I just found your account and started following you❤️ could I request a Eddie x Henderson reader ( Dustin’s sister) where she’s dating billy and they argue a lot and she’s been crying a lot and one day Dustin’s talking to Eddie about it at lunch and is like “ I’m so sick of billy making my sister cry” and stuff like that and Eddie has a huge crush on her and so he’s like no no nobody’s gonna make her cry so he goes and confronts billy about it and it’s some confrontation then end how you want ofc and add whatever else! Eddie liked you. He liked you a lot.
It bordered on the edge of obsession sometimes, just how much he liked you. He would never admit that to anyone else, though.
It was so bad in highschool, that he genuinely thought that maybe he had failed some of his classes because he had been staring and daydreaming about you. In reality it was most likely because he had a hard time with math, but he still did spend a lot of time thinking about you. What it would be like if he finally approached you and admitted the way you made him feel.
You graduated and he didn’t. He thought that would be the perfect time to get over you and move on. To his surprise though, one of the freshmen he took under his wing was your stepbrother.
Dustin brought you up in conversation a lot. A curse and a blessing for poor Eddie.
He saw you in passing sometimes after you graduated. Sometimes you would pick up Dustin, or be at the Henderson house when Eddie was dropping him off after Hellfire. You were in college now, though, so the sightings of you were few and far between. Eventually, you stopped coming around the Henderson house to Eddie’s dismay. Dustin had mentioned that you were too busy to stop by anymore and could only make it by during the holidays.
Eddie avoided asking about you to keep his infatuation secret, only gathering information when it was freely offered to him.
Sometimes Eddie would wonder how different his life would be if he had spoken up in school and asked you on a date. Would the both of you be happy together right now, living a dream life? Eddie always considered you the one that got away. Even as the years passed by he never did forget about you.
Eddie was in his mid 20’s now with a job at the local mechanic shop off main street. He had a trailer to himself, across the park from his uncles, now that he was an adult. Life at the trailer park alone was quiet and normal as always. Everyone who had lived there had already been there for years, so he knew his neighbors well.
It was a sunny summer morning when the moving van came barreling through the gravel drive of the trailer park, hitting every pothole that the park owners never bothered to fix.
Eddie was curious since his neighbors moved out who would take their spot. He hoped they wouldn’t mind that he played his music too loud while he worked on his car out in the driveway sometimes, or think he was the devil based on his choice of clothing and music.
The truck parked, lurching on the uneven ground. Eddie watched as the metal door swung open and two pairs of legs popped out. He leaned forward on the front porch couch, trying to catch a better glimpse. He knew Wayne would want to gossip later during their nightly talks and if Eddie didn’t have all the details right the old man would just come down here himself.
Eddie’s eyes followed the legs, traveling up your body to your face. His eyes grew wide and his heart stuttered. His lit cigarette fell into his lap.
“Shit,” he hissed, frantically picking it up before it did any damage.
You glanced up at the noise, making direct eye contact with Eddie. A wide smile grew on your face and you gave a happy wave.
“Eddie? Is that you?” You asked, using your hand to shield the sun out of your eyes so you could see him.
Eddie wished he could melt into the old wooden planks under his feet. You looked beautiful standing there smiling up at him. You wandered closer, abandoning the open door to the moving truck behind you.
Eddie cleared his throat. “Y-yep. It’s me.”
Your grin grew miraculously wider and Eddie thought he was going to pass out. It had been years since he had seen you up close at this point and you still looked just as good as you did in highschool.
“I can’t believe it. I mean Dustin mentioned you lived here but I didn’t know we were gonna be neighbors!” You said cheerfully, bouncing up the porch steps towards him.
Eddie stood up, because he didn’t know what else to do.
“What are you doing here? I thought you’d be living in some big city by now?” Eddie didn’t mean for his words to come out like that. He thought that they sounded lighthearted but the smile dropping on your face had him second guessing himself.
“Yeah. Life happens I guess,” you said with a forced smile.
There was a brief awkward silence before Eddie spoke up again. “Do you need any help?”
A loud engine and music cut out Eddie’s words as a blue Camaro pulled into the lot, revving its engine obnoxiously. Eddie recognized the car but couldn’t quite put his finger on it.
You went to scurry off the porch. “See you later, Eddie!” You called, rushing to the side of the moving van.
Your reaction bothered Eddie but he didn’t know why. You had started the conversation so cheerful and then he watched the joy drain from your face, like being near him was scary. The feeling made Eddie’s heart drop. Were you scared of him?
The car parked beside the moving van. Eddie dropped his cigarette again, now burnt to nothing but ash, when Billy Hargrove stepped out.
You greeted him with a kiss. Eddie thought he was going to throw up his breakfast right into the grass. There was no fucking way someone as kind as you ended up with Billy fucking Hargrove. Eddie had imagined throughout the years what would happen if he ever ran into you again, he just didn’t ever expect you to be taken by someone else when it happened.
Eddie couldn’t watch as you started moving your belongings into the trailer with Billy. He went inside his own trailer and locked the door.
“Fancy seeing you here,” Eddie said as Henderson approached his work station. “Don’t tell me your car broke down again?”
Dustin shook his head, looking a little pale. “I need to talk to you.”
Eddie straightened at Dustin’s distressed expression. Even though Dustin was grown now, Eddie still felt an urge to protect him. Eddie motioned over to his boss that he was taking a break and led Dustin through the back door of the building where only the employees parked so they would have some sense of privacy.
“What’s wrong?” Eddie asked as soon as the door was shut behind them.
“Have you seen my sister?” Dustin asked, using the toe of his shoe to push some gravel around.
“Yeah. I saw her yesterday when she was moving in. Why?”
“Can you keep an eye on her for me?” Dustin asked, looking up at Eddie now with a pleading expression.
“Why? What’s wrong?”
Dustin shook his head, looking up at Eddie now. “I don’t like Billy.”
Eddie scoffed. “Yeah. Who does? The guy was an asshole in highschool.”
“Yeah, well that hasn’t changed,” Dustin explained in a mumble.
“What do you mean?” Eddie asked. It wasn’t a surprise but he needed to know if this meant what he thought it meant.
“I mean. He’s used up all her money and she lost her apartment. That’s why she’s back in Hawkins and moving into the trailer park. I didn’t know because I’ve been at school but he’s not nice to her. She’s come home to my house a few times crying until she eventually goes back to him. My mom said it’s just regular relationship drama but it doesn’t feel right.”
Eddie processed the information he was given for a bit. He wanted to jump in his car and drive back to the trailer park right at that moment to check on you. But he knew that if he came on strong it would only push you away. “I’ll listen out for her Dustin.”
Dustin visibly relaxed. “If you see anything, call me.”
You were out on your porch when Eddie got home that evening.
You smiled and waved. What Dustin had told him about your relationship with Billy stayed in the back of his mind for the whole day.
Billy’s car wasn’t in the driveway, so he thought it would be a good time to talk to you.
“Hey,” you greeted as Eddie approached.
“Hey. How’s the moving in going?”
“Good. I’m mostly unpacked now. I didn’t have that much stuff to begin with,” you told him. Eddie wondered if Billy was the reason you didn’t have that much stuff but he didn’t voice it.
Eddie hummed in response as he leaned against the railing to the steps as nonchalantly as possible. He could feel his pulse hammering in his chest and he felt like he was in highschool again asking you if you had the answers to last night's homework.
“Everything else okay over here?” Eddie asked, suddenly finding his rings more interesting than anything else around him.
When you didn’t answer, Eddie chanced a look up at your face. Your head was tilted and you were squinting your eyes at him like you couldn’t quite figure out what he meant by the question. Eddie felt like you knew what he was alluding to.
“Everythings fine,” you said slowly, pushing yourself up from the plastic chair. “You should go. Billy will be home soon,” you said before going inside without another word.
Eddie kicked himself the whole short walk back to his trailer. He just hoped that he wasn’t stupid enough to cause you to pull yourself away.
Eddie didn’t ever see anything but he heard it about a week later. You and Billy both came and went from the trailer park without incident. The few times Eddie had seen you, you avoided eye contact at all costs. Eddie wondered if it was because Billy was around both times or if you hated him now.
Trailer walls were thin so he always heard quite a bit of his neighbors' lives. Usually, he would just ignore it and move on. But he couldn’t ignore this.
He was smoking his evening cigarette, barefooted with his hair still wet from his after work shower. He was just about to put it out and head inside for the night when a smashing plate caught his attention. Ears perked, he listened for where it came from. That’s when the yelling started in your trailer.
Eddie got up without thinking. Gravel cut into his bare feet as he crossed from his lot to yours.
“You think you can just break up with me?! After everything I do for you?!”
Eddie didn’t waste any time yanking the trailer door open. You stood up against the wall, tears streaming down your face. A broken plate laid on the floor beside you with a dent in the wall beside your head from where it hit. Billy stood across from you, a bag packed in his clenched hand.
Your wide eyed stare met with Eddie’s. You shook your head slightly, silently pleading for him to go.
Eddie saw red. “Did you fucking throw that at her?!” He seethed.
Billy whipped around, making eye contact with Eddie. “Get the fuck out and mind your business, freak.”
“Don’t call him that,” you snapped, straightening your shoulders.
Billy let out a humorless laugh and pointed his thumb at Eddie. “This why you want me to leave? Because of him.”
“Does it matter? Just go,” you begged.
Eddie made his way closer to you, placing himself between you and Billy in case something else got thrown or he wanted to lash out. Eddie knew he wouldn’t win a fight against Billy but he would try. Eddie knew Billy’s type though, he wanted to beat on someone he knew he could win with. The rumors about Eddie being a fighter around town were too strong for Billy to take the chance. Eddie silently thanked who ever started that rumor.
Billy scoffed, tossing the duffel bag over his shoulder. He exited the trailer with a loud slam of the door, causing the walls to shake. Eddie wasted no time locking the door behind him in case he changed his mind and decided to come back in. Neither of you breathed until you heard his car start and pull away.
“You okay? Did he hurt you?” Eddie asked, assessing you for injury.
You quickly shook your head. “No. I’m sorry you had to see that, Eddie,” you apologized. Eddie could see the walls coming up around you.
“Don’t apologize. Be careful. I’m gonna pick up the plate,” Eddie warned as he picked up the sharp, shattered pieces. “Do you think he’ll come back tonight?”
You shook your head. “No. He’ll go stay the night with some girl in Indianapolis for a week and when he gets bored he’ll come back. That’s why he left so easily. He actually wanted to leave but didn’t want me to think I was in control or something,” you said calmly.
Eddie wondered how often this had happened for you to have it understood like a science. He looked down at the pieces of broken plate in his hands, he wouldn’t say that that was him leaving easily.
“I can go and get some new locks for the door in the morning,” Eddie offered. “If you don’t want him to come back this time.”
“That would be great, Eddie. Thank you so much,” you said.
Eddie noticed the way you kept glancing at the door despite telling him that Billy wouldn’t come back that night.
“Do you want me to stay? I can sleep on the couch just in case?” Eddie asked, not wanting to leave you here alone just in case.
You eventually agreed and called it a night, but not before blocking the front door with a chair just in case.
Billy never came back that night, but like clockwork, showed up a week later trying to get back in.
You didn’t let him in this time, instead flexing that new restraining order to have him removed from the property by Hopper.
“Thank you, Eddie,” you said suddenly one evening during your daily talks. It had been about two months since Billy left and you were doing good. Dustin was even able to come over to the trailer to see you, something you never let him do before.
“For what?” Eddie asked.
“For looking out for me,” you shrugged.
Eddie cleared his throat. “You know, I’ll always look out for you. If you want.”
You raised your eyebrows and did your best to hold in your laugh.
“What?” Eddie questioned, feeling insecure now.
“Are you finally admitting you have a crush on me?” You teased.
Eddie dropped his head in his hands. Of course you knew. And now you were going to laugh at him.
“It’s okay,” you said in a soothing voice. “I guess I can admit that I have one on you too.”
“Really?” Eddie was shocked.
You placed a quick kiss on his cheek. “I’ll see you around, Eddie. Same time tomorrow?”
Eddie nodded, speechless as he watched you walk back over to your trailer. His brain caught up with his body as he jumped up from his seat and ran after you. He wasn’t going to let you get away this time without asking you out on a date.
And when you said yes, Eddie realized the wait had been worth it.

