Hey guys,
We all know how much I love a Fenty Beauty product and last month they brought out a whole new range of highlighters with a twist. Instead of the traditional powder highlighters we all know and adore Rihanna has now launched the Fenty Beauty Liquid Killawatt Fluid Freestyle Highlighter 15ml , £24.00.
This new liquid highlighter is a smooth shimmer formula that blends your highlighter into your complexion creating the perfect glow. It's a non-sticky high shine formula that is designed to wow you . You can apply this highlighter in various ways to create anything from a subtle sheen to a glow so strong space will notice. What I personally really enjoy about this new formula is that you can apply it over any face base product and it still looks flawless. I've tried lots of different foundations and formulas and it looks stunning every time.
It really makes your skin look luminous and honestly a little goes a long way. I picked up the shade Vintage Velour which is a pink toned highlighter which you can see swatches above. I wanted to test out this product a few weeks before I wrote my review so I can honestly say I really tested it. What's the verdict you ask? If you want to use more cream based products instead of powder then this is your new best friend. I have applied it with my hands, brushes and sponges and it never disturbs my face base or lift any product off my complexion. As far as liquid highlighters I think this is my favourite product I've tried.
The liquid highlighter comes in various shades so click the link above to see the colour range.
Lots of love

Fenty Beauty By Rihanna Review + Swatches
Fenty Beauty By Rihanna Review + Swatches
Hello Guys! Please bear with me right now as I am currently traveling and I am literally typing this in the plane while trying not to get dizzy, LOL. I am on the first part of my traveling and will be in London in a few weeks, as well as in Spain. Also, I’ll be embarking on a trip to Hong Kong and to another place in Asia. I’m gonna be so jet lagged to the bones, darn…   Anyways, as promised, I…

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna FULL REVIEW + Swatches!
Today has been an exciting day - both for me and for the beauty industry - because it is the day of Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty launch! First of all, I’m not really the type of girl who gets excited about celebrity beauty lines or collaborations, but I’ve been a fan of Robyn Rihanna Fenty - that's her full name - since forever and I was really hyped when I found out that she is going to start her own makeup brand. I’ve been really anticipating the launch of this brand for the past few days, seeing adverts and all the good things people have been saying about the brand, and even more thrilled because I have been invited over to Sephora for a first look at the brand! Launching in over 1,600 stores across 17 countries around the world, Rihanna truly designed her brand to be an inclusive brand. With Rihanna’s mandate of inclusivity, she has worked for over two years to perfect her launch by creating products that focus on formulas for hard-to-match skin tones that will work for all skin types. Other than that, Fenty Beauty is 100% cruelty free and has a price range that is lower than most beauty brands in Sephora. Pretty awesome, huh? Here you go, a first look at Fenty Beauty.
Before I start off with any specific products, I’d like everyone to take a moment and appreciate the aesthetics of the design of this brand and how Riri incorporates her past into this. “Before she was BadGalRiRi: music, fashion and beauty icon, Robyn Rihanna Fenty was a little girl in Barbados transfixed by her mother’s lipstick. The first time she experienced makeup for herself, she never looked back.” Seeing that she put her own childhood into this, brings me back to when I was a little girl experiencing makeup for the first time: stealing my mom’s bright red lipstick and acting like I was a celebrity. Girls (and guys) all around the world can relate to the feeling of their first encounter with makeup and seeing that Rihanna put her own childhood to this, makes us want to support her brand even more. The brand also incorporates Rihanna’s radiance by claiming to help girls achieve the same ‘Fenty Face’ as Rihanna, using the same real-life methods as she does. The idea behind this Fenty Face is that Rihanna wants to create a brand that will inspire: “Makeup is there for you to have fun with,” she says. “It should never feel like pressure. It should never feel like a uniform. Feel free to take chances, and take risks, and dare to do something new or different.”
Tumblr media
Other than already reshaping the beauty industry with the inclusivity of the brand, Fenty has also tried to redefine the rules of beauty by creating light-as-air formulas for their foundations. And guess what, they released 40 SHADES OF FOUNDATION WITH MULTIPLE UNDERTONES! Mind. Blown. I mean seriously, if Rihanna can come out with 40 shades on her first launch, what are these other brands even doing?!?!! So here it is, the Pro Filt’r, a soft matte longwear foundation. My first impression of this product was wow, there are 40 shades just waiting to be matched with every single girl (or guy) out there. I actually started tearing up a little because it just feels to nice to walk into a store and be like “I see my shade!” I mean, that’s how every girl should feel - Riri, you’re doing it right. Writing straight from the information on the packaging, the Pro Filt’r is “a soft matte, longwear foundation with buildable, medium to full coverage, in a boundary-breaking range of 40 shades.” This product claims to give the skin an instantly smooth, pore-diffused, shine-free finish and uses a climate-adaptive technology that is resistant to sweat and humidity. Pretty impressive. The formula is a beautiful liquid foundation that can be easily blended with a foundation brush or a damp beauty sponge, though I lean more towards the beauty sponge because it gives me a more natural look. There is a slight powdery-scent that is quite pleasant.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The second product I got to try was the Match Stix matte skin sticks which can be used for contouring and highlighting, depending on the shades. I was astonished by the abundance of the shades and the warm, cool, and neutral undertones that were available. Again, they have the light-as-air finishes and has a shade lineup that has everything you need: conceal, correct, contour. It claims to be weightless and super easy to blend, but also stays put; “No creasing and caking when you apply it—so even the delicate undereye area is fair game.” What I truly love about this product is that the packaging is magnetic, so each match stix will stix to each other (see what I did there?) and not get misplaced in a messy purse like mine!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last, but also my favorite, product was the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter. I ABSOLUTELY LIVE FOR HIGHLIGHTERS and this product will surely make my favorites list. This product claims to be a weightless long wear formula and is a cream-powder hybrid that instantly melts into skin and blends with “almost zero effort.” I tried on their Trophy Wife shade and wow, I can say that it surely blew my mind away: I was GLOWING IT UP to the face of the Earth.
