I did a vine theme for pumpkin carving this year. A pumpkin pumpkin and a rose pumpkin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'd made a poll asking whether to do vines or draw Dan and Valerie from Danny Phantom, or both. ...And although 'vines' won, the idea of adding something Dan and Val related was too compelling. The thought of deep red roses with their thorns being like Valerie. ...And, well, I suppose Dan's like a big heavy pumpkin being thrown at stuff?
I tried making the plants wrap around an object representing them, Dan in a D shape and Valerie in a triangle shape. Though it's not very noticeable.

I started reading Lord of the Rings (bought Fellowship of the Ring like… last spring but never got around to starting) and I’d just like to say. Holy fuck what a slow book. You mean to tell me I’m over a hundred pages in and this man is only just leaving the Shire? Sign me up for MORE I love this shit. Tolkien said “I will take exactly as much time as I want to describe things and you will like it”. AND I DO

"this social psychology experiment proves humans are inherently cruel and domineering!" "no this other social psychology experiment proves humans are inherently kind and cooperative!" everyone learn that singular experiments cannot be taken as conclusive proof of anything + consider that perhaps literally no amount of social psychology studies will ever "prove" any kind of inherent, all-encompassing moral truth about all of humanity and will only ever be an example of possible group conduct in certain conditions, in a certain culture and time, among certain people
#97#sorry for the occasional random complaining about psych experiments#but truly theyre soooo irritating#bc theyre flashy and kinda fun to learn about so people know abt them quite a bit#but theyre never presented with like.#the necessary understanding of the scientific method or proper balancing of their claims to qualify what exactly they supposedly show.#so instead people are just encouraged to draw the simplest conclusions.#often misanthropic ones bc of how badly done many of these so-called experiments are (and i do not recognize many of these as experiments#due to the lack of application of the scientific method eg researcher intervention lack of control group etc)#(and not being reproducible quite often as well)#(imo shit like for example most infamous stanford prison experiment but also many others are just demonstrations.)#(not a scientific experiment. did not involve the scientific method. just some guy doing ethical misconduct in a basement.)#not hating on psych research as a field btw i literally would like to do psych research#however the way cherrypicked flashy and impressive or shocking isolated experiments are placed front and center in the popular understandin#of psych imo just misinforms the public greatly and often about like. yknow stuff you probably dont want to ingrain into people?#like. for example if you want to talk about the way perceived authority can lead many people to commit acts they morally dont agree with?#yes the milgram experiment is like a good thing to learn about imo.#however that experiment is like.. almost coupled in the popular consciousness w again the stanford prison scientific mishandling#and its conclusion is broadened to 'if given the chance all people will brutalize and abuse other people'#when the kindest possible interpretation of that mess is that if you take milgrams experiment but the researchers are in denial that#they are also inducing obedience to authority and also theyre using real people as the abused subject instead of an actor#and also every subject selected is a college aged white man whos interested in prison environments#then yes it turns pretty fucking bad.#but its not about the nature of humanity. its about an event of that obedience to authority leading some very specific subjects#who are not representative of the general population whatsoever#into behaviors which should never have been allowed to take place in an ethical research environment

Jedi Critical/Negativity tag!
In the tags list some things that suck about the Jedi Order in Star Wars. I’ll start!
#anti jedi apologists#jedi critical#tag the reasons why the Jedi suck#I’ll start#1) Obi-Wan Yoda and the Council are partially responsible for influencing Anakin Skywalker to become Darth Vader in the first place#2) recruit children as soldiers#3) most of them are poorly written Gary Stus and/or Mary Sues with no real character development except for Luke and Anakin Skywalker#4) Most of them don’t give any shits about creating collateral damage#5) their anti attachment doctrine is incredibly harmful and toxic to both themselves and the world around them#6) Obi-Wan is honestly just as arrogant aggressive manipulative ruthless self-centered and vindictive as Anakin becomes at his worst#in his ‘ends justify the means’ methods and duels with opponents if not worse at times#but unlike Anakin and Luke Skywalker there are NEVER any real stakes for him being that way or negative consequences when he doesn’t stop#when Luke acts cocky on Bespin in his conflict with Vader after learning to use a lightsaber a few days ago on his own he loses his hand#I mean Anakin and Luke come to distrust and resent him for being a manipulative asshole and he loses people he cares about#but he never gets any warnings about how he shouldn’t be fighting dirty because it makes him no better to stoop to his enemies level#there’s never a stake in the narrative for him never learning to not fight dirty and vindictively on the battlefield#and continuing to justify it as ‘for the greater good’#when obi wan picks fights with enemies fights dishonorably or seeks vengeance it’s framed as ‘cool’#but when Anakin or Luke do it regardless of their good intentions it’s never not framed as something bad that will come back to haunt them#or eventually bring them to deep to the dark side if they don’t learn to stop#7) Yoda is the most unhelpful ‘wisest Jedi’ ever#8) obi-wan and Yoda deliberately deceive endanger and manipulate Luke Skywalker to kill off the fearsome enemy they helped turn his dad into#and never express any sort of remorse to him when Luke calls them out on their bs#one of the main villains can learn the lesson of it being wrong to use luke as a pawn to escape his problems in the last 1/2 hour of ROTJ#but obi-wan and Yoda never do because they’re ‘heroes’ for being on the lesser evil of two very fucked up sides#9) aside from a few individual Jedi most of them are just the lawful evil version of the Sith

Will I get roasted if I admit that I don’t think Bloodborne has hardly any deliberate villains with the exception of Micolash? Because that’s what I think…
And I’ll admit, when I first played through Bloodborne, after all the hell (mostly Yahar’gul) I went through before getting to the Nightmare of Mensis, meeting Micolash felt like meeting The One Responsible. He was goofy, yes…but he also gave me the heaviest sense of dread…I can’t explain it. I just got this gut feeling that he was utterly deranged and terrifying.

