#But how the show and the fandom handled said flaws
Note
Hii i know im late but either kuron allura or lance for the ask game thingy you rbed like two days ago?
(i know i always pick these three but idk i just rlly like hearing your thoughts on them<3)
Yay!! I am so sorry this is late. Also heads up this gets long and really salty-
Kuron-
favorite thing about them- He's trying so much! He is not great at it and he was very much Doomed since the beginning and he lost every agency he never had to begin but my god he was Trying! He did not know he was a clone but he felt he that he isnt him and Haggar was still scouting in his head but he was still trying until he couldnt, my god i love him!!
least favorite thing about them- Other than the fact he fucking died??? Kuron babygirl please dont go behind your teams back and dont yell at people, i know you are Going Through It™ but still
favorite line- "Like i am not like myself" HAHAHAHA HAHA FUCKING KILL ME!!! orz
brOTP- Lance and Kuron relationship that lives in my head and has a special place in my heart, also Veronica and Kuron because i am too deep in That au i will make it a thing if only just for that au
OTP- Do i have to answer this one? I guess Kur.ance if you twist my arm but to be honest i still prefer it as platonic or qpr. I am not much of a shipper and he has aroace swag to me. Oh, also Kuron/getting to live as his own person aka the best ship ever
nOTP- I guess Kuron/Keith and Kuron/Lotor? Mostly because my rather uhhh negative opinions on Keith and utter disappointment with Lotor's character and annoyance with both of their stans
random headcanon- i have already talked about him being fan of reading but did you know he also writes sometimes? It is not *great* and almost all of them are wips because he is never sure how to end a story but he is trying
unpopular opinion- if i see one more "Kuron the evil mean clone" i will scream.
Other than- ok. You know how much i love him right? He is one of my favourites and i like him more than Shiro, you know that right? I need you to know and remember that when i say the next part.
Entire clone arc was just not needed. Like you could have had the same effect with Shiro being mind controlled and i personally feel it would have been better. Clone arc just overcomplicated an already messy plot, added even more elements and questions that went absolutely nowhere, left behind a shit load of plot holes, became the final nail in the coffin of Shiro having any possible arc or development, and added a new sympathetic character just to kill him off as a plot device.
And the entire "You are my brother Shiro, i love you" who is it for? Literally who is it for? It would have been much more heart wrenching if it was mind controlled Shiro but we clearly established that is not him. That guy is not Shiro, and Keith as i recall had like 3 on screen conversations with him, 2 of them being strained and then Keith just fucks off with the Blades for most of 3 seasons. It is not for Kuron cause narrative is insistent that he is ~evil~ tool and later on they use his body to get Shiro back. So like, who is it for? Other than to show how sad and angsty and great and amazing writers pet Keith is of course but that is the whole goddamn show.
Like i love him and he did not deserve any of That and i am going to keep making up aus where he lives but the entire pointlessness of clone arc angers me so much
song i associate with them- Being a basic bitch here but Control by Halsey
favorite picture of them-
Tumblr media
honestly every scene with him having long hair is just>>>
Allura-
favorite thing about them- Allura is just so genuinely kind, like she goes from one traumatic event after another and loses everything she had and she is rightfully angry and hurt and upset but she still remains kind and does everything so that others dont have to go through what she did and so she sacrifices what little she still had
least favorite thing about them- why is she fucking dead 🥺🥺? Girl wake up, also as much as i love her i am not forgiving her for entire using-Kuron's-body-to-bring-Shiro-back.
favorite line- "So how would you rate your bloodlust level from 1-5?" Let her be silly please!!!!
BrOTP- Allura and Shiro!! Also Allura and Hunk!!! And a number of interactions between Allura and Lance post s3 too!!
OTP- Free my girl hasnt she suffered enough?? (I do have soft spot for early season sha.llura moments and many allurnce moments)
nOTP- i guess l0tura and k@llura? For similar reasons as above
random headcanon- pre-Altea's destruction Allura was the most daredevil person ever. You could dare her to eat a ghost pepper and she'll do it just to prove she can
unpopular opinion- No longer saying 'the situation is much more nuanced' and 'she was traumatized, it is understandable' about the galra reverse racism bs and instead going she was 100% in the right actually. If this fandom can forgive Lotor for getting thousands of alteans murdered and straight up lying to the woman he says he loves about her own people and forgive Keith for abandoning his teammates and almost getting them all killed by claiming they were sad and traumatized than they can also forgive a black coded genocide survivor not liking a race that has been colonizing and murdering the entire universe for 10000 years including her own people
song i associate with them- Queen of Nothing by Crane Wives
favorite picture of them-

Look at her smile
Lance-
favorite thing about them- my boy?? My most favourite boy??? Literally everything?? Ok but seriously i have talked about this before but he is complex to me, i love there is so much duality in him he is someone who is kind would die for a person he met like 2 days ago and did not get along but also is just an absolute obnoxious cunt. He is an emotionally mature guy who understands his own feelings but also is just sooo douchey class clown. He wants to be a cool talented hero, he has the capacity to be that but he wants to be seen as one and in his attempts he ends up screwing himself over and comes out looking as anything but that<33!! And he is loyal and goofy and lovable i love him
least favorite thing about them- i would not have liked this fucker if i met irl specifically s1-s2 him at all. Also the fact they did not even give him an arc like why would you do this to him. Also his fanbase, i cant tolerate 70% of his fanbase and the fact that i still love him is a testimony of my love for him itself given i have hated characters and left fandoms for far less
favorite line- "You ever notice how far the planets are from each other, Coran?" Why did they have the goofball say shit like this if he was meant to be just a goofball
brOTP- Everyone <3, he deserves more friends but mostly Hunk, Kuron, and Allura
OTP- i like most Lance ships actually, though there is a specific han.ce au i have in my head that i adore
nOTP- *sighs* kl4nce. It's just sooo Everywhere, i go to Lance's tag and it is all this ship, nearly every s8 fix-it thinkpiece i have seen moans about how Lance was reduced to Allura's bf only to reduce him to Keith's bf and all of them yell about how the only problem with vld was that kl didnt become canon as if all the racism in the show doesnt even matter, and i am so goddamn tired of this like i cant even joke about Lance having terrible taste in men witjout someone bringing Keith up, and i dont hate the ship (and sometimes i even enjoy it) but i am done with this
Random headcanon- he can play violin pretty well! But he also hates playing violin
unpopular opinion- this is coming from someone who only likes and cares about Lance ships but i think he shouldnt have had a romance arc with anyone. I have said this before but he is so obsessed with keeping facades and the romance loverboy is one of those facades. At most he should have had like last one out of beach city episode from steven universe, where he gets a partner by just being himself instead of the flirty loverboy persona
song i associate with them- Top of the world by Greek fire

It’s such a shame fandom discussions often simplify the Southern Raiders to the point of stripping it of its depth because it’s genuinely among my favorite episodes of the show.
I feel that making this about a ship war doesn’t just insult every character involved (ESPECIALLY Katara) but it also greatly misinterprets the actual nuanced meaning of the episode.
This is not about “who understands Katara better Aang or Zuko?” It’s not even about who was “right”? Aang with his sometimes overly peaceful & forgiving ways or Zuko who is in some ways still in a mindset of rage & hate? Neither of them is 100% right or wrong. It’s about Katara & her grief & it’s about justice & personal decisions about how to handle our darkest feelings.
I love the contrasting ways that Sokka & Katara deal with their grief. Sokka remembers the flag of the enemy & the black snow but not his mother’s face. Katara remembers the eyes of the killer but I doubt she would recall those details a warrior & protector would need to make note of like Sokka does.
Katara telling Sokka that he must not have loved their mother the way she did…. It’s such a poignant moment. Have we not all said horrible things like that & maybe even almost meant them in the moments of our worst selves? It’s horrible but it’s real.
Sokka’s grief is the kind that it’s easy for others to dismiss especially someone like Katara who’s probably heartbroken at the idea that this isn’t as painful for Sokka as it is for her. And that’s just awful for Sokka who has trained himself to bury painful feelings & suppress his grief meaning he never gets the same level of empathy from those around them as Katara because her anger & sadness are louder & she wears her heart on her sleeve.
Katara’s bravery & her journey in Southern Raiders & her darker moments where we see her worst flaws - her tendency to react to her emotions in ways that sometimes hurt the people around her - her anger & the way she holds onto it - in connection to her greatest traits like her dedication to her heart & her determination to remain true to herself is such an encapsulation of why I love Katara.

