Tommy as the catalyst for Eddie realizing his friendship with Buck isn't a typical male friendship. He and Tommy hang out and shoot the shit over sports, they don't talk about his kid or about how he's doing in therapy or their childhood trauma. What he has with Buck is different. It's deep. It's to the core.
Tommy as the catalyst for Buck realizing not everyone gets jealous over a friend like that - that his feelings for Eddie are different than his feelings for his other friends. He doesn't care that Chim and Tommy hang out. He has no problem when Hen has to blow him off for Karen. But Eddie? It hurts seeing him laughing and smiling with someone else.
Something about the way Tommy brings out different aspects in both Buck and Eddie and those aspects are what make them realize their own relationship goes beyond friendship. Because Eddie can bro out with Tommy like he doesn't with Buck and Tommy with Eddie makes Buck jealous in a way he hasn't been in years, when he was worried Eddie was there to take his place.
Tommy: Hey, are you two dating?
Buck: H-huh? No, we're just partners.
Eddie: Yeah, what he said.
Tommy: Cool, so I'm going to take you on a date tonight. You like watching UFC?
Eddie, blinking: What.
Buck: Hey, what the heck -
Tommy, smoothly interjects: And you, you can take me out on a date tomorrow, handsome.
Buck, blinking even harder: What.
me and the amazing @meepmoopdraws2 decided to do another collab to celebrate the new weewoo show season coming!
we gave each other prompts and drew our parts according to those, Sam gave me the incredible prompt of Eddie finally breaking down in 6x12 when he's left alone with Buck🫶
My catholic raised ass saw that shot of Eddie and thought about religion (specially the stations of the cross, more specifically station 10).
Do I think this was on purpose? No probably not. Do I think the image of Eddie with his arms spread and his clothes being torn off his body is extremely symbolic anyway? Yeah I do.
