Post Age of Ultron (WandaNat)
Summary: Wanda discovers a secret about The Black Widow after a mission.
Word Count: 4.5K
Content: Talks of Hydra, The Red Room, Feelings, Tramua and flashbacks.
Tumblr media
Wanda was still learning a lot since moving to America and becoming an Avenger.
Much to the dismay of Clint Barton, she discovered how much more trashy American reality TV is compared to other countries. Choosing to watch two toxic people argue while shitfacrd was a late-night pleasure for Wanda.
She also found her niche of new sitcoms to enjoy. Ones like The Office and Parks and Rec. She tried Always Sunny, but Wanda COULD NOT get into it. That disappointed Maria Hill, who liked that one. But not as much as How I Met Your Mother.
Regardless, Malcom in the Middle was a new favorite for Wanda Maximoff.
She also found new oddities about her teammates. Like Sams love of naming his little gadgets. Steve's late-night ballroom dancing practices. Vision curiosity over his humanoid teeth and Thor's love of all things Pop-Tarts and sugary sweets before heading off-world.
Lastly, Wanda most recently discovered something about Natasha Romanoff that almost no one knew.
Natasha Romanoff had a tattoo.
Wanda couldn't believe it when she saw it. But then again, Wanda was never supposed to see it. She only happened to see it because a mission went wonky...
Since joining the team, Wanda had one goal in mind aside from the obvious for the greater good hero crap. Wanda wanted to eliminate Hydra and their bases.
Joining Hydra was a mistake. It gave her, her powers but at the cost of her young adult years. At the expense of her sanity. She lost herself and then her brother.
Now, she was slowly discovering who Wanda was. Who Wanda Maximoff wanted to be. One of the first things on that list was to take down Hydra.
So that's what led Steve, Sam, Wanda, and Natasha in route to the snowy mountains of France. It wasn't the first mission Wanda was cleared to go on. But it was the first time she was on with Natasha Romanoff.
The Black Widow.
To say Natasha intimidated the Sokovain would be an understatement. Wanda was frightened of Natasha. Even if Wanda could clearly use her powers to her advantage, she didn't want to do that anymore.
At least not to her teammates and friends.
Besides, the pair had barely spoken since the fall of Wanda's home country, but yet Natasha's red jacket still hung in Wanda's closet.
They shared the same floor and went to movie nights at the same time, but aside from a look over and a tight-lipped smile. Natasha never gave Wanda anything more.
Not even when Wanda gave everyone on the team a handwritten apology for her actions in the rise and fall of Ultron.
She never received anything back from Natasha.
And yet.
Natasha chose to sit next to Wanda on the flight to France.
Wanda smiled as the redhead looked over the younger woman. Wanda did the same as her eyes traveled over Natasha's face. She couldn't deny how beautiful the Widow was. Her green eyes and striking features were hard to look away from. But that's what benefitted Natasha when she was in the Red Room. Use any and everything to your advantage.
Natasha wasn't doing that now.
She was just being herself. She wanted to talk to Wanda.
So when she saw Wanda's eyes leave her lips and get visibly nervous, Natasha decided to speak up.
"Hi." She started. Simple enough.
"Hi." Wanda softly spoke back.
Natasha took a second before speaking.
"I want you to know that I know this isn't your first mission. But it's your first one with me since..." Wanda nodded as Natasha steadied herself. "I just want you to know that you can count on me to have your back." Wanda smiled at that. "I know you'll have mine." Natasha ended that with a reassuring nod and a look away before looking back when the witch spoke up.
"Thank you, Natasha."
"Of course."
With that, Natasha cleared her throat and started looking at her widow bites. Double-checking them. Even though they had been thoroughly looked over by the Widow herself before the team even left the compound.
Wanda didn't know what to say anyways. Everything that had just happened was shocking to her.
The most shocking part might have been when Natasha didn't leave when she got done with her gadgets; instead, she remained sat in her seat next to Wanda.
Wanda racked her brain, thinking of anything else to say, but nothing came out when she opened her mouth.
But finally, when she was about push the words "have you ever seen the Dick Van Dyke show?" through her lips, Steve called the team up to go over the mission one last time.
The mission? Infiltrate the located Hydra Base. Save prisoners, if any. Capture the goons inside and try not to kill anyone. However, if it comes to it, do what you have to.
Steve made a better speech, but you get the jist.
When the wheels touched down, the group decided to split off. Through the coms, Wanda could hear Steve and Sam finding guys left and right. But that wasn't the case for her and Natasha.
Their side of the base was empty. Cells and rooms had been cleared out, long left abandoned. Dust and dirt had gathered. Flashbacks came to the front of Wanda's mind, but she pushed down the screaming and the trauma that came with it just in time for Natasha's thoughts to be loud.
Begging for Wanda to read them.
The Black Widow tried to focus on the mission, but for the last couple of months, Natasha had been silently struggling.
After mouthing off to Capitol Hill, Natasha came to Avengers Tower under Fury's orders. She stayed and made herself useful to the cause at hand, however, before and in between Ultron happening. Natasha had thought she found solace in someone after her and Maria split. But even after Natasha begged for them to go with her. It wouldn't work.
Nothing Natasha did worked.
So when a little witch made Natasha relive her nightmares, it didn't anger Natasha. It made her feel weak and small, like she deserved it.
So all this time when, Wanda felt like Natasha wasn't making an effort or ignoring her. Wanda technically wasn't wrong. It, however, wasn't because Natasha hated Wanda she was just dealing with her own shit.
"Natasha?" Wanda whispered when she noticed that the Widow wasn't walking next to her anymore. Instead, she was severely feet back looking into a cell.
Wanda walked back and saw what Natasha was staring at. A stuffed pink bear laid face down in the middle room. Covered in dirt and dried blood.
Wanda didn't say anything. She and Natasha had lived something similar. She just forced her eyes to pull away from the bear and look at Natasha, rubbing the left side of her ribs with her right hand, mumbling something to herself before remembering where she was, and what she was supposed to be doing. She cleared her throat and looked at Wanda.
"We should get moving."
Again, Natasha's thoughts were begging to be viewed, but Wanda ignored them and followed Natasha.
"Did you find it yet?" Sams voice came over coms. "We're almost at the drives now. If there's no one to save or take, prepare to evac in five." Natasha said as she and Wanda stopped before a room storing this base's secrets.
Wanda lit up the room with her magic before deeming it safe for Natasha to flick the switch on. "Is that new?" She asked when Wanda lowered her hands. "Steve, Vision, and I have been trying to come up with inventive ways to use my powers."
Natasha nodded as she put the thumb drive into the computer in the corner of the room.
"That's right," Natasha said. "I can see you lifting him from my window." That surprised Wanda. She had no idea Natasha had been watching them after team training ended. "You're doing good." Natasha offered a genuine smile to the Sokovian, who tried her best to hide the red on her cheeks.
Natasha noticed but didn't comment on it.
Instead, she turned to look at the files loading up on the monitor. Folders and folders full of information on this Hydra bases dealings.
What test they ran. Who they tested it on. What bodies were traded for and to whom.
It was all horrible.
Natasha's eyes watched each document and picture flick by her. The progress bar at the bottom of the screen was getting closer and closer to 100% when a picture of a young blonde girl flew by.
Natasha leaned forward.
No.. It couldn't be..
Wanda saw how Natasha's whole body language changed. She saw how her green eyes changed from focused to scared. Before Wanda could comment on it. A loud bang was heard from outside the door down the hall.
Instantly, Natasha rose to her feet, gun drawn. She looked over at Wanda with raised hands. Ready to fight. Natasha nodded to Wanda and then back to the computer and whispered. "Stay here. Make sure it gets to 100% and then take it with you to the quinjet. I'll be there."
Wanda felt like she should stop Natasha. Or that they should go together, but the words never left her mouth as Natasha rounded the doorframe, disappearing from sight.
As Wanda waited, Natasha quietly stalked her way to where the noise had came from. Her breathing was slow and calculated as she kept her gun in front of her. She listened for any voices or footsteps that might give away whoever was around. But no noise was made.
Natasha turned around and was about to head back when a woman wearing a grey Hydra outfit emerged from the shadows with a gun in their hand—firing two rounds at Natasha before they took off running.
Natasha used her quick reflexes to get up onto her feet and immediately started chasing after the person who just shot at her. "I got one running west," Natasha yelled in the coms. "Heading your way, Wanda."
Wanda's head shot up at learning that piece of information, and stood up from the computer to rush out the doorway. Without thinking about Wanda used her magic to stop the Hydra agent. Immobilizing their body, sending them crashing to the floor. The gun sliding away from their hand.