Being the only human in the Devildom was hard. You always had to be on your guard around any demon that wasn't one of the brothers, Diavolo, or Barbatos because they were as likely to eat you as they were to give you directions to the library. Sure, there was Solomon but he was closer to a demon than a fellow human in many ways. He couldn't relate to your feelings of always having to be on edge and justifying your place in the exchange program. The marks all over his skin spoke for themselves in a way you couldn't. You couldn't even let up in front of your friends for fear they'd be disappointed in learning how much of a struggle it was for you to fit into their home. Holding yourself together all the time was exhausting.
That's why you came to him. He wasn't human, but you were sure he was the one person who would understand. After all, being an angel in a crowd of demons couldn't have been any easier. He was the only other person who understood what you needed. He was the only one who could help you through another strenuous week.
Your knuckles rapped against the door of Purgatory Hall as you anxiously waited for an answer. You had messaged him beforehand and he'd accepted you coming over, so you didn't know what you had to fret about, but you did. It felt like eons of standing there before the handle finally turned and the door creaked open.
The man you knew all too well was beautiful as he stood in the doorframe to welcome you in; skin soft and smooth with nary a flaw or imperfection in sight, eyes that shimmered like the sun off the surface of the calmest ocean, hair that very well may have been made of dyed silk, lips that were full and inviting even when pulled back into a smile to show off his luminous teeth, and that was just his face. That was nothing to say on his broad yet somehow still slim shoulders, the pectorals you could see straining against the fabric of his thin shirt, the long fingers, the subtle muscles rippling in his biceps, or his long delicate and dexterous fingers still wrapped around the handle.
It was unfair to only look at him, but you didn't come here to look and he knew that as much as you did. Surely that's why he was standing in front of you like this, trying to tempt you as much as possible.
"Hello there," Simeon said through his charming smile as he widened the door to let you slip inside.
You returned his greeting as you walked in.
It was strangely quiet as he shut the door behind you. You were actually surprised not to hear anything but the patting of his feet against the ground as he took your hand in his and started walking toward and up the stairs.
"Where is-"
"Gone," he answered before you could finish the question. "It's just us two. Sorry if you wanted to say hello to anyone else."
No. In fact, it was probably better that it was just you two. You didn't expect anything to get out of hand, but it meant you could fully let go without worry. That thought alone was already a relief.
"I believe we will have the entire night to ourselves. Maybe even all of tomorrow, though that's only a possibility." He stopped speaking as he came to the door of his room. "Would you like to come in?"
This was your last opportunity to turn away. You could go back downstairs and decide to have tea instead. You could stay the night on the living room couch or he could bring you back to the House of Lamentation if you didn't want to walk alone. He was offering you the chance to change your mind if you wanted, but you came here exactly for this reason. You were here to see beyond that door and you wouldn't be leaving until you did.
The room was dark, so dim it felt like it was lit by candles more than electricity. It felt old, almost too old for someone as young as Simeon, but then you recalled he was so much older than he seemed and it put everything into perspective. Maybe to him this decor felt new and modern. It was charming in its own way.
"Feel free to take a seat anywhere you'd like," he offered as he shut the door behind you and waited to see what you'd do next.
You opened and closed your fists a few times, taking a deep breath to let the anxiety flow out of your bones before deciding to move over to the loveseat. You wouldn't dare presume to head to his bed.
He showed no reaction on his face as he watched you sink into the cool, chocolate leather of his seating. "Would you care for a drink or something?"
You shook your head.
Simeon stepped closer to you. "Are you certain? I'd hate to be a bad host."
This time you nodded.
The seat beneath you sank as Simeon settled beside you. "Then what would you like to do?"
You turned your gaze to him. His bright eyes looked back at you with a subtle smile as he waited for you to make the first move, which you did by laying your head against his shoulder. The scent clinging faintly to his skin reminded you of freshly baked cinnamon rolls as they came out of the oven. Maybe it was the remnants of his last baking venture or maybe it was natural for him to smell so sweet and light; he always did have the faint scent of vanilla underneath everything else.
He rested his hand against your shoulder and somehow pulled you closer still, squishing your face against that broadly thin frame of his. “You’re stiff,” he observed with a chuckle. “You’re free to relax.”
Except you couldn’t. You had practiced maintaining yourself and holding your head high in front of others for so long that you couldn’t drop it that easily. Even in front of him who knew about carrying himself so others couldn’t tear him down, you were too trained to let the charade end. It was because of that that all you could do was continue to shake your head.
Then,” he cupped your cheek in his hand and pulled your face toward his, leaning closer to you, “I will help you relax.”
He was slow and meticulous as he pressed his lips against yours, starting almost hesitantly as he tested the waters of your defenses. Your body went rigid against him, but you didn’t push him away. This is what you wanted. This is why you were here. You wanted him to lead you to a place where you could finally let go. You weren’t fighting him on that front, simply waiting for him to drag you under the way he knew you wanted.
As he pressed more kisses against your mouth, his lips perfectly plush as they captured your upper one and began to deepen his affections. He snaked his hands under the hem of your shirt and let them roam higher up your body until they rested against your breasts. You could feel him pull up your bra and replace it with his hands, letting his thumbs tease at your nipples until they were standing and begging for his attention. Heat pooled beneath his hands, swirling around your chest as he stole your breath away.
He was, as far as the public was concerned, supposed to be a holy man. His desires were supposed to be as pure as he was, but you knew better. You knew he was only holy in the same way that you were holding yourself together. Beneath it all, you were both just liars fooling everyone around you except for each other, who wanted something only the other could give.
He broke away from the kiss. "It's not enough, is it?"
It was never enough. Not this time or the time before that or the time before that. Neither of you could be satiated by only this. Not until you could both let go of the masks you wore in front of everyone else.
"Then allow me to give you what you really crave," he whispered with his lips against yours.
The hands on your breasts abandoned their spot to slide down to your hips and lift you up just enough to slip you onto his lap, pressing your back against his chest and resting your knees on top of his. He gently placed his hand against your thigh.
Slowly, carefully, he began to lift the skirt that went just past your knees. You wore a skirt for this specific reason. Long and heavy so it wouldn't ride up when you didn't want it to, but loose and flowy so he could easily push it aside.
He rolled the fabric up to your stomach, purposefully dragging his fingers along the meat of your thigh the entire way before dropping the skirt edge and sinking his hand between your legs. A single finger ran down your slit lying just below the fabric of your boyshorts which he made an effort to move aside.
You spread your legs trying to make it easier for him to touch you, only for a jolt to pass through your cunt and up your spine as he slapped the flat of his hand against you. You opened your mouth to scream, only to find him slipping the middle and forefinger of his free hand into your mouth to muffle your noises.
He leaned his head over your shoulder, pressing his lips next to your ear as he quietly shushed you. "I know, Sweetheart. Shh, I know."
The sting was still fresh when he began to rub his hand over the spot he'd just hit. Slowly, the pain began to fade, giving way to a dull pleasure as he stroked you through the fabric of your boyshorts. You were sure he could feel the wet spot forming where the fabric stubbornly clung to your needy, neglected sex, but he said nothing about it.
"Stop thinking and allow yourself to let go. If you need to move, I'll do it for you." he said as he pulled away from your sex to snap his fingers.
A hazy vision filled your eyes like a vision. It was like walking in on a dream, cloudy at the edges and covered in a layer of mist. It wasn't a dream though, it was a memory; one in which you were on full display from the behind with your ass raised in the air, legs spread wide while your chest was pressed against the bed. In the vision, your pussy was dripping so much that it left your thighs coated in slick that shimmered in the dim light overhead.
"Don't they look happy?" Simeon whispered as his hand returned to slowly stroking the folds hiding just behind your underwear. "Showing off their body, hoping that someone will touch them?" His lips ghosted over the shell of your ear, holding back laughter as you shuddered in his lap. "You were so wet and ready for me, staying exactly the way I wanted you. An obedient little pet waiting for Master's attention. I can make you feel that way again. That is what you came here for, after all. Is it not?"
You tried to speak around his fingers, struggling to make the proper sounds with your mouth full. "Shime-"
"Shh," the sound slipped past his teeth as he pushed his fingers further back into your mouth, pressing them against the back of your throat. "Don't say anything. The only thing you have to do is what I say."
You wanted to melt against him, possibly even into him. Even as drool pooled around his fingers and dribbled out the sides of your mouth, you didn't feel embarrassed. No. All you felt was a blissful peace seeping into your mind. Muscles you hadn't even realized were tensed suddenly relaxed as he held you. You didn't have to hold on anymore. You could leave everything up to him.
He tenderly kissed your cheek as he felt you go limp for him, wishing he could sink you onto his cock just like this; so pliant and calm for him, but he knew you hadn't let go completely yet. He could still see a spark in your eyes just past the vision he was showing you, one that meant there were still too many thoughts in that pretty head of yours. But you had been good for now, so you deserved a reward.
The vision faded away as his hand finally slipped under the fabric of your boyshorts, two fingers dipping between your legs to graze against your sex. Slowly, he began to pet at your slit, following the line of your body as he held you in his lap. He pressed his fingers just past your pussy lips, dragging his finger through the growing slick between your legs.
He chuckled softly. "Aww, this precious place of yours is already so wet. Did you want me to touch you that badly?"
Mhm. You wanted him. You wanted to be good for him. His fingers were like sweet torture as he pushed them just past your pussy lips again to gather more of your essence to rub around your puffy clit in slow, confident circles.
"Good pet." He was so proud of you for remembering not to say a thing to answer him, but also a little disappointed. He wanted to hear you sing for him because you couldn't hold back anymore. You were cute following his orders, but you would be even cuter once your brain turned off and you couldn't even understand them.
He almost felt bad when he slapped your pussy again just so he could hear you whine for him, but that feeling quickly passed when your pretty voice was drowned out around his fingers. Oh, he was enjoying you more than he should be, but that's what you both were here for.
He pumped the fingers in your mouth, pressing down on your tongue and enjoying the sound of you gagging around them. It was just like how he knew you loved your cunt played with and he knew you recognized it as soon as your clit throbbed under his other hand. Your nipples poked through the fabric of your top and he couldn't help but chuckle at how cute you were. If only he had more hands to focus on every beautiful part of your body.
As soon as your legs started to tremble, he knew just how close you were. You were such a good thing. So willing and pliant.
He slipped his fingers out of your mouth and wrapped them around your neck, tilting back your head while his other fingers violently rubbed your clit. "Tell me: what are you?"
You knew you were looking at him, but you couldn't focus on anything. Every nerve in your body was focused solely on how tight your stomach felt. Still, you knew he told you to speak. "Huh…"
Another jolt of pain as he slapped your aching clit again before going back to rubbing it. "What are you? You know the answer."
You were so close. The knot in your stomach was being pulled tighter and tighter and soon you knew it would snap. "Cum. Wanna cu- Augh!" You screamed as he slapped you again between his assault on your poor clit.
"Not until you answer the question." His hand gently squeezed your neck. "What are you? What have you always been?"
"Y-yours," the words fell heavy off your lips.
"My what?" He pressed harder at the sensitive bundle of nerves as his speed picked up. "Say it."
Your eyes rolled in the back of your head as your legs began to twitch, desperately trying not cum until he told you to. "Your pet. All yours."
"My dumb little pet." A smile crossed Simeon's face as he laid a kiss on your temple. "Cum for me."
As soon as the words were out of his mouth, your body let go. The knot inside of you snapped completely as you slapped your legs closed around his hand and came to the fingers that refused to stop teasing your clit even as you erupted beneath them. The little shocks and shudders that rolled through you painted the loveliest picture for him. It was truly divine to watch you do as told, especially with something as rebellious and difficult to tame as an orgasm. Yet, if you thought that was all he had in store for you, you were naive at best and willfully ignorant at worst. He could work with either.
He didn't give you time to rest before shoving the same fingers that had just been rubbing your swollen clit straight into your cunt. It didn't matter how tight your walls were, they slid in so easily.
Fuck, you were soaked. The squelching sound of his fingers pistoning in and out of your wet heat was so lewd that it made his cock stir against your ass. The hand still around your neck squeezed gently and your cunt clenched down on his fingers.
Every scrape against your insides made you gasp and whine. Your last orgasm was still fresh and you were so sensitive. Die. You were going to die. He was going to drown you in pleasure until it fried your brain and there was nothing left of you.
You grabbed at his wrist, trying to hold onto him and stop him from touching you, only to feel him push another finger inside with a small tsk.
"None of that now." His voice washed over you like cool water. "You were so good for me. You deserve this. Good pets deserve to be spoiled and feel good."
You felt your body relaxing, muscles untensing as you listened to his words. No, it wasn't you relaxing. It was him relaxing you.
"Isn't that so much easier?" His voice was echoing in your head, distracting you as his hand slipped out of you – something that made you whine without realizing it – and quickly moved to pull your underwear down your legs and drop them onto the floor before returning to their original position.
Simeon placed his lips against the back of your neck, ghosting them over your shoulders and sucking at your skin until he left a mark. All the while his fingers moved in and out of you, starting shallow and slowly going deeper and deeper.
The hand still around your throat finally let go and moved down your sternum, trailing feather light touches across your skin until he found one of your hard nipples and gave it a tentative pinch. He couldn't help but think that the surprised squeak you made was too cute, but he would rather hear something else instead. Something like your screams. How far could he go until you couldn’t hold them back anymore?
"Don't stop now," he said as his fingers assaulted you in the most delicious of ways. The one against your chest rolled your nipple, tugging at it as he slowly added more fingers inside of you and thumbed at your clit. "I want to watch my good pet cum their stupid little brain out "
"I ca- Ahhh!" You tried to speak, but we're cut off by another orgasm chasing the previous so quickly.
"Shhh. Don't talk. Just cum." That was all he wanted of you; to cum until you couldn't anymore and then keep cumming because he told you to.
He curled his fingers inside of you, pressing them against a tender spot that had you collapsing against him. Your entire body went limp against him, shaking from climax after climax as he forcefully pulled them out of you; pulled them out of your aching, needy cunt.
Simeon was up to three fingers by the time he finally decided he was done, pulling his fingers out of you at last and stopping the endless orgasms and giving you the chance to rest. You never knew cumming could hurt so much. You realized your respite was brief, however, as you felt him awkwardly fidgeting with his pants to fish out his hard cock.
"You're staring," he teased with a whisper in your ear.
You couldn't help it. It looked angry; the veins popping out and the tip already leaking. Just seeing it made you moan for him, like your body knew you were meant to wrap it up and make him feel good. If you were going to die, at least it would be in service to his cock.
While he appreciated the lust painted across your face, it wasn't enough. He wanted you to fall even lower. He wanted you to reduce yourself to nothing.
He grabbed your hips, pushing your lower body forward so he could rub your cunt against his erection. The glistening trail of slick painted across his cock wherever you touched was beautiful. Your legs trembled each time the head of his cock bumped against your sensitive, overly abused clit.
"Do you enjoy this?" His voice was so melodious and sweet as he spoke. It felt like you would get lost in it. "You can do the work yourself, can't you? Press your thighs together and help us both feel good."
You couldn't nod. It was too hard to even understand the words coming out of his mouth.
He chuckled darkly, moving his hands to push your thighs tight around his rock hard length. "Like this. Move your hips like a good pet."
Every muscle in your body felt heavy, but you couldn't help but do what he demanded of you. You curled your heels against the edge of the couch, pushing down on them so you could lift your hips to grind against him. Your legs wrapping around his cock kept him in place while your slick folds rubbed him from tip to base.
"Just like that," he mumbled softly in your ear as he watched you glide over his full length. "Make yourself cum again just like that."
Oh, he wanted to cum too. Wanted to see your thighs painted white with every terrible impulse you inspired in him. Holding back so you could ruin yourself on him before he completely tainted you was his own kind of punishment. Feeling your pussy flutter against his shaft, hearing you cry out in another orgasm, seeing your eyes glazed over as more thoughts poured out of you, all of it snapped the last of his patience.
You couldn't keep going. Your legs were tired, your voice was hoarse, you were pretty sure your brain was melting out of your ear. That didn’t matter though. All that mattered was that you were still there, ready to accept whatever he had planned for you regardless of how you felt about it. Knowing that, he finally repositioned himself and pushed his cock head inside of you, feeling how your walls loosened to welcome him in but still squeezed him like you didn't want to let go.
"Aww, are you getting tired?" He condescended with a smile in his voice. "I would be happy to help you rest."
He wrapped his hands under your knees, letting you lean back against his chest for balance as he stood up and lifted you into the air. He was careful to keep you impaled on his cock as he walked with you toward the bed where he tossed you onto it facedown, ass sticking straight in the air where he took his place over you.
The sudden gasp you made as you hit the mattress was accentuated by your walls pulsing around him. Even as nothing more than a warm hole seeking the satisfaction of orgasm after orgasm at his hands, you insisted on seducing him.
"Even after all of that," he taunted as he thrust the rest of himself into you, bottoming out in one stroke that made you scream like a porn star, "you have such a tight, wet cunt. It's like you were begging for a cock to finally stretch you open. Did you want me inside of you that badly?”
His question was accentuated by the sound of your pussy gushing and your adorable panting as he began to pump into you. Each time he hit the back of your cunt you made the cutest squeak in surprise, as if you forgot just how deeply he was carving you out. You were so adorable taking his cock, your tits bouncing each time he thrust forward, your mouth hanging open with your tongue lolling out of your mouth.
"You're more of a slut than a pet." That's what your expression reminded him of. You had no shame left inside of you to be embarrassed by the state you were in and it made his cock twitch. "Would you like that? Being my dumb little cock addicted slut instead of my spoiled pet?"
You couldn't answer him, nor did he expect you to. However, he was pleased when your cunt convulsed around him and you gasped so sweetly.
"Did you cum? No one told you that you could," he chastised in a mocking tone, "buuuut I'll forgive you this time because sluts like you don't know better. Just make sure you listen to me now. I'll tell you when you're allowed to do that."
And he did. Over and over again your walls spasmed around him as you came at his command. Somewhere between the endless assault of pleasure and the sensation of his cock pounding you so thoroughly it felt like he was shaping your insides. Your body started to follow his directions and began to cum when he ordered you to because it was only him that could make you feel so good
"Again, slut," he said. "Cum for me." And you had no choice but to. You had no choice but to clench down on his length and curve your spine as another orgasm ripped through your exhausted body.
He was going to kill you. He was going to murder you with his cock and you would happily die cumming for him.
"Once more." Simeon couldn't help but laugh as he watched the light leave your eyes and your mouth twist into a smile as you came for him yet again despite having just done it only seconds earlier. "Aww, did I break that dumb brain of yours?"
The only answer he got was your pussy clenching down around him again.
"There you go," he cooed as he weaved his fingers between yours. "Such a good slut, cumming all over my cock. You're so adorable." His hips smacked against yours, rhythm growing erratic as he looked down into your hazy, unfocused eyes.
"Come on," he panted, "stay nice and tight for me so I can fill up your slutty cunt." His hands gripped yours tighter. "Such a dumb slut. A good, braindead, cock addicted whore."
There was no warning as he pushed into you one last time, shooting burning hot ropes of cum as deep inside of you as he could. Your body accepted it all willingly. You were born to accept it all, everything he had to give you no matter what it was.
As he started to pull out, you groaned and whimpered at the sensation of his cock dragging against your overly sensitive walls. You were practically screaming as his length finally popped out of your twitching, pulsing, overstimulated pussy. You couldn't take anymore of him. If he fucked you again – made you cum anymore – you wouldn't just die, you would break completely.
"Shhh," he whispered as he kissed the side of your face. "No giving up on me now. You did such a good job milking my cock, but you're not done yet."
Simeon sat up from over you, moving to lean his back flush against the headboard, knees bent up and spread apart as he manhandled your exhausted body and yanked at your hair to pull your head into his lap, pressing your face against his softening, glistening cock. "You made a mess so hurry and clean it up."
You opened your mouth without protest, tongue rolling out to lap at his length. Somewhere deep in the back of your mind you recognized the taste of yourself and how good it was mixed with his, but it felt less important than serving the cock he shoved in front of you.
"You can do better than that," he said as he cupped his hand under your chin, pinching at your jaw to force your mouth open and place the smooth, slightly salty head of his cock inside.
You began to mindlessly suckle at the cock he presented to you. He almost felt bad for using you past exhaustion, but one look at the content expression on your face and the blank look in your eyes pushed that guilt aside.
You laid motionless against him as his cum seeped out of your lovingly abused pussy and remnants of your own slick that you'd licked off his cock clung to your lips. It was cute how you couldn't hold it all in, making a mess of his carefully laid bedsheets below.
"Good pet."
Simeon took his hand out of your hair, switching to brushing it over your cheek. There was a burning heat spreading across your skin that sent a flutter through his stomach. You were so beautiful. Completely mindless and beautiful and tired, and it was time to finally let you rest. Maybe later he would take advantage of the fact that you two had the entirety of Purgatory Hall to yourselves. Later, after he had his fill of admiring the stupidly happy, blank look on your face and the warmth of your mouth.

