Melinoë (Μηλινοη meaning ‘Dark-Minded’) was the goddess of ghosts, nightmares and funerary rites in Greek mythology. At night she wandered the earth with her train of ghosts, striking fear into the hearts of men. Her limbs were black on one side and white on the other, a manifestation of her dual chthonic and heavenly nature. Melinoë's presence was also believed to be the reason why dogs would bark at seemingly-nothing at night. According to one myth, she was known to be the daughter of Persephone (queen of the underworld) and Zeus (king of the gods) which seems quite simple but really is not. At the time, Zeus was incarcerated in the Underworld and had multiple facets. Persephone was impregnated by Zeus in disguise as one of Hades avatars, a Plouton. When Hades (king of the underworld) discovered the pregnancy, he tore Melinoë's body apart. Despite this violent beginning, she emerged as a powerful figure in Greek mythology, appearing in the Hymns of Orpheus and being revered as a bringer of nightmares and madness.

My fav thing about TAZ is that any aspect out of context sounds fucking bonkers.
Like, in the balance finale there's a scene in which Garfield (who is very specifically never described visually bc most people imagine him as like. The Lasagna Cat. Who in this universe is the most powerful warlock in the realm and also has a hobby of cloning people, which is great for the one character that got forced into haunting a mannequin) is summoned by an alien spaceship that runs on the power of friendship so he could beat up some flashing balls. In D&D.
And that was just. Such a normal scene in the narrative. No one blinked an eye. I would like to bow down to Griffins clear unmatched talent for making me feel such big emotions over ridiculous shit like a goddamned umbrella or a regular ass pair of jeans or the idea of a taco recipe.
I have an idea if you make a pjo godly parent quiz- make it really hard/rare to get one of the big three! there’s always too many people who get Poseidon on the quizzes I’ve taken like where are all the Hermes kids…
I already intend to do this! I have a similar pet peeve, so I already incorporate that kind of weighted system into stuff like my random PJO oc generator, or I have a google form quiz where I will manually assign godly parents based on the results and I usually try to reserve big 3 kids a bit but honestly I don't usually even need to. Cause there is usually a different god who fits better which makes sense when you think about it.
Like, it's fandom. More specifically, it's a BOOK fandom. Of course the fandom is gonna be mostly Athena and Apollo and Hermes and maybe Dionysus kids. That basically just covers all the arts and an interest in books/mythology/history. One would expect the fandom to have disproportionately arts-and-literature-related godly parent assignments.
Just thinking of Domestic!Ghost Simon Riley, helping fold the towels and wash cloths while Kehlani starts a load of their laundry, making sure everything is out of the pockets, putting any change or bills into the jar they set on the shelves above the washer and dryer as a savings fund.
Simon who finishes his task and watches for a moment, a smile on his face as Kehlani rearranges their shoes in a way that makes more sense to her, making sure the laces are tucked in so they aren't prone to tangling or getting ruined.
Simon who gets up from the couch and helps move furniture out of the way, reminding her that she doesn't need to move anything heavy and that she shouldn't, chuckling as she pouts at him, telling him that she can still help.
"The doctor didn't say I couldn't move things, he just said I'm not supposed to lift things for the next few months." she tells him, but lets him move things around so she can sweep and mop.
"Well, I'd still like for you to be careful." he tells her as he moves things back in place with her direction. "Besides, we wouldn't want this little one to make too early of an appearance." he chuckles, kneeling down to kiss her belly over the dress she's wearing.
