One of my D&D groups has a player who mentioned he may run an "oops all warlocks" game for us - he mentioned it just the one time and it's all the others needed to get excited. My husband kept asking me what I'd play and I had NO plans - because, well, it'd only been mentioned ONCE. But he asked again and I was like okay fine, I'll design ONE OF EACH PACT
So I did

The rest of the Pacts are under the cut:

Tickles - Part 7
Raphael x Tav, RaphaelPOV, soft!raphael, gn!tav, fluff, hurt/comfort, body worship, conflicted!cambion
Part 1 | P 2 | P 3 & 4 | P 5 | P 6 | P 7 | | P 8
Tumblr media
Raphael sat at his desk in the boudoir. He had sent Korrilla to to keep an eye on the adventurers again. While he had an avid interest in keeping them alive before, his investment has now skyrocketed to new heights. The mere thought of losing his little mouse has become unbearable to him.
He wrinkled his nose. The fact that he had become so... attached to this mortal bothered him somewhat. It was a weakness. It was un-devil-like. It was pathetic. That was his fiend blood talking, and he knew it. His mortal side longed for Tav's affection. Their touch. Their understanding. He's had a long and difficult life. But never in all his years, has he felt as whole as he did last night, when his little mouse held him tight and told him he was perfect. He had craved this. And he feared it. And he hated it. The thought of killing the mouse crossed his mind. It would prevent him from more mistakes. From indulging in this weakness. But he could not bear the thought.
He sighed. No matter how much his father's blood rebelled against it, he would keep his mouse safe. And once the brain was defeated and he had the crown, he would keep them close and never let go again.
He threw a glance at the clock, almost midnight. His fingers drummed impatiently on the desk - just once. But that already was something that irked him. It was unlike him to be restless. When you live for thousands of years, you perceive time differently. But today he was eager to act, but he had to wait for the right moment and it made him antsy. A feeling he rarely experienced.
Finally, a knock on the door frame announced Korrilla. Raphael's insides were doing handsprings, but he kept his composure and projected a picture of calm superiority on the outside. Though as the dwarf approached, his nose wrinkled again, "What is that smell?"
"Your favorite misadventurers have been trudging threw the sewers all day." Korrilla grumbled slightly.
"Ah." That explained things. "I take it, they are back at the tavern now?"
The dwarf nodded, "Yes. When I left them, they were fighting over the rights to the bathtub."
The devil's nose flared in disgruntlement. This would mean he'd have to wait even longer for them to all get to sleep. He tried not to let his frustration show, "Did anything of note happen today?" "They seem to have found the entrance to the temple of Bhaal but couldn't get through the door." Korrilla reported. Raphael hummed in acknowledgement, "They'll figure it out, I'm sure. Good work." he waved the warlock off, and she nodded and left. No doubt to go burn her clothes. That sewer stench would never get out.
The devil's fingers drummed on the desk once more. How could a day feel so impossibly long?
Tumblr media
He waited several more hours - the finger drumming on the desk slowly increased in frequency as the night dragged out. In the early morning hours, Raphael finally stood up. Surely, the tadpoled mortals have had enough time now to get clean and fall asleep.
Still, to not end up in another embarrassing disaster, he decided to appear outside their room. And so he did. With a flash of fire and ash, he appeared right in front of the door to their room in the elfsong tavern. The place was quiet for the most part. He could hear some drunkards from below, but at this time of night most of the merry folks had already passed out. He cautiously put his ear to the door. Nothing. Good. Slowly, he pushed the door open and stepped inside. He scanned the room for the vampire spawn, but he wasn't there. Probably out feeding. Next he looked for the animals. He didn't see them at first, but a few steps further into the room, he spotted them: Curled up at the foot of the tiefling's bed. A quiet spell later he could be sure they wouldn't wake, and disrupt him.
Now for the reason he was here...
[mood music]
He turned to where he had been during his first visit, and there they were. His little mouse. He quietly moved over to them - and frowned. There was a bruise on Tav's face, that hadn't been there last time he saw them. Who dared to hurt you, mouse!? He was angry at whoever caused the damage, but he was also quite confident that the culprit was already dead. His favorite mortal probably cut their way through several Bhaal cultists today. The thought made him smile. He made a mental note to try and watch from the shadows sometime. He found the image of his mouse covered in the blood of their enemies incredibly arousing.
He took a deep breath and shook the thought off, though. This was not why he was here. He knelt down in front of Tav's bed and looked them over. They were lying belly-down, the uninjured side of their face squished against the pillow. It looked a bit funny, but also incredibly endearing to the fiend. He smiled at the picture and just drank it in for a while.
When he had memorized every detail of the sight, he began to act. He gently pulled the blanket down to their waist and snaked his fingers below the nightshirt. He leaned in, hoping the mortal would smell his perfume, and he whispered every so quietly into their ear, "O apple of my eye..." He meant to wake them as gently as he could, to avoid repeating that calamity from last time. His fingers gently stroked Tav's back. He enjoyed the feeling of their skin. Soft. Vulnerable. A few battle scars here and there, that told tales of victory and prowess. "Little mouse... I'm in your house." he whispered and smirked at his own rhyme. His fingers ran across their shoulders, one by one, tracing the shoulder blades. "You're so fast asleep, little mouse, you don't even wake at this..." He whispered against their ear, and his fingers traced back down their spine. Perhaps they are too exhausted. It didn't matter. He kept caressing their back, their sides. And he looked at their face. That beautiful - squished - face, looking so peaceful and without worry. Looking so kissable. He leaned in, "Little mouse, you're such a sight." His words were barely audible, and he followed them with a gentle kiss to Tav's cheek.