Natasha stopped next to the fallen body and bent down to turn the woman's body over. Natasha saw how the woman's eyes were red. Wanda had her under. "She's scared," Wanda spoke up for the woman.
That's why she ran. Natasha thought as she looked over the woman's blonde hair and at the features on that dawned her face.
Memories came to the front of her mind as her fingers itched to touch the side of her ribs again.
Natasha shook them away and swallowed before standing back up with a groan. The sharp pain rushed through her body as the adrenaline started coming down. Natasha winced and placed her hand on her side where the pain was coming from.
"You're bleeding."
Natasha looked into Wanda's concerned green eyes and didn't move as Wanda stepped closer to her. Walking right over the now incapacitated Hydra goon. Natasha wanted to take a step back away from Wanda but froze when Wanda's soft hands placed themselves on Natasha's body. Her hands gripped Natasha's hips as she bent down to take a closer look at the wound.
"It looks like the bullet just grazed you. Did you not feel it?" Wanda looked up at Natasha, who just shrugged. "I didn't even realize."
Wanda accepted the answer because she could start to see that pushing Natasha would push her away. So, instead, Wanda nodded to herself and raised her hand to Natasha's wound.
"I've been working on something.. Do you trust me?" Wanda asked the one person whom most people could never see Natasha trusting. "Yes," Natasha said without hesitation. Wanda hid a blush at that before continuing.
She raised her hand higher and brought it closer to Natasha's bleeding side. "It won't hurt."
Natasha watched as red wisps extended themselves from Wanda's hand and landed on the marking of the bullet. Before her eyes, Natasha watched as Wanda started patching the wound as if she were stitching her body. "Oh my.. Wanda..." Natasha couldn't believe it, and yet her wound was now sown shut with a red glow around it.
Wanda looked at what she did and smiled. She was proud of herself. So when she looked up, and saw Natasha smiling back down. Wanda smiled brighter. "That's amazing," Natasha said as Wanda stood up. Her hands were still on the Widow's body. "Thank you!" Natasha looked at Wanda with newfound respect and admiration.
And before she knew it, Natasha's eyes traveled from Wanda's green eyes to her pink lips. She started scanning every inch of the Sokovain's face in a new way.
Wanda wasn't sure if what she was seeing was actually happening, so it was best not to comment on it. However, she did notice that slight fall from Natasha's lips when Wanda removed her hands from her.
"When we get back, you'll have to get it checked out. My magic won't hold it forever... At least not that I know of." Wanda chuckled at that last part, making Natasha crack a laugh for the first time in a long time.
The nice eye-darting moment between the two had to come to an end when the prisoner groaned from the floor. They were still unconscious, thanks to Wanda. But needing to be moved.
"I'll check the hard drive if you want to..." Natasha didn't need to say anymore as Wanda effortlessly lifted the prisoner with her powers. Natasha smiled at the easy use of her powers and subconsciously rubbed the side of her ribs above the area where she had been shot once again—an action Wanda had picked up on.
Perhaps it was a nervous habit of Natasha's?
Maybe a tic?
Wanda didn't know, but when she saw Natasha do it again, she sat back down in the chair in front of the monitor. The screen sitting on an image of an experiment being ran on a young kid.
The progress bar below sitting at 100%.
Wanda watched as Natasha's body tensed, followed by her thoughts becoming louder and louder.
_
The flight went by quicker than Wanda thought it would.
She wanted to sit and talk with Natasha but couldn't when Natasha landed herself in the pilot seat. Wanda was sure she wouldn't have been if the Widow told the team about her getting shot, but Natasha didn't.
Instead, when Wanda and Natasha arrived with the unconscious Hydra goon, Steve and Sam had no idea that Natasha was in a fight. Something about the coms failing right after the download started. Steve asked Natasha if she was fine, and Wanda watched her teammate lie and put on a brave face.
So Natasha flew the team back.
When they landed, Sam went to start a report on the mission while Wanda went with Steve to take the prisoner to holding. Natasha went to the medical unit to get her wound looked over.
At least, that's what Wanda thought.
To no surprise but Wandas, Natasha headed straight to her room. She locked the door and went to her bathroom. She opened a cabinet and pulled out her own med kit. She rested it on the counter as her nerves began to calm down. The pain worked its way through her soft and battered body as her suit was slowly peeled off, hitting the floor.
There, Natasha stood in her private bathroom, scanning over her semi-naked body. What's been done to it by others. What's been done is by her own hands. Scars and wounds healed but still leave a mark.
She brings her fingers up over her newest wound and lets the bit of undried blood drip onto her middle finger before she rubs it into her skin.
The red staining her.
Natasha brings her face up from her fingers to look back at the mirror. Natasha realizes just how close the bullet was. Had it been appropriately aimed and higher, it would've gone right through the middle of Natasha's first and only tattoo.
On the side of Natasha's ribs were two incredibly detailed fireflies. One was slightly bigger than the other.
"Look, forest stars!"
"Yeah! You know what? Those are actually part of the Lampyridae family. And the glow that you see, that comes from a chemical reaction called... bioluminescence... Come on time for dinner!"
"I want Mac and Cheese."
"Natasha..?"
Natasha, startled, jumped back and away from the shut bathroom door. Covering herself before, she immediately closed her eyes and got upset at her actions once she realized it was Wanda on the other side.
Had she not heard the witch enter her room?
"I was calling your name over and over, but you didn't hear me." The witch answered. "I came to check on you. I went to the medical wing and... and you never made it. So I knocked on your door before letting... myself.. in..." Wanda tried to laugh to cover the light criminal work she had done. Even then, she opened and closed her mouth, but before Natasha could do anything, Wanda asked: "Are you okay? Do you need help?"
Natasha stood with her bodysuit held in her right hand. A part of her was yelling at her to put it on and send Wanda away. Fix yourself up alone and get back to training. But there was the other half. The one who was exhausted and hurt. The one who needed help.
That voice won out.
"Wa-Wanda..." Natasha's voice was cracked before she cleared it. "Yes?" Wanda answered with a voice of surprise and concern. But then Natasha didn't speak. Instead, there was a click of the door as Natasha removed her hand from the lock. "Come in.." She quietly called out to the Sokovian, who now wore a set of grey sweats, gingerly placed her hand on the knob before turning it slowly, opening the door.
"Natasha..." Wanda hitched her breath as her eyes became focused on the woman standing before her. Only wearing a black sports bra and black shorts. Riddled with scars and bruising. A bullet wound below a black and white marking that Natashas was hiding with her hand.
Wanda took her gaze off Natasha's body and found her eyes. Taking a step forward, Natasha didn't look away from the younger woman. She didn't move. She kept her grip on her suit and waited. "Natasha?" Wanda spoke.
"Hmm?"
Wanda looked away from the Widow and picked up the Avengers-level first-aid kit. "Take a seat.." She gestured over to the edge of the counter. Natasha looked at the spot before nodding.
Cautious, she dropped the suit from her grip but kept her hand covering the tattoo.
Wanda caught onto it and wasn't sure what Natasha could possibly be hiding; after all, SHEILDS secrets had been public knowledge for the last year and a half. But Wanda wasn't going to bug her about. Right now, she just wanted to care for her teammate and friend.
So, as Wanda got closer to Natasha, Natasha sat straight up and lifted her arm up to give Wanda enough space to work. Wanda sent the older woman a flat smile and bent down slightly before starting to clean the grazed area of the bullet.
Natasha did her best not to wince or show much emotion as Wanda cleaned her up and tossed the bloodied pieces of tissues to the side. Wanda knew Natasha wouldn't, but still, she was in such close proximity to THE BLACK WIDOW, and yet she could tell something was wrong. "Natasha?" Wanda finally said when she went to stitch her up without using her powers.
"Yes?" Natasha brought her eyes to Wanda as her loud thoughts of a young blonde child slowed. "Are you okay?" Wanda asked the question that had been begging to be asked.
Natasha wasn't sure what it was, but she easily could've lied to Wanda. She could've nodded, put on a brave face, and shut down any remaining questions, but when the green eyes of the Sokovian looked up at her, she broke. She closed her eyes and squeezed them tight as tears threatened to spill.
Wanda quickly put down the medicinal supplies in her hand and placed her hands on the shoulders of the redhead before they moved down to Natasha's side. Her hand sitting inches above the still-covered tattoo. "Tas-Natasha?"
Natasha shook her head and used her one free hand to wipe at her face. A tear slipped past her mouth as she opened to speak. "I'm tired." She spoke through her rough throat. Wanda nodded. She knew. "So tired."
Wanda rubbed her hands up and down Natasha's side. It seemed like it was still a safe thing to do, considering Natasha hadn't stopped her, and they were both enjoying the touch of each other on their skin.
