Why is the Super Mario Bros lore harder to grasp than biochemistry?? I'd sooner memorise the different organic molecules and their functions in the human body than read over all the tiny varieties of Koopas. I mean, why is Bowser called Koopa? Why is his subspecies called Koopa? Why is the entirety of the main race called Koopa? Like I'm sorry, that's like saying "this is Rattus the Rattus Rattus, king of the Rattus"
Why is the information about his kingdom such a mess? Is he a king or just a bully with a little too much power and a self-proclaimed title? After all, a significant chunk of of the Koopa race doesn't actually follow him.
At least the Mushroom Kingdom is simple. It's consistent. We love consistency. Yes, very much so.

Bowser time
Bowserosuchus (Bowser Crocodlie) B. Kooparex
Bowserosuchus is a type of Rauisuchidae, It lived in Early Cretaceous, Japan. However as most Rauischidea died out by the triassic period, it seems that this particular specimen had branched off from its taxonomy and it is placed within it’s own family branch.
Discovered in 1985 by Shigeru Miyamoto, at the time Mr. Miyamoto had found fragments of the specimen’s back and believed that it was a very large biped turtle like creature with large armored spikes. As the find was very fragmentary, bits of the spiked back and half of a femur, he had placed the specimen in under the turtle clade.
Then years later Yōichi Kotabe had discovered more fossils that showed more of the back, the back legs, and tail. On top of that discovery there was another similar specimen in a different country. As there was more information the shape of the creature had taken a different shape.
Goomba crab        G.Crab
These crabs had developed a face like structure to scare off predators like Bowserosuchus. However it seems that the local mushroom also has a similar facial structure. It is unknown why both, G.crab and G.Fungi have a symbiotic relationship.
however I hear crab is very delicious this time of year

AU Time, AU Time!!
This AU has quite a few alterations! The main ones are included here, but there'll be more noticable ones that will come later!
- King Koopa has custody of his kids and isn't an asshole! (Wowie!)
- The Koopalings are MUUUUUCH younger and their age order is different
- SPECIES SHIFT, SPECIES SHIFT, SPECIES SHIFT-
- The Broodals live on Earth
- Peasley and Toadstool aren't avalailable for asks in this AU because their kingdoms don't like Koopas
And before I get to the juicy stuff, I'd like to provide inspo credit!!

Okay, les gooooo!

Koopa Species & World Geography:
Tumblr media
This map is a good reference point for where the countries are and the diversity of environments in this world. There are many species of Koopa depending on the environment:
Sky Koopas: High altitudes, in the sky (Sky Land, Cloud Kingdom, Mengeruine Clouds)
Sea Koopas: Warmer oceans / lakes (think near the islands, beaches, and Lake Kingdom)
Sand Koopas: Any desert (Layer Cake Desert, Sand Kingdom
Pirahna Koopas: Pipe Land
Snow Koopas: Very cold areas (Ice Land and Snow Kingdom)
Rock Koopas: Mountainous regions (Rock Candy Mines
Jungle Koopas: Soda Jungle
Grass Koopas: Standard, normal Koopas. Found just about everywhere
This guide also applies to the Koopa Kids, as they follow the Koopa species.
These species give each of the Koopalings (& Kids) quirks. (Except Cheatsy and Larry.)
Sky Koopas (Ludwig & Bully) have wings and hollow bones. As babies, Sky Koopas use a humming bird's wing pattern to fly.
Sea Koopas (Wendy & Kootie Pie) have gills and fins that make them EXCELLENT swimmers.
Jungle Koopas (Iggy) and climb and camoflauge, as well as easily tear through bark to eat tree bugs. (Iggy had to break a habbit of eating ants.)
Sand Koopas (Big Mouth and Roy) have many spikes to avoid being eaten. They also take on a reddish-brown colour to blend in with desert rocks when hunting. They have great digging ability, so they can chill under the sand during the scorching day. The varients of Sand Koopas have different tails, such as rattle snake (Big Mouth) and scorpion (Roy). Oh, also, they're venomous! And scorpion Sand Koopas can sting :3
Rock Koopas (Morton) are Desert Koopas evolved to climb mountains and fight others to become king of the hill to get the best (limited) vegetation. Their most notable feature is their horns.