That finally caused them to stir. They inhaled deeply, and without even opening their eyes, a smile formed on their lips, "Raphael?" they mumbled into their pillow. He smirked to himself. They knew his smell. "Yes, little mouse. I was in the area and thought, I'll stop by..." he lied in a whisper, and stroked their back gently. Their smile widened, "Glad you did." they mumbled sleepily. He brought his face close to theirs and placed another kiss on their temple, "Just relax, sweetling." And they sighed happily. His hand moved up to run through Tav's hair. Another sigh. He could not help himself but to place another kiss on their cheekbone, and their smile grew even wider. They liked what he did. He felt proud and happy. He caused them to feel good, and it was his accomplishment.
His hand trailed down their back. Now that Tav was at least somewhat awake, he became more daring. He placed his hand at their waistband and waited - an unspoken request, like the ones before. He looked back into Tav's face, and their eyes were open now. Looking at him in the darkness, still smiling. He had his answer. His hand slid down into their pants, gently stroking over their butt cheeks, one by one. The mortal's eyes closed again. Enjoying the attention.
His heart swelled with pride. Never would he have thought that he'd feel so good, just from causing some mortal pleasant feelings. But he did. He felt elated to be the cause of their happiness. And after all, this wasn't just some mortal. This was his little mouse.
For a short moment, the feral fiend inside him wanted to tear off their clothes and ravage them on the spot. But he calmed the monster and pushed it away. This was not why he was here. His fingertips ghosted over the mouse's rear, and he heard them sigh. It made him feel so good. This was better than a short moment of sexual relief. This was... soft.
He began to like soft.
He looked back into Tav's face and they were still smiling. Likely drifting somewhere between waking and sleeping. He would be gone by the time they woke up in the morning. Perhaps they will think this was all a dream. He wasn't sure if he liked that idea, or if he wanted them to remember his visit. He pondered over it, while he continued to caress their butt cheeks, then their back again. Trailing down their right arm - the only one he could reach. His kissed their hand. Another sigh. He trailed kisses up their arm. That happy smile never left their face. Their beautiful face. He leaned in again to place a kiss on their bruised jaw. They hummed. Another on their cheek. The smile grew larger again. Another on their temple. On their nose. And after a moment's hesitation, on their lips. They kissed back lightly. Obviously more asleep than awake, but still reacting to his touch. He was filled with love. He kept going, gently stroking and kissing them, until the sun poked their first rays of light into the room.
He finally stood up to leave. But he hesitated. He wanted them to know, he decided. He wanted them to know, it wasn't just a dream. He used his powers to nick a single rose from a bouquet he had in the devil's den. It appeared between his fingers, and he left it on Tav's bedside table.
Then he bent down to place a parting kiss on Tav's cheek, and pulled their covers back up to their shoulders. He drank in the picture for a few more moments before he vanished. Leaving behind the smell of his perfume, ash and sulfur.
His heart sang with delight,
he had enjoyed this night.

Official photos of the upcoming LEGO Dungeons and Dragons Red Dragon’s Tale set (21348) are officially here! Stacking up to nearly 3,800 pieces, the upcoming set celebrates the RPG’s 50th anniversay with six all-new minifigures, a giant Cinderhowl red dragon, and tons of other fiends.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The set has officially been named LEGO Ideas 21348 Dungeons and Dragons Red Dragon’s Tale – a departure from the fan-submitted model, which was called Dragon’s Keep: Journey’s End by original builder Lucas Bolt (known as BoltBuilds). The differences between the model that’s actually hitting store shelves and the original creation aren’t all that noticeable, but there are some adjustments!
LEGO’s first Dungeons and Dragons kit celebrates 50 years of the role-playing game from Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro. It stacks up to 3,745 pieces and assembles a fantasy scene. There’s a medieval building on the left, which is integrated into the stone of a dilapidated castle. There’s an extra 700 bricks from the original version. That increase goes towards a more detailed model, as well as giving some more love to the side build.
We’ve covered the Dungeon, but what about the Dragon? The LEGO set includes a massive giant Cinderhowl red dragon. It can perch on the castle tower, or just fly around in your own little adventure.
Alongside the actual model, the new LEGO Dungeons and Dragons set includes a handful of minifigures, as well as creatures for them to do battle with. There are six adventurer minifigures, including an Orc Rogue, Gnome Fighter, Elf Wizard, Dwarf Cleric, a Bard, and more. You also get three LEGO skeletons, too. The kit also includes a Beholder, as well as the Displacer Beast. We also get a small glimpse of a brick-built Gelatinous cube and the Owlbear. It’s a really solid mix of figures and beats for them to do battle with.
Tumblr media
In true Dungeons and Dragons fashion, the LEGO set also includes a digital download for an adventure to recreate with the included figures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You’ll be able to buy the LEGO Dungeons and Dragons Red Dragon’s Tale set (21348) starting next month. It officially goes on sale to the public on April 3, but LEGO Insiders will be able to get this one early – as per usual. It’ll drop at midnight on April 1 for those with a free account. It debuts at $359.99. The LEGO storefront page is at this link.