Favorite Childhood Book
A Fada Oriana (The Fairy Oriana) by Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen.
It's about a fairy named Oriana that has to take care of a forest but one day, while looking at the river, meets a fish who talks her into neglecting the forest, which causes a lot of trouble. Then, Oriana, has to learn how to repair the damage she made.
It's a book about responsibility, consequeses, the importance of individual action and learning from one's mistakes.
Currently Reading
Património Cultural: Realidade Viva (Cultural Patrimony: Live Reality) by Guilherme d'Oliveira Martins.
It's a book about the preservation of patrimony in Portugal under the context of belonging in the European Union in the 21st century.
It's not a very interesting book nor scientific, just a summary of Portuguese and European laws for people who don't wanna read the laws (?). I wouldn't read it on my own but it's a mandatory read for one of my classes in my Master's so I gotta ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

I didn't know if I was going to but since GMM seems to be finally trying out more for the GLs, I feel like I need to show my support in this direction so I made the moral choice of watching as it airs to make it clear to them the audience for this is here and we want more of it!
So far ep.1 was super cliché and silly but I liked it a lot!! I want all the clichés for the girls too! Tired of seeing queer women suffer and die on screen...
2. 3 Will Be Free
It had been sitting on my watchlist for a while but I never gotten around to it for some reason... Nevertheless, my latest Wheel Decide™ for what to watch next landed on it, so... I'm watching it now!
2 episodes in only but I'm loving it a lot!! The plot's super interesting so far, really like the way they're going about it. Let's see where it goes!!
Currently Consuming
I'm gonna opt to mention the game I'm currently playing (besides Bloons TD 6, but I'm always playing Bloons, so... not news), which is Heaven's Vault by Inkle!
It's an extremely niche game, focused on figuring out an ancient language and, with it, the history of the world it's set in. It envolves robots, space travelling, discussions on xenophobia and religious intolerence and a lot more. I haven't finished yet but I'm loving the experience so far!
I understand it's not for everyone but I'm loving it!! <3 (not a Mickey D's reference, fuck Mickey D's)

**firstkhao mafia romcom directed by p'jojo - fk have a series confirmed by khao himself, and all their interactions with p'jojo ever since that first sus ig story makes this one almost 100% confirmed for me (maybe not all the details exactly, but fk with p'jojo at the very least).
**estwilliam cp debut - ALL THE DETECTIVE WORK HAS CONVINCED ME, after greatinn and thorfluke were successfully sussed out before part 1, i have faith that this is gonna come true too 🙏
**KRISTSINGTO COMEBACK - YOU DON'T JUST BRING BACK SINGTO WITHOUT EVERYONE CALLING FOR THIS and there's nothing gmmtv loves more than the big bucks so we all know this is happening 😌
**bounprem's vampire project reannounced (possibly with a new trailer) - i think this one's a given and probably why bp will be there. i'm not sure how long this whole sws gmmtv overhaul has been in the works for, so i dont know whether they'd have filmed a new trailer or not, but i'm expecting some more gmmtv artists to be added to the cast as well.

