jake found himself in the busy yet strangely comforting café near campus. It was a place where he could focus on his studies (well, technically he wasnt studying, just looking at his screen trying to look as smart as his friend heeseung, without distractions. and it didn't hurt that you, the cute barista had quickly become a highlight of his visits. he didnt know your name, but it didnt stop him from spending hours at that crammed coffee shop just to admire your form. jay told him to just stop being a weirdo and drop his unrequited admiration, which he just ignored

But wait a minute while I make you mine, make you mine

you were vibrant and kind, always greeting him with a warm smile as he ordered his usual drink ( a taro milk tea with peach bubbles and cheese foam). he'd admire you from afar, secretly harboring a crush that seemed to grow with each passing day. But he didn't have the courage to tell you how he felt, fearing rejection or making things awkward. he didnt want you to think that hes a weirdo, or worse, like sunghoon.

every day, he would visit the shop, hoping for a chance to exchange a few words with you, mostly talking aboit his annoying professor and you questioning his choice of beverage. he would spend hours at a table, pretending to work on his assignments while secretly stealing glances at you. just hearing your name leave your coworkers lips makes him feel giddy

I'm all nervous 'cause you're on my mind all the time

on a seemingly mundane monday, he entered the café, his mind preoccupied with you instead of his upcoming biology exam. as he approached the counter, his heart skipped a beat. there you stood, smiling at him and beautiful as ever with your cute green apron draped around your frame. he couldnt stop the scenarios of you two cooking together in his apartment form in his head

"hello my friend! the usual again?" you have asked, shaking your head with that intoxicating smile "you know, you should start drinking something else, its going to mess up your bowls. we dont want the fiasco from last week repeating, do we?"

all jake could do was lower his head in embarrassment. he remembered telling you about how he shat his pants in the middle of his anatomy exam, excusing himself to the restroom where he found brown spots coating his jeans.

"yeah i think thats a great idea" he muttered out with faux confidence, good job jaeyun "just give me whatever you like. i know you have great taste" (in men, please date me)

I'm usually pretty talkative, what's wrong with me?

after he paid for his drink and definitely overpriced sandwich, he made his way to his regular table by the window, where he could peacefully enjoy his meal and fantasize about you without any disturbance.

but he noticed something different. there, written in a messy yet delicate handwriting, was your name and number. his eyes widened with surprise, a mix of excitement and nervousness flooding in his veins. he gazed at the cup for what seems like hours, a chaotic mess of thoughts swirling in his mind. could this be an accident? was this meant for someone else? he was going to kill that lucky asshole if it was. or was it a genuine invitation? were you flirting with him? THE yn?

I don't know where my head was at when I ranked this the worst song on the album. Clearly, I was wrong. This song was a pleasant companion during the autumn months, and I can't wait to see what else they come out with.

3 - Chaconne - ENHYPEN

Do you know what a chaconne is? That's not a rhetorical question btw. No shade either, I'm just curious. For those who don't know, a chaconne is a rhythmical and harmonic motif over a pronounced bass-line. That's my leftover understanding from music classes taken a lifetime ago. According to google, a chaconne is also "a slow, solemn dance in 3/4 time, of Spanish or Moorish origin, similar to the passacaglia." For a non-k-pop example, I recommend Hilary's rendition of Bach's chaconne (more leftover knowledge from a lifetime ago).

Anyway, this likely isn't important context. The use of "chaconne" in the song probably has more to do with how it sounds in the song, than what it means. In any case, Enhypen earned a gold star from me with this pantydropper anthem.

2 - Criminal Love - ENHYPEN

I'm not sure how many of you were here when Heartbeat and Dream Glow were released. What I remember was shock, pure incredulity that BigHit would release songs of that quality for game OSTs. From ARMYs and k-pop stans alike, this was the sentiment. It was like a flex that BTS had such a peerless discography they could make songs like this for a side gig.

That's immediately what I was reminded of when I first heard Criminal Love, released as the OST for Enhypen's webtoon. It's moody, vampy, seduction in a song. That's what that song is. Sad too, when you hear the lyrics. Watching the live performance only drives it home.

1 - Blind - ENHYPEN

This song has given me one of the best auditory experiences I've ever had in k-pop. Which is a bit odd because yes a lot happens in the production, but the switches are so subtle you almost don't notice it.

