Discord's a fun character to sculpt bc he's purposely asymmetrical, so I don't have to worry about making his features even. One of his eyes is supposed to be a little smaller than the other. One of his ears is supposed to be a little larger. Really takes the pressure off.

And we have horns, ears, and eyebrows. Ears and horns are currently removable since I'll have to cast them separately. I have a bit more to do before I'll be doing any mold making, but it's coming along well.

I always forget how much I enjoy sculpting until I'm actively doing it.
He looks better head-on in person, but his face it so long it's hard to photograph.
Gonna give this a first bake, then call it a night. Other additions, adjustments, and smoothing can be done after baking.
Alright let's see if I can sculpt this bastard. Ears and antlers are gonna have to be separate for casting reasons. I drew a mane in the photo, but I might try to use fur for it instead of sculpting.

After a lot of thought and testing, I'm just gonna sculpt the whole head from scratch and try to mold and cast it in resin like I did when I made Mothra.
It'd look better and I could made it hollow so it's less heavy.
Despite my excitement for the project, I actually haven't done a lot of work on Discord yet just because there's a lot of things I need to figure out on paper first before I get to the fun stuff.
Like aesthetic wise, aside form the head, the changes needed aren't that complicated. If I were unconcerned about articulation this would actually have been a pretty easy custom.
Unfortunately, I want probably too much from this figure and will make everything hard for myself lol.

if they were going to do a bathing suit, why not have it be Kay's iconic white suit? and then maybe the fancy bits are seaweed/other ocean plants/something she could've stolen off a human ship
I wish this doll were cheaper, I'd buy her to customize bc I really like Creature from the Black Lagoon, but I can't justify buying skullector dolls unless I like them as is. They're just too expensive.

Got this neat custom pony, small Grumpy bear, and enamel pin.
Signature on the custom says it was made in '08.