Snow Koopas (Lemmy, Hip & Hop) are furry and get very weak in the heat. They also love fish. They tend to purr when happy, and often knead. Like cats, they have retractable claws.
Pirahna Koopas (Kooky) are known as the "freaks" of Koopas because they act the most feral. They bite, have cloroplast in their tail, have odd coloured eyes... The rumours have been that they're merges of Pirahna Plant and Koopa, but it was actually evolution slowly turning Pipeland Koopas into partial pirahna plants.
Koopalings
The koopalings JUST got adopted by Bowser. Their age order (oldest to youngest) goes Iggy, Morton, Lemmy, Ludwig, Roy, Wendy, Larry. (This is a reference.) They all have separate parents (except for Ludwig & Roy, as they're twins) that passed away in some horrific accident. (I love giving my characters trauma! <3) Their ages go as such:
Larry -> 4
Wendy -> 5
Roy & Ludwig -> 7
Lemmy -> 9
Morton -> 10
Iggy -> 12
They all take magic lessons from Kamek, and designed their wands to their liking. (Morton was TOLD to not make a hammer, but he didn't care.) Due to PTSD, they can be hostile, jittery or distressed at points for seemingly little or no reason. They try to adjust to their new life as royalty.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Koopa Kids
King Koopa keeps custody of his kids in this AU! Many koopas from all over the world volunteered to birth the king's children, but once they lounged around to get enough luxury items, they left. Bully was born paralysed from the waist down, but when unable to use his wheelchair, he gets around by flying. Also, Cheatsy is trans in this AU, but unlike the main world, King Koopa is fully supportive of his younger princess. (She dresses like Kootie Pie, but in hues of blue.) The only mother that still bothers to visit is Kooky's mother, who is much the opposite of Pirahna Koopa stereotypes and often comes to calm her son. The Koopa Kids age order is as follows:
Bully -> 14
Kootie Pie -> 11
Big Mouth -> 9
Kooky -> 7
Cheatsy -> 6
Hip & Hop -> 3
Tumblr media
Broodals
The Broodals are a mafia gang! Madame Broode (called Mama Broode) is the mother figure and leader (as well as the birth mother of Hariet). Hariet is uninterested in joining the gang, and Mama Broode respected her wishes by getting an apartment near a wealthy school so Hariet could study and "become anything she wanted to make Mama proud". Meanwhile, Mama Broode took orphaned boys into her gang, including
Topper, an abandoned bun with a lazy eye and a stutter
Spewart, an aggressive and protective older brother mourning the recent death of his parents and coping with homelessness
Rango, a non verbal child trying to comprehend everything.
Their ages go:
Topper -> 8
Hariet -> 16
Spewart -> 12
Rango -> 3
Tumblr media
And there you have it!!
Everyone I listed is open for asks!!
I waited so long for this, oh good golly-
It's 1am for me now though! Bedtime!

Sex and the City Meets an Effeminate Heterosexual
“Evolution” (August 19, 1999)
If you came of age in the late 90s or early 2000s, you live in a world informed by Sex and the City — whether you realize it or not. It’s probably one of the most influential TV shows to air during our lifetimes, and so it’s more than time that we look at one of its many LGBTQ-themed episodes. Joining us to discuss Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte is returning guest Gwynedd Stuart, who has big feelings about why this show matters.
Listen to Gwynedd’s previous episode about Soap.
Most of Drew’s background on how SATC ended up at HBO comes from this Vulture article. And here is the 1991 New York Times article about Woody Allen and Mia Farrow waving at each other from across Central Park.
Listen to Drew discussing Bowser, King of the Koopa, on the Retronauts podcast.

LM3 Headcanon: The evolution of ghosthunting
Ghost Hunting can be separated into two “eras”. Pre-Modern and Modern
The pre-modern era was…basically before the invention of the Poltergust! Ghosts were usually “kept at bay” most of the time with stuff like charms that could ward them off rather than being caught!! Though catching,wasn’t entirely out of question,though it would take a lot of more magical means,like entrapping them in a jewel or something of the like. Usually mage like people would do this!!