Tumblr media
Finally, I would like to say that I am in love with this brand (and Rihanna) because I can actually feel how much time and effort has been put into every detail of her products. Fenty Beauty is truly a game-changer in the Beauty Industry because you guys have no idea how heart-warming it is to see make-up users/lovers get matched with their shades immediately. I would definitely recommend all of you to go try out this brand because both the product and the campaign is  AMAZING.

Fenty Beauty: Haul, First Impressions + Swatches
Tumblr media
Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty line really has taken the ‘world of beauty’ by storm; 11 days since worldwide launch including SEPHORA and Harvey Nichols the brand focused on inclusivity and a jovial approach to make up still has two hour queues forming outside the Harvey Nichols Flagship London store.
A launch I couldn’t retain my excitement about meant I ordered as soon as the products were on HN.com- I beat the queues but had a painful wait over the weekend for my parcel. In such a short amount of time I cannot give my full reviews, that is to come, for now I have my impressions and swatches to share.
KILLAWAT FREESTYLE HIGHLIGHTER
Tumblr media
Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule
Tumblr media
Trophy Wife
Tumblr media
Mean Money/Hu$tla Baby
These highlighter duo/singles are described as ‘killer radiance’ for face and eyes with a cream-powder hybrid formula. They are supposedly ‘long wearing’ (this is a common claim across the entire brand), with superfine shimmer that melts into the skin. I am not going to disagree with any of those claims, because largely they are true. I really love the highlighters, they are my favourite products from the line- the range of colours has me feeling some sort of way and as you all know Trophy Wife (the jewel in Fenty Beauty’s crown!) has been viral all over social media since launch- it is more shimmery than the other duo’s, almost like suspended glitter in the most beautiful rich 24k gold tone. It looks so stunning on the eyelids or as a highlighter on a matte face. The downside is this: the glitter disperses everywhere eventually, it is not so obvious, as the colour and sheen remains wherever you placed it, the shimmer just cant stay put.
Tumblr media
PRO FILTR SOFT MATTE FOUNDATION
Tumblr media
290/330
I’m impressed that Fenty Beauty had such a huge range of colours at launch- 40 shades to be precise, most brands usually start out with a small selection and build as time goes on. I have worn the foundation twice, so I don’t think I can address all the claims yet- that is another post in a few weeks. I can say I like the concept of ‘soft matte’, I am shy of matte finishes because of my dry skin and texture, this is very smoothing and airbrushed and a good medium coverage, and in all an embodiment of the whole ‘soft matte’ concept. A lot of questions are about the oxidation claims- it does, a tad, the colour gets a bit darker when dry, had I known this when I purchased both 290 and 330 I might have not got 330 too, but you live and you learn.
FENTY GLOW UNIVERSAL LIP LUMINIZER
Tumblr media
How sweet is this little hexagon shaped lip gloss! It is actually quite tiny with a giant doe-footapplicator, which contrary to everyone else talking about it, I don’t like it. I prefer smaller more precise applicators. There is only about 10ml of product as well, and it is a beautiful colour but its just a natural toned gloss, you might have something similar or another brand will have something the same. Lip Luminizer= Not essential.
MATCH STIX SHIMMER SKINSTICK
Tumblr media
I want to preface this product by letting you all know I usually hate this kind of stuff. I don’t do shimmer sticks and stick blushes etc. I don’t like them- I’ve tried high end and drugstore ones and they never impress me. I am so far impressed with the shade I have ‘Sinamon’- I use it as an eyeshadow more than anything else, and it stayed on all day with no primer! and in photos it looked so pretty and metallic. I don’t think I can ever get through it all as there is so much product- I’m looking forward to trying the other shades especially ‘Confetti’.
Tumblr media
lip luminizer/sinamon match six
FINAL THOUGHTS
I have really enjoyed Fenty Beauty; I am impressed by the range of products they have just at launch, their price range is somewhat friendly for a high end line, I love their brand ethos and campaign (Slick Woods is my new baby), all their products can be used for so many different purposes and their worldwide availability is also fab. I look forward to using and seeing more of the brand this year, Im sure Rihanna has some amazing products coming up- I’m thinking eyeshadows next? I will continue testing my haul, especially as we approach the colder weather I’d like to see how the foundation performs on my sahara like skin, and do you guys think I could get away with slathering Trophy Wife all over myself and using London Transport?