Wanda was going to let the silence linger. She didn't know what to say to help Natasha that the Widow didn't know, and she was focusing really hard not to read her thoughts. But luckily for Wanda, Natasha very quietly looked up and said: "I miss her."
Wanda saw the soft sadness in the eyes of her friend and felt hurt. She didn't like seeing Natasha like this. It didn't feel right, and someone this pretty should never be sad.
"Who?" Wanda asked, genuinely curious.
"Yelena. My sister."
Natasha saw the confused look on the witches face, but instead of elaborating, Natasha leaned closer to Wanda and lifted her hand off of her tattoo. "Here." She placed her hands on top of Wanda. Moving one just in front of her forehead and the other hand, she moved down the side of her body.
The feeling of their fingers resting on top of one another sent a warmth wave throughout each woman as Natasha finally placed Wanda's hand on the tattoo.
"I got this a year after my deflection to SHIELD."
Wanda rubbed her thumb over the larger firefly before tracing her fingers over the delicate linework. The action making Natasha smile. "Do you know where she is?" Wanda gingerly asked when she took her eyes off the piece of art.
"No."
"Do you wish you did?"
Natasha didn't waste another thought on a lie. She answered truthfully while looking into Wanda's eyes.
"Yes."
Wanda's eyes stayed on Natashas before dropping to her lips and back up. "Can.. I..?" Wanda asked, awaiting consent before earning a nod. With that, Wanda lowered her hand and began looking into Natasba's mind. Looking at what Natasha wanted her to see.
A young blonde child and a girl with dyed blue hair. The two are playing in a backyard near a swing set. The younger girl is laughing and having fun before she falls over.
"Yelena," Natasha repeated her name. "My sister." Wanda smiles at the memory and then raises her hand up and leaves Natasha's mind. "Before she was taken. She didn't know..." When she opens her eyes, Natasha is looking at her. "Thank you for showing me that." Wanda once again looks down at Natasha's watery smile—her lips.
Natasha nods and notices the look on Wanda's face. "Wanda.." Natasha starts as her hands move to Wanda's waist, tugging her closer to her sitting on the bathroom counter.
"We shouldn't..." Wanda already knows what the older woman is thinking, but Natasha wants this. She needs this. It's been a while since she's felt the care from someone else. The touch of another. She also has shared something with Wanda that no one else knows.
So, as she pulls Wanda closer, Wanda knows that they shouldn't, but she can't say no. The words fail to get past her throat. She wants to feel the lips of the other on her... So she leans into Natasha, and the moment between them is soft. Slow and careful. But the sparks fly.
Something happens.
Natasha's hand moves around to Wanda's lower back, pulling her closer, causing Wanda to fall more into her without a fight as their lips collide again and again.
A whimper makes Natasha smile as she bites and pulls the witches bottom lip between her teeth. "You sound so good for me," Natasha whispers, earning another moan. "Natasha..." Wanda tries to speak again but fails when Natasha's right hand begins pulling at Wanda's grey sweatpants. "Shhh.. It's okay.. I want this.." Natasha reassures Wanda to only earn a shake of the head. The younger woman is doing her best to tell Natasha that she's...
"Tasha.." Wanda moans when Natasha's hand brushes past her bare pussy. "Come on. Tell me you want this, Wanda..." Wanda gasps and moans when a finger touches her clit. "Tasha, please..." Natasha smirks and kisses the lips of the scarlet woman with passion.
"Please, what baby..." Wanda loves the kisses being planted by Natasha, but she has never done anything past this moment with someone. She's feeling lost, and the feeling of passion is morphing into nervousness. And she doesn't want to do this with Natasha when she knows and can feel the thoughts coming from Natasha.
Natasha is looking for an escape.
Wanda moans again in pleasure. "Please stop." She says, surprising Natasha. Immediately, Natasha pulls her hands out of Wanda's sweatpants, placing them on her sides taking her lips off of the Sokovian. Looking into her eyes with concern. "What- what's wrong?" Wanda bites her bottom lip before returning them to Natashas, still keeping her confused. "Wanda?" Natasha looks at her friend with soft eyes.
"I've never..." Wanda says, making Natasha feel guilty for pushing her. "Oh Wanda..." Natasha starts, but Wanda stops her again with a kiss, moving their bodies closer together. "Stop. I want to, but..." Wanda bites her lips again. "I don't want to be used." She takes a careful breath before saying: "You and I both know what that's like."
Natasha doesn't realize a tear has fallen from her face until Wanda drags a finger up her cheek. Wiping it away with tenderness. "I'm so-" "Don't." Wanda cups Natasha's chin. "It's okay." Natasha wants to yell at her that it's not, but all she does is collapse as Wanda runs her hand over the tattoo of a distant memory.
Wanda doesn't speak about what almost happened between them. Instead, she leaves Natasha on the bathroom counter as she brings her some clothes to rest in later tonight. She finishes wrapping the wound around Natasha before leading her out to her bed.
Both women are tired but don't let go of one another hand. Wanda smiles when Natasha asks her to stay.
They don't talk about what is new between them. But the two feel closer as Wanda keeps her hand on the tattoo, and with permission, she is allowed to relive the happiest memories from Natasha's childhood. A majority of them involving Yelena. Natasha thanked her as she laid in the Sokovian's arms.
In return, Wanda made her remember that she's not alone.

A little Ficlet from my archive of wlw… first time posting my Melissa content!
A breath of fresh air:
“You’re Jacobs aunt and the new French teacher at Abbott Elementary, Melissa and you bond over shared cigarettes and vices.”
Tumblr media
Melissa stood next to her car facing the fence, away from Ava who was contently giggling at whatever stupid video she and Jacob were watching. She didn't see why Barbra had to banished her to the far side of the school for wanting one bloody cigarette.
Mel huffed trying to get her lighter to work from her spot behind the shed as she looked around, the empty streets dimly lit by the lamp lights bounding off the metal fence. It dawned on her that she was alone out in the Abbott Parking lot. Everyone else having escaped inside from the cold.
'What you doing over here all by yourself?' A familiar voice called, startlingly elegant the remittance of France still present within the dentals of her accent.
Melissa felt all the hairs stand on the back of her neck. The teacher whirled around to face them, the woman that had been giving her heart palpitations and a mega lady boner since the moment she’d arrived at Abbott four months ago.
Jacob’s Aunt, Jacob’s young, very attractive aunt - who was nearly fifteen years younger than her.
'Needed one,' Mel smirked awkwardly, holding up her unlit cigarette. 'Just can't seem to...' she gave her lighter a few flicks for effect, but it was futile.
'Here." Y/N produced a lighter and lit the flame, as Mel gratefully leaned forward and sucked on her cigarette until it caught.
'Thanks,' the redhead replied, finally feeling the blessed burn as the smoke hit her throat.
'So,' Y/n remarked, ashing her own cigarette, 'Jacob tells me you're a real Lotario.'
Mel looked back at her with a raised eyebrow. 'Who’s that?'
Y/n smirked. 'A slut, basically.'
The redhead grinned at Y/n 'Damn, you've just going call me out like that Hill?"
Y/N took another drag and smirked. 'So it's true then? You just go with a lot of men?'
'Go? As in a date? Nah, It's like, I've don’t take anyone out to the movies or shit like that, none since I was married… even when I was married.’ She shrugs inhaling again, ‘just kinda go with the flow,’ There’s an emphasis on that last part.
‘Everyone got a vice.' Y/n concurs. 'I for one have always enjoyed the pleasures of my fellow feminine species.” - how very French Melissa thought.
Y/n leaned against the wall alongside the teacher. 'I don't mind the company of women either. Never have.'
Y/n raised an eyebrow. 'Really?'
'Is that so surprising? An old gal like me chasing skirt?”
Y/n laughed aloud taking another drag of their cigarette, smiling appreciatively. 'So crude Schemmenti.”
Melissa made an acknowledging sound stubbing out her cigarette as you continued, ‘so what is your vice then?" Y/n asked, watching the Italian woman with interest.
"Work." Mel deadpanned.
"There are worse things to be addicted to I suppose" Y/n shrugged throwing down her cigarette and stepping it out.
"Yeah, but being addicted to sex sounds much more fun" Mel commented, smirking as she swore the woman beside her blushed.
"You know Janine and Gregory are definitely going to hook up”
Mel gave a disbelieving tisk, not wanting to give away her friend and colleagues years in the making relationship. "What makes you think that Frenchie?”
'Come on,' Y/n replied, placing a hand on her hip, 'Have you looked at them? It's bound to happen. I can't quite put my finger on it but I know there's something there.' Y/n continued, her eyes narrowing. 'There was this sort of connection between them the moment they laid eyes on one another. It's been a tumultuous back and forth ever since, someone you can’t falsify.’ Her gaze lingered upon the Italian, the soft curve of her hips as the lay push against the brick. Full and decadent. An essence to their words that did not reflect or belong to Gregory and Janine at all.