The modern era of ghost hunting came around the time of the first Luigi’s Mansion game,as E.Gadd revolutionised it himself with the invention of the Poltergust!! He sold them around and they became a hit!! People could just grab a vacuum and suck up a ghost that was haunting them…or just because they could! And ghost portraits can be hold for very hefty prices,so that’s a win win!! E.Gadd gets a very big profit regardless!! In other words,E.Gadd essentially started the ghost hunting renaissance!
Unlife was never really easier for ghosts before the modern ghost hunting era,as ghost warding charms can be very painful for a ghost to be around,especially if people are shoving them in their direction if they’re being mobbed out by a whole,well…mob,and once again,ghost catching still existed!!
But with the modern era,things were…different. And not a good different. Ghosts who experienced the shift to the new era were…frankly horrified!! Ghost catching was once a worst case scenario sort of thing,but now…anyone could do it. Ghost capturing went from a rarity to something frequent enough that spectres had to actively look out for it!
And how it was accessible to anyone. Not the experienced few,but anyone who could get their hands on a Poltergust. Many of which ghost hunted because…they could. Because it was integrated in their minds that all ghosts are naturally malicious and catching them is a good thing. Some people just want a powertrip in knowing that they can capture people without any real consequences! Or maybe some just…don’t think that ghosts are people who’ve past,and it’s a hobby like catching bugs or fish.
There’s no consequences to capturing a ghost. Bowser captures Princess Peach and it’s always a big deal. But anyone could catch a ghost and no one would react as they would with the first example. Mario is there to save Peach,but no one comes to save a captured ghost. Most don’t even consider how the ghost feels about their loss of freedom…or how they feel at all!! You could call it a double standard!

Get ready to jump into the unexpected with Super Mario Bros. Wonder—the next evolution of Mario fun and the first 2D side-scrolling Super Mario Bros. game in more than 10 years! With a new Flower Kingdom to explore and a varied roster of playable characters, Super Mario Bros. Wonder also introduces Wonder Flowers – game-changing items that create surprising effects you have to see to believe.
In Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the benevolent Prince Florian invites Mario and his friends to the Flower Kingdom – a not-so-distant land just beyond the Mushroom Kingdom. But Bowser, the King of the Koopas, has other plans. With just a single touch of the mysterious Wonder Flower, Bowser merges with Prince Florian’s castle. Thanks to his newfound power, chaos spreads across the land. Now it’s up to Mario and pals to stop Bowser and save the Flower Kingdom. Here are just a handful of the features and highlights that players can experience on this flower-ful adventure:
A Kingdom Teeming with Variety – The Flower Kingdom is made up of six distinct worlds that circle the Petal Isles, giving you a total of seven areas to explore. Traverse multiple islands, dive into the sea and spelunk through caves. A rich variety of courses await in each world, and you can even walk freely through open areas you find on the world map.
Wondering About Wonder Effects? Expect the Unexpected – Wonder Flowers thrive off this world’s mysterious power and release it when in bloom. When you touch a Wonder Flower in a course, a Wonder effect will trigger, causing dramatic changes. Pipes might start moving, the terrain may tilt, your perspective can change or you might float through space. There are even Wonders that can transform your character into a Goomba or a Spike-Ball.
Charismatic Characters at Your Command – Besides Mario, you can also play as Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Blue Toad or Yellow Toad, and even Toadette. They all play the same, so go with your favorite or mix it up with someone different. Yoshis and Nabbit won’t take damage, so they’re a smart choice if you’re looking for a more easygoing experience.
Plenty of Power-Ups – Super Mario Bros. Wonder features the debut of new power-ups such as the Elephant Fruit, which allows Mario and some of his friends to transform into Elephant form. Throw around your weight—and your nose—as you swing your trunk to attack enemies, destroy blocks and dash across large gaps. The Bubble form allows you to blow floating bubbles that can be used to capture enemies from a distance. The Drill form makes dealing with spiky or hard-headed enemies a breeze. It also allows you to burrow and move through the ground.
Don’t Let Your Enemies Get the Best of You – When it comes to enemies, you’ll encounter new treacherous ones while traipsing through the Flower Kingdom. Hoppycats will copy you and jump when you jump. Melon Piranha Plants spit seeds from their mouths. Condarts will fly at you and stick their beaks into your business. Maw-Maws will eat anything that comes too close to their gaping mouths. There are many new enemies for you to discover.
