"Nobody can prove or disprove claims of the nonmaterial world using a method that evaluates claims about the material world. Archaeologists can prove only that a religious claim about the material world cannot be taken at face value. Some might think this means that the religion is false; but it might also mean that a religion’s claim about the material world, even if unsubstantiated by science, holds deeper truths. From such a perspective, science encourages one to look deeper into religious beliefs, to find a significance that goes beyond issues of mere space and time."

Maurice: Communication in Practice
Maurice, written by E.M. Forster, has found its niche to the people of the world that recognizes the universal queer experiences depicted in the book. Maurice utilizes communication methods, both verbal and nonverbal, to express queer identity in high society England.
Artifacts are used to display one’s identity. In the faithful 1987 film adaptation of the same name, Alec wears flat caps; trousers; and boots to communicate his status as a working class man, but he is clean of dirt, despite his outdoor work, to show his family's status as respectable business men. The only time he is seen wearing a suit, resembling Clive’s personal style, is when he goes to the city to visit Maurice. This communicates a challenge to the class system itself, which Alec expresses verbally when he tells Maurice “I’m as good as you.”
The terms “gay” or “homosexual” were not commonly used in Maurice’s time. Despite the book never using the word, the book still describes this identity through ambiguous imagery and coded language. Maurice Hall describes himself as an “unspeakable of the Oscar Wilde sort”. This disproves the theory of linguistic determinism. Linguistic determinism states that “we cannot perceive or think about things for which we don’t have names,” (Wood, p. 113). Maurice used Wilde’s public trial, a concept the general public knew, to describe an experience that he doesn’t have words for. This is so he can understand his own identity as well as communicate that identity to others.
During Maurice’s final goodbye to Clive Durham, he explains that he has  shared “All I have. Which includes my body,” (Forster, chapter 46) with Alec. “Share” not only refers to the act of sex, but everything else that comes in a romantic relationship. The word itself was intentionally ambiguous for people to assume the complexity of a romantic relationship without explaining everything that comes with it. Maurice doesn’t say the words “trust” or “love”, but its existence is implied because you cannot share nothing in a relationship.
Maurice is as much about Clive as it is about Maurice. Clive agrees with a certain speech community so he can please his mother, appeal to the public, and keep his position as a politician. A speech community is when a group shares an understanding on how communication works (Woods, p. 120). Clive aligns himself with an interpretation of Plato’s Symposium about male friendship. As Clive puts it: “The sole excuse for any relationship between men is that it remains purely platonic,” (Forster, chapter 46). Any physical contact is friendly, nothing more. When Clive kisses Maurice’s hand, it is an act of platonic friendship while remembering the past. For Maurice and Alec, however, this gesture is a sign of romantic and sexual intimacy. Clive expresses disgust when Maurice suggests it meant differently than Clive’s intentions.
Greenwood is the abstract concept of a place beyond society where queer men can express queer love without punishment. Greenwood is only mentioned a handful of times, and it is never described. Greenwood is only shown by the association of embracing human nature and the beauty of the outdoors. This imagery evokes different feelings in different people, the most common one being “hope”, another highly subjective feeling. Forster himself struggled with writing Maurice and Alec in Greenwood because of this. What does living in hope look like?
Maurice is dependent on the language of the time. Without the expectation of behavior depending on things such as gender and social class, there would be no conflict. Maurice would have already been living in Greenwood.