heartliming spinoff 🫡 - geminifourth's best work imo and i don't think anything will ever beat it for me <3 it would make for such a good show if it's executed well (i have full faith in gem4th and p'aof), it's been too long now, but i would actually die if this happened
a platonic friendship-based show - i just wanna see a really good friendship group (which we can make gay in the headcanons anyway lol) and put them in situations, whether it be crime fighting, trouble making or anything in between honestly
be gay do crime - need i say more? (why are half of my wishes lowkey the same thing reworded 💀)

Weekly TV Round Up <3
Alright, it's time to recap TV this week. I tried to only watch either 1 episode, or 1 hour's worth of episodes for each show. So far, I'm still liking watching shows in this format and there was really only one show that I was tempted to binge (At 25:00, in Akasaka) (I think it helps that I don't mind spoilers)
QL SHOWS
🌍- 23.5 (ep 12): And with that, GMMTV's first GL is complete. This episode had a very epilogue feel, which makes sense. It pretty much wrapped up the storylines (I'm still rooting for MawinTon lol). Overall, I'm glad that this shows exists and it's the sign of more to come. There were some things I liked a lot (my fave episode is probably the one where they go watch the meteor shower/stars at the school or the early episode where they try to discover the alien at the school). There were also some things I didn't love and I don't think that Sun's character was really given enough backstory to fully understand. I probably won't rewatch this, but it had a lot of good moments and I think the cast did a great job :)
🦋- My Marvelous Dream Is You (ep 3): The messy lesbians continue. I actually really liked the conflict set up in this episode. I think the show portrays really well the internet reaction to this particular scandal and I like how they highlighted that because they are two women, they have to deal with sexual harassment comments on top of the homophobia. And the ending where the solution to the scandal is to get Dawan to be shipped with a man, and having that solve all the problems also feels realistic. I can see the angst the show is setting up and I think it is balancing the sadder moments with humour well. Also the dream sequences are really well done. I must say though, I think Dawan must know she is gay, or into Kim in some way because how do you dream of making out with your best friend then wake up and just, go about your day without questioning it. But then again it's implied (in the trailer at least) that Kim is also in these dreams and it doesn't seem like she has sorted through her feelings as much so idk
✨ - We Are (ep 8): I feel so conflicted with this show. On one hand, I enjoy watching it every week, and I especially love the dynamics within the friend group. They really feel like a true friend group and the show goes out of its way to bring up how important the friendship is. The problem for me with this show is more the romance aspects and how they're developing. Sometimes it just feels like a bunch of scenes together that aren't related to each other, and I still don't really understand how this show has eight more episodes... So yeah, I like the individual characters a lot and the friend group dynamics, but not really the romance plots that much.
🧍♂️- My Stand In (ep 5): This show is still keeping me hooked and I like the arcs that they're setting up. I saw some people talking about how they haven't really been consistent in the body swapping premise of the show or really addressed Joe's angst with that, or reminded the viewers often enough that he is in fact in another body. I actually agree with those takes but for some reason it isn't hindering my enjoyment of the show. Maybe because to me the body swapping part isn't what got me hooked on the show in the first place. This episode, Joe is just repeating the same cycle, and you want to yell at him through the screen. Ming's character continues to be so interesting and I am loving seeing everyone's analysis of this show. For me though, it's Joe. I love a character who at his core is so kind. He's willing to go through his past traumas for a woman he doesn't actually know, but has embraced as his own mother. At the same time, he is stuck making the wrong decisions which hurt him and the people around him.
💟- Wandee Goodday (ep 4): This show is continuing strong for me. I like how every single person in this show continues to clock them for acting like a couple. I also like the dynamic of them talking about their crushes and feeling a little bit of jealousy around that. All in all prime content. I'm interested to get more of both of their families backgrounds, especially Yak's. As always give my man Kao more screen time and a love interest <3
🥘- What did you eat yesterday? (S1 Ep 7-8): I finally can return to this show! 🎬- At 25:00, in Akasaka (Ep 1-3): This show had a strong start for me. I love shows where the characters are actors. By the end of the show I'll decide whether I think I would have watched the show they're filming lol. Shirasaki took method acting to a whole new level like he really is committed. Also clearly Hayama is already so down bad, like he is fully taking advantage of this method acting and having the time of his life. I'm excited to see where it goes and get the backstory of why Hayama is so attached to him.... Also the cuddling and intimate talking scene at the end of episode 3 was really good, like how are they already acting like this. Finally, if I could transport all of Hayama's outfits to my closet my life would be complete
🏡-Living With Him (Ep 1): I got my gagaoolala subcription again and wanted to make full use of it! So far it's pretty good set up (I have to admit though, childhood friends is one of my least favourite tropes don't kill me)...another show where one of the characters is dowwnnnn bad. Personally, if my roommate kept being like "Hey, there's just no way you got broken up with I'm going to closely observe you to find your flaws" and I wasn't in love with them I would be so annoyed. Also I can't like "I've never done this with a girlfriend I avoided touching them as much as possible" PLS SIR
🥟- She Loves to Cook, She Loves to Eat (Ep 15): This show is too good like they're so cute texting each other. Another wild lesbian appears! And offers her a wlw watch party! Is this my dream? Kasuga saying Nomoto had a fire in her for talking with a stranger on the internet lol. I made cabbage rolls like this once and they were fire and now I'm inspired to make them again.
Non- QL Shows
📚- Abbott Elementary (S3, Ep 14): NOOOO I need more, I'm so sad this season is done. I just want to watch this every week for the end of time. But honestly, 10/10 episode and 10/10 ending...I was really wrong about them dragging out the love story another season but I'm not mad about it...If I was at the party I think I would travel between the board games area and the dance floor lol
👽- 3 Body Problem (Ep 3): Alright, I like the more backstory we got this episode and more context of what the game is for and who the people that were contacted last episode are. I'm still interested in seeing how the game/fleet of ships from the other planet is connected to scientists being forced to stop their work. It ended on such a cliff hanger too which really leads me to believe that the true nature or goal of the organization recruiting people through the game is a lot more sinister than they let on. I think it's probably that they are recruiting the brightest from Earth who will be allowed to stay and help transition the new arrivals while everyone else on Earth will not be allowed to stay. I'm still sort of confused and am wondering if we will get anymore flashbacks to the past to see how Mike Evans is involved. It also lowkey ended on such a cliff hanger.
📝- Bridgerton (S3, Ep 1): Bridgerton is BACK! I think I've had half this show spoiled to me already but I don't mind. This episode gave me exactly what I was expecting from a Bridgerton show so I'm not complaining. I like the set up of the conflict of Penelope shading Colin through Lady Whistledown, that definitely won't come back right? Also, I feel like Colin didn't actually travel anywhere, his travel stories just don't seem to be adding up. Kate and Anthony are also cute, and I may be delulu but I am a Cressida/Eloise shipper.
👯♀️- Hello, My Twenties (S1, Ep 5): Me and my gf go back and forth on choosing the show we're watching and this is her pick. I am a fan because I love any show set in University and a show about 5 girls living together during University is perfect. I once lived in a house with 6 girls so a lot of this show is relatable. Like this episode really captures the essence of how fun it is to plan a party and decorate for it with your roommates. Some of the editing choices confuse me and sometimes this show feels very much like it was made in 2016, but it's fun.
🏫- Degrassi (Ep 74-80?): Me and my roommate have been slowly making our way through the 400+ episodes of the Canadian icon that is Degrassi. We are almost done season 4, and this whole season has had so many heavy topics discussed, and as per usual Degrassi I think does a pretty good job at exploring them and balancing between being informational and entertaining without feeling exploitative, it's truly the pioneer. Right now, there's a teacher-student romance arc though so I'm hating that...
Overall, a pretty good week...this year has been pretty mid so far (with a few exceptions) for me with TV shows but I feel like it's starting to pick up so that's exciting!