Equip a Badge to Mix It Up – As your adventure progresses, you’ll be able to earn a variety of different in-game badges, each with its own special ability. In local multiplayer, each group of players will use the same badge. Check out some of the fun options available:
**Enhance your wall-jumping abilities with the Wall-Climb Jump badge.
**Equip the Dolphin Kick badge to unleash an underwater burst of speed.
**Charge up a bounding leap with the Crouching High Jump badge.
**Shoot vines in mid-air and stick to walls with the Grappling Vine badge.
**For a double-edged sword and an additional challenge, become invisible to your enemies (and yourself) with the Invisibility badge.
Multiply the Fun with Local Multiplayer – Up to four people can play locally on the same Nintendo Switch system. If a player is defeated in local cooperative play, their character will float around the course as a ghost. If another player reaches them before time runs out, they’ll jump right back into action, and the group won’t lose any lives. If someone is playing as a Yoshi, you can jump on their back and ride them around the course. Giddy-up!
Jump into Online Play – While playing online, you have the option of creating a room to get together with friends. In a shared room, you can see which courses your friends are playing, play the same one together and even turn most courses into a friendly race. Even when playing solo, if you connect online, you can see other players from around the world in courses and on the world map enjoying the game in real time, appearing as live player shadows. You can come back to life by bumping into a live player shadow here too. Plus, you can assist fellow online players by placing a standee that they can use to revive ghosts. Place them creatively in challenging areas to really help someone out. The game will even display how many people have used your standee assist.

I decided to watch four Super Mario Bros movies/OVAs today. It was fun, and I think they were all good in different ways so it's hard to rank which one i think is “the best.” So, instead, I’ve decided to use a completely arbitrary ranking system to give me an excuse to throw my thoughts into the void. So without further ado…
Super Mario Bros Movies/OVAs ranked by Mario’s proximity to guns.
4) The Super Mario Bros Movie (2023)
Tumblr media
At this point I don't think this movie needs any introduction.
No guns are shown, but since it references/partly takes place in modern day New York, I feel like it's pretty reasonable to assume that they exist. There are cannons and Bullet Bills if you put them in the same category as guns? But that’s it.
Which, y’know, makes sense considering this is the most game accurate movie. I’d definitely recommend watching if you haven't. It's fun, it’s cute, and you can tell there’s a lot of love put into it. It’s very refreshing.
3) The Great Mission to Save Princess Peach! (1986)
Tumblr media
This Japan-exclusive animated movie puts the brothers in a more fantasy-style world. It's cute, but don't expect a lot of callbacks like what we got in the newest movie since the game series was still establishing an identity (the brothers aren't even plumbers in this one, they work as grocers!).
Near the beginning of the movie, Mario gets so mad at the idea of Bowser marrying Peach that he turns into a gunslinging caricature through the sheer power of animated rage:
Tumblr media
Did this make me spit out my drink? No, because I wasn't drinking. But if I was? Yeah I probably would've. Cute movie nonetheless.
2) Super Mario Bros (1993)
Tumblr media
Do I explain what happens in this one? Do I want to take on that challenge? I greatly enjoy this version of the Mario Brothers (hell, I own two DVD copies of this movie). Their dynamic is great in a completely new way, and the world is pretty interesting. Plus the brothers actually use plumbing tools and skills throughout it! There are references to the game, but if you're expecting a 1:1 adaptation and want nothing else, this is not for you.
Anyway. Bowser's army is armed with "De-Evolution Guns," which are like ray guns that turn you into whatever your species evolved from. A human guy gets shot by one and turns into a monkey after the Twin Towers get Thanos snapped. The guns are shown pretty frequently throughout the latter half of the movie, and both Mario and Luigi wield them in the final battle to turn Koopa into primordial slime.
Yes. You read all of those words correctly. The movie is a trip and a half and I love it.
Tumblr media
1) Amada Anime Series: Super Mario Bros (1989)
These are a series of three short OVAs where Mario characters are used to tell well known fairy tales. The shorts adapt Momotaro, a story called Little One-Inch, and Snow White. Watching all three will only take around fourty minutes, but it is a wild fourty minutes. Here's the pertinent clip that sent me into tears.