Here is the letter:
Dear Textbook Publishers:
We are deeply troubled by the news of some textbook publishers yielding to the unreasonable demands of certain government representatives calling for the censorship of school educational materials, specifically textbooks. We write to you out of concern that those who are charged with supporting the education of this country’s students, such as yourselves, may be tempted to water down critical information to appeal to the lowest common denominator.
We urge any company who has not yet given in to this pressure to hold the line for our democracy. Our country’s future is at stake. You hold enormous influence in shaping how our great nation’s history is told, and the consequences of your actions will reverberate for generations to come. Honestly grappling with our legacy has long been a cornerstone of American patriotism.
If we are to continue striving for a more perfect union, then we must carry out our duty of ensuring future generations understand our full history as well as the contributions of all its people. That includes learning from our mistakes. These lessons are vital to preparing our youth to fully engage in a free and fair democracy.
Sanitizing our educational texts for the mercurial comfort of a few today ultimately limits the next generation’s ability to make informed decisions for themselves. Moreover, the negative impact that censorship and book-banning has on this nation’s students – many already marginalized and underrepresented in society – cannot be overstated during a time when we are facing an unprecedented youth mental health crisis. Each and every single student in the United States of America has the right to exist, to be seen, and to be represented. It is an important priority of our administrations to ensure that any educational materials censored to appeal to political pressure do not negatively impact our educational goals and values in our states.
As such, please know that we will be working closely with all of our school districts to ensure they are fully informed of which texts include comprehensive and accurate educational information – and which have been inappropriately censored – when they consider procurement of instructional materials for the nearly nine million students our states serve.
The letter was sent to the following publishers: Cengage Learning, Goodheart-Willcox, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, McGraw Hill Education, Pearson, Routledge Taylor and Francis Group, Savvas Learning Co., Scholastic and Teachers Curriculum Institute.

"Although it is important to realize that language is conventional, it is also important not to misunderstand this fact. From the idea that language is conventional, it is easy to conclude that language is totally arbitrary. If language is totally arbitrary, then it might seem that it really does not matter which words we use or how we put them together. It takes only a little thought to see that this view, however daring it might seem, misrepresents the role of conventions in language. If we wish to communicate with others, we must follow the system of conventions that others use. [...] Communication can take place only within a shared system of conventions. Conventions do not destroy meaning by making it arbitrary; conventions bring meaning into existence."

Workshop Reflection #3: Science as a Focus
New Learning Experience
Making bubble solution was a new learning experience for me. I have played with bubbles many times in the past, but I have never had an opportunity to make bubble solution. I found both bubble making activities to be very fun and engaging. I particularly enjoyed testing out the different tools to see which one would create the best bubbles.

Favourite Activity
The Exploring Rocks activity was my favourite activity from Workshop #3. I believe that this activity is a valuable learning experience for the children. While participating in this activity, the children will have an opportunity to examine and categorize various types of rocks. While I was participating in this activity, I noticed that some of the rocks contained ammonites. I also discovered a pumice stone at the bottom of the basket. I believe that these rocks in particular will be of interest to the children. I speculate that the children will be curious as to why there are snail shells solidified in some of the rocks. This provides educators with an opportunity to teach the children about ammonites, fossils, and the Jurassic period. I also speculate that the children will be curious as to why the pumice stone is significantly lighter than the rest of the rocks. This provides educators with an opportunity to teach the children about volcanoes; The educators can even show the children that the pumice stone floats on water. Overall, I believe that the Exploring Rocks activity is a fun and engaging learning experience for the children. In my profession as an Early Childhood Educator, I will absolutely plan an activity similar to the Exploring Rocks activity to support the children's Earth and Space Science learning.

Categorizing Rocks.

Age Groups
I would plan the Exploring Rocks activity for preschoolers and kindergarteners. I believe that the categorization aspect of this activity is most appropriate for children ages three to five. Howard and Mayesky (2022) remind readers that three-year-olds are able to enjoy classifying experiences on a beginning level (e.g., sorting buttons from objects that are not buttons) while four- and five-year-olds are able to classify objects according to similar characteristics (pp. 65, 368). School-age children are able to participate in classifying experiences as well. However, I believe that they would find this type of activity to be less engaging than preschoolers and kindergarteners.