Plus, a Collectible Minifigure Series on the way
Alongside the main LEGO Ideas set, the collaboration will be continuing over to a Collectible Minifigure Series based around Dungeons and Dragons. The lineup will debut later this fall as a second installment of the 50th anniversary action and will include 12 different characters from the role-playing game. That includes Tieflings, druids, bars, and even the Mindflayer. The LEGO Group has now confirmed that it will launch in September.
Here’s a full breakdown of the Dungeons and Dragons Collectible Minifigure Series. Each of the blind box LEGO figures will sell for $4.99, and includes a minifigure alongside a fittingly-themed accessory.
Tiefling Sorcerer with Red Baby Dragon
Golden Dragonborn Paladin with Shield
Tasha the With Queen with Cauldron
White Aarakocra Ranger with Dog
Mindflayer with Intellect Devourer
Dwarf Barbarian with Axe
Strahd von Zarovich with Sword
Githyanki Warlock with Knife
Halfling Druid with Bird
Halfling Bard with Lute
Lady of Pain with Cube
Szass Tam with Skull

Random D&D Character Generator on R
I have been doing a lot of work on R for my research and decided to give it a go and write the script for a random D&D character generator.
It is a very simplified version and there is definitely room for improvement and expansion, but I wanted to share it with everyone for those who want to tinker with it:
#Install Packages#
install.packages("randomNames") library("randomNames")
#Function to generate a random character sheet#
generate_random_character <- function() {
# Sample races, classes, and backgrounds# races <- c( "Dwarf", "Elf", "Halfling", "Human", "Dragonborn", "Gnome", "Half-Elf", "Half-Orc", "Tiefling", "Aasimar", "Firbolg", "Genasi", "Goliath", "Hobgoblin", "Kenku", "Kobold", "Lizardfolk", "Tabaxi", "Triton", "Bugbear", "Goblin", "Hobgoblin", "Orc", "Fairy", "Satyr", "Yuan-ti Pureblood", "Aarakocra", "Aasimar", "Changeling", "Kalashtar", "Shifter", "Warforged", "Centaur", "Loxodon", "Minotaur", "Simic Hybrid", "Vedalken", "Gith (Githyanki, Githzerai)" ) classes <- c( "Barbarian", "Bard", "Cleric", "Druid", "Fighter", "Monk", "Paladin", "Ranger", "Rogue", "Sorcerer", "Warlock", "Wizard", "Artificer", "Blood Hunter" ) subclass_Barbarian <- c( "Path of the Berserker", "Path of the Totem Warrior", "Path of the Ancestral Guardian", "Path of the Storm Herald", "Path of the Zealot" ) subclass_Bard <- c( "College of Lore", "College of Valor", "College of Glamour", "College of Swords", "College of Whispers", "College of Eloquence" ) subclass_Cleric <- c( "Knowledge Domain", "Life Domain", "Light Domain", "Nature Domain", "Tempest Domain", "Trickery Domain", "War Domain", "Forge Domain", "Grave Domain", "Order Domain", "Peace Domain", "Twilight Domain" ) subclass_Druid <- c( "Circle of the Land", "Circle of the Moon", "Circle of Dreams", "Circle of the Shepherd", "Circle of Twilight" ) subclass_Fighter <- c( "Champion", "Battle Master", "Eldritch Knight", "Arcane Archer", "Cavalier", "Samurai" ) subclass_Monk <- c( "Way of the Open Hand", "Way of Shadow", "Way of the Four Elements", "Way of the Drunken Master", "Way of the Kensei", "Way of the Sun Soul" ) subclass_Paladin <- c( "Oath of Devotion", "Oath of the Ancients", "Oath of Vengeance", "Oath of the Crown", "Oath of Conquest", "Oath of Redemption", "Oath of the Watchers" ) subclass_Ranger <- c( "Hunter", "Beast Master", "Gloom Stalker", "Horizon Walker", "Monster Slayer" ) subclass_Rogue <- c( "Thief", "Assassin", "Arcane Trickster", "Mastermind", "Swashbuckler", "Inquisitive", "Scout" ) subclass_Sorcerer <- c( "Draconic Bloodline", "Wild Magic", "Divine Soul", "Shadow Magic", "Storm Sorcery", "Aberrant Mind" ) subclass_Warlock <- c( "The Archfey", "The Fiend", "The Great Old One", "The Undying", "The Celestial", "The Hexblade", "The Raven Queen" ) subclass_Wizard <- c( "School of Abjuration", "School of Conjuration", "School of Divination", "School of Enchantment", "School of Evocation", "School of Illusion", "School of Necromancy", "School of Transmutation", "War Magic", "Bladesinging" ) subclass_Artificer <- c( "Alchemist", "Artillerist", "Battle Smith", "Armorer" ) subclass_BloodHunter <- c( "Order of the Ghostslayer", "Order of the Lycan", "Order of the Profane Soul" ) backgrounds <- c( "Acolyte", "Charlatan", "Criminal", "Entertainer", "Folk Hero", "Guild Artisan", "Hermit", "Noble", "Outlander", "Sage", "Sailor", "Soldier", "Urchin", "City Watch", "Clan Crafter", "Cloistered Scholar", "Courtier", "Far Traveler", "Inheritor", "Knight", "Knight of the Order", "Mercenary Veteran", "Urban Bounty Hunter", "Uthgardt Tribe Member", "Waterdhavian Noble", "Haunted One", "Anthropologist", "Archaeologist", "Azorius Functionary", "Boros Legionnaire", "Dimir Operative", "Izzet Engineer", "Rakdos Cultist", "Selesnya Initiate", "Simic Scientist", "Criminal (Spy)", "Gladiator", "Knight (Free Agent)" ) gender <- c("Male", "Female")

hi babe 🥰 u know dot is my absolute favourite character of stranger things and i love love love her d&d character too. i may not know much about st but i do know about d&d and was wondering if you have thought of the rest of the party’s characters? ✨🤩😽
i love youuuu ✨🤍💕
hi cutie! yes, i have thought about them! i mentioned them in chapter 4 but i didn't expand too much on them so here are all the juicy details for you, my fave non-binary dragonborn 💙
mike plays as mozikith, a green dragonborn warlock. his damage type is poison ofc, and his powers come from a bargain with a fiend, specifically asmodeus who is the supreme master of the nine hells. mike thinks he's so slick choosing him as his patron, because the true knowledge of asmodeus' form is hidden in the demogorgon's citadel, so him knowing how his patron looks like means he's a demogorgon slayer. dustin and erica think he's incredibly lame.