... I don't remember that part of the fairy tale.
But fear not, Although Mario just carries this around for half the OVA, he's never actually shown firing it. The worst it gets is just shots of him brandishing it during the fight with Bowser.
Tumblr media
I’m still not sure that what I watched was real tbh.
Anyway thank you for coming to my TED Talk, I’m gonna go lay in bed and stare at my ceiling until the psychic damage wears off.

For genuinely no reason I'm gonna be doing a couple lists of things I'm into. Was gonna be one single post but the list for even just games was getting pretty long so I'm splitting it in two: this one for just games, and another for just shows. Those are basically the two categories of things I really like so uh... yeah let's do those now.
Kirby: In terms of "has things I like versus things I dislike", Kirby has just about the perfect record, all happy feelings with no strings attached. It's a series that sparks thorough delight in just about every aspect, with incredible atmosphere, an extremely lovable cast, gameplay that scratches the perfect balance of "hard to lose but fun to master", GODLY soundtracks, fun background story to dig into, and probably one of the most naturally pleasant fanbases I've had the pleasure of being in contact with. Personal favorite is Return to Dreamland, which still ranks as one of my all-time favorite games ever, though Robobot, Forgotten Land, and Super Star rank pretty highly too. Favorite characters are Susie and Dedede, favorite abilities are Hammer, Ninja, Jet, and Beetle.
Sonic the Hedgehog: Not even gonna dignify the joyless losers who thoughtlessly make fun of the series with a disclaimer, this is the ultimate in "this is cool, shut up". I really don't know how to describe it besides "cool factor", the stylish character designs and inarguably banger music keep me invested in this series by themselves. Admittedly I'm not super hardcore when it comes to playing the games, still working my way through most of the series, but like. who cares, the Sonic Fandom IRS? Leaving a note on my doorstep that reads "fake fan lmao"? Not afraid of those guys. I'll spit in their lunch. And they'll like it. Favorite characters are Rouge, Omega, Vector, Metal Sonic and Eggman.
Pikmin: A series I have WAY too much extremely specific petty fandom history with that I have ultimately decided to ignore to accept that I still adore these games. Gorgeous atmosphere, delightful whimsical speculative evolution designs, and Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiincredibly satisfying real time management gameplay. I like 1 and 2 after playing/replaying both of them recently just about as equally, 3's still my favorite and I'm excited to at LONG last play 4 once I get my Switch's battery fixed.
Mario: It feels weird specifying I'm a Mario fan, it's not a series I'm that passionate about overall but with how much of the series I've played it feels weird not to mention, especially when it's technically the inspiration behind my username. No game opinions. Rosalina best girl but all the girls are great. Bowser is great too.
Zelda: Another one where it feels odd to specify but. yeah I like these too. hard not to. The one game in the series I'm exceptionally (though I do mean EXCEPTIONALLY) passionate about is Skyward Sword, another one of my favorite games of all time worthy of its own mega post eventually. I also love the BotW trilogy (yes, all three of them) and Link Between Worlds. Ravio gets a special Silly Little Guy Award.
Pokemon: Genuinely forgot to put this one because this is genuinely one of the most exhausting series in the most neutral way possible. Burnout from the newer releases aside (not even necessarily for quality they just keep HAPPENING) it's hard to say I'm not a fan anyways. It's a hard formula to truly make joyless despite PLA's best efforts to massacre the battle system. Even the worst main series games have the fun of planning out a team of little guys you wouldn't give the light of day if they didn't just happen to fit into your team plans (Hopsune Mikeru my beloved Seismitoad). Plus there's the fun of shiny hunting and challenge runs, my personal pick for the latter being monotype bug. Bug is my favorite type, and makes up most of my top ten favorites like Scizor, Vikavolt, and Heracross, but my all time favorite is Meowth for. More reasons than you might think.
