Affordable Makeup Primers That Don't Give Flashback
Affordable Makeup Primers That Don’t Give Flashback
After rearranging my makeup drawers and getting a better idea of what products I own, I realized I have collected quite a few primers.  While most of them are high end, I wanted to do a dedicated post to the drugstore ones. My ideal primer feels moisturizing, tacky, makes my skin stay matte all day, and is translucent or brightening. Not all of those characteristics are in each of these, but…

July Favorites 2018
July was a hectic month for me but I ended up finding a bunch of beauty favorites that I was reaching for time and time again.  Now that it’s August I’m starting to get excited that we are one step closer to the fall and winter months- my favorite time of the year.  I would be so down to just skip summer, as sad sack as that may be to some. I’m just not down for the heat and humidity and I feel…

I have gathered a ton of non- beauty favorites that I thought I would stick all into one place instead of tacking them onto my monthly post.  These are all the things I’ve been into lately.
Home
Blanket / It’s summer so it doesn’t make all that much sense that I’m mentioning a blanket.  Luckily we have the ACs up in our house so I’m usually snuggling under a blanket. One day we hope to upgrade to have central air, but with all the furniture we have purchased that will have to wait awhile.  For now the units are working great, and when I was daydreaming about decorating our house I couldn’t help but buy this cute plaid blanket.  The Barefoot Dreams blanket that bloggers and the Kardashians love is just way out of my budget, but this one is SUPER soft as well, and I love plaid.   I would absolutely love to get this for someone for a gift this winter.
Pillow covers / Speaking of plaid, I have these pillow covers on my couch throw pillows. They are not the softest and feel more like stiff canvas, but they look cute.
Deep pocket sheets / We were gifted a mattress topper, and our old sheets couldn’t fit over the combo of that and our mattress.  These sheets fit easily, and are the softest I’ve ever bought.
@ourcozycottage / This Instagrammer has the cutest home and I love her style of decorating.  Unfortunately I’m not the only one decorating the house or everything I bought would be white like hers!
Plants / I have plants now that I have a house! I have had them on my desk at work for a few years now, but I moved them so I can enjoy them at home and transplant some into bigger pots. We also got a couple hanging baskets from the clearance section at Home Depot that I’m trying to revive. Below is a picture of one of my favorite plants- a fuschia hanging basket.  It should bloom in late summer/ early fall.  Ignore the dead yard!
CBD / Speaking of plants, I was able to get off my Wellbutrin that I’ve been taking for like six years by using CBD. I’m not saying you should quit any medication, but it’s working for me. I never thought I would be able to get off of that medication and talking about the fact that I even take it is something I rarely do.  Wellbutrin/ Bupropion worked for me for a long time, but it makes the emotions kind of dampened.  It’s great for depression in the sense that the lows you feel aren’t as intense, but it makes the happy times less intense too.  I was over just going through the motions of life and want to actually deal with my feelings.  I use tincture drops, a pen, and I just got gummy bears. I like to use .50 ml of the drops right when I wake up, and right when I get home from work. CBD is from hemp, and doesn’t make you high just FYI.  I’ve given family members a bottle to try and I’m very happy that I’ve found it.
After talking about CBD in my last favorites post, I had a company reach out to send me their products to try! If only makeup companies would do that more haha. I am super grateful though, and they actually sent me some CBD lotions to try too- CBD Pain Cream and CBD Hand and Body Lotion. When looking into CBD products, I always make sure to ask the company’s customer service where they source hemp from.  The site I linked has hemp sourced from Colorado, which made me confident enough to give their products a try.
Entertainment
Movies / I’ve seen some great movies lately that I wanted to recommend: Sleeping With Other People, Blockers, and Life of the Party.  I love a good rom com or comedy.
Jack Harlow Dark Knight / I listen to this song on repeat whenever I put on music! Not sure how to describe the music really, but it’s upbeat and just GOOD.
I’m Upset by Drake / The Degrassi cast reunion video couldn’t have made happier or more nostalgic.  I used to watch WAY too many Degrassi marathons when I was young and I loved that they got the whole cast together.
Post Malone /  I have a theory that every song would be better if it was sung by Post Malone.  Would love to see him in concert!
Theo Von’s Podcast / This has been the only podcast I want to put on lately.  Sometimes when I’m in a bummed out mood, this makes me instantly happy and I’m almost cry laughing when I’m listening.
Journaling / Writing in my journal almost every day has been so great for my mood.  I like to go out to my backyard after work and just empty my mind basically.  Back in highschool I wrote almost every single day, and the diaries are super cringey/ hilarious to read.  I would love to be able to have more documentation to look back on, so I’ve been trying to write every day again.  Also, before I die in my old age I need to burn them because the thought of ANYONE ELSE reading them is my personal nightmare.
Facebook Marketplace / We found some awesome furniture on Facebook Marketplace.  I had never heard about it before, but was very pleasantly surprised at the selection and prices on there.
TV / My favorite shows at the moment are Bachelorette and Big Brother.  NO SPOILERS PLEASE! I’m team Jason to be the next Bachelor as long as he updates his hair to be a bit less slicked back. Is that an east coast look?
  Style
Nike Pegasus / It was time for a new pair of workout shoes, and I wanted something that were actually made for training rather than my typical habit of buying lifestyle / fashion sneakers. The Nike Pegasus were just the right mix- cute but designed to workout in rather than just for an outfit.  My only issue with them is a very particular one- light shoes make me worry that my self tan will get all over them… watch out for that if you deal with the same thing.
nike pegasus 2018
Aerie Bralette / Bras are annoying so instead I wear soft bralettes 24/7. American Eagle was having a great sale and I had a birthday coupon so I went a little over the top with an order. Their lace padded bralette was one of my many favorites from the order I placed and I’ve worn it a ton in the short time I’ve had it.  It has the kind of straps that you actually want to show off. I kind of want every color! Their workout leggings are so great too. I got these ones that feel like I’m wearing nothing and don’t slip down.
Graphic Tee / I wanted to talk about my cute graphic top find. I like the subtle mesh cut out, the logo, and the cream shade. I think band tees are so cute but I don’t know or like any old bands (lol) so this was perfect.  It comes in regular and plus size as an added bonus.
Etsy Jewelry / Are toe rings trashy? I’m not 100% sure but I love the one that I got on Etsy a few months ago. It makes my feet feel prettier and has stayed shiny without tarnishing.  The shipping was slow but the seller was quick to respond when I had a question. I also bought another ring from Full Moon Jewelry in a larger size to add to my simple silver band set that I like to wear.
Sandals / I’ve wanted the Sam Edelman version of these sandals for a few seasons, and noticed them on Payless for a fraction of the price. I wear them to work literally everyday and they are beyond comfortable and great quality.  Every time I see them online they seem to be less and less expensive. I highly recommend them and they’re $10 currently!
Dress / I needed a good dress to that fit a fiesta theme for a bridal shower last month.  This dress from Amazon worked out perfectly.  You never know what you will get when you place a clothing order on Amazon, but this had thick, stretchy fabric that was comfortable and breathable.
Thank you for reading! I’d love to hear about your non-beauty favorites.  My July monthly beauty favorites will be coming next week.