dustin plays as seebo, a forest gnome rogue! as a teen, he learned to pickpocket and rig card games to help feed his 10 siblings. once he reaches lvl 3, he chooses his archetype to be arcane trickster. he's friendly with woodland folk, so he quickly becomes friends with jeff's character.
speaking of jeff, he plays as tharivol, a half-elf druid. he's half wood elf, his fave wild shape is a deer because he thinks ramming someone with his antlers is hilarious but his most used once he unlocks it, is an owl. at lvl 2, he chooses his druid circle to be the circle of the land. he prays to silvanus, the god of wild nature, so aside from being friends with dustin's character, he also considers dot's character trustworthy because she prays to lathander, who is allies with silvanus.
gareth, on the other hand, is a dramatic bitch who plays as despair, a tiefling barbarian. he fights with mike a lot, because the reason he's a tiefling is because his grandpa made a deal with asmodeus before he was even born but they become friends through the sheer power of eddie's magnificent storytelling. he's a bit like the hulk, his secret is that he's always angry and for that, his chosen primal path al lvl 3 is path of the berserker.
donny plays as odorr, a half-orc sorcerer which is honestly my fave character i've created for this. he talks mostly in grunts and short sentences, but he's not stupid, just very reserved because he's used to people judging him for being half-orc. his sorcerous origin is wild magic, he doesn't really know where it comes from and that's his motivation to join the adventuring life. eddie doesn't make him roll for a wild magic surge each time he casts, he instead waits for the emotional moments and that's why donny chose that origin: he knew he could trust his dm to not fuck him over.
erica plays as boldhild, a hill dwarf paladin. she loved playing as lady applejack in the previous campaign, but she wanted to do something different this time, mainly be more sturdy. at lvl 3, she takes her final oath, the oath of vengeance. she was initially going to choose an oath of devotion, but after discussing it with eddie, they both decide that being driven by vengance fits her storyline better.
and finally, we have dottie as holly, a lightfoot halfling cleric! she comes from a family of artisans (they own a bakery), and she prays to lathander, the god of birth and renewal, making her a light domain cleric. she's fascinated by fire and controlling it, and associates with beauty and creation rather than with destruction. her first besties in the campaign are jeff, dustin and donny.
i love you for asking this question, you're the best 🥰

Fen - Half Elf, Water Genasi, Wizard
Dagger - Half Elf, Warlock
I printed a whole book with the development process of these designs (and i graduated with full marks lmao)  Here’s almost all of the progress of: LABYRINTH!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
all the development of Dagger, my character. I wanted the connection to her patron, Baphomet, to be visible in her design, and I wanted her to look more like a Rogue than a Warlock just to add some extra confusion. She was originally inspired by Jinx as she is Chaotic Evil, but kind of developed her own mind as soon as we started playing. Yes, it was dramatic. Yes, I’m obsessed with her.
Her tat is her arcane focus, its ground up gemstone. It glows when she casts spells.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The progress on Fen, our beloved soft hearted water boy. He was supposed to look a little pirate-y while still gving off Wizard vibes, and to the dismay of every artist, his first couple layers of clothing are perpetually wet.
The goldfish in his hair are called Left and Right and always switch places.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dv’ein the Rock. That’s actually his Circle title, we are not kidding lmao. He’s the only one who really looks like the class he’s supposed to be, very Druid-y, a hermit, headstrong and firm in his beliefs.
He carries his staff - also his spellcasting focus - everywhere, as a map is engraved in it which documents his travels and attempts to find the other half of his extended family somewhere in their remote living place.
Tumblr media
This is not directly Baphomet, but more a vessel for him which we fought at the end of the session. For the sake of my using this as my final grade project, I zhushed him up a bit and made him look more like the actual Fiend.
Tumblr media
THAT’S IT! This is the cover I made for the book I printed to accompany my presentation. Took so fucking long. Nearly killed me. Bon appetit.

Wren Thanner, true neutral, conjuration wizard, high elf, age 124: The only daughter of the once prosperous Thanner family, the death of her mother and the disappearance of her father suggested something horrific, disgracing her family's name. With only her father's staff to her name, the former heiress studied magic diligently. She left with her newfound skills and only one goal in mind: To find her father and clear her name for the sake of her future.