Heeseung, Ni-ki, Jay, Sunoo, Sunghoon, Jake, and Jungwon - all outdid themselves on this song. Vocally, they sound incredible. The writing, (again) is top notch. This is one of the only songs released this year that I genuinely struggle not to loop.

5 - Yes or No - Jung Kook

This is one song I'm praying and begging that we get thousands of remixes of. HYBE, please work your magic and give us 10 remixes of Yes or No. I need it. This is the perfect pop song in that it makes you crave more. I know it's got a predictable, common almost, chord progression in VI -> V -> I -> IV, but it's perfect in that it's impossible to get sick of it. It just worms itself into your head and all you can think of is all the ways to sing all over those chords.

Jung Kook's vocal work on that song is irreproachable. He's really set himself apart with this album and I'm glad he did it.

4 - Snooze - AGUST D, ft. Ryuichi Sakamoto & Woosung

HUH?! should be here, as should Amygdala so consider this a triple entry: HUH + Snooze + Amygdala. The reason why is self-evident (I hope).

Anyway... I want to talk a bit about Snooze.

Yoongi loves using the piano. He likes the sound of it, and you can tell in songs like Snooze. He has such a profound love and respect for that musical instrument that it only makes sense a man like Ryuichi acknowledged Yoongi before he passed.

With everything that happened this year, remembering Moonbin, and knowing that Yoongi made this song for his juniors... the first time I heard this song it completely destroyed me. Anyone who hasn't paid attention to the lyrics yet should check it.

When I casually listen in to TXT, SVT, Enhypen, BoyNextDoor, and see the work they're doing, putting out easily some of the best music and performances in their generations, I hope and pray they develop a support system that genuinely values them, soon. I hope they survive this industry, and thrive in it.

3 - All Day - RM ft Tablo

Not to be that person (since he's canceled for reasons and it actually makes sense why), but when I first saw the song title All Day, I immediately remembered All Day by Kanye West - one of the sauciest and meanest songs he's ever made. I was worried, given the tone of the album to that point, that Namjoon was going to give us his take on Ye's original. Joon is more than capable of dropping a track just as mean if not more. I didn't put it past him to pay homage to the Kanye joint by taking a spin on it. But, thankfully, All Day is nothing like Kanye's song, and it's my favourite song on Indigo because it's the best.

Joon's diction on this track is *chef's kiss*. His voice.... that outro, and thank goodness, Tablo came through. He actually has a presence on the track and made it even more worth the listen.

It kills me that we don't even have a visualizer for this masterpiece.

2 - Set Me Free Pt 2 - Jimin

Thank you for giving me another chance to talk about Set Me Free Pt 2.

One reason all the anxiety and fear-mongering around Jimin seems insane to me is because Jimin dropped this song and ended k-pop in 2023. He literally has no real competition. He came in, showed out, and left. That song is the sexiest joint out of Korea this year. It's so nasty. He's absolutely disgusting on this song in how brutally he makes rubbish of everything beneath him. Like, he literally has people bowing down to him in the choreography. Bobbing their heads like Funko Pops, while he sings to be set free. I'm going on a bit of a tangent here, but I want to say something. There's a cruelty in the way Jimin speaks. Whether to someone else or to himself. It's often (somewhat) restrained, born of the way he sees the world I think, and it was especially brutal in their early days, but he's toned it down significantly since 2016. It's virtually non-existent in his speech patterns and word choice now. Jimin of the last few years communicates gently, directly, tactfully, and at worst, bluntly. A lot of that cruelty is toned down but he unleashes a whisper of it on SMF Pt 2. Just listen to what he's saying on that song. That autotune effect on his voice was for our benefit and safety. Nothing can convince me otherwise. And we haven't even yet gotten into the full symbolism of the MV and his lyricism...

The moment I heard this song I knew I would bias Jimin. He's a man who knows what he's doing.

Jimin is a one of a kind wonder. Real magic in a person. An artist. He proves it on Set Me Free Pt 2. Kudos to PDogg too - the GOAT.

When it comes to song construction, I have to give credit where credit is due and the fact is Hoseok outdid himself with this song. It is perfect, my top pick for a k-pop song in 2023. Jermaine did good on it too. But, you know... Hoseok.

The whistle melody he came up with, the beat, the vocal layering, the mixing, the MV direction - all of it is perfect. If we were giving scores based on separate components, OTS would get 10s in every category.

Honestly, Hoseok coming out at number 1 is kind of expected of him lol.