While I love to do maroon smokey eyes and gold cut creases for fun, it’s not really my go to realistic makeup.  For daytime when I want to look put together, I do makeup much more simply. The other day I was in the mood to put on makeup before running errands, and thought I’d share what I used. It was about 75 out and sunny, so I had to add a couple mattifying steps in to make sure everything stayed put on my oily skin.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
Face | Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot, Nars Natural Radiant foundation, Tarte Shape Tape concealer, Maybelline Fit Me loose powder, Makeup Revolution Lace Baking Powder, Lancome Absolue Golden powder, Urban Decay Beached bronzer, Benefit Dallas blush, Smashbox Pearl palette highlight, Makeup Forever Mist + Fix
Eyes | Smashbox eye primer, Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye palette, Loreal Voluminous primer, Marc Jacobs mascara
Brow | ABH chocolate dipbrow pomade, Nyx Control Freak Brow Gel
Lip | Mac Stripdown, Tarte Beach Babe lipstick
To be completely honest I put on this makeup for errands because I have been feeling a little down and getting ready gives me just a little bit of boost to feel my best.  The makeup I wore is what I’ve been reaching for very frequently lately, so I thought I’d go a little more into depth about some of the products.
The Nars Natural Radiant foundation has been my go to for the past few months now. The coverage is just right and while I sometimes like to mix foundations, this one is perfect all on it’s own to give me medium coverage and a natural satin matte finish without looking cakey.
I tried to make my brows look more arched on this day, which looked a little weird when I looked in the mirror.  I have such a straight/ almost droopy brow when my face is relaxed. I even asked a professional about a botox brow lift and she said it may be pointless based on my features being so straight. Bummer! Oh well, money by skipping that procedure I guess.
Currently I’m into making my highlight as bright as it can be while still being blended. I like to start with a creamier brow product like Colourpop Super Shock Cheek highlighters, blend that out with my fingers and a sponge, and then go in with a powder highlight.
Kat Von D’s Shade + Light Eye Palette is my go to for days when I just want a wash of matte color on my eye.  I’m not one to usually take a stand on anything or “cancelling” brands, but her stance on promoting anti- vaxxing really bothers me.  I don’t do the whole voting with my dollar thing by not supporting people because I’m not passionate/ serious enough to get on a soapbox about much, but I honestly will have a hard time buying her products from now on unless I can get myself to ignore all that and just focus on the makeup products. TBD! I’m pro- vaccinations over here though.
As for the lip combination I’m wearing here, I have to just say how much I like it.  I have two of these Tarte Color Splash lipsticks and they have such a nice formula. Mac Stripdown gets a LOT of use in my collection and will be one of the few products I actually get around to using up.
  Thanks for reading!