The assertions that Dany will "succumb" to her family's allegedly "evil legacy" or the "taint" in her blood require pathologizing her for being an abuse victim borne of rape and incest, buying into bioessentialist "genetics is destiny" argument, and decontextualizing most of the passages from her book arc. This post, with a song juxtaposed with out-of-context quotes from Dany's chapters, is an excellent example.
"Every child knows the Targaryens have always danced too close to madness." The only "mad" Targaryens were Rhaegel, Aerion, Aerys II, and Viserys III. If you want to stretch it, you can include Baelor, though he was more pious and fanatic than mad. Maegor was cruel but lucid. Rhaegar was not mad, despite being Aerys II's son. And the narrative has distanced Dany from Aerys II several times, because one of ASOIAF's central theses is not "you are your father's child," but "you can overcome your father."
"She could not look behind her, must not look behind her" is not Dany "refusing to look at her family's history." This is taken from her fever dreams in AGOT Dany IX, and what she can't look back at is an icy breath that would cause her a "death worse than death, howling forever alone in the darkness." It's the first time Dany sees the Others in her dreams, and she is the only other character in AGOT to dream of them, the other character being Bran.
"I made a horror just as great, but surely they deserved it. Harsh justice is still justice." This is Dany feeling guilty for crucifying 163 slavers. How is that a sign of madness or refusal to confront her family legacy? It's actually a sign that Dany has empathy even for the worst of humanity, even for her enemies. Also, crucifying slavers isn't evil. It's odd that the same fandom that calls Dany a slaver, slave trader, slave profiteer, and slavery enabler, also calls her a tyrant or mad for crucifying slavers. What is she supposed to do with slavers? What is the "proper" way to handle them?
The mother of monsters passage is more proof that Dany is introspective and self-critical. In children's media, shounen anime, and Marvel movies, a villain may unironically call themselves a monster, but in more complicated, nuanced, adult literature, characters who call themselves monsters usually aren't bad people. They're the self-deprecating, humble, and thoughtful characters who are reflecting on their flaws and mistakes. Again, if Dany is someone who refuses to think about the dark side of her family, she would not agonize over the consequences of using her power. Monstrosity is associated with being stigmatized, ostracized, and alienated by hegemonic forces in society, and those characters who identify with monstrosity often have something to reveal about the violence of the status quo and the normalization of oppression.
George is deconstructing the coin quote, not reinforcing it. Madness/greatness, ice/fire, east/west, north/south, sun/moon, pain/pleasure, love/hate, are all dichotomies in the novel that George sets out to show can unite in some way. As I said, most Targaryens were not "mad," and I find it odd that for a fandom as progressive as it frames itself to be, the ableist stereotyping of "foreign otherized race from the East is genetically predisposed toward madness" isn't something fans problematize more.
Dany longing for the house with the red door and wanting to rest, laugh, plant trees and see them grow, are also seen as signs of madness because of her statelessness and homelessness. If a teenage girl has been raped and abused, and is herself a product of rape and abuse, and comes from an exotic Eastern family, then apparently her longing for home is actually a bomb waiting to detonate inside her, because she's unfit to belong anywhere. It's shocking that this mentality is seen as media literate or subversive.
"Dragons plant no trees" has already been disproven by Dany's arc itself. Dany reclaims fire and blood by the end of ADWD because she realizes the peace in Meereen is false (which it is). Jon Snow goes from wanting to hire glassblowing apprentices to plant crops in greenhouses to grow food, to abandoning his vows and declaring war to save his sister, and then dies. Why is that not seen as a sign of "succumbing to madness?" The acts are narratively paralleled. Perhaps––and this may be crazy, but stay with me––the thesis of FeastDance is that you cannot grow, build, and heal a nation in soil watered with blood. No such rebuilding or regrowing is possible unless and until real change occurs, and for real change to happen, the corrupt old guard cannot stay alive.
Certainly TWOW will be a darker book for every viewpoint character, but it's interesting to see how a combination of pathologizing Dany for her gender, ethnicity, genes/biology, trauma, and stateless/rootless/homeless status as an exile/diaspora, with decontextualizing her chapters, quotes, and passages, and an overall misunderstanding of the themes of ASOIAF, to single Dany out as a "dark" character who won't be able to "outrun" her "negative family history."

