Navea headcanon
Before The Signal, Navea was sunk in a human war. Fortunately, she was still in good enough condition to be brought up from the dark, cold depths and be repaired.
However, once The Signal occurred, that memory of being sunk began to take on a much more terrifying meaning.
When the time came to fight the Outlanders, Navea was not looking forward to going back to the endless ocean. So instead, she enlisted for more land focused deployment.
While fighting on land was a bit of a struggle at first, she soon proved to be a strong leader, fierce protector, and brilliant tactician. Soon, she got upgrades and augments that made it much easier for her to fight on land (Hence why her current abilities mostly seem to be rather… fish out of water for a battleship).
Not long after, she met Calber, and the rest is history.
(Late response because I saw this at like 4 AM last night but) OOOOOOHHH THAT'S GOOD. I love the idea of giving this big, physically and functionally imposing, normally unflinchingly optimistic character a fear like that, especially one so ironic. Also just a cool way to explain why the navy-themed character isn't that aquatic anymore, but I like the extra layer of depth (no pun intended) this gives her too.
(Though speaking of puns and intentions, I gotta assume the phrasing "endless ocean" is deliberate pandering to me. Specifically. Which I also accept.)

in my head the star wars equivalent of tswift is some human woman named tay’lor spiff or something and her stans are losing their minds over theories that she’s secretly a jedi singing about the horrors of war, even though she’s from a neutral system that hasn’t seen so much as a moral panic in 50 years

My laptop is still out of commission for... who knows how long, but I had to borrow my younger sibling's laptop for DnD last night, and they graciously let me use it after I needed it, so I FINALLY had a chance to get back into my War Bots notes to make some long-overdue edits like the Harmony overhaul and some changes to streamline Yanno's kit, along with any other changes I could remember to add in. I was seriously up until like 4 AM just doing edits to the doc, that's how much I love working on it.
Those two specific main examples though actually bring up an interesting point. I've designed every character to have a set of 4 standard abilities: weapon primary fire and secondary fire, a body ability, and their accessory. Sometimes passives and special inputs add to this baseline count, but very rarely does anyone dip below it. Yanno is the first exception, as he has a primary fire (rocket launch), a secondary fire (a forward boost using his launcher that's on a cooldown), and an accessory (flaming mortar shot). His body equipment slot is just his passive, a pair of boots which boosts his air speed and control after being launched (original, I know). He used to have a forward point-blank blast similar to his boost ability, which was simply an attack that launches enemies. This felt clunky and unnecessary, not to mention redundant with Harmony's new weapon, so now he only has the three active abilities.
Speaking of Harmony though, she's in a weird spot where she only has 3 abilities and I don't know how to feel about it. She has her basic shotgun-ish Amp Cannon as her weapon, her team-defending Guardian Field as her body ability, and her projectile-deleting Null Pulse as *either* her weapon's secondary fire or her accessory slot. Both make just about as much sense, but the issue is what to put in the empty slot, if anything. Harmony is already defensively solid, she has self heal from her weapon, null pulse to delete projectiles in advance, and guardian field to tank damage directly away from her teammates. She's meant to be the most durable character in the cast, a frontline who can tank, heal off, or deny heavy damage while being capable of slow but solid close-range damage of her own. I don't think giving her mobility is a great fit, since having such a sturdy character flying across the map could be... an issue. I think the best niche a final part in her kit could fill is some sort of ranged attack, not as efficient of DPS but letting her pressure with damage from outside the fixed primary fire range, though the tricky thing is that in theory Null Wave could technically work as that in addition to its main purpose. She could also shoot two different kinds of ranged sound blasts, one that is only an attack and one that only absorbs attacks, but that feels potentially awkward and confusing to new players. I dunno, it's an awkward spot where my best ideas are giving her a ranged shot and leaving null wave as strictly defensive, or making null wave also an attack and leaving Harmony without an alt fire.
Either way I'm glad to have some progress jotted down in my notes again at long last. The computer situation may be getting worse before it gets better, but at least I managed to do this much.

Not entirely inaccurate, but the rules of the game change *per episode*, meaning that each episode is effectively a unique show of its own rules, and thus the players don't know what to brace for. Sometimes there's twists mid-episode, but the title is more referring to the overall concept of the game being different every episode.
The show is part of a small streaming service of all original shows called Dropout, along with a show called "Make Some Noise" which is a spinoff of one of the Game Changer episodes that's all impression/improv prompts. Some episodes of both shows are on youtube from the official channel, along with highlight clips via shorts.
Even just the sample episodes are riots I rewatch semi-frequently so even as someone who doesn't have Dropout I can highly recommend at least just watching those.
what is that game changer show i keep seeing clips of and tumblrinas raving about

I know a mirrorverse AU season theme would always fall short of expectations just because people want *every* character to be a part of it and that's clearly just not how these seasonal events work, but at this point I more so don't know how to feel about the game mode itself.
I always enjoy when they get to experiment with whacky new ability ideas for existing heroes (yes I'm aware a lot of these and the april fool's changes are probably just reusing... y'know) but it feels like they didn't quite go as far as they probably could have and should have.
The mode actually replicates normal role queue Overwatch with normal maps and everything, which is honestly more than I was expecting, but what is lacking is the roster size. 3 tanks, 5 damage, 4 supports. That's it. Not unplayable, but you get bored quickly since you can't swap roles mid-game, which feels like such a weird choice for an arcade event mode. The characters chosen are weird too, since your options are the 3 who got Overwatch skins, the 5 Talon skins, Null Sector Zenyatta... and then Gwinshin Bastion and *Stealth* Echo?? Y'know, one of her default legendary skins because heroes used to have those. I mean I think Bastion is a smart use of an old cool skin that fits the theme, but that Echo is an odd choice. What's more bizarre is that not all the mirrorwatch skins that we did get are in the mode. No Hashimoto Hanzo or Kiriko (tragic I know), and no Junker Symmetra or Genji. Also no Junker D.va, which again feels like a missed opportunity to make use of another old skin. There's probably other old skins I'm not thinking of that would fit the theme, but no others are coming to mind. Maybe Monk Ramattra?
Now for the actual mirrorverse reworks, I'm mixed on them overall. My main issue is that some of the DPS have support-like abilities but no healing, and *all* the supports have changes that push them more towards damage. The tanks feel fine enough I think, and half the DPS are fine, but man I do kinda wish they went all the way and... oh i dunno... do more full reworks to swap some hero roles entirely? Like hey, Sombra feels like more of a support with her friendly hack and debuffing virus, while Widowmaker has a barrier instead of venom mine...
...hey wait a minute.
Well folks, if you wanted Role Requeue to come back then... too bad it's still not gonna, but if it's any consolation this mode... *kinda* has the same spirit. Vaguely. In a couple places.
Actually the real highlight I'll say is Bastion's ult. Not gonna say what it is, just check it yourself or look it up if someone has footage of it already. Trust me it justifies this whole event.
But yeah, it's not hard to at least entertain me with any kind of ability reworks, but this mode has some weird missed potential. The cast is tiny, there's a lot of unchanged voice lines that break the "illusion" of the mode, and the kits don't feel as cohesive as they could be and almost feel like a retread of April Fool's but with marginally higher production value. Shoot, Bastion just has his shotgun from a few weeks ago all the time in this mode. Not complaining, I endorse laziness if it leads to something enjoyable, but the mode just misses the mark in the weirdest ways. I really wish they give this event a "round 2" later on even with just a few more heroes, maybe changing some roles or other details around with the existing ones. I don't think it's awful as-is, but it has a lot more potential than other similar recent event modes.