It takes me about 2.5 years to accumulate enough containers to do Back to Mac. I finally had six empties to bring in in exchange for a lipstick.  My empties were:
Oil Control Lotion / A nice primer but nothing too life changing.
Two empty eyeshadows / depotted them for a Z-Palette immediately after I bought them.
Color Correcting CC compact in Illuminate / This purple powder was discontinued.  I never ended up using this because it made me look weirdly ashy and I don’t know what I was thinking when I bought it.
Prep + Prime highlighter pen / I absolutely love this product, but my Maybelline Age Rewind Brightener concealer is a good enough dupe.
Annoyingly I can’t remember the last thing because I didn’t think come up with the idea to write a blog post until after I returned them… an empty Myth lipstick maybe?
Now that I’m thinking about it I could probably gather a couple lipsticks that I NEVER wear- that old Lady Gaga for one, glossier finishes, an orange gloss from the Simpson’s collection, etc. which makes me excited to get another little bag of trash together to bring in. If you aren’t aware, you can depot products then bring in the leftover packaging from powder products like blushes and eyeshadows.
If you haven’t used the Back to Mac system before, you hand in your six empty containers and pick a lipstick.  I think they used to do mascara as an option too, but at the counter near me it wasn’t. I took the easy route and went with a nude Bronx.  This shade is a greyish light nude in the retro matte formula. It kind of looks different in every lighting that I’ve been in, but it’s almost like if Blankety had a more matte, more brownish grey sister.  Or if you mixed Whirl and Fleshpot, you would get something like Bronx.
Temptalia.com comparison
There’s something about a pale greyish nude that reminds me of my Burt’s Bees Lifeguard’s Choice days, but in a much better way. Did anyone else wear that? It was my prom lip color lol.  Mac lipsticks are such a nostalgic product for me. They are a must have for just about every makeup collector, and I still reach for them quite often.
Shopping in person rather than online occurs less and less frequently for me. When I’m in the store the employees always ask me if I want to try certain shades on, but I’m usually not wearing any makeup.  Putting a brown lipstick on my bare face just isn’t helpful to sell me on something.  I did enjoy swatching and checking out some new products. The employees working at Mac always look so fabulous and have that “Mac look” with a full face of makeup that I really like. As for the brand itself, I love the classic clean look of all their packaging.  Going into the store and browsing made me leave with a couple new items on my wishlist:
Hyper Real Glow palette in Get it Glowing / This gold super shine palette is so pretty!
Next to Nothing Powder in Dark Deep / The girl at the counter said she loves this to bronze with for her oily skin instead of the Mineralize Skinfinish Natural that I usually use (Give Me Sun formula) because I was looking at the Dark Deep from that line. The Next to Nothing formula was a more matte finish that was lightweight but just the right amount of pigmented. When I finish up my Urban Decay Beached bronzer I’ll be buying this next.
Extra Dimension Eyeshadow in Stolen Moment and Sweet Heat / These are stunning ultra metallics and I was pretty much mesmerized by them when I was looking at the eyeshadow stand.
Studio Fix Foundation Powder Plus foundation / I want this for setting my makeup and controlling oil. I honestly have no clue what color I’d be in it though.  I never have makeup on when I go in there like I said and my fake tan is always at weird levels so having them match me isn’t much help.
Naturally Flawless Blush / This shade has been hanging out in my online cart for ages. How gorgeous is this!?  Honestly I don’t think it’s possible to ever get through my massive blush collection though.
At the moment I’m extra aware that I have plenty of makeup already so I didn’t buy anything new that day.  I’m so loyal to using my Ebates too, that shopping online just makes more sense.  I’d rather get 3% back by shopping through that, or buying Mac on Ulta and getting 2.5% cash back plus Ulta points.  There’s a way to do Ebates on in store purchases, but I haven’t gotten that part set up yet. Not trying to turn this into an Ebates ad lol, they have no idea who I am.  I’ve been using their website for years now though and always get mad at myself for forgetting to use them when I shop.
I will do a makeup post wearing Bronx as soon as I get a chance. Life has been a little hectic recently and I think it’s been a month since I’ve done a makeup instagram post even, let alone blog look. Doing my best to get back to it though.  Thank you for sticking around.