This situation with Noah isn't a new problem in the fandom. These fans have been harassing everyone for months in them name of progressive causes they aren't well-informed about. This is obviously not specific to the Stranger Things fandom. Go anywhere online and you will likely see a bunch of teens screaming about something even though they clearly skipped the step of educating themselves. Not only have I been the target of the dumbest shit, but so many other people have too. No one can post here without someone getting self-righteous and yelling about it. I have been accused of the following simply for posting something to my own blog: - I've been called misogynistic because I said El wasn't the main character. A thing the writers have said several times now (it's Will). The writers aren't misogynistic either. - I've been called misogynistic because I said El has character flaws like everyone else. - I've been called a condescending bitch when I politely tried to explain what misogyny actually is. A thing you'd think they'd be interested in learning if they actually cared about that cause (clearly they don't or I wouldn't have been called a bitch so much). - Been called racist because I said Hopper wasn't copaganda, even though I explained clearly why I thought this was. - Got called racist because I pointed out that Lucas was often filling his Ranger role and that's why he is helping Mike in S3 (the boys all play their D&D characters). But the trendy thing to say at the time was that he was being written in racist way so obviously this means I'm racist too. - Had multiple people say I was silencing them when I wrote my own damn post (not a response to theirs) about many of the above topics. I just simply disagreed with their points and that isn't allowed here. - Had someone I never interacted with spread a rumor that I sent them anonymous hate filled asks even though I had no fucking clue who they were. And those posts were anonymous so they have no idea who actually sent them. They just wanted my attention. But I never sent anyone an anon ask before anyway so this was just bizarre. But a several people believed it. - Pretty much every adult on here has been accused of pedophilia for watching a show with kids on it. This gets pretty relentless sometimes. I'm sure I could think of several others and other people have had a lot as well. The thing about this as someone who has actually experienced things like misogyny first hand is that being called this is incredibly upsetting, especially when you are being called this by someone who doesn't know what they are talking about and doesn't care about the impact of these words. They just want you to shut up and stop telling them they did something wrong.
This is all happening because they are watching a show that is overwhelming them and they can't deal with people discussing it in a more nuanced way than they are. This wouldn't be happening if there were more adults here to drown it out. But as it is, no one can actually discuss this show and it has nothing to do with Noah. It's because kids are watching when they shouldn't. And they have weird, boundaries with the fandom and the cast that are constantly causing problems. This didn't happen back in the first 2 seasons because it was only adults watching. I'm not saying adults can't be problematic too, but most of this shit is from people who are way too young to handle this. And now we are all getting lectured by 14 year old foreign policy experts. It's not ok and they need to spend a lot of time learning about how to interact with people online better. This isn't the shows fault. But they can make it clear who this is actually for. Because these kids are going to throw a fit over everything. They always do. They aren't going to like S5 either. They are only watching because it's cool and they have FOMO. They can't understand it and are constantly insulting it and everyone associated with it and the fandom. Seriously, amp up the horror. Make it rated R. A lot of us would really love to be able to discuss this show and can't because of how awful it is here.

Hi! I love your Hannibal meta and it's such a joy to see you back. The ask about IWTV reminds me, would there be any chance that you might write the Good Omens meta you said you wouldn't do a few months back XD? Or some hints about what you were interested in talking about? I feel S2 added a bit more depth to the characters that hasn't been discussed enough (or I haven't delved into that fandom enough to see) and the Job story did get a tiny bit Hannibal-y with the god questioning and temptation
Thank you! Glad to be back.
No, I'm not qualified to write Good Omens meta. xD But I can give you ONE piece, the sum of my opinion, which is that the commentary about the finale (what I saw of it, at least) made the common fandom mistake of viewing the characters' actions through the ship instead of through the individual characters' personalities and values. They talk about Aziraphale not being ready for an overt relationship, or just frankly condemning him for his betrayal, or that both of them do not have good relationship skills, or the Metatron's manipulations, or idk, something about the coffee being drugged?
But while all these things are important (maybe not the coffee, idk what's up with that), the real issue that I haven't seen talked about is faith. (Not that I've researched it, so my apologies if this is all going to be not new because someone else covered it extensively, and I'm just not in the fandom so I didn't know.)
And not in faith each other but in God, or more specifically, in God's righteousness.
That's the purpose of the Job story in the narrative, to illustrate that difference in their worldviews. Aziraphale has come to the understanding that Heaven is operating in its own interests, but he still believes in God's goodness. Crowley...doesn't.
That's why Crowley can't go with him because that lack of faith means he doesn't believe that Aziraphale (or even the two of them together, if he were an angel again) could possibly set something right that has no righteousness at its core, while Aziraphale must go to right Heaven because what has been happening there is an abomination of God's goodness in his eyes.
Aziraphale was wrong when he thought that Crowley would take the Metatron's olive branch, but his error is so enormous because he can't wrap his head around how to Crowley, Heaven's iniquity is just a symptom of God's own, which Aziraphale just cannot accept. So he chooses to see it as a flaw in Crowley, instead of recognizing that Crowley's moral backbone is (apparently) greater even than God's.
So what Aziraphale is forgiving Crowley for is not the awkward kiss or anything he did wrong in their relationship. He's forgiving him for his lack of faith. And Aziraphale must go, he has to make Heaven worthy of regaining Crowley's faith, and he has to prove that God is worthy of Crowley's faith as well. He's got to save them all: he has to rescue Heaven from its iniquity, God and goodness and the world itself from the grip of Heaven, and, more than anything, he has to save Crowley from his unbelief, from living in that outer darkness that Aziraphale is really starting to see for the first time.
If Aziraphale can just do these miniscule few teensy tinesy itty bitty wee things, then Everything Will Be Okay.
How this will go in S3 --whether Aziraphale falls and Crowley rises, or something else--is going to be largely dependent on how the show decides to handle God's character. Whatever the powers of Heaven and Hell believe on this show, God Herself seems to be a Deist. She was notably absent in S2, and in S1 She was definitely treating creation like a spectator sport. I think the show is going to have to finally answer the question of whether or not the angels and demons are all carrying out God's Ineffable Plan through following it, or through failing to follow it. The fortunate fall, on a celestial scale, perhaps.
As that is revealed, just how benevolent God is should also be revealed, and I imagine that could have some significant bearing on how the Ineffable Husbands' relationship resolves. They're setting poor Aziraphale up for his own crisis of faith, ofc, and Crowley more than anyone knows just how that outer darkness feels. But they're also setting Aziraphale up to understand that the belief in goodness that he misplaced with God is a belief in goodness he can safely place with Crowley instead.