Splatoon: Kind of like Sonic where I have that vague "fake fan" mindset just because I've never been that into the multiplayer and mostly just enjoy the aesthetic and narrative aspects. Difference though is that I have played the entire series in terms of single player content, which I do in fact love a pretty good bit. Thankfully just finished Side Order right as I noticed my Switch was looking kinda funny, because uh! yeah gay fish! My god these bitches gay! Good for them! I haven't interacted much with the wider Splatoon fandom yet, but this is the one game series in over half a decade I've made OCs for, and I think they're pretty fun even if they have a total disregard for the canon art style and bend the lore to whatever I think would be neat if it existed. So uh. yeah I hope they get looked at soon.
Overwatch: The reason I never really felt the need to play Splatoon multiplayer and that's all I'm going to say about it now.
Plants vs. Zombies and Insaniquarium: In my heart PvZ is a series of two games and one of them is about fish. Might try the shooter spinoffs at some point, no ill will to fans of those, I just haven't given them a try yet. These two are kind of the surviving remnants of that golden childhood purity of simple flash-like games, which have such a simple charm, and genuinely satisfying gameplay loop. Obviously PvZ is the overall better game that's stood the tests of time, but Insaniquarium Deluxe has an even more primal nostalgia embedded in my brain. Of all the obscure fish tank games I saw my dad play on his old computer (as some of my rare happy memories of the man) this is the only one that I ever reunited with. They're both fantastic and also collectively like 3 bucks on Steam during a sale, please play them.
Endless Ocean: Can't bring up the fish autism without mentioning this one too. Specifically referring to the second one with a different name depending on where you are, never played the first one and not necessarily in a hurry to remedy that. Very chill but also secretly insane diving game that profoundly itched the underwater-loving corners of my brain first tended to by Finding Nemo. The fish have Lore. Insanely excited for the third game, genuinely did NOT expect that happening.
Subnautica: The third and final horseman of the fish autism apocalypse, which is allegedly a horror game that I choose to play as a farming simulator because it didn't stop me. Gorgeous, insanely brilliant creature designs with intricate biological thought put behind them, fun exploration and base building, it's just great. Have only played up to the endgame myself but have seen the ending (thanks Mark, only got into this game thanks to you) and still haven't played Below Zero but I'm excited to get to it in spite of it apparently not being as good.
Spore: This one's like. Fish autism adjacent. Even if they CUT THE AQUATIC STAGE THOSE HEARTLESS BAST- anyways yeah this game's great. Not as like. A video game. That you're supposed to actually play. Going through the actual gameplay stages as intended, the only one that comes close to being interesting is Creature and that's entertaining for like an hour before you run out of stuff to do and are shoved into moving on. No, this is beloved to me because of it having the single most addictive character creator of all time. It's genuinely endlessly entertaining just making creatures of all shapes and sizes, pushing the creation tools to their limits. Even if the core gameplay was good I don't think my playtime would be that different. If there's any games that have similar creation mechanics then please tell me, I'd love to at least check them out.
Minecraft: it's uh. It's Minecraft. When my laptop works I stream it every saturday with friends. do I uh. have to say more.
Epic Mickey: Another nostalgic Wii classic, and the most excited I think just about anyone my age gets over the mouse. It's an incredible love letter to Disney history with such a unique art style and story that all work together to create something special and not just something tacky and aimlessly edgy. I'm honestly shocked there aren't more games that use a run down theme park as a setting, especially with how popular and neat urban exploring stuff like the Disney parks is, but I feel like it'd be easy to take that too far into grimdark, which EM neared as close as it could without going overboard by virtue of being a real Disney product. Oswald also gets the premium golden Silly Little Guy award, I love him dearly please let him do more things now. Also if you wanna get into the game without waiting on and/or paying for Rebrushed then I highly recommend the incredibly well-researched and very entertaining Let's Play of it by youtube user "theenglishman", it's so good for such a small channel I gotta shout him out where I can.
Shovel Knight: The NES throwback game that's so good you forget that was its marketing gimmick back in the early 2010s when people cared about that sort of thing. Obviously the gameplay is just more palatable with modern polish and... actually good game design, but even just the game being fun (and also an INCREDIBLE deal now if you bought in early and got the whole package of essentially 5 games for the price of the original release, and even if you only buy it now it's still worth it) doesn't cover all of why it's stuck with me. Again stop me if I've said this before, but fantastic visuals, incredible music, and great character designs that have a delightful style all their own rather than feeling limited to just what'd be accurate to the NES era. Genuinely great, got some underrated blorbos there. King Knight is my favorite of the treasure trove's collection to play but also Plague Knight is another Silly Little Guy honorable mention.
