the show, though they can't hear us, about Rachel's name and pronouns.
But that's not what I'm here to talk about.
I want to talk about Rachel's voice acting situation.
So before Static Cling, Rachel was played by Joe Murray, the show's creator. We have seen the discourses about who should play trans characters, and now, while this wasn't the case at that point, we have seen what happened when Elliot Page came out as trans, and how TUA handled that.
But in this case, the character comes out. Not the actor/creator (as far as I know). So do they recast her actor for an actress? Not exactly.
Joe Murray still played Rachel in the movie. And I loved that fact, because her transition didn't fundamentally change her character. She was still RB, but now she used her full (chosen) name and smiled more in the movie than she had throughout the entire series run.
I loved that her coming out wasn't a big deal for Rocko, Heffer, or Filburt. Hell, the only reason her own dad had an issue with it was because it was a big change while his life was already changing.
(He still reacted badly, but he came around)
In the end, Rachel was accepted. She went off to find herself, came back a happy, confident woman instead of an anxious and sometimes angry closeted girl, and helped everyone process change in a much better way.
Also, her mom was just happy that the shoes that didn't fit her would fit her daughter.
