Had a thought about the Reluctant War and made myself a bit sad and I have no idea if it'll make it into the story proper so I'm going to inflict it upon all you guys:
Dick Grayson on the streets of Gotham trying to do everything he can to help as everyone join the ghosts in fighting the GIW, suddenly has a version of the GAV barreling down towards him and for some reason he can't get out of the way in time.
He thinks he's about to join the army of the dead in a whole new way, when the tank fo a vehicle is suddenly sent flying as something massive charged it from the side. He hears a familiar bellowing and then realizes that it's Zitka, a ghost after passing away peacefully a few years before.
She wasn't apart of the army of the ghosts, wasn't brought in to fight. She's just been following her tiny human child around all these years and now that there's enough ecto in the air to do so, she's going to protect him with all her might.
Dick is emotional, so thankful to have his old friend back, but the city is still in a state of chaos. He gets onto Zitka's back and they get to work, running - flying - around helping to grab the injured and whisk them away to safety or take out other GAVs and the like.
It's absurd and freeing and wonderful all at once to be literally flying through the skies of Gotham on the ghost of his elephant best friend, and if Dick wasn't already on the side of King Phantom he is *now* and -
He gets shot off Zitka's back.
A GIW agent was aiming for the Ghost elephant but somehow *missed* and hit Dick instead. Not enough to injure him too badly, but enough to send him flying off Zitka's back and plummeting to the ground. His grapple is broken, and Zitka is diving for him but she's being shot at and she's not going to make it in time and -
A hand, reaching out to him in midair, familiar with its callouses and strong grip as he reaches out and grasps it, body suddenly swinging in a different direction and muscles acting on memory as he falls into the old, achingly familiar routine of his childhood. His mother, ethereal and bright as she smiles down at him, hanging upside down from a bar suspended from nothing but open sky as they swing and he is let go, flipping on instinct and caught by the steady strong hands of his father.
The Flying Graysons reunited in the skies above Gotham, Dick's ghostly parents determined to ensure their little bird never falls the way they did.

It is actually funny how with both kaladin and dalinar their brothers deaths are such major parts of their respective arcs that they would likely be different people if not for it. Meanwhile shallan just kinda goes “huh my brother is dead? Whoops turns out it was my close friend Kaladin that killed him” and then moves on like nothing

Oops.
While learning to control his powers under the guidance of Clockwork, Danny accidentally curses his own bloodline with the Curse of Sentient Food several centuries in the past. Originally, a witch was supposed to curse his family. Oops. Well, the Fentons were always adapting, and technically, either way, he'd end up battling dino nuggets at three am in his underwear, no matter who the curse came from. So he shrugged and continued on.
Unfortunately, this also means that out of nowhere, the timeline shifted, and some of his very distant relatives are now battling their food into submission at every meal because Danny is ultimately way more powerful than some mortal witch from the 1600s. His version of the curse reached literally everyone he could ever be related to for the last few centuries. Even if they were adopted into the family!
So, returning to the present time after training, Danny is a little startled to see some news clips of people's dinners coming to life and beginning revolutions. Wow, John Fentonightingale really got around, didn't he? He felt a little uncomfortable that now all these random people had to deal with their share of Fenton luck, but from some of the interviews, everyone seemed to be handling it pretty well!
Especially his so-distant-they're-on-another-tree cousins, the Kents, who contacted his family directly, asking how best to prepare a zombie turkey. Their son was coming for Thanksgiving with his new wife and some coworkers, and they just refused to make the guests fight for their lives on a holiday!
They invited the Fentons to join them, of course.

pomme: baghera, antoine, aypierre, kameto, etoiles, bad, and max (from aypierre) for parents; dapper as sibling; maxpierre twin babies for siblings. she has ten family members in total.
richas: forever, pac, mike, cellbit, felps, roier, and quackity for parents; foolish and vegetta as grandmas; and leo as an aunt. if we count bobby as richas' deceased step-brother, then richarlyson has eleven family members in total.
they both have seven parents in total.