Undertale/Deltarune: you uh. gonna be surprised the tumblr user likes these games. I really don't need to say what's been said a thousand times about these games being so special, but I can say I have a weird angle on the series as a relative newcomer, only getting onboard with Deltarune chapter one when it came out at a VERY weird time in my life, and then going back to Undertale so much later it was shortly after Chapter 2 came out. But ever since falling in (no pun intended) it's been hard to get out of the theory brainrot, it's truly special when a game does things like that to your mind. also something something Mad Mew Mew.
Chrono Trigger: Adjacent to the last one and I SWEAR that's crucial guys. Feels weird mentioning this because I've only personally played through to the end of the first dungeon but I've seen a very comprehensive Let's Play of it by a uh... recently retroactively unfortunate source I don't wanna dwell on. But that can't taint this entire game, it's too good for that. Very much a classic for a reason, with its incredible story, great soundtrack, some of the most gorgeous sights on the SNES, and a phenomenal cast of characters. Excited to finish playing through it myself, maybe starting from the top to do a let's play of my own.
Fighting Games Lightning Round: Lumping these together because. Yeah.
Smash: Yes Ultimate's the best one. Unless you care that much about that one Subspace cutscene with the ships flying and the main theme kicking in. Which case I respect that. Mains: Ridley, Dedede, and Bowser. God I wish I could do things as Rosalina.
Rivals of Aether: Going in I was expecting Melee pandering but no it's genuinely the best platform fighter aside from Smash, even entirely ignoring the custom content. I'm EXTREMELY excited for 2 it looks so good oh my GOD it can't happen fast enough. In the meantime I uh... guess I can try and beat Dungeons? I guess? Mains: Kragg and Olympia. Almost certainly gonna do my best with Loxodont and Fleet when 2 happens.
Street Fighter: My first foray into traditional fighters and hey, SF2 is as good a place as any to start. Very fun series to learn the history of, and serves as a good basis to learn other fighting games. Only really played 2, Alpha, and 3 with my sibling. Played like an hour of 4 and am looking to get 6 at some point. Mains: (not as attached to these as my mains for other games) Sagat, Cammy, Makoto, Elena. I feel like I have a hunch who I'd main from 6.
Skullgirls: Unfortunately has the second most "baggage" out of any games mentioned here (not elaborating, go research and form your own opinions), but past that this game is goooooooooooooood. Gorgeous art style and soundtrack, and gameplay that takes a minute to get into (god the tutorial can take a minute) but feels great even if you just barely know the basics. So far my favorite traditional fighter even if I'm scared to fight anybody who's actually decent at it. Mains: Big Band, Eliza, Robo Fortune, Valentine.
Darkstalkers: Only played this one really briefly and casually but god it's worth a mention. Literally the evolutionary midpoint between the past two, and it's fun getting to see where certain ideas from the latter got their inspiration from. Plus it's also just incredibly fun and stylish in its own right, gotta love a good ol' monster mash...ing each others face in. Please let this series come back as more than just waifu statues and crossover appearances. Main: Huitzil/Phobos.
Aaaaaaand that's it! All the major games and game series that currently come to mind as things I'm super passionate about. Obviously not a comprehensive list of every game I like ever, but these are the most special to me or interesting to talk about. Will probably do the followup post about shows... later. Not sure exactly when.

-A Kingdom Teeming with Variety – The Flower Kingdom is made up of six distinct worlds that circle the Petal Isles, giving you a total of seven areas to explore. Traverse multiple islands, dive into the sea and spelunk through caves. A rich variety of courses await in each world, and you can even walk freely through open areas you find on the world map.
-Wondering About Wonder Effects? Expect the Unexpected – Wonder Flowers thrive off this world’s mysterious power and release it when in bloom. When you touch a Wonder Flower in a course, a Wonder effect will trigger, causing dramatic changes. Pipes might start moving, the terrain may tilt, your perspective can change or you might float through space. There are even Wonders that can transform your character into a Goomba or a Spike-Ball.