'I suppose you may have a point.'
'If they're not shagging now then they will be, I just know it.’
“Not who’s crude.” Mel joked, a dazing full smile lay upon her features.
Y/n simply shrugged. 'I only hope Jacob catches on and finds someone too, at least so he won't turn out a spinster like her aunt.'
‘Oh come on’ the redhead sniggered, ‘you a spinster? How ridiculous. You’re far too young and gorgeous to be referred to in such a way.’
‘You don't believe me? all my relationships have ended in utter failure because I am reserved to becoming an old spinster,' Y/n sighed dejectedly, dramatically. 'Perhaps I should just accept my fate and adopt a bunch of cats.'
Mel smirked, a little laugh escaping her lips as he turned to Y/n if you wanted to play coy, she’d take the bait. ‘Look I don't know much but I do know, no matter when or how it happens, you just gotta be open to it,' she whispered, ‘and when you've done that, well maybe then you can get some cats.’
Y/n looked at Melissa for a good long moment, letting what she had just said sink in. After a bit, she nodded in agreement before revealing a sly look.
‘You think I’m gorgeous?’
‘Caught that did you?’ Melissa shook her head, flashed a charming grin, ‘besides I'm sure even old spinsters get a good fuckin' every once in a while."
‘Oh sure. I'm sure I'll be able to fit in a good rendezvous or two between all the cat feedings.’ Y/n delighted, their bottom lip curling upon their teeth.
‘Yeah, see, there you go,’ Mel laughed. ‘I'd definitely wanna show a fine cat lady like you a good time.’
Y/n found herself grinning, and looked down shyly. Maybe she was lying a little, plenty of people flirted with her, but never any as spectacular as this particularly teacher. What was a white lie in favour of a future?
Y/n turned towards Mel reaching out and grasping her wrist, taking her other hand and idly drawing circles in the Italian’s palm. 'Is that an offer?'
Melissa gave another, surprisingly nervous laugh, smile brilliant and charming. 'Well that depends on your answer Frenchie.’
Y/n hummed as if she were contemplating what they were going to do. When really she was just trying to contain her excitement because holy shit Melissa Ann Caterina Schemmenti was going to kiss her.
No time for nerves Hill.
Y/n’s breath caught in her throat as the redhead stepped in front of her, moving in close. Y/n bit her lip, holding in a gasp as she felt tender fingertips and a set of perfectly manicured nails just barely graze the soft and sensitive skin beneath her left eye. A hot palm pushing against her skin, brushing away her hair and pulling in. Y/n needed bit down harder to prevent a gleeful shout from escaping as strong hands grasped into her hair.
There was a moment, a bare seconds, void of anything other than the woman before her. Vision becoming little but hues of red remittent of Italian soils that Y/n would gladly be lay to rest in. The soft apex of the teachers lips falling down upon her own, moving in a perfectly smooth motion.
Melissa Schemmenti’s lips could only be found among worldly things, the simplest of pleasures. Between old library pages, morning rain and bath water as it fizzled down a drain. A kiss worthy of its benefactor, a kiss she couldn’t help but reach up and steal again. A rememberable of smoke thick upon their teeth, as they devoured one another.

More than a date?
You were bold to think the classic British weather was going to hold off for your afternoon. Despite the downpour, nothing could put a dampener on the date ahead, especially when a familiar car was already waiting in the car park. It was shaped by trees that hadn't lost their foliage despite the season, but even that was pretty.
"Followed my directions, then?" The Scottish accent asked which only brought a smile to your face.
"The sat nav was no help at all. You, however, were very useful." You both went in for a kiss, short and sweet but it was electric. Her hand fell to hold your waist, she brought you in closer so that your hands could rest against her chest at that moment. "We can get you a new car with a new sat nav," Jen promised.
"Can we? When we're married and halfway through the mortgage payments?" You teased back, letting your date lead you towards the hill, hand in hand.
Things with Jen had been steady for a while, neither of you bothering with titles but in all honesty, you'd probably passed the threshold by now. You've done everything from hiking together to a tufting workshop you'd dragged her to that ended up with you taking home her rainbow rug that is proudly serving its purpose at the end of your bed. You'd been to watch her play, she's taken you to work the odd few times whenever training allows her. It wasn't long before you were heading out of the trees, climbing a hill that she had finally stopped dragging you up.
"How about I take us away? The next international break... you'll get time off, right? So what if we get away? Somewhere warm. Or somewhere touristy." You suggested, thinking out loud as you walked, kicking whatever stone got in your way. You didn't need to look at Jen to know what she was doing, she was grinning at you. You were surprised she hadn't picked up an injury the way her head snapped towards you at your suggestion.
"Do dates take each other away to do touristy things?" Jen asked, only teasing you but by that point, you'd reached the top and the views had taken your attention. You'd both been there enough to know what was at the top but it seemed so breathtaking every time.
You weren't alone for long before Jen's arms were wrapped around you, securing you against her body that was thankfully radiating pure warmth. "That came out wrong." She started in your ear, her breath sending shivers down your spine. "If my more than date wanted to take us away, I'd be glad of the opportunity."
"Your more than date? See, I don't think I can do that type of commitment." You teased. "If, hypothetically, your more than date was to suggest Budapest. Or Italy. Or France. Or Spain."
"I think my more than date is getting ahead of herself. Hypothetically."
"Barcelona. Your girlfriend wants to take you to Barcelona." You grin, feeling her hold on you tighten. You can practically hear the giddiness in her voice.

hello!! first off just wanted to say thank you for all your great work on this blog! i was wondering if you had any ineffable wives fics (no nsfw) that didn't take place in present day (like the flashbacks)?
thank you so much !!!!
Hi! Here are some ineffable wives historical/through the ages fics...
No Such Thing as Angels in Foxholes by cassieoh_draws & The_Ineffable_Zephyr (T)
An ineffable wives fic. Aziraphale and Crowley find a moment of comfort with each other during the carnage of World War II France. Melancholy tone with a glimmer of soft light (is that a halo?).
look into her false colored eyes by worminapouch (T)
California, Earth, 1967 AD: The Summer of Love "The scene Crowley arrived at was perfect. A whole park, full of tents and run-down vehicles and people. They charged the air, leaving it sweet with the taste of their hope. But bitter notes of frustration lingered underneath the sweetness, strong as anything, concentrating around the young and hungry in the crowd." Crowley and Aziraphale, after a chance meeting in San Fransisco
Last Night Good Night by die_traumerei (T)
Aziraphale's been assigned to Yorkshire, to restore a little faith after that awkward Pendle Hill incident. Things are fine -- it's quiet enough, and although Crowley has a house nearby, she certainly doesn't think about her sworn enemy a whole, whole lot. That would be unseemly, and she has plenty to keep her busy! So it goes, until she's accused of being a witch by locals, and everything goes rather pear-shaped. Crowley's there for a midnight rescue, at least -- and then, of course, for giving Aziraphale a place to rest, and heal. And possibly, finally, do something about her feelings.
Mistakes Were Made: Never Nefer(titi) by eag (T)
Amarna, 1340 B.C. Crowley is in love, and Aziraphale can only look on helplessly because the beautiful woman that Crowley is in love with is not her. Of course, mistakes were made...
The Long and Winding Road by elfbowie (G)
Aziraphale reluctantly agrees to accompany Crowley to a Beatles concert in 1965, resigned to an evening of rowdy music she's certain she'll hate. Upon listening to the lyrics of the songs, though, she finds that some of them are unexpectedly relatable. Will the angel and demon acknowledge the growing emotional tension between them as the night goes on?
woke up in a safe house singing, "honey, let's get married" by apprehensive_sloth (T)
Because now, of all things, she thinks about enduring vows and broken promises, soured by foul and violent influences that are impossible to keep count. She thinks of risks, of homes carved from hands clasped together, and the possibilities that tempt her.

Feels Like Home
Derek sat outside of the small coffee shop watching young couples, overworked mothers, and tired college students come and go. He held his own steaming cup in his hands. His jacket pulled tightly around him, his scarf wrapped around his neck. It was a bit too cold to be sitting outside. Not many others were and not for long, but Derek needed this. He needed something to kill the whirring in his chest. It felt like a hurricane under his skin. At first he thought it was him being homesick but when he visited Beacon Hills, nothing was the same. Stiles had joined the FBI. Isaac had moved to France. Lydia went off to some fancy school. Scott became a vet in Los Angeles. His house had been torn down and was now being turned into a park.
The feeling only continued to get worse. He felt restless. He had been traveling since he split from Braden almost four years ago. He never stayed anywhere long because it felt wrong. Nowhere felt like home anymore. He was a drifter with nothing to root him into place. He'd even visited Cora for a few months before having to move on.
