so hiccup and toothless have to work together to fly right. toothless does something, hiccup adjusts his foot to accomodate for it. if they don't do the proper tail positionings, they immediately fall out of the sky. all of this is immensely funny if you think about it while watching the scene where toothless is doing spins and dunking into water and stuff in order to make astrid apologise.

Do you all ever wonder what stoick told everyone when hiccup and the others just fucking left on their dragon’s to live on an island? The chiefs son, Astrid and Fishlegs, the prankster twins, and whatever the fuck Snotlout has going on just flew off into the sunset after some guy named Daggur just escaped prison and is very pissed off with hiccup and stoick??

I finally watched Gift of the Night Fury and I gotta say this is my favorite characterization of Astrid ever. Like I have no hate against her she’s always just been a yeah she’s cool kinda character to me but her being so optimistic in gotnf bordering on manic is so good to me. Her trying her best to forcefully bring cheer during sad times is so entertaining and gives her the chaotic touch that I always felt her character was missing. And those moments when it’s apparent that she’s really bad at comforting people sometimes is so funny to me it makes her feel a little more real.
Also I think the art style really helped I don’t know how to explain it other than it feels like they syringe fed like two tiny droplets of Tim Burton into it - it gives all the characters a slightly insane look in their eyes favorite animation style for em yet <3

Maybe I said it before but it DESERVES to be said again, Cicero was ABSOLUTELY in the right and it’s even told to us at the end of the storyline but also Astrid fucking broke EVERY SINGLE RULE the Brotherhood ever stood for OVER THE COURSE OF THE GAME, further proving she was never qualified to be a leader in the first place
Tenet I. Never dishonor the Night Mother. To do so is to invoke the Wrath of Sithis.
A good majority of the questline focuses on Astrid not respecting the Night Mother in the slightest, she doesn’t even welcome her into Sanctuary to begin with
Tenet II. Never betray the Dark Brotherhood or its secrets. To do so is to invoke the Wrath of Sithis.
Astrid betrays the entire brotherhood and has their Sanctuary burned to the ground because she ratted the player out to the penitus oculatus
Tenet III. Never disobey or refuse to carry out an order from a Dark Brotherhood superior. To do so is to invoke the Wrath of Sithis.
After the player is revealed to be the listener, they effectively become Astrid’s superior. She tells the player not to go to Amaund Motierre after the Night Mother explicitly told them to. Astrid’s exact words are “No. No! Listen, I don’t know what’s going on here, but you take your orders from me. Are we clear on that?” Eventually, she does come around, but it’s undeniable that she refused the order from her superior. And it’s not as if she didn’t know, the player had to tell her the words the Night Mother told them to confirm that they were indeed the Listener. In Cicero’s journals, it tells us that nobody but higher ups such as himself and Astrid knew these words. Cicero as her keeper, and Astrid as the leader.
Edit: Passage from Cicero’s Journals, in reference to what I said about only Higher Ups knowing the words
4th of Evening Star, 4E 189 Today, Rasha declared himself Listener, claiming the Night Mother spoke to him at last. But when questioned, he could not name the Binding Words. Liar! Deceiver! His charade must not stand.
Tenet IV. Never steal the possessions of a Dark Brother or Dark Sister. To do so is to invoke the Wrath of Sithis.
Astrid tells you to go through Cicero’s room and steal his journals. That’s how we know he went to the Dawnstar sanctuary.
Tenet V. Never kill a Dark Brother or Dark Sister. To do so is to invoke the Wrath of Sithis.
Need I even say it? Astrid commands you to kill Cicero at the Dawnstar Sanctuary, which you may or may not do as the player.
I love the writing of the questline, it’s chefs kiss

I imagine Essek had this moment of recognition with Astrid and Eadwulf while they were all in the Blooming Grove, similar to how Kima was like “sword lesbian recognize sword lesbian” with Yasha. They all looked at each other and went “neutral evil wizard with complicated feelings for Caleb and a weird relationship to their homeland recognize neutral evil wizard with complicated feelings for Caleb and a weird relationship to their homeland,” and they didn’t need to discuss it any further. Their relationship is not affectionate at all, but it is not hostile. It can’t even really be called professional. It’s just there, and it’s a relationship of few words, but enough understanding.
And Astrid. Astrid Beck, my most beloved. Her relationship with Caleb hurts, if she’s being honest. But so does her relationship with Eadwulf, even though it’s a different kind of hurt. She is just full of trauma and I don’t think there is anything in her life that isn’t filtered through it, so everything is just kinda painful.
But I imagine that after taking on the role of Archmage, Astrid feeds Essek just enough intel to steer clear of the Assembly's ire, but they don't talk at all beyond that. So like, they don't really know anything about each other, but they are still offering up a lot of trust. It creates this weird intimacy of knowing someone's greatest secrets (Astrid, about Essek) and having seen them at their lowest point (Essek, about Astrid) and sharing a weakness (both of them, for Caleb). But at the same time, there is a massive divide between them that, for a myriad of reasons, will never ever be bridged. They both know this, so they won't even try.
They do not have a relationship, but there is still so much to it, you feel me?