The only reason people say Lloyd was maltreated is because OG Lloyd suffers from “Draco in Leather Pants”, where a character with major negative flaws has those flaws massively downplayed. Along with any evil actions or rude behaviour they committed ignored or retroactively justified as them being the actions of a “victim” who is lashing out, despite all evidence to the contrary. This mostly done so that the fandom can have a new “Woobie”, a character who makes you feel extremely sorry for them, to write angst about
On the other hand, Arcos suffers from “Ron the Death Eater” syndrome. Where fandom decides to take a good character who committed a few mistakes in the past, exaggerating that characters’s small negative flaws or mistakes to massive proportions. Or even assigning evil acts to the character that the character never committed. This way people can have convenient antagonist who hurt the “Woobie” in the past or continues to do so, thus making the “Woobie” the victim in the scenario.
These are all symptoms of people wanting to make more “Whump” fanfic. Whump fanfic is fanfic where a character undergoes various different forms physical and mental suffering. These insubstantial takes on the characters in order to create “Whump” completely ignore other avenues rife with potential “Whump”, ones that are even supported by the source material.
Such as Kim Suho constant struggles with the fact that even though he now has the life he always wanted, being free from debt, in a safe financial positions, and being surrounded by a loving family, he has to contend with the fact they aren’t’t his. He has to handle the guilt he feels when interacting with Arcos and Marbella due to the belief that they don’t know that he not there son. That he effectively stolen another person’s life, though through no fault of his own, and has now undeservedly gained that person’s parents.
Then there is Julian, who suffered plenty of abuse from his brother over the years growing up, both vocal and physical. As evidenced by the scar on his forehead that was caused by glass from a beer bottle his brother threw at him. There is also the physical and vocal abuse he suffered from other nobles at the academy before Kim Suho showed up and set everyone straight. Yet not nearly as many people seem to be interested in delving to how being on the receiving end of that kind of abuse for years would affect him
In short,
Reader: “I want Whump”
Actual Story: “We have Whump at home”
love the use of tropes in this ask, you're speaking my language now
and yeah, you're right, i just,,, i find it confusing. ofc everyone is allowed to do whatever they want, canon is a suggestion and all of that but like,, i don't know. i find it weird.
it almost feels like they're trying to justify og lloyd's abuse of julian by accusing arcos of bad parenting. but 1) they do it by exaggerating some genuine mistakes he made, 2) ignoring the context surrounding the situation and 3) just fucking lying about it????
not to mention, that even if arcos had been a genuinely bad father (which he was not), that would still not justify what og lloyd did to julian! negligence doesn't justify abuse! even if the fronteras hadn't given lloyd enough positive attention (which there isn't any evidence to assume this), that would still not justify og lloyd lashing out and constantly hurting the people around him, including his younger brother.
if people want whump, just like you said, there's plenty in canon already. lloyd, julian, and javier all have their own trauma to work through, some of it caused by og lloyd himself. heck if you want that very specific 'negligent and distant father' flavor of whump, sheherazade is right there. bk moon does a great job at giving us plenty of character with a lot of baggage and trauma, there's enough to pick and choose without needing to resort to headcanons that go directly against canon lmao
but again, i'm not fond of the whole 'you're only allowed to like a character while acknowledging every bad thing they've ever done' thing, because it's bullshit and also i love me some war criminals here and there, so do whatever you want forever i'm no one to say you can't do something lol

I’m eating up all of your Komaeda and Hinata analyses, they’re just so clear and detailed! This might just be my bias, but I’m wondering about your perspective on komahina gradually (hopefully) healing together. I feel like the majority of the fandom mostly focuses on how Hinata would help Komaeda, probably because it seems the more obvious and Komaeda’s worldview is the more obviously skewed. But I feel like Komaeda also has the potential to, at least to an extent, help Hinata heal from his experiences. I don’t doubt that Hinata learned something from the simulation, but he also has a flawed perception of talent and a very low self worth, and I bet it wouldn’t go away overnight. Of course, this comes with the assumption that they would get along again post SDR2, which could be another thing to analyze for sure. Let me know what you think!
Ah I’m flustered again with your kind words! Thank you, I try my best to make sure my point is well explained with backed up reasoning since I tend to suffer intellectually when people don’t do that themselves. Especially when it’s a claim that has no backing but everyone takes at face value *grumble* *grumble*. It doesn’t have to be confirmed canon to be a creditable analysis, a good analyzer doesn’t need to rely on the creator’s every word, but it also can’t just contradict canon itself (unless, if you’re dr3, you contradict canon already and so it’s expected to discard it as creditable). Death of the author doesn’t work like that and it just comes off arrogant, you’re supposed to be working with canon Jesus Christ. Unless it’s a very specific situation where the creator is just garbage at handling their own work, I don’t think anyone deserves that right.
Oops sorry I went off into a tangent. I’m getting a little pissed at what people think is an analysis at all.
Now, with them healing post-game… you’re gonna have to stick with me because this is a lot to speak about. We all want them to be happy together as fellow Komahina shippers do haha, so it’s not you alone that has this bias, but it’s not going to be as quick and easy as the anime shows it to be.
To start, it’s sweet that people do think Hajime can help Komaeda because he can, but they’re going in the wrong direction with this. Hajime is not his nurse, therapist, or at his personal beck and call. Everyone on the island is healing, not just Komaeda. They’re both adults and he doesn’t need to nanny him. Komaeda most likely is going to need more attention medically considering his already poor health and the severed hand of Junko, but mentally? Everyone is pretty much going through some version of mental instability.
Now that’s out of the way, you’re right. People do focus on how Hajime can help him over how Komaeda can help him because it’s more obvious to us. We’re all (hopefully) aware that Hajime had the most positive/impactful influence out of anyone in the cast because of his way of somehow worming into Komaeda’s heart due to their “special bond” and put on a different, more personal level compared to the ultimates. The fact that Hajime proves against what he’s believed in just by being Hajime also works in the favor that Hajime would be the most helpful for him to grow closer with.
I’m glad you brought it up because Komaeda would definitely be as much help to Hajime. A lot of fans have a bad habit of thinking Hajime is much more stable than the rest of the cast and has solutions to everything, when Hajime is also growing with them. Komaeda is deceptively perceptive in how he interacts with Hajime in game. It feels rude when he does target his thoughts toward Hajime and gives his own insight on Hajime’s own person, but he’s never wrong about him when you look back at what’s being said.
When he went on that tangent after finding out what was in Hajime’s file in chapter 4, it was uncalled for to dump that all onto a person at once, but none of what he said about Hajime was wrong. All of it that he said about Hajime admiring hopes peak and what Hajime thought he could be by attending, none of it was objectively wrong. To defend Komaeda in this instance though, he wasn’t being mean on purpose, he was spelling out his own thoughts after being hit with the worst news ever.
However, even in the FTEs when he brings up how similar they are and him being a “miserable bystander” like himself, Hajime always rejects him and by proxy rejects himself. He rejects the part of himself that’s clearly seen in Komaeda at every instance because it’s inconvenient to recognize. Now though, he needs to recognize this if he’s going to accept himself and do what he promised to do outside of the simulation.
To reject Komaeda is to reject himself, that’s why I think it’d benefit both of them to heal with each other and in my wishful thinking, become closer. Another tidbit, as unnerving as Komaeda can be, Komaeda’s uplifting words do clearly make Hajime feel better, especially in chapter 1, and is hurt when he’s the target of distrust or ridicule by Komaeda even after their relationship becomes rocky (oh Hajime, he doesn’t mean it like that). Komaeda is not in the greatest position to help anyone, but these two points would partly help Hajime the most.
To get anywhere near that type of intimacy to let another person get that close to your whole being, especially in their situation, it’s uh. I’m already wincing imagining it play out. Again, It’s glossed over how much work it’s going to take in general for them to heal as a group, but god a relationship like theirs? The only thing I can say is yikes!
Contrary to popular opinion (or unpopular considering what side of the fandom you’re on), it’s not Hajime that’s going to put the most obstacles and barriers between them, it’s Komaeda. Hajime is already on the path of self-reflection and growth, so while for him it’s going to be nerve wracking to try and connect with again, it’s not going to be impossible for him. He already went out of his way to try and understand Komaeda when he’s able to in-game, even after all that Komaeda had did considering his attitude towards listening to his final words when you interact with his cottage after trial 5. It doesn’t make his feelings any less complicated or any less harder for him to confront Komaeda, but he’s going to be more willing in comparison. Komaeda’s side of this is where the real mess starts.
Geez, where do I begin? For one, he’s not gonna be typical Komaeda the way the anime tricks you he’d be. I don’t think he’d be angry at anyone in particular after waking up and finding out everyone is alive. He never was angry at them in the first place, he just stopped idolizing them and did what he thought was right due to his anger at what they decided to become. Questionable I know, but that’s how Komaeda is. Instead, I think Komaeda would just be more lost than he already was, more so after finding out what happened after he “died” and their decision to move forward.
He already keeps to himself, but I think he’d do it more so. I’m not sure he’d know what to say to any of them anymore besides his honest thoughts, which never goes well. He could go back to praising their talents, but for what? Their potential Hope when they’ve already plagued the world with the despair using their talents? What a joke. Again, he can’t easily just let go of what’s essentially his lifeline so that behavior would probably be reserved for people like Naegi or Kirigiri.
Eventually him and Hajime are gonna talk and it’s not going to be pretty. Im sure you can imagine it. This isn’t me saying they don’t have that potential to reconnect because if you remember correctly, he quite literally only apologizes to Hajime in his final message and to his own confusion, says he still cares for him even after what he found out. It’ll just take way longer than just a couple months. It’s not going to be as smooth as it could be, but they’ll try.
Other than that, the only thing to really address is the can of worms that is romantic possibilities. He’s able to truly call him a friend when grown close enough to each other and does show visible improvement in this closeness in stuff like utdp/DrS or Island Mode, but that was already hard enough as it is for Komaeda. I’m not gonna deny that Komahina is “one-sided” in all technical meaning, but not in the way it’s usually used by others. It being one sided means nothing toward Hajime’s general feelings for Komaeda. He still cares about Komaeda regardless of other feelings, but one-sided shouldn’t mean that their relationship stays stagnant?? People use it as if it’s a gatcha to Komahina shippers, which is hilarious.
I don’t like using one sided to describe their relationship as it now has this connotation that Hajime is never going to love him back, and pretty much is an oversimplification of what’s actually preventing him from gaining feelings as well. One-sided is too jarring for me to place on their too complicated mess of a relationship. Kaimaki is one-sided in that I can’t see Kaito responding to her feelings the same way, but somehow they’re suddenly more possible because it’s heterosexual. Too stupid.
Romance should not be important in the healing stage and would probably make things more messy, putting too much importance in romance devalues their relationship to only their ship. Komahina antis are much more guilty of this than the shippers, but it’s a problem I’ve seen with both. If you were to really ask me if Hajime would ever love Komaeda the way Komaeda loves him, then that’s really up to how close Komaeda lets him understand and empathize with him. That’s the only real obstacle here and not one people address well enough.
Hajime could definitely love him otherwise if given the opportunity, but it would destroy Komaeda to let him in that close for him to disappear from his life because of his luck. Issues are complex. Anyway, I hope I answered satisfactory! I could’ve said more, but I’d like to hold those thoughts for another post and I would like to stay on topic believe it or not.