Now he sat at a small coffee shop in New York City seeking comfort in the faint memories he'd made here years ago with Laura. They'd sit at this very table and people watch for hours. Laura would make up stories about the bickering couple that walked by, or the teenagers seeking their caffeine high for the day.
Derek watched a mother with their teenage daughter walk by. He imagined what Laura would say about them.
Perhaps she'd claim the mother was lecturing her daughter about choosing boys over her grades while the daughter ignored her in favor of texting her friends.
The thought brought a smile to his face. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. The cold November air burned his lungs. The sun would be setting soon and it would be too cold to people watch. He tipped back the last of his coffee and stood to make his way...somewhere. Back to the hotel he was staying in? That thought made his chest tighten. Perhaps he'd find something to occupy himself on the way.
He tossed his empty cup into the nearby trash and headed down the busy sidewalk. He was never a fan of big cities. It had too many scents and noises. Laura said that was what made it the perfect place to live until they knew they were safe from hunters.
Derek tried not to breath too deep as he continued down the sidewalk. He let his feet carry him aimlessly through the crowded streets, navigating traffic and pedestrians with ease, until he found himself standing at the entrance of central park.
Laura loved to go running here. It was the closest thing to home at the time. Derek had rolled his eyes claiming the handful of trees didn't compare to the reserve. He stood by that even now. Though lately even the reserve didn't feel like home.
He closed his eyes and imagined Laura's laughter as she taunted him for lagging behind. She had always been faster and stronger than him.
"Derek?" A familiar voice yanked him from his memory.
He opened his eyes to see Stiles Stilinski walking towards him from the park's entrance. He looked older than the last time Derek had seen him. His hair was longer and his jaw more chiseled. He had stubble that shadowed his chin and cheeks. It was a good look.
"Dude, what are you doing here?" Stiles asked, coming in for a hug.
Derek reciprocated the hug awkwardly, still caught off guard by the sudden appearance of an old pack member.
"I uh, I'm in town for a bit," Derek answered lamely. He didn't know what he was doing here. Chasing old memories in search of comfort? That wasn't something he wanted to admit to.
"How long?" Stiles asked shifting a bag on his shoulder.
"I'm not sure. What are you doing here?" Derek had thought Stiles was in Virgina.
"I took a job here about six months ago, working with the local FBI."
"Oh. That's great." Derek forced a smile. Stiles seemed different. Happy maybe.
"Are you busy?" Stiles glanced around as if expecting to see someone else with Derek.
"No, I was just..." Derek gestured to the park.
Stiles raised a brow but didn't pry when Derek didn't elaborate.
Derek's chest warmed. He forgot how understanding Stiles was. He never had to explain himself to him.
"Well, I was thinking of grabbing something to eat. If you have the time...you should join me."
Derek smelled the caution in Stiles' scent. He smiled. "I'd like that."
Stiles beamed. He'd clearly been expecting a rejection.
-
As they walked, Stiles caught Derek up on his life. Derek listened intently being sure to ask questions to keep the conversation on Stiles.
It wasn't until they were seated at the table in the small Italian restaurant that Stiles gave Derek a pointed look.
"So are we going to continue to avoid talking about you or are you gonna tell me what you're doing in New York?"
Derek dropped his eyes to his lap where he had laid his napkin. He smoothed the creases of it before looking back up at Stiles.
"Is something wrong?" Stiles' tone dropped into worry as he leaned forward.
"No. I'm fine." Derek gave a small smile at Stiles' concern.
Stiles narrowed his eyes but didn't argue. Instead he waited for Derek to continue.
"I've been here about a month. Laura and I lived here for a while after the fire."
Stiles nodded. "Right. I remember."
"I umm, guess I'm just missing her." Derek dropped his gaze back to his napkin. He plucked at a loose thread as he continued. "I've been traveling a bit. Just came from visiting Cora actually."
"I figured you'd settle down somewhere, build a pack." Stiles frowned.
Derek's lips pulled into a line. "I haven't found anywhere that feels...right. Ya know?" his eyes came up to meet Stiles'.
Stiles shifted in his seat. "Yeah. It's hard to find where you belong when everyone you know is scattered to the wind."
Derek nodded. "I went back to Beacon Hills recently."
"Nothing is the same." Stiles shook his head.
"Yeah, it felt...strange," Derek agreed.
"Do you talk to anyone from Beacon Hills anymore?" Stiles asked.
"Not really, no. Cora is the only one. You?"
Stiles nodded sadly. "I talk to Scott on occasion. Lydia sends emails sometimes. I even got a postcard from Isaac once though that was three years ago now. Haven't heard from Cora or Malia in several years. I actually ran into Jackson and Ethan while on a case last year, but I didn't have time to catch up."
"I should have reached out." Derek smelled the disappointment on Stiles. It was familiar. It reminded him of the early days in Beacon Hills. Stiles usually smelled upset or disappointed or worried.
"I uh...thought about reaching out myself. I looked you up in the database but..." Stiles trailed off.
"Why didn't you?" Derek pressed. He wondered how he would have reacted to a random call from Stiles Stilinski. He imagined he'd have been pleased.
"I figured if you wanted to talk you'd reach out. I know how important your privacy is to you," Stiles shrugged, reaching for the water in front of him.
Derek's chest warmed once again.
"I would have liked to hear from you," Derek admitted.
"Why didn't you reach out?" Stiles dared ask, his eyes lifting to meet Derek's.
"I heard you got out. I had a lot of demons chasing me for a while. Once I finally shook them...I realized you were probably better off."
Stiles gave a derisive snort.
"It's good to see you though," Derek said with a sincerity in his tone that caused Stiles to look up with a frown. "It's nice to see someone...familiar."
"Yeah. It feels...comfortable." Stiles smiled.
Derek cleared his throat. "So you live nearby or..."
Stiles allowed the subject change. He knew Derek would say more when he wanted to. For now he'd allow him to avoid whatever he was trying to avoid.
-
After dinner, Stiles and Derek stepped back into the cold air. The sun had set well beneath the horizon, making the cold bite through their clothes, sending shivers down their spines.
"So are you staying nearby?" Stiles asked, pulling his coat tighter around him.
"Uh," Derek glanced to the Hilton Garden Inn. "Yeah. Not far."
Stiles blinked at Derek. "I'm sorry, are you staying in a hotel?"
Derek dropped his chin to his chest.
"Oh my god, Derek." Stiles threw his arms up. "You've been here a month."
Derek shrugged. He hadn't even planned to stay here that long but he didn't know where to go next and he hoped that if he stuck around long enough it would start to feel like home. It didn't.
"Come on, you're staying with me. I have a spare room you can use." Stiles turned to walk down the sidewalk but Derek didn't follow.
"What?" Stiles frowned when he noticed Derek wasn't behind him.
"I haven't seen you in years."
"So?"
"So we're not friends anymore."
Stiles' brows raised. "I'm offended."
"I just meant..." Derek trailed off with a sigh.
"If you're worried about me taking you back to my place, I bought you dinner first." Stiles gave a teasing grin.
Derek rolled his eyes but couldn't help the smile that pulled at his lips.
"Come on, you'll have your own bathroom. I won't hog the TV and you get the house to yourself while I'm at work," Stiles pressed.
Derek squinted at Stiles. "You're serious."
"Dude, yes. Now come on, it's freezing. We can swing through and get your stuff on the way." Stiles started down the sidewalk again. This time Derek followed suit.
-
Derek wasn't sure what he expected when he walked into Stiles' apartment, but it was not this. The small living room was decorated in warm browns and deep reds. The microfiber couch was a chocolate brown, draped in a dark red blanket. The walnut coffee table sat between the couch and the fake fireplace where the TV hung. On the walls were framed pictures of Stiles' FBI certifications and his dad in uniform. The room smelled strongly of Stiles and sandalwood.
"Make yourself comfortable." Stiles hung his keys on a hook by the door before laying his bag on a small table below them.
"It's nice." Derek's eyed trailed to the small kitchen where a bar with two stools separated the living room from the stove. On it sat a bowl with two overripe bananas and a single apple. The fridge held pictures of Scott and Stiles from years ago along with a wedding invitation for a couple Derek didn't know. The sink was void of dirty dishes minus a single solo cup.
"This is the bathroom," Stiles gestured to a door just inside the hall. "And this is your room." He pointed to a spacious room with a queen size bed in the middle. It was decorated in deep blues with baseball pictures on the wall.
Derek thought he recognized a couple of the posters from Stiles' room back in Beacon Hills.
"My room is there." Stiles pointed to the other end of the short hallway.
"You're sure you don't mind?" Derek asked.