Jirog Cragstone, chaotic neutral, warlock/barbarian, dwarf, age 55: An incident at a young age forced a younger Jirog into a contract granting him a chance to escape death. Prone to horrifying rages beyond his control, he left the mountain's keep to seek out a way to free himself from his bindings to the fiend. He is willing to use any means necessary to do this.
Hijiri Itakawa, neutral good, artificer, mostly human/part warforged, age 20: A self taught artificer from a cutting edge, trend setting, technologically advanced city. He was adopted by an average family who, although they didn't understand his desire to pursue magic, allowed him to study on his own time. Being self taught, Hijiri often learns by trial and error. Including what landed him in his current situation while toying with gears scavenged from God knows where. Whether they were cursed or if Hijiri accidentally made a mistake that blew up in his face is currently irrelevant. All he knows is that he must stop his transformation into an unrecognizable mess of metal and wires which may no longer be… functional should his transformation progress.
Gloria, lawful good, paladin, indeterminate race, indeterminate age: A mysterious armored fighter traveling the land with one goal in mind: disrupting any cells of the Fell King's cult wherever he finds them. Sworn to the God of Victory, he is a force to be reckoned with. However, there are rumors… Rumors of forbidden magic. Of doing anything in his power to not break his vows…

TALEN VALIR * a version of this character was previously seen on the now-deleted blog wizaren ** full dndbeyond character sheet here ***tw for : abuse, isolation tactics, general cult shit
NAME : Gwyneth Bruldaur Talen Valir NICKNAME(S) : Tal, or Mistress Valir when she's trying to lend an air of mystery to herself. At home people called her Gwyn, or Gwynnie. MOTHER : Enid Bruldaur ( DWARF, ALIVE? ), Alva Windrock Bruldaur ( HALFLING, ALIVE ) FATHER : N/A SIBLING(S) : N/A SIGNIFICANT OTHER(S) : Julien Everild / Evorak ( EX - LOVER )
APPEARANCE : Long, raven-black hair that reaches her waist. Often looks unkempt unless she has it fit into a long braid, or otherwise hidden under the hood of her cloak. Favors darker colors in order to blend in, and her clothes are often just a touch shabby - moreso if it's been awhile on the road. Her eyes glow an inhuman red when casting, but are otherwise a deep and dark black. Her skin is tan and without blemish, save for chain-like scars around her wrists, neck, and ankles, an emblem of her pact. FACECLAIM : Anya Chalotra
If you were to ask Talen, her story is the stuff of trite moralistic novels that discourage the young and tempestuous. Adopted by a married halfling and dwarf pair after they found her squalling on the side of the road, her mother dead and yet still holding the babe in her arms, they named her Gwyneth but almost always only called her Gwyn. Her childhood was idyllic and all too short. A smart, spirited girl, the human girl outstripped her mothers quickly in height and had her own section of the home built to allow her not to stoop quite so much. She had an abiding love for books but their small village had no bookstore, so she had to rely on passing merchants and adventurers.
It was from some passing adventuring party that she acquired her first book on magic at eleven years old, and Talen was hooked. She became quite adept at the beginner's spells in the book ( mostly simple cantrips ). To her village, she might as well have invented the practice of magic. When one of them suggested she go to study magic formally, there was nothing else for it. She'd not waste her time working the farm for a second longer than needed. For the next seven years, she did her best studying for the entrance exam.
A week before the exam, her mothers sent her off with a coin purse gathered from the village and Talen went to take her exam.
And failed. It turns out, self-taught little girls from villages aren't often accepted to formal magic programs. She was devastated and ashamed, unable to face returning home to her mothers and the village, she instead used her coin to get a place at an inn. It was as she was penning a letter to tell them the good news - she'd made it in! She'd be alright! - that she first met a man named Julian Everild.
Julian seemed straight from the pages of a romance novel. Tall and dark and ruggedly handsome, suave in a way she had never experienced, he took pity on her plight. He explained that he was an instructor at the university and though he could not aid her in getting in this time, he could provide lessons that would help her next attempt. And if she needed, a place to stay in his lavish home. Though she refused his invitation into his home, she did accept his aid in learning what he had to teach in hopes she could resubmit her application in a few months.
And thus began the slow, creeping presence of Julian Everild on her life. At every rough turn, he was there to help, her only friend. Her protector. When her money was stolen and the inn she was staying at kicked her out, who offered a room? Who offered to have her letters sent to her mothers? Who introduced her to his friends, a collection of which also resided in his home?
The scary thing about it was that it was so slow, but so fast. He took over everything in her life, and eventually she became involved with him romantically, pleased to be a favorite. That was when the letter from her mother came, tear-stained and pleading for her to return home for her mother Enid's wake, Enid having died in an accident involving a runaway horse and cart. Talen was devastated beyond measure, and preparing to leave when Julian caught her.
He was not simply Julian Everild, but a demon lord whose proper name was Evorak and who had designs of rising among the ranks. His true form was closer in appearance to that of a kyton or chain devil, and when he showed it to Talen, he said it was with the object of gaining her perfect trust. In return for saving her mother's life, he would imbue Talen with powers and she would become his High Priestess, aiding her in his works throughout the realms.
Desperate to save her mother and admittedly already devoted in a way she'd never been to anyone in her life, Talen accepted readily.