well... that would have to be kinnporsche. i saw the "i know you feel it too" bathroom clip the filmania trailer and was intrigued, but lost track of it amidst the initial release drama, only to come back around when i saw the first kiss scene (true chemistry fr). i wasn't fully invested until then, but i guess you can say it spiraled from there 😅 it looked cinematic and very horny (spoiler: it was both), but i never could have expected to be so... oh, what's the word..... consumed by it? (case in point: me writing a mini essay in here eh oh el)
what were the bls that you felt a bit disappointed with last year?
i had to really think back for this one bc i feel like there were so many good bls happening last year. the one that finally occurred to me is gonna sound so stupid... but probably kissable lips? 😭😭 i do not know what i expected or wanted it to be, nor do i really remember it that well tbh, but i feel like it did have potential to be better. again though, i'm not sure what standards i was holding it to so maybe it actually did deliver lol. i could be absolutely crazy, who knows!

Your all time favorite bl/gl character and why. It’s hard to narrow it down really but I think I have one and it’s DaWoon from Blueming, now I kinda feel like it’s a bit of a cheat cause blueming is so new but I think he really is my favorite character, I just really enjoyed his character overall from start to finish and he never frustrated me and made me question him as a character or his actions much which a lot of the time I feel like can be really boring and does not make a good character but I think in this it works really well *Honarable mention: Pran from bad buddy*

Biggest disappointment. Conner was nervous.
He had no reasons to really, it was even quite stupid for him to stress so much about something so dumb and normal.
And yet, here he was, at the kitchen table in his parents’ house (most of the time, he lived at the Young Justice’s headquarters, where he had his own little enclosed apartment, but it was vacation time for everyone so...he came to visit his family), barely touching his breakfast while he usually ate six eggs, countless hashbrowns and so oh so much bacon...
It’s his mom who noticed. Of course it is. His brother and father were to busy eating to see anything else but their plate.
Lois turns to her oldest boy (that she came to consider her son not so long ago to be honest, when Clark finally came to closure with the fact that he had to be there for him...well, “not so long ago”, quite a few years now, nearly ten in fact, Jon was tiny when Conner really came into her life) and says :
-Are you OK Conner ?
And by the way he jumped in the air, she knew she was right. Something was wrong, and she was gonna get it out of him.
Conner turns to his mom, as if she just slapped him, utterly surprised she noticed something (even if it was very obvious) and shakes his head :
-Yes. Yes, I’m fine. I was just...thinking.
Lois gives him that mom look that means : “And you think I’m going to buy that ?”, and doesn’t even have to say more for Conner to continue :
-Ok it’s just...I wanted to ask you something but I don’t know if...I mean...
Lois elbows her husband, who was still too engrossed with his food to realize anything, and gives him that typical wife look that he could translate by : “Pay attention to what is happening, it’s important...also you have a piece of egg on your chin” (yes, it’s a very specific look).
Clark reluctantly tears away from his food (which is made even more difficult as he hears his youngest son chewing loudly his delicious breakfast..) and raises his head, looking simultaneously at his wife then at his boy (who wasn’t really a boy anymore). ...Of course, he has no idea what’s going on, but he acts like he does, imitating his wife’s thoughtful facial expression.
Lois says :
-Conner, you know you can ask us anything right ?
Oh. Ok there’s something the boy wants to ask but he hesitates too. Alright. Dad Clark is up to date. He confirms what his wife just said :
-Yes. Yes of course you can ask us anything.
Conner looks between his mother and father, and their gentle expression calms him a little bit. With a weak voice that is very unlike him, he says :
-It’s about (Y/N).
Lois and Clark exchange a look, and his mom says :
-You can ask us anything, of course. But if it regards certain...Matters, maybe you should talk about it with your friends ? Or with your dad. Just with him.
For a few seconds, Conner is confused.
What is she on about ?
...Until he realizes his mom misunderstood him, and his face turns utterly red.
He can’t believe she thought he wanted to ask something about...that ! As if he was gonna discuss with his parents about what happens with his girlfriend !!
Blushing more and more at the thought, Conner blurts out :
-I’m not gonna ask you anything about...that ! Especially not in front of Jon ! It’s not...I wasn’t...What happens between her and I...Stays between her and I and...wasn’t...I wasn’t...far from it...it’s not...
Happy she misunderstood her son’s nervousness, Lois chuckles a bit as she witnesses her twenty something boy getting all awkward and embarrassed and not knowing what to say.
It’s always a treat for her, when her powerful family members mumble and ramble out of embarrassment, it makes them feel more...humans and flawed.
In that moment, Clark has some terrible flashbacks of teenaged him and this almost exact scene happening with his ma and pa, and therefor, he rushes to his son’s aid and says :
-Ok moving on. Then what do you want to ask ?
Conner takes a few second to regain his countenance, and after mumbling some more about “intimate topics not being a subject of conversation with parents” he shakes his head and finally says :
-I just...Well here we go.
Conner takes a deep breath and quickly says :
-I want to take (Y/N) to a special place, only I...Well...Could I borrow your car please ? I still don’t have one and I want to pick her up for once. She always come to get me...And her dad really doesn’t like when I fly to the mansion, he’s super paranoid about their secret identities - to that comment, Clark raises his eyebrows as if to say “yeah no kidding ?” but lets his son finish - and my motorcycle needs repairs and...I just want to pick her up for once. Trying to be romantic you know ? So...Could I borrow your car ?
There’s a small silence. Lois tries to muffle her “aaawww” because she thinks her son is utterly cute, and meanwhile, Clark answers :
-That’s it ? You want to borrow the car ? Of course you can boy ! Go ahead !
Conner’s face light up, and once against, Lois has to restrain herself from embarrassing him by cooing at him as if he was a baby, but he was genuinely so cute ! She just wanted to pinch his cheek and shower him with kisses.
-Where are you going to take her ?
Clark asks, giving his wife the perfect diversion to go and fetch more eggs and Hashbrown for Jon, and therefor hiding her urge to treat her twenty six year old son like if he was a toddler.
-Oh I wanna take her to one of the field at the outskirt of Smallville, a bit further than grandma’s house. She never saw the Milky Way, living in Gotham and all. So we’re going to go stargazing.
Lois makes a strangle noise from the kitchen (her boy was just so sweet !) and Clark and Conner looks at her, a bit worried.
-You ok mom ?
Conner asks, and she comes back sitting next to him, ruffling his hair.
-Yes I am. You’re just...too sweet. (Y/N) is a lucky girl.
Conner blushes a bit, still having trouble accepting compliments...But his mom’s next few words make him blush even more :
-Though...Stargazing. Just the two of you. Hum...Don’t forget to bring protection.
-AAAAH MOOOOOM !!
Conner exclaims, as red as a tomato. Clark acts as if he didn’t hear anything and goes back to his breakfast and...Jon finally lifts his head up, saying :
-Mom’s right. Bring protection. You never know if an asteroid or something is gonna fall on ya while you stargaze ! Also, are you gonna finish your plate ?
Clark and Lois burst out in laughter in front of a very confused Jon, and a Conner who wanted to crawl into a hole and disappear...Blushing more than ever, he hands his plate to his little brother and leaves the table, as his parents still laugh like crazy.
Snatching their car key, he rushes outside and curses a bit more because why did they have to laugh so much ?!