Why is Tolkien so charitable regarding Frodo's missteps? After all, Tolkien conveniently and entirely blames all of Frodo's missteps regarding his handling of the ring on the ring itself.  "I do not think Frodo's was a moral failure. At the last moment the pressure of the Ring would reach its maximum -- impossible, I should have said, for anyone to resist."- JRR Tolkien. One can't imagine him saying anything remotely like this about the others who tried to take the ring. It's only Frodo's actions that Tolkien excuses by saying that anyone in Frodo's position would have done the same thing.
Hi there! Not sure if this comes from dislike of the character or just Tolkien’s handling, but if it’s the former I know I have characters I wouldn’t want someone to push me to like so I for sure will be surprised but respectful if Frodo is a character you don’t enjoy. Having people try to change your mind can be exhausting and annoying lol, so this’ll focus on just how I take things in the story personally! I am by no means a huge Tolkien scholar, but here’s how I take that situation with the ring and some evidence for the points as I at least see them (with some general agreement from other fandom and analysis discussions and conventions with other LoTR fans as well!). Hope this is at least an interesting read and I’m pretty darn flattered you chose me to ask this to ☺️
1. The ring bears a heavy weight (literally) on everyone’s decisions interacting with it, but I’ve always taken the story and Tolkien’s words on it as a bit of commentary on the folly of man, and as a religious person the concept of original sin. I.E. that we as humans (men, hobbits, dwarves, and even elves included in this setting) are simply not perfect and cannot be. Part of that evidenced in quotes like that from Tolkien himself but also scenes where even characters seen as beacons of good, strength, wisdom, morals, etc. do show temptation by the ring or that it would turn good intentions to evil. Galadriel and Gandalf, for example, are some of the most powerful beings and they tell Frodo that they would become corrupt and misuse the power they already have and that of the ring. Boromir as a character shows this too, because he is held overall pretty blameless too despite doing a bad thing. I love Boromir personally but nearly every fan on here I interact with does too and many discussions are had around his desperation, his life experiences up to the point of the fellowship’s travels, and how we all believe him to be a good man that made bad decisions out of both the influence of the ring and the pressure put on him to be his people’s hero. So I hold Frodo and Boromir especially on an equal ground of people who are flawed and strained, people tired of fighting and who just want an escape, frankly, a solution they don’t feel is coming especially not through the dark lens of the ring and its temptation to trust the way it warps you.
2. I think part of why Frodo gets emphasized in what can seem like the ‘oh he did no wrong’ narrative comes from the simple fact that he’s one of the characters who holds/interacts with the ring the longest. Besides characters like Bilbo and Gollum, we don’t see as much detail on a long time spent with the ring- in fact, beyond the what the Smeagol flashbacks do Frodo is the main indicator of it all for readers/viewers. Most of the other characters only touch/hold/carry it briefly, not for months like he does. So the weight of it does not fall as heavily on them, but we do see that Sam, the chief hero of the story (Tolkien’s words!), even hesitates before giving the ring back to Frodo after carrying it for a fraction of the time. Would Sam have been driven that much further down by it if he had been the one to carry it? I believe so, though it would have manifested differently (Frodo is more a quiet, brooding type who spits venom on occasion where Sam is much more a man of action and outward anger, so the ring would have twisted that and I think he would have been more tough and explosive while Frodo got nasty if that makes sense). Bilbo and Gollum take on similar traits when they try to snatch the ring and I believe Frodo would have descended further into those, too, with even more time carrying the ring.
3. If we’re looking at LoTR also as a showing that absolute power corrupts, we have to have someone like Frodo fail. We have to show even a ‘little guy’, someone young and joyful at the beginning of the story, someone with innocent beauty, falling to it for that very idea that anyone would. It’s almost easier to believe that one of the aforementioned beacons of power and strength like, say, Gandalf, would fall because they already have power to go to their heads. We see this with Saruman, for example, and how he literally falls from grace and dies trying to dominate. But a hobbit and a young innocent one falling when he has nothing of the sort is more telling and tragic. He never wanted this, in fact though he is brave enough to take it on he also tries to give it up numerous times because of the pressure that ultimately threatens to crush him. It’s a cautionary tale that’s sad because it’s true- pressure and power get to us.
4. I totally agree that Frodo made some bad decisions on his own, too! Once again, nobody’s perfect so as an author I can see why it’s realistic to have him screw up, but for sure I would not blame the ring on every single bad thing Frodo has done! The ring definitely amplifies and warps things, but one of the biggest tells of that is Gollum. Sam doesn’t trust him and is right to do so, and while Gollum is very essential to the story, Frodo does let fear and a desire to do every single thing right (again, pressure, imo a big theme here lolol!) take over the decision to trust their shady guide and then the ring takes the stress of that and Gollum’s words and twists all his feelings of exhaustion and resentment against Sam.
5. We’ll never know for sure, but I’ll wrap this up by saying I do personally believe that Frodo is by far not the only person who would fall in this way. He isn’t a perfect character, either, but that is exactly why what happens happens. But then that logic can by applied to many others too, like not only more obvious targets like Boromir or Gollum but even Gandalf, who feared what he would do with ring in hand, would succumb. The concept of the folly of man is especially interesting to me outside of ‘man’, like in the case of Saruman who is supposed to be of great wisdom and purity as a white wizard, but even he falls short. Even the Valar can fall short. Tolkien to me exemplifies the idea shown biblically that anyone can fall, even angels like lucifer/Maia and Valar like Sauron and Morgoth, if they let greed follow their hearts or do not trust the guidance of others. In this case, for Frodo that was Sam. Distrusting Sam gets him in world of trouble, Tolkien lists Sam as the chief hero, and to me the other core of Lord of the Rings is that NO ONE in that story can do it alone. Frodo would have died and fallen all the way without Sam. Rohan had to come to Gondor’s aid. The Three Hunters would not have succeeded if just Legolas or only Aragorn set out and I firmly believe that. Friendship and trust are what keeps us afloat, and Frodo’s mistrust in that, greatly amplified by stress, exhaustion, and indeed the ring, is his undoing. Human nature and evil temptation are a heck of a combo, friends!
Again, hope you find this an interesting read and even if you still don’t personally enjoy Frodo as a character I understand! I hope this comes across as just an analysis, for I don’t like debating and want to be respectful. People with the ‘I’m right, you are wrong’ mentality are a huge turnoff for me so I try to avoid that type of thinking. Thanks again for giving me a lot of food for thought anon, feel free to stop by more if you want to talk so long as this blog can keep a tone of study, not debate 🫶🏻