"Stay as long as you like." Stiles held his arms out. "Mi casa es tu casa."
Derek couldn't help the frown that tugged on his brows. He didn't even know what home felt like anymore.
"So yeah, the bed is good to go cause I never have company. Uh...there are towels in the bathroom closet. I don't have any soap or shampoo but I can get mine if you-"
"I stole the hotel toiletries," Derek interrupted.
Stiles blinked at Derek. "I'm sorry, what?"
"I took the shampoo and soap from the hotel." Derek held up his duffel bag.
"I was already concerned by the severe lack of luggage but now you're telling me you've just been using hotel soap?"
"What's wrong with that?" Derek frowned.
"Nothing. I just...you've been in town for a month."
Derek shrugged.
Stiles cocked his head in a way that Derek remembered well. It was something he did when he was putting together clues to solve a case. "Okay, well I'll let you settle in." He took a step back as if to show he was giving Derek space.
"Thank you, Stiles," Derek said, a sincerity to his tone that Stiles didn't hear often.
"Course." Stiles smiled but it didn't quite reach his eyes.
Derek watched him close himself in his room, leaving Derek standing in the hall.
-
Derek woke late the next morning. He'd slept better than he had in weeks. His muscles were less sore than usual. He padded into Stiles kitchen in his pajama pants to see the apartment empty. Laid on the counter was a note from Stiles.
'Had to be at work early. Should be back by five. Hope you slept well. Make yourself at home.'
Derek smiled down at the note before opening the fridge. His smile grew at the sight of a pack of Pepsi, a jar of pickles and an old box of cold pizza. He should have guessed Stiles' fridge wouldn't be stocked. He shook his head before heading back to his room. If Stiles was going to allow him to stay, the least he could do was buy groceries.
Two hours later Derek had hauled all the groceries up to Stiles' apartment, covering his kitchen counter in jars of pasta sauce and boxes of noodles. Bags of rice and chicken stock. Anything he thought Stiles might need or use.
He put all the food away in what seemed like the correct places before checking the time. Stiles wouldn't be home for a few more hours.
The whirring in Derek's chest made him close his eyes. He recalled what he would do when he was bored at home while Laura was at work. Cook.
"Well I did just go shopping," he muttered to himself.
He pulled out a couple pots and pans that he'd come across while searching through Stiles' cabinets. They looked almost brand new.
-
Stiles stepped out of the elevator and was hit with a smell so good his stomach rumbled. He realized he was starving. He'd skipped lunch in favor of trying to solve his latest problem. He would have to see if Derek wanted to grab dinner with him because he was certain he didn't have anything to make.
He opened the door, only to be hit in the face with the smell from the hallway. Derek was in his kitchen with a towel tossed over his shoulder and a spread of several different dishes laid out in front of him.
"Just in time. Hungry?" Derek asked, pulling the towel from his shoulder and wringing it between his hands.
Stiles stood stunned. "What—"
"You didn't really have anything so I went to the store and then I was feeling...well I thought maybe you wouldn't mind." Derek gestured to the dinner he'd made.
"Wow. This is...Derek...I don't know what to say. Thank you."
"I didn't know what you liked so I made a few different things. This is Cheese stuffed mushrooms. This is butternut squash gnocchi with sage brown sugar. This is pork tenderloins with caramelized pears in a pear brandy cream sauce. And these are sautéed baby root vegetables." Derek pointed to each dish.
"Dude." Stiles hung his keys and dropped his bag. "One, what did I do to deserve this? And two, when did you learn to cook like this?"
Derek pulled out two plates. "My mom taught me and Laura. I used to cook for Laura when she was at work. It helped keep my mind busy. And as far as deserving it..." he spooned the different dishes onto one of the plates before setting it in front of Stiles. "You gave me a place to stay."
Stiles' stomach rumbled once again.
"Sounds like you're hungry," Derek held back a smile.
"Dude, I could kiss you, this is amazing," Stiles said around a bite of mushroom.
Derek's head dipped bashfully. "Glad you like it." He reached for a bag on the counter and pulled two bottles out.
"You'd be proud, I bought shampoo." he held up one of the bottles that was indeed labeled 'Shampoo'.
Stiles laughed, a pleased look on his face.
Through dinner Derek listened to Stiles' day, happy to have company. He missed Stiles' ramblings and fun facts. It took him back to long days researching at the loft.
"So I would ask how your day was but..." Stiles gestured to the kitchen. "I think I know."
"I hope you don't mind." Derek set his fork on his now empty plate.
"Are you kidding? If I had known you could cook, I would have hunted your ass down way earlier." Stiles took his and Derek's plate to the sink.
Derek's chest warmed at Stiles' words. He liked that Stiles enjoyed his cooking. He hadn't cooked for anyone since Laura. It felt good.
After dinner, Stiles worked on his case so Derek busied himself with a Sudoku book he'd bought from the store earlier.
Stiles, who was flipping through the pages of his file, paused and looked over at Derek who was sitting cross legged on the end of the couch. He wore a plain white tank top and grey sweatpants. The sudoku book was folded in his left hand. It was the most domestic he'd ever seen Derek. His stomach fluttered. It was strange having Derek in his space but he enjoyed it. It felt right.
"You're staring," Derek said, not looking up from his book.
"I was just think how odd this is, having you here."
Derek looked up, his shoulders straightening.
"But also it's so...natural. Almost like...you belong? I dunno, sorry if that's weird." Stiles turned back to his file.
"It's not weird. I know what you mean. It's familiar but also...not." Derek relaxed his shoulders. The scent on Stiles was contentment. He had worried he'd been too quick to fall into the comfort of Stiles' house. But something about being in Stiles' space was...relaxing.
-
Stiles walked into his apartment to the smell of garlic and onions cooking. "Honey I'm home," he called playfully.
Derek turned around, the towel tossed over his shoulder like it so often was. "Hey, you're home early."
"It smells amazing." Stiles peered over Derek's shoulder where he was sautéing garlic and onions in a pan of oil.
"It won't be ready for another thirty minutes," Derek apologized.
"Dude, you don't have to have it ready when I get home." Stiles laughed shaking his head.
"I like to though." Derek shrugged, pushing the vegetables across the pan with his wooden spoon.
"Well I appreciate it." Stiles stepped back and grabbed a pepper from the cutting board. "Can't wait to see what you're gonna create tonight, Gordon Ramsey."
Derek chuckled, shaking his head.
"Gonna go shower."
Derek turned to watch Stiles retreat into the apartment. It had been almost two weeks since Derek had started staying with Stiles. He'd settled in quickly and found that he wasn't waiting for his next move.
He glanced around. His favorite mug had a place on Stiles' counter next to the coffee maker. His books had made a home on the new bookcase Stiles bought. A second hook had been hung next to Stiles' keys for his own. His clothes were folded next to Stiles' on the dryer. His herb plants lined the balcony.
Their lives had intertwined so easily. Derek found he enjoyed gardening and cooking while Stiles was at work. On weekends the two would get coffee and take walks through central park.
Derek placed a hand on his chest. The whirring force of the hurricane that had taken up residency under his skin had simmered. Being here with Stiles was the first time that feeling had gone away. He wondered at what point it had started to dissipate. Had it been when Stiles gave Derek a spare key? Had it been when Stiles started leaving notes regularly for him in the morning? Had it been when Stiles asked Derek's opinion on the new couch cushions he bought?
Derek considered what it was about Stiles' space that made him so comfortable as he finished dinner. By the time Stiles had finished showering and joined him in the kitchen he'd decided that it was just Stiles. He'd always been comfortable around him and felt safe. Stiles had even at one point been his anchor.
Suddenly Derek whipped around to face Stiles who was taking his seat at the counter.
"What's wrong?" Stiles frowned at Derek's panicked expression.
Derek didn't know how he hadn't realized it sooner. Stiles was his anchor. He'd been searching for something to ground him for years. And the entire time it was Stiles.
"Derek?" Stiles slid off the chair and reached for Derek's forearm.
Derek closed his eyes as Stiles' soothing touch washed over him. A warmth spread through him.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Stiles squeezed Derek's arm gently.
Derek opened his eyes, collecting himself. "Nothing. I just forgot an ingredient for dinner. But it's fine." He turned away from Stiles.
He tried to push down the panic but now that he realized that Stiles was what had been missing from his life he didn't know how he could leave. He knew it was only a matter of time before Stiles wanted Derek to move out. But Derek didn't want to leave. Stiles felt like home, something he'd been searching for for a long time.
"You sure?" Stiles pressed, his eyes narrowed.
"Yeah. Come on, let's eat." Derek put on a soft smile and made Stiles' plate.
Stiles reclaimed his seat.