When you received Conner’s text, the least you could say is that you were utterly surprised.
It was very rare, that he would come p...Wait.
Actually, it was the first time he came to pick you up by car.
Usually, you’d meat at Mount Justice, or he would fly to your house (which your dad hated) and then you’d use one of your car (being a Wayne had its perks) to go out.
He used his motorcycle a few time, but again, you having one too, you’d just meet somewhere and then go on a road trip or something...
Yes. It was the first time he actually drove from Metropolis to Wayne Manor to come and pick you up for a date. It was...somewhat exciting.
You didn’t know why, but there was something about him coming to get you that was just...feeling really nice.
You were looking outside from one of the first floor window when you finally heard the bell from the gigantic portal at the entrance of the estate.
You rushed downstairs to go open, but of course Alfred was there first...And so were the rest of your family.
-What are you guys doing ?
Your words startle all of them and they turn around a bit panicked, as if you just caught them redhanded while doing something illegal. Your father speaks first :
-Nothing.
He says, in the most unconvincing tone ever.
You crease your eyebrows at him and say :
-You weren’t expecting to see him before I came down, were you ? Because that would be a ridiculously stupid plan. And I think he heart enough of your threat already.
Jason, who was visiting that day, said a falsely innocent :
-Nooooooo. Of course not. We would NE-VER.
You glare at them a bit, and gesture for them to get away from the door. They obediently go out of your way and you go to open the front door, almost snarling at them.
-Don’t you have better things to do anyway ?
You ask them a bit coldly, while Alfred rolls his eyes and Dick gives you an apologetic look. They look away, as if they were down there by pure coincidence.
You turn towards the outdoor.
A car is slowly going up the path to the entrance door.
It’s a pick-up truck.
Of course it’s a pick-up truck, it’s probably Clark’s.
And it’s...oh my gods.
-Wait...Red and blue...jeez, can you be more obvious ?
Your father, who went out too and was now next to you, rolls his eyes and says :

You chuckle a bit, knowing indeed exactly what he means. And you forget to tell him to go back inside and leave you and Conner alone.
The car stops in front of the stairs and Conner gets out of it. He awkwardly straightens himself up and slowly walks up the stairs.
His eyes cross your father’s and he holds his gaze defiantly but then...
then he sees you.
A wide smile spreads across his face :
-Hey you.
He says a bit dumbly (he always felt so light hearted around you).
-Hi.
You answer with the same lovey dovey tone. He continues, giving you his hand :
-Shall we go ?
You’re about to answer when your father (now joined by the rest of your family) says, his voice cold and low, menacing :
-Go where, exactly ?
You slowly turn to him, and oh it’s utterly scary, the look you give him...you’re definitely taking that glare after him. With slow detached words you say, the anger felt in every syllables :
-I am twenty, dad. It’s none of your business where I go.
He looks at you and is about to answer, probably ready to say something stupid that every parents say like : “As long as you live under my roof, you follow my rules” or something (as if that ever happened anyway...after all, you were also taking a lot ater your mother, Catwoman), but this time, you’re the one cutting him off.
You ignore him completely and turn to Conner :
-I’m coming back babe - it’s utterly satisfying, how your dad winces at the pet name you give your boyfriend-, forgot my backpack upstairs.
You start to leave but stop before reaching the door. You turn around and glare some more at your brothers and dad before saying :
-You guys. In. Right now. Except you Dick, you can talk with Conner if you wanna, you’re the only one that isn’t annoying here. The others, inside the house. Actually, follow me, so I’m sure you’re not planning anything sneaky.
They’re about to protest, but oh the look you give them...And so they follow you to your bedroom. With a sigh you tell them :
-I thought we were over the all “watching your every move whenever you’re with your boyfriend” phase ?
Your father looks at you very seriously and says :
-I never agreed to that.
-You did when you said you’d stop trying to break us up. Still think it’s a huge asshole move by the way, not sure I forgave you yet (in this story : “They’re kind of assholes”).
Your dad grumbles an answer and turns to your brothers for support.
But they all look away...It was hard for them to let go, but they had to admit that you were old enough to make your own decisions and all...And Conner was a good guy, they really weren’t being fair.
Besides, they still actually felt bad about trying to break the two of you up (well, maybe Damian and your dad didn’t much).
You roll your eyes and give them each a small slap on the back of their head.
-I know what I’m doing. Trust me.
Jason snorts and says :
-Oh we trust you. Him on the other hand...
There’s a small silence and you sigh once again...Only one solution left for them to let go. You look at them and gather the famous Wayne smirk before saying :
-Jay, I’m twenty. If you think Conner is my first you’re gravely mistaken and I...
Tim interjects :
-WOW ! STOP ! DO NOT WANT TO KNOW THOSE INFOS ABOUT MY SISTER !! RED ALERT ! RED ALLEEERT !!
Your father looks at you, shocked (he had to realize, one day or another, you weren’t a child anymore), Jason froze and seemed to have crashed as if he was a computer, Damian has a murderous look in his eyes but is still too stunned to move....and you smirk as you leave your room.
Yup. Here’s a sure way to shut them up.
They all stand in your room, stunned, as you go back down and yell to them :
-See y’all tomorrow !
After a while, they finally de-froze. And your youngest brother says :
-Did she say she’d come back tomorrow ?!
His voice is full of worries, as he turns to your father who just manages to say :
-...Did she just say “y’all” ?
Oh God. The Kent were starting to influence you too much...
You were already far away when they finally decided to move out of your room, your father sighing nostagically a bit at the sight of a picture of you and him when you were barely four...

When you went down the stairs, you found Conner red as a tomato, discussing with Dick. You instantly narrowed your eyes at your brother and said :
-Oh, not you too Dickie ?!
Your oldest brother turned to you and smiled widely, of a joyful and innocent smile :
-What ? Can’t give advices to a friend ? And can’t threaten my sister’s boyfriend to kill him if he hurts her ?
Unsure of wether he’s kidding or not, you just stare at him and slowly takes Conner’s hand. You two get back to the car, and you ask him :
-What did he say to you exactly ?
-Nothing !
Conner’s answer is too rushed for you to believe him...but you don’t feel like getting the truth out of him. Nope. You just want to enjoy your day.
You watch your oldest brother wave at you as you leave, a way too satisfied smile on his face...

The drive is oh so pleasant.
You talk about anything and nothing, and sometimes, you just stay silent, enjoying each others’ presence. Listening to your favorite song (getting a bit too turned up when “Africa” by Toto gets on...).
At some point, you decide to lay your head on his shoulder, and put your hand on his thigh and Conner can’t help but smile stupidly. Your mere presence always made him feel so jolly, so relaxed...
Finally, you arrive where he wanted to take you.
It’s a beautiful field in the middle of nowhere, near a forrest. You can hear water a bit further, lost in the trees, probably a river of some sort.
There, you start by having a picnic.
Conner prepared some sandwiches and it’s just so romantic and cute ! And oh it’s been so long since he had the occasion to be romantic and cute with you...