And thus she became a warlock in a pact with a demon lord. Evorak remained Julian to the other members of his cult - easier for them to understand, but Talen - or "Tranquility" as he soon began to call her, for she would bring about peace in what would be his realm - was special. She sat at his side as the cult sought out rituals to weaken other demons, strengthen Evorak, and bend the realm of Faerun into a tenth hell. He would keep her just strong enough to work his dark magicks, keep her just confused enough that she wouldn't question him, toy with her emotions, et cetera. This went on for nearly a decade, Talen remaining devoted and then when devotion turned to fear and loathing, remaining too terrified to leave for fear her mother would be killed.
When the time came, Talen could not tell you what was different about this one - the cult was practicing a ritual sacrifice, as was their way, one of the last needed to bring Evorak to his full power. She was standing at the head, knife in hand . . . but this time she looked into the girl's eyes and saw not a sacrifice, but herself. Causing a distraction by killing one of the cultists, she escaped with the girl ( later leaving her in the care of some inn ) and went on the run herself.
Of course, a warlock's pact isn't so easily broken. And there was still her mother to think about. Taking on the name Talen Valir, she makes her way as a wizard-for-hire, trying her best to avoid using her warlock powers in favor of independent magical study like what she intended when she left home - though not always successfully. Julian / Evorak is an ever-present threat, and she worries that he'll eventually catch up to her and draw her in again before she can find a way to break her pact but keep her mother alive.
She's highly interested in necromancy and other related fields.

Sundered by the Styx
underdog!Raphael, RaphaelPOV, Raphael x m!OC, conflicted!cambion, hurt/comfort, warlock!OC, tiefling!OC, whump, pining, relationship with obstacles Spawned from anon 🔴 prompt. I hope anon forgives me for naming Tav. The prompt was so close to my own character, I decided to indulge myself.
Part 1 | Part 2 (soon)
Tumblr media
"Nice decor." An interesting response. Not phased by being whisked away to some unknown place. And either brazen or of good taste. Which one of the two, Raphael had yet to figure out.
"The House of Hope, where the tired come to rest, and the famished come to feed - lavishly. Go on. Partake. Enjoy your supper. After all, it might just be your last."
The tiefling who seemed to be the leader of the group of mortals raised a brow, then turned and browsed the table. Eventually he picked up a particularly good looking piece of cake and began eating. A sweet-tooth. Raphael was intrigued by the reaction. "Not easily rattled, I see. Good. Makes the next part that much more straightforward." And with that, he dropped the human guise and showed off his true from. Spreading his wings and preening before his audience. The mortals looked shocked. "Fuck. A cambion." the other tiefling, Karlach, cursed. "What's better than a devil you don't know? A devil you do." Raphael cited his practiced line with a satisfied grin. The leader of the group kept chewing on his cake, only halting for a short moment when Raphael revealed himself, then returned to munching. Raphael had to admit, the equanimity of this one intrigued him. Provided it wasn't utter stupidity that made the mortal simply dull and callous. He would find out sooner or later. He continued his introductory speech, enjoying the mortals' reactions to it. Ah, he loved the underlying panic in their expressions.
When he was done with his speech, he waited for their reaction. The group looked to their leader, who swallowed the last bite of cake and cleaned his hands with one of the napkins from the table. Manners, Raphael observed approvingly. "Great introduction," the tiefling said honestly, "I liked the 'devil you don't know' part. Very clever." Raphael raised a brow, trying not to look too taken aback by the reaction. "Alas, I'm afraid I won't be making any deals anytime soon." He put the napkin back neatly on the table and offered a slight bow, "Varvain 's the name, by the way." The name rang familiar to Raphael, but he couldn't quite place it. Some of the tadpoled mortals had been harder to identify than others. Karlach and Wyll had been easy to figure out, due to Raphael's decent rapport with Zariel.
But this one - this Varvain - he had trouble to place. He could sense the warlock pact, but he didn't know who or what he was pacted with. Another fiend would explain the unflappable attitude upon seeing a devil. It would also be highly inconvenient for Raphael.
"By all means, take your time," he told the mortals, "Shop around..." He launched into another dramatic speech, enjoying himself greatly, as he put on the theatrics. Upon finishing, he sent the mortals back to where he had plucked them from.
Raphael rubbed his chin in contemplation for a moment, before snapping his fingers to summon Korrilla. "Watch those mortals, and eavesdrop on their leader. I need to know who is lending him their powers." The dwarf nodded, "Will do, boss." He dismissed her with a wave of his hand; sending her back to the mortal realm.
The leader of the group lingered on his mind. "ell mannered, not easily rattled, and admittedly not unpleasant to look at. Raphael's eyes fell to the napkin left neatly on the table, and narrowed his eyes in contemplation. The tiefling didn't look highborn, but he certainly knew decorum. An intriguing puzzle. A puzzle, Raphael set out to solve.
He mobilized some of his resources within Baator to discreetly keep an ear out for any mentions of a Varvain. It didn't take long until one of the cambions sworn to him returned with news. "I might have found this Varvain's patron, master." she said, as she approached Raphael, who was browsing books in the archives. "Well, don't let me wait." He responded drily, turning his attention to the other fiend. "I figured someone in the Fetters in Dis might know him. And they did. He actually has a bit of a reputation there." the cambion reported, "Apparently he's the favorite pet of a pit fiend called Frith."
Raphael's expression turned into an annoyed frown, "Frith..." He felt the need to punch something. Or someone. He knew the name. One of Dispater's lap dogs. "Anything else?" he asked, trying his damnedest to stay composed. The cambion shook her head, "No, master. That's all I could find out without my questioning becoming obvious." Raphael nodded, "Good work," and dismissed her with a wave of his hand. He mulled the information over in his head for a while. This might be an obstacle for his plans, depending on the details of the contract between Frith and Varvain that gave the mortal his power.