Derek was thankful Stiles didn't pry. He guessed though by the frown on his face that he didn't believe Derek.
Stiles told Derek about his day over dinner like he did every night. Derek did his best to pay attention but all he could think about was how much he'd miss this.
"Dinner was amazing as usual." Stiles took his and Derek's plates to the sink.
"I'm thinking of getting my own place," Derek blurted. He'd seen a neighbor down the hall moving out the day before. Perhaps if he could stay close to Stiles he would remain grounded.
The plates slipped from Stiles' grip and clattered loudly in the sink. He cleared his throat.
"Oh?" Stiles turned on the water.
"An apartment down the hall opened up." Derek swallowed.
Stiles took in a shaky breath. He knew this day would come, he'd just hoped it wouldn't be so soon. "Okay." He fought to keep his tone even.
Derek tried to decipher the different scents on Stiles. Disappointment. Anger. Understanding.
"I've taken up enough of your space and—"
Stiles cut the water off and turned to face Derek, causing him to cut his sentence short.
"You're not taking up my space Derek. This is your space too." Stiles' tone was sharper than he'd intended.
Derek didn't respond.
Stiles wiped his hands on a towel and sighed. "If that's really what you want then okay, but please don't feel like you're doing me any favors by moving out."
Derek's brows furrowed. Did Stiles really want him to stay?
"Look, I get it; you don't stay in one place long. But don't move into the apartment down the hall for a few months if you're just planning on leaving again. Stay here. When you're ready to move on, then...okay. But it's stupid to get another apartment temporarily," Stiles continued.
"I didn't mean to upset you." Derek couldn't ignore the irritation in Stiles' scent.
"You didn't."
Derek noted the lack of skips in Stiles' heartbeat. He wasn't lying.
"Then what did?"
Stiles looked at Derek and sighed. "I did."
Derek's frown deepened.
"I got comfortable having you here. I knew you wouldn't stay and yet I still..." Stiles trailed off. "It doesn't matter."
"It matters to me." Derek took a step towards Stiles.
"Having you here has been..." Stiles licked at his licks. "Honestly, it's been incredible."
Derek's chest warmed at Stiles' words.
"It feels like you belong here and I don't know why. I love having you here. I love your coffee cup next to mine. I love your books on my shelf. I love your sudoku puzzles. I love your herb plants on my balcony. I love watching the game with you. I love getting coffee and watching the pigeons on our walks. I love—" Stiles cut himself off.
Derek took another step towards Stiles. "I love those things too. But what happens when you tire of my things in your space? Or when you..." he swallowed. "Meet someone."
Stiles scoffed. "Yeah."
"I'm serious, Stiles."
"What are you running from?" Stiles snapped, catching Derek off guard.
"What?"
"You've been all over the place. You never stay in one place long. You were staying in a hotel." Stiles threw his arms up.
"I'm not running from anything."
"Then what are you looking for?"
Derek's lips pulled into a tight line.
Stiles would normally back off, sensing Derek didn't want to talk about it, but this time he pushed.
"You've been searching for something. What is it?"
"Home." Derek said, barely above a whisper.
Stiles wasn't sure what he'd been expecting Derek to say but it wasn't that.
"Oh. Well...I don't want to stop you from finding that." He spoke just as quietly.
"Stiles." Derek took a step forward.
Stiles took a step back, bumping into the counter behind him.
"I'm gonna be honest with you because you deserve to know." Derek pulled in a slow breath. "I found my home. Here with you."
Stiles' mouth fell open.
"I realized it earlier and...it scared me."
Stiles didn't dare move or speak.
"You're my anchor. Have been for years. I just never realized that this torrent that I've been trying to quell wasn't a storm at all. It was a hole."
Stiles swallowed. This had to be a dream.
"This." Derek gestured around the apartment. "You. It feels like home."
"Then why are you trying to leave?" Stiles dared ask. His voice a whisper.
"Because I'm afraid if I don't leave now, I won't be able to later."
"Then don't ever leave."
Derek frowned.
"I didn't realize what was missing in my life until you showed up. When you're here I feel...better."
Derek's ears pricked for any hint of a lie.
"When you left all those years ago, you took a piece of me with you. Now that you're back...I don't want you to go."
"Really?" Derek searched Stiles face for any doubt, listened for any hesitation.
"Derek." Stiles stepped forward and the smell of worry, and anxiety singed Derek's nose. "I don't want your shampoo bottles to be in the spare bathroom. I want them to be in mine."
Derek's lips pulled into a fond smile before surging forward. His fingers clutched at the sides of Stiles' face as their lips connected gently.
Stiles' hands gripped at the t-shirt Derek wore, holding him close. Dizziness swept over him. This wasn't real. There was no way Derek Hale was kissing him.
Derek pulled back, keeping their foreheads together.
"Does this mean you'll stay?" Stiles asked between them, his hands still gripping at Derek's shirt.
"As long as you'll have me." Derek closed his eyes relishing in the comfort and warmth of Stiles' presence.
Derek's shampoo fit perfectly on the shelf next to Stiles', much like the rest of his things did in Stiles' apartment.
Consider buying me a coffee, I would really appreciate it!

Orkus - 2000
Thank to ramjohn for the scans!
Rammstein have retreated to the truly flat country to work on their long-awaited third studio album: In Mol, Belgium, there are only meadows, cows — and one of the most modern studios in Europe.
"We didn't come here entirely voluntarily," Schneider admits to the handful of German and English journalists who came to the Belgian hinterland on the weekend of the EM final to find out about the progress of activities for the Rammstein album, working title ‘Mutter’, which is expected at the beginning of next year  — to be informed. “Our engineer Jacob Hellner, who was also responsible for the last two albums, is tied to the Galaxy Studios. The technical possibilities here are fantastic and the working atmosphere is great, but there is hardly any variety.” But that's easy to imagine, because the complex, which is just under an hour and a half from Brussels Airport, is literally on a green field: Mol is a small village with maybe fifty low-rise family houses that look like a cross between the sample catalog of the local builders' merchant and the clinker brick building of the North German lowlands. English lawns, psychedelic splendor of roses, strictly trimmed boxwood and garden gnomes included. The large, blue clinker building rises almost like a foreign body between gardens and pastures with strangely pig-like, colorless cows. Illustrious guests like the Guano Apes, dEUS, Die Krupps or Such A Surge have worked here, as have Joan Osborne, Lauryn Hill and the Kelly Family. Olli's old mobile home seems a bit out of place in the parking lot of the high-tech sound company. “Tomorrow we're going back to Berlin,” he says happily. “Then on to Japan, where we will play the old program for the last time at the Fudji Rock Festival. Then we come back here to finish the mixes.” However, a large part of the album was created in the spring for a good six weeks in a studio in the south of France. "It was fantastic there," Richard recalls, "the studio was idyllically situated in the vineyards, and we were accommodated directly on the property. Till recorded part of the vocals in the living room of his apartment there and we had friends and relatives visiting.” Admittedly, the Berliners didn't do badly with the accommodation in Belgium either: They reside about 20 minutes by car from the studio in the country, house hotel and restaurant 'Hippocampus', which is one of the best in Belgium, which really has a lot of culinary highlights is applicable. "The food here is almost too good," admits Olli. (Which the journalists were able to easily convince themselves of later at dinner in the same restaurant!) “Sometimes we cycle from the hotel to the studio to stay fit.” Not a bad performance at around 14 kilometers one-way.
“Otherwise we replay the EM games and work concentrated on the album.” Despite the grueling production, the guys look fresh and fit, if just a little bit excited: “You're the first to hear some of the new tracks,” says Richard. “We are curious to see what you have to say about it.” In addition to the journalists, representatives from the label's Hamburg and London offices have also arrived — no wonder he's a little nervous. But before the eagerly awaited listening session in the light-wood paneled control room with the estimated five meter long mixing console, a typically Belgian pastime is the order of the day: the studio's own chef has set up a veritable monster buffet — meat, pasta, salads, fish and seafood, for dessert: Belgian chocolates. Fed up and satisfied, journalists and record company staff push their way through the complex's complex corridors to the place of revelation. And they certainly won't be disappointed: three finished pieces and three more in the raw version are blown around their ears in two rounds with studio loudspeakers costing x thousand marks. First impression: breathless. Barring another catastrophe of the magnitude of a total hard disk crash (Hard Disc Recording!), this will be the most fantastic Rammstein album ever. Powerful and aggressive, yet more differentiated than Herzeleid, the new material leans more in the direction of Sehnsucht. ‘Sonne’, the first track, is a super-catchy banger with siren-like female voices in the background and an abrupt end: «Aus». More please! ‘Links’ hits like a bomb: Oskar Lafontaine's famous book title as an obvious dig at all the hostilities of recent years and next to it a puristic song in the best Rammstein manner - except for the bluesy (!) solo. And this piece also ends far too quickly: 'Left, two three four...'. The next track also has a controversial subject: this is about a priest who feels attracted to his young protégés, in proper style with sacred choirs and bells. The three following rough mixes are announced as not yet finished, but they also promise something outstanding: ‘Mein Herz brennt’ is already very epic and reminds a bit of Puff Dandy's famous collaboration with Jimmy Page, here Till acts as a desperate children's fright. With a long, melancholic guitar solo and distinctive string riff, this might be the longest song presented. ‘Feuer frei’ seems the most electronic with its EBM rhythm, but impresses with ultra-fat riffs and crazy guitar effects. But this track also has a short, quiet middle part with noticeable synth sprinklings. "Bang Bang", the end - Rammstein seem to develop a preference for concise closing sentences on this album... Stylized children's babble marks the beginning of the most unusual and lyrically most personal of the songs presented: ‘Mutter’. Melancholic and balladesque, it comes across as a private reckoning with a traumatic, motherless childhood — less aggressive than deeply hurt. Although of course no savings were made on hearty lines of text.