This post is way later than I’d like but check out my favorites from last month:
Beauty
Essie Coral Coast / I bought this polish on a whim at Target one day.  It is the most beautiful pastel peach shimmer color and totally unique to my collection.
Australian Gold Botanicals Tinted SPF / I’ve raved about this on my Insta stories a little bit already. This will be a forever repurchase for me!  This has a satin matte finish and provides just enough coverage to even out my skin tone when I want a step up from just using sunscreen. This is SPF 50 and feels super lightweight on my skin.  Usually my oily skin turns these kinds of products into a nasty film within about an hour but this one stays put perfectly.
Smashbox Punked Covershot palette/ I wanted to put this in May favorites but I thought I’d get more uses out of it to truly form an opinion.  I have used this quite a few times already, and majorly put it to work during a wedding that I did last weekend. The pigmentation on these are perfect and they blend out so well. I like to use the shimmers with a wet brush.
Matte Eyelids / When I’m not doing an eyeshadow look, I’ve come to like the look of laying down an eye primer or concealer, then topping that with a matte powder in a medium shade (I use Maybelline Fit Me pressed powder) all the way from my lashes to the brow bone. It’s hard to explain but it’s super simple and brightens up my face by hiding eyelid discoloration.
Clinique Superbalanced Silk foundation / I mention this foundation quite often, and find it so underrated.  It has the best amount of coverage and stays in place.  I mix the shades silk canvas & silk bamboo.  It’s rumored to be a dupe for Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation but I haven’t tried that so I can’t confirm that.
Elf brow wax / My brows are kind of out of control lately.  This little $2 wax stick keeps all the hairs in place and makes me feel like I look a little less wacky. I highly recommend it!
  Non- Beauty
Columbia Top / As an Oregonian I am lucky enough to live by the Columbia employee store and obtain passes for discounted shopping every once in awhile.  The Sorel shoe section always pulls me in but this time I was able to hold back and just ended up leaving the store with this top.  It is unique because it is a lightweight athletic fabric but totally works for looking a little more dressed up than my typical tees. I love the slit detail for tieing a little side knot.
Etsy Home Portrait / My boyfriend and I bought a house in June!  It was a stressful but rewarding process. Along the way our realtor was using prints from this Etsy shop, and we fell in love with the art.  On the day that we got keys, she presented us with one of our own. These would be an awesome gift for anyone’s home.
Forever 21 Jewelry / While we were going through the process of buying a home, I held off shopping as much as possible.  I have a few events coming up this summer for friends’ weddings, and I’m saving money by not buying new dresses for every event.  To make my older outfits feel more fresh, I made an order on F21 to get some new jewelry pieces. They have so many cute earrings and necklaces for ultra affordable prices.
Disposable Camera / A couple months ago I found a disposable camera at my parents house that had never been developed.  I finally got around to picking up the photos and they were a delight. I’m guessing they were taken sometime around 2001-2003 at Disneyland.  The clothes we were wearing were so 90s and I was definitely in an awkward stage.  See my insta story here: disposable camera shots
Theo Von podcast / If you haven’t already watched it, Theo Von’s stand up comedy special on Netflix is amazing.   I recently started listening to his podcast “This Past Weekend”. Every episode has me cracking up in my car and is seriously hilarious.  He is the best storyteller and has a way of describing things that is unlike anyone else.  One day I would love to go to one of his live shows.
Minimal Sandals / I get super picky when it comes to sandals. I want them to have enough unique detail, be comfortable, but also to go with every outfit. Too much to ask probably?  This pair is the perfect option in my opinion and prompted me to throw out about three other old pairs of sandals that I was holding on to.  You can wear the elastic strap across the top of your foot like a slide, or around the heel. They are easy to walk in either way.
Thank you so much for stopping by my page!