!!SPOILERS FOR OMFD S2 FINALE!!
I want to talk about the finale of OFMD, and specifically about why exactly Izzy's death makes me feel so despondent.
So I usually try to stay out of discourse, especially when it has a fandom as divided as this one seems to be now. And I sincerely don't want this to be taken as me being JUST ticked off or anything. But I feel like Izzy's death, while upsetting on it's own, speaks to a larger problem this season struggled with.
Season one, to me, was a gem. My mom's the one who discovered it and told me to watch it, we ended up watching it together and I was hooked (no pun intended) and flat out thrilled to be watching a show that so lovingly showcased positive queer rep and had a tight, hilarious, and touching storyline front to back. I was a wreck (why all the accidental puns today??) when it was over and couldn't wait for season two.
And season two WAS good! It was funny, I loved Buttons arc and Calypso's birthday and all the other great moments this season had. But to me, the biggest problem is that the pacing was really rushed and the writing too convoluted and crammed full of plot points that didn't fit together in the time allotted.
I've seen people on Twitter saying that the episodes never gave the story room to breathe, to let the audience finish reacting to One Thing before moving on to The Next Thing. They introduced new characters, villains, big monumental moments, and I never once felt like I had time to take any of it in with the love and appreciation I would have liked to because things just kept happening.
I don't know if this was a product of the writing itself being flawed on it's own, or HBO not giving OFMD the amount of episodes it deserves, or both. And just to be clear, I do not condone or agree with anyone harassing the creators for answers, or telling them they're dicks or whatever, because that's wrong.
But in my opinion, this season just didn't work. Season one did a great job of balancing it's episodic shenanigans with it's ongoing storyline, and while nothing is perfect, it was very well written and paced.
And that is why I have a big problem with how they handled the death of Izzy Hands being the completion of his character arc.
Here we have a very repressed, battered and broken man RELUCTANTLY coming back from the brink of death, struggling with his handicaps, damaged relationships and purposelessness on The Revenge. And we slowly see him begin to rebuild himself from the ground up. He creates meaningful emotional bonds with the crew he outright hated throughout all of season one, finds a place for his years of experience again when teaching Stede how to be a real pirate, and comes to terms with his relationship with Ed, and Ed's relationship with Stede. He makes peace with all of it and lets the love of the crew, of family, drive him forward for what little time he has left, because he was always on borrowed time by this point.
Ending a character arc with having said character die sucks, because it hurts when it's a character you care deeply about. But it can work, and it HAS worked. That's why writers keep torturing us by doing it.
The problem for me comes back to pacing.
It's the fact Izzy died by a random gunshot wound because he was standing in the wrong place. It's the fact Izzy died for what reads very much as a way to progress Ed's character arc, not end his own. It's the fact Izzy died and the reaction of the rest of the crew was shown so minimally, with nary a word said about it in the aftermath. It's the fact Izzy died and we were immediately swept off into the wedding scene and the introduction of the inn, without giving us, the audience, a quiet moment to grieve as well.
I'm not saying he necessarily needed a bombastic death scene, or for the season to end on an exceedingly somber note. But I feel like Izzy, for all he'd done this season and the growth his character attained, more than deserved a heroes death and clearer acknowledgement by his family. Not to give Ed, who's just kind of existed this season to me, a pep talk with his dying breath and for everyone to just move on immediately.
If there had been time given for this story to breathe, as much as it would have saddened me, I think this could have worked. I think Izzy could have died and it would have had more meaning, the meaning I'm sure they'd hoped it would when they decided to kill him off.
But it didn't work. Not to me at least, and I'm sad about it. A lot of us are sad about it, and will continue to be. Because we still need time to grieve before we can move on. I know it's just a show, and he's just a character in it, but it's a show that's meant so much to so many people, made us feel seen and accepted in a world where that's harder to come by than it should be. And to see a character so beloved get treated as a plot device to an extent at the end of his journey... I would have just loved better for him.
R.I.P. our brash, loud, exceptional unicorn, Izzy Hands.

just curious - why post in a ship tag complaining about the ship? you knew people were going to be upset regardless that you did that but also isn’t it…unnecessary? like, at the end of the day, fanfiction and ships are fiction for a reason. sometimes it’s fun to imagine the impossible and to imagine au’s - and to hate an entire fandom for it seems excessive and quite frankly, rude. i’m not saying dramione is the end all be all bc yeah, some characterizations are so ooc that it’s just like why bother. other times it’s like wow this is really good, but these things can also be related to any other fandoms.
idk, i mean we are all entitled to our own opinion, of course. i guess it just rubbed me wrong way that you’d post something shitting on a ship you so clearly hate and posting it in said fandom.
its not just about "let ppl have their own ships and opinions" it's about hating on the canon and making up their own ships and characters just bcs they didn't like the original one. i totally get whatever jkr said upset a lot of ppl and that's absolutely normal and right thing to do and im not here to defend her or something. i usually separate the art from the artist bcs harry potter always had a special place in my place and i have always loved the canon. i think the hate on canon characters and ships started more after jkr transphobic jokes. ppl are romanticizing toxic characters and toxic ships to go against jkr and i have seen these in so many fanfics. they mainly do it to show that they do not care about the canon or they are against it but they still wanna like it somehow.
saying how some characters should've done this or that in the canon is absolutely bullshit. obv the characters had no idea this will be consequences. nobody is perfect but isn't that what makes a series relatable in some way? every characters had flaws and every character resembled somebody from our daily lives. hating on the canon characters to just make your fav character look like a saint is hypocrisy.
the main reason why the percy jackson fandom is less toxic than hp is bcs they like their author and we don't and they accept their canon the way it is bcs they like their author. i get y'all don't like jkr and neither do i but i dont go out of my way to change the canon bcs i just don't like her.
these new ships and characters are scaring new fans away from canon bcs some of y'all convinced them that fanon is somehow 'better" and when these so called "fans" come on here to share opinions that they've based off of the misinformation they've been fed, they will be unprepared to handle any kind of backlash they may face except their usual "let ppl have their own ships" or "its just fanfiction"
also i use the tags bcs i want ppl to know the misinformation they've been fed by the new genz fandom and how they think shipping random characters don't affect anyone but in reality, it does. i mean literally see how many ppl have been influenced by meneclad and how they think dramione is endgame and how jkr wasted their potential. they never even had any real chemistry in the canon so there was nothing to wasted on.

ROSE QUARTZ/PINK DIAMOND GOT DONE DIRTY BY THE SU FANDOM, AND THE SHOW ITSELF
Tumblr media
Quick disclaimer: I will admit, upfront, that part of the reason I’m even making a vent post of ANY kind of all is because I’m just not in a good place right now in general, and I just need to scream at something. That being said, that doesn’t make my feelings towards this any less real.
I’ve already talked about this a couple times before in the past, but I really do, legitimately, hate the treatment Rose/Pink got in the later parts of Steven Universe, both the main series and Future.
Look, I almost feel that it could have been a good thing in a way, since Rose was kind of put on a pedestal for most of the show’s first half, and seeing as how the series was about Steven discovering himself, and trying to step out from his mother’s shadow, I feel like, if this was handled better, it could have probably been really good.
But dang, this was NOT the way to do it.
Did Pink Diamond, both as herself and in her guise of Rose Quartz, do awful things? Absolutely.
She hurt her Pearl.
She abandoned Spinel.
She made impulsive, and even selfish, decisions.
But she also turned against her fellow Diamonds, her FAMILY, to protect the earth.
She faked her own shattering so she could keep fighting for the same planet she was originally meant to colonize.
She looked after others and cared for life, both human and gem.
Pink did a LOT wrong, but neither her past actions from when she was still a Diamond, or the mistakes she made as Rose Quartz, change the fact that she spent the entire rest of her existence trying to do good, to change, and become a better person.
And it really DOES strike a chord with me that the fandom, and even the SHOW ITSELF, act like she’s some horrible reprehensible villain especially since it seems to ring very true for how some treat people in the real world who used to do/say some not-so-great things, even if it’s been literal years since then, and they’re genuinely different people from who they were back then. Yeah...it kind of hits just a bit close to home for me...
It just doesn’t sit well with me that someone like WHITE DIAMOND can be forgiven, while Pink, the one Diamond who dared to turn against Homeworld and fight to protect the life of a planet that wasn’t hers, is the universally-agreed upon hated character.
Whether her reasons were ultimately altruistic or selfish, that doesn’t change the fact that she protected the earth and cared for the people she came to love, the best she could, until the day she gave up her physical form.
TL; DR: PINK DIAMOND WAS A VERY FLAWED, BUT ULTIMATELY NUANCED AND HUMAN CHARACTER, AND I WILL NEVER FORGIVE THE SU FANDOM, OR THE SHOW ITSELF, FOR TREATING HER LIKE A MONSTER WHEN SHE WASN’T.

You Are Just A Shameless Hypocrite
Tumblr media
In other words, you are selectively oblivious and will dismiss any criticism that people are seeing because you want to seem like you are open but you really are defensive when people are seeing more of the flaws crack. And fuck you for your double standards anyone knows you haven’t said a good word about Villainous in a long while. And you praise Vivzipop and her crew without question even as they have evidence of abuse. And again you only criticize Al which just shows you have double standard biases. Also crying it’s taboo to criticize when your ilk is trying to make it off the table to realize something is wrong with how everything is being handled on Vivziepop’s show. And again you can’t accept the obvious because that would mean that you have to look at how much things are turning to shit. Also emphasize the word “spoken” which is a case of endorsing the opposite of “show don’t tell”. They can tell us Millie is one way, but if they can’t show it it’s bs.
Also complain about the Villainous fandom about speaking their minds while trying to control what the critiques think that Helluva Boss is devolving into. In other words, you look like more of a hypocrite and have little self-awareness about it.