I listen to them a lot. i listen to japanese pop as well, such as aimer, yoasobi, fujii kaze, and CHiCO with HoneyWorks! wave to earth, AKMU, lucy, and yerin baek are my favorites k-bands. indonesian songs i often listen to are from nadin amizah and tulus! last but not least, i looooove listening to sudio ghibli's soundtrack!

i love watching movies 📽, especially anime! studio ghibli and anime movies take up the biggest part of my movie interest. here are some of my favorites anime movies: The Secret World Of Arietty, When Marnie Was There, Whisper Of The Heart, Nausicaä Of The Valley of The Wind, Howl Moving Castle, Suzume, The Garden Of Words, Your Name, A Silent Voice, Summer Ghost, and Belle. lately, i've been interested in watching k-drama! my favorite k-drama all the time: Twenty-Five Twenty-One, 20th Century Girl, A-Teen, Class Of Lies, School 2017, Weak Hero Class, and Wightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo.

of course, don't forget about this one! series and western films. honestly, I can say that I'm not really into western movies . . . but in this past year, after i finished the Harry Potter series, i decided to watch western movies more often! 🪄✋🏻 and let me tell you my current favorites: Harry Potter, Stranger Things, Wednesday, Gilmore Girls, Princess Diaries, Enola Holmes, and Miss Perigrine's Home For Peculiar Children. 🎞

Embraced by the timeless allure of long black dresses on Christmas Eve‚ we‚ LE SSERAFIM‚ dazzled the red carpet of SBS Gayo Daejeon 2023 with our modest yet chic look. SBS Gayo Daejeon 2023’s line-up included several idols‚ including AESPA‚ ITZY‚ IVE‚ NMIXX‚ NEWJEANS‚ STRAY KIDS‚ THE BOYZ‚ ENHYPEN‚ STAYC‚ (G)I-DLE선배 and many more. The event took place at Inspire Arena in the evening of December 25‚ 2023. We began with an astonishing and breathtaking intro to our performance‚ which was followed by a rendition of our recent popular song‚ “The Eve‚ Psyche‚ and the Bluebeard’s Wife”‚ before concluding with a festive rendition of our holiday remix of “Perfect Night”. During this year-end event‚ each of the artists showcased their holiday‚ christmas‚ and other versions of their published songs‚ and they all did amazingly well in each of their performances. Bravo to all the artists that did exceptionally well covering songs by our 선배s in the k-pop music industry‚ it was a job well done. I’m positive that 선배s were certainly pleased with the performance they displayed because it was honestly an outstanding performances. your head was rested against his forearm, with the voice of your homeroom teacher muffled in the background. there they go again niki chuckled to himself, finding your words strangely amusing

in a seemingly endless loop, you poured out your heart, to niki time and time again. at his house, on your (platonic!) walks at night and now in class. each time, he responded with a laugh, a sparkle in his eyes, and a lighthearted remark that danced in the air. with each passing moment spent together, your infatuation for him grew, intensifying the butterflies that fluttered wildly in your stomach.

at first, you found comfort in his laughter, feeling proud of yourself for being the reason of his momentary happiness.

but as the confessions persisted, doubts began to sneak in. "am I bothering him?" you wondered , guilt and doubt creeping into you.

days turned into weeks, and you found yourself growing even more weary of pouring your heart out to someone who seemed uninterested. with a heavy heart, you resolved to stop with the confessions, fearing you were only annoying niki, a playful game that he enjoyed. you longed for a connection that went beyond friendship, but jeopardizing what you both had right now is far from what you wanted

MANUAL

Aku hanya menerima commission dalam bentuk narasi berbahasa Indonesia. Terbuka untuk SFW dan NSFW (no minor); bxb, gxg, dan bxg.

Ide cerita 100% akan berasal dari kamu, tugasku adalah menyusunnya saja. Jadi semakin detail prompt yang kamu sampaikan, akan semakin mudah buat aku menuliskannya.

Aku berhak menolak ide ceritamu jika aku tidak bisa mengeksekusinya.

Waktu menulisku ada di rentang 7-50 hari, bisa lebih cepat atau lambat tergantung tingkat kesulitan, tapi aku akan terus mengabari kamu terkait hal ini.

Hasil commission akan dikirim dalam bentuk PDF lewat email dan sifatnya privat sampai kamu mengizinkan aku mempublikasikannya.