Form Podcast Hightlights! 1x02 and 1x03
You can listen to the episodes here or on Spotify but in case you don’t want to listen to podcasts for an hour or just prefer to read things, here are the highlights from both episodes.
1x02: Some Assembly Required
Featuring: Mitch Iverson (writer), Christine Bian (prop/character design supervisor), Tim Hendrick (head writer)
There wasn’t as much discussion as the last time and these eps had quite a bit of dead air to the point where a couple times I thought I’d paused it by accident. The guests apologize for this, “sometimes we just get so sucked in watching these episodes!”
Christine designed the lions!
The blue lion slippers were passed down from Paladin to Paladin and “never get stinky or anything because they’re magical Altean slippers”. “Even Alfor didn’t know all the things the lion slippers did!”. This entire segment about the slippers is pretty great.
On that note, everyone gets lion slippers, and the three discuss that Shiro may seem like the least likely to appreciate the slippers but really he’s probably “the most secretly into comforting things, like a cashmere bathrobe and stuff”.
JDS/LM were adamant about the scene where the paladins make their way to their lions be a tribute to the original Voltron series. There are a lot of jokes about the upper arm strength needed to hang onto those bars all the way down.

The fave lions of each of the guests: Christine: blue, because he was the first lion designed and was the “learning” lion for them. Tim likes yellow because he wishes he could run into things. Mitch chose green because invisibility and shooting vines would be pretty cool.
This scene came up and all 3 guests got very coy and said something to the effect of “that’s not the only time yalmors comes up on the show, and it’s a word to keep in mind”. hmmmmmm.

Designing the gladiator was tough because they wanted a balance between goofy, like power rangers, and serious. Basically just like Voltron, finding that balance!
Pre-production (scripts, BGs, character designs, storyboards, basically everything that needs to happen before animation) lasted an ENTIRE YEAR.

Tell me about it. Marvel’s turning characters the general audience has never even heard of into superstars, all the while each movie has a secondary genre. Iron Man is a techno thrill, Thor is a fantasy, Guardians of the Galaxy is a space opera, and so on and so forth. Meanwhile DC is so invested in trying to recreate ‘The Dark Knight’ and leaning on Batman so hard that Justice League looks like someone thing opened a week or so after the first X-Men movie. All the while they can’t even get Superman right.
Yeah, Wonder Woman LOOKS good, but the fact that the trailers have shown almost nothing but action scenes and where there is dialogue Diana is mostly silent isn’t a good sign. While almost everyone agrees that Wonder Woman was the best part of Batman v Superman, it really isn’t saying much considering how much of an outhouse fire that movie was. So far, despite WB and DC’s desperate claims, all the things that made Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad suck are going to make Wonder Woman and Justice League suck too.
I hope I’m wrong, but given DC’s track record I can’t bring myself to be the least bit excited about these movies. As a fan of these characters and everything they represent, I can’t tell you how much that kills me.