-Charismatic Characters at Your Command – Besides Mario, you can also play as Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Blue Toad or Yellow Toad, and even Toadette. They all play the same, so go with your favorite or mix it up with someone different. Yoshis and Nabbit won’t take damage, so they’re a smart choice if you’re looking for a more easygoing experience.
-Plenty of Power-Ups – Super Mario Bros.
-Don’t Let Your Enemies Get the Best of You – When it comes to enemies, you’ll encounter new treacherous ones while traipsing through the Flower Kingdom. Hoppycats will copy you and jump when you jump. Melon Piranha Plants spit seeds from their mouths. Condarts will fly at you and stick their beaks into your business. Maw-Maws will eat anything that comes too close to their gaping mouths. There are many new enemies for you to discover.
-Equip a Badge to Mix It Up – As your adventure progresses, you’ll be able to earn a variety of different in-game badges, each with its own special ability. In local multiplayer, each group of players will use the same badge. Check out some of the fun options available:
Enhance your wall-jumping abilities with the Wall-Climb Jump badge.
Equip the Dolphin Kick badge to unleash an underwater burst of speed.
Charge up a bounding leap with the Crouching High Jump badge.
Shoot vines in mid-air and stick to walls with the Grappling Vine badge.
For a double-edged sword and an additional challenge, become invisible to your enemies (and yourself) with the Invisibility badge.
-Multiply the Fun with Local Multiplayer – Up to four people can play locally on the same Nintendo Switch system. If a player is defeated in local cooperative play, their character will float around the course as a ghost. If another player reaches them before time runs out, they’ll jump right back into action, and the group won’t lose any lives. If someone is playing as a Yoshi, you can jump on their back and ride them around the course. Giddy-up!
-Jump into Online Play – While playing online, you have the option of creating a room to get together with friends.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder is due out for Switch on October 20.

@moonkssd said: "To think Chief used to be so small. She fit into both your hands. It hasn't been that long since you were helping me feed and hold her. She's gotten so big and strong!"
“Yeah! It’s been … maybe a month? I guess some Pokémon grow faster than others. I know King Bowser stayed small for a very long time, but Lady first evolved in like, two months.”
But togepi’s first stage of evolution depends on the happiness factor. And ree doesn’t realize it, but they have a certain knack for making their Pokémon friendly.

“I’m kinda worried about her gettin’ too attached, though. you sure this is okay?”

Maybe to lean into the whole Bowser’s Inside Story for the ending. Maybe when the heroes think they’ve won, suddenly Dokutaro reveals his fake out and reveals like a new evolution. I imagine it being human but not too human in terms of body shape. And maybe he gets weapons as well? So that to lean into the whole ‘weapon creation’. And maybe the main characters are fighting against Dokutaro. While the rivals take on corrupted Terapagos. Imagine if Kieran managed to get the final punch in Dokutaro’s gut? That will be satisfying.
OOOOOOH I LIKE THIS! I dunno if I'll fully take a full-on humanoid route, but you did just give me the idea of "evolution" so thank you 😭
I'd like to see Kieran do that, tbh. Or smth happen with Dokutaro that involves Kieran. Maybe not right away! But
I'm still trying to tweak designs, so I'll try to keep his in mind as well! Keep being big-brained! /Gen

I really, really, really hope that the Mario Movie sequel(s) sets up an evolution between the gang and Bowser that leads to a canonical explanation of why they all go karting together.
Yes I know we got the awesome Kart sequence in the first one but I want to see the big turtle himself burning tires against Mario & co.
Working together to stop a bigger villain ? Battling in Bowser's castle and they gotta race towards the same goal ? Junior gets along with the Mario Bros and they all gotta play nice and pretend to have teeth-clenched fun ? Peach's hand is at stake again ? Luigi made fun of Bowser while he was locked in the cage and his first action when he escaped was to hijack a Kart and drive up to the bros's home "WHO'S READY FOR BRUSHIES BRUSHIES NOW, GREENIE ??" And it ends up in a Bowser vs Luigi while Mario is trying to catch up riding on Yoshi ?
So many possibilities! Just give me the Mario Kart sequence but with Bowser and Luigi this time !
Or any sports ! Strikers match ! A 20 minutes golfing sequence with high stakes ! The possession plot of Mario Tennis Aces!