When he finally turned to leave the archive, he saw the Archivist giving him a look Raphael didn't appreciate. Upon seeing the devil glaring at him, the archivist swiftly busied himself with a ledger.
The cambion's nostrils flared in annoyance, but breaking spines would have to wait. He had a problem to solve.
Tumblr media
Raphael made his way to Dis. He didn't particularly like the place; mostly because every time he came here, the streets had changed, making navigation difficult. It ground against his sense of order. At least coming here was easy enough. Due to the fetters being accessible to mortals, Raphael could just slip in without any trouble.
The fetters' market was a curious sight. Mortals and devils, both peddling their wares to each other. Many a deal struck, many a soul claimed. Though he did not like the city, Raphael had to admire the industrious efficiency of the procurement of souls in this place.
He focused back on his task - it wasn't hard to find Frith's haunt, the "bath house", as he called it. Truly it was more of a brothel, but appearances mattered in some way, when trying to trap mortals. It was a gaudy place he's been to before. There was a pool in the middle of it, so technically calling it a 'bath' was valid, even if most of the mortals who found themselves lured here, ended up enjoying either the music, or other physical pleasures outside the water. In a way, the place reminded him of Sharess' Caress, but with very different clientele. In the far back, on a dais lording over the place stood, what could only be described as a throne, with a large bed not far behind it. Raphael wrinkled his nose but was glad, that Frith wasn't heaving any entertainment right now. The pit fiend sat on his "throne", wearing his more palatable disguise of a handsome devil - tiefling, even - with short horns, slicked back hair, and a gaudy beard that reminded Raphael of both, his father and Dispater.
As he walked along the outside of the pool, Raphael took stock of the other beings present. Most were mortals, either guests who will probably never be able to leave again, or Frith's enslaved mortals who offered the entertainment. Some played music, some made food, some lulled the guests into letting their guard down by massaging them, and some... well. But there were also devils here. A succubus or two, Raphael noticed. Made sense, given the purpose of this place. But also some other devils who were here to be entertained. Probably allies of Frith's enjoying some sort of treat, Raphael assumed.
He was pulled from his thoughts, as he closed in on Frith's "throne". "You, cambion, you're not one of mine. I hope you have a good reason to be here." Frith's smooth but powerful voice boomed at him. Cambion. Raphael ground his teeth. Not only did the pit fiend not recognize him, he was also degraded to just a cambion. "I would have a word with you," he replied, doing his best to not let his frustration show. "I don't waste my time with half-breeds not sworn to me. So unless you're here to pledge your undying allegiance - shoo." Frith waved his hand dismissively.
Raphael clenched his fists in anger. Half-breed? Half-breed!? He took a deep breath, "I am Raphael. You might have--" "Oh, one of Mephistopheles' brood. I've heard of you." Frith interrupted him with a chuckle, "Bit of a rebel from what I hear. Not in your father's best graces, hm?" Raphael wanted nothing more, than to wipe that smirk off the fiend's face. But he knew he was no match for him - yet. This would all change, once he had the Crown of Karsus. Only a matter of time...
He took a frustrated breath, "Yes. My father and I don't exactly see eye to eye. But I'm not here to speak about him." Frith kept smirking condescendingly at the cambion before him, "Well, I am intrigued what would bring you here, half-breed, So I'll humor you." he beckoned Raphael to come closer, which he did. "Why do you visit me in my humble abode?" Raphael's jaw clenched, "I think I have stumbled upon one of your wayward warlocks." he tried to sound casual, "And I got curious what kind of relationship you have with them. I've seen different kinds of patronages during my days. I'm always interested to..." he gestured vaguely, "...learn, from others and their experiences."
Frith's superior smirk slowly vanished, "And which warlock would that be, pray tell? Do you have a name?" Raphael did his best to sound conversational, "He did introduce himself as Varvain." The moment he said the name, he saw something shift in Frith's expression. Though he couldn't quite tell what it was. "Varvain - my pet. He's having an unplanned vacation in the mortal realm." Frith replied and narrowed his eyes, "How did you run into him?" Raphael shrugged, "Oh, I was looking for souls, you know. Lots of death going on at the Sword Coast these days." He smirked a little. Frith regarded the cambion for a bit, "Well, you won't have Varvain's soul. It is mine." he put a lot of emphasis on that last word, adding a threatening undertone that was hard to miss. Raphael gave a little sideways nod, "Far be it from me to get between you and your pet. But pray tell, might I have a look at his contract, by any chance?" This was far from smooth, but there was no way around asking about the contract sooner or later, "Merely to serve as inspiration for my own, you understand. There's a little tiefling girl I'm interested in... mentoring."
Frith was quiet for a moment, as he looked Raphael up and down. Then he stood up, smiling casually - but something wasn't right, Raphael could tell. "You want to look at Varvain's contract?" He echoed the request, as he stepped down from the dais and approached Raphael. The cambion felt like he should be retreating, but he stood his ground. An error. Frith's hand shot up, grabbing Raphael by the throat and pulling him close to his face, "Varvain is mine, and whatever you think to want or get from him, you best swiftly forget about it, you half-mortal filth." Frith growled. Raphael grabbed the pit fiend's arm, tried to wrest himself free, but to no avail. "I am no mortal!" he croaked angrily, defiantly, but only got a laugh in response. "Well, you're certainly no devil either." Frith hissed and tightened his grip. The cambion tried to respond but all that came out of his strangled throat was a strained gurgle. "Mephistopheles would probably thank me for getting rid of you, but you are his problem, mortal spawn. Get out of my domain. Now." He threw Raphael to the ground like a ragdoll, "And if you dare to even so much as sniff on Varvain's soul, I will throw you into the pit of flame myself!"