2019 BMW X7 Review: The Best Big SUV Yet
Your first thought upon viewing the BMW X7: The massive front grille turns this amazing full-size SUV in the direction of self-parody. But step into the cockpit, where you don’t see the schnozz, and you’ll find a wealth of performance, handling, and driver-assist features that make this the best big SUV you can buy, at least until the next-generation (2020) Mercedes-Benz GLS arrives in quantity. What makes the X7 worth the better part of $100,000 is the seamless Level 2 self-driving with automatic lane changes, the big cockpit displays, the camera systems, the fabulous seats, the ride and handling, and reasonable third-row room.
The biggest (non-grille) downside is cockpit switchgear that has become at once prettier, harder to use, and harder to read. Also, a car this big would be more socially conscious if a plug-in hybrid version was offered in the first wave of X7 shipments rather than waiting for 2020 or 2021. And: Before you commit to lease payments up to $1,600, make sure you really need the marginally bigger interior the X7 provides. The BMW X5 is nearly as big in most ways unless you must have that third seat. On price, the X7 is clearly bigger, as much as $122,000, and even something of a public service: BMW is doing more to claw back money from the rich than Bernie and AOC combined.
Fabulous on Highways and Back Roads
I test-drove the 2019 X7. The 2020 model is virtually the same, adding a higher-power M design version. The BMW X7 is in its element gliding along the highway on 400-mile treks, whether you drive it yourself or engage the Active Driving Assistant Pro self-driving feature and let radars, cameras, and microprocessors do the work. Perhaps surprisingly — if you don’t know BMW-Audi-Mercedes-Porsche SUV engineering — it’s also quite at home on country roads as long as you factor in the 5,500 pounds of weight.
There are a lot of cars that have Level 2 self-driving, meaning your car paces the car in front up to the speed you set using adaptive cruise control and keeps the car in the middle of the lane (lane centering assist), while you lightly keep hands on the steering wheel. BMW does it as well as anyone. I was impressed by the auto-lane-change feature. Tap the turn signal, the car checks to the rear and side, and if the coast is clear, shifts lanes left or right. Not once was there an issue with the car trying to shift lanes at the same time a car behind was coming up quickly. Although it doesn’t hurt to look in the side mirror just to be sure, as some Tesla drivers have learned.
An X7 slides through the primordial soup. Actually, an off-road course at the BMW Performance Center outside Palm Springs, California. The X7 fords up 20 inches of water.
Long-haul driving is helped by the quality of BMW’s seats, the optional seat massagers, the side window shades in row two, heated and vented seats, and even the pillows attached to the headrests. At night, the mood lighting makes the car feel like a private jet. The console cupholders warm or cool drinks. USB jacks are abundant. Onboard Wi-Fi is available. Many of these features are optional (and desirable, and not cheap), and BMW’s close competitors offer many of the same features and options.
The mondo front grille is mostly trompe l’oeil (trick of the eye) that makes you suspect the X7 is bigger in every way than BMW’s other SUVs. It took me a day of driving to realize that the X7 is fine on twisty back roads because it’s no wider, just a bit longer, and about 500 pounds heavier than the X5, a happy back-road-warrior.
Among European automakers, there’s an arms race to have the family SUV be an off-roader and river-crosser. BMW has a package that lets you climb rocks and then cross a stream 20 inches deep. It’s an option. If you want to tow a trailer, you can, and with the trailer package, you can tow 7,700 pounds.
BMW’s self-driving suite, the Driving Assistance Professional Package, is slick; it even changes lanes by tapping the turn signal. (Note that mail truck is being towed and not wrong-way driving.) And only Wikipedia presents more information than BMW’s head-up display.
BMW in the Lead on Tech
BMW in the US has been the ultimate driving machine for half a half-century. Now it dazzles you with technical brilliance as well. Example: If you get the surround camera package, when you park, you see the view ahead (if you’re pulling in going forward) on the big center stack display side-by-side with a stitched 360-degree overhead view; as you get closer to the car in front or to the garage wall, the view-ahead camera angle rises up to help gauge the final couple feet, all automagically. Or if you get the parking assistant option, you can let the car ease itself into parallel or perpendicular spaces. If you do it yourself, nearby vehicles, walls, raised curbs, or light stanchions shown onscreen radiate green-yellow-or-red force fields outward to indicate how close you are. When you’re away from the car, the cameras let you monitor its well-being from your phone. At a time when even some mainstream cars — Ford Explorer, say — have auto-parking, BMW marshals overwhelming-show-of-force technology to make the case for premium cars.
The dual 12-inch displays (instrument panel and center stack) allow multiple panes of information. If you want, the center display can be dialed back to, say, just the moving map. The iDrive controller works well and you have multiple ways to interact: the control wheel, a finger-writing pad on top of the wheel, adjacent buttons to summon common features, voice input, and gesture controls including a Tinder-like swipe to answer the phone. Okay, gesture control may seem like a stupid pet trick, but BMW’s point is: We give you every way possible to interact with the car. The modes you don’t like? Don’t use them.
The head-up display is big with lots of information that you can choose to show or hide. When the HUD maps out the lanes you need to be in for the exit, it’s pretty hard to mess up. BMW monitors the driver for inattention via an instrument panel camera, which is faster and more accurate in determining if your attention has drifted. You won’t like being ratted out, but you’ll live longer. Most of BMW’s USB jacks are Type C, which is the way the industry is heading. You may need to buy a $5 adapter now, but your next phone will probably be Type C at both ends, and you’re ready.
And this is tech of a sort: the Panoramic Sky Lounge LED Roof creates six LED light patterns in the roof — white, blue, orange, bronze, lilac, and green — for more enjoyable nighttime driving.
BMW X7 center console: The function selectors forward of the iDrive controller are blocked by the optional crystal shifter, and the button cluster lost its find-by-shape pronounced vee-design.
Cockpit Controls Won’t Please Everyone
When a car costs this much, the owner has high expectations. Repeat buyers may be disappointed with the direction taken by the interface to the iDrive controls and control surfaces. Function buttons to control entertainment, phone, map, and navigation were arrayed in side-by-side vee shapes with the home button in between. You could tell without looking if you were touching the front or rear button by the way it sloped, and the left or right button set by where the flat home button was in relation. The buttons now are hard to access because the driver’s hand has to reach around the gearshift selector.
On the steering wheel, buttons are now finished in brushed satin chrome with black lettering that glows a weakish red at night. Drivers over 40 with imperfect eyesight may find them a challenge, especially those who don’t use their reading half-glasses while driving.
The X7 includes no adaptive cruise control in the base version, reserving it for the $1,700 self-drive package called the Driving Assistance Professional Package. BMW should include adaptive cruise control in the base price as Honda and Toyota do so the basics are all there: ACC as well as the provided lane departure warning, blind-spot detection, forward collision warning, and auto-emergency braking.
BMW does give you 10 free years of telematics service (not 10 years of free data) so emergency calling and crash notification are always there, BMW can download software updates, and you can reach out to the dealer to set up service. But there is no Android Auto, and access to Apple CarPlay costs $80 a year (after a free first year).
Cockpit fit and finish are fabulous on the X7.
BMW X7 Trim Walk
A basic X7 is $75K. But move up the ladder to the V8 and the M version, and/or add in as much as $20K in options, and you can easily surpass $110,000. The X7 SAV, or sports activity vehicle, as BMW calls it, comes in three variants with an eight-speed automatic transmission and air suspension. Plus lots of options packages and standalone options. All models are all-wheel drive with three rows of seating along with with Active Driving Assistant (daytime pedestrian protection, frontal collision warning with city collision mitigation, lane departure warning, active blind-spot detection, and rear cross-traffic alert), adaptive LED headlamps with auto high beams, panoramic moonroof, ambient cockpit lighting with 12 lighting themes, telematics with a Wi-Fi hotspot, and 21-inch alloy wheels.
BMW X7 xDrive 40i ($74,895 including $995 freight). The 3.0-liter 335 hp turbo inline-six-cylinder engine is rated at 5.8 seconds 0-60 mph with an EPA rating of 20 mpg city / 25 mpg highway / 22 mpg combined on premium fuel. The base audio system has 10 speakers, a 205-watt amplifier, satellite, and HD radio.
BMW X7 xDrive 50i ($93,95). The 4.4-liter turbo V8 reaches 60 mph in 5.2 seconds and is EPA-rated at 15 / 21 / 17 mpg. Audio is branded Harman Kardon with 16 speakers (464 watts).
BMW X7 M50i ($100,595). The V8 hits 523 hp and goes 0-60 in 4.5 seconds (EPA rating pending). Standard alloy wheels are 22 inches. There even-nicer upholstery and trim choices. Note to enthusiasts: While there’s an M in the name, this is not the same as an M in front of the series number (M3 versus X7 M50i). But it will still outperform every most other big SUV currently on the road.
There are a half-dozen options packages for the X7 from $800 to $4,100. The Premium Package ($2,800) has the HUD, rear side shades, soft close doors, 12-speaker Harman audio, soft-close doors, and gesture control. The Executive Package ($4,100 on the six-cylinder) incorporates the Premium Package plus the Panoramic Sky Lounge LED Roof, heated and cooled cupholders, and “hand-made, diamond-cut glass trim elements” for the shifter, audio volume control, start button, and iDrive wheel.
The Driver Assistance Package ($1,700) is a must-have twice over: once because BMW omits adaptive cruise control from the base price and secondly because BMW rolls in a raft of other truly useful assists including Level 2 self-driving. The Cold Weather Package ($1,200) has heated front seat armrests and steering, and five-zone climate control. A Luxury Seating Package is $1,600.
You can order one or the other of these two: an Off-Road Package ($1,650) has specific modes for sand, rock, gravel, and snow); or the Parking Assistance Package ($800) with automated parallel parking, surround-view of the car while driving or while parked and way from the car, plus a video drive recorder.
Standalone options included Night Vision ($2,300), a trailer hitch that boosts towing capacity to 7,500 pounds ($550), a leather dashboard ($850), scented cockpit aromas (350), second-row captain’s chairs ($850), Alcantara (synthetic suede headliner, $1,000), “Shadowline” trim ($350), rear entertainment ($2,200), M Sport brakes ($650), and integral active steering ($1,150). All these have some degree of utility and can also drive the six-cylinder version to $87,000. More if you add premium paint (up to $1,950), pothole-finder 22-inch wheels ($1,300), specialty seat leathers ($3,700), or an M Sport design package ($4,350) that is about show more than go (it does include an aero kit to glue the car to the road at near-Autobahn speeds). The most costly X7 I managed to price reached $121,845, about $1,600 a month on a lease.
BMW X7 is 203 inches to the X5’s 194 inches. Width and height are essentially the same.
The Big SUV: What Took BMW So Long?
The Berlin Wall had barely come down when BMW first pondered an SUV, the X5. It arrived in 1999 and was a more immediate hit than the first Mercedes-Benz ML (now GLE) that rode like a truck (because it was built on a truck frame), or the first Lexus RX, 1998. BMW added the compact X3 as a 2004 model, the subcompact X1 in 2008, and fastback SUVs (X6, X4) along the way. The X7 was almost a decade in gestation if you count the years of internal deliberations and the five years from public announcement to first shipments this year. In the meantime, Mercedes-Benz ruled with the full-size GL (now GLS) that dates to the 2007 model year. The first X7 barely beat the third-generation GLS to market.
Why did BMW wait? For certain, BMW wanted to be sure the big honker would handle decently. Perhaps it had doubts about the propriety of building such a big vehicle at a time when many parts of the world have concerns about the car’s impact on the planet. You might approach 30 mpg in very cautious highway driving with the six-cylinder if you stick to the speed limit), and with a 21.9-gallon tank, cruise 550 miles or more between refills. Actually, if you gauge your speed by the amount of road and wind noise, you’ll think you’re doing 55, look at the speedometer, and realize you’re rolling at 85.
When you parallel park the X7, you’ll know it’s bigger: 203 versus 194 inches long. The 122-inch wheelbase, 5 inches more than the X5, smooths out the highway ride. Interior head, leg and shoulder room are no more than an inch better for the X7. Rear legroom, often the measurement that most determines rear-seat comfort, rounds to 38 inches for both, fair-to-good for a full-size SUV, but almost 7 inches less than the decade-only Ford Flex. Put all but the front seats down and the X7 trumps the X5 on cargo space, 90 to 72 cubic feet. But with all the seats up, there is a puny 13 feet behind the X7’s third-row versus 33.9 for the X5.
Be sure to try the third row for comfort. I’d describe it this way: good headroom, decent legroom, seat too low to the floor (but that allows for decent headroom). If you want a comfortable third row, either go to something like a Ford Expedition that is 2 feet longer, or get a — gasp — minivan. In other words, the third row is okay but you might have expected a little more room. The third row does get its own sunroof.
BMW offers two V8 engines with 523 or 465 hp (X7 M50i, X7 xDrive50i) or or an inline six 335 hp (X7 xDrive 40i). Choose your 0-60 time: 4.5, 5.2, or 5.8 seconds 0-60 mph.
BMW X7 vs. Mercedes GLS and the Field

