So this is probably really stupid to find interesting, but I watched a video about the evolution of King K. Rool over the years, and it's pretty clear to see that his golden belly armour being just that, armour, and not a part of his body is a pretty recent thing, which was seemingly introduced in Smash Ultimate. In his debut appearance in DKC, it does seem to be made of gold:

That's pretty clearly the same material on his crown, cuffs and belly, right? And as his cuffs and crown are clearly just accessories and not part of his body, it would be natural to assume that so is his belly armour. I'm actually not sure if this is the case, however, since I've never read the manual the game clearly expects you to have read, can't find a video of someone hitting him from the front to see what kind of sound effect it makes, and haven't gotten to the final boss of DKC myself yet (I'm stuck on Chimp Caverns, lol). So as far as this installment goes, with my limited knowledge, I could go either way (K. Rool experts, feel free to weigh in).

From this point forth, his belly armour remains golden for some time, and I don't believe an answer to whether it's part of him or not is given in any of the several games he appears in up until Smash Melee.

Then, suddenly, in DK King of Swing on the GBA, his belly armour is made of skin.

This change then remains consistent from this point up until Smash Ultimate, and K. Rool actually does appear in a surprising amount of games up until then, featuring in Barrel Blast, Super Mario Sluggers, and even in Brawl as a trophy.

Finally, after Brawl, his next appearance is in Smash Ultimate, in which we finally get a solid answer: it's a metal chestplate. Apparently. Despite the long string of games before in which it was clearly flesh. In Ultimate, this is even of mechanical importance, as it can be worn down and eventually broken by attacks, which stuns K. Rool and leaves him vulnerable. He can also use it to parry attacks, so it has multiple associated mechanics. This cracked texture would be kind of gross if it was made of tough skin instead of metal, so maybe that's why they made the change.

I also discovered that whether or not he has a tail, and how long it is, is wildly inconsistent. In Melee he has a short tail, in Brawl he does not, in Ultimate he has a nubby one yet again, and in DK64 he has a properly long crocodile tail longer than his legs. Weird.

I LOVE MOTHER 3 and i love the main three villain bads so i figured i might be using this blog mor. why not post a piece from a small while bacck. im probs doing better now but i dont think this sketch is SO Bad. i mainly did this one to practice eyes, a grueling task but it turned out that the interpreter's eyestyle is the one that began to stick to me. ill probably figure out how the hell to draw new fassad in the future... im stil learning...

some design(headcanon(?)) stuff id like to elab on for fassad:

fassad wears the vest n clothes hes known for when blending in with the villager,s, but when he is out doing more nasty work for master king p he uses a more army-fit uniform. i also like to think he has a cape similar to the colonels but capes and jetpacks dont go good together

i coulda probably made his horns bigger here. or maybe theyre better off a little smaller? big horns adds to the menace ngl

i didnt realize how many people DONT do the pigsnout hat button thing but apparently most?? i started doing it at some point and now it just feels right

chimera fassad no longer needs to appeal to the villagers because as far as they know he is missing, so being a chimera means he gets to go harder with the evil villain look. serpent-like robo eye included.

chimera fassad also has a more scruffy screwed up stache

has a pretty feminine looking face. hes a magypsy. maybe he also still has magypsy habits? ionia says they need makeup to use psi so maybe fassasshole secretly wears some very hard to see lipstick

^^or maybe its more a thing about how the makeup makes them feel and the horns make him feel beautiful which is why he can use psi??? lore

would do the anime glasses flash

the weird lamp thing on her head lights up and dims down depending on how tired she is and she is often a very tired robot

anyway, this art was actually a little while ago so im really just dropping it to dump a bunch of fassad/interpreter headcanons here. mother 3 is my favorite game. fassad is a super underrated villain for carrying the first five chapters and his dorky interpreter's design i always really found endearing. who knows??? maybe ill redraw?...

evil weegee.

idea where luigi becomes evil one way or another (i’m into the idea of it being a wish-turned-curse-situation) and mario and bowser have to team up to figure out wtf happened and to stop luigi from causing mass destruction.

bowuigi bonus: relationship is pre-established meaning luigi is ruling koopa kingdom alongside bowser. perhaps luigi is self-conscious and feels like he isn’t seen as a leader, leading luigi to make a well-intentioned wish to be taken more seriously. the wish is warped and turns into a curse, turning him into a wicked ruler that takes over koopa kingdom, and his subordinates follow him out of fear rather than respect, when deep down respect is really all he wanted. it starts internally by luigi kinda turning against bowser (confusing the hell out of the poor guy) and just gets worse from there. bowser’s dismayed because both his husband and his kingdom have been yoinked away from him, so he begrudgingly has to team up with mario and peach and whoever else to get everything back.🤠

i kinda wanna write a whole fic now but i honestly am not as well-versed in mario lore as i used to be and haven’t played any of the games in years 😭😭 but ngl drawing evil luigi was fun. low key been in love with luigi since i was 8 years old so it was quite cathartic for me

EDIT: guys i know Mr L exists 😩 i knew of him when i drew this but not exactly who he was/what he did. but i still wanna try to make my own thing here/try to differentiate them LOL. there can be multiple flavors of evil right

Something something Ganondorf being born into a tribe that is always on the outskirts, explicitly coded as POC no matter how fantastical they get.

Something something power not just being magic or a crown but a dominating force in the world. Being the ones who make the rules, who say go, who have access to resources to make life better. Power as a ticket to fighting oppression.

Something something Ganondorf needing power to make the world better for HIS people. the tribe he’s responsible for. Ganondorf not just needing power but Wisdom to know how to lead and Courage to effect change when no one will listen. Ganondorf seeing the green hills of Hyrule and knowing he could lead his people out of the desert and into the promised land.

Something something the corrupting force of power. No matter how small a little bit corrupts your soul and turns you greedy. No matter how good your intentions Power will always twist and writhe and claw at any bit of your heart it can to twist it into something unimaginable and unrecognizable from what you first wanted.

Something something fairytales always twisting wishes into what they wanted but there always being some kind of awful twist or catch one has to deal with. How one’s intentions are always different than the outcome.

Something something the Triforce of Power ending up in the hands of a man with good intentions and a selfish heart, splitting so he can never have the full means to truly lead his people to the land he wished for them.

A little bit of a Bowuigi/Booigi promt

Racing competition in where Luigi is riding a motorcycle but his helmet hide his face and the motorcycle doesn’t have his classic colors on sense his usual is in the shops

So Bowser and/or king boo have no idea who Luigi is just that this mysterious motorcycle person is hot as fuck and cool as fuck

Once they finally found out who it is, they’re more surprised about the fact that it brought them more joy like “ oh my stars it’s a Luigi… why am I blushing more?!?!”

(bonus, if you thought of this as a king boo and Bowser instead of king, boo or Bowser, imagine they’re both low-key gushing to each other about the mysterious motorcycle person

When they both find out, it’s Luigi, they bully the other for crushing on him, even though they themselves are blushing as bright as the lava in Bowser’s kingdom )