Skin From Within
I moved and have so much unpacking to do.  I was worried my skin would take a turn for the worse while  my skincare products are hidden away in different boxes, I’m on a weird schedule, and a dealing lot of stress from the moving process,
So far it hasn’t changed or taken a turn for the worse other than a couple hormonal jawline bumps that I always get.  For me, a big part of skincare is more…

Hi! This is just an announcement post to say that I uploaded a makeup tutorial.  It was kind of a “practice” video. I have this urge to film makeup tutorials, but I keep making excuses- there’s no room in my apartment, my lighting sucks, editing is a struggle, my arms look big, I don’t have time, I act awkward on camera, somehow it looks like I have a lazy eye when I’m talking to the camera, etc.  This one has all of those aspects, but I still went ahead and did it.
The makeup has all kinds of flaws and didn’t turn out exactly how I wanted.  I would describe this makeup as a get ready with me while I slap on and go look. If I was going out somewhere, I would have cleaned up my contour with translucent powder, carved out my brows, and more finishing touches. In reality though, I put this on and took it off to just hang out in my apartment.  Please excuse those undesirable little things.
Video here.
About the makeup
I used the Tartelette in Bloom palette because it’s been too long since I picked it up to use on my self and the champagne gold shade was calling my name. For this look I tried out the Voila style lashes by Esqido.  They contacted me to send them a sample of the pair of my choosing and their lash glue.  I was very excited to receive an email from them with the offer because I’ve seen youtubers talk about these lashes for years.  They were very lightweight and popped right on when I used them.  The lash glue comes in a lipgloss style packaging with a brush applicator. The packaging is the prettiest lash glue I’ve ever tried, and it seemed to do the job. These are lashes that screamed “bridal” to me.

When I started wearing makeup I was all about black, silver, and grey eyeshadow. I had a taupey grey single from Victoria’s Secret that I was all about and wore it every single day.  I used their line so much in high school and just thinking about it brings back so many memories. The warm eyeshadow trend has been so prevalent for the past few years that finding cool tone or even neutral palettes without orange much more rare. When I saw the Cover Shot Punked palette by Smashbox, I was surprised that more people weren’t talking about it.
As soon as I saw in in person I had to buy it.  Not many palette releases have stood out to me for having a unique concept for a few months besides this one.  It has mattes and shimmers in grey, a cool tone mauve, purple, taupe, silver, plum, and black. The rocker theme is pretty cute as well and the colors actually fit the topic.  From Ulta’s website, here are the shade descriptions:
Headliner (light pink w/ violet tint & silver pearl)
Punked (deep gray w/ purple tint)
Anarkissed (light pink)
Soft Punk (cool mauve)
Studded (cool gray/brown w/ silver pearl)
Destroyer (gray/brown)
Riot Girl (purple w/ purple & silver pearl)
Combat Boots (black)
I’ve posted a couple pictures of the palette and have gotten some questions about whether it is muddy.  This is a common concern about cool toned colors. In my opinion, they can get muddy if you use too many at once like any colors. I like to stick to one light shade, one medium tone, and one dark to keep things from getting messy or muddy. For example, if you grab two mediums and build them on top of eachother, you may run the risk of losing the vibrance of both colors. Using only one in an particular area of the eye with different pressures has given me a better result.
I’ve reached for this palette a lot and am really enjoying having some cool tones all in one place. I have some cooler eyeshadow singles strewn about different Z Palettes so this makes creating a cool toned look much easier. I have a wedding coming up where the bride requested a cool toned matte look so I can’t wait to create this for her. During her trial I used the Tartelette in Bloom, which will definitely be what I reach for to build up a transition shade.
It’s hard to even pick my favorite shades out of this palette because I really like them all.  The light matte color Anarkissed is such a good transition color to sweep in the crease and build off of.  Punked is the color that completely sold me on the palette.  They all work well together to create the perfect taupe or grey looks.
I feel like I shouldn’t go on and on about how much I like these so I’ll throw in some negatives to balance things out. The formula is a tad dry if I had to be picky. These aren’t as creamy as Makeup Geek or Kat Von D’s Shade + Light Eye Palette.  The Smashbox Cover Shot formula reminds me more of the Juvia’s Place or Tartelette in Bloom palette formula.