It's polite in my country call those older then you by uncle or Aunti, but some don't wanna be called anything other then thier names. Always ask first<)

Spoiler for Hades 2, specifically for Odysseus interactions
I’m sooooo happy that Hades tackle OdyPen breaking up more on par with my imagination. They very clearly show Odysseus love Penelope and his family, his main motivation to fight through the war and his journey is being with his family again.
The way Penelope is mentioned pretty regularly and it’s hinted that she’s deep below seems to me we might mend them back together like PatroAchi or OrpheEury in the previous game.
I’m still not happy about broken up OdyPen but this is the most in character way I can see it happened. And Odysseus is also clearly never gotten over his divorce (lmao). So excited for the early access and the game coming out ><

So I… came up with another au…..
This one will be called Unwanted, Dead or Alive! In the Fast Forward season, something or someone takes Leo’s entire family - his brothers are gone, Cody, Splinter, Starly, Serling, all gone, and he ends up being the main suspect because the peacekeepers are absolutely incapable of doing their jobs properly. Having nowhere else to go, Leo turns to the only person who just may trust him enough to provide him with sanctuary - the Dark Turtles.
Eventually, Bishop finds out, and while he can’t do much directly because of his position, he at least can provide Leo with some extra resources while Leonardo searches for his brothers. In the meantime, he accidentally makes four more siblings. They sometimes follow him out on patrols and searches, Red loves having a sparring buddy that isn’t an ass to him, Purple gets to study and compare Leo’s DNA in exchange for medical help, Orange gets a mildly tolerant authority figure, and Blue gets to learn something more about himself and how to better lead a team. There’s so much to learn when they’re all only a few months old!

Alfred Pennyworth Angst AU
Every single Wayne kid has made the joke that Alfred isn't human. Despite raising Bruce and all of his kids, the man hasn't aged a single day. He's as weathered as he's always looked with not a single wrinkle more. He completes endless tasks (cooks, cleans, chauffer, medical aid, comm assistance, coordinates for events, does laundry, gardening, and more) with perfection. He doesn't tire, besides a dry comment about aching bones, and he has never failed to have the house in order.
Batman can do the impossible and unthinkable, but Alfred is subtle. His unnatural abilities are only apparent when one takes the time to actually think about all the responsibilities he has.
If asked directly, he would deny his otherworldly tendencies with a sarcastic remark. Yet, he would humor questions about his past. The retired serviceman and retired actor would sometimes indicate just how he became so proficient at preparing a meal or tailoring. It's not obvious, but he did not acquire his skills over only a single lifetime.
This is why, when the Waynes die off one by one, Alfred is still there. He himself grieves, but he does his due diligence to those alive and passed. He cleans, he cooks, and he offers his presence to his loved ones.
When the very last Wayne dies, Alfred is still found within the Manor walls. His job is easier now with only himself to wash and feed, but it hurts more. Pain, unlike any he's felt before, constantly ravages his body and mind. He's in agony, but none who would see the old man could be able to tell. Those who knew better, who could see the slight squint of his eyes as the internal screaming it is, are long lost. To those around, the butler maintains his unflappable appearance. He merely toils away at the stubborn rose bushes or the unruly carpet. He keeps his charges' house in top shape despite knowing they will never come home again.

the fact that maria's disappearance has remained a cold case for decades... once ana & her friends died looking for her, they became cold cases too... ana & maria's mom alone after losing both of her daughters, not knowing (for the better, maybe) what cruelty took them from her.
hurts thinking how the victims go looking for maria, what they end up enduring, just to find her long gone (presumably) at black nancy's... the guilt ana would feel for bringing them there, knowing they're going to meet the same fate, that their families won't know what happened.
and of course, how could ana have known? who could have ever thought such horrors awaited them as they set up their camp site in the thicket? as they put up their tent, lit a fire and sat around together, sharing stories about maria and thinking they're close to finding her alive.