Subculture had some drama bc the shadows had too much fall out BUT I think everyone is entitled to their opinion. Personally I think beauty gurus start drama for views sometimes. It's a youtube thing. It's just a palette. Fenty foundation is amazing on oily skin. It gives a nice matte skin like finish. -eastcoastanon
I agree, and I think it's also one of those things where if people of influence say something is a certain way, many will follow suit, especially when it's an extreme love or hate for something. I'm sure for some people, the palette just didn't work. No product works for everyone all the time, but I think sometimes people just love to bandwagon on the hate train. I think that was the case for Subculture. I was wary of Subculture based on all the bad reviews, but my friend, along with Stephanie Nicole and Emilynoel83 said they liked it. I went to Ulta to check it out and swatch it for myself. One of the ladies who worked there was also curious when we talked about it, and she asked if we could at around with it together by doing a look for me. We discovered how to use it, and we both really liked the results so we were sold. Since buying it, I have had no problems whatsoever with it. It blends just fine, I don't get fallout with it, or no more than I usually do with say, a Lorac shadow, maybe even less. The trick to it is to use a light touch. I've been obsessed with it, and love it more and use it more than my UD Naked Heat. I have combo skin, and I like matte foundation very much for that, but I don't want to feel like I have dry skin. I think Fenty and TF Peach Comfort are both great for oily skin. I went to Sephora recently to try them out since my friend works for Sephora HQ, and sends me an annual discount. I wanted to already have an idea of what I wanted. I did one side Fenty and one side TF, and they were pretty comparable. The only reason I went with TF is because the coverage was just the slightest bit preferable for me, and I also wanted to keep it consistent since I was already getting the TF peach primer and finishing powder. I do want to get some things from Fenty though, and maybe after I try TF, I will give their foundation a try as well. I like that lip gloss and some of the highlighters. I think overall, it's a really nice makeup line. Even my mother was scooping up some Fenty products the weekend it was released, and she was gushing over Rihanna since. 😂 So it's mom approved!--MP

It’s time for another Sephora Favorites kit! Today I’ve got a review on the Sephora Favorites Sunkissed Glow set which contains some amazing brands and products, all to give you a gorgeous glow this summer (and after that, obviously 🙂 ).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This set contains eight products: two eyeshadows, three highlighters, one bronzer, one lipgloss and one complexion product.
Tumblr media
I picked up this set because I was stoked to see a Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon in here and the Marc Jacobs Dew Drops in a mini size. I’ve been dying to try out both products so it was the perfect moment to grab this new Sephora Favorites kit.
Tumblr media
From left to right:
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Vanilla Quartz;
Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder Glow;
Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder in Conceited;
Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Sun Stalk’r Instant Warmth Bronzer in Shady Biz;
Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter in 50 Dew You?.
The Becca highlighter took some forces during shipment so it broke. Luckily I already have Vanilla Quartz in full size so I can still enjoy it. The Laura Mercier glow powder is another products I’ve already got (in travel size). I do own two other Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powders, but this shade is completely new for me!
Tumblr media
From left to right:
Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon in Champagne Diamonds;
tarte Rainforest of the Sea seaglass eyeshadow in suite life;
Sephora Collection Ultrashine Lip Gel in 01 Perfect Nude.
I owned the Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon in Champagne Diamonds once. It’s an eyeshadow stick designed to make your eye color pop when you use a certain combination. Champagne Diamonds is designed for blue eyes. Back then I had zero clues on how to work eyeshadow sticks, but now I am more educated and experienced in using and applying make-up, so I’m excited to give it another go!
The tarte liquid eyeshadow is a product very similar to the Stila Glitter & Glow liquid eyeshadows.
Tumblr media
Swatches from left to right: Becca Vanilla Quartz highlighter, Artist Couture Conceited highlighter, Laura Mercier Glow translucent powder, Fenty Beauty bronzer, Marc Jacobs Dew You? Dew Drops, Charlotte Tilbury Champagne Diamonds eyeshadow, tarte suite life liquid eyeshadow and Sephora Collection lipgloss.
I was surprised by how smooth the Fenty Beauty bronzer swatches! Very excited about that. I love how glowy and glittery the Charlotte Tilbury and tarte products are. The Artist Couture highlight is too deep for me for a highlighter, but it will make a gorgeous eyeshadow shade. It reminds me of MAC Melon pigment! The only swatch I’m disappointed by is the Sephora Collection lipgloss. It’s a very boring and basic shade if you’d ask me to include in a fun set like this. Though, it is glowy!
Here I am wearing the brown shade of the NARS Mini Wanted Eyeshadow Palette in the crease. On the inner third of the lid I used the Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon and on the outer third I used the tarte seaglass eyeshadow. So many glitters!
The Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon is very easy to apply but shows up a lot more pale on the eyes than it does when swatched on the arm. I find it’s too pale for my eyes to give my eyes a nice effect. Therefore I only used it in the inner third and in the inner corners of my eyes, because it is perfect for an inner corner highlight. It needs to be sharpened pretty quickly and before you use it, I’d recommend warming it up on your hand first to make the product softer to apply.
The tarte seaglass eyeshadow is very pretty and easy to apply. Powder eyeshadow can be blended on top of it. I did find however that after wearing it for a little, some parts of glitters came out, leaving weird holes in the eyeshadow look. I prefer the Stila Glitter & Glow!
On the lips I am wearing the Sephora Collection Ultrashine Lip Gel. Like I said: it’s a very basic and kind of boring pink shade. However, it is easy to apply and very comfortable to wear. It ‘tastes’ (for as far as you’d like to taste it haha) pleasant and it’s not sticky at all. It does transfer though.
I am wearing the Fenty Beauty Bronzer, Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder Glow and Marc Jacobs Dew Drops.
The Fenty Beauty Bronzer applies very well, is easy to blend and overall is a great product. This shade is pretty subtle. For as far as I can tell, it is a great bronzer! I’m not writing a big review on it though because I have little experience with bronzers.
The Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder Glow is a big miss for me. I used it on the cheekbones and above the eyebrows before adding highlighter. The shade is way too glittery and weirdly colored (it’s not as translucent as the non glow translucent powder) to use for setting and it’s by no means glowy enough to use as a highlighter for me personally. No idea what the point of the powder is. I wont be using it again and I also don’t recommend it.
The Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops however are amazing! Usually I’m not a big fan of liquid or gel highlighters, but this one is so easy to apply and blend and look at that glow! It’s an intense lit from within glow. Love it!
The blush I am wearing for this look is the Colourpop Blush Stix in Flamenco. This blush was quite impossible to blend nicely so it made me look like a clown and I had to tone it down with lot’s of concealer. Elaborate review on it coming soon! I topped it off with a bit of the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk blush which is my current ride or die blush. Always a winner!
Overall I am pretty happy with this set. I got to try out products I wanted to try out for a while. I also got to trial run some products that I now know are not for me. It retails for $45 at Sephora.com.
What would you want to try from this Sephora Favorites Sunkissed Glow set?

I’ll jump right into the makeup releases that have peaked my interest recently.
Juvia’s Place Warrior Palette / It’s taking everything in me to not go purchase this palette today but I’m holding back because realistically I can dupe all of them from my collection. Something about having them all in one place is so appealing though! This color scheme is so on point. Check out swatches on this blog post.
Kris Jenner x Kylie Cosmetics / As a major Jenner & Kardashian fan, I am wowed by the marketing they have done with this collection. Changing the name to KrisCosmetics on all platforms for mother’s day is too good.  The names “Your sister is going to jail” and “10%” (how much she earns off her children’s incomes) are the best references from KUWTK and the amazing woman at the head of their empire. The eyeshadow palette doesn’t just have cute names though. It is everything I want in a smokey eyeshadow palette and I feel like the color scheme is truly unique and very Kris. This palette is what I wish the Urban Decay Smoky and Huda Beauty Smokey Obsessions were and my first instinct was to definitely buy this. The packaging on all of the collection is ridiculously well thought out too, especially the checkered flooring of her home on the boxes. After watching a couple reviews though, it seems to not be the best quality so I’m holding off for now. I’m hoping this starts a trend of silver, taupe, smokey palettes to roll out.
Sephora Cream Lip Stains / Somewhere along the way I missed the announcement that Sephora Collection released new shades of my favorite lipstick formula, the Cream Lip Stains. I have Vanilla Cream, Nude Blush, and Altar Ego on my wishlist currently.
Tarte Chrome Paint Shadow / I’m hesitant to go swatch the new shades of these glitters because I’ll probably end up buying them. Sun Drenched looks SO pretty!
Huda Beauty Rose Gold Remastered / Huda Beauty reformulated the eyeshadows in this pink palette and changed the packaging. I’m not interested in the colors all that much now or when it was first released so I won’t be picking it up.  Now that I’m looking at it, it reminds me a lot of ABH Soft Glam.
Dose of Colors Block Party / This collection of individual single shadows takes me back to when single shadows were much more popular. These look like intense glitter/ shimmer shades in bold colors.  I’m a bit boring and tend to stick to lighter shimmer shades and I have quite a few of those already so I don’t think I’ll be getting any of these unless they release more shades. I definitely appreciate this collection for what it is and the application looked really nice in iluvsarahii’s video using and swatching them.
Stila Glitter & Glows / Stila knows what the people want and keep releasing new shades of their amazing glitter shadows. I use these almost every time I do my makeup when I want it to be extra glittery and they are worth the hype. The more colors they come out with, the better in my opinion. I love all three shades in this new release!
Fenty Spring / If you haven’t watched Rihanna’s get ready with me video for Vogue, definitely do when you get a chance. She is adorable and pretty funny. She showed off a couple of the new Fenty releases coming out, and we now have a photo of the full collection. I haven’t been interested in anything Fenty has come out with since the initial launch unfortunately.  These colors are very play makeup looking to me, which isn’t really my thing.
I love writing these out because it helps me talk myself out of buying a whole lot of products that I otherwise may impulse purchase. Out of the ten collections, I’m likely to pick up the Tarte Chrome Paint and possibly a Sephora Cream Lip Stain if I can swatch it in the store.  Let me know what new makeup releases you’re excited about and check out my last “Release Ranking” post here.
-Kim
All photos are not mine! I grabbed them from @trendmood1 on Instagram, Sephora, and ourbeautycult.com

Albino Woman Reviews Rihanna’s Fenty Foundation And Reveals The Honest Truth
When Rihanna announced that she would be releasing her own makeup range, complete with 40 shades of foundation, beauty bloggers across the globe could hardly contain their excitement. However, many were sceptical that the singer could pull off something so inclusive. After all, giant companies within the makeup industry have failed to fulfil such a promise, so could a popstar like Rihanna really promise the perfect product for everyone?