So I recently heard that someone called Michelangelo’s David Porn. An interesting take on things as this painting
Tumblr media
Is in-fact way more pornographic than this:
Tumblr media
(I realize the irony of me censoring it. My point still stands, I simply don’t know tumblers policy as they may agree with that guy.)
The difference is not is amount of clothing, but in intension, or at least perceived intention as the artiest of both paintings have been dead for centuries at this point.
The first example is the Swing, One of if not the most well known artwork of the rococo period. With its bright and playful atmosphere but also innocent salaciousness. Like the man is looking up her skirt. This was well before bloomers. It’s energetic and meant to slightly ar rouse the audience.
Rococo is an evolution from baroque art, that was an invention of the council at Trent as part of the counter reformation. An attempt to address the grievances the Protestants (Lutherans) had with the Catholic Church at that time. And layed out guidelines to Baroque Art. An Art for the common people, with the highly emotional and highly theatrical simular to the gothic architecture of medieval Europe. I mean if it ain’t baroque don’t fix it I guess. These guidelines seemed to encourage modestly sensual artwork, such as the ecstasy of saint Teresa, or all those baby bum cupids.
In the meantime David here is from the renaissance, and is less about sensuality and more a celebration of the ideal (masculine ) human form. It is a rather reclined, unsexy posed, like you walked in to a show and the guy already there looks at you and acknowledges your presence before going back to washing his hair.
Do note that neither of these pictures are pornography. Sensuality dose not equal porn. After all Marilyn Monroe is well known for her many many sensual roles in films, but her having a body like she did did not immediately mean that her very existence was porn (you know what bad example, that poor lady had to put up with so much just because of her looks). At the same time a lack of clothing dose not equal porn. Christ on the cross is depicted with very little clothes on. But that is much less pornographic than some pictures I have seen where the people are fully dressed. In full length skirts, pants, long sleeve shirts so on and so forth.
This is taken from a textbook called: Culture and Values; a survey of the humanities Volume II by Lawrence s. Cunningham, John J. Reich, Lois Fichner-Rathus. Published by Cengage learning copyrighted in 2018.
It’s a good textbook, but wish it spent more chapters non European humanities, im happy it at least has them, but pre colonial Americas gets one chapter to cover two continents, and Africa got one chapter (not counting Egypt that had a section in the earlier volume (not chapter, section))
I infact am very bad at telling when things are pornographic or not, to the point where I have stumbled across the stuff and not even been aware of what I was seeing. But even I can tell this.
I mean it’s not like I’m an expert on the subject, but I think I understand it at least to the point to say when someone is being st—silly.

Can u give me some suggestions fr physics
Physics? Are u a JEE or NEET aspirant? Or are u aiming for boards and preparing SAT?
Broooo. I am in 11th. I am the last person you should ask a suggestion from. It’s better if u ask someone who already cracked NEET or JEE. But my sister did make it to AIIMS Delhi. So I may help you with what I learnt from her.
For JEE:
BM Sharma and HC Verma are cool ig. There also follow this publisher called Cengage. Most of my friends who are pursuing JEE follow those and they end up scoring really well in mock tests.
For NEET:
1. Read SL ARORA book and solve “problems for practice” in the preliminary level
2. Then solve past 36 years NEET chapter wise question bank.
3. This with the topping of one NCERT book read and it’s numerical are perfect combo in my opinion.
4. You could also sign up for a Test Series. It pressurises you to study a lot.
For Boards:
1. NCERT
2. NCERT
3 NCERT
No other option. It’s basically reading NCERT so many time that u can recite it out.
Anyway I didn’t pass 11th or give NEET or anything yet. It is what I BELIEVE THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE. It’s no way a full proof way and even I m in the process of trial and error. Also, different techniques work for different people. Some people are visual learners. For them, watching YouTube videos maybe a better option. Some learn better by listening to lectures. For them listening to the Walter Lewin’s lectures on YouTube May turn out to be OP. Strictly speaking I m not comfortable with either. I like reading a variety of books.
If u like reading a variety of books too then after doing all these stuff study some study material (if u signed up for any big tuition centre like ALLEN and all) and after that u May look at the study material you received from tuition houses (although low key if u understand the books it’s unnecessary I feel).