Faking red hair for the most of my life has taught me about how to maintain the color for as long as possible.   I have a lot of hair so dyeing it is too much of an arm workout to do all that often!  I gotta make it last as long as possible.  These are all the maintenance products and tips for keeping my red from fading.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
Washing
Cold water / Yeah it SUCKS to shower in cold water.  I just deal with it and stick my head under the stream to shampoo before turning the temperature up for the rest of my body.  At the end of my shower I blast the color water again to rinse out conditioner.
Stop doing it / Washing your hair 1- 2 times per week MAX is key.   While not washing your hair seems like it makes you low maintenance, working around certain washing days requires a lot of planning. I save a lot of money on shampoo and conditioner with this practice though! Dry shampoo (this one is my favorite) and low ponytails on bad hair days are my best friend.   I don’t care how thin or thick your hair is or how often you workout, you can train your hair to only be washed once per week.  It won’t look perfect everyday of the week and I have a lot of messy bun days. Truly the only person harshly judging you on how your hair looks is yourself.  Just let it be.
  Products
Goldwell Elumen / is the longest lasting red dye I’ve found.
Sulfate- free shampoo / Suds strip the color while sulfate free shampoos don’t disturb it as much.  I like this one.
Color depositing conditioner / I like EVO Fabuloso Mahogany. I use it as a hair mask.  Glossing masks are great too.
Hair masks / Healthy, hydrated hair holds color better. I like this one to protect my hair.  Combing it through my ends with a wide tooth comb is the best way to fully saturate it throughout my head.
  Staining Tips
Sink / With a fresh dye job I’ll wash my hair in the kitchen sink because it’s easier with stainless steel than staining my white shower. Bending over the sink makes using ice cold water easier too!
Dark fabrics / Say goodbye to white towels and pillow cases.  When my hair is wet, it’s basically a pink inked stamp to anything I lean on.  I love to wear a turbie twist around while it air dries to avoid staining my clothes or couch too.  I only buy dark towels like navy or maroon.
Red will fade over time no matter what, but these tips will prolong the pigment.  Honestly right now since it’s summertime my hair is a little more faded than I’d like.  Being in the sun lightens red and I’m too hot and sweaty to only wash my hair once a week. When fall comes back around I’ll get back to my upkeep!  How I see it, letting it lighten up right now will make the red I eventually dye it be much brighter rather than adding a coat of red to super darkened hair. See the products I use to get my color here.

Birthday Wishlist | 2018
Can’t believe I’m going to already be 27 in less than a month on July 2nd.  Even though I would never expect someone in my life to get me a gift, I love the tradition of making a list. This is the list of what I’ve been adding into a note on my phone for the past few weeks or so.  Everyday that goes by has me adding more lines so I’m just going to cut it off here before this becomes like six…

Affordable Alternatives to Drunk Elephant Skincare
Affordable Alternatives to Drunk Elephant Skincare
Whenever I hear about a hot new skincare product, I look at the active ingredients and try to find an affordable version.  Drunk Elephant has been a super popular brand for a couple of years now.  So far nothing that they have released has been unique enough that I haven’t been able to find a comparable item.  In my opinion, they aren’t worth the money.  So many people that are struggling with…