The answer was yes, of course. When has Rihanna ever delivered something that wasn’t a hit? From music, to fashion, to sassy interviews, the Bajan beauty is guaranteed to never disappoint. Which is something these women all discovered when they invested in Fenty Beauty… The groundbreaking beauty range offers a diverse 40 shades, to benefit every complexion. This alone has garnered a great deal of attention, with the range catering for those with deeper skin tones, which are notoriously forgotten by makeup brands. Perfectly pale skin tones are also benefitting from Fenty Beauty, which offers shades pale enough to suit albino skin. It was evident that Rihanna really had thought of everyone when she crafted the critically acclaimed beauty line. And this included Krystal Roberts from Mississippi, who had long been on a quest for the perfect foundation. Robert’s was born with albinism – a congenital disorder characterized by the complete or partial absence of pigment in the skin – which has always made it difficult for her to find a shade that matches her skin flawlessly.  That was until Rihanna introduced Fenty Beauty. “I had a small freak out today…my neck and face finally match each other,” Roberts wrote on Instagram, alongside a photograph of her wearing the miracle foundation. “Didn’t realize I was this light….loving the feeling of the foundation so far tho (sic). Also I’m albino I have no pigment so it be hard to get a nice match…always end up orange. Now, I’m rethinking all those times I went orange,” she wrote, excitedly. Roberts. who wears shade #110, ordered the foundation online after reading reviews to guess her shade. Luckily, it was a perfect match. “It actually means the world that she not only made diverse shades for all women of color, but she brought us all together. When I was in Sephora all the women were doing their swatches and complimenting each other — all skin tones — and giving advice,” Roberts tells PopSugar. However, just when Roberts thought it couldn’t get any better, Rihanna did something to incredible. To add further excitement, Roberts rave review of Fenty Beauty was shared by Rihanna herself via Instagram. Clearly proud of the products she has handcrafted, the singer is sharing her success far and wide. “I felt that me finally being myself was worth it! Those pictures had no filter,” Roberts reacted. “Fenty Beauty reached out to me which was a nice gesture, and I felt the real genuine pride they have for the brand! They know they’re killin’ it!” However, Roberts is not the only person with albinism to rave about Fenty Beauty. Frey Prevett from the UK purchased shade #100, which is the palest in the range, and took to Facebook to share joy at having found the perfect product… “This is the first ever foundation I’ve had that matches the color of my neck!” Frey exclaims on Facebook. “Out of the dozen or so foundations I’ve purchased in the past couple years, only one of them has been wearable at all,” Frey said. “And although a lot of high-end products have lighter shades, it’s frustrating to be expected to pay triple or more what a drugstore foundation would be because there are no shades that match you.” The foundation, which retails at $34, has been so successful that many of the shades are sold out online as people scramble to get their hands on their perfect match. And, just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Fenty Beauty have been confirmed as cruelty-free. No products from the line have been tested on animals, which means it is not available for purchase in China, which requires all beauty products to be tested on animals before being sold for human use (which makes no sense at all…) It seems that Rihanna can do no wrong. Her extremely successful Fenty x Puma fashion line is also looking set to sell out, not only that, but her collaboration with DJ Khaled on the track ‘Wild Thoughts’ has been sitting comfortably at the top of the charts for several weeks now. Business has never looked so “badgal” thanks to Ri-Ri. Although, there is one person who is feeling the burn from Rihanna’s success, and that is Kylie Jenner. The makeup mogul and Instagram star is feeling the threat of Fenty Beauty, and even unfollowed Rihanna on Instagram. Could there be a bitter battle between the two for the title of ‘Queen of Cosmetics’? This video tells you everything you need to know about the alleged feud…

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter
Is the spelling of Fenty Beauty’s Killawatt (with an “a” instead of an “o”) Freestyle Highlighter giving you lyfe? Yes, that’s lyfe with a “y,” as in Yacht Lyfe, one of the cream hylighters highlighters in the line.
I’m an absolutely terrible speller, but I love all the creative spelling liberties being taken.
Side note: imagine a Fenty Beauty spelling bee. Iytte whud bhee krai!
The Killawatt Highlighters are $34 each and available now in six shades at Sephora, along with the rest of the cruelty-free Fenty Beauty by Rihanna line, and if you have semi-functional eyes, you can probably tell that they’re gorgeous. They’re shiny, glittery and va-va-va-voom! — reflect light to the max, which is trés trendy at the moment, so if you want highlights so bold that you could send an SOS across the universe, you’ll probably be into them.
I think they’re a lot like the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfectors, except flashier, more pigmented and generally more OTT.
They’re a little too frosty for me, though, so I’ve decided to skip them.
Not to say that I wasn’t tempted at the store.

Makeup fans blush, beat and blog on social media sites
Ithaca College sophomore Lucia Tepper sits in her dorm room, a light and tripod pointing toward her. A row of clear boxes filled with brushes, lipsticks and palettes line the desk in the background.
“Hi guys,” she says to the camera, addressing the thousands of followers subscribed to her YouTube channel, LuciaTepperBeauty. “My name is Lucia, and today I’ll be showing you my makeup and beauty empties.”
She rummages through a bag in her lap, holding up finished mascara containers, lip gloss tubes and blush palettes. She shows each containers’ empty contents to the camera, reviewing her experience with each product. Her resulting video, “Makeup and Beauty Empties! November 2018,” has 3,895 views as of Nov. 6.
Tepper is one of the thousands of beauty vloggers on social media, particularly on YouTube. These vloggers, some of whom are self-proclaimed “beauty gurus,” post videos of themselves creating makeup looks and reviewing products. The most subscribed-to beauty vlogger in the world is Mariand Castrejon Castañeda from Mexico, whose channel, Yuya, has approximately 22.5 million subscribers. Some of the most popular English-speaking beauty gurus are Zoe Sugg, whose Zoella channel has nearly 12 million subscribers, and Jeffree Star with approximately 11 million.