Honestly while Rick and Morty has a million flaws (I enjoy it despite the flaws) at least they know that one big gesture doesn't make up for consistent abuse. An example I would like to use is when Rick sacifrices himself for Morty in "A Rickle In Time" You may know about this if you are or were in the Rick and Morty fandom, but if you do not know, I'll tell you. So to make a long story short, Rick, Morty, and Summer's time was messing up, everytime they were uncertain about something, they would create a feedback loop, making their time more unstable and therefore more dangerous. They had to put time collars on so their time will be stable again. Rick broke them so Rick had to fix the collars. He suceeds in him and Summer's collar, Summer puts hers on and therefore she is safe. She goes back to stable time so now it's just Rick and Morty. Morty tells Rick that his collar is broken, Rick originally brushes it off saying he fixed it and to just put it on, but Morty insists that it's broken.
Rick told Morty to bring it here so he can fix it but then Morty fell down a hole created by the unstablity of the time. Rick screamed Morty's name and just looked down the hole. He looks around and jumps in the hole to get Morty. If those of you that don't know, there's infinite Ricks and Mortys, so Rick could've just gotten another Morty, but chose not to. He grabs onto Morty and tells Morty to give him his collar, Morty said that he dropped it. Rick looked worried, looked around, then, gave Morty his collar, saving Morty's life over his. And his choosen last words were "I'm ok with this, be good Morty. Be better than me." Now of course he sees the collar Morty dropped and turned out to be fine, but for the moment he was 100% willing to save Morty's life over his.
Now was this a selfless act? Yes, absolutely. Should he have done it? Yes. Does this scene makes me cry? .....Admittidly yes. Does it make up for the consistent emotional abuse Rick inflicts on Morty? No. Now if this was another show *cough* spop *cough* This would mean that everything Rick did to Morty is ok! But no, he's still called out mutiple times and his behavior doesn't change after this, (I mean it does but not for a few seasons) I like that it actually shows that one big grand gesture does not make consistent abuse ok, that should be obvious, butttt a certain show *cough* spop *cough* seems to not get that.
Another show I'd like to praise for this is Bojack Horseman. Bojack does do big gestures, and while these are sweet, none of them solve the root of his problems, the root of his toxicity. He saves Todd from an improv group (Long story makes sense in context) and gives a legitmentally heartwarming speech about how when Todd first moved in with Bojack and thanked him for letting him stay with him, Bojack didn't hate himself, which is not something he feels often. Now while this was sweet, he doesn't bother to try and solve the root of his toxicity with Todd, and is still consistently horrible towards him, and Bojack says it perfectly "The big gesture isn't enough, you have to be consistent and that is so hard"
Now with that, all I want to say is that I love how those two shows acknowledge that big gestures don't make up for consistent abuse, we can find them sweet, but we must notice that unless the behavior changes, these big gestures really don't mean much. It's a really mature perspective for these shows to take, unlike another certain show *cough* spop *cough*
With that, how does spop handle big gestures? Well Catra saves Glimmer, now the best friend squad goes over to save Catra because she saved Glimmer, now when they get Catra she imminetally regresses and yells at Adora for insulting her, and calls her an idiot which Adora again interenlizes, yippe! Now do they regonize that while her saving Glimmer was sweet, that doesn't mean that they have to put up with her? Nope! Adora vents to Glimmer about it as she should, but Glimmer just brushes it off saying that Catra wasn't going to instantly become a different person, but Adora said she thought Catra would at least try, and Catra doesn't, she never thanks Adora for risking her life to save her, she never stops her abuse of Adora, and she is still horrible to Adora. And they still put up with her again because she holds Adora's hand and asks her to stay.
I know I'm comparing a kid's show with 2 adult shows, but kid's show have the oppurtunity to be incredibly mature, and that's what the stans always call it. But it shouldn't be teaching kids that "If you're consistently horrible, it's ok as long as you do some big grand gesture to show how much you care!" It's just an incredibly harmful message to send to kids, and if you teach kids this I can imagine them very easily falling into a toxic relationship.
So my final point, while you can appreciate grand gestures and find them sweet, those gestures don't mean much if they do not put in the work to change, you can't just forgive someone just because they did some big grand gesture for you if they don't at least attempt to change the way they treat you.

The Body Swap Episode
So, Once Upon A Swap has what might be called a "reputation" amongst the fandom. When the episode came out, the reception was average, with the immediate recognition that it was a filler episode. However, as time as gone on, more and more think pieces have sprung up discussing this as "the worst episode" or "the weakest episode".
What is my opinion? Well, this isn't my favourite episode, but it isn't my least favourite either.
I am also a contrarian by nature, so I'm going to attempt to argue that this episode has strengths and try to explain what those are and the effect they have on the series as a whole. Specifically, this episode shows character flaws and strengths under pressure.
Let me explain.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Tumblr media
First up, art is subjective, there is no such thing as a "bad piece of television". Yes, expertise of craft is a thing, but that isn't synonymous with the creation itself being "good", because again, art is subjective. The best series or episode is the series or episode that you, personally, liked the most.
Anyway...
Tumblr media
This episode is centred around the gimmick of the body swap. TV Tropes calls this a "Freaky Friday Flip", and it is a fairly stock episode of a series. Certain series take it further (There's a character in One Piece for whom this is almost their entire shtick), but that isn't the point. The point is that this is an episode used to highlight character.
As in, this is giving at least one character an insight into the life of another, and showing that insight to the audience as they follow along. It also shows the character who's mind we are following as they react to unusual situations and usually to a loss of abilities that they would usually rely on.
(Also as a note, i will be referring to the characters by their mind, not their body, if that makes sense. This episode is confusing to write about)
Tumblr media
For example, Eda's adventure shows the perils of being King, and shows how Eda responds to not being able to cast magic (I wonder if that will ever come up again). While the perils of this episode are mostly a bit shallow in my opinion, the problem solving isn't.
We see Eda's flaws, and how like King she really is. Eda has an ego just as big as her son, and despite acknowledging the obvious warning bells of her plot, she is tricked by a simple compliment. We see that, although she is unconditionally one of the series' mentour characters, she is anything but wise.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile King wears his flaws on his sleeves. You could say that Luz and Eda do too, but King does it the most obviously. He is ambitious, and, to put it bluntly, delusional. He seeks fame and adoration, so naturally he finds it in this episode, but is completely unprepared for it to go sour as being special as a teenager ain't all it's cracked up to be. However, we also see the sheer force of personality King is throwing around. Eloquence and charisma aren't the same thing. Bellos is eloquent, King is charismatic.
Case and point: Even when everything is going badly for him, King always has something to say to shrug it off and get under Bosha's skin.
Tumblr media
Finally, there is Luz, and Eda's problems. First up, this is the first of only a few times we get to see Luz cast "real magic". As in, not from a glyph. And although she isn't as proficient as Eda, most likely due to a lack of experience, she revels in the power. You could even say that she relies on it above all else. Luz is a character chasing fantasies, and this is one that has almost literally fallen from the sky in front of her.
Tumblr media
But Eda's life does have drawbacks. Eda is on the run, and we see how Luz handles that. Badly. The reason the emperor's coven is such a threat to Eda is because it's not a problem she can throw magic at until it goes away. Luz doesn't quite get that, she instead runs on TTRPG-character-after-a-power-up energy and tries to use it at every situation.
Tumblr media
But Luz isn't without her own strengths. I've said elsewhere that Luz isn't especially powerful, and I stand by that. What she has instead is a tactical mind, and that mind carries over to this situation. Here, instead of a strategising, we see that mind learn incredibly quickly. Yes, she gets lucky, but she also picks up on some things, notably a little bit of the background between Eda, Lilith, and the Emperor's Coven itself.
Tumblr media
Essentially, this comes back to what I have said in earlier posts. The Owl House uses archetypal storytelling masterfully. It shows characters as tropes first, then shows the nuances of their characterisation as you get closer to them and understand more. In this episode, Luz, King, and Eda can only see the tropes that their companions fit into, and only after living their lives for a while can they comprehend the complexity.

Trans Masc Naoto Shirogane (my take)
Hi I’m finally getting around to finishing persona 4 golden and I need people to understand that I love Naoto so much. (my multi fandom is showing)
I also need people to understand that while yes, the game states that Naoto isn’t trans and is content with being a girl, Naoto’s story still resonates with trans people and arguably makes more sense if he were trans.
Naoto isn’t trans in canon, but there’s substantial evidence for people to see him as such.
So I’m gonna rant abt it a little
- “Seeing Naoto as trans is MORE harmful than Naoto being a girl”
The point being brought up here is that those who hc Naoto as trans are forcing this identity on him, just as transphobic people do onto others.
The main flaw with this is that Naoto isn’t a real person. No one is “forcing” a gender identity because they can’t. They’re not real. This would only be valid if in canon there was a character who forced Naoto to present as male, but there isn’t.
- “Saying Naoto is trans is like saying Mulan is trans”
Mulan dressed up as a man to protect her father, a clear reaction to the situation at hand. Naoto chooses to present as male in every aspect of his life ever since he was young. Naoto’s mother was a renowned detective as well, it doesn’t make a lot of sense for Naoto to be completely convinced he has to be a man in order to be a detective.
- The workplace sexism topic isn’t handled well
While I won’t deny that sexism in the workplace is a problem, the game barely highlights this. The only part we see of Naoto being discriminated against is because he’s young. The game tries to explain an issue that it never shows, there’s no evidence to the audience that Naoto would’ve been treated any differently had he present as female.
Naoto’s family is also said to be a long line of renowned detectives, some of which have had to be female.
Naoto’s shadow talks about how he’s lonely and just a child. He also says that he’ll “never cross the line between the two sexes” the shadows say the fears and inner thoughts of a person.
If Naoto’s story had been more focused on workplace discrimination, his shadow would’ve said something like “I don’t want to be a boy” implying that his expression as a boy is unwanted but forced because of workplace discrimination.
It isn’t though, it focuses on Naoto’s insecurities about never being able to change the fact he was born a woman, something that’s very similar to the trans experience.
- Naoto’s character arc is based around self acceptance, this can work for the trans hc and canon
While in the game it’s displayed as Naoto coming to terms that he doesn’t need to be a boy, and it’s okay for him to be a girl regardless of his occupation, this can work just as well (if not more) for the trans hc.
Naoto’s self acceptance can be presented as “I don’t have to medically transition/be born a boy in order to be a boy”
This could also explain Naoto’s apparent fear about gender reassignment surgery with how it’s presented with his shadow.
- “Naoto being trans would be sending the message that you can just transition to avoid systemic discrimination”
Crazily enough, trans people also face discrimination in the workplace. And this is also assuming Naoto’s arc would be about a character transitioning for convenience when obviously there’s a lot more to that to transitioning.
- Naoto doesn’t mind when people see him as a boy, even when in canon he identifies as a woman
This implies some kind of non-negative view of him being a boy, this implies that he doesn’t just do it to be not discriminated in the workplace, it’s part of him and his identity.
edit: I think it’s important to point out that it’s not wrong to perceive Naoto as a woman, as that’s what the persona 4 canon is, but the point is to rather justify the interpretations of Naoto as a transman and debunk common statements made against the hc
Tumblr media
Anyway Kanji is gay bc he has a crush on a guy who he perceived as a guy, not cause he’s a man with feminine interests