Tbf isn’t every character super fanonized on ao3? Every time I see Cass be demoted to family therapist, Dick reduced to the happy sunshine boy, or Jason be an abuser with pit madness I want to scream. It’s often untagged also so that just makes it worse 😭
yeah :( i try so hard to avoid super fanony interpretations of characters and its basically impossible bc the nature of the bat fandom is that youre always going to stumble onto a fic written by someone thats never opened a comic </3
i think the main reason i dont like fanonized tim is that um. i dont like tim. jkjk hes alright in the actual comics but i dont really care much about him so when i see fanfics being like "poor uwu timmy got hurt 🥺" or "silly tim is so super smarter than everyone 😝" it makes me hate him more and want to kill

like i don't know how to tell you people that sometimes people don't want to smell weed and that's not prudish or harshing your vibe or whatever. some people have quit marijuana usage and the smell is triggering. some people have medical issues that make it hard to deal with. some people just plain don't like the smell! and that's fine! literally just take an edible it's NOT hard.

My therapist gave me a few coping methods that are similar in design to basic banishing and groundings. How does a constructive and will driven mind compare to magic?
I call this one the Body Exorcism:
1. Feel an emotion
2. Where is the emotion?
3. What sensation does the emotion bring?
4. What is this emotion (The Naming)?
5. Feel the emotion
6. Let thoughts float by
7. Send emotion into the lower belly
8. Send the emotion down the legs
9. Let the emotion melt into the earth
Sphere of Emotional Distance:
If you cannot be physically distant from a problem person, you can always be emotionally distant.
You can visualize a sphere around you that nothing can penetrate but what you Will, or just learn to shut off your emotions towards a particulal person/issue.
I use both of these on a regular basis to greater or lesser effect. The more balanced I am mentally the more I notice my life flowing in the general direction I want. Sometimes I think of a small desire and it comes to pass with no more then a thought. I notice bigger changes need bigger efforts. I can't think away a bad work environment, and so I add some sigils and energy breaking tactics and notice the environment slowly shifts.
Little magics create little results, but results are results, are they not?

seeing the discourse around whether oppenheimer should have represented japanese/indigenous americans and I just wanna say I think they can feel however they want about this film
#people are pointing out that Oppenheimer doesn’t represent JPN or indigenous peoples#and the reactions has been very aggressively “THE MOVIE IS CALLED OPPENHEIMER YOU IDIOT!!!!#like no fucking shit but can you not see things from their perspective are you as limited as oppenheimer himself#like yes I understand that it was Nolan’s intentional choice to center the movie so heavily around oppenheimer#to convey just how self-centered and unconcerned he and americans were about the lives of the JPN/IP#and so by not including them it is a direct representation of how absent they truly were in the eyes of americans#and the movie is strictly from Oppenheimer’s perspective it wouldn’t be historically accurate blah blah blah#okay I understand all that and it is reasonable#but imagine if you were part of either of these communities where the most devastating bombs were dropped on CIVILIANS#would nolan’s directing choices matter to you because I would not give a fuck#like you are not going to talk about the atomic bomb AND CENTER THE NARRATIVE AROUND THE WAR CRIMINAL???#idgaf if it portrays him badly you need to make him seem even worse by portraying the victims#and especially when americans to this day still act like it was justified I especially understand why this remains a sensitive topic#and apparently there was a scene where americans were like “dont bomb kyoto cause we vacationed there#and the point is to depict just how utterly careless and selfish americans are when it came to human lives#but apparently people in the theaters laughed during this part#so that just goes to show effective nolan’s method was. like did we really think americans would understand the nuances#idk just my thoughts

now that virvox has basically handed me my own personal slightly clunky boyband with the voicevox humming update to play with i now fully understand the urge for anime idol companies to give all the vocal lines to one specific character. i want to put my specialest little guy of all time (takehiro) in like every part LOL
#i reigned myself in. but just so u know. the green genbu track was in danger of taking over the whole thing HKJDSJFDSD#part of it is also because hes honestly one of the strongest male vocals for voicevox humming rn -- least amount of like#breathy noise messing with stuff. might be because he was one of the earlier ones to be updated so maybe theyve like#slowly fixed up glitches? or maybe the previous experiences with this voice being turned into a singing synth#even though unrelated -- maybe that helped development in some way? gave an example of how things should sound?#i dunno LOL im not a programmer#but also the other reason i keep wanting to overcenter my center is because he is my special little guy HJKSFS#and also im like. a sap. now that ive figure out more fruity loops techniques (how to cut and silence audio LOL)#watch out....i can make any mix of vocals and duets and whatever i want.......watch out........#i can make them as overly emotional and melodramatic and related to character relationships ive made up as i want!!!!#NOW i do need to deal with the audio levels. pray for me. the automation clip situation is starting JHKSDJFDS#i also need to figure out how to deal with kotarous voice because holy shit. i do NOT know how to compress higher voices#i mean i dont know how to compress low voices either BUT I CAN FUDGE IT i can fudge it....but this is a new world for me#i always heard people saying mixing deep voices is harder than higher voices but because i started my#amateur hobbyist audio mixing journey with fucking. asterian. i just dont know what to do with a mid-high voice LOL#i'll have to mess around a bunch i think. just turn dials until something sounds okay. thats my method <3 thats THE method