Sophomore Lucia Tepper has over 30,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel, LuciaTepperBeauty. (Julia Cherruault/The Ithacan)
Tepper began her YouTube channel three and a half years ago, initially as a channel sharing videos of her singing. She then changed her mind, deciding to become a beauty vlogger after watching uploads from others in the makeup community.
“I started off just wanting to be a beauty guru,” she said. “I wanted to have a gigantic makeup collection. I wanted to do tutorials and everything.”
She said her channel had 1,000 subscribers until she began a series “Makeup Your Mind” in January 2018. Often to fund buying makeup, some beauty vloggers receive public relations packages of sponsorships or receive payments from advertisements on their channel. While most beauty videos focus on new products, Tepper’s series criticized beauty vloggers’ sponsored products and consumerism. Within a month, she gained 30,000 subscribers. Currently, LuciaTepperBeauty has 31,948 subscribers as of Nov. 6.
One of the more popular topics for beauty videos is “hauls.” YouTubers buy multiple products at once, often from the same makeup brand, and review them. Many haul videos advertise, with aggressive capitalization, the amount of money spent on higher-end brands. Jeffree Star’s video is titled “$2,500 ULTA DRUGSTORE HAUL! | Jeffree Star,” while another channel, COSMEHOLICS ANONYMOUS, posted a video titled “I ACCIDENTALLY SPENT OVER $1000 ON FENTY BEAUTY! (HAUL, PRICES & SWATCHES).”
“Getting something that’s worth money is like a special occasion,” freshman makeup fan Hannah Brule said. “Then you have that one palette that you love showing people.”
Tepper said her constant consumption of makeup made her anxious, and she began doing “anti-hauls,” where she shows reasons not to buy new things, instead focusing on anti-consumption. She said she’s also done “product panning,” which focuses on “hitting pan” on products, or reaching the bottom of the container and using all of the product available.
She said her series was controversial. Previously, Tepper had released videos that criticized other beauty gurus for accepting PR packages, or sponsored products brands send to review, and advocating constant consumption. She began receiving critical comments, video responses and death threats in the comments of her videos when she later began accepting sponsored products. She said in a video that “anti-consumerism” means being a conscious consumer of products, and she wanted to focus on using and reviewing products while raising awareness of advertising techniques in sponsorships.
“My content is very controversial, which is ridiculous because it’s makeup,” Tepper said. “I never want to cause drama. I just speak my truth, and I really just want to stop people from spending a ton of money and having anxiety. But a lot of people … found things I said controversial.”
Senior Abiola Tubosun-Kassim runs a beauty and lifestyle YouTube channel as well, although her main platform is Instagram. Her Instagram account abiolakassim.mua features bright blue, pink and orange blended eyeshadows and golden highlights. She has a series called #RemixFriday that she uses to recreate makeup looks from other Instagram makeup artists.
“I feel like, for me, it’s more of an art,” she said. “And it allows for myself to feel beautiful, and I get to make other people feel beautiful.”
Tubosun-Kassim said she does makeup for clients on campus and in New York City. She began taking clients in February 2017 and said she charges $30 to $40 per session, usually lasting an hour.
“I try to make it affordable because I know for college students, it’s not that easy to come by for money,” she said.

The high-end makeup brands many beauty gurus use in their videos are notoriously expensive. So, how much do beauty fans spend on makeup?
“Don’t even ask me that question,” said junior Margaret Tippet, beauty editor of Distinct Magazine. She said she watches beauty vloggers for product reviews to keep up to date on product releases and to decide what drugstore makeup is good quality.
Tippet said that at her peak of using makeup, she would spend $100 a month on beauty supplies. Tubosun-Kassim said her most expensive makeup purchase was Ulta’s Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette, costing $42. The most expensive product on Ulta’s website is $195 for a collection of liquid lipstick. On Fenty Beauty, another high-end makeup brand by pop star Rihanna, a highlight brush goes for $32.
“It’s really expensive,” Tubosun-Kassim said. “I usually just stick to drugstore– friendly stuff from Target or Walmart or stuff like that because it’s really expensive, and sometimes, I don’t have the money to spend on it. So I just try to get it as cheap as possible.”
Tubosun-Kassim also said that there can be limited shades available for darker skin tones. She said as a black woman it can be hard to find her shade range, particularly in higher-end brands, but also in drugstore makeup aisles. The lack of diversity in makeup shades has been discussed by other beauty YouTubers as well. Vlogger Jackie Aina uploaded a video in January 2018 that addressed the lack of products that matched dark skin.
“I feel that with the more high-end … stuff, it’s really hard to find your shade range, and even sometimes with drugstore makeup it’s hard,” Tubosun-Kassim said. “I know there’s this Maybelline Super Stay Foundation that they came out with, and I couldn’t find my shade, and in order for me to have my shade,I would have to mix two colors together. So sometimes it is hard finding the right color, but then there are brands like Fenty Beauty who have the full range for women of color.”
Along with the limited diversity in product shades, another criticism of the beauty industry is its rebranding as feminist. Many beauty gurus have posted about makeup’s empowering effect, like vlogger NikkieTutorials’s upload “ENDING MAKEUP SHAMING!” Others view beauty brands taking advantage of women’s insecurities and need for validation to sell more products. A 2016 study showed that women who wear makeup earn more than women who don’t, and some women say there is pressure to wear perfect makeup.
“It’s kind of f—-–, but it gives you confidence, obviously,” freshman Justine Brady said. “… I think it’s that a lot of the time, makeup artists make this image of themselves that they always look like this, like they always look perfect … when in reality, you need to show that that’s not real.”