PEMESANAN & PEMBAYARAN

Pastikan kamu sudah melihat status ketersediaan commision di bagian atas postingan ini. Jika tersedia, silakan DM aku dengan ide cerita/prompt, pairing, beserta jumlah kata jika yang kamu inginkan adalah commission one-shot. Kamu juga boleh memberikan lagu, penggalan lirik, atau foto sebagai tambahan inspirasiku menulis. Sampaikan juga detail-detail trivia yang kamu mau lihat dalam tulisan jika ada.

Pembayaran commission one-shot akan dilakukan dalam dua tahap, yakni DP dan pelunasan. Sebelum aku mulai menulis, kamu bisa mengirim DP 50% dari estimasi harga total, kemudian melunasinya ketika tulisan sudah seluruhnya jadi. Perlu dicatat bahwa aku baru akan mengirimkan tulisan jika pesananmu sudah terbayar penuh.

Pembayaran commission puisi dan surat akan langsung dilakukan penuh setelah aku selesai menulis. Tapi seperti one-shot, aku baru akan mengirimkan hasilnya setelah transaksi masuk.

Pembayaran melalui Trakteer dan DANA. Jika melalui Trakteer, harga di akhir akan ditambah 5% dari total keseluruhan sebagai biaya admin website. Pembayaran yang sudah masuk tidak bisa di-refund.

CATATAN

Aku punya gaya menulis yang cukup fleksibel. Baku dan puitis sampai lowercase crack, kamu boleh request sesuai preferensimu.

Pengerjaan commission akan dikerjakan sesuai urutan yang masuk. Milikmu baru akan kutulis setelah pesanan yang sebelumnya selesai. Tolong jadikan ini pertimbangan, terutama jika kamu ingin pesananmu cepat jadi.

Jika di tengah proses diskusi ataupun pengerjaan kamu tidak merespons dalam kurun waktu lebih dari 1x24 jam, pesanan lain akan otomatis didahulukan.

Jika setelah tulisan selesai dan kamu tidak merespons dalam kurun waktu lebih dari 3x24 jam, pesananmu akan langsung kuunggah melalui Trakteer. Username-mu juga akan ditampilkan sebagai sanksi.

Dalam menulis, aku cenderung tidak mempedulikan posisi dominan dan submisif. Pun kamu bisa mengatakan preferensimu soal ini, terutama jika yang kamu mau adalah narasi NSFW.

1. Gamja, aku mau pacaran sama biasku! Kamu bisa nulis BIM nggak?

Bisa dongs. Tinggal sebut aja orangnya yang mana dan mau pacaran kayak gimana, lewat tanganku kalian bakal jadi pasangan paling manis sedunia parsos.

2. Kalo aku mau cerita yang bukan naksir-naksiran gimana? Misal tentang temen platonik atau keluarga gitu?

Gak masalah. Toh cinta banyak bentuknya.

3. Kamu bersedia nulis karakter idol yang masih minor gak, Ja? Kalo iya, bisa request ada adegan cium-ciumnya?

Bersedia, selama ceritanya gak mengandung seks dan minum alkohol alias cuma cinta-cintaan gemes. Buat adegan ciuman, aku membatasi adek-adek ini sampe kecup pipi dan bibir sekali aja ya. Anak kecil dilarang cium brutal.

Reminder, usia legal secara politik di Indonesia adalah 18 tahun dan batas usia minimum konsumsi alkohol adalah 21 tahun.

4. Ja, mabu-mabu tipsy kan bisa masuk dubious consent, kalo aku request kegiatan ranjang habis mereka minum, kamu bisa nulisnya gak?

Hm, aku ragu hasilnya bakal sememuaskan seks full consent karena aku cenderung menempatkan diri jadi karakternya ketika nulis. Merinding dikit sebenernya, tapi mungkin beberapa bisa kutulis tergantung nanti jalan ceritanya gimana. Pokoknya komunikasikan aja sama aku. Semisal gak bisa, kita cari jalan keluarnya sama-sama.

5. Aku mau commis cerita yang karakternya penuh trauma, min. Boleh gak?

Jadi lucu dong ntar karena orang lucu biasanya banyak traumanya. Tapi bercanda. Spesifik traumanya karena apa? Kalo bukan yang aku alami sendiri kayak family issue atau toxic environment, aku gak yakin bisa paham penuh gimana responnya. Pun bisa, kemungkinan besar aku harus research dulu. Lengkapnya nanti tanya aja ke aku, tapi jangan lupa ya kalau aku menolak nulis adegan melukai diri sendiri secara fisik.