🚨 Heads-up to small business owners 🚨
If someone slides into your DM offering a quick fix solution to boost your sales, they are nearly 100% for sure attempting to grab you by your ankles and shake you for as much cash as they can get out of you.
Instead, P L E A S E do your own reading of marketing blogs, test stuff out and see what sticks for YOUR shop and YOUR audience!
Community building is a very valid way to get started. Victoria Tran (from Among Us) has great insights on how to build an engaged and interested community.
You can also look at resource guides posted by social media management tools, such as Hubspot or Sprout Social. Pinterest's trend reports are a great way to stay in the know about emerging and predicted trends.
More than anything: look at what your peers are doing. See what works, see what doesn't, and TEST TEST TEST. Some things will flop, other things will stick. The algorithm is doing whatever, so A/B test and find what works for you.
And when one of those marketing "quick fix" con men moseys into your inbox, be sure to laugh. Laugh loudly. Point and then laugh even more. And then chase. them. out. <3

Headcanon that Maverick adopts a retired base security dog once he retires, who unintentionally helps with his PTSD
He's wanted a dog his whole life, but his job negated that as a possibility. He loved his old family dog (the one we see in the photos on his bedside table in TG86) but he joined the navy so young he never got to have one of his own. After about a month of retirement and just sitting around completing small project after small project and waking up most nights to nightmares (about the accident of 86 and the uranium mission and darkstar, the list is endless) he decides he needs some routine company. Obviously Bradley and the rest of the dagger squad are working and when they're not he can't ask them to hang around for their whole leave, they have lives, so he goes to the Hard Deck a bit and hangs out with penny. There he sees Theo again and remembers how much he wants a dog. Maverick comes from foster homes and child care, so he's not entirely keen to just adopt from a breeder, he wants to rescue a dog. It's actually Hondo who puts the idea in his head about the retiring Top Gun base security dogs who will need homes. So he puts his name on a list. Two months pass when he gets an unexpected call from Top Gun. He panics a bit, thinking they've dug up some old dirt on him, but instead it's a nice woman telling him that a lovely eight year old, female belgian Malinois named Astrid who is retiring in a week, needs a home. He jumps on the opportunity, saying yes and immediately going out to buy everything he'll need, toys, beds, treats, the best brand of dog food. He feels a little over prepared in the end, like he has too many things. He does as much research into malinois as he can in the interim. He attends the retirement ceremony after everything is arranged and the hand over is seemless.
He now owns a dog.
Adjusting to life with a high energy working dog takes him a couple days, but they settle into a routine nicely. She joins him on his early morning 5 mile runs around his property, they do training sessions in the afternoons, he takes her into town for long walks. It's the first night he has a nightmare after he adopted her that he realises this was the best decision of his life. He can't breathe and he's sweating and he's panicking again, but suddenly he feels this gently pressure on his thigh and it brings him back to reality. Astrid had gently rested her head on him, applying careful pressure to ground him. He made sure to reward her for that, a few treats and lots of love. He made sure she knew she was welcome to sleep in the bed from then on. She was always keeping an eye on him after that. Maverick likes to think he needed her just as much as she needed him. They became inseparable. She went everywhere with him. Bradley was stoked that Mav had gotten a dog, coming around more to play with her often. It warms Maverick's heart to see them together.
These days, you can often find Maverick taking long walks along the beach at sun set, throwing the ball for Astrid while he watches the Top Gun students return from their afternoon hop. He thought he would hate retirement, but Astrid gave him a reason to look forward to every day

This is Not CoD related, but infact having to do with the HTTYD live action that's coming out.
More specifically one problem that I'm seeing almost IMMEDIATELY and I hate it so I'm going to talk about it
Ok Before I actually get into it I want to preface with this: Not everyone is going to agree with me, some people might even think I'm incredibly wrong. And that's okay because this is my opinion and you have yours, and I, infact, am not saying that you have to take my opinion as fact
Anyway! SO the HTTYD live action has started filming. There's been talk about it for years, I'll be honest, I never really thought it would happen. Especially not this soon after the third movie.
Whether I'm excited for this film or not is yet to be seen. On one hand I definitely don't believe anything could top the original. And live actions are not always the best remake, especially for animated movies like this one. But on the other hand they DO have Dean Deblois back, and they've kept the original actor for Stoick, so at least we'll recognize one voice. Also I have high hopes for the soundtrack, since John Powell will be back. But again I'm still skeptical about the movie.
What I really wanted to talk about is, I just saw a tiktok talking about the movie (TT user: Straw Hat Goofy), I don't really have much to say about the video itself, it was good informationally. But I wanted to talk about the comments.
So as was stated in the video and confirmed officially, Actress: Nico Parker will be cast to play Astrid. Fine, dandy, lovely, I see no problem. Apparently not everyone thinks this way...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Ignore my shitty editing to scribble out usernames and pfps)
Theres more. A lot more :(
Not the only reason I can see people actually complaining about the casting of Nico parker is (apparently) blatant racism.
Like I understand that the original movies Astid was a blue-eyed, blonde haired girl, but I don't think this slight change should be that big of a deal. If her acting is shit, historically, she wouldn't have been cast. And her appearance (especially something she CANNOT change about herself) WILL NOT make or break the movie.
Let me repeat that
NICO PARKER'S SKIN COLOR WILL NOT MAKE THE MOVIE SHITTY
Guys, this is the same thing that happened/is happening with the Percy Jackson series, people objected to Leah Jeffries being casted as Annabeth. But Leah is a phenomenal actor, and in my opinion, is the perfect actress for the role.
If you really have a problem with Astrid not looking like she did in the animated movies then DON'T WATCH the live action. Simple as that. Ignorance is bliss in this case, so be blissful. It's 2024 people are dying, people are living, and people still can't change the color of their skin (nor should they have to (or want to, especially if it's only to fit society) even if they could)