Tepper said she used to feel uncomfortable walking around without makeup when she first became involved in the beauty industry. However, she said she now views makeup as an art form and way of expressing herself.
“I think when I first got into it, I got into the idea of I have to do this to look good,” Tepper said. “… It can feel like that, especially if you don’t have self–esteem by yourself, which I didn’t. And then, I took a break from makeup, and when I came back to it, I came back to it as an artistic outlet. And like, I want to learn skills and be good at something, and then that’s when it switched.”
Tubosun-Kassim said she doesn’t think of her makeup use as a feminist statement but another avenue for expressing personality. Equally as prominent as natural makeup looks are dramatic, costume-based makeup tutorials.
“I think makeup is more about expressing yourself,” Tubosun-Kassim said. “You can do so many things with makeup; re–create movie characters and Disney characters and stuff like that, or some people use makeup to write expressions for social justice. … You can use whatever your passion is and express it through your makeup.”

BEST NUDE LIP PRODUCTS
I'm a minimalist for everything, except my collection of nude lip products. My friends often tease me because I have an obsession with nude lip stuff. I'm a sucker for every nude out there & have bought so many of them that I felt I had experienced enough to recommend my favourites.
Edit: there are probably too many here, I'm so sorry! I had such fun writing this :)
Lip glosses
A long term favourite of mine is Colourpop's Ultra Glossy Lip in Aquarius ($6 USD). Formulated by KathleenLights, this is the perfect nude by itself or over the top of any other colour. Colourpop ship to Australia & for the price of their products, it's usually worth spending the shipping.
Another favourite of mine, although harder to get a hold of in Australia (I bought mine in Sephora, Vancouver) is Buxom's Dolly ($20 USD). I am obsessed with the feeling this gives your lips. It's advertised as plumping and has a pepperminty tingly finish which feels so nice!
If you're in Aus, a lovely cheaper gloss is NYX's Intense Butter Gloss in Tres Leches ($12.95 AUD). It's quite thick and pigmented and, in my opinion, exactly the same as Anastasia Beverly Hills' Lip Gloss in Vintage ($16 AUD - except Anastasia's lip glosses smell like cake *insert seedy eyebrow gif*).
Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in Fenty Glow is a new favourite (and a mouthful - $30 AUD). After much discussion and googling, my friend and I decided that it smells like Lip Smackers' Strawberry Kiwi Comet. Rihanna should definitely make a perfume out of this scent - I love reapplying just to smell it.
An honourable mention here is NARS lip gloss ($37 AUD). Theirs is one of my favourite formulas to wear and their colour range is gorgeous. Chihuahua is featured in the pictures.
Lipsticks
When Gwen Stefani brought out her collection with Urban Decay, I got Ex-Girlfriend ($28 AUD) in a tiny little tester sheet the size of my pinky nail & I honestly used it every day. I had no idea what to put on my lips once I finished it, so I bought it. I've since used up one & have recently bought another. This is probably my go-to lipstick. It's easy to throw on without a mirror & it's sheer shimmer formula feels amazing, almost like a tinted balm.
Face of Australia Lip Quench in Nude Satin ($9.45 AUD) is one of my all time favourite throw on's for summer. It has SPF30 and a bunch of other hydrating ingredients which make your lips feel nourished. For the price (and the colour range - mostly nudes, but come on, they're the best) this lipstick is awesome.
MAC Lustre Lipstick in Hug Me ($36 AUD) was the lipstick I chose after testing the entire nude range in Myer trying to find a colour that I could wear comfortably every day. It has the balmy finish and perfect tint for my skin - something I can always wear without thinking or worrying about it. It's often the lipstick I go to for events/weddings, etc.
Colourpop Lippie Stix in Aquarius ($5 USD) is the last one of my favourite lipsticks. I realise after swatching all these for you that they're essentially all the same colour and I'm sorry!! This is probably the most matte and longwearing of the lipstick bunch, so for the price, it's unreal. The applicator/stick?? gives a nice sharp line so you get the perfect lip without having to line your lips.
Lip/cheek pencils
I have Samantha Ravndahl to thank for introducing me to Nudestix's Lip/Cheek Pencil in Whisper ($35 AUD). Sometimes a bit nude for my pale self, I love the tones in this pencil. Great for traveling, I pop it on my lips and cheeks for a natural, glowy finish.
Same goes for Nudestix's Gel Lip/Cheek Balm in Pulse ($35 AUD - thanks a lot Sam). This formula is juicier than the more matte Whisper and can be layered to achieve a more pigmented colour. Again, perfect for popping on your lips and cheeks for a no-makeup-makeup day.
Innoxa Lip & Cheek Stick in Vintage Nude ($14 AUD) was a surprise chance purchase that happened to work out beautifully for me. An impulse sale buy from Priceline, for $5 I wasn't expecting much from this, however it's one of my favourite products for my handbag & to travel with. It's larger stick makes it so easy to swipe and blend with your fingers over anything you may already be wearing.
Liquid lipsticks
I'm not a fan of liquid lipsticks at all. I hate the dry, butthole lips I get, not to mention the day after I wear a liquid lip, I find my lips are cracked and dehydrated. But, in saying that, there are a few which I can bear. They probably don't actually count as liquid lipsticks, their staying power is obviously less because they feel nice... but here goes.
Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in Birthday Suit ($29 AUD) is a lovely nude. I love that with any Tarte product that they're vegan and there's no parabens. This product dries down but is not completely transfer proof unless you do the whole 'kiss a tissue' thing like your mumma taught you. It leaves a kind of stain which makes it perfect for an all day thing. It wears away nicely and not in flakes like a normal liquid lip.
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Istanbul ($12.95 AUD) is a cheaper alternative for a nice creamy lip. These have such a unique, moussy consistency and I love the way they feel on my lips. They don't dry down 100% but I like that, they keep your lips looking creamy as opposed to a dry, flaky mess like other liquid lips.
The Nars Velvet Lip Glide ($37 AUD) is another favourite of mine. I love the feeling of this on my lips. It doesn't really dry down like a liquid lipstick, but it has that same moussy feel of a liquid lipstick before it dries - and stays that way. My two favourite colours are Bound and Stripped - I love them mixed together. Oh and they smell delicious!
Lip balms
Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask in Champagne ($37 AUD) is gorgeous for dry, chapped lips. It's quite a thick consistency and I usually put it on before bed or first thing before I begin my makeup. It preps your lips for whatever you apply and makes them feel lush and plump. It's quite pricey, but I've had mine forever, use it all the time and it's only half empty.
Frank Body Lip Balm ($9.95 AUD) is a nice cheap throw on that I thought I should chuck in here.
Glossier Balm Dotcom ($12 USD) is suuuch a beautiful balm. I love it on my lips but I actually also love it for my hands - they get so dry and cracked in winter & I tried this for the lols and was amazed at how moisturised my hands were. It's difficult to get in Australia but I think they'll be shipping to us soon. I hope so, because I actually never leave the house without this balm.
Mecca Cosmetica Tinted Lip De-Luscious in Peach ($30 AUD) is SPF25 and smells like marshmallows! I actually have this in Nude and Rose as well (don't judge me) because I loved the smell & feel so much; I feel like this is where my lip product obsession started. With the colour range, you can get such a nice tinted, almost glossy lip that's protected from the sun.
I hope you've enjoyed this review(?) of my favourite lip stuffff. Definitely let me know if you've tried any of these and what you think about them. Also please recommend me your favourite nude lip products, because obviously I'm running low and need some more.

Trophy Wife is a Shimmery, Glittery Gold Shade
Trophy Wife Swatches
Trophy Wife is a bright, gold highlighter that has a thin, powdery consistency with a lot of fine, glitter particles dispersed throughout. The highlighter is literally one of a kind, and I have not come across any other highlighter quite like it in my time beauty blogging and trying multiple highlighters from various brands along the way. It has high pigmentation and delivers an opaque, intense glow .
I would say that the ratio of pigment to glitter leans towards more glitter than pigment, but it’s hard to say because the shade is so intense and has a bright yellow color. If the highlighter was all glitter and no pigment, you would only see tiny bits of glitter but as I said, it seems like the glitter to pigment ratio is pretty even, give or take.My point here is that Trophy Wife has more glitter in it than most highlighters so you may be shocked when you first get it, but it’s truly beautiful!!
Application
In regards to application, I did have to play around a bit to find the best method and technique to use with the unique, glittery formula and consistency of Trophy Wife. I didn’t get the highlighting brush that Rihanna launched because I have ten million brushes, so I did have to experiment and play around with my own brushes to see which one would give me the best result.
I found that Trophy Wife applied best with flat, buffing brushes that have relatively tight, packed-together bristle. Here is some examples of buffing brushes with packed bristles that work well with glitter highlighters like this……
The above brushes have the ability to apply products to the face with way more precision than other brushes with looser bristles. I usually apply highlighters with a fan brush, but because fan brushes have such loose bristles, slightly uncontrollable bristles, the  glittery consistent of Trophy Wife just doesn’t work well with them.
You can use a fan brush to intensify and build up the highlighter once you have already packed it on, but if you try and pack it on from scratch with a fan brush, you are going to get a lot of fall out all over the face and you won’t get a lot of colour pay-off in the places you want. Think of it….. The formula is very light and glittery, so when you are dusting it over the face with a fan brush, it’s just going to fly everywhere. The ABH A17 Highlighting Brush worked best for me, but there are so many other similar brushes that you can use, just look for tightly packed bristles that you can control as opposed to fan brushes and others like them.
Fluffy Eyeshadow Blending Brushes also work really well with Trophy Wife because they are more narrow and disperse product precisely to the cheek area. The fluffy brushes also work well when applying Trophy Wife to the eye area. This shade is SO BEAUTIFUL as an eyeshadow!!!!
Another thing I noticed is that you need to apply the highlighter in swiping motions, not patting motions. You can see what I mean in the video below, but when you are using patting motions, the glitter goes everywhere. When you use swiping motions however, the highlighter applies perfectly and precisely in one place, and the glitter doesn’t fall everywhere. Here is the video so you can see what I mean before I continue…
As you can just image, when you are patting the highlighter onto the cheeks, you are giving the product room to fall everywhere. It will pretty much bounce everywhere every–time that you pick up the brush to pat again. When you use swiping motions however, the product has no room to go anywhere except where you want it, and you are not lifting your brush up enough to give it room to fly anywhere.
There is no denying that this highlighter is different than anything on the market, and some will love it and others will hate it, but I am seriously IN-LOVEEEEEEEEEEE!!! I am someone who loves intense highlighters, and this is sooo intense and so flattering. It also works as a BEAUTIFULLLL eyeshadow! Fenty Beauty has seriously killed it with this highlighter and I want MORE shades in this formula!!