6. Aku lagi sedih hebat, kalo aku mau ceritanya ikut sad ending gimana?

Gapapa, di sini semua boleh sedih sebebas-bebasnya.

7. Soal commission surat nih, Ja! Ini untuk idol aja atau boleh siapa aja? Kalo aku mau minta tolong buatin surat yang isinya puisi buat mamaku bisa gak?

8. Di atas, one-shot tulisannya minimal 800 kata meanwhile puisi dan surat maksimal 500 kata. Kalo aku mau commis narasi 600-700 kata gimana?

Aku menaikkan minimal jumlah kata untuk one-shot karena setelah introspeksi diri, ternyata aku punya tendensi buat membacot di tulisan fiksi. Kalo kamu mau commis dengan range kata segitu, berarti kita belum jodoh, hehe. Sebagai gantinya, aku bisa jodohin kamu ke penulis lain yang nyediain jasa sesuai yang kamu mau!

9. Aku pengen ceritaku dibaca juga sama yang lain, Ja! Bayar gak kalo di-upload di Twitter?

Mention of riize made me want to pick your brain on the current state of kpop. I find the longevity of the 3rd gen boy group popularity fascinating, given how things were for the generations previous. What do you think might be behind the dearth of 4th gen bg kpop musics resonating with the korean public?

I don't live in korea, so I can't comment on the lived realities of music consumption in the country. Given your experiences and music expertise, I'd love to hear your thoughts! My understanding is that 4th gen bg music was not an easy listening experience and the public was turned off by the burning sun scandal??

BTS.

And the specific reasons why are linked to a couple other factors.

BTS is still pretty much a wall, even for 5th gen groups. K-pop generations typically last about 7 years, both tied to contracts and the typical life cycle of previous star idols at their peaks. For example, GDragon / BigBang was very popular from 2012 to 2018, for Girls Generation their peak years were 2009 to 2015. Both groups are active till today but even during their peaks, in 2015 and 2018, BTS was out charting both groups.

BTS is ~2 years into their hiatus and halfway through completing their military service and yet, nobody is anywhere near their critical acclaim and charting performance. Like, nowhere in the vicinity.

Like I keep saying, the biggest determinant for BTS’s success is their music. We know K-pop or ‘idol music’ in general is a somewhat niche space in Korea (Korea has its regular pop singers like Gaho, Junny, or Jimmy Brown who certainly aren’t traditional k-pop), but one reason BTS has had the widest appeal to the Korean gp is the quality of their music and lyrics. This is something I’ve talked about before so I won’t go into it lol, but on that note, it brings me to one of the factors I said was linked above.

That factor is song choice. A lot of 4th gen groups have never once not snorted the EDM garbage. You know the ones, the groups who have two hammers: dubstep and trap (EDM), and who see everything as a nail. And that’s before we get into the frankly atrocious writing. Some songs are great to jam out to mindlessly in the gym or the club, but there’s no real substance to it. In my opinion. I also think songs like that have limited (obvious) appeal for the Korean public (with time and exposure therapy they’ll learn to tolerate it).

I think it’s been clear for a long time that most 4th gen boy groups have had to rely on other tools besides music to build up their fanbases. But those kinds of tools result in an increase in dedicated fan girls, not gp support which is what BTS and most girl groups enjoy. And again, a big reason for that is song choice.

Which is why 5th gen boy groups are doing more actual consumable music (thank you NewJeans), groups like Riize, ZB1, TWS, and BOYNEXTDOOR, are making waves and charting higher than Stray Kids or Ateez ever have.

The one leg-up those 4th boy groups have though, is their performance credibility and experience. And that’s what’s going to lead to the resurgence of 4th gen boy groups this year. I actually expect 2024 to be the best year ever for 4th gen boy groups, a modest reversal to the trend so far of the girl groups far outperforming the boys. NewJeans will dwarf everyone else, but overall boy groups in 4th gen will close the gap compared to their peers, in 2024. Ateez and Enhypen (performance juggernauts), Stray Kids and TXT (solid soundscape), The Boyz and P1Harmony (for the really cool kids) will be groups to watch for.

This year is critical for most boy groups because it’s their last chance to gain significant ground with k-pop fan girls (including ARMYs), before BTS comes back.

Because once BTS returns, that wall goes back up reinforced and mutated… it’s going to be so crazy lol.