After twice a good twenty minutes it's all over; Still a little dazed, but visibly enthusiastic, the crowd of critics staggers back to the surface. Predicate: particularly valuable — it would have to be hell if Rammstein weren't able to underpin their position as the most influential German band at the turn of the millennium with this album. Although there could still be a few surprises waiting for us between what we have just heard and the finished product: “We will be more varied,” promises Paul and grins, “the album should contain both punk influences and hits.” There still seems to be a lot to come!

Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, this is a mixture of different genres of music that remind me of my fav girlies Elisia and Enid !! And songs that I feel suit them well, or that they'd listen n' vibe to! They both have quite a bit in common imo. (not to mention they're both isfp's with trauma and trust issues-)
Also I'd like to add a TW. Quite a few of these songs are depressing (very much s1 Elisia) and contain topics such as substance abuse, self-harm, eating disorders, etc. My dms are always open if anyone wants to vent/rant/or just talk :). I love y'all, and I'm proud of you!
Anyway, I hope you all enjoy !! 🫶🏻💖
(Also, here is My Masterlist, which is still being edited and updated. It's a wip!!) °♡✧⋆

@enid-rhees <3 @ofcutsandoffire <3, thx for helping me out w/ this! Love y'all 🫶🏻
If anyone actually listens to these songs, beware, it's very much an emotional rollercoaster- it's a wild mix of depressing songs and upbeat songs, and everything in between lol. Also, most of these are Elisia coded, so yea :')
I still feel like there's more songs I could add to this list, but can't think of them atm. So whenever I find a new song, I'll update the playlist!

I'm an escapist. I'm not a planner; I've never made a decision about anything in my life. The good thing about Africa is that you can escape forever. You can do what you want without someone looking over your shoulder.
- Peter Beard, photographer
Surviving a shipwreck in Lake Rudolf, being crushed by an elephant & an encounter with a lion in the middle of the night, Peter Beard wld have been 85 this week. Beard was heir to 2 fortunes - railways & tobacco - a child of privilege: Upper East Side, Buckley and Yale. Africa and its wildlife.
In the late 50s, he bought Hog Ranch, near the Ngong Hills & adjacent to his friend Karen Blixen’s coffee farm. In 1972 he acquired an estate at Montauk Point near Andy Warhol.
Explosive, collagist, his works combine his photographs with his diaries - paper clippings, dried leaves, insects, old sepia photos, phone messages, India ink marginalia, quotes. Blood from the nearest butcher - and his own. Photographing wildlife, wild personalities and living an extravagant, untamed, life, Peter Beard was the personification of the word “Wild.” Baptised “the last of the adventurers,” Beard is as famous for his very public private life as he is for his idiosyncratic collage diaries and assemblages. Bringing together found objects, contact sheets, literary text and photographs from Tsavo, Kenya, his work subverts craft, control, and intentionality, typically associated with conventional artistic practice.
‘I’m an expert on futility and I like the futility and the pettiness of my diaries. It's a sort of laundry list of the day.’ It began when Jacqueline Kennedy gave him a leather-bound journal. He collaborated with Andy Warhol, Francis Bacon, Karen Blixen, Truman Capote, and Salvador Dalí. He also became a portraitist. In the jungle that is Manhattan & in Kenya (clad only in a kikoi) he proved as irresistible as he was insatiable. He was the great passion in the passionate life of Lee Radziwill. He would say sleep was such a waste of time.
Tumblr media
Beard himself referred to his devotion to photography as something to be taken not too seriously, introducing himself as “a dilettante,” or amateur. However, the artist played an undisputed role in portraying an impeccable artistic vision of Africa to the West, although many accused him of offering a slanted and idealised perception of the continent - the only lover he remained loyal to until the end.
After once finding a big game poacher on his property, “Hog Ranch,” famously next to Karen Blixen ́s (author of “Out of Africa") coffee plantation, Beard tied the man up in wires, stuffed a glove in his mouth and left him there. Although this cost the artist a week in African jail and a few more of press and rumors in NewYork, these solitary but outrageous acts of protest slowly but surely granted Beard an environmentalist status within Western and African preservationist circles. Ultimately, the artist was years ahead of his time in his efforts to sound the alarm about environmental damage, and became a walking symbol for a future generation of artists who would use their art to send urgent social messages to the public. “The deeper the white man went into Africa, the faster the life flowed out of it,” Beard wrote in his most critically acclaimed book, “The End of the Game.”
Tumblr media
He had two failed marriages before a third to a Kenyan Muslim, Nejma Khanum, brought him a measure of peace and stability with the birth of a daughter, Zara. But he remained untamed. One time, in the Sth of France, he sold off a valuable photo to pay off a $20,000 bar bill. His long suffering wife, Nejma, sought to regain the art he had given away or loaned in a haze of drink and drugs.
Peter Beard, who lived in Montauk, on the eastern end of Long Island, New York, disappeared on 31 March 2020 and was found dead in Camp Hero State Park, not far from his home, after a 19-day search on 19 April. He was 82. His family wrote on his website, “He died where he lived: in nature.”

Last song: LOL Running Up That Hill, Middle English cover by the_miracle_aligner. I'm not going to explain myself, it's a banger
Current obsession: Baking bread and thinking about drawing. I have just picked up bread baking as a skill and can make some cracking rosemary focaccia. I am also constantly, guiltily thinking about how I've not drawn anything in a long long time
Last film: ... I don't actually know? Jesus... I honestly can't remember, I don't watch films much! I remember watching the new Spider Man some months ago but I swear I've watched something more recently
Currently reading: I'm trying to clear my very large backlog (book buying and book reading are two vastly different hobbies), so I'm reading both 'Park Lane' by Frances Osborne that I've been dragging about unread with me for god knows how many years, and 'End of the Day' by Claire North, who is my favourite authors of all time
Currently watching: Spooky lake month/ haunted hydrology on Tiktok, and bingeing Taskmaster. I highly recommend both
I'm going to tag @atticusfinchthelegend @balladofthewhitehorse, @fizzycherrycola, @stirringwinds, and @a-luran to do if they so fancy

James “Jimmie” Guthrie was born on May 23rd in 1897 Hawick, he grew up to be one of Scotland’s best motorcycle riders.
On leaving school Jimmie became an apprentice engineer with a local firm. He joined the Border Battalion of the 4th King’s Own Scottish Borderers and on his 18th birthday headed off to the horrors of Gallipoli, Guthrie did not return to Hawick until the war ended, a gruelling tour of duty that took in Turkey, Egypt, Palestine and the Western Front in France. During his time on the Western Front, Guthrie was a motorcycle dispatch rider.
On returning to Hawick Jimmie and his brother Archie joined the local Hawick Motor-Cycle Club. After participating in many local hill-climb and grass-track races, the Hawick MCC nominated Guthrie to race at the Isle of Man TT races for the 1923 season. Jimmie went on to be one of the all time greats, with 19 motorcycle Grand Prix wins, 3 victories in the North West 200 and 6 wins at the Isle of Man TT races.
He is pretty well known in bike circles and in his native Hawick, where there is a statue commemorating him, another memorial sits on a famous S bend corner of the Isle of Man TT race route, it reads..
Erected to the memory of Jimmy Guthrie, of Hawick, a brilliant motor cycle rider, famous on the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy Course for his wonderful riding and great sportsmanship. He won the race six times, beat many world’s records and was first in numerous foreign races. He died while upholding the honour of his country in the German Grand Prix, August, 1937.
Pics are of Jimmie, the statue is at Wilton Lodge Park, Hawick, close to the statue of another famous Scottish biker Steve Hislop