Koo's high speed car ride with Dodi
Former GF Prince Andrew, Koo Stark thought she was going to die during a car trip with Dodi Fayed. The firmer  actress cowered in terror on the floor of the tycoon's limo during a high-speed chase with photographers, the Mail can reveal. As Dodi screamed: "Lose them. Lose them," the playboy's chauffeur drove at speeds up to 100mph. The terror journey eerily mirrors the tragedy two weeks ago when Princess Di and Dodi lost their lives during a chase with photographers in Paris. The couple's drunken driver, Henri Paul, is believed to have taunted photographers outside Paris's Ritz Hotel by sneering: "Don't bother following, you won't catch us." Today, we reveal how Koo was caught up in the early morning cat-and- mouse chase during a date with Dodi in New York... And how she forged an amazing relationship with the Egyptian millionaire.

Not to be confused with Spotify.
Shopify Inc., stylized as shopify is a Canadian multinational e-commerce company headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario.
Criticism
In 2017, the #DeleteShopify hashtag campaign called for a boycott of Shopify for allowing Breitbart News to host a shop on its platform. Shopify's CEO, Tobias Lütke, responded to the criticism,[109] saying "refusing to do business with the site would constitute a violation of free speech".
In October 2017, Citron Research founder, short-seller Andrew Left released a report which claimed Shopify was overstating the number of merchants using the e-commerce platform and described it as a "get-rich-quick" scheme in contravention of Federal Trade Commission regulations. The day the report was released, the stock plunged more than 11%. Left wrote another report about Shopify in April 2019, stating he believed Shopify's stock price would come down 50% in the next 12 months. In January 2020, Left announced in his annual letter to investors that Citron Research had exited the short position. The reports did not lead to an investigation into Shopify by the FTC.
In July 2022, Shopify was criticized by left-leaning media watchdog Media Matters for hosting the online store of far-right, anti-LGBT influencer Libs of TikTok. In response to Media Matters, a Shopify spokesperson stated that Libs of TikTok was not in violation of the company's Acceptable Use Policy, which "clearly outlines the activities that are not permitted on [the] platform." In November 2022, this criticism was renewed when an article published by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) article highlighted Ottawa City Council member Ariel Troster's criticism of the company in light of a recent shooting at an LGBTQ nightclub. Sharing the CBC article, Nandini Jammi of Check My Ads criticized Shopify on Twitter. In response to Jammi, CEO Tobias Lütke tweeted, "Shopify has a published acceptable use policy and a principled process to apply it. Pressure groups on all sides try to influence it sometimes and CBC needs to see through that not amplify bad faith narrative."
Lawsuits
In December 2021, a group of publishers including Pearson Education, Inc., Macmillan Learning, Cengage Learning, Inc., Elsevier Inc., and McGraw Hill sued Shopify claiming that it had failed to remove listings and stores selling pirated copies of their books and learning materials. The lawsuit was settled "amicably" out of court; the details were not disclosed.
A class-action lawsuit for $130 million was filed in May 2023 by employees who had been laid off.
In June 2023 Shopify announced a fight against "patent trolls" who "stealthily orchestrate hundreds of patent litigation cases yearly", and filed a lawsuit.
Data breach
In September 2020, Shopify confirmed a data breach in which customer data from fewer than 200 merchants was stolen. One of those merchants later said over 4,900 of their customers alone had had their information accessed. Shopify claims that the data stolen included names, addresses and order details, but not "complete payment card numbers or other sensitive personal or financial information." Shopify said that there was no evidence that the data had been misused, and identified two "rogue members" of its support team as having been responsible. They were fired, and the matter was forwarded to the FBI.
Tumblr media
Tobias "Tobi" Lütke MSC is a German/Canadian entrepreneur who is the co-founder and CEO of Shopify, an e-commerce company based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Lütke was born in Koblenz, Germany in 1981. He received a Schneider CPC (German brand of the Amstrad Colour Personal Computer distributed by the Schneider Rundfunkwerke AG) from his parents at the age of six. By 11 or 12, he began rewriting the code of the games he played and modifying computer hardware as a hobby. Lütke dropped out of school and entered an apprenticeship program at the Koblenzer Carl-Benz-School to become a computer programmer after tenth grade. He moved from Germany to Canada in 2002.
Reasons for posting the shady history of the Canadian based German run company Shopify and its Child Protege, owner Tobias Lutke will be cleared up soon.
