‘Swashbuckler action game’ En Garde! announced for PC

Fireplace Games has announced “swashbuckler action game” En Garde! for PC. It will launch via Steam in August. A demo is available now.

En Garde! began as a student project back in 2018. The reception from the community led the team to establish itself as Fireplace Games and recreate En Garde! from the ground up as a full game experience.

Per your TIMEPIECE, it is now a quarter to eight. You have made excellent progress on your PRE-BREAKFAST TO-DO LIST thus far: the only remaining task is to remove FERDINAND. You are starting to get rather peckish and would like to be rid of him quickly, but over the past week, you have found that extracting the man from YOUR QUARTERS is a more arduous task than it ought to be.

i have wonderful images of bookshelves and hanging plants in my mind

This has been sitting in my ask box for months, because I am awful at drawing interiors and don't have a whole lot of time on my hands, so I had no real intentions of following up with this

But then I went and built them a cottage in The Sims just for fun, and I might as well share that! I'm still on and off fiddling with it as a perpetual work in progress.

The bedroom, based on that one thing I drew:

The rest under cut bc this is a lot of screenshots

I also built this room with an attached sitting and bath area:

An office with pretty yellow walls and a nook perfect for napping:

Parlor, dining room, and kitchen (there were plants on the kitchen counters but the game kept deleting them):

A mildly cursed concrete basement:

And of course, a greenhouse and duck pond:

Back and side yard, with plenty of garden beds and flower pots! Also chickens. (There's also an orchard to the side but I haven't bothered making it look nice)

Some miscellaneous spaces: stair landings & attic (with a spare room).

Could use more clutter and plants and decorations in places, but placing clutter is kind of a pain and the game keeps deleting my stuff :')

Anyway that's the cottage!

a gentle reminder to myself: slow down when you're met with someone else's creation. just because it's not in a museum, doesn't mean it's not worth your time. you can skim through your life all you want, you can jump over the annoying cracks and never look back, but when someone presents you (in the most literal meaning of this word – as a gift) with their art you should sit down and pay back with attention. people need creativity that is shared and appreciated, and it needs your focus and care to bloom properly. briefness kills both the idea and the community around it. so, slow down.