Among full-size luxury/sport SUVs, they all do a good job wrapping you in leather seating surfaces and making the straight-line driving experience joyful. Take a look at the direct and wannabe competitors:
The US-flagged brands, for the most part, do not pretend to be SUV versions of the brands’ sport sedans. Most come in big and bigger editions, including the Cadillac Escalade (204 and 224 inches long) and Lincoln Navigator (210 and 222 inches long), with the ability to tow at least 7,900 pounds. They weigh 5,500-6,200 pounds and use body-on-frame rather than a weight-saving unibody construction. The Navigator is new for 2019 and gets high marks for luxury appointments (even in this class), straight-line acceleration, second- and third-row room, and highway ride thanks to wheelbases of 123 and 132 inches. (The new Lincoln Aviator is more X5-sized.)
The Chevrolet Suburban, Ford Expedition, and GMC Yukon (especially Denali trim line) can be considered luxury vehicles: You can easily get the price over $70K, twice the average of a new car. The unibody Buick Enclave (204 inches long) and new Cadillac XT6 (199 inches) are less bulky than the Escalade-Yukon. Some reviewers found the XT6 didn’t match the luxe feel of the equally new, and larger, Navigator.
The Audi Q7 at 199.6 inches is borderline full-size with a tasteful cockpit and excellent technology; it is more of an X5 competitor. The Audi Q8 is a fastback Q7 that is shorter despite the higher numbering, and more of a BMW X6 competitor. The Porsche Cayenne is a midsize model with only two rows, but it is a Porsche, which means handling and cachet (also a pricey options sheet).
There are also off-road-centric big SUVs such as the aging Toyota Land Cruiser living off the same design since the 2008 model year and the sibling Lexus LX, with V8 engines and snug third rows. The Land Cruiser has reliability and exclusivity on its side: US sales average just 3,000 a year (although global sales dating to 1951 just passed 10 million). These vehicles are not remotely BMW X7 / Mercedes GLS competitors except that if you buy one, it will probably be the only such vehicle in the prep school pickup lane, and exclusivity has value. Just remember: 15 mpg on a good day.
Acura’s biggest SUV, the MDX, is more of a midsize three-row SUV at 196 inches, it’s aging (the third generation dates to MY 2014) and the next-gen MDX arrives within the year, but it’s a solid value. The well-regarded Lexus RX 350 L is an even smaller, still midsize, three-row. From Korea, the new Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride are also midsize three-row SUVs and exceptionally well outfitted for the price, offer Level 2 self-driving, for less than $50K; they define “class above” SUVs. That reduces to one the significant Asian competitors: Infiniti, with the 210-inch QX80 featuring a roomy interior, good cargo capacity, and outstanding fit and finish; handling will not be as inspired as the X7’s.
The Land Rover Range Rover has evolved to a beautiful car inside with plenty of room (especially the $110K long-wheelbase model), and superb off-road and wading capabilities.
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS is the closest competitor to the X7.
That leaves the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS, now arriving at dealers. It offers six- or eight-cylinder engines and dual 12-inch dashboard displays (same as BMW), excellent handling and safety, and a starting price, like BMW, in the low- to mid-$70s, in part because so many desirable features are extra, such as the E-Active Body Control that scans the road ahead for bumps and continuously adjusts the adaptive suspension. A loaded V8 GLS 550 reaches $120,000 and the AMG version starts at $125K. Specs suggest the GLS will be more comfortable for passengers aft of the first row compared with the X7, and a look at the front end shows one of the few big SUVs that haven’t succumbed to the big-grille fetish.
What to choose? Right now, the 2019/2020 BMW X7 is the best premium big SUV you can buy. Most likely the X7 and GLS will separate themselves from the field for those whose criteria include great handling, a tasteful interior, good passenger room in all three rows, state-of-the-art driver-assist features including Level 2 autonomy, and comprehensive safety features to avoid, deal with, and reach out after accidents. Look at the Lincoln Navigator long-wheelbase if you need to carry three rows of people most of the time and you’re less concerned about spirited driving on country roads. Or about getting it in the garage at night.
Before you commit, take one last look at the X5. Unless you must have three seating rows or need 7,500 not 6,600 pounds of towing capacity, the X5 is a match for the X7 in interior spaciousness (first two rows), technology features, and engines. Either one, X7 or X5, is fine with the six-cylinder engine. Where the BMW X5 and X3 are the top SUVs in their categories, the X7 may wind up sharing the crown.

A couple of weeks ago a lady ran a red light and hit my car. Her insurance company took a week to get me a rental and two weeks later finally go look at my car and determined a total loss. The adjustor was pretty rude about the whole situation (yes I know that's their job) and started in on how my car has extensive hail damage which is not true. There were some dents from hail on the hood and trunk lid but every used car in Oklahoma has hail damage since we have had several storms over the past few years. He said that they would have paid $5900 for the car but because of the hail damage they will only pay $1250 which is ridiculous. I've done my research and the average cost of my car within 200 miles is $6000 and I have received one estimate on repairing all of the damage was $2000 yet he claims it will cost $7000. The dealership I bought the car from just sold a vehicle just like mine with hail damage for $5000. The engine and everything else on the car was perfect. When I told him all of my info he laughed at me and said oh by the way we are only paying for your rental till the 9th so you need to settle quickly, take it or leave it so I said I was calling a lawyer. I'm waiting on the lawyer to call me back but I just want to know, what should I look for to help me. I've already looked at the market in my area and have record of the prices for the same make and model. I can't take it to a body shop because the car is crushed. Any info appreciated.""

We Best Love 2. The tension is killing me. Honestly, it’s all down to the lead actors (because the story is naff) and the fact that we can’t trust Taiwan to end happily. I’m actually grateful it’s only six episodes, otherwise I might not survive.
9. Show that’s pretty much what I expected?
Lovely Writer. I’m really liking it a lot, but it’s basically exactly what I expected from the original trailer. Which is fine because i expected to enjoy it and I do.
10. Anything else I’m watching tangential to BL?
Doing a retrospective of older Japanese BL (aka live action yaoi manga adaptations). Having a devil of a time finding Melody of Our Love. It’s been... interesting... Japan loves a murder-gay so I really have to make sure it’s actually yaoi or things go rotten fast (there’s no saving the hair, though).
Ossans Love wasn’t what I expected. I’m still not sure if I even liked it.
Stage of Love and Takumi-kun were interesting if ultimately unsuccessful as adaptations.
Seven Days is absolutely the best (and most faithful to the source material).
Have side tripped into early Korean gay short films as well. They aren’t BL, mostly just gay af. Some of them have happy endings and most of them have better kisses than Korea screens in BL. A few of these I had seen before but so early on in my Asian drama watching obsession that I didn’t give them their due, so I’m going back to doll out second chances. So far I’ve done:
Long Time No See (better on a rewatch)
Private Lessons (cute)
Secret Spectacles (odd)
My Personal Trainer (fine)
I’ve been able to find most of them on Dailymotion or Dramacool. Although I’m still looking for Chronicles of a Boy.