Raphael could see the pit fiend's eyes burn with rage, and he had no doubt he was one spark away from dropping his disguise. Coughing, Raphael staggered to his feet. He glared angrily at the other devil, but he knew if it came to open violence, he would draw the short end of the stick. The entire bath house had become silent. The music had stopped and nobody dared to speak or move. Raphael glared at Frith, but he knew when to make a tactical retreat. He turned and stomped out of the building, stewing in his anger and frustration. He swore to himself, once he had the Crown of Karsus, he would return and tear Frith limb from limb. But for now he would have to bide his time.
He returned to the House of Hope to nurse his bruised ego.
(To be continued...)

I've never posted art for dnd here before but I really liked this one. In the wake of my cleric being executed for heresy (Order cleric of Asmodeus) our warlock discovered his powers were also infernal based, not a gift from a god he'd worshiped since childhood. As part of his discovery he was kidnapped by infernal cultists (adopted siblings of the cleric) and spirited away to be used as a conduit to summon a powerful devil. Now the party has to race through infernal cathedrals and across the jungle to stop them and hopefully save the warlock from having his soul shattered and all sorts of horrible things like that.
Feels weird not introducing the party so I'll do that too
Micah - human fiend warlock
Sergei - human battlemaster fighter
Eryk - orc fighter/barbarian
Adric - dwarf lore bard
Heidi -kalshtar ghostslayer blood hunter

One of the experiments that is inadvertently giving new depth to my NPCs and my players' PCs is imagining all characters in a high school AU. My game has a legendary group of adventurers and in this AU they're upper classmen and leaders of certain clubs. The legendary dwarf fighter is the captain of the wrestling team and the dragonborn paladin is the captain of varsity football and they absolutely compete with each other. The slutty human fiend warlock is on the cheerleading team because it catches him a lot of consensual tail. The gnoll antagonist exarch of the God of Undeath betrays his favorite professor (his god) and unwisely jumps into bad boy territory by getting into a necromancer punk rock band. It's stunning how many ideas this gives me!

GROUP PICTURE OF MY PARTY
Tumblr media
Look at them, so beautiful, so bastard, all of them
This is the Entire A-Plot party in our Campaign!! (We just split the campaign in two, same players, a couple different PCs, main difference being that I’m DMing the second campaign, which I call the B-Plot. B-Plot gives our main DM a chance to kick back and be a Player while he works through a creative block in the A-Plot)
From Left to Right:
• Sibuna: The New Divine Entity created when my partner’s original PC Balasar accidentally merged with his evil father, Dourgothoth (a potential BBEG and decidedly an enemy to our party)
• Anec Su: My partner’s new PC, Cleric of Sibuna, half dusk elf half dwarf
• Marcus: A very important NPC. He was 8 for most of our campaign; but in ten days of our time, he spent 14 years repetitively traveling timelines looking for a way to undo the biggest mistake our party has made. He is the adopted son of our mentor Blake.
• Laucian: Drow Warlock PC who was dumped by his Patron, only to become a Warlock to his future self from an alternate timeline. Joke’s on him, his future self is still in service of Kaku, a Noble Fae. (Yes I know he’s just Drow Sephiroth, that’s what the guy who plays him wanted him to look like)
• Insouciance: Tiefling Dream Druid PC. Radiates an aura of pestilence after an unfortunate encounter with a Pit Fiend. Our mentor’s vampiric soul was once trapped in his body, and he refused to let him out despite our mentor’s warnings. We got Blake out, but the ordeal left Insouciance’s own soul permanently scarred.
• Trevor: Best Bastard, my favorite NPC. He’s a VTM Ravnos Vampire, who once committed Diablerie, becoming a master Thaumaturge over time. This left him a Pariah. He and Mel are besties.
• Meliora: My PC, Tiefling Spirit Bard/Necromancy Wizard Multiclass. Born in our Universe’s Sixth Circle of Hell, she’s the group sweetheart. She uses her powers primarily to aid ghosts in passing on properly. She’s also literally a serial killer, but it’s all good. Since we ended up in VTM Chicago, she speaks with the ghosts of murder victims(typically cold cases), and murders their killers to resolve their earthly business. She also eats teeth.
• Yevelda: Half Orc Barbarian PC. HER ROYAL THIGHNESS. I love her almost as much as Mel does. She’s my friend’s very first DnD character and she’s an absolute badass. We recently learned that her estranged mother was Queen in a far away land, and that Yevelda is the primary candidate for the Throne(we learned this via an assassin her brother sent to kill her)
• Eshtol: One of our DM’s former VTM PCs, now an NPC. He’s our Mentor’s dickhead brother(though he doesn’t realize our mentor IS his brother). He is a Kuejin VTM Vampire; and he’s Fae Bonded to Kaku, Lucien’s Ex Patron
• Blake: Our Mentor, a Ravnos Vampire, and a former VTM PC of our DM, now the most important NPC. He’s the one who accidentally brought us from Waterdeep to Chicago