May felt like the longest month of my life! I think it is because I went on a vacation the first week, which kind of sucked the life out of me for the rest of the month. I’m definitely someone who prefers a relaxing lay by the pool type of trip rather than an activity filled one. During that trip and the rest of May I had quite a few favorite products that I want to talk about.
BEAUTY
Organic Bronze Bar / There are only locations of this spray tan place in Oregon, Washington, and North Carolina right now.  If you live near one, check them out because it is by far the best spray tan experience I’ve had yet. This lasted for almost a week, made me the darkest that I’ve managed to get, and made my skin feel super soft the next day. It was my first time trying a place where you actually strip down to get sprayed by hand and somehow they managed to not make it uncomfortable whatsoever.  I included a photo of how dark I was compared to the flooring in my apartment and you can really tell how tan I was.
BEFORE WASHING
AFTER
Brush & Sponge Cleanser / I cannot remember if I have mentioned the soap that I use to clean my brushes.  Dr. Bronner’s comes at a great price and with fresh scents.  Most importantly though, it makes my brushes squeaky clean super quickly.
Highlights / I got highlights!  I wanted to break up my chunk of dark auburn hair that I’ve been dyeing myself for a few years now.  I absolutely love the result and I’m worried that I’m going to be motivated to keep going back for more and more highlights.  If you’re in Portland, I highly recommend Kiki at Mod Salon.
Natasha Denona 10M Aluminum / I kept using this while I was in Vegas to add a super bright shimmer to my lids. It is just the right level of icy brightness without looking tacky.
Palmers Cocoa Butter Oil / This brand has been around forever and I finally tried out their dry oil.  This stuff makes my skin feel hydrated without being sticky at all. I douse myself in it almost every night before bed.
Mac Sun Power / This bronzer has been my go to blush lately! It has just the right amount of red in it and I’m almost hitting pan.
Kylie Vacay Nudes / I always reach for this set when I’m going out. The nudes last a long time and wear comfortably. She recently re-released a few of them as permanent shades.
Wet n’ Wild Matte Primer / I’ve been wanting to try this cheap primer and wish I had gotten into it earlier. I picked it up on a random retail therapy Walgreens stop.  I find this formula really unique. It’s like a thick lotion that feels matte but not powdery and sits super well under makeup.
Mini Wet Brush / This has been so nifty! I grabbed one at Target to keep in my purse.  It helps me look a little more presentable at work when I can brush out my messy hair.
Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Go Garnet / This ultra dark polish stayed on until I decided I was in the mood for a new color. I was so impressed with it and it applied an ultra dark maroon opaque in only two coats.
Makeup Forever Brow Liner / It’s been awhile since I used this because I was more into my ABH dipbrow and L’oreal Brow Stylist plumper. I forgot how much I loved this product.  It lets you do either a very defined or feathery brow easily depending on what you’re going for.
Urban Decay De-Slick Primer / I’ll admit that it took me awhile to get the hang of this.  I only apply this around my nose, cheeks, and forehead where I get extra oily.  I have to avoid the jawline area or it doesn’t sit well under foundation. This keeps me matte for as long as I want, which is a godsend. I apply it, let it dry, then set with a translucent powder before applying foundation on top.
  OTHER
Dove Coconut Aerosol / Not sure if a deodorant should be in the beauty or other category but I’ve decided that this scent is the best! The aerosol version is the best.
Overall shorts / I bought a pair of overalls when H&M was having a sale and finally got the courage to wear them.  These are so comfy and cute in my opinion. I was nervous to wear something that made me feel four years old again, but just thought screw it. They make me so happy and not yanking up my shorts all day is the best part.  I sized up for a good fit.
Watermelon / Having fresh cold watermelon cut up in the fridge in pre portioned sizes is the best snack ever.  I love having it for breakfast or to satisfy my sweet tooth after dinner.
Natural Calm / Natural Calm has been a godsend for me.  I’ve been having a really hard time sleeping lately and this DEFINITELY helps. I take it right before I’m about to get into bed.  The cool thing about it though, is that you can also take it during the day and it won’t put you to sleep. It actually gives a good boost of energy when you take it and stay up. I even bought a bottle for my desk because I love it so much.
In June if all goes as planned I will be moving so I’m excited to have a new makeup and blogging set up! Excited to talk more about that as it happens.  Thank you for reading! Here’s a bonus pic of Prince helping me take makeup pics if you’ve made it this far.

Affordable Dupes to the Best Expensive Makeup
Affordable Dupes to the Best Expensive Makeup
I side eye a lot of luxury makeup and skincare products out there. There is a huge markup around a lot of things based on marketing, packaging, and brand names. This list is what I always immediately think of as alternatives when someone mentions those overpriced products.  When I hear people raving about the expensive product, these are the ones that I can’t help but shoutout.
